Ben Bernanke: The Ghost Of Christmas Future

December 15, 2010 by

Ben Bernanke: The Ghost Of Christmas Future

"At the rate we’re going, it could be four, five years before we are back to a more normal unemployment rate," Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, interviewed on 60 Minutes.

You might have thought that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke could have waited until after Christmas to spring the bad news. After all, the nation is not looking for a rock in its stocking following two bad Christmases. Yet Bernanke announced his message of bad cheer Dec. 5 on the CBS program 60 Minutes.

So why did Bernanke deliver this cold truth in somber tones about America’s continuing economic crisis? Perhaps because he understands that no one in the Federal government has admitted the truth — that the nation is in for years of tough times.

That is not the message we are hearing from President Barack Obama. Almost two years since the presidential election, Obama still praises the core strength of the U.S. economy and says he is on target with his promise to “rebuild America.” “We’ve got to do everything we can to accelerate this recovery and keep our economy moving forward,” the President recently said.

Not true, wrote Project Syndicate last week. Instead, “Obama has so far managed to only describe the world that he wants; he has not been able to bring it about.”

What America needs far more than Presidential proclamations is jobs. Last week we learned that the United States unemployment rate had climbed to 9.8 percent in November, up from 9.6 percent the previous month. That puts it within a hair of the 10.1 percent peak it reached in October, 2009.

The Obama administration has pushed for unprecedented interest-rate reductions and has instituted stimulus plans to the tune of trillions of new dollars. Still, banks are freezing credit and Americans are not going back to work.

It is true that unemployment, even touching near 10 percent, is not the worst America has experienced. I was just getting started as an investment writer during the rolling recession of the early 1980s when unemployment hit almost 11 percent. But that rate of joblessness was created by a proactive Federal Reserve led by Chairman Paul Volcker. That Fed pushed short-term interest rates to almost 20 percent. That was the price the Fed was willing to pay to squeeze out the inflationary excess of the 1970s. It was a tough pill to swallow, but the medicine was digested in less than two years and the United States, led by the steady hand of Ronald Reagan, was then on firm footing.

Today, unemployment is again almost that high, and not because the President or the Fed has taken tough action. Quite the opposite is true. Bernanke’s Federal Reserve is the most permissive in the central bank’s 97-year history, and makes the 1970s Fed led by Chairman Arthur Burns look frugal.

Bernanke has driven effective interest rates to zero, and is standing by the Fed’s recent controversial decision to initiate a $600 billion Treasury bond-buying program. It is the second round of so-called “quantitative easing,” which is meant to stimulate the economy by keeping rates at zero.

According to Bernanke, the Fed may not be done yet. Responding to the 60 Minutes question about the possibility of additional quantitative easing, Bernanke said: "Oh, it’s certainly possible. And again, it depends on the efficacy of the program. It depends on inflation. And finally it depends on how the economy looks."

“How the economy looks”? I don’t know how the economy looks from Bernanke’s ivory tower, but from my office it looks terrible. And according to my best friend, who has spent nearly four decades hauling heavy loads across North America, things look even worse from the cab of his truck. He tells me that not only is the construction business not picking up, but interstate traffic is also light. Even the line-up at the U.S./Canadian border is shorter than he has seen in decades. Yet he considers himself to be one of the lucky ones this Christmas. He is still working, while nearly one in five construction workers in the U.S. doesn’t have a job.

Business can’t seem to recover. And the Fed’s actions read like a “how-to” book for a Latin American dictator. That means the economy, including the construction business, isn’t likely to pick up any time soon.

“There is, however, a good reason why America’s economic performance has been so slovenly,” says the British newspaper The Independent. “This is not a post-war crisis. It is like a pre-war crisis, a crisis which unfortunately shares many traits with the Great Depression in the 1930s. House price declines, defaults, bank failures, low interest rates, hopelessly weak credit expansion, high unemployment, depressed levels of economic activity: The ingredients were all there in the 1930s and they’re back again today.”

What is different is that the Federal government and the Federal Reserve are doing the opposite of what they did during the onset of the Great Depression. Back then the Federal Reserve raised interest rates and Washington slashed spending. Today the United States is taking on debts than would have been unimaginable a decade ago.

China and India, along with more traditional allies like Japan, have bought into Obama’s plans by lending the U.S. Treasury Department trillions of dollars. The world is hoping that this universal bailout will rescue the U.S. economy and that America’s deep recession won’t become a world depression. But unless these countries start to see things turning around, they may hit the panic button. Then it will be every nation for itself, and no country or corporation will be willing to throw good money after bad.

That of course would mean sweeping deflation like that experienced during the Great Depression. The result could be unemployment that could exceed 30 percent. That would mean mass foreclosures and waves of bank failures. The economic crisis could get so bad that Washington might even forsake the Constitution and subject Americans to martial law.

The good news — if you can call it good news — is that we don’t have to face such catastrophe this Christmas. For now at least, the world is still backing Obama and Bernanke in the greatest bailout ever attempted.

The Ghost of Christmas Future
My late dad C.V. Myers always insisted that the dark forces of deflation will always be stronger than the ability of central banks and governments to inflate weak economies.

The National Inflation Association (NIA) believes the same. After Mr. Bernanke’s 60 Minutes interview, the NIA wrote, “It is more likely that in 4 to 5 years from now, U.S. unemployment will rise to Great Depression levels. Bernanke’s policy of printing money and creating inflation will not create jobs because the money the Fed creates is going to fund non-productive and wasteful U.S. government spending. The only jobs being created are artificial government jobs.”

Action To Take:
Over the next six months we should find out if the NIA is correct. The only way to protect ourselves against either extreme inflation or extreme deflation is with physical gold. Physical silver and resource stocks will do great if we end up with inflation. If money and credit are being destroyed instead, I think you should only hold bullion and a few of the biggest gold corporations in the world. I like both Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE, ABX, $53.47) and Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE, NEM, $62.00).

Both Barrick and Newmont are at all-time highs, but I think both will go higher yet given either extreme inflation or crushing deflation. Keep in mind that during the Great Depression shares in blue-chip gold mining stocks soared. Homestake Mining stock rose continuously from $80 per share in October 1929 to $495 per share in December 1935. That was a total return of 519 percent (excluding cash dividends) during the most devastating bear market ever.

Except for a few special situations and major gold producers like those mentioned above, most of your money should be either in physical gold or physical cash. And I don’t mean in a bank account either. I don’t know what is going to happen, but if things get very bad I don’t think we can trust the banks. When it gets right down to it, we can’t trust the chairman of the Federal Reserve.

I hope I am wrong, yet fear that I am correct. All of which makes me feel like Scrooge in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. When Ebenezer’s grave is revealed he is overcome with foreboding. Frantically, he asks the Spirit of Things to Come if these shadows are what will be or what may be. The Spirit says nothing, either because it doesn’t know or because it won’t say. As for me, I simply don’t know.

Yours for better times,

The Federal Reserve banking cartel had set in motion a series of actions that would eventually transfer trillions to the bankers at taxpayers’ expense, all while decimating the investments of countless average Americans like you and I.

When the Fed gives new money to the banks and they buy Treasury Securities, they are basically earning free profits in the form of interest on those securities courtesy of American taxpayers, since the government will have to tax citizens to pay back the bonds plus the interest. Wealth redistribution, government style!

In addition to borrowing newly created money at almost no interest and purchasing treasuries to earn higher returns, the banks are also getting another massive but little-noticed central-bank subsidy: The Fed is actually paying banks interest to keep their money parked there, essentially giving the banks America’s money and paying them not to lend it out.

In mid-2009, the Rothschilds cousin and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke admitted to Congress that the Fed had distributed over $500 billion to 14 foreign central banks from 2007 to the end of 2008 — so-called “liquidity swaps.” That money was then handed out to foreign financial institutions. And of course, none of this was disclosed to the public.

Another stunning example of the Fed’s blatant market manipulation came to light in April. Even before the congressionally approved “bankster bailouts” of 2008, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) — owned by private banks and led at the time by tax dodger and current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner — “extended credit” to three limited liability companies it created.

