Bad Economic Signs 2012

Bad Economic Signs 2012
PHOTOS.COM
This year has been the most startling as far as financial news has been concerned.

In January, I wrote “Baltic Dry Index Signals Renewed Market Collapse,” an analysis of the record-breaking low hit by the Baltic Dry Index and its implications for the global economy; namely, that it signaled a steep decline in true demand around the world and that similar declines in the index’s past have almost always prophesied a crisis event in financial markets.

The mainstream media attempted to write off the implosion of the index as a fluke tied to the “overproductions of cargo ships” instead of a warning sign of deteriorating demand. The past six months have proven that assertion to be entirely false.

Manufacturing has tumbled in the United States, the EU and Asia simultaneously as orders drop back to the dismal levels last seen in 2008-2009 after the credit crisis first took hold, as reports Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, The Manufacturer and The Tokyo Times.

Despite the astonishing amount of manipulation that goes into our fiscal system by major banks, there are still a few fundamental rules to economics that never change. The bottom line is that demand around the world is derailing. Where demand goes, so goes the economy.

Economies of multiple nations move into a widely felt crisis event about eight to 12 months after the index crashes.

There is a strange delayed reaction between the initial exposure of weakness in the financial system and the public’s realization of the truth, much like Wile E. Coyote dashing off a cliff only to continue running in mid-air above the abyss below. It is a testament to the fact that, beyond the math, there is an undeniable power of psychology in our economy. The investment world naively believes it can fly, even with the weight of endless debt around its ankles; and for a very short time, that pure, delirious, oblivious belief sustains the markets. Eventually, though, gravity always triumphs over fantasy.

In May, I also discussed the impending disaster in the EU in light of elections that would obviously lead to a clash between proponents of austerity and proponents of endless stimulus spending. I suggested that this clash would trigger a possible remodeling or breakdown of the EU in the near future.

Today, I do not think that it would be outlandish to suggest (even to the casual market observer) that the EU has indeed been fractured, though the establishment still strives to maintain the façade.

Spain and Italy have both requested bailouts from the European Central Bank, finally exposing a problem that alternative analysts have warned about for years. While the mainstream media have bicycle-kicked the thoroughly dead horse of Greece, the much more detrimental problems of the rest of the EU have been ignored completely. Only now are investors beginning to understand that there is no such thing as a “Greek contagion,” and that the whole of Europe has been quietly suffering through a debt malaise that surpasses the Greek issue.

Central banks pushed the idea that Greece was the gangrenous toe of the EU; it had to be cured or amputated, or the infection would invade the entire body. But the truth is Europe has been host to a systemic disease from the very beginning. Greece is just a side note.

The U.K. has openly admitted that it has “returned” to recession. Mass credit downgrades have been issued by Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service in primary EU economies, including France and Spain. Italy’s credit rating has been cut only two notches above junk status, and its bond sales have turned to Jell-O. Spain has declared austerity cuts that include the confiscation of employee pension funds. Does this sound like an economic body near “recovery,” as was the rhetoric spouted by the MSM a year ago, or does it sound like the EU has gone off the deep end?

In the meantime, China continues to court its global trading partners with bilateral trade agreements designed to remove the dollar as the world reserve currency, and recent events appear to be hastening this process. With American and European demand faltering, Chinese manufacturers are threatened with the same export breakdown they saw in 2008. It is only a matter of time before the BRIC nations — Brazil, Russia, India and China — and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations fully solidify their trade partnerships outside of the West and away from the dollar.

This year has been the most startling as far as financial news has been concerned. It has been vastly more startling to me than 2008. This time around, the corruption has been utterly blatant and disturbingly nonchalant. The central and corporate banking interests are no longer trying to hide the fact that the entire edifice is a cheap magic trick. When criminals are no longer concerned with hiding their crimes, it is time for the rest of us to start worrying. The current behavior of the establishment leads me to believe that a new phase in the crisis is about to arise.

Three recent events in particular should be noted by those who wish to gauge the acceleration of financial hazard around the world.

Multiple Central Banks Issuing Policy Changes Simultaneously

Only a week ago, the supposedly independent and sovereign central banks of China, the U.K. and the EU made multilateral policy changes including cutting interest rates to zero and reinstituting stimulus measures within the same hour of each other.

This is a disturbing and open admission by central banks that they not only dominate the economic structure of their host countries, but they do so in a coordinated fashion. In the past, central bankers have made a point to at least pretend that they do not work in tandem with each other and are not centralized around a global methodology or hierarchy. Today, they do not seem to mind if the public is aware of how they really operate. I feel that this is the start of an expedited trend toward full centralization of sovereign economies and that central banks will act soon as if single broad-spectrum global monetary policy measures and global economic governance are “commonplace.”

Trade Volume Collapsing

Standard & Poor’s 500 Index has generated the worst market volume in more than a decade. Small-market investors are fleeing away from stocks in droves, leaving only the big players to dominate the field.

This extreme lack of volume will facilitate a return to volatility, and we are about to see the same kind of massive stock spikes and drops we saw three years ago.

The Libor Scandal

Like the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers that heralded the credit crisis, the London interbank offered rate (LIBOR) scandal has the potential to rock the pillars of the banking world. The average person needs to understand three things about LIBOR:

  1. The manipulation loans and credit swaps through the LIBOR interest rate mechanism allowed big banks to hide the true extent of their incredible debts. Some mainstream economists are actually calling this a “good thing.” According to them, the lie of LIBOR fooled investors into supporting the markets where they may not have otherwise if they had known the truth, thus the lie “averted Armageddon.” Frankly, this is idiotic. LIBOR has saved nothing, and the lack of transparency and honesty from corporate banks has only postponed an inevitable calamity that will be even worse now because it was allowed to continue on for years longer than it should have.
  2. Barclays and other institutions have claimed they had to use LIBOR fraud. Why? Because every other major bank used it. They had to lie in order to remain competitive. Even if you buy this rationalization, you have to acknowledge the deeper problem: Barclays essentially is pointing out that every major bank uses Libor to hide the fact that they are in dire straits. The system has openly confessed its own insolvency.
  3. Finally, regulators and central banks on both sides of the ocean, from the United States to the U.K., from the Federal Reserve to the Bank of England, knew about the LIBOR fraud being conducted by numerous banks as early as 2008 but kept their mouths shut. This shows not only that central banks have been complicit in financial criminal activities, but governments have played along as well. This fits right in with what I have stated for years: The economic collapse could not possibly be a “random” event. Its culmination requires the collusion of so many corporate and government entities that it would be foolish to call it anything other than conspiracy.

What comes next? According to the path I predicted back in January, the economy is near a climax event. Perhaps an announcement of a third round of quantitative easing, perhaps another bankruptcy by a “too big to fail” conglomerate or perhaps even the exit of certain countries from the EU will occur. Perhaps all of this and more will happen. The point is: Keep your eyes fixed on the financial sector as we move into fall and winter. There is a bleak harvest on the horizon.

I don’t know how the rest of you view this situation but for my 30 some odd cents of every dollar earned going to the gubmint, I’m beginning to think it not such a “wise” investment. My historic returns have been abysmal!

Makes me wonder if those “others” that made me successful wouldn’t mind chipping in a little more to ensure my continued success.

