BP: Blame Petroleum

BP: Blame Petroleum

Birds covered in oil make a great advertisement for renewable energy.”
The Financial Times, June 16, 2010.

As I watched President Barack Obama’s Oval Office speech last weekin which he offered up empty buckets of hopeI reflected on the Greens and the crisis their President is muddling through. Like a cop, there never seems to be a Green around when you need one.

Certainly the Save-The-Earth Squadron has been noticeably silent on the Gulf oil spill. In fact there hasn’t been a peep from the animal rights activists, even in the face of CNN’s continuous coverage of oil stricken pelicans.

According to Politico, “As the greatest environmental catastrophe in U.S. history has played out on Obama’s watch, the environmental movement has essentially given him a passall but refusing to unleash any vocal criticism against the president even as the public has grown more frustrated by Obama’s performance.”

In fact, environmental groups sacrificed some seals to run a full page ad in The Washington Post earlier this month. Incredibly, the ad does not fault Obama over the ecological catastrophe. In fact it thanked him for putting on hold an Alaska drilling project. “We deeply appreciate your decision…” the ad tells Obama.

It gets even more surreal.

“President Obama is the best environmental president we’ve had since Teddy Roosevelt,” Sierra Club chairman Carl Pope told the Bangor Daily News earlier this month. “He obviously did not take the crisis in the Minerals Management Service adequately seriously, that’s clear. But his agencies have done a phenomenally good job.”

Good job? Can you imagine if this disaster belonged to John McCain and Sarah Palin? The Greens would be marching on Washington with ropes in hand. So what is going on?

I think the answer is pretty easy: Greens are not outraged by what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico because it is a means to and end. The end being a President that wants to reshape the U.S. economy right down to the last solar panel.

“These guys have bet the farm on this administration,” said Ted Nordhaus, chairman of an environmental think-tank, the Breakthrough Institute. “There has been a real hesitancy to criticize this administration out of a sense that they’re kind of the only game in town. These guys are so beholden to this administration to move their agenda that I think they’re unwilling to criticize them.”

Even as Obama compares the oil spill to 9/11, the silence of the environmentalists is deafening. It is all part of the Green’s strategy to paint petroleum as the enemy. And Obama is marching lockstep with them.

“In the same way that our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy was shaped profoundly by 9/11,” said the President, “I think this disaster is going to shape how we think about the environment and energy for many years to come.”

Obama is using the catastrophe to push forward climate and energy reform. These are not my conclusions. This is what the President has vowed: “(We will) move forward in a bold way in a direction that finally gives us the kind of future-oriented… visionary energy policy that we so vitally need and has been absent for so long.

“One of the biggest leadership challenges for me going forward is going to be to make sure that we draw the right lessons from this disaster,” the President said.

Obama said he did not know if America would shift from an oil-based economy in his lifetime, however he added that now was the time to “start making that transition.”

Obama’s comments and the Federal government’s need to look like it is doing something about the oil spill led the CEOs from Big Oil to Capitol Hill last week with promises to reform while pleading their case for petroleum.

The executives of the five biggest oil companies operating in the U.S. faced accusations that the Deep Horizon oil spill is somehow the fault of all of them. The bosses of BP, Shell, ExxonMobil, Chevron and ConocoPhillips delved into the safety of offshore oil exploration and drilling and even had to muster arguments as to why oil is a necessity to the American economy.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda
I can see why BP was grilled by Congress; but I am baffled why the other Big Four were called before the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee.

"This blowout happened at a BP well,” declared Congressman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), “but, if it occurred at an ExxonMobil or Chevron well, they wouldn’t have been any more prepared to respond.”

Excuse me Mr. Waxman, but it didn’t occur at an ExxonMobil or a Chevron well. It happened at a BP well, and while we are on the subject let’s talk about why it happened. It happened because the available terra firma of the U.S. has been over drilled, over pumped and sucked dry.

Still Chairman Waxman and the rest of the committee have Big Oil back-peddling. ConocoPhillips CEO James Mulva looked like a kindergarten kid ready to cry as he explained that the Federal government’s energy policy must "recognize that we have a robust oil and gas industry that generates vital U.S. jobs, as well as substantial state and Federal revenue from tax and royalty payments."

Obama’s Testing The Waters
Common sense suggests that Mulva and the rest of the non-BP executives should have told Congress to shove-off, that they are in fact keeping America’s economy afloat and, oh by the way, providing you with transportation home. Big Oil isn’t doing this. Instead they are allowing themselves to become whipping boys for Must See Congressional TV. That tells me that something bigger is afoot. Exactly what that is is being revealed by Obama.

From the Oval Office Obama said: “The time to embrace a clean energy future is now.”

It just so happens, writes The Financial Times, that wind turbine makers and solar panel companies are ramping up their pressure on Congress and getting a sympathetic ear.

A member of the Clinton White House (Bill’s not Hillary’s) told The Times that renewable companies had to seize the moment quickly. "Most events do not engage people’s heartstrings and neurons together. This one does," he said, adding: "It cries out for the President to push the Senate to act this year."

First come the heartstrings then come the purse strings. By the time this thing finishes up the environmentalists will be tickled silly. For them the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico is a perfect storma stupendous way for the Greens to collect a lot of green from ordinary people like you and me.

Action To Take: The rant against Big Oil is mostly for show. However, BP (NYSE: BP, $29.58) is a mess and it is only going to get worse.

Chart

Fortunately we sold BP on May 5 and recommended you do the same in A Crude Coincidence—The Gulf Oil Spill Works Out Well For The Greens. BP traded that day at $52 per share. At this writing it is trading under $30 per share. If for some reason you still haven’t sold your shares, do so now. Obama and the Big Green Machine may bankrupt BP.

I’m sorry but even the real democrats are waking up. Cap and trade has now been reduced to a utility company only bill and still not enough votes to pass. However if the court ruling is overthrown and the bay rigs pull out…..look out!

Maybe they will head south to Brazil to help PetroBra and Soros/Obama Inc. drill offshore down there….leaving us to pay much much higher gas prices. Please you dumb heads in DC and green numbnuts. We see understand your plan and will do everything possible to stop you. Sick’m Bobby J.

    • David

Cap and trade began under Bush Senior and the Republicans.

      • Shannon

You idiot! Read your history, it did not; however, unfortunately, they did not do much to control the expansion of the EPA, and here we are! Question! How will the EPA people get to all of their EPA meetings without fuel? Oh! Unless, we the little people will be riding horseback or bicycles, while you, the infamous EPA, will be driving your gas using cars! And if that happens, where is your funding gonna come from? The government cannot keep producing what it does not have! Good Luck with that!

        • Dave W.

Unfortunately the idea of cap and trade was first thought out when Reagan was President. Bush senior was also involved. Here is a good article explaining the birth of cap and trade.

Thank you for sharing information instead of and inspite of ill will!

Mr. Greene gave me permission to share his 6 pts that deserve sound debate:

I appreciated the article. I think cap and trade theory starts even earlier. Dennis Hayes, a graduate of my alma mater, co-founded Earth Day Network and Earth Day back in 1970 with Democratic senator Gaylord Nelson. Those folks were highly motivated by the idea of making business pay for the environment. A recent alumni newsletter with comments by Hayes indicated he is as strident and smug about anthropogenic global warming as ever.

          • Conservative at Birth

The culprit was sulphur dioxide (acid rain.) Which needed to be stopped. Carbon dioxide is not posionous. I is needed for all plant life to survivie and flourish. The current rush to deem it a polutant is misguided at best, and evil at it’s worst. It is about an attempt to gain more control over our individual liberties and eradicate them.

          • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

You guys are unbelievable. You do not even want to blame Cap & Trade on Obama. Here he is campioning it and trying to ram it down our throats and you want to blame Bush and Reagan. All your doing is saying you have no confidence in Obama or his policies. You are already assigning blame to someone else. At least give Obama the chance to fail before you blame others for his mistakes.

      • Roy

That’s right, blame it on Bush, IDIOT. Start thinking for yourself while it’s still legal.

      • old white guy

it doesn’t matter when it started, the problem is what it will do if enacted. you all want poverty to grow, you think people in the northern states are going to freeze in the winter. you are fools if you support cap and trade. i would suggest you keep your guns and lots of ammo because you will be fighting for survival and that means oil or coal.

      • David

David and Dave W, you are both missing the point. SO2 cap/trade was initialized in the 80s by the republicans. But get this, SO2 and CO2 are totally different animals. It takes 2% of the energy produced by a fossil fuel plant to scrub the SO2 from the air. IF carbon capture sequestration CCS was viable in the mid-Atlantic, which it is not, it would take 20% of the energy produced to capture and pump the CO2 miles below the surface. How stupid is that?

Burn more coal which is a huge natural resource of ours to sequest the very gas we exhale? So why Raegan supported SO2 cap/trade is understandable (it worked without breaking our country’s back). But now he is rolling over in his grave because the green dumb a’s and academias in DC who have zero real world experience want to artificially raise the cost of all goods and services meanwhile giving the nontaxpayers a sudsidy to offset their power bill. NICE!

    • Peter

Sorry, I’m not a liberal or a GOP member, but speaking purely journalistically, this article is so incredibly biased and devoid of balance that anyone who takes it seriously, seriously needs to see a shrink! This person is a one-sided writer at best, a devious propagandist at worst. Believe this rubbish at your peril. If any of you believe this oil spill has anything to do with BO or environmentalists, rather than with BP ALONE, who ACTUALLY CAUSED IT, please go away and have a nice rest, take your valium and come back when the fog has cleared. Unbelievable!

      • Rod the Other

        Peter…
NO ONE is excusing BP for the incident that caused this oil spill. It is clearly their actions that cause it. But, your cherished EPA / MMS was charged with oversight and failed to do their duty. Whos actions are more sinister here? The company that was taking ILLEGAL risks to save some money, or the LEFTY-government agency that was charged with over-sight?
It is a clear cut case that BP is to blame for the spill, but who is to blame for the lack of response to the emergency and to ensure that the impact is MIMINIZED? I’ll tell you who….The person sitting in the seat of COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. Within 72hours our Government should have pushed aside BP and engaged every resource possible to address the catastrophe at hand. Instead our LITIGATER-IN-CHIEF was acting like a lawyer instead of safeguarding the American people, wildlife, waters, and shoreline. OBAMA is and was SO HOLDING to the unions that he put the LABOR-UNIONS best interest ahead of the American peoples best interest. OBAMA didn’t waive the Jones act because the UNIONS demanded that the clean-up be done by American Labor Unions so that they would receive the payments from BP!
OBAMA refused to let the worlds largest oil skimmer, called “The Whale”, into the Gulf. Uptil now, about 600,000 barrels of oil have been “Skimmed”. This skimmer, “The Whale”, can remove 500,000 barrels of oil PER DAY! This ship can seperate the oil from the water and return the water back into the Gulf. But the EPA has a cleanliness standard of 99.985% pure water and because that standard can’t be met, the EPA is preventing the use if this ship AND OBAMA IS SUPPORTING THEM. With all that said, the question must be asked, why would the EPA and OBAMA prefer to let the oil do the damage it’s doing? Why is 100% contaminated water preferable to 95% clean? The answer is clear. Obama doesn’t want to let a crisis go to waste and is using the environmental damage the oil spill is cauing to further his political agenda. OBAMA IS MORE FOCUSED ON PASSING LEGISLATION THAN STOPPING THE LEAK!

This whole debacle is sheding light on the FACT that environmentalists REALLY DON’T CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT. THE GREEN MOVEMENT IS MORE ABOUT SOCIALISM AND REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH! Obama is more concerned with “Making BP pay” than he is about stopping the spill.

      • Rod the Other

        PETER…
Oh and by the way, when you say, “…speaking purely journalistically”, do you mean like in accordance with the Communist Goals of 1963?

        I bet you do….Specifically goals # 15, 17, 18, 20, 36, & 45.

        • Rod the Other

TO ALL OF THOSE WHOM WANT TO SEE AMERICA REMAIN A CONSTITUIONAL-REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING LINK AND ASK YOURSELF, “HOW MUCH OF THIS HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. The link is to a webpage listing the communist goals of 1963.

  • George E

Early on, I would never have guessed 1) this well would spill into the Gulf this long, or that 2) the flow was nearly as high as it apparently is. After all, we’ve been schooled for years that there aren’t any high flowing wells in the USA anymore, since our oil has just about been pumped out…. This one sounds like it could be in Saudi Arabia.

    • Shannon

George E, we have more oil than the middle eastern countries combined! Look up the information, the rockies alone are sitting on one of the largest underground oil lakes in the world! Why do you think this administration is buying up so much land in the midwest? From Washington state to Colorado, all in the name of putting up government monuments.

      • http://personalliberty.com Jessica

Shannon, I just had to respond to this one. You are so right. John Myers, who wrote the article that launched this debate, said: “It happened because the available terra firma of the U.S. has been over-drilled, over-pumped and sucked dry.” That is totally bogus. Most of our oil, coal and natural gas deposites have been off-limits for decades because of environmental concerns. The U.S.A. has more oil, coal & gas that the entire Middle East combined. That’s a proven fact, look it up. We’re just afraid to tap into it, because we don’t want our nation to turn into the kind of environmental nightmare that China is today. Because of their leaders’ short-sighted greed, their air, water and soil is toxic. Most of their food has to be imported, and childhood cancers are epedemic. Fortunately, Americans instinctively know how to look far into the future. We have sense enough to know that we NEED oil to keep our civilization alive. The computer you’re playing with, the water bottle you’re drinking out of, even the clothes on your back are made of petroleum-based products. Ain’t no windmill or solar panel gonna do that. We’ve been doing it up right for the last sixty years, we taught the world how to do it, and then this Gulf Of Mexico catastrophe went down. I still think it was sabotage.

        • KZ

I absolutely agree with you about sabotage. We have administration that despise coal, gas & oil industry. We have a president who made a solemn declaration that he will make “CHANGES” to put US on the pass to “NEW ENERGY” way of life. And in his first year & a half we have 2 of the worst mining & oil disasters in this country. What a coincident.

          • Eddie Gianola

I’ll go along with KZ. The idea of sabotage has never escaped me. When the POTUS turns down help from other nations so equipped to deal with oil spills and stymies Louisiana’s Governor at every attempt he’s trying to make to save his state’s shores, you have to smell a rat or a skunk more appropriately. The Coast Guard holds up Jindal for some bogus “inspection” and there’s only once source of the Coast Guard’s orders to do so..Their Commander in Chief!
Obama, the Sierra Club,et al,don’t want that leak to stop. Sending lawyers,SWAT teams, and Janet Napolitano as a first line response confirms that. The rest so far, speeches, etc. has been just political
            hay.

        • james

jessica the one crucial word you are overlooking in his article is AVAILABLE the government is keeping us,(the oil industry) out of the most furtile deposits of fossil fuels he doesnt mean we are out only regulated out

      • Rod the Other

Shannon…Good post. It’s a comfort, albiet small, to know that others out there have this info..

I almost leaped out of the skin when Obama said in his public address from the oval oriface that we, “…only have about 2% of the worlds reserves”. THIS IS AN OUT-AND-OUT LIE!

Once again, our LITIGATOR-IN-CHIEF is playing word-games. America only has 2% of the worlds PROVEN reserves…meaning reserves that are actually producing oil. America also has over 30% of the worlds UNPROVEN reserves…meaning reserves that are not producing due to technical, CONTRACUAL, or REGULATORY uncertainties.
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves

    • BOE

We have plenty of oil on our shores and Alaska. But the environmental folks will not let us..the US..tap into what is ours. So we are at the mercy of foreign oil..which funds the terrorist. Makes no sense does it?

      • Rod the Other

        BOE…
Don’t you find it curious that OBAMA wants to enacted a moritorium on off-shore drilling for America, and there-by destroy our ability to produce oil domestically. But, he is sending 2BIl of our tax dollar to Brazil to support PETROBRAS’ offshore exploration. OBAMA says it is to dangerous for the USA to drill in waters deeper than 500′, but he is funding (with our tax $’s) PETROBRAS effort to drill in waters that exceed 15,000′.
OBAMA says we need to break our addiction to foreign oil, but he is making us more dependent on foreign oil with his policies.

Oh and by the way, guess who is a MAJOR shareholder in PETROBRAS…..you guessed it GEORGE SOROS. So to recap, OBAMA is making the USA more dependent on foreign oil by impeding our ability to seek energy independance and is positioning GEORGE SOROS to make more money by using our tax dollars to offset the cost of oil exploration in Brazil for a FOREIGN OWNED COMPANY. We are well on our way to $10 a gallon gas.

Perhaps the Greens are hard at work cleaning up this mess. What needs to be said when a picture is said to be worth a thousand words. What amazes me is where has DICK Cheyney with his vulgar mouth been hiding out.Not like him to be silent on issues that concern the country. This will be his legacy.

    • Al Sieber

what the hell doe’s Dick Cheney have to do with it?

      • Bob Wire

oh really! Quite a bit is certain, ~ no longer in the drives seat, he’s in damage control on many levels and looking for opportunities.

As deeply engaged in “oil business” he is, he’s a very busy man today. I don’t think you’ll be hearing much out of him for awhile.

Maybe the “all knowing, all seeing Elizabeth will share some thought with us? How her or her father managed to be seeing as “experts” of anything other the political partisan ship eludes me to this day.

        • Al Sieber

Bob Wire, I see your point.

        • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

It is a real stretch to bring Dick Chenny into this. I see you have no problem with Obama letting the oil reach the beaches without any real effort to clean it up. Is Obama taking orders from Dick Chenny now. When is it it Obama’s turn to do the thinking.

It was the Bush/Cheney administration that relaxed and/or removed regulations in this country. It was Cheney who met secretly with the big oil companies to craft our nations “energy policy.” It was the MMS under Bush/Cheney that was caught sharing sex and drugs with oil industry reps. Yes, Obama failed to clean house. I’d give him a pass, seeing as he was preoccupied working on cleaning up after the mess Bush left for him, but this was one his team should have taken care of, but he would not have had to worry about it if the last administration had not been so busy putting industry insiders into positions of power and oversight. They boasted that their policies would continue well into the future due to their placement of Bush loyalists, and now we see they were right.

          • 45caliber

If the regs are as bad as you say, why didn’t Oblama fix them? He’s had over a year and a half to do it. He could have done it one time instead of going golfing or going on a vacation or date.

Safety measures were cut? As a member of the chemistry industry that takes oil and makes plastic, I don’t think so. One death can cost millions so NO company is going to willingly risk it when a few inexpensive instruments can take care of the problem.

The only real way to make sure none work is to turn them all off. Now, who might do something like that?

          • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

Monovibe you do not speak for “We the People”. You only wish to divert attention from obama and the tragic way in which he has handled this oil spill. Obama should have had every oil skimmer on the planet woking to clean this oil up. Obama has had a year and a half for oversight on the oil companies. Don’t you think it is time for him to start taking responsibility for something-anything-one thing?????? Dick Chenney does not run this country anymore. He has no authority to clean up that oil. Only Obama can cut through the red tape and get the job done. Obama has chosen not to do it on speculation he wants it as leverage for his burdening taxation plan of Cap & Trade. I do not see your concern for the people. You are part of a radical ‘green agenda’ which will make Al Gore and the left very rich at taxpayer expense.

          • old white guy

mondovive. b.p. was granted an exemption from the national environmental policy act two months after obama took office. b.p. donated about a million dollars to big o’s run for office.

Hey, Bob Wire: Speaking of “very busy men”, what about George Soros? Also known as The Man Who Hides Behind The Man. Every day that Obama’s gulf oil drilling moritorium goes on, Soros makes billions off his Brazilian oil company. After all, the moritorium only applies to U.S.A. oil rigs. And at the moment, there are 11 different countries currently drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

      • Roy

Nothing, but the guilty will always blame it on others.I can’t believe.he didn’t say Bush. That’s what his lord obama does and all the mindless follow his lead.

        • Liberty

Odd, how each side feels exactly the same about each other. This vast oil spill is an American disater and should take everyone to help clean it up. Almost everyone engaged in oil for a living makes very good money just like the phamaceutical companies.

They are out there, getting blamed for everything that Obama and his illigitimates do. Yes, after almost two years, Obama and his ilk are still standing there, doing what they did to get elected, pointing fingers and placing blame, without offering any kind of plan or solution. Even the most die hard liberals are getting tired of it. The end is near for them, and they know it. Soon the democratic party, will all throw Obama under the bus in an attempt to save face, blame it all on him, when it was all them, and then they will attempt to run Hillary in 2012. They arent bright enough to see that she is un-electible also. Its going to be better than watching a sitcom.

        • Liberty

Hopefully you mean that the end is near for all this fingerpointing and bickering between Americans.

Maybe you should watch the Jim Lehrer New Hour on PBS if you really believe nothing has been done in a 18 months…not almost 24 months.

problem solving101 admission, recognition or identification, possible solutions and then implementation. two of those mandate finger pointing, id and solutions, the other two require grown up level responsability. it amazes me to see your childlike approach to either demonize us with insults about finger pointing or make yourself appear above the fray by complaining about the fact we are identifying the problem. the mms granted an exemption to the seafoor protection valve under the guise of a ultra modern and super safe rig. the valve is not designed to compensate for an innadequate unsafe or antiquated drilling or production facility. its design is to shut off the flow of oil and gas in the event of complete catastrophic failure be it an act of nature, war, or negligence be it from arrogance in this case or ignorance, so why then would the gov grant a waiver on the one piece of crucial modern tech that provides the needed margain of safety when engaged in the exploration and extraction of the neccesary minerals required to support life at the current global levels. it seems the only answer can be bp’ s willingness to provide and participate in the wind turbine and other alternative energy feilds. none of them are efficient enough to exist on there own and because all of them require oil at some level of there implementation they will only drive up demand and therby the price of oil now get off your mothers computer and go finnish getting your highschool diploma

      • BobNY

What does ‘Bush and the boys’ have to do with this? When Bush was president, his administration had given this rig 6 citations for safety, and had shut them down. Yet, just weeks before this disaster, the Obama administration had given this rig an award. Not to mention his lack of doing anyhting so he can have his ‘crisis’ to promote his radical agenda.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

These lefties fail to get educated and do their homework. This rig did not even start drilling in the gulf, until Feb. 2010. Gee, seems to me that Bush/Cheney had been out of power well over a year when that happened. Wouldnt that mean, that being in power for a year before the drilling started, that the Obama admin should have made sure all the safety precautions were in place? I would think so. But its right out the left wing liberal playbook, to never accept blame for what you are responsible for, always point the finger and assign blame to someone else. And then never be a part of the solution, just stand there pointing the finger and keep placing blame on others. That is what they do. I dont know why, but that is what they do. Just look at them. Standing there placing blame, instead of mobilizing and becoming part of the solution. They are part of the problem.

          • kate8

Beberoni, isn’t it interesting that the lefties have never stopped placing the blame for 911 square on Bush, even though he had only been in office a few months.

Yet, when it comes to Obama, everything that happens during his ENTIRE “reign” is still Bush’s fault.

I think the truth is, they are all in on all of it, and the show is for our benefit while they finish the job of destroying America.

As far as the guy they “grilled” from BP, who goes sailing for the weekend when his entire life and career is supposed to be on the line. I have a feeling that, regardless of whether he takes the heat for the spill, he’s going to be well compensated for being the fall guy.

          • Kinetic1

            Kate8′
The reason Bush was blamed for 9/11 is that the Clinton administration told him that Osama bin Laden was going to be their number one concern, and Bush blew them off. Bush gets blamed because he ignored the PDB intel. And Bush/Cheney are going to continue to receive blame as long as we continue to suffer for their policies that left us under regulated and allow business to regulate themselves.

          • kate8

Yeah, yeah. Everything that happened for the past century, and everything that happens in this one, is Bush’s fault.

The lily-white progressives always do the right thing, until some loony conservative comes along and screws everything up.

BTW, is it also Bush’s fault that Clinton did NOTHING when the WTC was hit the first time, or when the USS Cole was bombed, or the US embassies?

Refusal to be held accountable is why we are where we are.

eddie47d /// Obama appointed the top dog at MMS and they dropped the ball. They failed to do people inspections on the deepwater rig. Placing blame on Bush and the republicans is getting very old. The true blame is with Obama Had they deployed the skimmers 20 to 30 miles offshore they could of collected 80% to 90% of the oil before it came ashore thereby limiting to amount of oil coming into the beaches and marshlands.

There has been, for 15+ years, technology available (super tankers outfitted to skim vast areas) to deal with such spills but Obozzo refuses to employ it using an excuse of the Jones Act of 1920 which requires all super takers operating in US waters be constructed by, you guessed it, union labor members of the US.

So while our union members are happy and Obozzo gets his Cap and Trade, entire industries, ecosystems, and families are being destroyed along the Gulf Coast.

BP gives to both sides. Big money & lobbyists always have. But pay attention to who stands up to them and who aplogizes to them, when they screw US up. Obama was not the biggest recipient of BP and has no BP holdings. Everyone can track campaign contributions on line. So it is not NEWS, that Obama was the biggest recipient of BP; it’s sensationalism.

          • kate8

I seem to recall that there was a suit filed to try to get Obama to disclose where his campaign funds came from, and then it just went away. Like the ones filed to force him to open his birth and education records, his voting records, etc.

How is that that you know that this is not true? I believe I heard it on Glenn Beck, and he is very thorough with his investigations.

It is Obamas MMS that has known since Feb.13 that the Deep Horizon oil rig was fighting large cracks at the base of the well and gas and oil was leaking out onto the ocean floor. MMS was also told 6weeks before 11 people were killed that the well had a near miss when a guy from Berkley told them “they damn near blew up the rig”. This would also explain why Goldman-Sachs sold almost 58% of their BP stock just days before the well blew up.

What should be amazing you is where is President Obama. He has been president for 1 1/2 years. That is plenty of time for him to implement his own regulations and oversight over the oil companies. Obama does not work for Dick Chenney nor does he take orders from Dick Chenney. Obama’s cleanup response can only be described as incompetent, bordering on criminal if he is using the issue to pass Cap and Trade. You also seem to overlook Obama has accepted campaign contributions from BP. It is his administrators and his adminitration that turned a blind to BP cutting corners on safety.

    • Rod the Other

      JOPA….
What mess would you be referring to?….The Capitalist mess? It is no secret any longer that the greenies are at work trying to clean up what they percieve to be a mess, that being the Capitalist system, and replacing it with socialism and communism.

How is this Cheney’ legacy? Obama has been in office for over a year and a half. Furthermore, Haliburton did offer help, but OBAMA refused it. He wants LIBERAL-ACADEMICS to handle this, not anyone that can actually fix this crisis. Afterall, if this was fixed then the crisis would go to waste. Your post convinces me that you are a supporter of the communist goals of 1963.

  • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

There is a lot of oil in the ground in North Dakota. Wind turbines seem to work in Texas and places like Denmark for house electricity. But of course you need a somewhat steady wind. Ted Kennedy would not allow them in Mass. He like other eviromentalist believe the turbines are a blight. Solar seems the most costly. Natural gas seems very economical and could be used for cars. I do not know why they do not go in that direction as we have plenty of natural gas. The problem with Obama is he wants government to take over everything with costly government programs. He has no free market experience. Tax and regulate will be his legacy if he is allowed to get away with it.Most green jobs will be outsourced to China. That is what already happened with the stimulus package. 450 million went to create green jobs in China. Obama will never make the right decisions for America because he only knows how to grow government like most on the left.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bulleye Bruce. You hit that one out of the park. Touch em all young man, its a grand slam. Building government and social programs is all the left is about, to keep people dependant on them, which keeps them down in their place, right where they want them. Why they keep voting for them, I do not understand. I wish people would learn to stand on their own two feet, and quit enabling the government to keep them dependant upon them, thus empowering them that much more.

      • kate8

The real irony here is that, when everyone is on the government dole, Big Bro is not going to want to keep them all around to be a drag on financial resources, whatever they are.

Historically, when there are more people than jobs for them to do, they get culled.

        • Dan Burke

“Historically, when there are more people than jobs for them to do, they get culled.”

Interesting. See this might apply to a planned economy because other than inventing new ways to kill, conquer, and subjugate people, government usually destroys wealth instead of creating it. On the other hand, as America developed as a free country we actually had people create whole new industries and new sectors to the economy. In a free market society, a culling of the people is not required because a free market gives them an opportunity to find a place to fit in or if they cannot find one to then try and create themselves a place in the society. A planned economy plans things for the people and teaches them to be dependent instead of independent. And that is where the problem begins to lie with a planned economy. If the population gets too high then it becomes necessary to cull the population because the people need food, shelter, and clothing and if the planned economy cannot handle the greater numbers then the excess people may be pushed by their basic needs to learn to live outside the planned economy and those people end up violating the boundaries of the controled economy and learning skills that a planned economy has no place for within its defined boundaries.

          • kate8

            Dan B, good post.

The French Revolution is a good example of a western culture that culled the population. Of course, it is always the way of the communists.

The plan of the elites, which has been well underway for decades, is to reduce Earth’s population to half a billion. For those who still aren’t aware of this, look up the Georgia Guidestones.

That’s what all of this is really about. And it’s coming at us faster and faster, making it difficult for us to get a grip.

          • Rod the Other

            Dan…
Good post, you can look back to the Roman for proof.
As the Roman empire was building the Roman Government positioned themself as the distributor of grain. This made the people dependent on the Government for food. If the people began to dissent against the Government, all the Government had to do was restrict or withhold grain rations. When the Roman people began to starve they quickly fell back in line with the demands of the Government….Does this tactic sound familiar? Brace yourself for healthcare rationing.

      Bruce:

The reason cars run solely on gasoline is because of the fuel tax. It is easy to tax gasoline but very hard to tax natural gas, propane, or electricity. It is too easy to make a hook up at your house. And if they tried to tax the energy needed to heat and cool homes, the public would come unglued.

Natural gas and propane can and have been successful even if the milage isn’t quite as great. Electricity can work too – although they tell you it won’t.

About twenty five years ago a man invented a carborator that would double your gas milage. But the government told him they wouldn’t allow him to build and sell them since it would cut their fuel taxes in half. They couldn’t afford that much of a tax loss.

All the talk about alternate fuels is basically hype to prevent you from realizing what is actually going on.

      • jim

    • John Myers

I really wish readers would stop saying there is an oil bonanza in North Dakota. I know some of you have read estimates that claim there are 1 trillion barrels of oil or more in the Bakken Formation. This is nonsense on so many levels.

First there is some oil there, but is not in easy to access pools.

Second, U.S. oil reserves stand at 21 BILLION barrels.

In fact the 1 trillion barrel number that people are kicking around for the Bakken Formation would double all existing oil reserves in the world. Meanwhile, since the Bakken “discovery” a decade ago the price of crude oil has increased by almost four-fold.

Finally, who thinks BP and others are drilling miles into the Gulf of Mexico if there are hundreds of billions of barrels of oil in North Dakota? Here is a hint: the population of Bismarck is around 100,000. It has increased by 10,000 people in the past decade. Hardly a gold rush to cash in on that trillion barrels of oil.

If you don’t believe me come to Calgary and talk to the people that make their living drilling for oil and gas. They will tell you that in terms of the big picture, the Bakken Formation is a joke.

      • Doug H

You must be part of the problem…

The media has all but baried the the Bakken Formation story on page ten…If more of the American people knew we have enough oil to run this country for two thousand years…RIGHT HERE..They would be just a little mad! But no, you have barry up thier saying we are all but out…and we have to go to such depth in the gulf to get oil..LIES..ALL LIES! We drill there because it’s only one of the places the Government will allow drilling!
Why do you think the Obama admin. is now scrambling to buy large swatches of US land?.TO STOP OIL EXPLORATION! Because they know oil is there!.(oh ya, that’s right..it’s for the monuments…RIGHT!) We have been sold a carp sandwitch with fries…when we bought into the notion that we don’t have any oil here..and we have to buy oil from people that don’t have our best intrest at heart BS!

        • John Myers

          Dear Doug,

I think you should follow your heart and scrap up every dollar — in fact every last penny you have — and bet it all on Bakken stocks.

          Sincerely,

          John Myers

      • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

BP and other oil companies drill where the government say they can drill and they don’t drill if the government says no. We still have a lot of oil off the coast in shallow water. I think it is one of the Carolina States that wants to drill and waiting for permission. There is plenty of oil off the coast of Florida and California in shallow water. Government does not even want oil companies to drill horizontal from existing oil wells in Cal. Alaska has oil in addition to North Dakota. What is the sense of looking for it if you cannot take it out of the ground once you find it. I just do not believe we do not have oil here. If that were true eviromentalist would not be trying so hard to prevent drilling.

      • Rod the Other

        john…
I am trying my best to write a post that does not personally attack you as either a niave fool, or an activist for socialism….BUT I AM FINDING IT EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT.

The reason drilling is taking place so far off-shore is because of Governmental and EPA regulation…NOTHING ELSE. The environmentalists are causing this to happen for no other reason than to further frustrate the free-market system.

OBAMA said during the campaign, when we where paying over $4.00 per gallon of gas that, “…we know there is oil off the shores of California, but drilling for it won’t due anything to reduce the cost of the gas we are paying at the pump”, “…it will take 2 years to begin producing at those wells”. He said this almost 2 years ago. If we are to beleive his timeline, we would be producing oil now, and providing some much needed jobs and economic growth for America.

Big Corporations are powerless without the Force of Government to back them up. More regulations mean more Government. More regulations means fewer companies can afford to jump through the hoops which results in less competition, less production, and higher consumer prices. Also, As Government Grows, Corruption Flows. The only way to keep Big Corporations from doing unscrupulous things is to get the Government out of the Marketplace and put the power back into the hands of the consumer.

We still have a lot of oil in the ground in North Dakota. Wind turbines seem to work in Texas and places like Denmark where there is a lot of wind. Solar appears too expensive to amount to much unless you drive the cost of oil up. I do not know why we do not use natural gas for cars. It is cheap, clean, and we have plenty. The problem with Obama is he wants government to take over everything. He doesn’t know how to use the free market to get things done. His legacy will be tax and regulate if allowed to get away with it. He only knows how to grow government and debt.

They haven’t built any hydrogen stations. what good is a car which runs on hydrogen when you can’t get any.

        • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

If there is a demand someone will build them. There is already plans to recharge electrical car batteries at various outlets. If money can be made stations will be built. That is the beauty of the free market system. With profit comes incentive. Obama’s plan to redistribute wealth will only stagnate society and create poverty. You cannot create more money by deviding it up.

If it wasn’t just another Liberal example of Hoping and Wishing, corporations would already be doing it to make a buck. Otherwise, they won’t invest in uneconomical pursuits unless the Government gives them free taxpayer money.

I read the article DaveH. It is my understanding we have an over abundance of natural gas in America as well as Canada. When it comes to energy people lie a lot because it has become part of the left wing ideology and has global warming.

          • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

DaveH I have read many investment news letters that point to an abundance of natural gas in America. I just looked it up on the internet and there are articles that say there is an abundance of natural gas. As we see with the global warming scam people just create their own facts to support their ideology and post it on the internet. Case in point Hannity writes a book the left does not like. Soon after someone accuses him of ripping off people with the Freedom Concerts and you can find all kinds of webs sites backing that up while being completely untrue. Hannity reminds me of Ron Howard on Happy Days. The guy is squeaky clean and all the internet sites started with one piece of slander. Natural gas is good clean fuel and there is a lot of it. I would be very surprised if that were not true.

  • Al Sieber

Alternative power hasn’t been proven to work on a large scale yet.

    • http://www.roman-empire-america-now.com/Roman-Empire-blog.html Douglas C. Smyth

BS! It’s working, which is why the Chinese and the Germans are way ahead of us with it.

Why in G-d’s name must we poison the earth! The Gulf spill isn’t even the worst: Nigeria and Ecuador are far worse in terms of ecological damage caused in order that we can drive cars that could be fueled by grass-based or hydrogen-based fuels.

The gulf spill is not a left-wing conspiracy, folks, it’s a wake up call. There are alternative sources of energy that pollute much less, and do not poison the earth, and they are abundant, as well. The only thing they are not: they are not owned by the oil companies.

      • eddie47d

        Thank You,Avoice in this wilderness.

      • George E

        Douglas,

You’re right. There are plenty of other energy sources that could replace crude oil. However, they are not nearly as cheap as crude oil based fuels and are not readily available in useable forms. So, if you want to get off crude oil right away, all you have to be willing to do is transform the US economy to something like you’d see in a 3rd or 4th world country and live with it. Fortunely for me, there aren’t a lot of people ready to do that, nor pay 2-3 times more for their energy.

      • I M

Hydrogen does not polute. It becomes water when it burns. I guess you didn’t pay any attention in science school.

        • 45caliber

Water condensation makes up about 60% of the air pollution. It causes changes in the world’s temperatures by absorbing and reflecting sun energy and it corrodes most metals quickly.

        • DaveH

Water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas. You know the Greenhouse Gases which cause the dreaded Global Warming? The other pollutants are produced when the hydrogen is produced. There is no free lunch. See my previous comment for a link to an article which discusses those facts.