The fake firms then began to intervene openly in the market to help certain favored firms. Incorporated in Delaware, the fake companies — Maiden Lane LLC, Maiden Lane II LLC, and Maiden Lane III LLC — used the Fed loans to purchase a variety of toxic assets from AIG and Bear Stearns, helping JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, among others.

This blatant cronyism on the part of the Fed with elitist bankers has made knowledgeable Americans upset and desirous to take action. Audit the Federal Reserve…support Ron Pauls effort to Audit the Fed.

      Audit the Fed Petition

    • HFlashman

LOL…Myers is stretched for cash this month…another article saying nothing…and shilling for people to buy gold.

      • JC

Oh look the Peanut Gallery is back.

No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.
And I most especially hope that YOU personally do nothing to protect yourself. The thought of you freezing in the dark waiting for the Kenyan to come to your rescue you gives me a very warm feeling.

Keep on being a commie tool Flash…it’s at least mildly entertaining. :)

      • libertytrain

        LOL at flashes addiction.

      • JeffH

You’re losing your swagger Flash? Oh, just for the record, I’m in full agreement with JC.

        • HFlashman

What’s hilarious is reading Myers article…what is he saying? ummm…. nothing except Bernanke is doing exactly the opposite of the monetary policies that drove the world to the Great Depression. Actually, one needs only to look at Japan’s economic policies during the 90′s to see what ay other course other than Bernanke’s Keynesian policies would lead to.

It’s certainly not a great situation, and there are absolutely some major issues needing addressing. And there are certainly odds that no one really knows what lies ahead…which is different than knowing policies are going to crash the system (i.e. Hoover’s economic policies of 1929-30).

My thoughts as to possible realistic solutions/ Adjust tax policy which places a HEAVY tax on retained earnings and cash reserves on corporations…say those cash reserves and retained earnings above 10% gross net revenues is hit with a direct 50% tax rate. Get the cash moving.

I realize I’m not the norm for this posting board. I and a few others actually think, propose realistic solutions, and tell the truth and expose the lies.

          You should practice that.

          • JeffH

Like I said Flash…you’ve lost your swagger. Kinda sucks for you doesn’t it…for most of us it’s just a good laugh…as usual!

          • DaveH

There is nothing realistic about your proposal, Flashdunce. Get over yourself. Keynesian pump priming has proven to be a failure many times in the past and will be once again (already is). Please explain to me how destroying peoples’ savings, with excess money creation (more dollars chasing fewer goods, thus inflation), is going to lead to a better economy?
Obviously, you think the people, who spend their paychecks as fast as they can, will somehow build more productivity. They won’t. One big factor that spurs people to work harder is saving for the future for the costly items that they desire, or maybe to make their kids lives easier than their own. When the purchasing power of their saving diminishes due to inflation, it totally takes the wind out of their sails and saps their productivity.
Anybody living in big debt can testify to this human effect. When a person must pay out most of his/her paycheck to debt servicing, it saps their enthusiasm for working harder. Inflation has an even more insidious effect on those who watch their hard-earned savings dwindle in buying power. Savings are generally invested by banks in growing businesses which spur productivity growth by purchasing more efficient machinery. Consumption may appear to be good in the short run, but in the long run it saps the availability of funding for productivity enhancing capital goods.
Go to and read articles by Ludwig Von Mises, or Murray Rothbard, or many others from the Austrian school of economics, to learn about Real Economics, not Political Economics such as those promoted by John Maynard Keynes. Politicians love Keynesian theory because it helps them grow their power and perks. The rest of us get screwed.

          • JC

More Communist ideology from “The Flash”.
I can’t believe ANYone could think that printing cash or monetizing debt (whatever the catch phrase of the day is)can be designed to do anything but tank the economy…and deliberately so.

          • http://?? Joe H.

the very first mistake YOU made was trying to think. You aren’t equipped!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Flushedman, did you read any of the post? Did you read and look into anything JeffH posted? Do you look into the facts of things at all, or just show up and automatically start disagreeing with those that you know are right? That seems to be your M.O. (thats method of operation), since you probably wouldnt learn what that was either. Quit arguing all the time please. If you disagree with the post, say so, and say why, even if it is just your opinion.

        • Kate8

Beberoni – Thanks for stating the obvious. About time someone did.

    • fa

And the triple whammy is that we pay for each dollar that is printed! So, we are getting bent over 3 times. I concur with the rest of your statement.
As far as the ‘audit the fed’ petition, that’s great, but they do that annually. Independent audit. Can see how many billions in profit they make. google “comprehensive annual financial report _______ (year) Federal Reserve”… In fact, you can do that for every state, incorporated county and city/town in America, as well as gov’t run pension funds. See how they not only lie about being ‘in debt’ (necessitating the ‘layoff’ of teachers, police, and firefighters), but how corporate government owns/controls companies by owning huge chunks of their stock. And they proxy vote on corporate issues.
CALSTERS (California state teachers retirement system) pays more to brokers than to their retired teachers. It’s a shell game, a scam, and we’re the ones being scammed.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And the fed has removed most of the gold, if not all from Fort Knox and moved it to the basement of the Federal Reserve in New York. Question is, how much of it is still there? I would seriously like to know the truth to that, because I believe they have already removed most of it to foreign countries, being that almost all of them are non-Americans, playing with our money, our gold and our economy. They need to be audited, and thrown out, before its too late, if it isnt already.

        • Al Sieber

B, Ron Paul, had or has a Bill before Congress to audit the gold reserves in Fort Knox. there is no gold in Ft. Knox, the International Bankers stole it.

        • http://?? Joe H.

They need to audit the fed AND Ft Knox!! When they find the gold is gone and we didn’t actually get as much cash as the fed says we did there should be a lot of people put in prison and a few put before a firing squad and shot!!!

          • Angel Wannabe

JoeH, Your Right, and I bet if they did open up Fort Knox, the only thing they’d find are bricks painted Gold.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I know for a fact, because I read a few articles, and even seen some television footage, of them moving the gold to the Fed buildings in New York. Thing is, is any of it still there? Who knows once theyve got it where they can put their grubby little fingers on it, where it will go. It sure should be inventoried and accounted for, right now, and if one piece or bar is missing, its time for some folks to start paying with their hide.

“The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to
destroy the Americans freedom and before I leave office I must inform the Citizen of his plight.” PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY(10 days before he was murdered)

On June 4, 1963, a virtually unknown Presidential decree, Executive Order 11110, was signed with the authority to basically strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the United States Federal Government at interest. With the stroke of a pen, President Kennedy declared that the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank would soon be out of business. The Christian Common Law Institute has exhaustively researched this matter through the Federal Register and Library of Congress and can now safely conclude that this Executive Order has never been repealed, amended, or superceded by any subsequent Executive Order. In simple terms, it is still valid.

When President John Fitzgerald Kennedy signed this Order, it returned to the federal government, specifically the Treasury Department, the Constitutional power to create and issue currency money without going through the privately owned FederalReserve Bank.

President Kennedy’s Executive Order 11110 gave the Treasury Department the explicit authority: “to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury.”

President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 and the United
States Notes he had issued were immediately taken out of circulation. The assassination of JFK was a warning to all future presidents not to interfere with the private Federal Reserve’s control over the creation of money. It seems very apparent that President Kennedy challenged the “powers that exist behind U.S. and world finance”.

Read “The Sad Story Of The Privately Owned Federal Reserve Bank”

Thank you,Jeff. The vast majority of assassinated US presidents are laid at the doorstep of the International Banking Cartel.

I’ve recommended before that all contributors here watch “The Money Masters”.It’s a 3 hour video that tells how we got here, but more importantly, offers a viable solution to our dilemna. It’s very rare that anyone offers a solution that would work for anything.

As much as I admire and support Ron Paul, I must hope that he is never elected President, as he will end up as have all the other assassinated Presidents who tried to buck the Fed, as I believe Dr.Paul is too good a man (and deserves better) to end up on the heap of Presidential corpses the IBC has amassed.