    • polmutant

not quite you still owe another 40-50$ for FED debt. deficit is another way of saying for every dollar you earn, you must pay 1.50$tax on that dollar.

      • http://gravatar.com/wandamurline wandamurline

And it is very hard to pay that $1.50 for every dollar when the dollar is only worth about 79 cents. The feds are shuffling the same money around trying to keep us afloat until after the election in November….get ready….they have been manipulating the gold and silver to keep them low in order to get people to stop purchasing precious metals and invest in the sinking dollar that is not worth the paper it is printed on because there is nothing to back it up. When they stopped the Gold Standard where money had to be backed up with gold, the paper money began losing it value and will continue to do so. If you don’t have some gold and silver, now is the time to get some while it is still low in price….because when the feds can no longer print any more money because they have no one to buy our debt, the dollar will collasp.

Your 30 cents on the dollar to the Federal government? You have only yourself to blame. Haven’t you heard? IT’S VOLUNTARY!!!!!! Of course, the IRS, when confronted about “voluntary compliance” won’t tell you the truth, and, even more unfortunately, neither will Bob Livingston. Bob would rather rant about everything else than get down to brass tacks regarding the nature of your enslavement, all the while discussing “personal liberty.” Hopefully, I will goad him into posting an article one of these days on the topic … until then, it’s like this … someone has to give you the game or you’re phugged.

The income tax is, according to the very first case heard by the Supreme Court after the passage of the 16th ammendment, Constitutional because it is NOT an anaportioned direct tax, but rather it falls outside the rule of apportionment (look up apportionment, please) because it is an INDIRECT tax, a type of excise tax, meaning a tax on privilege, and is only MEASURED by income. For instance … it is 300 years ago, before any (expletive deleted) regulations, we are out on a frozen lake in the dead of winter. We build shacks on the ice, cut our fishing holes, and commence fishing. You can catch as many fish as you like. But suppose that you are not handy building shacks or cutting holes in the ice, and ask if you may fish from my fishing hole. I say yes, BUT … every 4th fish you catch is mine. You can either agree or disagree. If you agree, you are fishing by PRIVILEGE, whereas if you fished from your own fishing hole you would do so by RIGHT. So the question becomes … what are you doing to fish out of the FEDERAL fishing hole??????????????????

The answer is USE OF A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AS A TAXPAYER ID NUMBER. According to the Social Security Administration, having and using an SSN is not required to live OR WORK in the US, write them and ask, email or snail mail, they will admit that in writing, their website is ssa dot gov. Use an SSN on the job and you convert what would be mere hire, involving 2 parties, to “employment” which involves 3 or more parties. It is as if you are going thru the federal govt. as your temp agency and are farmed out to your local employer. You are “protected” by minimum wage laws, OSHA regs, maternity leave regs, equal opportunity “employment,” overtime regs, etc. You pay into a federal pension plan, albeit one of dubious value. The federal govt. then wants their cut. Cease SSN use on the job and you incur no liability for FICA, payroll tax, medicare tax, federal income tax, state income tax, local income tax, or Obamacare tax/penalties/liability/mandates.

You may say that you didn’t volunteer because your employer forced you into SSN use. Even if that is the case, it wasn’t by law, it was by corporate policy based probably upon ignorance or fear. In bigger companies, there are people close to the top of the pile that know what the deal is but are deliberate enforcers for various reasons. If we liken this to “The Matrix” the IRS is merely the squiddies, or mindless search and destroy robots. It is corporate Amerika that operates as “Agent Smith.” Happily, you need not defeat Agent Smith, you need only put your own corporate entity to work for you as a buffer between you and whomever wants your labor or intellectual property. The corporate entity that you control can remunerate you as a non taxpayer, expensing out the cost of your labor on its corporate return under the category of “other.” The corporate entity need not show a profit. You would then be a non taxpayer and not subject to having to file.

What really SHOULD happen is some pro liberty people/pro liberty politicians should push for a law requiring a full disclosure anytime anyone anywhere for any reason asks for an SSN, the full disclosure to be in plain language, given both orally and in writing, initialled off point by point, signed at the bottom by both parties, and three witnesses or a notary public. The disclosure should disclose EVERYTHING that is relevant including tax liabilities incurred.

There’s a lot of legal fighting involved to make this stick, and there is a very real risk you will lose and end up in a federal pen. I know one person who succeeded – it took him ten years and cost him all of his assets. When the Mob can print the money to pay its agents, most people figure it’s easier to pay protection to the Mob than it is to get the Mob to leave them alone.

If you are going to invest this much effort into getting out of the system, wouldn’t it be better to put it into getting rid of the system? Quite a few people are ready to repeal the 16th Amendment and put stronger, clearer restrictions on Federal taxing authority (in particular, the much-abused permission to tax to provide for the general welfare needs to be tightened).

      • Pete Sagi

MNice: Not true. Use an SSN or other taxpayer ID number, incur a liability for the tax and then refuse to file, and yes, standby, because the IRS will come down on you like a ton of bricks, and that is the basis for your post. HOWEVER … once again … the tax is a tax on privilege, not property. If you don’t use the privilege you are a NON taxpayer and the IRS leaves you alone. You will never hear from the IRS if you never use a taxpayer ID number such as an SSN. The only evidence that you have engaged in a taxable activity would be either a W-2 or a 1099, which is an information report. No such information report will be dropped on you if you don’t use a personal taxpayer ID number such as an SSN. Meanwhile, it is your attitude/belief system based upon misinformation/disinformation that prevents people from taking efffective action. There is no effective action to take if you are busy paying for your own enslavement.

Paying taxes is optional for most people. Find out the truth here

Jim’s information is a little hard to get through, because he spends a lot of time in the details. The actual application is pretty easy and his website gives examples for you to follow.
The KEY he tries to train you for is NOT to get caught in the IRS ‘word traps’. They’ve redefined (for the purposes of the tax code) words like income, employed, and many more… so that they DO NOT mean what you think they mean in common usage. Most people think income is any money earned and so they pay taxes on all money earned. ‘Income’ in the tax code is VERY specific to certain conditions, involving interaction with the federal government, for which most people don’t qualify and thus do not need to pay the VOLUNTARY income tax. Jim tells the WHY and the HOW to not pay tax you do NOT owe.

The mainstream media either do not know the difference between supply and demand or have simply totally lost control of their senses and joined the ranks of the idiotic who refuse to deal with reality and just bury their heads in the sand, hoping that the ‘ messiah ” will soon rectify their plight. Like alcoholics who simply bury their dismay in the bottom of any available bottle. They are known as ‘ (expletive deleted) “.

They are complicit in hiding the truth from the people. They want the masses to go on as if nothing is wrong. I recommend that everybody take whatever money you can and invest in food. Hard times are coming and I for one, do not want to rely on the government. They definitely do NOT have OUR best interests at heart!

A worst-in-a-generation drought from Indiana to Arkansas to California is damaging crops and rural economies and threatening to drive food prices to record levels. Agriculture, though a small part of the $15.5 trillion U.S. economy, had been one of the most resilient industries in the past three years as the country struggled to recover from the recession.

