Bloomberg Thumbs Nose At Rescue Workers, Clergy; Champions Mosque

Planning for a ceremony being held in New York City to remember the tragic events of 9/11 has been marred in recent weeks by reports of political jockeying for roles in the event and the failure of New York officials to allow first responders to attend, although they reportedly will be permitted to gather in a nearby park. Fox News now reports that the city’s Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, a fierce proponent of the mosque project near Ground Zero, has denied clergy members any right to involvement in the ceremonies.

Furious religious leaders throughout the country have called for the Mayor to reverse his decision. Many religious leaders believe Bloomberg, who claims a love for diversity in New York, has been unfairly partial to those of the Muslim faith as the Ground Zero mosque project moves closer to reality.

Hank Sheinkopf, a Democratic strategist and former Bloomberg employee, said of the Mayor in a recent Associated Press article regarding the mosque: “He believes in diversity and the greatness of New York is in the diversity of its people. He’s consistent. He doesn’t owe anything to anyone, and my hunch is that he’s not out of line with where most people in the city are on this issue.”

Bloomberg recently made fervent public statements about the importance of religious freedom in the United States regarding the mosque project.

“Democracy is stronger than this,” he said. “You know the ability to practice your religion was one of the real reasons America was founded. And for us to just say no is just, I think, not appropriate is a nice way to phrase it.”

Apparently, Rudy Washington, a Deputy Mayor in former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s Administration, feels the same about excluding religious leaders at the anniversary ceremony. Washington said: “This is America, and to have a memorial service where there’s no prayer, this appears to be insanity to me.”

As it stands, the 9/11 ceremony is set to include President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush as well as a handful of other political elite who will read selected poems and speeches.

    This man should be totally removed from office, he has absolutely no concept of reality.
    There is no possible way to defend the mosque project on any grounds.
    He has zero respect for anyone who died on 9/11, nor for those left behind.
    Public officials so easily forget they are not our dictators, they are our employees. They are not in place to inflict policy, but to reflect our wishes.

            Once again we have the proverbial statement thrown out there of “Separation of church and state” of which last time I read the constitution that phrase does not exist.

            Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Oh yea that’s what it says. You see the founding fathers fled Europe because of the persecution by the sanctioned (By the Govt) church that being at the time Catholicism. A history lesson in and of it self.

            But the founding fathers by their wording attempted to make sure that the government could not come in and say “OK you must be Baptist and no other faith may be worshiped” This did not mean that the government was to be sterilized from religion completely. Our basic laws where founded in the moral standards of the 10 commandments.

            The fundamental fear is when Islam is allowed to take over more of who we are as a nation we no longer are what we started out as that being a christian nation but a Islamic nation.

            And if you know anything about the core belief and teachings of Islam you would know it is the intent to take over as the only faith. Yes you have other faiths that live within Islamic nations as they will tell you but they are controlled and sometimes persecuted. I can say this as I have lived and worked with them here in the middle east for the last 9 years.

            But hey at least I can say when it is allowed to become the only religion of the U.S. I’m already prepared to live in that environment. So you have a good time living the lie of what is being fed by all MSM (Fox Included) as no news agency ever reports “the news” they just report what they know you want to here and that draws big ratings.

            The return can’t come soon enough then all this matters not!!

        What we do NOT need is the government taking sides in the establishment of religion, and on what is morality. I see a severe discrimination by the government against the free exercise of religion. And in favor of the very religion responsible for there needing to be a memorial there.

        How about if say, a Presbyterian group had wanted this area, for a large building dedicated by their faith? You’d be having whole litters of kittens about how wrong it would be. How about we let Obama’s church build the monument there, with facilities only for their faith?

        We do NOT need a a sectarian building at the location of a sectarian massacre, to honor it! Especially when other faiths are not allowed to fully participate. This in not government treating all faiths the same under the law!!

      This is another example of Up is Down and Down is Up. Sometimes I think the Lefts irrationality is made public policy to cause “Commen Sense” Americans to stroke out. The 10 year anniversary is about over 3,000 dead Americans, not about Mayor Bloomberg or Mosques. Bloomberg made this event about himself and has showed poor leadership. I don’t remember the last memorial service I attended that didn’t include some kind of religious spiritual prayer or sentiment in remembrance of the loss of some families loved one.
      If Bloomberg is so concerned with avoiding religion, then he should not be endorsing ceremonies which endorse the religious views of Atheists an organized religion of non-belief. I guess people of faith will have to organize their own memorial and let Bloomberg hold a meaningless event. I just wonder how President Bush will approach such an event with such a public snub to all peoples of faith.

