Arizona Governor Signs Immigration Bill To Democrats’ Outrage

April 28, 2010 by

Arizona governor signs immigration bill to Democrats' outrageArizona Governor Jan Brewer made state history on April 23 by signing one of the toughest immigration bills in the country into law. The legislation, while praised by many conservatives and libertarians, has met with Democratic criticism both at the local level and in Washington.

The Libertarian candidate for governor, Bruce Olson, wrote in a blog for The Arizona Sentinel that he was "proud" of Brewer for the step that is "making it tough to run against ya."

He added that other states must follow suit with similar laws, but warned that the Federal government may try to overturn the bill.

However, the new law, which will make it a misdemeanor for foreign nationals to fail to register and carry their documents with them, was heavily criticized by ethnic groups and Democratic lawmakers.

Among the critics were Hispanic state legislators in Arizona as well as members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in Washington, D.C.

In the nation’s capital, President Obama called the bill "misguided" but said the Federal government must act on the immigration issue.

"Our failure to act responsibly will only open the door to irresponsibility by others," he said.

"That includes the recent efforts in Arizona, which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe," Obama added.

The president was referring to the part of the bill that requires police officers, if they have a "reasonable suspicion" that someone is an illegal immigrant during a lawful stop, to determine that person’s immigration status and, if necessary, transfer them into Federal custody.ADNFCR-1961-ID-19742471-ADNFCR

Chaos factor, if “Osama” is president till 2016 we’ll have no America left to call “The Land of the Free”. This bill covers anyone coming there illegally, not just those from south of the border.

Hate to say it, but I am a Black woman, and I approve of this law! The boat people from Haiti were turned back 15 years ago, My brother-in-law was given 24 hours to leave the country, because he came on a student VISA from Africa, and was not allowed to work. He had a part time job, and flew out of the country for Christmas. On his return, he was stopped at Customs and had a pay stub in his wallet. He was made to leave America. Asian, Africans, Germans, and everybody else comes here legally. They broke in our country, they have no rights, they are taking American jobs. Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and all of those Liberal nurds want to keep O’Bama in office by legalizing citizenship for these illegal. Do you really think they care about Black people. Why aren’t they waving the race card now? They are corrupt too. To Govenor Brewer,”You go girl”. Show them how to do it!!!!!! Their nuts!

Just to clarify, Mr. Olson has announced his intention to seek the Libertarian nomination to run for Governor of Arizona.

To my knowledge, there are at least 4 other candidates, several of whom I believe would state a significantly different position on this issue from Mr. Olson.

Moreover, Mr. Olson’s position is significantly at variance with the platform and principles of the Arizona Libertarian Party.

Members of the Arizona Libertarian Party will decide on August 24, 2010 who will be our nominee.

I am not stating an official position on the candidates, merely making some points to supplement understanding of the reader.

Way to go Arizona! Only those who are here illegally need to be concerned. I certainly hope all the boarder states follow suit. It had to come to this. The Federal Government won’t try to stop the illegals. Arizona’s crime rate is off the charts. Imagine that. Go for it Arizona…

    • Shirley Ferguson

The word “Illegial” should be enough. If someone is here illegially, that in its self is against the law. The American people are cutting their own throats by hiring or rentint to illegians. Thanks Arizona.

    • http://personalliberty PFFFF

And how do you propose to tell/see if someone is illegal?…maybe a magic eight ball?

      • s c

PFFFooey, first, can you speak English? It would be nice if people who ‘live’ here spoke the English language. Second (if you’re trying to do things the right way), do you have a green card? Third, are you a law-abiding, wannabe citizen who cares more about the law than a pimped-out government that lusts after your easy vote?
It shouldn’t be that ‘hard’ to tell if someone is legal or otherwise. What counts most is in not associating with an incompetent, corrupt government that selectively uses statutes to its
advantage, and thumbs its huge nose at America at the same time.
Thin-skinned progressives don’t get it. For the rest of us, it’s not that difficult.

        • JeffH

…the law is very specific, police can only initiate contact when a crime or violation has taken place, ie, bad auto registration, broken tail lamps, auto accident, rob a mini mart, shoplift, jaywalk. Police are not allowed, by law, to randomly stop anyone just to check their immigrant status. The leftist liberals and the POTUS are using their “fearmongering” tactics.

