Bail Set At $1.25 Million For Doughertys

PUEBLO, Colo., Aug. 11 (UPI) — Bail was set at $1.25 million each Thursday for a Florida woman and her brothers, captured in Colorado after a cross-country drive.

Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, Dylan Stanley-Dougherty, 26, and Ryan Dougherty, 21, could face charges in Florida, Georgia and Colorado, and possibly federal charges as well, The Denver Post reported. They were represented by William Martinez, a public defender, at a brief court appearance in Pueblo County, where bail was set.

“These three have a big legal mess in front of them,” Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor told reporters Wednesday. “The main thing is these three are off the street.”

The three were arrested after tires on their car blew out on strips placed in their path on Interstate 25 by police. Lee Grace was shot in the leg by Walsenburg Police Chief James Chamberlain after she allegedly pointed a gun at him.

“I pointed the gun at the cop,” she told FBI agents, according to an affidavit. “I deserved to get shot.”

The three became fugitives Aug. 2 when they allegedly fired at police officers during a traffic stop in Florida. They allegedly robbed a bank in Valdosta, Ga., a few hours later.

All three have criminal records, although Dylan’s is only for misdemeanor marijuana possession. Ryan is currently charged with sending sexually oriented texts to an 11-year-old girl he met online.