Not from me. Climate change is VERY real. In my timeline it happens 4 times EVERY year. Why it is July right now and in the northern hemisphere that means warmer. The temp outside is 68 F. Now someday liberals tell me that normal summer will get here with global warming. (Normal here would be 85-90F). :)

Flashy, Here is the definition of the climate & the weather in Wikipedia:

WEATHER is the SPECIFIC CONDITION OF THE ATMOSPHERE at a particular place and time. It is measured in terms of such things as WIND, TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE, CLOUDINESS, AND PRECIPITATION. In most places, WEATHER CAN CHANGE FROM HOUR-TO-HOUR, DAY-TO-DAY, AND SEASON-TO-SEASON.

CLIMATE IN A NARROW SENSE IS USUALLY DEFINED AS THE “AVERAGE WEATHER,” or more rigorously, as the STATISTICAL DESCRIPTION in terms of the mean and variability of relevant quantities over a period ranging FROM MONTHS TO THOUSANDS OR MILLIONS OF YEARS. The CLASSICAL PERIOD IS 30 YEARS, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). These quantities are most often surface variables such as temperature, precipitation, and wind. CLIMATE IN A WIDER SENSE IS THE STATE, INCLUDING A STATISTICAL DESCRIPTION, OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM.[5]

        • “Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven.” (Genesis 19:24)

        • “The LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran down to the earth.” (Exodus 9:23; Exo.10:13; 14:21)

        • “The LORD sent thunder and rain that day…” (1Samuel 12:18; 2Kings 19:11)

        • “What ever the LORD pleases, He does in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. He it is WHO MAKES the clouds rise at the end of the earth, WHO MAKES LIGHTNINGS FOR THE RAIN AND BRINGS FORTH THE WIND from His storehouses.” (Psalms 135:6-7)

        • “And in an instant, suddenly, you will be visited by the LORD of hosts with thunder and with earthquake and grit noise, with whirlwind and tempts and the flame of a devouring fire.” (Isaiah 29:6)

        • “It is He, Who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom, and by His understanding stretched out the heavens. When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and He makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.” (Jeremiah 10:12-13; 51:15-16)

        • “Now the LORD GOD appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah … When the sun rose, God APPOINTED A SCORCHING EAST WIND, AND THE SUN BEAT DOWN ON THE HEAD OF JONAH.” (Jonah 4:6-8)

        • “HE (The LORD) rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers.” (Nahum 1:4)
        • “Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven.” (Genesis 19:24)

Just wait until the Chinese start dumping the Dollar, Oh wait that was last week, 7 / 13/ 2012.
Oh well can’t say no one ever told you that the Sh*t has not hot the fan yet.
Lets look at the following factors of what the effects are about to unfold.

    * The NDAA 12/31/2011, was set in place for a very good reason, that reason is the total collapse.

But before that would have its true effect felt – first there had to be a “platform,” > The war on Terror < – that was the PA passed way back in 2001 after the world took the bait of the false flag event – known as 9/11.

An other step's in the dance is the "DICCLOSE ACT" – vote this week as I recall its today. 17 /7/ 2012.

Next is the one that will allow all the others to set its firm cold steel hand on your throat. That would be none other than the
    "United Nations Small Arms Treaty."
Set for its passage by the end of the Month of July 2012.
Of what will be signed by B OMEN within hours of its passage- JFTR, this is what was started all the way back in 1961!
    Or 50 years ago.

Next will be the fact that this is one more year in a row of small to low crop yield's over the last 10 years. Thats world wide, not just here.

    Peace and Love

    • Nancy in Nebraska

I heard on the news last night that a third of the nation’s corn crop has been lost to drought, so far. (of course it IS main stream media, so who knows?). They’re saying there will be food shortages and prices of everything will be going up. I think when everything collapses, the situation will be much worse than they are predicting.

      • TIME

        Dear Nancy,

Its not just our crops, its world wide, and I would lay odds -
{Please do keep in mind I never bet on anything} that the CHEM Trails have a lot to do with all the crop failures.
As well as much of the crazy weather patterns we have been having over the last 10 years.
Lets face it, if we can seed clouds for rain, why can’t we make them not rain as well?

Also please do keep in mind that the CHEM trails have been going on since Bill Clinton started them in 1992 with the aid of the DOD.
Also that a CON Trail or ice trail – is not the same as a CHEM Trail made up of Aluminum as well other trace elements not normaly found in Air Plane fuels.

Facts in science are very straight forward, “for every Action, there is an equal reaction.”
Thats pure science no opinions – no beliefs – no hear say – just Proven TRUTH.

        Peace and Love

      • Nancy in Nebraska

I totally agree with you on the aspect of chem trails affecting our weather. There is no doubt in my mind that the “global warming” is caused by the spraying. The spraying is killing crops all over. It’s destroying our soil. It’s causing massive die offs of birds and animals and even sea life. And I believe that the extreme weather patterns weve had in recent history are Los linked to the chem spraying. They keep crying about global warming, well they should quit causing it!

Thank all of our good Senators, Congressmen and Governors for gassing all of us good Americans with Chemical poisons and protecting us from poisonous cigarettes and radioactive cell phones!
Thank all of our Presidents over the past 25 years for doing the right thing by the ones that gave them power.

I thought from the very beginning, when things first began to collapse, that what the collapse meant had everything to do with whether it was real or created. When people are hungry and frightened they will agree to almost anything. My apprehensions arose anew when the Obamanation was elected to office, the most extreme left-wing radical to ever occupy the White House. My apprehensions were elevated even further when the Republican Party crammed Romney, the most liberal Republican to date, down our throats as a possible replacement. The banksters rule the roost and their schemes are never made known.

In fact, I can not determine if FDR used the Great Depression to push through a radical socialist agenda, or if, indeed, the depression was intentionally created for that very purpose. As today, the details are deliberately murky. Their secret schemes are concealed behind a curtain of lies, distortions, and propaganda. We can only draw conjectures. Be that as it may, things are looking extremely foreboding. End of the world? I’m not so sure. But it very well may be the end of the America we knew. It is already disappearing before our very eyes.

    • Tom T

I think the depression was a more of the latter, remember the FED was relatively new at the time of the crash. I think the FED was trying to manipulate the economy to facilitate the Progressive aims of most (highly educated and enlightened) elites of the day. They simply “flexed” their new muscles a little to hard, didn’t know the actual power they had. It made the former easier to achieve. FDR learned a lot from Wilson, Lippmann and Bernays about propaganda(so did Goebbles) if you make the economy bad enough or make a big enough “boogie man”, a majority of the public will go for outrageous government expansion and entitlements and happily give away sacred personal liberties. “Never let a good crisis go to waste!”

      • DaveH

You guys give them too much credit. They are simply a big gang feathering their own nests as fast as possible. The collapse of the economies is simply a result of their theft and their ineptness. They simply are not the great economic managers that they portray themselves as. Put simply, they are parasites.

      • MAP

DaveH, I hope you are correct. Instead of a bankster take-over of the world, we can use this crisis to unseat them altogether. I believe that is Mr. Livingston’s take on this. There may be blue skies after the storm.

    • Nancy in Nebraska

I think that the things that are happening are intentional. I think that the ONLY way the “elites” can get their “new world order” is to destroy what currently exists. The people would never willingly give up everything they have to become slaves to the elite. When the collapse occurs, the people will have no choice but to come TO the government. The only alternative is starvation for them and their families. I think things are moving toward the end game. The elites are openly stealing whatever they can. They’re certainly not worried about being punished. It’s survival of the fittest. Get ready! Time is short!