Watch the video, people. It’s on you tube and broken down into 22 segments, to accomodate your incredibly short attention spans. The gold standard is not the answer, because the bankers own the vast majority of the gold, already. Within days of a return to a gold standard, we would once again be under their yoke.

      God,bless and preserve America,please.

    • James

I admire President Kennedy’s intent, but presidents don’t have the power to alter federal law by Executive Order. I know they all do that but there’s nothing in the Constitution that gives the Executive Branch power to override the Legislative Branch. Executive Orders are supposed to stay within the bounds of the Commander-in-Chief in military matters.

      • Angel Wannabe

James_ Presidents are figure heads with veto power and little more.

      • DaveH

I agree, James. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you for that! Not enough people know that story!!

TO;JeffH,i have a question to ask you jeff, long ago when i was a young man,i heard my grandparents talking about this federal reserve issue in the 1960s i believe, because the dollar at that time was silver certificates, good for trading in to any bank for silver,in that conversation i remember my grandfather saying abraham lincoln was killed because he wanted total control over the american banking system, because of the interest rates that the bankers at that time wanted to charge the american people for bankrolling the american civil war on the union side, have you heard anything about that at all? i remember that my grandfather always said that was the main reason that lincoln was killed, ive looked and found no record of that possible fact, but to me its been something that i have always wondered about.

      • JeffH

vaksal, you are correct. Go to this website and read the full story.
Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy
Two presidents of the United States assassinated for the cause of justice.

        • http://GOGGLE vaksal

Thank you JeffH,i read the facts that melvin speckler wrote,i am 64yrs old and when i was not even thriteen yrs of age i heard about this, but sadly noone really took my grandfather seriously, that old rancher was dead on target,he was born in 1897,and never believed in credit cards or charging anything he couldnt pay for with cash, for it seems that in 1929 he lost the family land to a bank because of a very small loan made to buy some livestock.just shows that the international thugs doing this collaspse of this republic, have done it many times before, but thank you again for this gift of this history lesson, this has made me so upset, these bankers and the elected elite should be hung.they are traitors to the whole american people.

  • omar the tent maker

    End the FED!!!!!!

    • HFlashman

And replace it with what? Mind you…I’m asking for realistic solutions…not one which is impossible to attain

      • JeffH

HFlashman…trying the old Alinsky Marxist tactics again…won’t work, you’re damaged goods.

        Guided questioning and manipulation? Certainly!

      • DaveH

I see nothing realistic in your comment, Flashdunce. Prior to 1913, the Federal Reserve did not exist. It’s future non-existence would certainly be possible. Put in terms that even Flashdunce can understand:

      • Vicki

HF. And why should we trust your judgment on what is obtainable?

Let’s try this one while we are waiting.

Well said JeffH and Merry Christmas to you & yours!_I, here of late have just been jumping on board & then off again here on PL, because it seems all I do is parrot the same things over and over again. Quite frankly, at times it seems like we’re beating a dead horse_

Washington continues on deaf ears, in another arrogant push for additional 1.1 trillion omnibus bill, filled to the brim with ear marks. Such as, $277,000 for Potatoe Pest Management in Wisconsin $413,000 for Peanut Research in Alabama!__WTH!-Also yesterday on one of PL threads, someone posted a link thats shows, the food safety bill, may have been slipped, sleazly into the mix of the omnibus bill._Repost of the link below.
As far as the Federal Reserve goes, we’ve got an up hill battle. We’ve got a few in Congress & Senate that seem willing to take on the Fed, but the rest seem to be turnng there heads. Frankly it they look like a bunch of marathon bikers, set for a race, but they’re spinning they’re tires and getting no where. Dark times befall us all at one time or another, America is no different. Acceptance, continued hope, vigilance and prayer for divine intervention is are our saving grace. “If God is with us who can be against us.”_I’ve found if God brings you too a situation, he’ll bring you through it.
Merry Christmas to all & God Bless America!

    • JeffH

Angel Wannabe, Merry Christmas to you and yours! I agree, gotta take some time off once in awhile too. Re-hashing old news and information is important even if it’s been said time and again…short memories need to be reminded too.

      • Kate8

AngelW and JeffH – Yes, I get of it all, too, and feel like just forgetting about it. What will be will be.

Then I remember that this is what the elites are counting on, that they wear us down and we give up.

We mustn’t give up the faith. Many are coming out of their comas, and need encouragement that they are not alone, that we are many.

For those whose comas are permanent (as evidenced by some on this site), well, I say, RIP.

        • Kate8

That should have read, “I get tired of it all, too”.

Shows how tired I really am.

Perhaps the troubling times we are seeing this Christmas will cause us to look beyond the material aspect and focus on the spiritual gifts which are always abundant.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

          • Angel Wannabe

kate8, Nah, I never give up on anything I believe in, sometimes I just feel like a broken record. lol

          • Vicki

We find ourselves repeating arguments because others repeat their arguments and new people need to see at least 2 sides to be able to start forming informed opinions. It is hard sometimes but it is also good practice for us to research our positions and debate them.

Also the way the forum is set up I will often miss good opinions because they are written after I sweep thru trying to read as much as I can.
Thus repeating an argument may well allow me (and others) to catch it and study it.

          • Dan az

I know what you mean,Its like going over the same thing every day.Im tired of it all but when I look at all the new names here it gives me hope that more of us are waking up to the reality that time is of the essence and the truth needs to be put out there for everyone to see.Even when the libs try to change the subject it gives everyone a realistic view of why we are here in the first place.I would not miss a day because one day some one is going to say something to convert just one liberal to actually open his or her mind to the truth that lies in front of them.If thats possible.I have been here for a while and luv the sites that are given because im not what you would call a computer wiz its just my TV and newspaper and a place to vent.I really appreciate all of you guys and bob livingston for having a place like this.Merry xmas to all of my friends.

          • JeffH

Dan az, we all have a purpose for being here and I, for one, appreciate the comraderie that’s been built up here. We all don’t agree all of the time but we all want the same thing. As for the libs, commies and the “alphabets” that poke in here to disrupt things…they aren’t the “we” I’m talking about. It ain’t rocket science but it works and more time than not someone has something informative to contribute. We can’t let up for a second.

Keep up the good fight fellow patriots and Merry Christmas to all.

        • Angel Wannabe

Kate8 and Vicki, your both right! :)_Merry Christmas to you Both!

Angel: I’ve been reading your posts for over a year now and thank you for your sincerity. I, myself, have been praying and asking for God’s help for America. I found the answer:

what all you people are sying and writing your articals -your not writing the real truth. Our government don’t want the economy to come back.It is their intention to destroy our way of life and the economy its one of many steps they are taken. They truly want their New World Order and you guys should be telling the American people the real truth.Everything they have done in Washington and around the world(G-20)for the last 25 years is for this dream.Tell the people the truth.

    • Bob Livingston

      Dear Mack Wilson Jr.,

With all due respect, if you say we haven’t been writing the real truth about the intentions of the elected elites, you haven’t been reading. Just use the search function at the top of this page, type in Federal Reserve, and then read the articles by Chip, John and me.

      Best wishes,

      • old white guy

i’m thinking that until americans get the government off their backs and start making the things they need and want in america again things will not improve, fed or no fed.

    • Angel Wannabe

Mack,_ Most all of the Conservative here, know about the intentions of the elite and One World Order!__Just because we don’t always bring it up doesn’t mean we ignorant of it._The elites are happy & laughing at us, so are the un-be-knownst to them, “The useful idiots” on here such as flashman, who think they are doing a service by supporting the lousy legislation drive of the Washington agenda. The puppets seem to think they will be spared, when the hammer falls. It’d be interesting to know the realtruth, if they’re just paid to lie or they really believe the fantasy, that all is well in America. Although I’m not Jewish, I have a vision like that of the passover. When door ways were smeared with the blood of lambs, to stop the plagues from entering the houses of the believers. Some of the shills on here will wander in the streets, looking for protection.
My husband and I have talked plenty about this__That taxes and regulation CANNOT keep rising at this rate_at some point it has to fall, because if it doesn’t, we will eventually be consumed by it_it has to stop.