      • 45caliber

And they are not cheap. You forgot that item.

Solar power – if not government subsidised – is about 60 times more expensive than the way we make electricity now. (According to a report by an ex-engineer who worked at the solar power plant in AZ) Wind is about 30 times more expensive. (According to the man putting up many of the windmills who is now trying to sell out since he can’t get the subsidies.) Both also takes up massive amounts of land area.

Nuclear energy is probably the cheapest – but the one most environmentalists hate the most. (And for those of you who knows nothing about it, fusion plants – which is what we have – cannot blow up. Fission plants do – and we don’t have any of those.) France, much as I think the French are chronically wrong, is an example of that.

We could build small hydro plants but no one wants to do that. They want the large ones and we’ve run out of places to put those. We use a lot of natural gas here in the South and the North uses coal – both quite cost effective and hated by the “greens”. Ethanol requires more to make it than they can sell it for – and requires more water and energy than it can produce. Hydrogen might work – but no one really cares to try it. Ditto tidal forces. Both are expensive.

So … Are you ready to pay a couple of thousand a month for electicity for your house?

        • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

I think you are wrong about the economics of wind energy. There is virtually no maintenance to the wind turbines. Texas is sold on the
idea and it is working for them. It cannot work everywhere because you need a somewhat steady wind. I really believe wind energy is the answer in certain areas to house electricity. Everything I have read is positve.

          • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

Wind and solar is not ecomical for individual houses unless subsidized by governemnt. Both the German and Chinese subsidize solar. Germany has stopped it now. Wind on a large scale power plant I think is economical because there is no maintenance. The problem is they can only be build in certain areas needing a lot of land and wind.

      • DaveH

Apparently, Douglas, you didn’t watch the 2008 summer olympics in Beijing with their heavy smog.
Yes, alternative energies are being used, but at what cost? If they were economical, people wouldn’t have to be forced to use them. The countries that are using them (including ours) do so with heavy government subsidies (taxpayer money) or mandates which give the citizens no choice.
Liberals love forcing their way on others, don’t they?

        • momof4

          Yup, they sure do.

      • Al Sieber

Well Douglas, I have solar panel’s, and three wind generator’s, and I live in Ariz. where the sun shines a lot. I still have to run a generator a few hrs. a day, it’s not efficient on a large scale yet.

      • jim

yea that’s why China was the worst pollution problem on the planet
        HA your stupid

      • http://personalliberty.com Jessica

Douglas C. Smyth, how many solar panels and windmills do you think it would take to run a city like Las Vegas, or Los Angeles, or Atlanta? And we’re not even including the automobiles, or the manufactured goods. Should we go back to the Bronze Age, when they has to chop down trees for energy? The “Green Movement” is a pie-in-the-sky fantasy.

      • http://LiberttyDigest Bruce D.

Solar and wind are subsidized by China and Germany. It is too expensive for individual houses. However I believe wind electric is very profitable for power plants as there is no maintenance and is renewable energy. The problem is they have to be built in a remote area witn plenty of wind and land. That is not leftest bullcrap. I believe it for a fact.

  • artinthewild

I think it is ironic that the EPA group wouldn’t let the oilmen drill closer to the coast to preserve that area so they had to drill so far out and so deep, which does make for difficult maintenance and work. I understand that BP is guilty of 790 sins, but look what all of the EPA has helped to do…the coast is not better off. As for Obama, well he is a Muslim and they are insidiously moving to take over America – and this oil well is just pulling America down, he doesn’t care.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The enviro’s, in conjuction with the left wing liberal pacifist appeasing democrats, made it so that drilling couldnt be done safely in ANWR, 100 other land based places, or in safe, shallow water points. They forced them out to 5000 feet of water, where its hard to get at the source of the oil, and fixing it has presented quite a problem, that Obama is content to not do a damn thing about other than stand on his pedestal and point the finger at BP. Should he at least be trying to help, instead of placing blame? We all know its BP’s well, and that they have fault in it, and we all know they are paying billions to try to stop it and clean it up. We dont need someone standing there pointing fingers and placing blame. We get it, we all understand BP owns this mess. But the greenies and the democrats played a big part in this being where we cant easily fix it. They must bear the guilt of that, and I think that is why they are so intent on pointing fingers and demonizing BP, to draw away from the fact that it is because of them, it was drilled way out there in that deep of water in the first place.

Hah! Sorry but you really should do your homework before posting… otherwise, someone is going to conclude that you are an ignoramus. (Oops! I suppose we already have!)

Who was the biggest voice “forcing” the oil companies into such deep water drilling? Well, I suppose that’s kind of a dumb question: of course it was Mr. Greed…

No, not Mr. Profit. Mr. Greed. Mr. Profit would have ensured that all the safety mechanisms were adequate, indeed fail-safe, and amortized the cost against the potential revenue, guaranteeing shareholders a “fair” return on investment.

Mr. Greed, on the other hand, said “F*ck ‘em! There’s a quick buck to be made and we’re in international waters… so Drill, Baby, Drill!”

The second most prominent voice against near shore drilling was, of course, Florida’s Governor, Jeb Bush… George’s brother.

Hard to think we have someone on here that is complaining that the wells should be even closer to the shoreline!

“drill so far out and so deep,” Nobody made them do this.
This is a gamble the drilling company made. They did their studies and surveys, found a huge deposit and decided to proceed, at this location, so deep. It was a choice. The only reason to take great risks is the expected return of a great payoff. Except in this case the payoff was the risk, not the profit.

The Sad Sad thing is the oil could be completely cleaned-up by now

If each skimmer in the Gulf is equipped with an Enviro Voraxial(R) Technology model 8000 oil separator they could remove 56400000 barrels of oil from the Gulf water per 12 hour day.
2 months after the oil rig fire that company has succeeded in getting one separator on the water for a test.

Reason —–NO GOVERNMENT PERMIT FOR THEIR USE.
OBAMA STUCK ON STUPID. 2 months and counting no change in sight.
BUSH STUCK ON STUPID 4 days.
Kevin Costner has a little separator sold 32 of them to BP. Got them on the water and the Coast Guard shut them down the first day to inspect them.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Greece offered top of the line skimmers to capture 10 to 30 thousand gallons a day, or something like that, but Obama said no. Him and his boys are a big part of the problem, instead of being part of the solution. The guy has no leadership skills what so ever. I guess he is waiting for Nancy Pelosi to tell him what to do.

      • eddie47d

Greece can’t even run their own country and you want them to help us. Besides they are socialists!

        • JeffH

I can only laugh at this…we help bail Greece out but don’t want to accept this “socialist” countries help with their oil skimmers?
Like those British beatles sang…”twist and shout”…

          • JeffH

fast eddie…forgot to add that it’s OK to borrow billions from communist China but not to accept help from a socialist Greece?

Confusion say…when nothing else makes sense…speak only nonsense…

          • eddie47d

You fool,You have gone after socialism numerous times and now you are bowing down to them when it’s convienent. Too much double talk with you folks. Make up your mind or get off the dance floor.

          • George E

            Eddie,

It’s not unusual for the USA to do business with socialist countries. (We buy a lot of things from China, for instance.) We just don’t want to copy their form of government.

          • JeffH

George E, fast eddie is really getting upset…say one thing, mean another…I believe he just doesn’t know right from left or down from up…his answers go in many directions and his contradictions are as obvious as his fabrications…I hope help is on the way.

        • jim

so is Obama and Greece is broke

      • Autumn

Yes, you are right, Greece did offer to help, as did 22 other countries. The problem with 21 out of 22 “offers to help” — they weren’t true offers to help, they were offers to SELL us stuff. That’s right…out of the 22 countries who said they’d help, 21 countries wanted us to buy stuff, pay for equipment and/or reimburse them. See the article from the Chicago Sun Times: http://www.suntimes.com/news/world/2410552,CST-NWS-oilhelp19.article

I’m not an Obama fan by any means…but when I found out that world wanted us to pay for their help, I can understand why we didn’t jump.

        • Allan

So what…that may have been a bargain compared to the total damage pricetag, and it may have reduced the damage. Always reserving the right to be indignant instead of solving the problem is exactly Obama’s problem.

      • 45caliber

He’s trying to not waste a good potential crisis.

Besides, his union buddies would be upset at using non-union labor. Can’t have that.

YOU ARE LEARNING ,,,,, GOVT IS THERE TO MAKE PROBLEMS NOT SOLVE PROBLEMS… THEY ARE AFTER THIER OWN POCKET BOOK TO LOOK IMPORTANT AND DEEM IMPORTANT JUNK. DOES OUR GOVT EVER FIX PROBLEMS??? NOPE DO THEY WANT SOLUTIONS??? NOPE NOPE NOPE,,, THEY WANT TO MAKE BIGGER PROBLEMS… AND CERTAINLY OBAMA IS NOT A LEADER ,,,, AND SHOULD NOT BE IN OFFICE. BUT,,, PEOPLE PUT HIM IN OFFICE AND NOW TRULY REGRET IT. IF PEOPLE WOULD LOOK AND EXAMINE WHAT A PERSON DOES ,,, LOOKING AT EYES AND ACTIONS THEY WOULD KNOW WHO AND WHY THEY SHOULD VOTE FOR BETTER. THAN WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR!!!!! THIS IS A BIGG BIGG PROBLEM WE ARE FACING WITH BP AND THIS DISASTER.. NO DOUBT OF THAT!!!!

  • Gib Chase

WELL I DON’T KNOW HOW YOU DEFINE “GREENS” BUT I FOR ONE AM NOT GIVEN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION A FREE PASS. There is a lot of internal house cleaning to be done and merely changing the name of an agency is not going to solve the problems. The NEPA process and detailed documentation needs to be followed. The congressional oversight committee once again let the people down and did not do its job. Categoric exclusions should never been allowed and proper safety enforcement measures should have been made and both are direct oversight responsibilities. The emergency safety, containment and cleanup plans presented by the oil companies at the congression hearing were a farce and this too was a congressional oversight failure just as much as it was for MMS. As long as the oil companies are allowed to lobby, make campaign donations, and dictate their own environmental exemptions the good of the people will never be served. Political appointees too have had a direct affect on the circumventing of our environmental laws. Right now there are those who place jobs before lives and safety inspections so with this mind set we can expect more of the same kind of disasters in the future.

    • eddie47d

The “right” side of America has always voted against inspectors whether it is in the oil business or food business. So,yes these incidents will continue.

      • George E

        Eddie,

Can you imagine a situation where our government might actually over regulate our industries? In the present case, I don’t know if we have too many or too few regulators or regulations. Hopefully, in time we’ll be able to determine what caused this accident and what “might” have allowed BP to avoid it. Until then, it’s just a waste of time blaming Bush, Cheney, or other Republicans for supporting fewer regulations. Let’s focus on what we do know right now.

First, BP has a well that is uncontrollably spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico. They are working around the clock to find the reason for the leak and trying various things to try to shut it off. If anyone, including Obama, has any helpful ideas, please submit them directly to BP for consideration. Until then, back off, support them if you can, and let them find a solution.

Second, the EPA is supposed to be leading the effort to clean up the spill….which, of course, BP will pay for. What’s going on with that effort? Has Obama waived the Jones Act to let volunteers from foreign countries help clean up the mess? No. Did the EPA allow BP to try burning the oil when it was still well out at sea? No. Did the EPA allow building sand berms to stop the oil from drifting into the marshes? No. Has the EPA and Coast Guard shut down many of the efforts from various volunteers who are trying to clean up the mess? Yes. Obama should cut through the red tape and let everyone who is willing to help clean-up the oil get to work, but he refuses to because it might offend his union and environmental buddies.

So, I don’t know if Bush, Cheney, or any other Republican did anything to set up this disaster or make it worse. I also don’t know if we have too few, or too many regulations or regulators which might help to avoid oil spills. But I do know that Obama and his administration have done a terrible job of responding to, and leading the clean-up effort and keeping it from getting on shore. So, we may find out that others contributed to this disaster as time goes along, but for now, I can only see for sure that Obama and his administration should share heavily in the blame.

      • JeffH

Wow, “inspectors” are now voted into their positions…I’ve never voted for an “inspector” before…especially an oil rig “inspector”…how does that work? Don’t the “left” get to vote in the “insector” elections too?
maybe you could explain this “inspector” election deal with a little more detail?

        • eddie47d

Okay dufuss, Congress appropiates money to various parts of different governing agencies. The FDA has inspectors and Corp of Engineers have inspectors and so forth. Got it or do I have to send you a coloring book to get up to speed? When Congress votes on money for these agencies or votes against money for these agencies they can add inspectors or cut inspectors. Your not lost now big boy are you? Since the Republicans are always cutting funding for the FDA and let’s say the Bureau of Reclamation these agencies have to make choices and usually the inspectors jobs are cut the most. Fewer inspectors mean more Salmonella outbreaks in our food and more illegal dumping by industries and so forth. So the Republicans get this ball rolling by constantly VOTING against these agencies.

And thinking like that is part of the problem, not part of the solution. While you seems to be looking to gain something, most of us want to save what others are loosing. Like the people on the coast losing pristine beaches. Like the shrimp fisherman losing their shrimp. Like BP losing their oil. Like me losing my mind watching this incompetant administration do nothing but place blame and point fingers. Its not about gaining something for yourself, its about being a part of the solution and helping others, and Im not seeing that out of those in control who could be doing this.

      • eddie47d

Then pull up your sleves and join an environmental group and help with the clean up. If we must drill and we do then make sure our government inforces the rules before these disasters happen. That’s fairly plane and simple.

        • DGmassage

eddie arn’t you paying attention. These GOVERNMENT regulations do NOT do the job. I am paying taxes to pay lazy, no-good bureaucrats to make rules that can’t be enforced and wouldn’t get anything done if they could. Government is NOT the solution, it is the PROBLEM.

The biggest problem with these “rules” is that no lawmaker is making them. Further, the ones who write them are all in Washington and have experience ONLY is writing laws. They know absolutely nothing about the fields they are writing them to cover. And if you point that out to them, they write more to punish you for suggesting they aren’t experts in everything.

          • eddie47d

You vote on the Right I assume. They vote against all regulations that govern this country.Lack of certain regulations allowed BP to take shortcuts leading to the spill. Republicans vote against funding for most agencies. So we have fewer inspectors to keep tabs on what BP is not doing right. They vote against environmental clean up at all levels (the Superfund is an example). That’s why the govt. is slow in responding to environmental disasters. Since BP gave Obama their word to plug the leak and take care of the damage that slowed down the govt response even further. If we want a responsible govt. then demand that the Republicans vote the funding that these agencies need to get the job done. Whether it’s a road project or an environmental disaster.

I don’t want to be misunderstood here! I have been retired 24 years
from a 35 year career in the petroleum business. I have seen the good
the bad and the ugly! The ugly is when evironmentalist abetted by the
government forces everyday items (things America has to have)out of
business or makes the price so high it is no longer usable. I have no
quarrel with making America more economical or providing a cleaner
environment. Where I object is when they start eliminating oil-gas
before developing an acceptable alternative. They have pressured the
oil people away from drilling in low risk areas, then when they are
drilling in 5,000 feet of water and probably a another mile into ‘
the earth and have an accident in this high risk operation, then its all the oil companys fault. In my book! The people who caused the
high risk drillling (environmentalist aided and abbeted by government)
bear equal responsibility with the Oil Comapny.

      • George E

        Old Josh,

I think you’ve made a good point. We should be drilling on public lands where there is believed to be a lot of oil and gas. However, it’s possible in this case that BP did not use good judgment in the way they drilled or operated this well. If that’s the case, we may need tighter regulations or enforcement to avoid similar problems in the future. In any case, I’m confident that our petroleum engineers will find or develop solutions which will give reasonable assurance that these spills can be avoided in the future.

      • vote responsably

AMEN to that Old Josh. You are exactely right. Although I would say they deserve all the blame since the oil companies were forced to drill out that far to begin with due to the environmentalists and the wacko left wingers, they are completly to blame for this disaster. And for all you bush bashers do some reseach you’ll find out this started with Jimmy carter, Bush had his fingers in it as well but he didn’t start it all, Clinton who signed a bill to allow deep water drilling and he also lifted the 16% tax on their oil they retrieved which gave them a big ensentive to drill and obama gave them an award for safty at their beginning so he owns this disaster. So all you lefty wackos stop listening to what is said and look at what they do or more importantly what they don’t do. obama for instance all he does is talk of all these empty promises which are down right lies thats what all his experience is in nothing else talking a good game. When all you irresponsable people who voted for this piece of work we now have in office vote again for any official office look at their past records of voting etc and base your vote on that not for what they just say. He was voted in because he was black nothing more. If you were a responsable voter you would have based your vote on his voting record, his past and present associates, his beliefs, his experience which he doesn’t have at all etc don’t base it on what is said or what he says. To let all you lefties out there know I’m an independant who was once a Democrat but left the party when peanut head got into office because I saw where the democrats were headed. They are now a very distructive party who’s only goal is to stay in power and for all you who keep voting for them you seal the distructive fate of what was once a great nation

      • 45caliber

You are correct. And that is what I have the biggest problem with.

As I’ve said before, the liberals want to change. It doesn’t matter if what exists is good or not; it must be changed. And if the change doesn’t work, then try something else but never ever go back to what worked since it needed changing.

The conservatives are willing to change to something better but wish to do it a little at a time to prevent disasters and to be able to immediately go back to what worked if the change is detrimental.

And we can tell who is in charge in Washington here, can’t we?

  • Ed

I am having a great deal of of difficulty reconciling reality with what is transpiring in Washington regarding the Gulf oil spill. How does anyone become stupid and ignorant enough to relate any of this to any other administration but Obama’s.

Existing procedures, if followed properly, and by that I include the verification of testing, and safety procedures concerning the operation of all the equipment including BOPs, are essentially adaquate to prevent oil spills like we are experiencing. The existing procedures simply were not followed.

When you are drilling in precarious situations like excessively deep water, known or suspected high pressure areas, areas where sour gas is suspected, and a host of other risky situations, no one in their right mind would take short cuts, especially with safety precautions. BP admittedly took short cuts and operated their rig (albeit with government permission) in violation of even standard operating procedures, and stupidly endangered their personnel, the rig and the Gulf.

There is no indication that the procedures existing are not adequate, but it is necessary that they be followed. Although all the facts are not in, it certainly appears, with little doubt, that this disaster is the result of “Human error”, poor decisions, and NOT industry wide, or even mechanical, or procedural deficiencies. Obama has no business creating extreme hardship on the American public by demanding this moratorium. Nothing is to be gained for America. Once again, arrogance and ignorance have foist upon America destructive actions which will and can only be seen to be damaging to the U.S.A.