      • DaveH

That would be quite a gambit on their part since revolutions (thus death of Leaders) often follow economic collapses. I think more likely that, like the gang that tries to row a boat laden with gold across crocodile infested waters, they are simply being greedy, taking as much as they can, with a lack of concern for what their actions might do to our economy.

      • Nancy in Nebraska

They’re not worried about their deaths. They think they’ve got that covered. They passed one law that gives them the right to have our own military shoot us. Then they passed the obummercare bill that gives obummer his very own domestic military force that answers to him only. Dictators are always egotistical and arrogant. Despite history, they always believe it will be different for them.

    • Jim

I agree. I’m reading “The Creature from Jekyll Island” It illuminates the history of these banksters and how they have manipulated all of humanity. The only thing we can do is walk away. Get prepared and buy silver before the window closes!

      MAP -
The depression was engineered by some group or individual(s) high up on Wall Street or who had control of America’s financial fortunes at the very highest levels – if an experience I “happened” to have in 1965 meant anything. I had a part time job transporting truckers to and from the docks to overnight lodgings. One of the drivers was obviously different in his bearing, manner, personal disposition and character from the rest. So, I struck up a conversation alone in the car taking him back to his terminal.
He asked me a few pointed personal questions and then indicated he was running for his life. But, he wouldn’t be able to hide forever. So, since he didn’t expect to live too much longer he figured it wouldn’t hurt to tell his story to me.
He rocked that innocent Midwest kid to the core. Then, I was reticent to believe him – not now.
He had been in some responsible position in a Wall Street firm and was researching some matter when he came upon some documents that revealed names, families’ and corporations’ dealings that led to and caused the depression. He indicated it was better that I know not who. He dug deeper, finding more that took it to the highest levels. He made a mistake that alerted the perpetrators to the fact that they could be exposed. They determined to assassinate him but made a failed attempt.
So, that was the what and why that led to his being a driver. Never saw him again, never shook the memory – if it’s worth anything.

God bless, have a great forever.

Mr. Smith, Americans were promised by the bush administration and backed up by the Heritage Foundation that the tax cuts of 2001 would produce long range ,8-10 years or longer, prosperity with increased revenues and jobs production. As early as 2005 leading economist were predicting a housing and finance collapse because people were not paying their mortgages All of this before Obama was even nominated much less elected. Also before he was even nominated those jobs started to head south by 2.1 million a year with a record 600,000 in one month before he was even in the oval office.
You say there were indicators of the economic slide world wide by the decrease in ship building in the freighter division that you foresaw>
Were there any indicators in our economic slide to its’ state in January 0f 2009 to indicate that it occurred before Obama had an influence on it?
Did what ever caused the mass loss of jobs in 2008 continue to effect the job market after bush left office or did it cease to effect the market on January20 2009? Some folks here seem to think we are in a whole new recession since bush left office. Just asking.

    • RickG

NC, your comment is far too shortsighted and obviously partisan. What we are seeing today is the culmination of Progressive ideology since the 1920′s and before. If they are anything, Progressives/Socialists/Marxists are patient. They have incrementally nibbled at the edges of this country for decades and have finally reached the core. Religion (Christianity), education (or lack thereof), finance, government, military have all been taken by the rot of Progressivism from the inside out. As stated above, our choice is a Progressive Republican to replace a radical Democrat – game over. The morality of this country and the world has gone done the drain – politicians and bankers lie and steal and people shrug it off and turn on their favorite reality TV show; our children have not been taught U.S. History or that this country was founded on personal responsibility and as a Constitutional Republic for decades – ask any teenager if he/she has ever read the Constitution! Nope, but they are taught that a bunch of greedy white guys broke from England to protect their wealth. Huh? So the plan concocted over 80 years ago to transform this country (and the world) is now bearing fruit and you can’t get past George Bush? OK…

      • nc

Rich, there has hardly been an administration in our history that has not had a scandal of someone trying to manipulate the “system’. It comes under human nature more than ‘EVIDENCE” OF A CONTIUING 13TH CENTURY CONSPIRACY TO OVER THROW THE FIRST GOVERNMENT of THE UNKNOWN WORLD.
Your kind cannot control the government so you make up sh*t you never prove to influence the weaker minds that is bad! What percent of all Americans in our history do you think have ever read the entire Constitution ? So you condemn todays youth?? For a long time in our history a large number of our people could not read well enough to comprehend the entire Constitution It was not automatic that that happened> Without the leadership of those who knew what it took we would not have made it! Within the last 80 years we have seen our government survive a world wide depression, win a world war, face down a major power for leadersip of the free world and survived AN adminstration that was so weak that only 26% of the people approved of it ! ALL THAT TIME WE HAVE BEEN UNDERMINED BY SOME EVIL CONSPIRACY TO END OUR CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT????? WHY WOULD THOSE EVIL “LEADERS’ INVOLVED IN THAT CONSPIRACY HAVE EVEN BOTHERED TO DO THE THINGS THEY DID JUST TO TURN AROUND AND TRASH WHAT THEY HAD ACCOMPLISHED?? LET ME GUESS! IT IS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!!!

nc, it’s like boiling frogs. If you turn up the heat slowly, they wont even notice. The people who are trying to take over our country (the world) know that we wouldn’t stand still for it. They know that they couldn’t beat us. So they made their changes very slowly so that we would become acclimated and dependent upon them. It has nothing and everything to do with bush. He’s just one of many. If you’re looking to blame one side or the other, you’re doing exactly what they want you to do. The whole system has been manipulated to make you do just that. It’s a distraction so that you won’t notice what they’re doing. They’re turning up the heat and you’re just sitting there. I don’t know about you but it’s getting a little HOT for me!!!

NC, you verbose misinformer, have you ever bothered to read this book that I’ve linked to repeatedly? I’m sure the answer is no. It’s scary to learn something, isn’t it?
        http://mises.org/books/capitalism_kelly.pdf
There is not a chance in the world that Government could ever manage an economy successfully. Everything is against that event. They could not possibly know what products are going to be in demand at any one point in time. They do not need to care if they are wrong because they suffer no repercussions for wrong choices, since it’s other peoples’ money at stake, and they are very difficult to fire.
The choice we have is between letting the consumers decide what products they desire, and letting the entrepreneurs decide how to supply those products knowing that if they’re wrong they lose, OR letting a bunch of Politicians make those decisions with the great temptations offered by Crony Capitalists who will support their re-elections with lots of campaign cash for the favors of Government Protection from competition and failure.
If you want to remain ignorant, NC, then fine, but why must you insist in dragging others into your world of ignorance?