      • Kate8

Angel W – I often think of that, too. God promised protection to those whose doorposts were sprinkled with the blood of the Lamb.
That promise is still there for us today.

There are some wonderful writings about how God gave us the spring and fall feasts as a prophetic timeline. The spring feasts were fulfilled by Christ’s first coming, and the fall feasts will be fulfilled by His second coming.

These feasts were given for all of God’s people for all time. Because of the Council of Constantine, when Christianity was virtually recreated from the teachings our Lord and his early followers lived (they continued to observe and understand these feasts), these amazing truths and guidelines were ignored. In fact, our Jewish heritage was entirely thrown out.

These are the days when scripture says we will return to our Jewish roots, and Jew and Gentile will be reunited. We need to understand these ancient teachings of the Torah, because these are the times when they are coming to fruition.

        • Angel Wannabe

kate8_my front and back doors are painted red for that very reason!

        • Boldy

“Never accept the values of Earth. Be content with simplicity”

That is a quote I found in the book, God at Eventide– by A.J. Russell

It appears that we Americans will be forced to live the reality of the above quote. Pay off debt now because when the economic World tumbles down soon, we will receive no government bail-out. Shop at small family owned stores, restaurants and businesses to help your local economy stay strong. Pay off every single credit card loan- highest interest first loans first down to the lowest interest. Take advantage of credit card balance transfers where you get 1-2 years of 0% interest. Cut the new card up and pay off asap.

Take advantage of Consumer Credit Counseling groups– preferrably non profit ones and NOT ones affiliated with credit card companies. They will freeze your interest rates and help you pay off credit cards sooner.

Let this coming 2011 be a new beginning in our lives where we take control of our finances- sell what we dont need and pay down debt- Sacrifice, then replace our “feel good needs” with re-discovering the simple pleasures and natural joys in life. Volunteer helping animals at shelters, or helping your local State Park or Zoos. Learn to garden,etc.. You get the picture!

      • James

AngelW, just because you aren’t Jewish doesn’t mean you aren’t an Israelite. Only the two-tribe House of Judah (Judah and Benjamin) was referred to as ‘Jews’ in the Bible. The ten-tribe House of Israel was never so-labeled. Nor does the term ‘Jew’ necessarily mean today that such person is an Israelite. Back around 600 AD the entire nation of Khazaria became Jews, for political reasons, but if one isn’t a racial descendent of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel, he isn’t an Israelite.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

There was a book written a long time ago, called the Holy Bible, which tells that there will be a one world government coming, and that is when we are real close to the end of this rat race we know right now. Im sure you and I are not the only ones that see things racing to this point, and the Bible has never, ever been wrong. There will be a one world government that will be running things. Its inching closer to that each and every day, and it will come to pass. Its going to happen sooner or later, we just dont know when. But one can see it coming.

  • Polski

Just deport all the illegal aliens. That will do it. But guess what, out Congress is on the verge of passing an amnesty bill that will really show that our representatives are not ours, they are the illegal aliens’ representatives. All of our Congress should be deported along with the illegal aliens.

    • Al Sieber

Yup! it’ll pass on, or around Christmas Eve, they’re pouring over our borders like crazy now, they know.

      • Angel Wannabe

        That just Sux, AL.

      • Kate8

Al, The illegals have been very open about their intent to build up their numbers and then rise up against us. I believe that is one big reason why our government has allowed it. Another part of the chaos.

California is predominantly foreign now. Mexican nationals and Muslims have taken over many of our cities and towns. Where I live, which was a last bastion of conservatism, is now flooded with them. And, BTW, where we once had very little crime, it is now just as dangerous as anywhere else. There was just another home invasion up the street from me.

        • Al Sieber

Kate8, sorry about your situation, but I know its gonna pass because of the masses pouring over our borders.

        • JC

Kate, keep a semi-automatic shotgun handy and loaded.
          Know how to use it.

      • Karolyn

Actually, I have heard several reports that the numbers are down because of lack of jobs.

        • JC

          Lack of Jobs?
Why would that stop them (?)…everything is free for illegals in Obamaland.

          • Karolyn

Contrary to what you think, JC, they do want jobs so they can send money back home. My biggest problem is with Mexico itself. WTF! Why can’t they take care of their own people? Why can’t they get the drug cartels in hand? I never hear anybody bashing Mexico. I don’t understand it. Just because they’re our neighbor? We don’t need Mexico for anything.

          • JC

Ok Karolyn, so they want jobs. Fair enough. America’s history is one of people who came here for a better life and the opportunities provided by a free and innovative nation and I think that it is a wonderful thing.

BUT! As you say, Mexico has its own problems and they are doing nothing about it. Why? because there is money in those problems and the government there is acting in concert with ours to basically erase the border and destroy America. Good deal for Mexico, bad deal for America.

Not only are the actions of several administrations in a row responsible for unConstitutional / Treasonous behaviour but now they have an ally in the Mexican government.

End result: America’s crime rate is up and no one is doing anything about it.
: We can’t afford all the welfare, as much or as little as it is…we’re broke.
: Our nation is on the brink of extinction and these illegal immigrants couldn’t care less so we don’t need them.
: Our protests to our elected Reps. are ignored so the only course of action left to us is….what?
            You do the math.

    • DaveH

While I certainly don’t condone illegal entry into the country, the illegal aliens are not the cause of our bad economy. They are just a distraction. The cause of the bad economy is none other the the US Government. If you truly want to get our country back on track, the solution is Freedom. For Individual Liberty, Personal Responsibility, Free Markets, and Limited Government, vote Libertarian:

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree Dave. Undue taxation and penalties on the successful business and on the successful individual, and the rewarding of failures, via handouts, in both the business and individual status, has messed things up really bad. Why take a business, that succeeds, makes money, expands and hires people, along with keeping their current employee’s working, and punish them by taxing them more and more, then take places like GM and Chrysler, who have allowed both the corporates and the unions to pillage them to the state of bankruptcy, then reward this bad behavior with billion dollars payouts? Its insane. People can demonize big business all they want, but without them, who has a job to support themselves? Who will the US collect taxes from without them? How can our so called leaders be so dumb not to see this, and interfere with the free market process. That is the cause of many of our problems.

  • Wild Bill

    Some observations;

1, The “unemployment rate” only counts those drawing benefits and not anyone who has slowed their job search or is trying to survive on their own so the real number is higher by at least double.

2, Real people pay for food & fuel yet these are not included in the “inflation rate” so as to keep the “news” from being too depressing.

3, All omnibus legislation should be eliminated, constitutionally if need be. Amendments that do not pertain directly to the stated purpose of a bill have no business in it. This would reduce earmarks to an enormous degree along with some of the horse-trading.

Most of the TEA party recognize these major lies as such and demand honesty of those they elect. We’ve had more than enough of the good-old-boy corruption.

    • DaveH

      Good points, Bill.

    • Angel Wannabe

      Well said, Wild Bill!

  • Cribster

Might I also suggest investing in one more precious metal, lead, as in bullets.

    • Al Sieber

      I have plenty of that.

    • JC

Those that have plenty on hand may find that it is actually a currency as everyone will want some when the time comes.

      • Al Sieber

JC, you got that right, worth more than gold.

  • s c

Polski, deporting every illegal won’t solve all of our ills. It would be a good place to start. Unfortunately, we have two supreme losers in the White House, a Congress full of genetically-altered mutants and hordes of robotic followers who drool at the thought of a utopian paradise.
The main topic here is BERNANKE, THE BOOB. The only difference between Greenspan and Bernanke is that one wacko is no longer the Fed head, and the other is. They sold their rumps to get the job [kindly note that NO prez has the constitutional authority to appoint the head of a PRIVATE corporation, let alone the Fed].
In 1913, when we were saddled with this curse (the Fed), Congress should have been put in front of a firing squad, and the denizens of the White House should have been told to leave the country.
Since that time, thanks to public education and generations of retards and useful idiots in high places, America has been subjected to a daily redistribution of wealth (theft by coercion).
SCREW the idea of auditing the Fed. ABORT THE FED. SOLVE the effing problem!