Take a trip to Mexico if you want to see how they deal with illegals.
As for abuse, the Mexican government is notorious for its abuse of Central American illegal aliens who attempt to violate Mexico’s southern border. The Red Cross has protested rampant Mexican police corruption, intimidation and bribery schemes targeting illegal aliens there for years. Mexico didn’t respond by granting mass amnesty to illegal aliens, as it is demanding that we do. It clamped down on its borders even further. In late 2008, the Mexican government launched an aggressive deportation plan to curtain illegal Cuban immigration and human trafficking through Cancun.

Meanwhile, Mexican consular offices in the United States have coordinated with left-wing social justice groups and the Catholic Church leadership to demand a moratorium on all deportations and a freeze on all employment raids across America.

Mexico is doing the job Arizona is now doing — a job the U.S. government has failed miserably to do: putting its people first. Here’s the proper rejoinder to all the hysterical demagogues in Mexico (and their sympathizers here on American soil) now calling for boycotts and invoking Jim Crow laws, apartheid and the Holocaust because Arizona has taken its sovereignty into its own hands:

This is off topic, but have you seen this?

This was the only place I could find anything about the HR-2499 bill since Glenn mentioned it on his show 3 days ago when one of the
Re-founders” informed him. It’s supposed to happen today. You know that if it happens, or if they use the Tennessee Plan, if O-dumbo grants amnesty to at least 13 million illegals & gives the 4 million convicted felons the right to vote, we conservatives are totally screwed – permanently! Everybody looks forward to November to clean house, but there might not be anything to look forward to! It just keeps getting worse every day!

      • http://naver samurai

If you don’t have an official passport, visa, or are not on record for applying to enter into this great country. Why do you care? Are you illegal from south of the border?

  • omark kiam

    I’m moving to AZ.

  • Cecil Jeffries

If our federal goverment would have done as the law required and closed our borders A long time ago instead of making excuses all this would not be happning special intrest has to much control or infulance where they should not more power to Arizonia and any other state that has the guts to go aginst the gov on this

  • Jo

Law’s have been in place all along and if the Fed’s had done their job this would not have been necessary. All states, not just Arizona, wouldn’t be in such a dire circumstances. So Thank You Arizona for stepping up for the American people. Finally someone with some common sense! Hope other states follow suit and soon. If you are here legally- WELCOME! IF YOU ARE HERE ILLEGALLY – GET OUT! Go after the employers that hire them. Drug dealers have their property confiscated – maybe that should happen to those that hire illegals. And let’s hope they don’t go to neighboring states. Is Mr. Pre. out of touch? Considering O’s tract record, you have to think that if he is against it, it must be the right direction for the country to go in.

    Governor Jan Brewer needs our support. You can find contact information here;

    The phone number is;800-253-0883

Arizona is in for the fight of their life. There are throngs of belligerent invaders spurred on by their handlers and hate mongers creating havoc down there. If AZ can survive the initial outrage the illegal aliens will invade neighboring states and hopeflully force their hand to pass similar laws.

This could finally be the start of a trend.

    • Time

I agree with all you have posted.

Now here is how I see it and perhaps many of you also see this issue.
I feel that both political partys are looking to “USE” these Folks from MEXICO to gain higher Vote counts.

By doing so they have been very quite as they go about working their plan, not unlike any business venture you have to have a plan of 5 years 10 years etc. down the road as to what your looking to do to grow your business.

As the Dems are always working the “con job” of the party of the working man,(yet they are as far from that platform as night is from day.)
I say that due to the fact that that top 2% of wealth we keep hearing about from our {UN Educated buffoons} here, as well within the main stream media – they are in fact Democrats.
Just look at all the Privet islands all owned by Democrats, let alone the massive compounds around the US such as the Kennedy Compounds like the Palm Beach or Vinyard, just try getting on one of these with out being taken away in chains and tossed in Jail.

Anyway I see the Mexican illegals as a massive voting block and the real number of illegals is not the 13 million as quoted by the media monkeys.
I figure from what I have seen its more in the 35 – 40 million range, thus so do the Political partys. And they don’t want you to figure that out.

The Republicans figure they to can use this massive block of votes too, but as per the norm the conflict within the party has held back their abilitys to make a solid platform to do such.

Keep in mind that both partys have “Progressives” within their ranks, thus the main problem for all Americans is none other than progressives of what = socialist = marxist = nazi they are all one in the same so when folks get that picture tuned in then we can fight this fight.

