MOSCOW, Aug. 4 (UPI) — Police in a small city south of Moscow say they’ve arrested a suspect in the killing of a family of five, including three children.

Authorities in Tula, 135 miles from Moscow, said the suspect was a 26-year-old man who met the family in 2008 when he fixed their computer and the motive for the killings was robbery, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

The victims — a 35-year-old woman, her three sons ages 4, 5 and 9 and their grandmother — were found in the bathroom of their home by police after neighbors had alerted authorities to an unpleasant odor.

Police said they believe the victims were beaten to death on the night of July 25.

A police spokesman said the suspect was the mother’s “common-law husband.”