      Let’s play fair, and have memorial services for baptists only, and confucious followers only, and so on covering every religion in the air and on the ground, with all other faiths denied access to the area.       One big problem with elections as I stated yesterday on a different topic is that people don’t really take the time to find out enough about the people they’re voting for. Case In Point: It wasn’t until five years ago I actually started looking up the cases on judges that were going to be on the ballot. The courthouse and law library are an excellent source and last year a lot of information was given on the internet. Same with local school councils. Even with all the information in the world Obama was still elected. I really don’t think people know what to vote for.

    9/11 is not a religious ceremony. It’s to honor those who died at the hands of terrorists. By grandstanding the Christian faith at this events is trying to make this a crusade against Muslims. The Crusades ended about 1000 years ago so this ceremony shouldn’t be about one religion trumping up themselves over another religion. That is what the hijackers attempted to do in trying to best their religion over others. Christians,Jews,Muslims and atheists died on 9/11 so should all be included in this ceremony or should all be excluded? Do you want to hear the atheists speak at this ceremony or the Muslims? You would condemn that also even though their deaths are important to their loved ones. Should our government allow only one religion to speak which would make us a theocracy. Bloomberg is saying that no religious figure shall speak (Muslim,Christian,Jew)yet they are certainly welcome to attend. No one will stop anyone of any faith from praying for the victims and all should be respected. Those 1st responders from districts outside of NYC are welcome to come but there simply isn’t enough room at the events for all of them. Many thousands or ordinary folks will also be turned away from the ceremonial grounds because of lack of room. Maybe they will set up large screens in Central Park for the overflow to appease everyone.Be sure to bring your Faith but don’t flaunt it.

      As I understand it the original memorial service in NY was an interfaith service with all three abrahamic religions represented and perhaps others. There is no reason this cannot be done this time as well. There should also be a contingent from the first responders at the service.

    Wonder where Bloomberg left his brains and/or his courage. There’s such a thing as a nondenominational service. This is America. We tolerate all religions and if others religions have problems with that they can pick up their God and go home. If Bloomberg has trouble with that he’s not very bright. If Atheists have trouble with it they can stay home. I’m tired of religion being attacked, especially Christianity. If Bloomberg could get away with just having an Imam there I’m sure he’d go along with that the way he bent over for having the Mosque next door.

    Bloomberg acts as though he’s NYC’s #1 pc agent. He’s rich, and his politics are shaky. Before anyone coughs up the idea that he’s a ‘Republican,’ no, he’s not. He’s an extreme liberal dressed up like a ‘Republican.’
    The way he’s going about this Ground Zero fiasco, you’d think his only concern is in pleasing those who don’t deserve to be pleased. When it comes to those who lost family or friends, they no longer matter. I’m really amazed that no one in NYC hasn’t come up with some new nicknames for Bloomie. I’ve got some, but I’ll wait for the media types and their disillusioned followers to have first crack at him.

    I hope the people in the audience and the first responders at the park and all True American Patriots all over the country will start praying out loud when old baggy bloomers and obumma the muslim come out to do there speeches. There words and speeches are not important for there words are from the devil and lies. Only the words of God that are spoken by his children will win. These people that don’t wish just a simple prayer to those that lost there life in this unjust tragedy will pay the price in hell. Lets all pray out loud and make sure they here us not only that day beu every day going forward.

    The problem with Bloomberg’s position on Islam is, the “ability to practice your religion” in Islam involves the virtual annihilation of religions other than Islam. If Islam is allowed to exist in the USA, strong restrictions must be placed upon it, because as a religion it is incompatible with the Constitution’s concept of “religion.”