NC says — “Dave, to what do attribute the lack of acceptence by the American people of Mises plan for our economy?”.
Mises doesn’t have a plan, NC. They are wise enough to know that nobody can plan an economy, with all its myriad consumers and entrepreneurs, successfully. They know that the best solution is to let people work things out voluntarily without the interference of ignorant control freaks. And if you are implying that a lack of acceptance means they are in error, I ask you “What percentage of the population is rich? Does that mean they’re doing the wrong things?” You certainly don’t think you’re alone in your ignorance, do you, NC?
NC say — “modern history has shown that unregulated markets only produce ponzi schemes and other schemes like outsourcing, off shoring and other tax evasions!”.
If you read the book that I’ve linked to many times, NC, you would know that regulations are usually designed by Crony Capitalists.
        http://www.amazon.com/The-Big-Ripoff-Business-Government/dp/0471789070
Do you think they’d do that to shoot themselves in the foot? And the rest are done simply to buy votes from ignorant people, like yourself, who buy into the sweet-sounding lies. Somehow, no matter how large the Federal Registry grows, we still have economic collapses. And the ponzi schemes, outsourcing, off shoring, and tax evasions you mention have all occurred with your heavily regulated markets, so how can you use them as examples of non-regulation, NC? Your logic is very weak.

Could it be that what worked for 8 million Austrians in the old world of 1934 won’t work for 320 million Americans in the new world of 2012? Thats also one reason why we have SWAT TEAMS, and have had them now for years, and you were informed about them through your TV by way of mindless sheep shows about Law Enforcment and how you needed these special units to fight crime, little did any of you think that YOU were whom they had in mind.

And we all have paid for every thing thats happened to us, and will keep going on due to all the divides we have allowed to take place.

TIME, I have to agree with you. These things have been happening for a long time now. We just weren’t aware of them. We foolishly trusted our government and believed that they were only trying to protect us and do what was best. Things are heating up so quickly now that it’s hard NOT to see what they are doing. Nevertheless, the majority of people are still asleep. They don’t see it, and without them, we haven’t much chance of changing it. All of us should have as a goal to Wake people up! Talk to everyone you know. Most won’t believe but if each of us can reach a few it will help. My fear though is that it is already too late. Collapse is coming soon and few people are prepared or capable of taking care of themselves.

      • Vicki

“We foolishly trusted our government and believed that they were only trying to protect us and do what was best.”

Our forefathers tried to warn us of that too.

Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” – Possibly George Washington.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other” – John Adams

        Dear Nancy,

How right you are, afterall why would we want to think that our Government would want to hurt us.
And they have used that to their advantage to sub divide us into smaller and smaller units. the whole political correctness rhetoric.
If someone wants to call me the N word, so be it will it kill me? No.

As well the whole guilt issue where the American people get blamed for all wrong doing of the “Criminals we harbor in the City State of the District of Columbia.”
Yet oddly enough everyone I speak with from other nations around the world seem to understand that we have a foul Criminal crew in DC and that the people are being taken advantage of by them.

That brings into question why we keep putting the same FOUL Criminals back in office time after time.
We know what they are, and yet its just so damm easy to not have to think.

Thats the very reason that Barry Sotoro was able to come out of the wood work and do what he has done.
The American people are sick of all the worthless rhetoric, and thats also why Dr. Ron Paul garnered such strong devotion from his supporters who looked at his record, and understood what he stands for.
That being the American People and the way of life we had set up over 200 years ago.

That is why the DHS is preparing for civil war in the US.

    • Ron

If the DHS were preparing for Civil War it would be because people on this site have been A-C-H-I-N-G and C-R-O-W-I-N-G for it ever since Obama was elected. All the rulership of the Confederate aristocracy have been really clear about this, from Lord Nugent all the way up to Lady Angle. “That piece of sh*t can suck on my machine gun.” to “…getting to Second-amendment-remedies.” Y’all have made it VERY clear which America you want. You guys wanna burn America down and make it like the Olde-Timey Confederacy again, with a few rich plantation owners, a bunch of dumb white sharecroppers lickin’ their boots to keep ‘em in power, and lots and lots of slaves.

You’ve hijacked the Party of Lincoln and turned it into the Party of John Wilkes Booth.

Now ya just gotta stop crowing and shut up about it long enough to look like you’re somewhat moderate/not insane and hoodwink the country in the coming election and you’ll get Cheney 2.0 back in the saddle. Maybe you can steal the country without a shot being fired, but that wouldn’t be any fun.

Rick Santorum prepared the ground for the coming Civil War, saying Americans don’t need an education to make their lives better. Two jobs at McDonalds will suit the aristocracy nicely and prevents uppityness.

Or as Hermann Goering agreed: “Education is dangerous – Every educated person is a future enemy.”

Oh, the places you’ll take us when you’ve overthrown America!

Prior to the Civil War the North was taking severe economic advantage of the South, and usurping the Constitution via the Federal Government. The South decided (as would any normal human beings in bad relationships) that they no longer wanted to be part of the Unholy Union. So Lincoln engineered a war against those who would dare to protect themselves from being exploited. Lincoln jailed thousands of people who dared to dissent against his war actions, and his war resulted in the deaths of well over 600,000 people and the destruction of the economy of the South. His administration started the now common practice by Government of aiding Crony Capitalists with taxpayer money and other uneven protections. In short, the despot Lincoln began the destruction of our Freedom by a Central Government which no longer allowed itself to be constrained by the Constitution.

To add to your comment, DaveH, and emphasize, the South LEFT, better yet, Driven from the union and started an independent country, the Confederacy. Their only intent was to form a new union outside the old. It was NOT – NEVER – in any way, to replace Washington. Inescapable fact: the South was invaded, not the other way around. Jefferson Davis said, “We just want to be left alone”. No, as a result the people of the South, both black and white, lived in Third World poverty for more than 100 years. Even today, 150 years later, waving the bloody shirt still goes on, pathetically enough. The South was driven back into this union and forced to remain, but still to the present day is refused participation, except what the establishment allows. I ask, is this what the Founders envisioned? This country is a mockery of intent.

      • daniel

Get a life dude. Apprently you have not studied american politics since its inception. The same kind of rhetoric you are complaining about has been spouted since the days of Washington unless you forgot about the Whiskey Rebellion. No I don’t advocate for violence except as a last resort. Unfortunately there are a lot of people advocating for violence either directly or indirectly. Most of those come from the peace loving liberal side of the political spectrum. It seems that they have no problem with issuing death threats against grandmothers or race baiting. Back people up against a wall and you can expect a very unfriendly reply sooner or later.
When a government refuses to listen to its populace continually it too can expect a response. It is those in power that are railed against. Cheney whom you like to disparage at every chance is a bit player in all of this who happens to be very smart. As far as Obama is concerned I never trusted the man on his own right. Race had not a thing to do with it. So far he has proven me right in spades and he is getting worse.
We are in for some very hard times in the near future. You can rant all you want as to who is at fault but what are you going to do about it? You can hoard all the gold you want but I believe that is fruitless. If the economy dumps and the dollar dives like I think it will gold possession will once again be made illegal most likely under the excuse of stabilizing the dollar value. Check out the history as it has happened before by a man FDR.
We are about to be sold a false bill of goods that will be international in nature that will claim to be able to stabilize the world economies. The tools needed will be severe and include a restriction of what we call rights in this country. I hope I am wrong but I don’t think so.

I’m just winging it here, but I had guessed you thought the liberals were pretty stupid already…

…and no, I’m not a paid plant for anybody, although if the Koch Bros. are writin’ checks, I’d be happy to supplement my income by throwin’ America under the bus with the rest of you guys.

Rick Santorum, Draft-dodgery, chicken-hawkity Ted Nugent, and of course Lady Angle made their positions on the America they want to see really clear and out in the open for everyone–and not fabricated on some Satanic Skulky Communazihomosocialist Libtard FEMA website like you guys believe.

