The Business Of War

The American government’s favorite industry is war.

It is making war on five nations right now: Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen and Libya. The drumbeats for war on Iran are sounding, growing louder and louder. But before Iran will be Syria, as the United States tightens the noose around Iran.

President Barack Obama promised to extricate the U.S. from foreign wars. Instead, he’s starting new ones. The silence of the anti-war left is deafening. Where they loudly opposed President George W. Bush’s wars, they support Obama; if not openly, then through their silence.

The Republican Presidential contenders — save Representative Ron Paul — all want more war. In the debate prior to the Ames Straw Poll, they all indicated a desire to make war on Iran.

Neocons, especially, love war. But the war crowd exists on both the right and left sides. They are two sides of the same coin.

The war machine is at full throttle and has been for more than two decades. Do you realize there are now adults who have never lived during a time when the United States was not at war with a Middle Eastern nation? We are at war with Eurasia, or is it Eastasia? It’s both, and it projects to continue for decades.

The elected elites love war at home, too. They are fomenting war among the American people, and it is breaking out. As surely as class warfare was behind the riots in Great Britain, it is on the cusp of erupting here.

Will You Survive
If The Unthinkable Happens?

You can’t turn on the Evening News these days without hearing about terrorist attacks… the latest natural disaster… acts of social unrest… and economic woes.

And then you lie awake all night, wondering how to keep your family safe
The harsh reality is … you never know when some sort of catastrophe is going to hit—and you never know how bad it will be or how long it will last.  The only way to guarantee that you and your family survive is to be prepared.

It’s easier than you think.  You can get simple, proven steps for surviving just about any kind of disaster – and come out of it financially stronger … more independent … more self-reliant … and even healthier than you are now.  Just click here.

The elites play classes off one another. They denounce the rich as the evil. They promote a lie, lumping into a group both hard-working and innovative entrepreneurs who made it by the sweat of their brow and the crony capitalists they created themselves, and then call them all rich.

They take an arbitrary figure, pulled out of thin air, and set it as the Rubicon. Cross it and somehow you were luckier than most, got a break someone else never got. Yachts and airplanes are demonized, while the elected elites vacation on yachts bought by others and are ferried about in private jets paid for by others.

They accept “campaign contributions” from Wall Street, then, with a wink and nod, demonize Wall Street. Then, they print billions of dollars to prop up Wall Street; rewarding it for bringing down the economy. This keeps the contributions flowing and themselves in power.

They demonize Big Oil, Big Medicine, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco. Then, they enrich those industries with special subsidies and tax breaks and laws passed to their benefit. They are rewarded with more campaign cash and, when their time on Capitol Hill is done, cushy jobs lobbying their replacements.

Their policies destroy the middle class. They preach fairness and set themselves up as the arbiters of fairness. They create a parasite class with an entitlement mentality. Then they work to grow the parasite class to keep themselves in power by taking more and more from the wages of the middle class.

Tax freedom day this year fell on Aug. 12. That’s how long it now takes for the middle class worker to fulfill his “obligation” to the leviathan. The Ponzi scheme that is our fiat money system is insatiable. It inflates away the savings and investments of Main Street America.

While the middle class struggles, the entitlement class grows. High unemployment (almost 14 million are unemployed), directly caused by government policies, pushes more people out of the middle class and into the parasite class. One in five American children now lives in poverty, according to a report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

But the parasites live well off the producers. They get “free” housing, “free” food, “free” cable television, “free” cell phones. Their kids eat “free” at school. These “entitlements,” along with ever-extended long-term unemployment benefits, become so attractive that the incentive to work is suppressed.

The workers look with disdain on the parasites. The parasites look with envy on the workers, wanting not their jobs but what they have. Recent riots in Great Britain demonstrate what happens when the parasites decide they want more.

Meanwhile, even the working class is at war with one another. This is encouraged by the elites, but the current Administration has doubled down. Just one example is the case of Boeing’s decision to build an airplane in right-to-work South Carolina. Obama’s National Labor Relations Board sued.

The thugocracy of the Labor Unions terrorize non-union workers and companies large and small. In Michigan last week, a man investigating after he noticed his security light had come on was greeted by a gunshot to the arm. On the side of his truck the word “scab” was scrawled. The man owns the largest non-union electrical company in his area.