Until folks grasp this we are going to spin round and round.

What I do find very strange, I don’t know who else picks up on this but; how is it that the main stream media fails to connect the dots?

They are tools as far as I see them and have been getting bolder and more agressive at spinning pretzel logic and not doing the work of showing the truth.

      Just a few thoughts.

      • angel-wanna-be

Time_ I agree, the Liberals hide behind the guise of “they are for the working man and the down trodden”. At one time, that may have been true, but not since the Progressives infiltrated the democratic party. They’ve turned greedy and power hungry. With some of the rhetoric, it Sometimes appears, that these Liberals actually believe, this kind power they are exuding, are somehow a divine intervention for the lost sheep. I truley can’t wait for November, for this reason.

      • usmadgirl

I think the “MessiahStreamMedia” DOES connect the dots. They’re just working their butts off trying to keep the connections away from the viewers or readers! THEY are a big part of the Progressive Plan too! Why? I have too much common sense to understand!

I agree with you about the illegal “numbers” being much more than they’d like us to think. Like I told JeffH “somewhere up above”, now they’re trying to get an “ace in the hole” to be certain of their victory in November & in 2012, by making Puerto Rico the 51st state (HR-2499). I know they’ve asked them before, but this might be the only chance the Progressives have the opportunity for it to become a reality!

If all this (amnesty for at least 13 million illegal Dumb-o-craps, voting rights for convicted felons & now 4 million more Puerto Rican Dumb-o-craps) is implemented, we’ll be living in Cuba before we know it! Have you heard about the HR-2499? Except for Glenn, there’s been NOTHING mentioned! I wake up in a brand new country every day!

Hey they’re showing the surprise on Fox now. I don’t know if the MSM is showing it or not. Why didn’t we know anything about this until Glenn brought it up 3 days ago?

    • Jana

This particular phone number could not be reached from my area- Texas. I tried to call to give my support but will email instead. Thanks for the info.

  • angel-wanna-be

It’s pretty bad when, the Governor of Arizona has to pass a law, that is ALREADY in place, just to protect the citizens of Arizona. And then to have the President criticize her for it to boot. I’ve nver seen a more agenda driven administration than this one. Money and power, seems to be more important than the safety of America and her people. Hopefully other states will follow. We have family in California and New Mexico. Kudos to Jan Brewer!

    • George E

Agreed. Obama is looking for issues they can frame in a way that wins support from a majority of Americans before the upcoming elections this Fall. This is one, and financial reform is another. Interestingly, both can be framed in a way that helps or hurts the Democrats, so this is not a slam-dunk for Obama. Understanding this, we need to be smart how we address and manage the discussions of topics like this, so that we don’t give the Democrats the advantage they are looking for. If they can sway the American people that enforcement of immigration laws is a discrimination and/or human rights issue, they’ll win this debate. However, if we can focus people on the issue of crime, jobs, cost, security, rule of law, etc., they lose the debate. The same goes for financial reform. If they can focus the debate on the big bad banks deceiving the American people, they’ll win. If Republicans can focus the debate on out-of-control government regulations and spending, jobs, and the economy, they’ll win.

      • angel-wanna-be

George E, your absolutely right!, the paid Liberals that go on Conservative sights like Bobs here, are looking for info anyway they can get it. It’s all about the language. I don’t have issues with people on here, a debate is a debate. Although given my skeptic nature, it’s sometimes hard to tell, who’s a poser and who isn’t. For all we know, a Liberal could pose as Conservative, just for ammunition, to use against those of us who truley believe in America and what she stands for. It’s just a sad sad state of affairs that we can’t trust anyone. It truley is a whole different world.

        • George E

You’re right. I often wonder why so many liberals visit this site so often. I might drop in to a liberal site once in a while to see what they’re saying, but I can’t see myself going back too often because I don’t have the time and I don’t want the verbal abuse liberals feel so free to throw at conservatives, or anyone for that matter who disagrees with them. Given the degree of organization the left has developed over the last few years, with the internet at the center of it, I can’t help but wonder if they are paid to disrupt conservative sites and events to try to cast doubt on the arguments conservatives make against liberal and progressive policies. The real battle is not between the committed liberals and conservatives, but those who are willing to read through these posts and develop an independent opinion. That’s one of the reasons I think we need to conduct ourselves as professionally as we can and let the liberals do most of the ranting and raving. To the unbiased observer, they’ll get a sense that those acting most irrationally are the least to be trusted……I think.