    • Al Sieber

Words are indeed inadequate to express the sadness and foreboding that I have for the future of our society. The supporting pillars of family, religion, enlightened education, money, private enterprise, and self-reliance have been severely weakened or destroyed in the majority of our citizens.Without a firm individual citizen foundation, representatives who will follow The Constitution can not be elected and only lying panderers sit in Washington. The elections of 2010 offer a hope of freedom for the future, but rough times are ahead,as the Government nooses are many and entangled.Remember any government relies on voluntary compliance, States can invoke Nullification on the Federal Government, and we, as individuals, can just quit co-operating with governments that suppress our freedoms.

  • Raggs

Oh come on… You mean to tell me that they still have no clue why the economy is in the tank?

Health-reform and the over extention / unconsitutional arm of the government reaching in every aspect of our lives would be my first guess…
Everyday when I watch the news ( FOX ) I see the obamas choking America with yet another “it’s good for you” and “your too stupid to know” law that places the government one step closer to my groin..

Are these people really that F-in STUPID?…

    • Kate8

Raggs, Yes. Unfortunately, many of them are.

Products of years of dumbing down.

  • Norman F.

Going after the Fed and the Congress is a good idea, and I am all for it! But, even when you work to elect a conservative thinker, such as Scot Brown from Mass. you can wind up with another RINO as he turned out to be. Nevertheless, changing Congress is our only hope. And we must vote out every member of both houses every election cycle until we have a Congress that fears the electorate. As long as we fear the Federal Government they will do as they please without regard for our safety and well being.

I know many of you don’t understand the Tea Parties, accusing them of opposing a black President. But that is not the case. Every Tea Party I have seen or heard of is opposed to the Congress and it’s actions. We work hard to get Conservatives elected to Congress because that is where the damage is done. Go all the way back to WWII and track the laws they have passed, beginning with the WWII Reconstruction Act which gave Germany and Japan modern new factories while we tried to compete with 40 to 50 year old buildings and machinery. They followed that with monetary aid to most other countries without considering the effect it would have on our economy. (Check OPIC on the internet.) Our steel industry was sent to Germany and Japan; our textile industry went to the Caribbean Initiative, then to Central and South America and finally to the Pacific Rim countries; and, as we all know, our Automobile factories went to Mexico and the Pacific Rim. Each of those attacks on our prosperity was done by the Congress.

Now we have all those workers out of work and supported, and controlled, by the Federal Government. Do you see a pattern there? I do.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The democrat party has accused the Tea Party of being racist, in order to turn their black voting base against them, as they know what the Tea Party brings, is very appealing to all people, and their fear makes them spread lies and attack in order to keep their power over the black minority. Its the same old thing from the Democratic Party playbook. If you dont have any idea’s or plans that are worth a damn to bring forward, then attack and make the other guy look bad. That is what they have done for years.

  • JRC

Gold, buy Gold,…so you are stuck with something useless and the dealers and speculators that laugh all the way to the bank about the simpletons that buy it, can go into an early retirement after they ripped you off.
It would be far better to invest your money in something more useful such as a piece of (at this time cheap) land, tools, seeds. You can’t eat gold, and nobody in his /her right mind will trade you any food for it if this country collapses. But you don’t see that promoted here…why not? There is NO money that can be made by the con artists…the market is down, land and properties have declined in value, the bubble has burst and they can’t make any money of the sheep.
I would not be surprised if those con artists don’t use your hard earned money they coned you out of to actually buy property. They know that property values will rise again…far more then gold will ever.

    • old white guy

it will not matter how much gold, silver or diamonds you have, when there is nothing to buy. when food supplies are reduced or gone, when oil and coal have been shut off by the government and you are freeezing what the hell good is gold going to do. i’m thinking the fellow who said lead in the form of bullets will help keep you alive for awhile.

      • Kate8

I have always been wary of the push to buy gold.

First of all, if gold will be all that is worth anything, wouldn’t those who have it want to hold on to it? Why are they willing to exchange their gold for worthless fiat money?

Secondly, laws are already there for gold confiscation by the gov’t. And they will know where it all is, too. Everyone who purchased it through a gold dealer. When gold is illegal to own, how does one spend it?

And thirdly, as someone above mentioned, what good is gold if there are no products? If there is no food to buy? People will need useful things.

Scripture says men will throw their worthless gold and siver into the streets.

Seems to me it would be better to invest in food and necessities. Of course, there are laws about that, too. It will be considered hoarding, and also subject to confiscation.

        • Kate8

BTW, A friend’s neighbor was digging up his yard and found buried gold coins (worth a few hundred thou today) from the depression era. They were confiscating it then, too. Obviously, whoever buried it was unable to use it.

          • Angel Wannabe

Thats what I said down farther on the thread, why by gold or silver, if there is nothing left to buy?

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

When it comes down the truth of things Kate, God doesnt differentiate His judgment because of any wealth, power, prestige, color, nationality or anything else. There is just right and wrong, and no matter how much money or gold or property or anything people have, its just not going to make a difference. And the same thing when you die. Its not going to help you a bit. Last I looked, one out of one die, rich and poor alike.

      • Angel Wannabe

old white guy, That’s what I’m sayin!__ gold or silver are the least of my worries, if there is nothing to buy what is the point?._We’re concentrating on daily food, water and warmth

        • Angel Wannabe

OWG__Sorry type O, I meant to type “Mainly”

    • BigBlue

JRC – I believe there will be plenty of useful things to buy if the economy tanks, the dollar becomes worthless, and food is generally unavailable. Got some land or a farm that you no longer need because you are moving on? Those with the gold have something of value to barter. Got a pump and water treatment equipment? I may be interested in trading away some of my gold. Got an extra cow you can’t sell because money is completely worthless? Come find me. I’ll be ready to buy with my gold. What are you going to buy with the gold you get in exchange? I suspect that whatever you need – food, gas, bullets, land, tools, seeds – will be available to those who have the gold and silver.

      • DaveH

        Good reply, Blue.

      • Kate8

BigBlue, You didn’t address the issue of the government’s planned confiscation. It will be illegal to own gold.

        • Angel Wannabe

Kate8__ that’s the very reason Gold and Silver has to registered, so the Government knows where to go get it when it’s time to confiscate it.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

They did it once with Roosevelt, so why wouldnt they do it again?

          • http://?? Joe H.

            Angel Wannabe,
There are plenty of people that own unregistered silver and gold! They are called coin collectors!! Take silver eagles. They are one ounce of .999 pure silver and you can buy them at coin shops and never show any ID!! That means no registration!

        • Vicki

It is illegal to own certain weapons. People still do. It is illegal to own (some) drugs. People still do. And they trade these items. The market place is not eBay. :) You may have heard of it. It goes by the name of market, black.

      • Al Sieber

BigBlue, you’re absolutely right. Angel, on January 1, 2012 in the Health Care Act, any gold transaction over $600 has to be reported to the Fed. Govt.. Kate8, gold always holds it’s value. you can always print up money, you can’t print up gold and silver. there won’t be any gold confiscation because theres to much lead.

        • Vicki

There won’t be any SUCCESSFUL gold confiscation. Assuming we learned from the depression our ancestors went thru in the 1930s.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Al Sieber,
That is why you buy it at sums of less than 550 dollars! Never a registration!!!

    • Jack Russell

No one has ever gotten impeached for getting a BJ or for any other sexual indiscretion. That is a lie.

      • Vicki

Agreed. I checked. I could find no articles of impeachment that included any sexual conduct as one of the articles.

      • JeffH

It was Clinton’s obstruction and perjury from his Grand Jury testimony of “sexual misconduct” with both Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky that lead to the four articles of impeachment charged against him.