Also last week, Verizon, which is in contract negotiations with the Communication Workers of America, reported that cable lines had been destroyed and equipment stolen in a number of States. Striking workers are the chief suspects.

According to news reports, union members in New York were encouraged to deal harshly with “managers and scabs.”

A phone hotline set up for union members said it was open season and told them to torture management and scabs with noise and chants.

In New Jersey, a judge had to issue an injunction against the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which is also on strike against Verizon. The injunction prohibited, “Dropping, spreading, throwing, placing or otherwise causing nails, glass, cinder block, spikes, feces clubs, rocks, screws, or puncture devices of any kind, or other object or debris to be thrown or strewn in, on, or about Verizon’s driveways, parking lots, entrances, exits, vehicles and adjoining roads to any of Verizon’s property or any work site.”

Internal emails promote violence against management and workers crossing picket lines, suggesting first the use of tire irons and then a reminder that a strike is underway.

Isolated incidents? Hardly, but the mainstream media ignore them, preferring instead to parrot the elite’s lies and distortions of Tea Party members as terrorists, implying guilt by association even though there is no association. The MSM shrugs its collective shoulders as Vice President Joe Biden calls members of Congress terrorists for trying to hold fast to Tea Party ideals.

The MSM tries to link every act of violence to the Tea Party. Jared Loughner and Anders Breivik right wing? Those were lies. Doublespeak.

Tea Party members, at least those who gathered in 2009 and much of 2010 before the Republican Party began to co-opt the movement, are blue collar and white collar, owners of small businesses, retirees, former military, salt-of-the-earth people from all political spectrums. And while they indicated they are fed up with the status quo, Tea Party rallies were peaceful and orderly gatherings: Americans engaging in their right to petition government.

Right wing, left wing? Republican, Democrat? Engage in your Two Minutes Hate. O’Brien is proud.

The elites love war abroad and at home. It distracts the masses from government’s ongoing theft and manipulation. Anger with one another allows them to continue their looting. It promotes threats and violence, which allows them to further clamp down on freedom.

Endless wars, abroad and at home, equal totalitarianism. It’s totalitarianism under the sweet-sounding name of democracy.

Ron Paul CAN Win!

Despite the best efforts of the mainstream media and the Republican apparatchik to ignore him or paint him as a kook, Representative Ron Paul can win the Republican nomination.

The MSM is finally recognizing that Paul’s message of liberty, sound money and ending foreign intervention is resonating with a growing segment of the American electorate. How can we tell? Candidates — particularly Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich — are trying to steal his message, indicating it’s not so kooky after all. And no longer do all articles and discussions about Paul’s candidacy include the footnote “but he can’t win” after a mention of his name — although most still do.

Paul’s success in the polls has the neocons, warmongers and RINOs in the Republican hierarchy all atwitter. They can’t stand the thought of starving the military-industrial complex, which would cut off their gravy trains. They can’t stand the thought of cutting off the Federal Reserve, which supplies their largess while stealing the wealth of all Americans. They can’t stand the thought of a challenge to their corporatocracy.

Americans now realize — even if the elected elites can’t — that the status quo can’t be continued. Printing more and more money to support unsustainable spending has finally caught up with us. And the people are tired of it. They recognize that Paul is the only politician — in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere — who is saying the same thing he’s been saying for more than 30 years: that an increasingly fascist government and the Federal Reserve are enemies of liberty and financial freedom.

Republican insiders and the media conspired to choose the Republican candidate in every election since 1988: George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush and John McCain. They are trying to do it again with Mitt Romney and Rick Perry — neither of whom is conservative.

Elect Mitt Romney and you’ll have Barack Obama light. Elect Rick Perry and you’ll have George Bush on steroids.

