Biden: ‘Determined’ To Act On Guns

WASHINGTON, (UPI) –  U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said he and President Barack Obama are “determined to take action” as he opened a series of White House meetings on gun violence.

Biden met Wednesday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, near the White House, with representatives from gun-safety groups, survivors of gun violence and relatives of gun violence victims. It was the first of a series of planned meetings for the task force Biden is heading at the president’s direction in the aftermath of the December massacre of 20 students and six teachers and staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

The National Rifle Association is among the groups that are to participate in the series of discussions.

As Biden welcomed participants to Wednesday’s session, with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder seated next to him, the vice president said gun violence in the United States “is a problem that requires immediate attention” and the administration has determined “executive action can be taken” — suggesting Obama is prepared to use executive orders to address gun violence if Congress does not act.

“The president and I are determined to take action,” Biden said.

He said the administration will consider a wide range of possible approaches to addressing gun violence.

“I want to make clear that we’re not going to get caught up in the notion that, unless we can do everything, were going to do nothing,” Biden said.

The task force also plans to discuss gun violence with representatives of the entertainment and video game industries, the White House said.

The best way for him (and others) to act is to lock up these lunatics before they kill someone else. Better yet, execute those who have killed. The guns don’t cause the crimes – the criminals do. Instead of destroying the guns and letting the criminals go, let’s do it the other way around.

“The President and I are determined to take action”, Biden said.
Translation- Be ready to loose some more of your freedoms. Biden indirectly said.
Dear Obama-Biden. Murder is against the law. It’s covered.
Criminals and mentally unstable people DON’T obey laws. Any new laws will just inhibit law abiders.(not the ones you need to worry about)
Taking away our rights won’t stop crime. So don’t try to make another useless law, that just infringes on our rights just to say you did something.

Part of the answer is appropriate, logical and fair early education through our school and preschool system. Our Federal Education Department director has the responsibility for guide lines in our National education direction/content and outcomes.
Good/Appropriate behavior can be described and taught. Many of our excellent schools do apply fairness and good behavior principles. Most do not because a lack of staffing.
There should be a tier procedure in the learning process starting in preschool. When a students understanding or learning falls below a standard (ex. test score(s) of less that 80%, that student is assigned to a different teacher/class that will reevaluate the students best learning style and a different approach to his training would be applied. Every student has an “on switch”, it just needs to be found. If a student again falls behind in the second class/teacher then that student is again moved to a 3rd class/teacher for more specialized teaching techniques.
The added teachers for this process will help with the unemployment statistics, their incomes will add to the tax base and our students will better compete and be more appropriately matched with their inborn interests and capability. Crime rates will go down, fewer laws and heartache and better citizenship will be a result.
Aggressive acts, depression conduct, bullying, outrage etc will decrease.