BP should be restricted severely in the future, should they wish to continue drilling in U.S. waters, however additional restrictions, by Obama, on the entire industry have to be seen as somehow self serving. Obama should concern himself with straightening up his own offices. He bears considerable responsibility for the oil spill and more importantly the lack of response in protecting our coastline afterward. Unlike BP, he insists on unloading that responsibility on someone else, anyone else. Fix your own ship Mr. President BEFORE you go messing with the rest of the world’s.

    • Les Phelps

Just an FYI, the BP well is in international waters as US territorial waters extend only 12 miles out to sea.

    • eddie47d

Good post but Obama’s mistake was trusting this business to make a quick fix. He should have been more leery of the situation and protected the coast sooner. That’s why we need a strong Government-business partnership, working together to get any job done. One can’t cripple the other.

      • vote responsably

obama’s mistake just proves how much of an incompetant person was voted in office. By the way it is only one of many mistakes this man has made since he’s been put on the thrown which is what it seems like he thinks he sits on. He undoubtedly will go down as the worst so called presedent in American history.

      • http://personalliberty.com Jessica

Eddie4d, Obama’s mistake was not paying attention and not caring until political pressure forced him to pay attention. On Day 3 of the catastrophe, 13 countries wanted to come in and help clean up and build sand barriers to protect the coast. But that obsolete Jones Act prevented them from doing so. Meanwhile, Obama was throwing a lavish party for the president of Mexico, his way of spitting in the faces of the people of Arizona. On day 5, the governer of Lousiana pleaded with the administration to allow them to dredge the bay and build the sand barriers. He was ignored for weeks, then tied up in pointless beurocratic red tape which continues to this day. Now it’s too late, because the marshed and estuaries are ruined.

        • JeffH

Jessica, you’ve pretty much got it covered.

  • http://Yahoo Bev Robbins

When it has been verified that everyone who works at the EPA has given up driving their cars forever, and none of them no longer plugs in an appliance, computer or TV, then I might believe their drivel. Until then, I don’t!

  • Josie Dee

Oh Please! CLEARLY you do NOT know what the environmental groups and animal groups are doing. THEY ARE IN THE gulf! It’s a disgrace to use our nations largest man made disaster by BP-the most corrupt and incompetent multinational corporations as political speak! It’s people like you who are dividing our country. And we all know this is the fault of the Bush administrtation and CHENEY. and that is not political speak it is FACT! Next time do your research and stop spewing lies to all the ignorant people who believe you. I WISH YOU INSTANT KARMA!

    • Conservative at Birth

Talk about ignorance. Your post is a perfect example.

    • BushMaster

Incredible!!!, You can take your Karma and stick it up your ass, don’t threaten people with that crap because you are a wounded liberal looking to place the blame on all but your delusional “messiah”. And while you’re at it, try cracking a book or 2. The fact of the matter is this: Slick Willie,(appropriately named), is the one that approved Deep-water drilling back in 1995, NOT BUSH!!!. Why can’t people just call it for what it really is: Obama’s administration is using this crisis to further it’s own America hating agenda, to force Cap & Trade down our throats, and to send us further down the path to his dream of Islamic dictatorship!!!. Read his own books, and judge based on actions, not words.

      • eddie47d

It’s more like wounded right wingers backed into a corner sprewing their uncontrollable venom.Blame the environmentalists for something that BP screwed up on. Now that’s an unintelligent twist! Sorry-no Islamic dictatorship, you loose on that one too.

        • David Weber

eddie47d – “sprewing”? “you loose”? Did you graduate cum laude from The University of Karl Marx’s Utopian Paradise? Great news! It looks like Obama (the moslem) will succeed in his transformation of America from a constitutional republic into a Communist dictatorship (with the “Won” in charge of course). Is Mao Zedong one of your favorite philosophers? Maybe you can hook up with Anita Dunn (she loves him too don’t you know). Good luck with living in the coming Communist States of Amerika. I am sure there will be plenty of unicorns and rainbows for all. I won’t be joining you though since I revere and UNDERSTAND the Constitution (including the 2nd Amendment). Peace through superior firepower (God, with a M4 laser sighted carbine thrown in for good measure).

          • eddie47d

Yup, Obama got it right when he linked you extremists with God and guns. Thanks for bringing that up. Religion will always bring nations down when you think violence is your God. Kind of like the Muslim terorists.

          • BushMaster

look up LWRC M6A3, with an ATN 16X65Z Tactical, God Bless America and Protect us from the ensuing Evil among us.

        • BushMaster

          To Eddie47,
You are the textbook “left-wing loon” !!!. While everybody else is at least basing there comments on known facts you continue to rant and “spew” your bile at the ones who really care. Why don’t you join Obama and play water polo in the gulf !!!. It doesn’t matter whi did what at the start of this mess, because everything from drilling to “Boom” happened on Obama’s corrupt administrations watch. the fact is this: Obama has consistently blocked all “common sense” remedies to prevent landfall of the oil, and even after still continues to block, or diminish to near complete ineffectiveness, all viable efforts to contain and fix this problem. BP is obviously responsible for the leak, but so are the buffoons who made them go that far out to drill it. But, and this is a big one, It was our administrations responsibility to protect our shores from this catastrophe using any and all means necessary, including using all 2,000 skimmers currently in the US, and utilizing the Navy to assist in any way they can, which would be much more beneficial than using the “gestapo” homeland security, and the Coast Guard whom are both ill equipped for the task. Here’s an idea for you Eddie, there are plenty of other countries out there that embrace your beliefs, so why don’t you please grab as many as your loony friends as you possibly can, and go to one of them !!!. You can feel free to bring O-shitter and his cabinet of czar’s with you too. This is the United States of America, where God, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness is the law of the land !!!. God Bless America.

          • BushMaster

OOPS!!!, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention that there would be plenty of room for you on that raft too, Josie. Maybe between Obama, Eddie47, and yourself you could conjure up a “karma spell” to make the leak go away. Don’t forget the sunblock though.

          • eddie47d

I love it! Not really,But you all say you hate the government, but it’s the governments responsibility to clean up the coast. Yet you won’t fund the Government so it can do it’s job. That’s your Mery-Go-Round nonsense and I’ve heard it too many times to count.Give the Government the tools it needs or take your looney friends and get on that boat. Then you can drift to the Cayman Islands where the oil companies stash their money. Take all the dead pelicans, sea turtles and shrimp with you. Bon Apitite’. The 1st pina colada is on the house or put it on BP’s tab.

        • BushMaster

          Special Ed,
I know you are factually challenged, and blinded from the truth, so I pulled out a couple of facts plain for even you to see. These are direct quotes from your “messiah” himself:

DIRECT QUOTES FROM OUR CURRENT PRESIDENTS OWN BOOKS:

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’

From Dreams of My Father : ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white..

From Dreams of My Father: ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.’

          And FINALLY:

From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

There you have it, and if you would only see the truth that’s been right in front of for over 2 years, then maybe you would understand what is really going on.

And yes, I am a God, Guns, and Freedom Loving Patriot, who truly Loves his Country and what it represents, have fought for it before, and will fight for it again, within the rights bestowed the people per the Constitution !!!. I am not the Extremist, it is you, the current administration, and other blind, misguided Liberals that are the Extremists, dancing on the absolute edge of Lunacy, out there on the fringe, trying to change what America represents. Openly attacking, averting, and plundering the Constitution at every chance. Which, by the way, constitutes “Open Treason” against the people of the United States.

          • eddie47d

So your quoting a young Obama which had very little to do with what I said. You’re still on that pro-govt, anti-govt. merry-go-round whenever it suits your political thinking.

    • Danny

Oh my Lord Josie Dee have you been eating purple mushrooms again?

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You forgot Halliburton. Usually when you lefties point the finger and place your unrequited blame on Bush/Cheney, you include Halliburton also, so if your going to falsely accuse them, at least do it correctly. My gosh, cant even point the finger correctly.

This what we get when media WHORES sell their sorry arses to politicians. This is what we get when GENERATIONS of dumbed-down, mentally incompetent,

Can ANYONE believe a prez who probably didn’t know where Louisiana was until the oil spill appeared on TV? How can a prez who’s in bed with unions pretend to be responsible and give a DAMN about solving an enviromental disaster? Anybody who needs further proof of the LIES and rank INCOMPETENCE of this CRIMINAL administration needs to be branded as human vermin and thrown behind bars. Until Oil Spill Obummer grows a spine AND a brain, he should be kept OFF TV and an unwilling prisoner in the White House. This is your BEST, prez. We can’t afford to see your WORST. Resign, LOSER! • Bob Wire

where to start, ? BP was drill in international waters to start off with.

And you can blame BO for BP if it serves you well. BUT it was DC and the MMC that created the present guide lines that oil drilling is presently working under.

Now it’s true BO is responsible for the MMS. ~ But I suppose he was thinking or hoping GB left office with “something” that worked!

But I don’t want to go there and you don’t want me to go there!

So why must you say things that require us to go there?

    • chucky

Just a fact point.President Obama had appointed a director of MMS who at his press conference weeks ago had to be briefed by a reporter when he mentioned that she was handling the problem, the reporter had to blurt out that she had resigned that morning unknowing to the President.(if Bush did that they would of said how stupid, retarded, uneducated ect. But as usual the media gives Obama a pass) So he had a director there for a year. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/05/27/obama-um-im-not-sure-if-the-mms-director-was-fired-or-resigned/

      • Bob Wire

Yes Obama attempted to fill his cabinet and appointments and was met with the standard resistance. ~ And many things are requiring a major overhaul and that too is met with the standard partisan resistance.

This administration is not slow to offend or fire someone if the reasons are there. Gates has lopped off many heads already. And I think one more will fall in the basket today.

Why 43 didn’t ask someone, “why is this airplane sticking out of my Pentagon” has eluded me for years and no heads rolled.

Obama has also taken over responsibility of the FDA while left in a downsized position as well. ~ This too will need address as TEA Party members scream for small government and we scream for swine flu vaccine production increases and pandemic loom in our food chain.

It’s easy to want it both ways ~ but much more difficult to supple it.

and screw the press ~ the press shouldn’t be allow to “MAKE” the news, just report it. ~ But that’s the way you like it i suppose.

        • Lewis Munn

          Just one point…

Why increase swine flue vaccine when it has already been acknowledged to have killed more people than the swine flue did?

It is loaded with Mercury as a preservative. Mercury is a poison, causing brain damage.

And of course, the Medical Profession will never acknowledge what even most air travellers know now, that Vitamin C is a powerful antiviral agent; they take Vitamin C and do not get viral infections.

But government agencies ignore this. Far as I know, nobody has died from Vitamin C!!

I think you need to check on some facts here and there before pushing Swine Flu vaccinations as the government demands. Socialized Medicine is not always the best answer!

    • Conservative at Birth

They did not follow the guidelines and did not properly inspect the rig in February 2010. How does George W. Bush get the blame.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

It doesnt matter what previous guidlines were set. When your president, and a year into your term, you allow a drilling platform into the gulf to drill in 5000′ of water, you better have some kind of safety committee make sure things are done properly and safely. Being this well was drilled in Feb. 2010, Bush was long gone before, and it would seem to me, the guys in charge at this point, would make sure things were done correctly and safely, which in this case, they were not, and yet its someone else’s fault. Must be easy being a victim all the time. Its such an easy part to play.

  • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Note to the greens: These guys in power dont give a hoot about the environment. They used you for your clout to get votes from your followers. The same way they use blacks, hispanics, illegals and all other voter forms. They have historically done nothing for blacks, except create social agencies to keep them down, yet blacks keep voting for them and voting for them. They havent done anything for hispanics, other than turn a blind eye to illegal aliens, which gives a black eye to hispanics that are citizens, yet the hispanics continue to vote for them. You enviro’s listen to their bull, give them loads of money, and now you see, they dont give a crap about the environment. But they do your votes, thats why they listened to you and wouldnt let them drill safely on shore or in shallow water, and now this disaster, and they sit on their hands doing nothing but what got them elected, pointing fingers. The finger pointing has grown old, Americans are tired of it, and that is why they are dumping these guys out of office by the truckload. I suggest that black American, Hispanic America, and you enviro’s dump these leeches also, and quit letting them use you to further their agenda, because I assure you, they do not stand behind you. Its all an illusion they have created.

    • eddie47d

The question should be,what has Republicans done for blacks? Even less! What have they done for Hispanics? racial profiling! For illegals? They hire them by the thousands for cheap labor and then set you goons on them to “gun” them down. What Republican hypocricy! The Republicans have been attacking environmentalists for 50 years while they keep on polluting and skirting EPA rules. Minorities are usually effected the most because many chemicals are dumped in their neigborhoods as businesses leave a trail of abandoned factories. Which environmentalists have been fighting for clean up for years. The Superfund money ran out under Bush’s first term so their goes your slander against the Democrates, minorities, and greens. I will give you an a+ in supporting the care-less Republicans.

      • vote responsably

Again another stupid comment for you. Democrats have always claimed that they are the caring ones and that republicans aren’t. Yet none of the minorities are better off in facted they are worse off just simply for being dependant and being told constantly by democrats that they can’t make it in this world and they need our help meaning democrats which in turn keeps them in their place and voting for them dems. Minorities never seem to be able to get out of their stricken situations hum I wonder why that is with all the so called caring of the dems but they do get their vote don’t they now eddie47d. Wake up to the fact that dems false claims of caring are to continue to get their votes it is quite simple.

        • eddie47d

Are you dumbing up for the Republican Party? The spin never ceases from both parties but you take the cake. Maybe you’ll take credit for steering the Mayflower while your at it.

          • Lewis Munn

            Eddie,

Since I was 16 I paid in for medical care in my old age, care that since I am not working supposedly came free.

Now the Democrats are planning to bill me for my care I paid for in good faith, and unionize the doctors so in the boonies where I live we get some burned out obsolete doctor, at a union-scale price, like they do in Canada…and yes, I have friends in Canada who have talked with me, first hand.

You need to expand your circle of people and reference materials greatly, before you buy the Government Party Line hook, line, and sinker. And maybe becoming older and more experienced will help, dunno.

        • momof4

V.R., You hit the nail on the head with that one. You took the words right out of my mouth.

      • David Weber

eddie47d – Obama is great! Federal employees in MMS can watch PORN during the workday INSTEAD of making sure that offshore oil platforms don’t spill oil into the Gulf (by doing inspections not giving out safety awards). Since to my knowledge, no one has been fired from MMS (Union work rules are really swell don’t you think), I guess that means taxes will need to be raised so Obama can give large raises to those responsible for this disaster. Who knows, maybe one of them could become president.

        • eddie47d

MMS employees did their “deeds” while Bush was President but now you want to blame Obama for that too. I’m sure your good at the limbo stick. Personally I’d like to see all the MMS employees that were involved fired. Same goes for any business that is arrogant to the public.

  • http://www.murphystale.com Marye Bigler

This catastrophe was allowed to happen by BP and Obama’s regime. Consider why they did not investigate the explosion….was it a cover-up? Gee, I wonder…..because now they have a legitimate reason to push thru their Cap and Trade which was authored by BP….and being pushed by such “loyal Americans” as Kerry and Lieberman. Wake up America….we are being conned big time.

Also Hollywood is silent……they don’t want to criticize “the Savior” and his buddies in BP. Years ago Hollywood stars served in the military to save Europe from dictators….they were heroes and good role models. Now look what we have Sean Penn hugging Chavez a dictator…..no patriotic actors…except for a few like Jon Voight and Country Music Stars….who honor our flag and our military.

Keep praying for God’s intervention in this attempt to destroy our country from within! And I do mean Congress and the White House.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Hollywood people are so out of touch with reality, they havent a clue what goes on outside their gated communities and their orgy circles. All they care about is their piles of money, cocaine and sex with anyone and everyone. They pretty much as a whole, dont understand the concept of marriage, God, and country. They are clueless. Its all about them, to them, and that is all they know. They think they know what is best for all of us, and we should blindly do as they say, when for the most part, most of them cannot manage their own lives, and their personal lives are a mess, filled with mistrust, greed, sex, drugs, lust, pride and arrogance. That is why they are out of touch with normal everyday America. Much like the liberals. Its all about them.

    • Lewis Munn

I distinctly recall reports of BP officials being called away suddenly from the platform. And if workers seeing the Blowout Preventer being sent down with wires hanging and an old battery inside.
But that got hushed up real quickly; however, I saw a few days ago that the blowout preventer on the ocean floor seemed to have damage and such problems, which again hushed up immediately.

I have been suspicious that one of the missing men might be involved…but we of course will never know. And I am suspicious that some news is being managed to prevent investigations.

I only hope that the US public wake up and vote the entire mess in congress out. They all need to go, term limits need to be set, and states need to start running their own businesses like it was meant to be such as education, healthcare, energy, and protection to name a few. We keep waiting for daddy to come and fix the bleeding. We asked for change, but not too sure we were looking for a King and that is what we have gotten. Not too sure what all of you were looking for, but I rather like the internet and the communication capabilities, I like my cell phone, I like being able to drive where I want when I want. I hate seeing our poor servicepeople fighting for our freedom being treated like servants.

I LIKE MY FREEDOM and I am tired of seeing Washington destroy what I like, and put my great grandchildren in debt making them live in a third world country which we are rapidly allowing Washington to mould us into. When the US won their independence it was said that we were a great experiment but we would fall like Rome from within. I think we are in a freefall as we speak!!!

And for some odd reason that third world country in Asia, is becoming our banker. Wonder when they will start to pull in the IOUs?

Get rid of pork spending and Washington. Where are those rare statesmen? I for one am tired of politicians.

    • Conservative at Birth

A Republican form of Government will only work as well as those that are involved in the process. Do you meet with your representatives at any level of Government? Do you go to School Board Meetings(Whether or not you have school age children?) Do you call your Representatives/Senators (State and U.S.?) Do you sign petitions? Do you call them? Term limits are for those too lazy to get involved. If you want to have more influence than just voting for the lesser of two evils, then GET INVOLVE.