If you want to continue to see your money squandered on military missions that would have our treasure fighting and dying on foreign soil, installing friendly dictators, nation building and imposing systems of government that the people don’t want, then don’t say you cherish liberty. And if you want to continue to sit back and do nothing while your savings are inflated away by the Federal Reserve, then don’t say you love freedom. If you want a government that blatantly violates your 4th Amendment rights in the name of “safety” and dictates what you eat, where you go, what type of light bulb or toilet you can have your home, whether you can protect yourself, how you can invest, whether you have to put harmful drugs in your body and what type of car you can drive, then vote for the establishment candidate. Because all of the candidates in the GOP field, save Ron Paul, will continue the status quo and you will continue to get what you’ve always gotten.

Americans, if you long for freedom, you need Ron Paul. If you seek a real change in the way Washington works, you need Ron Paul. If you quit saying that Ron Paul can’t win, he will. If you will support Ron Paul, he’ll win, despite the MSM and the Republican Party. If you cherish liberty and value freedom, Ron Paul is the only choice.

If he’s not your choice, then stop pretending you want a free America. It’s that simple.

Make Your Metabolism More Efficient With Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral responsible for healthy metabolism — or the chemical processes happening within your body that are necessary for you to remain alive. For example, research has shown that magnesium plays an important role in managing prescription drug-induced high blood pressure and improving mental function. According to research from the University of Maryland, if you are deficient in magnesium, it could lead to other serious conditions such as asthma, osteoporosis and attention deficit disorders.

How much magnesium is enough? Adults need 400 mg of magnesium daily. It’s best as a gluconate, picolinate, lactate, sulfate or aspartate. But most government dietary surveys indicate that people obtain less than that amount from their diets — sometimes as little as 50 percent of the magnesium they need for good health!

To boost your intake of this beneficial mineral and manage your metabolism, include more magnesium-rich foods in your daily diet, such as roasted pumpkin and squash seeds, bran cereal, brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, pine nuts, oil-roasted peanuts, halibut and spinach.

The USDA Food Safety Joke On Us

The United States Department of Agriculture knew a dangerous form of salmonella was present at a Cargill, Inc. turkey plant but did not inform the company until after one person died and 77 others were sickened by the bacteria.

Cargill and the USDA announced the recall of ground turkey from the Cargill plant in Springdale, Ark., on Aug. 3. It was the third-largest meat recall in history and involved 36 million pounds of ground turkey.

The Wall Street Journal reported that USDA officials found three samples of the dangerous antibiotic-resistant salmonella Heidelberg during inspections last year and told the company about it. But when traces of the bacteria began turning up in turkey products in retail stores in March and a Federal agency traced it back to the Cargill plant in April, the company was not informed.

The government’s National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System found the strain during its inspections of the plant in May, June and July, but Cargill was not informed until July 29. Cargill continued to sell its contaminated products until Aug. 3, and the USDA finally suspended all operations at the plant on Aug. 5.

The USDA doesn’t have the authority the Food and Drug Administration has to order recalls, but can only request them, much to the chagrin of Federal authorities. In 1999, the USDA tried to shut down a Texas ground beef plant, but a Federal appeals court stopped it.

“We didn’t have the authority we needed,” said Dan Glickman, the USDA secretary at the time.

It appears this time the USDA, rather than working to prevent illness from spreading, decided to wait until someone died and dozens were sickened in an effort to gain that authority. Not that having more authority would help when its own standards allow for 49.9 percent of tests to come back positive for salmonella.

Federal and local authorities allow large farms and food processors to ship tainted meats and produce all the time, yet crack down on small farmers and food producers  and natural whole foods and supplements, as we have shown here, here, here, here, here and here.

And farmer Joel Salatin has outlined how difficult it is for small farmers in America in his book, Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal.

The idea of food safety in America is sick joke. It’s simply a corporate protection racket and a quest by a bloated bureaucracy for more power.

Hat Tip:

How Far Will The Fires Spread?

Last week, the U.K. burned. Several nights of rioting, looting and general mayhem began in a London neighborhood following the police shooting of a black man (who was armed with a blank pistol) and spread across the country.

Simultaneously, a quarter of a million people took to the streets of Tel Aviv, Israel, to protest the rising cost of living. CNBC reported the protests actually began a month previous when some people set up tents in an expensive part of town to protest rising property prices.

In Spain, Greece and Portugal, strikes, protests and rioting have occurred off and on for much of the spring and summer over government austerity measures and corruption.