      Hello Mac-I have to agree with you since I have studied religions around the world and have also listened to ex-Hamas-terrorist: Walid Shoebat define how Islam really is. It is a belief system that does believe in “World Conquest”, does believe in “Death rather than life i.e. martyrdom and the murder of infidals”; does not go by the Ten Commandments, has a long history of murderous acts, i.e fighting alongside the Nazi’s, lieing, honor-killings of even children who do not do as they are demanded to do, think, act, dress or anything that is not tied to their book, the Quran.
      Mayor Bloomberg is only perpetuating the imminent takeover of our country by Islamic “ideology” of non-tolerance with other religions and no amount of his money can change that. By him not allowing those who were either involved in the 9/11 massacre who were lucky enough to survive it, those who lost loved ones and by prostrating to an Imam who had been endorsed monetarily by this president of the United States to go around the world (after 9/11) to promote Islamic significance & greatness, actually slaps all real Americans in the face with disgusting dishonor. Thousands of innocent people were butchered that day, in three places in the USA, by Islamic terrorists and then the Muslims had the indecency to try and erect a mosque right where one of the wings of one of one of the planes was that was shoved into one of the Twin Towers and landed on this Burlington Coat Factory buidling, as a gesture of cold blooded jihaadist violence against America itself; “insult” is not strong enough a word. This president we have, made sure that he approved of this mosque, helped finance it’s Imam, refuses to use certain words that were in the Constitution and no one is seeing what you are seeing. Bloomberg is asking for his own annihilation and those of others because he is a consort to people who believe in our destruction as a nation. Does he not know anything about the Holocaust, Hitler, Stalin and Mussalini?!
      You are also correct about putting “restrictions” especially on this
      form of ideology since it permits violence against woman, children and those who do not conform to its demands making it a danger to our country which does tolerate all belief systems. It has already been published for years, without any resistance from the media, that Sharia Law should be instituted. Look at the many countries who have it; how many are at war? How many countries are truly what the original word “Democratic” used to stand for, but its meaning has been revised to suit the politically powerful and rich, are at peace and have freedom of religion, expression and other freedoms that America was founded on?
      There were many in Germany who would not believe what National Nazi Socialistic values actually meant and would do and millions upon millions perished. As we are watching our once proud country of America bleeding “by a thousand cuts” via our own USA people in power starting from the “top”, we are also watching the degrading of the honor for those who were mercilessly murdered on 9/11/01. “Those that do not learn from past history are doomed to repeat it” and by all looks, we are going backwards. I pray that those who refuse to see what is happening, wake up soon, start seeing what has been really going on, stop blaming the wrong people and vote to get America back before we lose it forever-do indeed see the truth before it’s too late. God Bless those First Responders be they Christian or Jewish or whoever but we don’t need to have a mosque (which, by the way means in Islam that where one is built, it means that they have conquered an area); in this particular place too close to the graveyard of thousands of innocent people who were killed in the name of “hate”. Did you know that this Imam had been given many choices to build this mosque in Manhattan and absolutely refused them? What does that say in and of itself?
      Real religion teaches love, charity, tolerance and good values.

    Reading these back and forth discussions reminds me of a couple of my friends and I were drinking and got on the subject of religion. Before it was over, we were almost fighting. Nothing stirs animosity among people more.
    If this memorial offends people so much, don’t attend it. It’s hard for me to understand why people get so upset about this, as I’m just a dumb old country boy from WV.

    When will people realize that the main goal of communists (and their usefull idiots) is to forbid religious freedom? From this religious freedom flow all other freedoms and that is why it has no place in any totalitarian regime. You do not have to have high IQ nor you have to be a believer to understand that. In my opinion (as an exulant from former communist country) freedom (and especially religious freedom = freedom to do good) is (was) the greatest America’s asset. You take away religious freedom and you have nothing left. I can only tremble and weep as I know what is the future of America if this trend continues.

    Hatred of communists against God and Christians brought unimaginable suffering to millions. I have talked to many people and read many testimonies of those who lived thru WWII in German protectorat and some surviving concentration camp and who later lived in communist country and were jailed in communist prison. ALL claim that communist state and prison were MUCH worse than the state and concentration camp managed by Nazi.
    Everybody who supresses religious freedom (including mayor of NY) plays with the fire.

      That’s true. History repeats itself. The Roman Empire was the first to suppress Christianity and due to the fact that the Israelites didn’t worship the Romans they (Romans) after several battles with Israel, were successful in removing them (Israelites) from their land (Israel).

      One of Rome’s favorite spectacles at the Colosseum (or Coliseum or Colleseum — I’ve seen this spelled so many different ways) was to feed Christians to the Lions. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe went into what we call the Dark Ages. It was Christianity that pulled Europe out of this darkness by removing illiteracy throughout the continent. Europe became a great Continent especially England, but fighting between Catholicism and Protestants became widespread and the demise of Mary Queen of the Scotts by her sister Queen Elizabeth of England is a good example. This is a good reason for the 1st Amendment to state that there will be no favortism of one religion over the other.

      The United States has never had that type of to-the-death Christian in-fighting, but what I see as an attack on Christianity in this country is exactly what the Roman Empire performed. Rome just jumped to the violence against Christians a little sooner than what is to come here in this country. Again, history repeats itself.