        Articles of Impeachment:

RESOLVED that William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Article 1: Perjury before Independent Counsel Ken Starr’s grand jury.
Article 2: Perjury in the Paula Jones civil case.
Article 3: Obstruction of Justice related to the Jones case.
Article 4: Abuse of Power by making perjurious statements to Congress in his answers to the 81 questions posed by the Judiciary Committee.
White House Counsel Charles Ruff declared: “There is only one question before you, albeit a difficult one, one that is a question of fact and law and constitutional theory. Would it put at risk the liberties of the people to retain the President in office? Putting aside partisan animus, if you can honestly say that it would not, that those liberties are safe in his hands, then you must vote to acquit.”

Chief prosecutor Henry Hyde countered: “A failure to convict will make the statement that lying under oath, while unpleasant and to be avoided, is not all that serious…We have reduced lying under oath to a breach of etiquette, but only if you are the President…And now let us all take our place in history on the side of honor, and, oh, yes, let right be done.”

On Friday, February 12, 1999 Clinton dodged the bullet and was thus acquitted on charges and would serve out the remainder of his term of office lasting through January 20, 2001.

About two hours after his acquittal, President Clinton made a brief appearance in the White House Rose Garden and stated: ”Now that the Senate has fulfilled its constitutional responsibility, bringing this process to a conclusion, I want to say again to the American people how profoundly sorry I am for what I said and did to trigger these events and the great burden they have imposed on the Congress and on the American people.”

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

He got impeached for perjury, you know, for telling one of his lies to the wrong people. But it didnt matter, because he never had to leave. He just hung around telling stories like he always did.

  • Kim

I agree, JRC, we are investing in more land and cattle right now. At least we’ll have something to eat or barter. I guess one could barter a gold coin, but one would have to find a lot of groceries to buy with one gold coin!

    • JC

And that’s why I prefer Silver. It’s much more negotiable.

      • Bitter Libertarian

Silver will most likely quadruple in value as the Dollar Crashes. remember…if the goverment says its safe..thats when you RUN!!!!!!!
Ben bernake said the dollar wouldnt be devalued…thats the signal that it will.

    • JRC

Good for you, the best investment I made recently was to buy 2 plows that can be pulled with oxen or horses, I bought them from an Amish blacksmith. It took a 12 hr drive to get it home but they work, its hard work, and its not easy to train the animals to pull it but I found our horses we use for the sled in the winter seem to have no problems pulling the plows. That for me was an better investment then gold or silver will ever be.

          • JeffH

          • Karolyn

Kate, It doesn’t matter what happens because this is all an illusion anyway. If the s–t hits the fan, maybe I will kill myself. Who knows? Then I’ll be free of this world.

          • JC

FEMA guests will be the ones who don’t take the medicine (vaccinations etc.) that is designed to attack our immune systems and sterilize us. It’s called “soft kill”.
Those that are interned in the camps will simply disappear.

At the rate its going, when we have another catastrophy like Hurricane Katrina, Fema wont need to bring in a bunch of trailers, they can just go a few blocks in and use all the vacant homes.

      • DaveH

What makes you think they (Government) won’t take your produce or your land? Each person must protect their money in the way that is most suitable to their own circumstances and their own preferences. For you, land works. For others Gold and Silver will work. That is the beauty of the kind of Freedom that our Founders tried to insure. That is, each person can determine what is best for their own lives, unfettered by the choices of others through the power of Government.
We need to get back to that kind of Freedom.
I am heartened by the large number of thinking people on this site. And I am hopeful that we can teach our loved ones and acquaintances also and win this country back. But as we can see from our Liberal antagonists, the battle of the minds is not going to be easy. The hard work and sacrifice that is necessary to get ahead in the real world are much less palatable than are the Liberals’ Hopes and Dreams. Removing those blinders is not going to be easy.

    • Al Sieber

Kim, you can always cut the gold coins in halves or quarters, sc is right silver is better to barter with. gold and silver got a lot of people out of Nazi Germany during WW11.

This ONE element/entity that is the keystone to corruption, attacks on our Constitution, and eliminating Freedom & Liberty.
Its the one battle (I believe) that would solve most of the others including taxation, Illegals, wars, and the corruption of both political parties.
Its the one battle that would bring us together and divide us, but in the end would set America Free.

It would take lives, shed blood but would set the example and show the world that there is a difference between the American people and their Govt.

I almost dare to say that We the people would need help (from outside our nation)with this one due to the high number of Zombie Americans pledging their allegience to Obama, socialism, communism, and the Banks/wallstreet.

Every other issue around this one issue is a result of this issue.

Monatary Control = Power = Control = Fascism = End of the Free USA.

    • Kate8

Bitter – You know all those appointments Obama has made? The corporations are now in full control of our government.

I was stunned to learn who the Secretary of Energy now is: none other than a BP exec. And the whole gulf disaster was planned. There was more money in the clean-up than they were already making, and three days prior to the ‘accident’ Dick Cheney purchased the clean-up company.

They are driving the populaton out of the Gulf region so they can set up a huge oil refinery. They want people out of all the coastal regions, so for us who live on the ‘edge’, look out.

We need an investigation into just who all these appointments are. I think we’d find them all part of global corporations.

      • Karolyn

Kae – Where did this fairytale come from?

      • Kate8

Here is the link to the story. This is one of the most shocking and troubling revelations yet, and it affects many millions of us in the US. It’s not just about the Gulf and New Orleans. We’ve all got a target on our lives.

The Gulf is just the beginning.

        • Karolyn

Just another “theory.” Not saying any of the “theories” could not be true; but does anybody really know for sure? I don’t, and neither do you. The thing is there’s nothing anybody can do about it if it is true, so why freak out over it and spread gloom and doom for no real reason Other than for Jesse Ventura to make more money? That is in itself a theory.

          • JeffH

Karolyn, if you dig deep enough, as I and others have, you’ll see some very common ties with BP, the Rothschilds Banking Cartel, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, George Soros and the Rockefellers push for a “One World Global Government”. The list is just too long, but it is real. These “conspiracies” are “perpetuated” by the very same elite families that created the Federal Reserve.

          • Kate8

Karolyn – You obviously didn’t watch the whole thing, because if you did you would have seen the documentation and the interviews with those involved.

You jump to an opinion without ever looking at the facts. It’s apparent that you don’t really want the truth.

          • Karolyn

You know what, Kate, maybe I don’t. Unless there’s something I can do about it, why should I make myself miserable over all the conspiracy theories? Why isn’t Jesse Ventura doing something about these things? He’s famous enough to get something really going. It’s all beyond me. And, I did not watch the whole thing; however I did not say it wasn’t true. Contrary to what you might think, I do believe many of the theories. In my mind, if something cannot be proven false, then it does have the chance of being true.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Because Jesse Ventura is just a burnt out old wrestler, that had no business getting elected in Minnesota, but because of his name being know, much like Al Franken and Arnold Swartzenegger, people that dont really know much voted these pukes into office. And you see the reward you get for this. None of them accomplished anything except going backwards. Franken is still there doing his damage, but his time is numbered also. Arnold is irrelevant and on his way out.

        • JC

None of this is surprising or shocking.

Nobody left the Gulf area Kate. In fact, other than some residue on the weed lines in the Marsh areas, that unfortunately will take about 3 years to go away, there is hardly any evidence this leak even happened. A lot of left wing liberal hype accompanied this bad accident, as their political agenda is so that they love to attack any business, and especially big oil. Thats all it was about. And truth be told, if it wasnt for the left, everyone knows they wouldnt have been that far out drilling either.

    • 45caliber

I sat down and tried to think of ways to pay off our debt – or get from under it. This is what I came up with:

      1) Pay it off. (Lots of luck on that with our politicians!)

      2) Declare bankruptcy. (We did once in 1933 or so. All it did was turn ownership of the money over to the Feds. And with the courts we have now, I’d expect every country in the world to sue to collect land, etc.)

      3) Repudiate the debt. (See #2 above. Also a chance of war.)

      4) Have a civil war. (This could do it since we could insist that all debts went with the war.)

      5) Dissolve the USA. (This one is most feasible. USSR did it and most of our politicians would like it. But it takes at least 3 things to create a good country – raw materials, population, and military presence. The only really good place would be Texas.)