On this site there have been repeated references to Lincoln being a traitor and John Wilkes Booth being a hero. And all of the above quotes were just that, quotes…so what part, exactly, am I being paid to “swallow”?

Hermann Goering definitely laid the first plank in the New Confederacy Party’s platform, for sure. But I know people on this site don’t want to hear any of the above. This site is an echo chamber to make sure y’all keep fearhate alive and sink the ship in order to kill the captain–in this case, Obama.

But don’t worry, you’re gonna get your way…and we’ll see what fun Cheney 2.0 brings us in November!

We don’t want cheney2.0. We don’t want any of them! This is NOT the government that our forefathers gave us! We want THAT government BACK! Government, OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people! We want our RIGHTS back!!!

Then why come here? You waste your time and ours. You aren’t here to learn. You’re here to preach some leftist nonsense that is devoid of reasoning and absent even the very basics of historical knowledge or accuracy. Your obstinate and obnoxious insinuations are stupid and insulting. Your entire fear mongering diatribe is based on something unfounded, irrational, and stupid. So stupid it’s not worth the time to discuss, more especially to someone that can stubornly talk about nothing else.

      • DaveH

Who on this board, Ron, has stated that John Wilkes Booth was a hero?
I think that you’re just making that up, you know — fabricating facts, like Liberals commonly do on this board.
But you can read several books these days which expose who Lincoln really was.
Imagine that. People have believed for many decades now that a railroad lawyer, who wanted to send African Americans to Liberia or other places, and who turned a blind eye to the killing of innocent civilians, was an “honest” person.

    • Tom T

Mark, you need to do your homework. You are right there will probably not be an “end of the world” event per say BUT, there is an economic collapse coming. Look at history of civilizations and governments, especially ones that used a fiat currency of some sort went off of the deep end with deficit spending. It always ends the same way… War and economic collapse. Right now the Standard global currency is the US Dollar. If one country does business with another they both convert their monies into Dollars and conduct trade. When Nixon took the US off of the gold standard it was due to an OPEC agreement to use the dollar (Petrodollars) as the only currency to trade oil. The euro, was created to remove the $ for eu trade. Iran is creating an oil exchange so the BRIC can bypass the dollar.(nuclear power isn’t why we are about to go to war w/ Iran it’s about the oil exchange) Russia & China have all ready said they would defend Iran if attacked. Do a little homework the US Media are not reporting on this stuff but the rest of the world media is however.

    • Power To The People

Laugh you may, but no country in history has avoided financial collapse when their debt reached the levels of ours. Do you think the US is different? If so, how will the financial mess be fixed….tax the rich? What is the solution Mark?

      • Dave Kirby

You people that keep harping about the debt, worrying about your grand kids. Don’t leave it for them, let’s just pay the damn thing off. We started doing it15 years ago and bush said, “That’s not Gummint money, that’s the people’s money so he gave us all a 3% deduction in our income taxes. I got my check for $300, I wonder what Romney, Trump and other capitalist got? Then, with the support of the Republican House, lowered the capital gains tax–Romney probably makes 50 million a year on that one.

Are you really worried about leaving the debt for your grand kids, then let’s raise the tax for everyone and pay the damn thing off.

  • Richard Pawley

Well said, only what is coming could be worse than you suppose. I fully expect prices here (in the USA) of consumable goods to at least triple. Last week I read a report that the price of food here had increased a full 57% since the Progressives took over the White House and Congress in 2008. We keep hearing in some quarters that China is in great shape and yet others are reporting tens of millions there now out of work, laid off, due to the lack of consumer demand.

Anyone who denies that an economic storm is coming is closing their eyes to the cold hard facts of reality. It should have happened years ago. In my 2006 autobiography I called what is coming “The Greater Depression” but I didn’t invent the term. I warned of the coming stock market crash but I believe we can trace a lot of the problems that grow worse every day to the 1999 law that both Democrats and Republicans supported. President Clinton signed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act of 1999 that rescinded part of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 that protected us from the Federal Reserve and it’s banks causing another Great Depression and gave banks new legal rights to do things they had never done before, and although derivatives were already increasing they mushroomed after 1999 like a cancer that now threatens to engulf the entire planet or at least it’s banking system.

You have provided more evidence that the Central Banks of the World are really One, and many have long found it fascinating that even in the Book of Revelation, the more than 19 hundred year old last and often quite cryptic book of the Bible, there is reference to a One World banking system, possibly set up by a banker but world ruler who is known as the Anti-Christ. His system will require a mark in the hand or forehead of anyone who wants to buy or sell anything. It is often referred to as the “Mark of the Beast” and is most likely a microcomputer or very advanced microchip. The Bible says that even a king will be required to have this mark IN his hand or forehead. The writer of that, Jesus’s friend John, the only apostle to die a natural death in his 90′s on the Island of Patmos, was simply recording a vision that he saw of things way beyond his understanding (“something like a burning mountain crashing into the sea and killing one third of all the creatures in the sea” – we call it a comet or asteroid – see the movie DEEP IMPACT for an idea of what will someday happen) and much more. The Bible even alludes to a future money based on what money was based on for thousands of years – gold.

The point is that those who would like to rule the world by ruling it’s money first require a crash of the whole world system so that they can rush in to “help” set up a new system to “fix” what they and we have caused. I say ‘we’ because one group of people in the world are always clamoring for more from the government which of course produces nothing and which first must take what it gives away from someone else. This new system could be coming in the next decade or two or but likely won’t happen until after the next world war. I cannot say, but I do know that the problems we are facing are mostly caused by a break down in morality. Six out of seven of the people I interviewed (privately) from across the country and Canada who were among the 200,000 to 300,000 who left the country each year during the Bush Administration told me that it was the deteriorating morality that persuaded them to leave. Only 14% claimed that it was the economy that was causing them to get out while they could. Apparently some 3,000,000 a year have been leaving under the Obama Administration, replaced by immigrants, legal and illegal.

Sadly, it is not just the United States that is printing money like crazy (out of thin air) to patch up our sinking ship of state. Many other nations are doing the same and the inflation that this is going to cause may be what causes our fiscal Titanic to hit the iceberg of reality. These may not be “The Last Days of the Late Great United States” as I called my last book but we are going to see a greatly changed nation in a few years and I don’t think anyone will be saying that it is better, even those who are working so hard to bring it about. Only a return to the basic truths of the Bible and the Constitution can keep us afloat. May God help us endure what is coming because no one else is going to do so. Dum spiro spero!

Great post Richard. There is a great earthquake beginning to move beneath our feet. Nothing within our God-less system will protect us.

Richard, your “faith” begs the questions of why “God” permitted a situation that he has the power to correct? What humans can save a situation that “God” wants to exist? How many other devout Christians have thought the true Anti Christ was someone who is long dead without ending the world?
You say our troubles began with things done before 2000 by Bill Clinton. Do you attribute any part of our problems to the fiscal and foreign policies of the bush administration and their failure to correct things you say were wrong when they had the control to do it?

I was somewhat taken aback by the number of times you admitted that your idea of future America is pure conjecture and then resorted to a book in the Bible that many many very devout Christians have used many many times to predict the demise of this world before we ever got to trickle down economics and it’s dismal effects on our country.