Rising prices of consumer goods fueled demands for better pay and job protection by workers in the Philippines in May. Workers left their jobs and marched in the streets.

In China, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Iran, Lebanon and Kuwait, people have risen up in protests of varying degrees. Some of these led to a change in government, some fizzled out, some have been bought off and some have been quashed by violent repression.

While none of these protests are exactly alike and the spark that ignited them often came from different sources, they do have some common traits. Among them are the roiling economy, inflation, loss of liberties, class warfare and seemingly hopeless job prospects.

In Great Britain, Spain, Greece and Portugal, the protests demonstrate the failure of socialism.

Governments have run out of money, so they are cutting back on programs supporting the parasite class that developed off government largess. The crash of the economy has left many without jobs, and cutbacks in unemployment, food subsidies, housing subsidies, education subsidies, healthcare subsidies and the like are either being implemented or discussed.

That’s not sitting well with the parasites who grew dependent on the nanny state and have seethed and simmered over the injustices — whether real or perceived — they have endured. They’ve heard the elected elites blame the rich for their troubles, so they’re lashing out at those they consider “rich.” It doesn’t matter to them that these “rich” people are their neighbors and they’re burning down their own neighborhoods. All that matters is the rich have “stuff” and the parasites want “stuff,” so smashing windows, looting, robbing and setting fires have become legitimate things for them to do.

Kids as young as 7 or 8 were photographed looting stores of everything from liquor to clothing to expensive electronics. Drunken teenage girls were questioned by journalists about why they were burning and looting their own neighborhoods, and they responded with the incomprehensible, “Because they are rich.”

May this be a foreshadowing of what’s coming to America? We certainly have some of the same conditions here: long-term high unemployment, politicians playing the class-warfare game, government corruption, rising prices, austerity measures, a culture of dependency and elected elites ignoring the will of the governed. All that’s lacking is the right spark.

The potential for that spark is certainly there. Already in cities across the country there are almost daily reports of flash mobs looting stores and robbing and beating innocent bystanders. At the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee there was a violent incident on Aug. 5 of blacks attacking whites.

Wisconsin, of course, was the scene of protests over austerity measures that curtailed some of the bargaining rights of public sector unions. Again, the parasite class living off the sweat of the producers enjoyed benefits far exceeding those available in the private sector, and they didn’t like losing even a small percentage of their perquisites.

Meanwhile, the elites in Washington, D.C., continue to fiddle while the American economy burns. They failed to make any significant cuts in government spending and Standard & Poor’s downgraded America’s sovereign credit rating from AAA to AA+. The result: The stock market reacted by dropping more than 634 points in three days. And that’s on top of a 1,341 point drop while Congress and President Barack Obama dithered.

People are growing increasingly desperate. There are a growing number of reports of people stealing metal items of all sorts — from doors at construction sites to manhole covers to copper wire — as items for recycling in an effort to find the money to stay alive. States and municipalities are considering setting up tent cities to accommodate the growing number of homeless people… many of them driven out of their homes because they have lost their jobs and have found no prospects for meaningful employment.

The Obama Administration is considering using government-owned foreclosure properties as rental housing, but how will people pay the rent if there are no jobs? And how will companies — particularly small businesses, which are the backbone of the economy — add jobs if there is no one who can afford to buy their products and the government continues to stifle business expansion because of increasingly stringent regulations and uncertainty about what it might try to implement next?

I hope you have stored food and water, gold and silver, weapons and ammunition and non-hybrid seeds, as I have long advised. It’s looking more and more like you will need them sooner rather than later.

Swindling Futurity

With the signing of the debt-ceiling deal reached by a Congress that sold out its Tea Party supporters, President Barack Obama has accelerated the United States along its path to economic ruin.

Neither in this universe nor in any alternate universe is it logical to choose to increase spending to solve a problem caused by already profligate spending. Tea Party members and Austrian economists understand this. The political elites either do not understand or, more likely, do not care.

They choose to continue kicking the can down the road while inflation robs the savings of average Americans.

The Founders understood this, though. Thomas Jefferson wrote: “The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”

Our future is being swindled; it has been for a very long time. 2012 can’t get here fast enough. The elites will be shocked by the results of that election.