      6) Or we could simply destroy the world. And, unfortunately, that seems the one the NWO and others are working toward.

A jobless recovery was always in the cards. Neither the fed nor the government can create any jobs that create real wealth. Remember they must always steal from us for their massive and growing payroll. In the meantime keep yourselves warm this winter by mulling over the fact that it’s going to be the unions are going to be the only folks left with a million dollar guaranteed pension and the ability to retire at 55. They’ve stolen our American dream right out from under our noses.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Theyve done wonders for GM and Chrysler now, havent they. Only cost us al a couple of billion.

  • LiarsMustBeDefeated

You may be watching for the head-fake. Forget it. The Fed is powerless to change. Congress lacks the will and the votes. The actions they should be taking are not even on the horizon. The world will be a different place in two years, probably sooner.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

In 2012, we will once again get people back to work the economy rolling, but there will come a time again, when some young, decent looking person will pay millions for TV adds, doing nothing but attacking the other guy, bringing nothing more to the table than attacks, and crying for change, and the liberal media will demonize the other guy with them, and millions of uneducated people will buy into what their brainsucker tells them, and down the drain we will go again, as taxes get raised and the free market system gets derailed by these same government lefties.

  • libra

just another means of controlling the unemployed who are now forever welfare recipients… dec. 2011 will see another plea for 13 more months of unemployment compensation. why can’t the illegal aliens be deported so that americans can have those jobs? three past presidents did just that to preserve american jobs. the government has sucked up so much money, real and created that private enterprise cannot compete. the only growth area of employment is federal employees and they are getting on average twice as much as private employment. yet the dirty politicians rail against the businesses that are sitting on their own cash and not spending as they know there is no recovery as long as the marxist sits in the whitehouse. this omnibus disastre is the final insult. we do not even know who stole the 900 billion from the first stimulus. get out the ptichforks and get ready to march. who the hell do they think they are?

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And these same business’s are not going to spend and invest, when they know the democrat tax monsters are sitting there just ready to pounce on their profits and tax them some more. Thats why I say, once Osama, I mean Obama gets kicked to the curb in 2012, we can start working again. The way the Republicans tried to reach across the aisle to work with the democrats, just to have the dems kick them in the nuts again and again, Im thinking that if we can elect a Libertarian President, and have a Republican Congress and Senate to work with, a whole lot of good could come from it.

In this business hating environment wealth is moving fast to Asia. The West is crumbling under socialism, debt, and government regulation. The left is winning their war against business. I know Romney has baggage and far from the perfect candidate but at least he has some business sense. We have to get a president who at the very least has some clue about free markets and incentives. We just saw the new spending bill the democrats put forth today. It does look like their intent is to destroy the foundation of America and turn everyone into beggars.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree. Mitt Romney has business sense, as does Mitch Daniels in Indiana. That would be a good team.

The Capitalism form of government that we have does not work. This is the end of Capitalism as we know it. We have to come up with another form of Government and economics as what we have DOES NOT WORK.

    • Bruce D.

There is no country that can flourish without capitalism and free market incentives. If it is the end of capitalism in this country it is the end of this country. China, India, and even communist Vietnam gets that as they are all now moving closer to capitalism and free a free market system. Why does the left in this country not get it? Even Castro has made statements that socialism has been a complete failure in Cuba. I do not get who you are Andrew. The top 50% of people earning money in this country pays 97% of the federal taxes. That is not socialistic enough for you. Do you just seek total government control over people? You should be told that in socialism it is not the people who benefit the most. It is government employees who live better and above everyone else. It is moving in that direction now. Millionaires in this country are mostly small business owners. They share the principles of hard work, good education, and family. You take them away and this country will not recover from it.

The government is not and cannot be Capitolist. That is a way of business, not government. At best, the government simply stands out of the way and lets the businesses go. But they aren’t doing that. What they are doing is an act of socialism – i.e, taking over businesses for the government to run. So far they have taken over GM, many of the larger banks, and are trying to take over medical care (1/9th of the business in the US alone). And, with GM as a model, they aren’t trying to get profits. Instead they are keeping the unions happy to keep the vote. If the company runs out of money who cares? The government can simply give them more tax money.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yes capitalism does work. Its when government gets in the way of the system, unfairly taxes and attacks the successful business, and takes sides and helps and supports others, that things get screwed up. If they would back off, quit taxing them unfairly, and let the free market system work, we would have a lot less problems. Higher taxation and government interference causes problems, it does not solve them.

Cartoon time Dave; The first one drove home the point of consumer excesses and our country lives on that excess. • Bruce D.

Capital drives productivity. Productivity raises the spirit of a nation and its people. Look to Cuba as a county with little productivity and a national spirit dying from socialism. You seem to forget most wage earners are capitals. They put their money in stocks, bonds, or any way in which they can make a return on their savings.

      • DaveH

The most important thing to take away is that Free Markets are voluntary, Government force is not. Wouldn’t you rather live in a world where the expenditure of your money is your choice, no one elses? If you want those greedy rich peoples’ money (in your greed), just figure out what you can do for them to earn it from them, instead of forming a gang to take it from them. I will die proudly knowing that I have never forcibly taken anything from anybody (or hired government to do that for me). How about you?

The government can’t create that kind of natural “economic growth”…they are merely parasites to it.

  • eddie47d

I enjoyed much of John Meyers comments but there are some inconsistencies. He talks about Scrooge yet failed to mention that it was the Republicans who have been against the tier 99 payments for unemployment. That is just before Christmas also and if it wasn’t for this new deal with Obama the unemployed would have done without. So there are several scrooges out there. Also Paul Volcker pushed interest rates to 20% and John agreed that it was was a good thing to do “although a bitter pill to swallow”. Yet that was the Carter era whom you all slam for pushing the interest rates so high. That is real doubletalk. He also tries to compare the depression to now. Saying the remedies then were the opposite of what is being tried now. He praised the action of the Federal Reserves and government slashing of spending during that time. I’m surprised that someone who slams the Feds and government on a regular basis has kind words for the Depression Era. You all go after Roosevelt and his “lousy” policies yet they are the opposite of the Obama Administration. Now tell me again which one has the good policies and which one has the bad policies.

    • Bruce D.

I am surprised you continually have praised for big government and the FRB. It is kind of a rat race between them. The FRB monetizes debt which destroys savings and incentives. Big government comes in with new social programs to care for those whose savings have been destroyed by FRB. Government cannot support the programs over time so borrows money to make ends meet. In return the FRB prints new money to pay the debt which creates inflation and destroys savings against. It is a heavy tax on the elderly who no longer work. A burden they should not have to bear for young people and illegals who use the social systems and do not feel obligated to fend for themselves.

    • DaveH

So you are for slavery? What do you call it when certain people get a free ride on the shoulders of others? Who do you think is paying for the free ride? Santa? I have known few people who didn’t milk unemployment benefits to the end. And then coincidentally they find a job after the benefits have run out.
The Democrats are simply buying votes with their continual unemployment extensions. Unless you live in a bubble, you surely know that most people work only if they have to, and will gladly ride on the shoulders of others if allowed.

      • eddie47d

Slavery, now that is a stretch!

        • JC

It’s not a stretch at all. When you work for the benefit of someone else, you are a slave to that system. Plain and Simple.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Let me fill you in on this unemployment thing, from a seat in the front row, as I watch this unfold live before my very eyes. And I know this case is reated thousands of times across the nation. My daughters 27 year old boyfriend, recently got out of the service. He wasnt recommended for re-enlistment, if that tells you anything, and he never bothered to learn any kind of trade in his 4 years there, which is another problem. So he has been on unemployement for over a year now, and when asked when he was going to at least go out and legitimately look for a job, both his response and my daughters, were “why should he work when they are giving him almost 400 bucks a week not to”. My daughter works, and doesnt yet understand that all these people that live on government handouts, that she is paying for it. She hasnt made that connection yet, that all of us who work, are footing the bill for the lazy arse’s that wont work. But that is the way so many people approach things now, that the world owes them a living, and they have no shame in sucking freebies out of the system. So in knowing this, and seeing it over and over first hand like this, and with more than just this boy, Im all for them stopping letting people enjoy free handouts for 2 straight years.