No, Flashman, lies and fabricated facts are what come out of your mouth daily. The facts are that the wealthy invest a much higher percentage of their income in productivity-enhancing capital goods which require more skills to operate, thus resulting in greater incomes for the operators, as well as more and cheaper goods for the consumers. Ignorant people, like yourself Flashman, would doom us to an economy with primitive labor techniques in lieu of productive capital machinery, economies like those of North Korea, or Cuba, or Haiti:

        uvuvuv,

I keep a 3 month supply of food on hand at all times. I shop about once every two weeks.
For best results, I suggest that you rotate your stock with every shopping trip. That way your stock is never more than 3 months old. As for dry goods: beans, rice, powdered milk, powdered eggs, etc: I suggest storing them in airtight containers (tupperware or something similar) and use up the stock and replace at least once every six months. As for water, I use a 55 gallon plastic feed drum with water purifier pills and change it out once a month with fresh water.

        Best Wishes,
        AJ

      • phideaux

Average Joe and uvuvuv. Many dried foods can be canned like you would wet foods. You would have to look up the procedure and what type of canner to use (water bath or pressure) but you can do it and the items last for a long time. Dry beans, rice, and noodles come to mind as dry foods that can be canned but there are others.

    • Nancy in Nebraska

As FF said, make sure the cans are not damaged or dented. If they are, the food could be dangerous to eat. If YOU drop a can and dent it, eat it right away. Otherwise the food in cans will last ten yers or more. Eventually the flavor may degrade a bit but it is safe to eat.

      • uvuvuv

thanks, nance, i will go to our local farm and fleet and stock up. i imagine nebraska’s corn is doing okay because of extensive irrigation. here we have irrigation booms at work even as i speak. but with or without our corn is green, due to a timely rain just this last friday. is sapp’s still there, with that giant coffee pot?

      • Nancy in Nebraska

Nebraska’s corn isn’t all irrigated. They said on the news that in Nebraska and Iowa they’ve lost about a third of the crops so far. The corn is much shorter than usual because the plants are trying to give what moisture there is to the development of the ears. From he outside the corn looks normal but the ears aren’t developing normally. The ears are very small and are not as full with kernels. Some ears are not growing any corn at all. they said that because corn is in most animal feed and in so many different foods, the prices of food are going to skyrocket.

And yes, Sapp Brothers is still there. So is the big coffee pot. I live about four miles west of there.

    • uvuvuv

dave, thanks info on ethanol. the epa is about to mandate 15% which will make corn shortages even worse, plus my older car probably won’t tolerate it, either in cold weather starting and in acceleration. aha, so why not buy a new car? see, this is a way to pump up car sales without that cash for clunkers boondoggle. i did not know of the market distortions the ethanol subsidies were causing. these could put sugar back in pop if hi fructo gets too expensive.

      • Power To The People

Yep, the EPA idiots forcing business to produce and use a product that gives less benefit and costs more. Corn driven E is a joke. Sugar cane is the form that actually has more octane and cheaper to produce. Got to love the idiots in government!

They are finding hundreds of new oil and natural gas fields so the supply of petro will grow and the price per barrel will fall. Companies are converting their truck fleets to natural gas now….ethanol….don’t need it.

      • Nancy in Nebraska

Ethanol is a LOT cheaper here. We’ve got one 6 month old car and one 14 year old car. They both run fine on ethanol in the summer and the winter. I like that it’s cheaper than the regular gas but I do think they should stop making it because we need the corn for food and also because so much more land is going to corn, causing shortages of wheat and other crops. Anyway, it doesn’t wreck your car and works just like gasoline.

  • Jake Goode

Actually, there IS AN OVERSUPPLY OF CARGO ships. Kind of like the real estate boom, where people built houses anticipating someone to buy it. Shipping companies built ships at a time when the daily operational cost was 15,000USD and daily hire cost was something like 300,000USD. But as this was a bubble, it has burst. I don’t think anyone is claiming that the demand is still there. But the oversupply of ships is a reality as well. Kind of like the reason why the housing market is not recovering; too much supply and not enough buyers. It’s a demand AND supply issue. NOT A MEDIA CONSPIRACY. Without a doubt we are heading for another dip in economic activity, all over the world, but as for a collapse of global proportions, that I’m not sure about. The shipping companies are scrapping vessels left and right, and not releasing any second-hand vessels to the market to cut down supply. At least on the supply end, it should even out – in a couple of years, of course!

    • Brandon Smith

I wish you were correct, Jake, but unfortunately, you are not. I welcome you to check cargo ship productions numbers for the past four years. You will not find a significant spike in ships. Certainly not one to warrant a collapse in the BDI to all time lows. The media used the same argument back in 2008 when the BDI collapsed before the derivatives bubble imploded. I would say that represents a consistent attempt to downplay the BDI. Please educate yourself on the facts before commenting.

      • Jake Goode

You are correct that in the last four years there has not been a ship production spike, but that’s only since the ‘Great Collapse’ of 2008. The fact is, up to 2008 and probably 2009 (the time it took to finish ships already under construction), there had been overproduction of ships at a breakneck pace. How many years do you think it takes to digest all of the excess inventory? Definitely more than 4. Some ships can function for 20+ years. 4 years is not enough time to bring down supply to a reasonable amount. The fact is, the big shipping companies are already taking steps to bring down supply, by not selling old vessels to the second hand market. No one is building any new ships. Scrapping operations are doing very well. Supply will, eventually, come down. Not this year, maybe not in 4-5 years, but it will happen.
I’m not saying it isn’t a demand issue either; no one is denying that due to downturn in economy, global movement of goods has slowed down tremendously. We’re definitely suffering a huge dip in demand. We’ve been in an economic crisis for about 4 years now, with no end in sight. In all likelihood, it will only get worse. But oversupply is also the issue, built up from the previous credit bubble. To say that the BDI has NOTHING to do with the supply of ships is not exactly the full story. In truth, it is a combination of BOTH oversupply and underdemand. Drop in demand is probably the larger reason for freight rate drops, but also oversupply doesn’t help. Give it at least some credit in your article, and if not in your article, at least don’t dismiss the fact by claiming others aren’t as ‘educated’ in the matter as you. FYI, I sat down with a rep from a major shipping line to discuss this recently, and deal with shipping matters on a daily basis, so I’d like to think I’m fairly educated about this. Where does your ‘education’ on the BDI come from? Please don’t tell me it’s only from print or online sources. Believing what you read is the surest way to become misinformed.

From Marx to Lenin, Gramsci & Alinsky.

Obama’s Ideological Father: “Gramsci… organized the Italian Communist party in 1921….

Since this was four years after the Russian Revolution, Gramsci assumed Italians would welcome a Bolshevik convulsion of their own. But it didn’t happen….

He found three explanations: Christianity, nationalism and charity. …the way to set the stage for a Marxist revolution was in coming to grips with these three conditions….

The first stratagem was the assault on Christianity by arguing religion should not inform or be employed in public discourse. Gramsci realized that if religion were confined to private worship, its hold on Italians would dissipate….

Second… Gramsci contended Italians were part of a grand global mission….

Last… Gramsci engaged in efforts to persuade Italians that the way, the only way, to express humanitarian concern for the poor or those left behind as the detritus of capitalism is through a government that can be benevolent….