  • tomdavis1

I have no notion where you get your information. some appears to be (im)pure gursswork. This statement is grossly in error,”Excuse me Mr. Waxman, but it didn’t occur at an ExxonMobil or a Chevron well. It happened at a BP well, and while we are on the subject let’s talk about why it happened. It happened because the available terra firma of the U.S. has been over drilled, over pumped and sucked dry.”
If you had done your home work, you would be aware that The USA has vast deposits of Oil and Natural Gas in three well explored and proved areas. ANWR. contrary to the wild-eyed save the snails crowd, only 2000 acres out of 19 millionacres woud be utilized to recovervast amounts of oil and gas. Then there’s the Bakken Formation in Montana, North Dakota and Saskatchewan, Canada which has a proved reserve of Light, Sweet Crude Oil amounting to 503 Billion yes BILLION barrels recoverable by horizontal drilling, and lastly there is the Green River Shale Formation in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado containing some 3 TRILLION Barrels. So, w are NOT over-drilled, over-pumped and sucked dry. Just turn T. Boone Pickens and his confederates loose and we will hav plenty of Oil and Gas.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The greens and the democrats are the reason they WERE NOT drilling safely on land, but instead were drilling UNSAFELY IN 5000′ of water. Dont hear much about that on the national news now do we? Funny how that works. Can you say Agenda boys and girls?

    • eddie47d

The “over drilled, over pumped, sucked dry” comment was made by John Meyers, not Waxman. Most of us are aware of the oil in America but thanks for the input.

      • DGmassage

I guess I have my answer. You aren’t paying attention. NOBODY suggested Waxman said that. He hasn’t got the sense.

        • Lewis Munn

My church had a petroleum engineer in the acoustical and drilling areas, doing exploratory work, and he has told us about the huge amounts that he has seen that can be found under Montana, but are denied by environmentalists and laws, tho some can be gotten by horizontal drilling from the Dakotas.

It is indeed a shame that we are forced out into the oceans with the water currents that move “spills” all over. By environmentalists. A lot of “environmentlists” have one-track minds, and many of their rails are not firmly tied together, either!

    • DGmassage

tom davis, I suggest you reread the post you are referring to. I think the poster was saying that the areas where drilling is allowed are pumped out. Not that there is no place left to drill except offshore.
I’m glad you know that the oil ‘shortage’ is a government-promoted illusion. Just read more carefully before you yell at someone that is on our side.

  • SFRider

The greens don’t have to speak out. Ditto for Bush and Cheney. The spill speaks for itself.

  • Rick

I wonder why Obama is trying to loan 2billion dollars to a Brazilian oil company, partially owned by George Soros, to drill a well at 14,000 feet in the Gulf of Mexico, while stopping all drilling at 500 feet in our waters. This looks like the epitome of hypocrisy and duplicity from this administration, but what else is new?

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Because Soro’s bought him a Nobel Peace Prize, and gave the dems millions upon millions of dollars, and now they owe him, because he owns them. Pretty simple.

  • Patriot

Obama was supposed to get a bucket and mop to clean up all the messes he inherited; instead he just keeps making the messes much BIGGER and BLAMING OTHERS! It is like when you ask your kids to clean something up and then you have a larger mess then before. Please tell me one thing that has been done right on his watch. Is there any way we can get the incompetent FOOL out of the White House before the messes get to big to control? This is the first time in my life that I have no confidence in our leadership.

We need to keep tabs on this BLAGO trial it is very telling at the complete disregard of the public trust these people in politics have, is there anyway we can IMPEACH this president on the basis of anything in this trial? We can not forget the lies Obama and his minions told us, that they had no contact with Blago with regards to his senate seat, the tapes are out and they did have contact. Is the IMPEACHABLE? Someone please find something on this complete incompetent FOOL!

    • Pathfinder

Until we have enough votes in congress it won’t matter. Democrats won’t impeach their own guy; regardless of any amount of evidence. We must have a super majority in congress or the imposter-in-chief will not be impeached.

      • Bob Wire

very good! and don’t forget the crime ~ I think you over looked high crime and treason.

    • BushMaster

I believe we have rights afforded to us by the Constitution to rid ourselves of the whole ball of muck, based on the open treason committed by this administration on a daily basis !!!, screw the impeachment of one sorry fool, let’s bring the Maytag to DC and take our country back !!!.

    • http://personalliberty.com Jessica

Impeaching the president would do no good at this point, because then we’d be stuck with that witless retard Joe Biden. And by succession, Nancy Pelosi would be vice-president. Then things would get much, much worse.

  • tomdavis1

Is it not likely that the ‘greens’ are being funded (bribed) by the OPEC nations along with Petrobras and Citg-Venezuela to be silent in order to keep competition to a minimum. In this way the US would have to by its Oil from the Middle East cartel, Brazil (to which Obama loaned 2 Billion Dollars for Petrobras to begin extensive ‘offshore’ drilling while putting a moratorium on US offshore driling)and to bolster the profits of Hugo Chavez’ Citgo. Coincidence? Someone should look at the support recived by the Sierra Club, The National Wildlife Foundation, Blue Goose Alliance, etc.

    • BushMaster

Very valid point indeed, it is utterly amazing to see such a lack of response in so many areas, when we know many are getting fat off this catastrophe, and gaining power as well. Soesn’t surprise me one bit that the big O-shitter would sell us out to our enemies.

    • a sceptic

Right… So now the environmentalists are the ones to blame, the new communists of this era.

Guys, I hope you bring this bullshit with you to the election campaigns. Every time you open your mouths you’ll win twenty votes… for the other side!

      • vote responsably

of course the environmentalists are the ones to blame they go to the extream with their agenders. They could not drill on land or just off shore do to their meaning environmentalists extreamisum.

of course the environmentalists are the ones to blame they go to the extream with their agenders. They could not drill on land or just off shore do to their environmental extreamisum. There has to be a balance and there currantly is by that I mean there are regulations for on land drilling as well as off shore drilling and they need to be followed and checked by the goverment which this gov has clearly failed to do and yet the very same environmentalists have yet to make any comments about this incompetant administration another hum momment
why is that I wonder OHHHH that’s right they are a wacko left wing communist liberal group we now have running this country.

        • OLD FUDDIE DUDDIE

You are partially right. As I have reviewed about half of the replies so far, I have not seen anyone suggest the obvious.

We all know that the “Greenies” (EPA Whacko’s) caused this problem in the first place. They stopped the drilling on the North Slope of Alaska in spite of the lies about the consequences. They forced the deep water drilling in spite of the lies of the consequences. They stopped the drilling in Montana, North Dakota and a myriad of other places, in spite of the lies of the consequences.

Now it is time for them to pay for their lies. The EPA and any other green movement organization who have been caught lying and even planting false evidence for the sake of those “GREEN DOLLARS”, should now be sued by all of the state of Louisiana residents affected by this last great LIE!… They (not BP) are the ones who should be paying for this great fiasco.

One other comment. Why hasn’t someone commented on the fact that one of the surviving Oil Rig Employees testified that it was his opinion that the PROBLEM as he surveyed it prior to the explosion appeared to fixed for destruction.

So… what UNION employee helped pull that off?

People… Things are not always what they seem!

This so-called manufactured “Crisis” certainly helps our Islam President to push his agenda of cutting our freedoms and our prosperity and allow his “boss” George Soros to capitlize when he bought Petrabra stock long before the “aledged crisis”. Now Brazil will have the ability to use OUR oil rigs to drill in very deep waters (deeper than BP)and make a lot of profit for Soros.

    • eddie47d

maybe Petrobras will be doing it right, thus the loan.

      • JeffH

Maybe? Maybe you can explain a huge investment in Petrobras by Obama based on a “maybe”? Please explain further how a “maybe” constitutes a sound investment in deepwater drilling?

I would like to see every one on the gulf coast to collect a bottle of the contaminated water and send it to the president and tell him that this is your lively hood and he clearly has no clue as to what or how to get this situation under control.
The president does not have the political will to clean up this mess just place a moratorium on drilling and further hurt the people on the gulf. This administration wants green economy and is positioning him self along with his close colleges to enrich them selves in turn.

Republicans want a bigger oil economy and will enrich themselves and their friends at any cost to the environment to maintain their position.

The mission of team Obama is to fundamentally change America. That’s about the only truthful thing that the man has said since he first came on the public scene. One of his aims is to make America an “alternate energy” country. One could do that by incentivising research and development in the area and provide economic incentives for people to use them. The major immediate problem with this is that “alternative energy” generally is too expensive for practical use, or for other reasons, they are just impractical. This never the less would be the sane approach and to varying degrees has been the approach of previous administrations. Obama’s approach is somewhat different however. His approach is to destroy the oilfield and more generally to destroy America’s energy supply and capabilities, witness his actions in the Gulf overall.

For you younger folks: The Federal Government is intended to “run in the background” like the operating system on your computer. Since Obama was elected, there has been rarely a DAY gone by that some new crisis has not been created by the administration. I wake up each morning in fear of what the Federal Government has done to my country and to my family. This is NOT the way this country was intended to exist. The government is supposed to exist to PROTECT us, not threaten and control us.

This government, the government you have elected, has a vicious virus in the operating system. Its a red virus. The current mutation is called the Obama Virus, and it’s been introduced from outside the U.S.A. There are many other mutations; many introduced years ago. Some of these earlier strains have infected our educational system, and virtually destroyed the main stream media. Consequently, it is extremely difficult to know what is infected and what is not. Assume that it is contaminated, reality is almost non-existent. Everyone knows what happens to a computer system which is allowed to run without any protection. Eventually it crashes and becomes useless. We need our hard drive wiped clean and another operating system installed. This time smarten up and use your security system.

The nations BIOS is our Constitution, and it is being repeatedly attacked by these viral mutations. If the BIOS is damaged, the machine may not start up again. I like my country and the way it is supposed to operate. Please go to the polls when the time comes and help to rid the country of this Progressive Virus.

first you all need to connect the $$$ dots!!! 1. in 2006 the liar (obama) and the commie terrorist (bill ayers) brother John were on the board of the Joyce foundation which in turn created the “chicago climate exchange’ which IS the sole company that will be allowed to sell and buy the “carbon emissions” that the liars prime illegally implemented america destroying ‘cap & trade’ will require every business, every man woman and child to purchase just to be allowed to then buy the “carbon” or energy allotted!!! then the usual suspects,(soros, BP, cheney and his cronies, Al gore foundation, raines, the rockefellar foundations, the rothchilds, and many other scum of this earth within this rico scheme bought the rest of the shares! thus with the orchestrated and then the virtual NON remedy for any containment of the oil by this co conspirator this evolved into a national emergency crises that is exactly what they wanted in order to implement the end of oil drilling by america and usher in the cap & trade scam taht will make the rico schemers multiple TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS that come from the dumbed down masses!!!! also, soros invesed heavily into another brazilian oil comaopny that stands to take advantage of americas loss of oil revenue and exports!!! just connect the MANY MANY more dots and follow the money these traitors need to be arrested and brought up on rico charges and treason and much more then imprisoned!!! the only way that is feasible is by the masses doing it as the people on both sides of the isle are ALL corrupted to the point of NO return!!!

    • JeffH

Look directly at Obama’s campign for a green agenda = Cap & Tax and again follow the leader…George Soros invests $900+million in Petrobras(Brazil) and Obama lends Petrobas an open ended loan of $2 Billion +.

I ask why does the US under Obama need to lend a Brazilian oil company that already rakes in billions in profits other than to take care of the Soros Fund investment in Petrobras…good profits might be a motivator…I though Obama hated deepwater drilling and was looking forward to a move to “clean energy”.
I’m totally confused now…is Obama supporting “green clean” or “dirty” oil?

RIO DE JANEIRO/SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Brazil’s state oil company Petrobras announced Monday a 29 percent hike in investments over five years as it steps up a campaign to tap some of the world’s largest deposits of deep sea oil.

The $224 billion investment program for 2010-2014 notably increases outlays in refining while still dedicating the lion’s share of spending to deep water oil exploration, which Brazil sees as a ticket to economic development despite concern over offshore drilling sparked by BP’s Gulf of Mexico accident.

It also sets the stage for Tuesday’s shareholders’ meeting to approve the long-awaited oil-for-shares swap in which Petrobras could raise $25 billion in cash and issue as much as $60 billion worth of shares.

Petrobras is seeking to push offshore drilling into water even deeper than BP’s ill-fated Macondo well and to total depths of as much as 7,000 meters (23,000 feet), shrugging off skepticism about offshore drilling despite the ecological disaster unfolding in the United States.

Let’s see now…Soros invests in Petrobas, Obama lends Petrobras $2+billion, John Podesta thinks for Obama, Obama opens up gulf drilling, John’s brother Tony Podesta works for BP, BP-Gulf blowout, Obama closes drilling, Petrobas announces huge deepwater drilling investments for their future…somebody is making a ton of money here?

What a complicated web is woven here…raise any questions about what is motivating Mr. “Green” Obama other than George Soros and company?

      • eddie47d

Brazil has little if anything to do with the Gulf.Companies make deals all the time all over the world. My only concern would be if Petrobras defaulted on the loan and that doesn’t even seem possible with all the money they already have. If there is an oil spill off the coast of Brazil then that could hurt Americas integrity for loaning the money and the integrity of the whole oil industry.

        • vote responsably

You just amaze me with your blind eyes and ears you have on reality

      • JeffH

Please explain, in your own words, why Obama would lend taxpayer dollars to the tune of $2billion+ to a wealthy oil company like Petrobras?

I’d really like to here your spin on this…I thought Obama was against oil drilling, especially deepwater drilling, based on the environmental threats it poses to the world. Afterall, isn’t Obama looking out for the global environment as well as the US environment?

        Help me understand this conundrum?

        • JeffH

fast eddie needs to explain himself a little better…

  • http://www.sensiblechange.org Ken

It is crystal clear that the radical environmentalists and their lackeys in Congress are the ultimate cause of this disaster. Forcing oil companies to drill in deeper waters created the conditions that make it extremely difficult to mitigate disasters like the BP oil spill. The irony of brain-dead politicians like Obama and Henry Waxman (the moron who thinks the tundra is erupting at the North Pole) casting blame on all oil companies when they created the conditions leading to the disaster is amazing. Waxman’s hearings are a travesty. The roles should be reversed. The oil executives should be grilling Waxman and the other green clowns in Congress.

This is what happens when we elect a radical community organizer without a lick of executive experience as president. This event will be Obama’s undoing because it exposes the depth of his ignorance and incompetence. He’s an ideologue with a teleprompter–nothing more. Millions were mesmerized by the sound of his voice and his haughty, imperious manner, assigning to him messianic-like attributes. But peel beneath the service and you find a man of limited intelligence and poor judgment, who views everything though a far-left political prism. His decision to suspend drilling in the Gulf compounds his ineptitude and constitutes just another dagger into the heart of the American economy. And now he’s using the disaster to push cap and trade (read: cap and tax), the most mindlessly misguided and economically disastrous energy policy imaginable, and all for the fraud of a global warming crisis, an issue he doesn’t begin to comprehend. He may have been born in Hawaii, but he governs like an alien hostile to America’s interests.

Whether a Muslim or not (I believe he is primarily a devotee of black liberationist theology ala James Cone and Reverend Wright), Obama is playing into the hands of the Islamists who want to transform the United States into a Sharia-compliant country. His ludicrous attempts to push us prematurely into a green energy future so beloved by the radical, and hopelessly naive, environmentalists will only meet with disaster for our country. We will be dependent upon fossil fuels for another 100 years, at least, and attempts to advance the timetable are only doomed to fail. What these efforts will do is push us even further into a dependence on the Middle East oil which fuels not only our economy, but bankrolls the Islamist agenda that wants to turn back the clock to the 8th century. The radical Islamists who are boring into many levels of our society, of which the mosque in lower Manhattan is just the tip of the Iceberg, are now establishing ethnic enclaves throughout the United States, just as they have in Europe. This is all being financed by billions in petro-dollars from Saudi Arabia, to whose leaders our president bows. Shutting down the oil rigs will further the Islamist agenda.

The Democratic Party was taken over by the radical left more than 30 years ago, and we are now witnessing the results of what happens when they control both the White House and Congress. Today, they are in league with the Islamists with whom they share a desire for “social justice,” as Andrew McCarthy details so painstakingly in his new book “The Grand Jihad.” The Arab world is laughing at how compliantly we are placing our necks beneath their scimitars. Just read the DOD report on the Fort Hood massacre to see just how much we have fallen for the politically correct, sanitized view of Islam. That report utters not a word about the religious motivation of the perpetrator or the role of Islamic terrorism as the cause. It’s positively mind-boggling. Or take Mayor Bloomberg who was quick to attribute the attempted bombing of Times Square to someone upset with health care legislation for fear of offending the radical Islamists who want to destroy us.

Barack Obama and the Democrats should never again be allowed near the levers of power. November will be the wake-up call that we are going to take our country back.

    • eddie47d

After that speech you shouldn’t be allowed near a voting lever! Nothing is ever crystal clear Not even a war that is won. Heck, the Republicans have been sabotaging the environment for quite some time. In all fairness there was a time that democrates didn’t care either, but not in the last 40 years. So the anti-environmental Republicans created the problem with their lack of rules and not holding polluters accountable. That encourged MMS and even the EPA to grow weak and ineffective. The watchdogs we’re leashed and the Republicans played.

          • Lewis Munn

            Mr. Weber ..

You need to remember that the Obama Educational Plan (OEP) calls for the teaching of practical homosexuality, with lab, to all children, since this will be required information for the new age of the USA. It will take 12 years to properly inculcate all this information on how to and when to, so there will be no meed for math, science, economics, English, and especially history. Useless subjects.

The Government will tell you what you really need to know. Right Eddie?

  • Marge Cada

I don’t think we should worry about terrorism coming from another country. We are being destroyed from within by our own government. I wonder if this is part of a bigger plan. Our own government is totally
dysfunctional. They bicker and fight among themselves, and get very little done. The economy is going down the toilet, and now the oil spill , and this govt seems to be sitting on their thumbs. There are people out there who have many ideas on what to do. When some things are tried, they are shut down. We also seem to be giving a portion of Arziona back to Mexico. A portion of land down near Tucson, we are being warned to stay out of.
We need to bring out troops back from a war we shouldn’t be in, and put them on the border with orders to shoot to kill. This is defending our homeland from a invader. If our govt would place 100% attention on securing the border, a large part of our problems there would go away.
We will become a 3rd world country if this crazy stuff doesn’t stop.
    Heaven help us all.

  • W. H. Martin

The blame actually goes back to carter then to clinton who signed a bill and allowed deep water drilling and lifted the 16% tax on retreived oil which gave the oil comp ensentive to deep drill. so get off the bush blame. Regulations were put in place it was this so called pres responsability to check for safty compliance and they failed big time in doing so. In fact they gave the comp a safty award I believe not to long ago prior to the explosion.

and who said the “collective” is a bad thing? ~ and you must figure start up cost over the life of the system, average demand and peek average demand.. ~ It’s not complicated. ~ 4 grade math.

800 watts won’t run a toaster but it’ll run a light bulb and a TV or computer, but not both at once.