      • Karolyn

On the other hand, there are many on unemployment who do want to work. Why focus on those who “milk the system”. Why punish the good with the bad? Though there’s no way to prove or disprove it, I believe most people on unemployment do want to work. You can keep your negativity.

        • http://?? Joe H.

Why reward the bad with the good???

  • Peter1589

    The Prophecy of St. Nilus

After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people’s minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will become unrecognizable.

People’s appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and Christian pastors, Bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left.

At that time, the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society.

At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism and equally of remorse.

The Churches of God will be deprived of God-fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. Then they will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of lightening their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And all this will result from the fact that the Antichrist wants to be Lord over everything and become the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs.

    Telephones, airplanes, submarines

He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other. At that time men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is deceit of the Antichrist. And, the impious one! – he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.

    The coming chastisement

Then the All-good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible… then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the Perverter and his servants.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

So where are you finding the “unhappy man talking to one on the other side of the world”, and flying like birds and going to the sea depths like fish? Thank you.

  • Rennie

If I have food and you don’t, how much gold will you be willing to trade for it? I don’t think gold is the answer, and it certainly would be foolish to start throwing it around in the middle of a crisis. Invest now in the capital improvements to your home or getaway property, to secure it, live off grid, produce your own energy, food, medicinal herbs, etc. so that is all established and ready to implement, in the 10% chance I would speculate of such a crisis occuring. But then most people have fire insurance, extinguishers and smoke alarms too, right? Big gold dividends are great, but if the mail stopped or you can’t cash a check, then what?

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree. If you have food, and I have gold, but food is what we need to survive, what good would it do you to take my gold for your food? Of what worth would it be then? If things are reduced to that point, the simple things in life are the most valuable when it comes to material things. Water and food would be foremost on all peoples minds. Gold, diamonds, money, they will be of no value in that day.

  • Peter1589

If you wonder why we are losing our economy, just look at what we have done with our children since Roe v. Wade (54 million aborted with countless other millions upon millions incapable to be born due to birth control), and how we have become far more intrigued and desperate about our money than any children we could have brought into the world.

Now there are 54 million Muslims in Europe and they, NOT the resident Caucasians, are having tons of babies, while abortion and birth control and a massively graying population are the European reality. The churches are empty and most are little more than museums.

Hence, God sends against us the self-same force He deployed against Israel to chastise her. And we, who could have had an immense superiority in intellectual, industrial and financial power with a couple of new generations since 1963, instead worry and fret about our money and not the soul. Hence, ultimately, eternal damnation in Hell.

    Pray the Rosary.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The rosary is just a beaded thing, probably made in China. If you take comfort it that, so be it. But thats just part of a tradition you are enveloped in. And God says, in His word, The Holy Bible, that you people with your traditions make me want to vomit. Yes, He does say that. Put away this rosary, its just a beaded piece. It holds no power. The power is in Jesus Christ. He, and He alone can answer prayers and provide. Not Peter, not Paul, not Mary. They are all dead and buried in the ground. And they are still there. Only Jesus Christ beat the grave, and only by His name can we be saved. It is written. Silly traditions of playing with rosary beads, and doing this and doing that, are all contradictory to what Jesus teaches us in the Bible. There is nothing you can do to be saved. Nothing. You cant pray your way in. You cannot work your way in. You cannot rosary bead chant your way in. To do so would mean the cross was meaningless. Salvation is a gift of Gods grace, not by our works, let no man boast. You cannot do anything to get to heaven. You cannot earn your way in. It was all done when Christ took the nails on the cross man. All you have to do is believe and invite Him into your life. Thats it. No amount of counting on the rosary beads will do anything, except make you feel like your doing what your priest tells you. And I assure you, that wont get you to heaven. Jesus Christ will. Put your faith there, not into man or devices made by man. Those have been placed there by man to deceive. Read your Bible, its all in there.

      • Karolyn

I cannot believe you wrote this! How dare you question traditions that people have held for over a thousand years! Who put you in charge? Despite what you might believe, prayer works! Actually, it has been proven to work in healing the sick, even with people who didn’t know they were being prayed for. Sorry I don’t have the link, but there is much research into the power of prayer.

we,u.s.a. will be in hyper inflation before then. the u.s.a. is carrying toooo much debt in relatioin to incoming assets, income taxes. figure it out. why don’t the u.s. govt. print its OWN money and then the u.s. govt. will not have to borrow white toilet paper painted green from the federal reserve. the constitution says only the u.s. govt. has the power to coin(print) money. so why ia s private bank for profit that does not PAY TAXES prints money and loans it to the govt. at interest. a big rip off of the american people.

  • Anthony

So why did Bernanke deliver this cold truth in somber tones about America’s continuing economic crisis?
Perhaps because he understands that no one in the Federal government has admitted the truth — that the nation is in for years of tough times.

WRONG – Folks, this is what some Writers want you to do. And, that’s to take yourselves down the WRONG road of rationalization.

FACT: We know the MEDIA is NOT going to discuss the truth of THE FED on the evening news in ANY fashion. The MEDIA includes this little paragraph of sophistry I just quoted.

Bernanke delivering the news like he did was in response to the Nation waking up. Much like his predecessor, Greenspan (or is it Grynzpan?), the fact of the situation is THE FED controls our Government and it’s THE FED that is not (and has NOT) been telling the american people the TRUTH.

It was the Bankers that set up derivatives.
It was the bankers that had Clinton re-write the Mission Statement for Freddie & Fannie
It was the FED that ordered Clinton & Co keep using AIG as a part of this scam.
It was the FED that ordered/allowed outsiders to get in cahoots with the ponzi scheme we’re seeing now.

THE MOST GUILING FACT OVERALL – is how these Banksters are being supported in using WE THE PEOPLE as collateral for all misappropriations they ever want to invoke. The criminals in suits have no repercussions to their actions – AND THAT NEEDS TO STOP.

Only the most UN-american would make excuses for THE FED even existing in the first place. And, trust me, these UN-american types can exist in the most worrisome places… I’ve been reading Lyndon LaRouche all these last three years… and even he speaks of Hamiltonian-ism and a Hamiltonian Credit System… WHICH IS, folks… what we now have… in THE FEDERAL RESERVE … is showing itself to be quite misguided. Even if they do support/call for a Global Glass-Steagall Act.

Make Sure You Do Your Research… and be vigilant.

The bold effort the present (central) bank had made to control the government … are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it.

I am one of those who do not believe that a national debt is a national blessing, but rather a curse to a republic; inasmuch as it is calculated to raise around the administration a moneyed aristocracy dangerous to the liberties of the country

Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin!
You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the grace of the Eternal God, will rout you out.

Folks, the de jure government is seated and has not been seated ever since the Civil War because President Lincoln could not get Congress to return, thus evil foreign bankers seated themselves and began taking this wonderful country down. Want to know more and get involved? See which was recently changed. It used to be and I believe they both the same. We can do this folks if you get involved at the local County level and inhabit the de jure seats. We were successful in the very first case won here in Arizona Common Law Court protecting folks from losing their homes to evil bankers and foreclosure! It works folks…just gotta get involved. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!

It has been said that 70% of jobs in America are created by small businesses? What say we force the Fed to require that 100% of this new fiat money must be lent to the small business person. They have already approved the money. Lets argue that the first bail out was so ill-conceived that The President had to shame the CEO’s to reduce their salaries. The money was given out with no strings attached. Lets, we the People, demand the above mentioned string be attached. Politicians, while scum bags, do want to keep their all powerful positions.

Looking at the above chart unemployment was at it’s peak during the Reagan years and when Bush left office.I’m sure President Obama will fix this mess he was left with like one of Americas greatest leaders Mr. Clinton did when Reagan left office. It just takes time.America is truly blessed to have such a great leader today. But there are those that cannot see through the smoke and rhetoric of so many anti_American outlets like the Fox news channel, the Taliban and the Republican party.