“Obama… has suggested overtly and tacitly that religion should be a matter relegated to private worship outside the confines of public life…. [Through] his proposal to deny tax deductions for charitable gifts, government is being converted into the only public charity.

Moreover, the transfer of wealth in the stimulus package and the increased tax burden on the most productive element of society will inevitably decrease incentives and expand the size and influence of government…..

Our leaders may not identify themselves as Gramscians and may even mock the designation, but make no mistake: Gramsci’s DNA is in their bloodstream.”

Totalitarianism means total government control: No earthly freedom to deviate from politically correct ideology! No personal property that’s not subject to government regulations. No public communication without surveillance. No escape from the ever-tightening boundaries of government regulations and global standards. No personal rights to follow God and share His Truth.

The pathway to socialist oppression is no longer bloody revolutions. The omnipresent dialectic process is far more subtle and effective. Enhanced by the steady drumbeat of the media’s pervasive, suggestive and anti-Christian stimuli, minds are dulled and the masses indoctrinated everywhere.

While people in the Soviet Union knew they were trapped in a cruel system, many could still think factually and logically. Today’s managers of mind-control have nearly perfected the social “science” of collective brainwashing. How did we get here?

A time-line of the last 100 years takes us back to Georg Hegel, a German occultist who conceived the mind-changing dialectic process. His diabolical philosophy fueled Karl Marx’s anti-Christian fervor — and gave Lenin and Stalin their key weapon in their war against Christianity. After all, Communist solidarity meant the pursuit of a collective vision. And the hope of the masses must be set on an earthly Utopia, not the unchanging promises of the Biblical God.

Hindsight proves the failure of the Lenin-Stalin bloodbaths. While the masses were forced to comply, the envisioned Utopia became a deadly nightmare.

Antonio Gramsci was the first Communist leader to see through the illusion.

While firmly committed to global Communism, he knew that that violence would fail to win the West.

American workers (proletariat) would never declare war on their middle class neighbors as long as they shared common Christian values. So the Italian communist — a contemporary of Lenin — wrote an alternative plan for a silent revolution.

The main weapons would be deception, manipulation and infiltration.

Hiding their Marxist ideology, the new Communist warriors would seek positions of influence in seminaries, government, communities, and the media.

Yeah, that’s the ticket, producing too many cargo ships. Man, the straws that liberal spin will grasp at. Unless they can crank them out like a Toyota car factory, I’m not buying that line.

I dont believe Barclays did anything wrong yet I do believe the English politicians are a complete bunch of fools or worse if they are playing like actors and trying to make political mileage out of nothing wrong in what Barclay did as a defacto Central Bank of England done in concert and IMO certainly not illegal as you or those silly fools which the English call Members of Parliament and the sillier members of the House of Lords who might be supporting this outrage against the management of Barclays whose bank finances appear stronger now than other banks….and if they get worse i would blame those stupid politicians.. The executive who resigned Barclays did nothing illegal and deserve a gold embossed medal of national valour, not treated like criminals.

I watched the interrogation of the not so perfect or respectable Rupert & Lachlan Murdoch but I was disgusted by the tom foolery perpertrated by english politicians all for the benefit of the public who already knew about how the news media operated with the full knowledge and compliance of the establishment who suddenly decided to go cold turkey and suddenly become honest? What a laugh if you believe the silly acting of sincerity thrust upon their voting public. Give me a break…and the same applys with this charade they call an inquiry into Barclay and its executives…total nonsence.

    @Jake

There were no out of the ordinary spikes in Cargo Ship production from 2006-2008 either. You need to check your facts. I get my information from the stats produced by shipping companies as well as the manufacturing and export data released by major trading countries. I go to the source, which is how I was able to predict a major decline in demand that matched the BDI’s collapse. You don’t seem to grasp the fact that “oversupply” was not the CAUSE of the collapse in the BDI, only a symptom of the LACK OF DEMAND. Your knowledge on the subject is sparse at best, and you seem to be suffering from what I often call “intellectual idiocy”. You have a minimal understanding of the subject, but have convinced yourself that you are an expert, which limits your ability to learn and absorb new information that may be counter to your world view. I suggest in the future you talk less and pay more attention if you want to progress.

Really. I have worked in exporting and importing for almost 30 years now and it is certainly true that there is an over supply of new vessels. They have retired a huge number of ships and the cargo ships sail at a slower speed to conserve fuel. It is a depressed market out there and they are trying everything they can to make a profit. As a consumer, I feel their pain.

  • Jake Goode

I congratulate you on finding the BDI and going to the ‘source’ of things by consulting official statistics and manfuacturing indexes, via selective google searches. Clearly, the quality of your armchair journalism is only tempered by your ability to read selectively and exhibit extreme defensiveness whenever someone questions your opinions, manifesting insecurity in your analysis and worse yet, resorting to namecalling to back up your dubious arguments. I know predicting mass economic collapse and social chaos is much ‘sexier’ than acknowledging subtle and complex economic forces at work, and hey, it is much more fun to dig a hole for shelter in the backyard and barter with people for vegetables than actually consider that the devil’s train may not be going as fast as you think.

In case you did not notice, in your fury to call me an ‘intellectual idiot’, I do not disagree with you that the BDI has fallen due to a collapse of demand. BUT IT IS NOT THE ONLY CAUSE. Oversupply of shipts and lack of demand are what you could call ‘concurrent causes’; it is pure speculation in which degree they contribute to overall price depression. Further, in your selective reading of my post (no doubt due to you being convinced anyone but you has minimal understanding of the subject), did you notice that I agreed that LACK OF DEMAND was probably the bigger factor? But if we are getting to the heart of the debate, and your claim that the ‘collapse’ of the BDI (whoops, it just rebounded recently, I guess that’s not quite the collapse you envisioned) is purely due to demand-side factors, I must say that this is merely an opinion which is nowhere supported by fact, and that it is INCORRECT because there is CLEARLY an oversupply of ships at the moment. For you to claim that the oversupply of ships has NOTHING to do with depression of prices is actually idiotic, because 1) it misses the whole Econ 101 supply-demand thing based on fact of ship oversupply and 2) exhibits narrow thinking akin to stupidity, assuming that only you can grasp this very complex problem. Remember, there is a difference between being ignorant (which is excusable) and stupid (wilful ignorance).

Here is a headline (two weeks ago) that states a SE Asian shipping company is investing USD $320 million in purchasing 12 vessels (6 second-hand, 6 new) to capitalize on the low market. Why second-hand? Because there are a lot of idle second hand ships available now at low prices (i.e. oversupply). Why new? Because it is cheap to build a ship now, and the company expects shipping demand to go up. They are putting ‘their money where their mouth is’. If people who work closely with shipping every day, and stand to lose so much money if they’re wrong are taking the gamble, maybe it isn’t all doom and gloom as you imagine? But I already know your answer, ‘they have a myopic view of the problem, as only I have the research material and acument to wrap my head around the upcoming economic catastrophe. Besides that’s just one example, and I have statistics, look at http://www.economiccrisisparanoia.com, which states that…’

    FYI, here is the article:
July 17, 2012 – TAA aims to double fleet size
    http://www.thoresenshipping.com/src/file/download/20120717-TSS-BangkokPost.pdf

To finish, can I offer a query? How many onions does it take to barter for three carrots? That’s a problem I would take your opinion on.