      • BushMaster

I looked into a solar/wind setup a few years back, and the cost was well into the thousands for just a relatively simple setup. And that of course relies on good solar and wind activity. I wasn’t happy with the thought of spending 6 grand on just the battery banks, and then what do you do with all those batteries when they expire? That is a very big concern. So I’ve been playing around with an idea that would produce active energy sufficient to run everything on it’s own, and then using some batteries for backup, with the leftover power going to power company. Haven’t spent too much time lately on it, But I am getting ready to build a house soon and want some type of system in place.

The high pressure that is used on hydralics on only runs at 3000 to 5000 psi. With EPA, all the other enviormental inspectors and paper shufflers there shouldn’t expect any thing to get done in an emergcy. With the muslim smuck at the helm. As to Congress and their retarded questioning, you cann’t expect any intellegent questioning, from dip sticks with not a nat rears experience in the real world. Nobody will ever hear anything from the greenies, because they are all anti American and socialist democrats. Thinking the country can operate on wind, bio, hydrogen or natural gas to power us is a moronic idea. Wind, is unrelable for consistancy, and the power grid isn’t up because of enviors. stopping high tension lines, from being built for any electricy delivery. Bio, tecknolgy isn’t advancesd far enough, needs at least 2 decades to get more feasiable for large scale operations. Look at at how long we have worked to get ethonal to where it is. Hydrogen and natural gas tanks will increase the weight of any peice of equipment it is used on. Natural gas, great for buildings heating systems, Picken’s and his pinheads, idea of powering trucks and equipment in cold areas of this country with natural gasin the gulf, but water systems will freeze up, trying to cool down thee combustions systems, unless complicates heating systems are developed, which increasees weight, which lowers effeifancy and greatly increases cost. Diesel, is easy to work with, more effiecnt horsepower per gallon, doesn’t take special handling facialities, will burn but not ignite, from static electrical charge. As usual more b–l s–t theorys from overeducated theortists, who sit on their rears who need map to know where their mouths and rear vents are, of course depending on the moon’s phase, the orfices both are equipted with dual operating capiticies!

Yes, walk backward, and go faster and faster, as long as your pockets fill with the dollars of greed. Someday you will walk into a hole if you keep your current bearing and heading. Be well.

As to helping LA I posted this on every site and sent to every media outlet I could on 6-2-2010 and the only two with the guts to pick the story up and run with it are Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. Glenn has been talking about it all week.
I have e-mailed Reps and the media and have been ignored. This was no accident. When something smells bad it is usually rotten and this smells very bad! Most of us have not been fooled. The people are not stupid, we can connect the dots and know when we are being conned
The Obama regime gave George Soros 200 billion dollars to drill offshore in Brazil and he is the largest stock holder but why would he need two stock numbers ( shown Below)?
The Obama regime needed this disaster to grow as large as possible for two reasons:
1- To push Cap and Trade
2- Bring in more oil from Brazil
That is why Obama was so slow in reacting and why he refused then and is still refusing outside help. It is also the reason for the moratorium on drilling. All the blame is being put on BP to cover for the fact that the government failed to act and the fact they forced BP to drill that deep.

The fact that not one mention of the possibility of foreign/domestic terrorism/sabotage being the cause of even one of ” accidents ” happening within on month just screams cover-up!

Check out the one month timeline.
On March 31,2010 Obama announces he will OK off shore exploration and expanding coal mining. Same day it is reported Sachs Goldman Sachs Asset Management (US) sells off 4,680,822 shares? Coincidence? We would like to know if any of the money went to buy shares in .Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.Petrobras.

April 3, 2010 An explosion and fire at a Washington State oil refinery has claimed a fifth life.
April 5, 2010 W Virginia coal mine explosion kills 25 April 20, 2010 Oil Rig explosion
April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon rig, 11 killed
April 30, 2010 2 men killed in KY mine collapse
May 5, 2010 The AGE Refinery truck explosion and fire happened shortly before 11.30am local time on San Antonio’s south east side.

These are the top 5 holdings of George Soros 1 and 3 are his stock number in the oil company in Barzil where the LA rigs will most likely go if they can’t drill here!

    1.Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.Petrobras (PBR) – 9,818,323 shares, 15.42% of the total portfolio
2.Hess Corp. (HES) – 5,123,198 shares, 10.56% of the total portfolio
    3.Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.Petrobras (PBR-A) – 5,884,700 shares, 7.53% of the total portfolio
4.Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (POT) – 1,978,053 shares, 7.06% of the total portfolio
5.Plains Exploration & Production Company (PXP) – 6,526,400 shares, 6.84% of the total portfolio

Note that there are two Petrobas stock numbers (PBR and PBR-A, numbers 1
    & 3 listed above).
This looks interesting to me considering the Soros-Obama connections. Would like to know where the dividends from the second account are going because there is no reason for one stock holder to have 2 stock numbers in the same company.

The media and government are silent now about the first so called ” whistler blower “. Why? Because this is what he said they don’t want you to hear again.
Former CEO of Shell Oil was on Hannity talking about the oil rig explosion and stated that something was very wrong, very bad happened out there because that explosion should never have happened, I E a worker ” accidentally ” shoved another rod down the pipe where that seal was damaged”but that has been conveniently ignored by the media and we haven’t heard from or seen this man in weeks since the people picked up on that part of what he said. The fact is that the pipe had been sealed off for four weeks and the seal was working until that “employee” shoved that rod down the pipe. Since the whistle blower made that statement on one has seem him and no attempt by the media has been made to find the man who shoved the rod down that pipe.
Haven’t you noticed that all the environmentalists have been very quiet about this. No protest marches, nothing.

    • eddie47d

So Shell Oil who wasn’t on the rig says a man dropped a rod down the pipe and caused the explosion!?! If that man was were the pipe was then he would be toast.(In other words he won’t be found). Is that one of your pipe dream conspiracy theories? No wonder the media isn’t falling for it. Except for the likes of Rush and Beck but they’d say anything to get a rousal. Many Stock companies have several facets to their company and use more than one stock #. The environmentalists aren’t silent were mad as hell. They are too busy raising money and sending crews and individuals down to the beaches to clean up the messes BP made. That will take a little time so you can join in.

god you are sooo dumb every comment you make just shows everyone on here and who may read these comments how stupid you really are.

      • JeffH

fast eddie is now an expert in deepwater drilling and in media analysis…were you on the rig fast eddie? Afterall Shell wasn’t, and didn’t you say “If that man was where the pipe was then he would be toast.(In other words he won’t be found).”

What’s it gonna be fast eddie? Tell us how long a sabotaged well that has a “pipe” dropped in it takes to blowup? Seeing as how you consider yourself an expert you must be able to give us a more concise explanation other than your “milktoast” versions!

  • bob pa

we have been supporting all these american haters and obama and now you see what is the result. we had better people to run for the presidents office and we did not elect them instead we voted our feelings not our minds. when you vote feelings you get monsters. when you vote reason based on facts you get better results. the last person we voted for president for reason was reagan. the last great president was james buchcanan. since then we have had politics of feelings. Logic and reason would not have given us polosi, reid, or obama. but feelings would. so you only have yourselves to blame.

    • Bob Wire

How so? MaSame/Palin was found lacking.

And No! I don’t see what happens and where are these America “haters”, where they come from? What do they look like?

Are you suggesting Obama created this spill?

  • JeffH

OBAMA: Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.

GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL, R-LA.: This isn’t about the multinational companies. They’re going to pick up and they’re going to move those rigs. They’re going to move those rigs to Brazil(Petrobras). They’ll move those rigs to Africa. They’ll move those rigs to other countries and they won’t come back for years. Once they’re gone, once they’re contracted somewhere else, they’re not coming back.

George Soros had at one time $900 million invested in Petrobras. And before you dismiss the connection, look at how much influence Soros’ Center for American Progress (CAP) has on this administration.
Soros wants wind and solar: Obama uses CAP to spin against damaging facts.

Soros wants a smart grid: Obama (through GE) wants it too, and California passed a bill that requires the Public Utilities Commission to develop a plan for Smart Grid use

Soros has suggested the president should have nationalized the banks. In the House bill, “Regulators would have the power to stop banks on a case-by-case basis from risky activities.”

They want to ban corporate influence on campaign commercials? What about the influence one guy(Soros)is having through Media Matters (smear campaigns), CAP (public policy), Tides (indoctrination).

Hillary Clinton said we need to be like Brazil: Brazil has the highest tax-to-GDP rate in the Western Hemisphere. And guess what? It’s growing like crazy. And the rich are getting richer, but they’re pulling people out of poverty. There is a certain formula there that used to work for us until we abandoned it; to our regret, in my opinion.

Does anyone really believe the world will like us better by chopping America down to size? Do you think the people we are supposedly ‘lifting up’ out of poverty will care about the rain forest?
You aren’t saving a rain forest or the earth with this ban. All you are doing is making a rich progressive even richer, and punishing Americans at the same time.

Everyone in the universe knows what Halliburton is. It’s Dick Cheney’s evil oil company. Yup, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, they’re just puppets of the big oil companies like Halliburton. So, getting in bed with Big Oil is a touchy subject with the left. They won’t stand for anyone with any sort of a connection with an oil company. Oil is evil!

    • eddie47d

Oil isn’t evil, either is nuclear or coal. It’s how it is misused and how the rest of us have to clean up after their messes. We’re tired of cleaning up their old mining camps, smelters and oceans that they destroy and many times don’t renew. Feel sorry for the people who have to live in these areas that have been contaminated. (Times Beach,Mo.,Cuyhoga River,Oh.,Summittville ,Co. and the hundreds of other places still leaking chemicals and waste). Responsibility brings praise and respect for business but some oil companies and HALIBURTON,ECT.have gouged us every time. When they are done gouging the taxpayer they still have riches beyond anyones immagination. Don’t feel sorry for them.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) sought to put himself at arm’s length from Republican congressman Joe Barton, who became embroiled in controversy last week for his apologetic comments to BP’s Tony Hayward.
“I couldn’t disagree with Joe Barton more,” McConnell said in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. “BP doesn’t need an apology, they need to apologize to us.”

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) broke with a top Republican on Thursday who suggested BP had suffered a “shakedown” by being forced to set up a $20 billion fund to pay out damages.
Asked at his weekly press conference if he disagreed with Barton’s characterization of the deal struck Wednesday at the White House, Boehner quickly responded, “I do.”
“BP agreed to fund the cost of this cleanup from the beginning and I’m glad they’re being held accountable,” Boehner told reporters.

Rep.Jo Bonner (R-Ala.) added his name to the list of Republicans calling on Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) to step aside as ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce committee.

The “Greens” have not been silent! They’ve been all over this everyday and for decades. We could have and therefore should have transitioned off dirty energy decades ago. Green tech R&D would have exponentially evolved by now, just like any other tech. becoming generationally cheaper and more effective. Big monied corps. with insideous global tentacles, and the reps. they buy, spend billions keeping us addicted to their exploitative profiteering; allowing them to gamble our economy, safety & environment away.

Several years ago, the University of Pennsylvania decided to install a solar energy collector to power ONE building. A group of “environmentalists” showed up to protest because the school was going to cut down one tree.

Someone calculated as said if they were to install solar energy collectors to power the state that they would have to cover several thousand SQUARE MILES of area with them. If they were going to protest cutting one tree, what would they say about the number of trees that would need to be cut for the whole state.

Besides the actual cost of the power from installation and maintenance, it is obvious that these “environmentalists” have no idea at all just what is required to get away from using oil. Wind tech is no better. No hydro locations remain for more than small plants. The only other choices for power are natural gas, oil, coal, and nuclear energy. And we all know what they think of those choices.

Incidently the “environmental” group picketing the tree were actually a group that wants to bull doze every building, etc. in the US and the destroy all tech invented after 1900. They want to issue everyone two acres, a horse or mule or cow, and a set of hand tools. You are supposed to go to your two acres, build a place to live with materials found there, and then support yourself.

I said that I’d be interested in trying it IF they will do this for one year on land of MY choice – Death Valley.

  • John Despard

Another apologist for big oil, where are these (I apologize for stooping to name calling) creeps coming from. While it is not my place to judge these “Christians” seem very un-Christlike to me. Sure, environmentalists are turning a blind eye to the “sins” of Obama. He is a tremendous improvement over Bush, Clinton, Bush I, Reagan and others. They are rightfully fearful of criticizing too much as it would fuel the republican cause in November. This is similar to the lack of action by the Feminist movement for years regarding former Sen. Robert Packwood of Oregon. His personal actions bordered on (if not crossing the line) sexual harassment but the Women Libbers kept silent because he favored their cause politically.

    • eddie47d

Obama needs to stand up to all these hollowing wolves and let the chips fall where they may. If he looses by giving in to these negative nabobs then he will have nothing. If he stands by his convictions history will be kind. Right now everything on both sides are too muddled for strong praise.

Speaking of not liking the Commander, my feeling is that a poll of U.S. servicemen and women would indicate a strong majority do not respect Obama’s leadership. Speaking as a veteran, that’s a terrible situation. I just hope if there’s any further crisis needing our military’s involvement, that it happens after Obama is gone, so that soldiers and sailors are safer and feel backed by a President who wants them to win.

Well Jeff, you postings strike me as light of content as well, often making superfluous statements and venomous, unwarranted personal attacks, full of derogatory expletives, while often documenting the most obvious.

It’s clear, Obama has got the sand, to achieve many things that you wish to discount or make light of. For one , he’s your president, “if” you are an American citizen. ~ It’s a yes or no question.

He sent Mc Cain, a seasoned politician with the backing of a powerful political machine packing.

He acquired a solid education and made the decision to “serve” early and prepared for the task ~~ and was the first in his family to do so. ~ No coattails, no help . Just a mothers love, willing to waking her child at 4.30 am to have him shape and ready for a day of public school life and stressed hard work and achievement.

His policies are moving forward against the greatest resistance I’ve ever seen the GOP attempt to offer.

I like a man that speak well, polite yet have the ability to dress you down and bring down the thunder. I’ve worked for such men, I hated them, respected and admired them all at the same time. They made me what I am today. It’s these hard asses that demand and demand that makes us grow.

A lesson in life, demand little, get little. demand more, get more.

Obama waste little time with worrying about being liked, I like that in any man. (and being liked, is not what the job he holds is about, while some would seem to think so) ~We don’t want your love or you humping on our leg Jeff.

And for the record Jeff , I’m here to annoy people like you with the insanity of the self defeating position that you seem to take such great pride in. With the double standards you apply, with the circular reasoning. With your refusal to accept the silly facts while launching slanderous personal attacks.

That some people enjoy my posting while you don’t, could only please me.

and I’m not required to document anything, but when I do, it’s for the readers pleasure and not an attempt to sell a package of goods.

and lastly, I’ve been political engaged a long time and know an equal or a superior when I read their post. There are a few here I’ve grown to greatly admire, you are not one.

You are not the first person to invite me out Jeff and I hope , not the last.
You are at the low end bottom of this circus Jeff and I’ve kinda hoped you might get off your knees and quit crawling around on the floor with your friends. I’ll not ready to give up on you just yet.

This spill is creating maham all over and the Obama people are focusing on cap and trade. What the heck is he thing. I think he needs to read the BIBLE and ask the LORD JESUS CHRIST for forgiveness. Because he is one of the biggest sinner. I know that we all are but he is stealing Americans from progressing. He wants all of us to fall to our knees to the govornment and praise them, like they are the appointed ones.
BP was alreay about to set aside money to the people who are suffering, and I do pray for all of them. Obama is a helper to the dark side. He wants control of every living thing. Money is his way of making all of us suffer. Do not worry though, like JESUS said, doen’t he give shelter and food to the birds want do you think he will do for us. Now is the time for all of us to fall to our knees and start praying for the time is near at hand. Maybe even in our life time no one knows not even JESUS. So let us praise the LORD JESUS CHRIST. GOD BLESS AMERICA

    • 45caliber

What he is doing here is exactly the same thing he does in all other problem areas where he wants new laws. He uses the problem to pass bad legislation that no one wants. Then he will consider doing something to solve the problem. How can you take advantage of a crisis if there ISN’T a crisis? And if there isn’t one, how do you make one?

    • eddie47d

So you are equating Obama with the dark side and Jesus would not like him. What Bible are you reading? I believe Jesus would embrace many of Obama’s words and actions. On the other hand I believe Jesus would roundly condemn Dick Cheney for his love of torture and uncalled for war.

Eddie, dear Eddie, Jesus would not embrace a man who would promote murder, via the new healthcare, not just babies but old people too (the so-called “useless eaters”); however, I do know that God appoints kings for a reason, unfortunately, he appointed Ob-lame-a, as our king for a reason! You can decipher what the reason is in your own time, but I can promise you it was not for Christianity. So, please do not bring God and his holy son Jesus in this mess, without first knowing your Bible!

        • Bob Wire

Yes! and no bearing false witness either!

        • Bob Wire

Shannon. if I remember correctly, Jesus “embraced” everyone. Both the sinner and the saint. In fact, preferred to focus on the sinner as the saint required less divine attention.

          Is that not so?

      • BushMaster

Special Ed, You should have been O-shitter’s running mate, because you are as clueless as they come. In case you haven’t figured it out, most of the people here are interested in discussing facts, and potential solutions to the problems we now face as a nation. You’re ignorant, hateful, liberal bile is doing nothing but interfering with otherwise intelligent discussion. Do you need a raft and a ride to the gulf? I’m sure we could help you with that.

        • a skeptic

BushMaster, what exactly has been YOUR contribution here? I’ve looked at several of your commentaries, and can only say that they make the juvenile insults tossed around on primary school playgrounds seem positively sophisticated.

‘Course you’re not the only one here who thinks they’re adding something useful to the debate by shitting all over others in this forum and attacking libelously the elected President of the United States. Seems to me that there are a lot of sore losers still hurtin’ that the Democrats took office: for God’s sakes, people, when will you get over it?! “Muslim”, “socialist”… the idiotic vile and vomit against our President here goes on and on.

…None of which, of course, has anything to do at all with Bob Livingston’s original story here which claims that it’s not BP’s greed and negligence but rather the environmentalists, with their overzealous demands for regulatory oversight, who are to blame for this tremendous economic and ecological disaster. As far as Obama goes, a more fair-minded assessment is that there probably isn’t a whole lot that he could have done or indeed, can do today that would change things much at all.

So, yes, I’ve waded through most of the crap floating around here, looking for some perspective or information that might be worthwhile. Unfortunately, about the only thing learned from the time invested is that foggy-brained, emotionally motivated opinions are not the exception but rather the norm here… an appropriate record of just how far the capacity for intelligent public debate has degradated in the good ol’ USA.