      Now when we look at the demise of the faith of God in Europe, it brings to mind why the Pilgrims came here in the first place and that was to practice religious freedom. Whatever Bloomberg’s reasons are, or atheist, or anyone else who can’t stand the idea of God better learn fast — YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO GET RID OF GOD!!! This has been attempted on so many levels, that it’s tiresomely redundant. History has proven that the belief in God and respect for Him builds nations. Deviating on a mass level destroys nations and renders them into the likeness of what is now the Roman Empire. It’s sad to see the United States heading in this direction.

        He does. When people cannot say a prayer in occasions like this – it is a restriction of religious freedom and it leads to totalitarian regime.
        By the way as I was living in a communist state where we did not have much freedom (what to read, listen, say, buy or where to travel; the lack of religious freedom was the most unbearable. Religious freedom is one of basic human rights.
        It would help a lot if people would travel a little bit more, speak with those persecuted for religious reasons and read a little bit of something else than what main media offer.

    This “was” a Christian nation when it was founded. That means that the leaders were godly men and recognized that our blessings, wealth, safety and power came from God Almighty. Today, there is not one statesman who has put his political career on the line to defend our Christian heritage. We can’t even show the Ten Commandments in government buildings where they once were prominantly displayed. Colleges and universities that were dedicated as Christian schools to the glory of God and to train pastors and lawyers (Blackstone was the standard English law text) have become liberal bastions which are anti-Christian to the core!

    There is no such thing as a spiritual vacuum. Where God is not honored, Satan (the prince of this world) is whether or not ylou believe it! History shows what happens when people and nations reject God. He simply removes His blessing and we destroy ourselves. He has been known to bring natural disasters as well! We are well on the way to self destruction right now, right here.

    Christians are complaining loudly, but exactly what have they done to retain the once strong national acceptance of biblical values? Are they praying daily for the lost? Do they witness by the way they live their lives? Are they teaching their own kids the truth? Do they pray as a family? Do they watch trash on TV and let their kids watch questionable computer games. There are lots of ways to contaminate our minds. When the bad stuff comes along, suddenly there is no more shame.

    The ground zero conflict is one where we will show our true colors. The Mayor has seen fit to throw God out of the ceremoniies. It is very likely that he will regret that decision. He sees himself as greater than God and that pride will take him down.

The mosque isn’t even on the Ground Zero site, and is not really planned as a memorial, but IS a place for Muslims (and guess what, the vast majority of them are NOT terrorists!) to gather and practice their religion in the Grand American Tradition. We, the people, are guaranteed the right to pray in our own time and places, but at an event sponsored by the government, it is NOT appropriate — violates the First Amendment. Wasn’t Rick Perry’s get-together bad enough?

    Talk about prayer? I just imagine there was plenty of prayer going on during and right after the attacks on 9/11! Prayer seasoned with love is never a wrong thing to do

    What is wrong with all of you people. We are all Americans and the sad part is the people with POWER and
    MONEY are the ones playing by their own rules in all areas of the playing field. The terms Liberal and Conservative are only titles. Everyone wants to have freedom and specific rights to life and liberty with TRUTH being the basis to live by.We get these people who have been in power for a long long time and suddenly they want total control. Just look at history – Napoleon, Alexander, The Roman empire, The Mongolians, Russia with Lenin and Stalin, Germany with Hitler and Japan with the so called Great Emperor and their have been so much more including the Islam Nation of corrupt Dictators. You can include power hungry people from England and throw in certain parts of Christianity too. But the end being is it is PEOPLE who always want to control other people for money and power so they can have what it is they want and their agenda. Our founding fathers did the best that they could do to establish a nation in which there would be a set of Checks and Balances to stop people like that from trying to become corrupt Dictators and using this Country to further their agenda. They weren’t perfect, they made mistakes but at least this Country tried and still tries to do what id fair by our founding fathers Constitution. Because without that we would not be this nation as we are but just another nation at war with ourselves. When people like Mayor Bloomberg and someone like Obama comes into power you can see that they have an agenda to do what they want and not what the people want. They are filled with malice for the truth of this Nation and proceed with their own agenda. So it does not matter what party you are with or what position you take, their plans will affect us all. When their are no jobs then their are none for all, when their is increase in food, fuel,and housing costs it will be for everyone. The people who do not stand up to corruptness will be out in the cold just like everyone and it wont matter the color of your skin or the party you represent. So think about where this is going. The Government has never done anything for the people that has helped to bring about cooperation until certain people who have the courage and understanding and wisdom to see beyond their own selfish desires act upon that first. In every instance we have seen individual non government people take up the stance that is based on truth and righteousness according to our Constitution and the ten commandments that is a guide to live by.And no matter have far down the road this nation goes we will be judged by those standards as a nation and as a people by a higher GOD then we can even understand, one day will will know this.