          • BushMaster

Another blind idiot on a rampage!!. So you ask where’s my contribution, well for starters I recommended that all the people who don’t like America, and the principle it was founded on to go to another country that already shares their mindset, and stop trying to make the USA another Socialist/Dictatorship country. And also to hold your “messiah” accountable for intentionally blocking virtually all efforts to minimize the effects of the spill- that is his sworn responsibility!!. You lib’s are dumber than a box of oil soaked rocks. And also the recommendation that the entire administration be removed from power based on their open treason, yes I said TREASON, that they have been committing on a daily basis by trying to work around the constitution to get to our guns and limit free speech, to try to guarantee that they don’t have to worry about the people figuring out their intentions and acting appropriately, which would be acting under constitutional law. The article is just the start of this thread, and if you paid any attention to the facts you would find that there are many here who are fed up with this administration and it’s Anti-American agenda.

          • BushMaster

Oooooooooooh, libel is such a nasty word, and yes, I know what it means. Too bad I’m not guilty of that, because the things I speak of are facts, not random gutteral bile. If you could get past the koolaid you would realize that too. And excuse the hell out of me for serving my country proudly in Iraq, and coming back with a TBI, PTSD, and a multitude of other problems. I LOVE my country based on what it was found on, and despise those who wish to destroy it, such as OBAMA< PELOSI, REID, and the list goes on. Prove my Slander and Libel before you utter another word to me.

        • James DelBianco

you seem to harbor ill feelings for the current administration, hence your nome de plume. If your name implies that you are a fan of the previous administration, i think we should tie you to a raft that you so like to mention in your posts, and send you over there yourself. It seems that you can blame this guy for whatever you want. the real truth id that the regressives have been setting this exact situation up for the last 30 years or more since the Reagan “era”. What a joke. This president walked in to a hornets nest set up by the previous administration(s) which will not be forgiven because they’re gone.
          Be well.

      • Allan

Unfortunately for you and Obama, Jesus could see through the rhetoric to the core values, which are based in godless communism.

  • 45caliber

Maybe I’m missing something. But regulations are meant to do something HERE IN THE UNITED STATES.

To my knowledge, this well is NOT in the United States. So why does everyone assume that BP ignored or by passed regulations to cause the problem? No one has to follow US regulations if you aren’t in the US. Further, inspectors inspect wells ONLY in the US.

That is the main reason this well was drilled where it was. It was an attempt to capture some of the oil under US waters since the US would not normally allow them to drill in US waters.

Considering BP is involved in many places all over the world, I am surprised that they tried to shortcut anything. It isn’t done in the oil business.

Ronald Reagan attempted to begin research that would wean us from petroleum dependency through the particle collider project near Dallas. Congress balked because it costs too much…yet they have spent trillions since then on entitlement projects..all to make a political statement as to their compassion for the American people, (but in reality, to assure their own re-election). So what suddenly changesd? That idea was too expensive then…so why do we suddenly need to shut down everythng, just to suddenly make an overnight switch to solar and wind turbines? Is this the panacea that’s suddenly destined to save the planet?

We could clutter the whole countryside (one in every yard) with ugly, rusting windmills…and it still won’t provide the nations energy needs that are required to keep us moving, going to work, and being fed. Shut all that down and it can only result in extremely high prices on EVERYTHING, massive unemployment, widespread panic, depression, destitution and poverty like we have NEVER before witnessed. …and yet this Pied Piper (some folks refer to him as the new Messiah)gets a free pass? Why is that? This guy is ruining what has taken YEARS and lifetimes to build…all in the name of “Change that We Can Beleive In”. Well…I aint buyin it.

    • eddie47d

The Super ( particle) collider was deemed way too expensive and too many unknowns. It was voted down in Colorado and Texas.

      • Bob Wire

but it’s on line, alive and well today, Sweden I think.

  • Delores Smith

    JOHN MYERS,
I know that you have a great knowledge of oil. I’ve notified several people about a theory that I have. The oil explosion in the Gulf was on April 20. The oil reportedly did not start gushing until April 24-25. On April 24 or 25, there was an earthquake in Alice, Texas, The epicenter was right on the Gulf at Alice, Tex. It was first reported as a 4.0 quake, then changed to 3.9. The quake had a depth of over 3 miles. There is a gas field at Alice. The Horizon leak contains oil and gas.
Is it possible that the area of the gushing oil leak is on a plate or fault which would require a different approach to repair? Louisiana is next to Texas. Both Texas and Louisiana have exact quake lines across the lower southern portions of both states. The Horizon oil leak is 40 miles from Louisiana.
If anyone has thoughts about this information, please contact me.

    • BushMaster

      Delores,
That is a very interesting point to ponder indeed, and thanks for bringing that to the table. I’ won’t even pretend to know the answer to your questions, but it does shed a new light on things if that indeed played into the mix. There is one thing I do find particularly bothersome though, and that is the fact that this administration has been very elusive with the truth of it’s real goals, and very forceful in it’s ways of getting there. There are tidbits floating to the surface about the white house being made aware of, by BP, of a leak at the site 6 weeks prior to explosion. What that leads me to is this: and without any evidence except a strong gut feeling, is very weak probability: could an explosion at the well have triggered the quake? I am looking at the very real lack of concern and stone-walling by the administration concerning all real efforts to fix anything, and then the fact that they are indeed in bed with George Soros, along with Obama sending whatever amount he did to Brazil, along with the fact that the oil produced there is of no benefit to the USA at all. The dots all start to really come together in a common sense analysis. Could the earthquake have caused the explosion? Possible, but a much more tangible question is this: Could an explosion at the well trigger an earthquake? Absolutely!!!. and then the rest of the actions by the the current administration really start making sense.

  • CraigG

Eddie, Eddie. When I listen to you I visualize a virticaly impaired person probably dressed in green, deaf, and carrying a white cain. And to ALL Obama has declared “America is not a Christian Nation”. Intelligence can be learned Eddie, stupid is forever.

tks Great stats Daenna Z says: June 23, 2010 at 9:51 amToday, Nicely stated so It is American BILLIONAIRE, George Soros, who was one of President Obama’s most generous financial supporter during his campaign. This gives back to him?
“Is it then The Obama regime gave George Soros 200 billion dollars to drill offshore in Brazil and he is the largest stock holder but why would he need two stock numbers ( shown Below)?
The Obama regime needed this disaster to grow as large as possible for two reasons:
1- To push Cap and Trade
2- Bring in more oil from Brazil”
That is why Obama was so slow in reacting and why he refused then and is still refusing outside help. It is also the reason for the moratorium on drilling. All the blame is being put on BP to cover for the fact that the government failed to act and the fact they forced BP to drill that deep So did we give 200,Billion or loan?
So saying even though President Obama is against off shore drilling for our country, he signed an executive order to loan 2 Billion of our taxpayers dollars to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (which is the 8th largest company in the entire world) to drill for oil off the coast of Brazil ! The oil that comes from this operation is for the sole purpose and use of China and NOT THE USA ! Now here’s the real clincher… the Chinese government is under contract to purchase all the oil that this oil field will produce, which is hundreds of millions of barrels of oil”..
We have absolutely no gain from this transaction whatsoever!
    Wait, it gets more interesting.
Guess who is the largest individual stockholder of this Brazilian Oil Company and who would benefit most from this? It is American BILLIONAIRE, George Soros, who was one of President Obama’s most generous financial supporter during his campaign.
If you are able to connect the dots and follow the money, you are probably as upset as I am. But good news Tony Blair England is getting on board I think

    • http://personalliberty.com Jessica

George Soros is not an American billionaire. He was born in one of those ugly little European countries that live under the Russian boot. He has spent most of his life manipulating currencies and corporations for the sake of his own personal greed. He became Obama’s creepy old sugar daddy so that he could control the U.S. economy from the shadows, and he’s been pushing Cap & Trade ever since he tried to buy the presidency for John Kerry.

CraigG,edyee has a learning defiency from constantly stuffing peyote buttons in both of his interchange orifices. On a pervious post of his. What has the Republican Party, ever done for black, they gave them the right to vote and be counted as citizens, also gave them equal rights. Hispanics and other races the same as rights as every other American. The dems finally agreed for equal rights for everyone except whites, they got stuck with government programs tab. The smuck Democrat Party has done alot, make welfare slaves of indians, blacks, hispanics, and all races including whites. Ediee your socialist roots are showing, everyone knows if the reservations were gotten rid of, you lazy butted types would be standing down on creek banks like the blacks, with you grubby hands out like you do now, waiting for more hands outs. You simple a–ed bums cann’t support your races, because you don’t want to work or will not work, Why did your races, black and red, die off durning a year, with a over 50% mortality rate. From starvation and going out and killing off each other, for the hell of it, even before any white people were around. The socialists in Washington have made your sorry rears, a playing ground for socialists and their welfare programs, and made you a bunch of victimology smucks. Get rid of reservations and let the whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, and of course indians each get a percentage of land to keep it fair, as the population of the USA. Of the races, the ones still there in 10 years, will be hispanics or asians, whites, blacks maybe 25%, and maybe 5 % of indians, managing to retain ownership of the land. The hispanics and asians are still new enough to work the land and make it prosper, whites have to many vido game players and lazy rearend computor wonkers also college degreed idoits, 40 hr. workers, blacks need plenty of jive and bling time, working more than 4 hrs a day, causes calluses hands are rough on soft skin. Indians have been conditioned for generations, they are victims, just f–k off and feast and drink, at will and don’t work at anything or follow time lines, for anything. Ediee why don’t you and all of you socialist progressive toliet heads go back to China where you supposedly wandered in from!

Oh here we go;; dump this on Bush and chenny . It seems like folks think they’re to blame from everything from hoops to hoolah hoops..Pardon my analogy.. I’m just sick of hearing it.. Obama should have taken over the task of cleaning up the mess in the gulf.. After all he is our president and as such has certain responsibilities and mandates according to our constitution etc. BP appears not to be able to do the job… And I for one have a right to beef because I live on the gulf side of Florida and I am definitely not happy with the idea of our wildlife and environment being so compromized in the future..As far as the environmentalists go;;well it doesn’t surprise me that they’re all of a sudden of no help considering the part they’ve played against oil drilling , but this is an outrage.. They should be ashamed of themselves. Looks like Jacques Cousteau’s son is the only one so far who has a modicum of decency and true regard for nature and such.. Not to mention our fishermen who will suffer and companies who rely on the fishing industry for their livlihoods.. I guess when AL Gore sees the young people in tears over this catastrophe he just shrugs it off and goes back to his pricey luncheons…Although I think he’d be better off skipping some of them.. Hah Hah.. Oh,,, about that earthquake etc. Makes me ponder on the H.A.R.P project again. All kinds of suspicions there… Eh? Of course I do have a vivid imagination, but the way our government is now you never know………….

    • Bob Wire

        Bob,
I’ve checked on the “Rail Gun”, and for some reason I am not laughing, that is a horrific weapon capable of precision engagement of targets with incredible speed. I’m getting your drift. All is not as they would like it to appear.

  • http://windowslive C. Baumgardner

Looks like Jacques Cousteaus’ son is one of the few environmentalists who really gives a dang.. I live on the gulf side of Florida and I for one am livid over the incompetent way our president is handling this catastrophe. He has a responsibility to take over this task of cleaning up the gulf and is shirking it. It is quite clear that BP cannot do the job that they are attempting. I guess when environmentalists like Al Gore see the tears on a lot of people’s faces when they find oil clumps washing up on the beach he just shrugs it off and goes back to his pricey luncheons… These agenda ridden greens should be ashamed of themselves… It’s about time we hold these people accountable for their actions as well as inactions..
It’s abundantly clear that something really stinks ; besides BP , in Washington..And enough with the blame game with Chenny and Bush!

  • Bob Wire

    >>”Looks like Jacques Cousteaus’ son is one of the few environmentalists who really gives a dang..”<<

come now Sir, ~ I know of no environmentalist that "don't give a dang"

I would think giving a dang or even a hoot a precursor for such a title.

And Chaney is witnessed at the scene of the "event" by proxy and by history at a "very high level" I might add and so found worthy of our consideration in the hazardous work of crude extraction to this very moment in time.

So enough for you is not see as enough for me. and for the Record, it's not Bush, but his administration. ~

and on a side note; The comparison started with the title post, sorry!

I had enough myself, and been told people were tired of it ( like that might matter) ha ha!

Don't start none and there won't be none from here, ~ but it never last! Someone got to stir the pot !

Environmentalists in many cases represent today’s robber barons. They simply tie up, monopolize, and capitalize on resources in a different way.

When I was in high school and early 20′s I would look through Popular science magazine. It’s amazing what we can do. We have technology that is mind boggling. I look at some of this “green technology” and it does work and it’s interesting. Right now it isn’t efficient enough, or economically viable though. Some people see these articles and think all we have to do is “just do it”. It just isn’t the case. We need something that will sustain the demand for energy that we have, economically enough for us to use it. Right now a photovoltaic solar panel doesn’t generate enough power and won’t pay for itself, compared to what I can get the same amount of power from the electric company for. We can power vehicles with hydrogen, electric( place more demand on power company) or gassification of coal. We still use petroleum for plastics, rubber, nylon , asphalt and lubricants. There is no silver bullet right now.

  • Bob Wire

yes , we’ve far to go ~ we are but still cavemen in nicer cloths, simply rubbing stick together and exciting atoms and producing heat.

there’s a great mystery man has yet to learn.

    • Jim H.

Bob, The technology is fascinating. We just have to figure out how to do it on a larger or more practical scale. The theory is there. It needs to be made practical. You might want to consider your self a caveman in nice cloths, but I have a house, with a furnace. It has windows too.

      • Bob Wire

        isn’t that rail gun something!

We will get there someday I do believe it so. We have example to study, they command our sky’s at mach 24 speeds. But they don’t hang around long enough to get their plate numbers or kick their tires. I just want to know their fuel supply, we can figure it out from there. They are not “burning” anything, as far as I can tell.

At mach 24 something can travel horizon to horizon in the time it takes to blink. basically not there. That’s hauling some major mail. It’s being done and someday we can do it too!

We are overlooking something, something to do with the qualities of gravity and the missing parts of space that we now know exist but are so elusive to us.

For now , we few, are just dreamers and kooks, where’s my tin foil hat?

  • cliff

HEY BOBWIRE,I GUESS YOU’RE NOT AS SMART AS YOUR COMMUNITY ORGANIZING HARVARD PROFESSOR PRESIDENT.YOU CAN’T DISTINGUISH A QUESTION FROM A STATEMENT HUH? You know they don’t give degrees away, they are earned, and should be respected and they are by most people. An investment in “self” is a wise investment.

As for the rest of your jaded commentary, only you might account for, I have nothing to do with it. It fell out of your head and no one else and is for you to claim.

Ha! manboy, obama , manboy ~ I get it! , you enjoy playing with words. Me too! always have.

Are you a black rapper or something? a shuckandjive badmofro, a styling and profiling humptydumpty ? Or just a Joe Potatoes a laying it down, making a sound to all the people around?

This is a two way street, here Sir. I asked if you had a question and could you frame it in such a way it might be answered. Or are you just slapping your gums, not really interest in the questions & answers aspects of the forum?

I think any Obama and Bush comparison serving little purpose other then fan the fires of political discourse. By most accounts 43′s administration was a failure on many level. On the plus side, he is given credit for what didn’t happen. The negatives? too numerous to mention in one post.

For we know Reagan is offered credit for Bill Clinton’s economic success. But Obama perceived failure not as retroactive or being allowed the time to manifest themselves. So it’s clear to me how many of you wish to think. ~ Whatever serves you best in spite of the realities or span of time.

It’s a GOP thang! and without me here to annoy you with the silly facts,
      your world would be perfect.

Well~ll, ~ not really, there would still be some people not christian enough, not conservative enough, not silent enough, not walking or talking just right and you’d be picking on them like a bunch of chicken picking on a sore spot of another chicken until they kill it.

That’s just your “hard wired” nature ~ Jimmy Cater was treated in much the same fashion by this “sour puss, the sky is falling, hard wired” crowd.

In my life time , I’ll never expect you to change and never shall I go very far out of my way to care. This is the year I quite caring, and I feel a lot better about it Cliff.

Yes Denise, I think it hit everyone that way, like WTF!

This stinks! I was so proud of the decision to do more drilling, we need it, ` as T Bone says , we need the bridge, we need to buy the time and slow our imports. Slow these American dollars leaving the hands of American and coming back to us in the form of cab drivers, convenient store operates, and suicide bombers.

I wish I could agree about the man-boy assertion, but to do that would be failing to realize what we really are, in fact, dealing with. This is no indecisive, confused “Man-Boy” we are dealing with here. Rather we are dealing with with a very methodical, well planned assault on our liberties and way of life. If you look at his history you will find that he has capitalized on every administration created crisis to force his real agenda on us. The oil spill is just another crisis with which they are openly festering to get Cap & Trade through, as well as to hide the other things that are currently going on today, such as the “Disclose Act” which directly imposes sanctions on our 1st amendment rights, the signing of the UN small arms treaty by Hillary about 3 weeks ago, that is now going to be firmed in the near future, so that they can directly defy our 2nd amendment rights and confiscate our guns. Or how about the CyberSecurity bill which gives Obama and the SEC the right and anility to shut down the entire internet under the guile of protecting gov’t secrets, as well as unfettered access to all of our personal information, with no rights for anyone to question their actions or seek legal remedy. That is just a few little tidbits. Oh, and let’s not forget that they are trying to ram a bill down our throats granting “Instant Amnesty” to all illegals in this country, and doing so with no consideration for due process, in other words, if it won’t pass the house or senate they’re “plan B” will just impose it!!!. No, this is no Man-Boy, this is a full blown Criminal Power Junkie using all means necessary to take us down and make us into the subservient muslim nation that he wants us to be.

      • BushMaster

Remember the “Plan B” they were going to impose if Pelosi Care didn’t pass? Same thing here. The need the votes for November, and between that and the dumbing down of our 1st amendment, and grabbing our guns, they are going to make changes that will kill this country in a heartbeat, never to be heard from again. The time to act is NOW!!!!!!, don’t sit in front of the ‘puter and let it all happen. Get active and start calling your rep’s, letting them know how you feel and that you will remember how they voted in November.

i blame govt. ist. the eco groups second. i believe this spill is an accident unless the barry admin had something to do with the sabotage of this rig. bp mgmt will have to prove their innocence, the admin. is using them as a scapegoat to cover for their lack of handling this situation, remember hp is innocent until proven guilty.
your idea of suing the sierra club and greenpeace is an excellent idea. they have caused the economy of this country to hit the skids with all their frivolous lawsuits over the last fifty years, from lumber to oil.
its time that some highly intelligent lawyer steps up slaps them with a lawsuit equivalent to the national debt.

BOBWIRE,YOUR DEFINITELY A MORE SEASONED ORATOR THAN OUR PRESIDENT.AT LEAST I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR SAYING…JUST NOT WHY YOU BELIEVE THE LIES.YOU REMIND ME OF ELLIS HENNICAN…OR YOU RELATED?ANYWAY,WE’LL JUST HAVE TO AGREE TO DISAGREE!!!

    • Bob Wire

No Cliff, I’m not aware of ELLIS HENNICAN, I pulled him up, he seems “employable” and active. I’ll have to catch him someday.

I came from sharecropper stock and old men telling big whoppers by kerosene lamp to little children and scaring their pants off just before bedtime. ~ Oh! Grandpaw! tell us another one. ~p l e a s e!

Yes Cliff, we’ll just have to forever disagree and move on.

  • Bob Wire

Chuck, this hole was a nightmare drill according to all that’s been brought forward and presented. ~

I don’t know all of the story, but they started seeing rubber come up the bore. ~ They knew they wasn’t drilling into rubber, so something was bad wrong. This was ignored(or made light off)by the Man in charge over the protest of other worker as they attempted to cap her off. Extra Men were call in to duty during this 72 hour process. She had been a very stubborn hole to bore and everyone knew it.

I think alpha male ego’s (natural to this breed of men, almost a requirement) overrode sound judgment and prudence. There’s a fine line between Hero and Zero, this day ~it was a Zero.

I see it no more complicated then that. We can Monday morning quarterback it till hell freezes over, but some things just won’t change.

That’s just my alpha male take on it or my two cents worth.

    • BushMaster

Bob, I’m curious about something here, and am hoping that you sill enlighten me. You’ve been accused of being a liberal. But I have to say, by reading your posts, that you appear much more intelligent than the typical hate spewing lib, who relies on abusive jargon rather than facts, to feel important. You enjoy keeping idiots in suspense, which is an admirable trait in my book. I’m not thinking that you are a true liberal by any means, and know alot more about things than you let on. Are you a centrist by definition, or what? Just so you know, I’m not a right wing radical, but actually a very opinionated Libertarian who sustained a brain injury in Iraq back in 06, which tends to send me off the deep end very quickly when I encounter the standard far left mentality, which just plain makes no sense to me. I think you are much more “common sense” driven. What say you?

      • Bob Wire

I wish that I was guilty of just half of what I’ve been accused.

I can’t find a label that fits. I’m a son of the south and from people that work the dirt. I was 6 days old when mother took me to church, and I’ve hated having to going ever since. As kids, we were feed, water and put out to play like livestock. Gosh I loved it.

        Everybody’s got a story.

      • Bob Wire

Bushmaster, It pains me to hear about your injury in 06. There are untold numbers of us that are walking wounded, carrying deep injuries that’s not visible to the eye. You are left to cope and contend at a tremendous disadvantage while keeping silent. This controlled silence in it’s self I’m sure you find very demanding, apart for the injury. People behave in a callous and uncaring fashion is more the norm then the exception.

Well speak out here Bushmaster! This is a good place to hone your wit and to know your never alone with your pain, there are others that share your thoughts, heartaches and disappointments and maybe some joy.

This assimilation of thoughts and grievance if done well, is therapeutic as we work toward resolve and resolution. Let us keep our eye on the prize and that is to make a better world.

And thank you for your service, for suiting up and showing up. You earned your b1tch1ng rights, let there be no question in anyone’s mind of the fact.

        • BushMaster

          Thanks Bob,
I knew it!!!. I deeply appreciate your response, and it helps to know that there are folks that “get it”, concerning the TBI/PTSD thing. But usually the only ones who understand it are those who have experienced it. It is always welcome to be recognized and thanked for one’s service to our country. Are you a veteran as well? Just so you know I actually relocated to TN to get away from the out of control liberal bias and policies oppressing the northeast of late, before I lost control and did something that would feel great at the time, to choke the ever livin’ crap out of those who desperately need it, but would curtail the freedoms that I fought for. You can email me at striperman69@msn.com if you like, or check out my facebook by searching that email.

I sometimes wonder if environmentalists and government employees are brain dead. This economy is locked into oil. Oil is used to make a huge part of the products we use every day. Just stop and for those over 45 think how many items that were made out of metal when you were a child and or young adult are now made out of some form of petroleum material. If oil stopped coming out of the ground tomorrow, we would be well on the way to the end of life as we know it by the end of the month. We have been too stupid to build neuclear and tidal power plants so that oil use could be reduced. As long as we continue to put the wrong people in powerful places we will continue to do as we have done whine whine whine.

  • chuck b

    bob wire

again at this point everything is speculation and heresey, until we proof there was negligence involved bp is innocent.

barry is guilty of negligence that’s quite obvious. he has thrown every road block he can come up with to hinder the cleanup, that’s undeniable.

    • BushMaster

I agree with you Chuck. If nothing else the most troublesome fact is that instead of bringing every available asset to bear to avert the spread of this spill onto US soil, this administration has done the complete opposite. That is based on observation, not speculation. So it then brings the question of why, and one can’t help but think that there is an underlying cause for this administrations actions, or should I say inaction’s concerning this most serious of disasters. It lends credence to others assumptions that George Soros is a major player/beneficiary in this. Impeachment would be a great start.

      • Bob Wire

Hmm? I understand or at least think I understand your concerns regarding administration response and find myself in some sort of a quandary myself.

There is several things at play here. The legal aspect and the notion that who ever last touched it “owns it”. Then there is the emotional side of it that would have one to think along the lines , “It don’t matter! do something!”

I have not really studies in great depth the minute by minute federal response and cast an opinion. At the moment, my plate is full as the dog days of summer approach and I honor contractual commitments and find myself a target of hostile intent of municipal and state courts judges attempt to separate me from some of my hard earned money.

But I enjoy this, and have concerns and interest in this “movement” this awaking. For an “awaking” is greatly needed “yesterday” ~ this is my passion in a lifestyle that offers little this time of year.

I read the news, as my GOOGLE web page opens each morning and the “self-tailoring” defaults that adjust with each click of the mouse as I scan the world new and my personal interest. I am but one.

Should the administration been more engaged, more proactive and more early coming? Perhaps so, has it interfered? perhaps so, I’m sure some cases could be sited. Conflict of jurisdiction, conflict of interest, inept officials very common place in government.

Obama is a pragmatic, a delegate’er with a huge job on his hands. I seen no sinister ambitions.

Today, we need jobs in the worst way, seems BP has gave us one and they are handling the freight for it, as it should be.

The private sector needs to show up and weight in on this. If we are to continue to drill off shore ` and I’m sure we are, we need better tools to address such issues and collateral damage.

This is clear! There is money in this process for everyone, no just drillers, distillers and distributors.

You can carve out a good living making baby diapers in this country if you are willing to put forth the effort.

Find a “need” and fill it.

Today, our collective needs are great. Time to get busy.

    • Bob Wire

      >>”again at this point everything is speculation and heresey, until we proof there was negligence involved bp is innocent”<<

I'm not sure about innocent, let's shot for not guilty.

and you right of course! Now, if by some wild off the wall chance they are found "negligent" I can't help but thing this token gesture of 80 billion and 100 million will deflect some of the sting of any guilty sentence, what you think?

professional posture is a requirement in both law and business.

You seem to think or imply as many do I suppose, ~ Obama water boarded Heytward until he signed on the dotted line. I don't think that's how it went. BP has found it's self in a compromising position. Just like the rest of us do. And if you haven't yet, your one very smart person or you've been protected from the real world in some way or just plain haven't left the house.

  • Right Wing

The obama administration and the green alliance has its own war in progress. The gulf oil disaster is the direct attack on America that they will use to launch their renewable energy/green agenda much like homeland security arose from 9/11. It is undeniable that the green faction has been astoundingly silent on this issue. Dawn detergent is leading the new gold rush and man are they selling the shovels.

  • Bob Wire

It’s true Dawn dish detergent is a dispersant. We always kept plenty handy aboard ship. It’s very easy to foul the water with activities aboard ship. Every so many run hour ( I forget how many now, but low, 400 run hours?) Main Engines and both generators need the oil changes. On even a small twin 500 hp Detroits, that 12 gallons , both generators? another 5. ~ That 17 gallon of dirty oil in one oil change. This oil is collected, stored and off loaded eventually, by then it in two or three 55 gallon drums. ~ I’ve known of crew member to dump it in the bilge only to pump the bilge while underway. Bad practice, disgusting really, much less dangerous.

And sometimes it easy to overfill the fuel tanks and fuel spilles into the water. You do it twice in the same harbor, you can expect a heavy fine.

Rather then being tied off in a tight channel with 30 other vessel and a shinny oil slick coming from just your ship, a little Dawn in the water and Prest-o-Change-o ~ no more taddle tailing oil slick telling the Harbor Captain or Coast Guard what a dip sh1t klutz you’ve been. I don’t know where it goes, down to the bottom is my guess.

I was in Coa Coa Beach in 98 to take possession of a 140ft’er Scully hull that had been towed down from Boston Harbor. She’d been refitted and used as a “Day Sailor”, a see the whales excursion vessel back in the late 70′s. Three decks counting the sun deck.

Me and my team of 5 were to make her sea worthy and power her around the cape, across the gulf and deliver her to man that shall be nameless on the southern most tip of Texas.

in the 6 day make ready, we had shopped for prevision and I had bought a case of Dawn ~ and just on a wild fluke I bought one Palmolive as well. ~ really not sure why?

Well,~ we were tied off some 1000 yard from where these huge lines come and go, full of all the “pretty people” excited to go somewhere. I’d been wearing the same cloths for 6 days and I was the pretty one in my crew. We had some things out on the pier a rubbing and a cleaning. And up walks the prettiest little Coast Guard lady and started up an exploratory conversation with me. She point blank asked me about the soap we were using. Palmolive! I says and show it to her. I kinda wished she’d stuck around, hated to see her leave but it was a treat to watch her walk away. Made me want to join the Coast Guard and defend ~ anything!

I don’t know what a dispersant really does, except makes oil disappear from the surface of the water. But you know it goes somewhere.

    >>”The obama administration and the green alliance has its own war in progress.”<< Hm? well, I suppose it'd be foolish to let a good disaster go to waste. No one is enjoying the notion of cap and trade for all the right reasons.

What you need to do is offer a workable plan of how we can get into the position of where we need to go without Cap & Trade. Someone offer options!

We have phased out certain Fluorocarbons, R12, 500, 505, 504, 508,509. The worst offenders (the most stable compounds) and it was done by limiting supply and heavily taxing what was manufactured. A progressive tax that got higher each year and supply more limited.

Today we are phasing out R22, the most commonly used fluorocarbon ever.

It's replacement? "R410" ~ a very different animal, really works better! very unstable and degrades quickly in the atmosphere, unlike R22 that hangs around for 125 years. While it's got some nasty downsides it a great improvement for a responsible industry and all the worlds people.

But ask someone that's having to front the cost of transition and it's sour grapes.

  • U All Gibbons

I did not see the President’s Oval Office speech last week, but if you believe he offered up empty buckets of hope, then you have no belief at all. The President is forward thinking for a better future for all of us and those opposed are old fashioned and set in their ways. We, as part of a global civilization, cannot continue old energy policy. Our children deserve a sustainable planet.

1st, the “Green cops” are silent because funds are limited due to the economy; the public doesn’t need to be informed or told it is a great disaster, the public already knows. It would be a waste of limited resources for the enviromental groups to speak out.

2nd, the enviromental groups have not spoken against the President because it is not the President’s fault that this occurred. The responsible party to blame is the previous Republican administration who rewrote regulations favoring big business and disassembled existing enviromental laws and regulations.

Can you imagine if this disaster belonged to John McCain and Sarah Palin? They would be in the same boat as that other Republican who apologized to BP. Heck, I bet that McCain and Palin would be enacting legislation to give our tax dollars to BP in support of their gross misconduct. That is why I’d march in opposition to such outrageous goverment policy.

What is wrong with “a President that wants to reshape the U.S. economy right down to the last solar panel.” Somebody has got to do it or it won’t get done. In all things, the goverment sets policy for the free market. That is the way things work, whether Republican or Democrat. It’s just who’s policy do you want, those favoring big business harming the environment (Republican) or those favoring the enviroment while keeping business in check (Democratic.)

Why can’t some people realize that one day, with a new energy policy, we must “recognize that we have a robust solar and wind industry that generates vital U.S. jobs, as well as substantial state and Federal revenue from tax and royalty payments.” It is not an elimination of “big oil” jobs and money, it is just a transfer from one field to a new branch of energy production.

“It just so happens, writes The Financial Times, that wind turbine makers and solar panel companies are ramping up their pressure on Congress and getting a sympathetic ear.” I say yea, the more the better, it’s way past due. If the transition had started in ernest during the ’70′s oil crisis, we’d probably be energy independent by now. Reagan: “If not now, then when. If not us, then who.”

    • BushMaster

Are you for real? What’s wrong with the prez wanting to change everything about this economy? Well, Spanky, I’ll tell you: First of all it’s the way in which he is FORCING his will on the people, averting due process and trying to murder the Constitution Law of the land. It’s about him openly stalling all recovery and reparation efforts intentionally to fit his agenda. Open your eyes and really take a look at what’s really been going on since this Anti-American Regime, complete with “czars” took over here. We are losing rights daily, that are being replaced with unlimited spending and unprecedented tax burdens with no end in site. They are spending us into history, destroying our chances for a bright “Free American” society. God, Guns, and the Constitution are all that are needed to set things straight, so PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AMMUNITION !!.

    • Bob Wire

maybe empty buckets of hope to you but a straight forward assessment to the rest of us. We don’t need a “daddy” to tell us every things okay.

      Things are not okay!!!!!!!!

You got that? Things really suck!

I’m listening to Mike Huckabee on the TV now. What a dip wad! And this was your conservative contender? One of your “hopefuls”? The man couldn’t pour pee out of a boot if the instructions was printed on the heel. A lame “Richard” looking for a soft spot to set his a$$ets. And I was told he was a “good” man by many, thinking him worthy consideration.

To be a conservative is to be a village of Eskimos on a whale carcass carving, knowing winter is coming and you wise to be prepared! save that bone! I’ll make a spear! ~ hey! sweetheart, what can we do with this part? Think your mother would like “this?”

A rancher that thinks long and hard before bending “one blade of grass” knowing that’s what his stock considers candy.

You’ll are not conservative, You sons of a buck’s are a bunch of spoiled cry babies, wanting attention and your diaper changed.

All politicians prey on the people, the 2 party system is a big joke, but notice nobody with eyes to see are laughing. Bush wasn’t a prince, but he also isn’t nearly as damaging as the “messiah”, the “Liar king of the left”. I realize that many are blind to what is really happening here, and that really saddens, as well as infuriates me. He lied to get the seat, and has never stopped since. I beg of you to look at actions, not words. Some may like what he’s doing, and I am not one of them. But nobody can deny that his, and his administrations actions is acting in direct conflict with our Constitution, constantly bullying, bribing, and forcing his agenda down everyone’s throats. That is not the way of a President, it is the way of a Tyrant. What we really need is to throw all the lifer bums out on their arses, and elect people based on true merits and beliefs, more in line with the Founding Fathers who laid out the groundwork for the basis of this great nation.

I wouldn’t subscribe to your Christian God either. Christianity is the worst religion in the world. They are the ones who got Jesus Christ crucified. They are the ones who made people think Jesus was trying to say he was God. Christianity is so stupid they don’t even know the difference between a Father and a Son. Satin is your Christian God. Wayne, I detect in you a person with some very serious issues. I don’t know what possesses you to hate Christianity so much, but it isn’t healthy. And just to correct you on something, it is the Bible that lays it all out, not religion, or warped religious sects. I personally believe and find your rant unnecessarily offensive and totally inappropriate!!!. and just to straighten your warped pathetic rant out, it’s the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), notice that Satan isn’t mentioned there, that is because he is the enemy of God !!!. If you are going to criticize my faith you better do your homework, and then you may find that it isn’t the pile of crap you spew that it is. I will pray for you, and also pray for the Lord to take away my intense desire to bitchslap you into the next life. Please forgive me Lord.

I love Obama. He doesn’t have termites in his smile like Bush does. He doesn’t send troops to areas where the Boogyman hangs out in the woods, waiting desperately, for women and children, like they do in Iraq.
Where Obama does try to coach them to have the best of behavior. And not all connivant like Bush was, where he could care less.
Obama has fixed healthcare where we don’t have to crowd ourselves up in Public Hospitals, and Public Clinics anymore. If the environmentalists were not the idiots that they are; then they would see this horrible situation for what it is–the worst enviornmental disaster in history. Incidentally, it could be blamed on the enviornmentalists for pushing the big oilcos out into deep water; perhaps that explains their silence? It is eerie, though, that ulta liberal Hollywood has not uttred a peep; and only Republican celebs have visibly volunteered to help. Conclusion: Liberals suck bigtime. Liberals are a truly dispicable and irresponsible lot–hope they eat dirt in November. Even worse, that Obama can only make flip remarks about this devastating situation like: I can’t suck it up with a straw–pathetic. We need to sweep all the liberal trash out of the government come November. Victory is not a sure thing because as we have seen with the forced passage of so many dispicable bills, liberal progressive are underhanded, quick, ruthless, coniving and sneaky; and could give the Republicans a run for their money.

  • Merl

Yes, and with savings accounts at a whopping 2% at most and only to dive lower; with Cali state ees now on minimum wage by order of ulta progressive Repubican Swartzneger; how can anyone with a brain say Obama is doing great things for the little people? No, Obama is doing great things for his wealthy friends and his political agenda–not Joe/Jane Average. Obamas lack of action greatly added to the heartbreak, and desperation of the good people along the gulf; the seething rage of most of us; and the determination to set things right by the most enlightened and empowered. Therefore, if you feel like a sheep that has been fleeced, you are probably right because this group of Washington Ivory Tower elitists are not for the “small people.”

  • Merl

Jessica you are right on about Soros and other shadow elites.

  • Merl

Yes, many liberals are wacko nut jobs: violent, biopolar, lazy, delusional, druggies that invent disabilities to get good drugs and not have to work. Just look around most communities and see the able bodied that drive cars, go for walks, and shopping, yet do not work due to state disabilities or so called nervous breakdowns, it makes you wonder.

  • Merl

Stated disabilities, if you can get a doctor to sign off on a disability slip you don’t have to work. There is a woman in our community who takes an occasional whirl around the block in a taxpayer financed wheel chair to keep the apparent ruse going; yet is often seen at night running across the street to party with other non working neighbors–disgusting.