          • angel-wanna-be

George E, Quite frankly, I used get pretty fired up when I first came on here a month or so ago. I took their attacks personally. JeffH, kinda directed me on that. So For the most part I ignore the Liberals, unless I feel like engaging in verbal cat fight__lol

          • George E

I like to challenge them to explain why they think the way they do. More often than not, they’ll refuse to respond, but when they do, I like to put my logic out there as a counter to theirs. I just think it’s a good way to air out a topic, and draw the contrasts between the two sides. Most people in this country are center-right, so if we articulate our position well enough, most independent observers will side with the conservative position. The main thing we have to do in this political environment is not succumb to their charges of racism, radical religious intolerance, uncaring about the poor, environmental indifference, wasteful spending for our pet projects, war mongering, and any form of hypocrisy when we can. It’s a tough row to hold, but we need to try because the libs and progressives are very smart and crafty and will draw us into their trap whenever they can.

        • angel-wanna-be

George E, I’d wager a bet, that a lot of pollsters and TV personalities, both Liberal and Conservatives alike, use these sights for valuable info and talking points, to get a feel for what America’s talking about. I’m a watch dog and some of which is discussed here, I’ve heard discussed on news and radio fairly soon after the discussion.__ Coincidence?__I don’t think so.

          • George E

Actually, that’s pretty smart of them. They can get a feel for what Americans are saying and thinking. That’s another reason why it’s a good idea for us to make our arguments in a logical manner rather than getting into name-calling cat fights, I think.

  • Barbara

You go girl! You’re a true American. The rest of the states need to wake up and take over their own state like she has!

  • JPW-

Omark Kiam; That’s a very foreign sounding name if I were an officer of the law in Arizona I would have you deported.Bye Bye

    • Michelle

That is exactly the type of comments we do not need. Profiling of any type is not permitted. If you are legal you don’t have an issue. It is only the 460,000 illegals in Arizona that have a problem. The law is already working and it isn’t even in place yet! Many illegals are moving to others states – yes, they will be coming to a state near you – unless states take action. The federal government totally disregarded their responsibility in protecting the borders and we now have an estimated 20 million illegals in the country. Three presidents initiated action in the past and DEPORTED illegals, so it can be done again. What is even more sinful is Janet Napolitano, the former governor of Arizona and now head of Homeland Security, is claiming that the borders are secure. She didn’t keep them secure as governor and she sure isn’t keeping them secure as head of Homeland Security. So watch out – we are ALL in trouble!

    • http://personalliberty PFFFF

Your reply to omark kiam (which could be an accronym like your JPW or is that your name and you should be profiled) is exactly why this bill becomes dangerous.

      • George E

Profiling people strictly on the basis of race is very tricky for law enforcement officials. It is my understanding that most try to avoid such situations because it can create a lot of problems for them. If any officers of the law do engage in such practices, it is likely they won’t hold their job very long.

      • http://naver samurai

That’s why they train their personnel and give them the publications they need so they know what they are doing. The military is the same way. You don’t give someone a uniform, weapon, and say go out and kill someone. We always make sure our soldiers are well trained and know what they are doing before sending them out to the field. Have you ever served, boy? Please make a comment that makes sense next time.

    • Jim H.

JWP, If Omark is here legally it won’t be by by.

    • JeffH

JPW-If you were an officer of the law, you would lose your job because you commited “racial profiling”. I doubt you could or would be able to pass muster to even become cop.

    • JC

Really? You would have him deported because of his name?
We Americans generally don’t behave that way…not the conservatives and not the liberals either. Don’t let years of government brainwashing dictate what kind of person you are.
The values we want to reinstill are generous and kind…until you actually cross us that is. And then God help you.

  • jomama

Jan Brewer for President!! Arizona here I come!!

    Obama is a TRAITOR!!

There are laws already in place – there is NO NEED for reform. Even if we do reform – there is still going to be people (most likely illegal) who won’t like the way it will be & will fight for more than their fair share. This could go on forever trying to make these lawless, criminal, demanding, dirty with bugs & disease,murderous,non-English speaking, corrupt, child molesting, gun toting, drunk driving, sex crazed thugs happy!!

    Bottom line:
YOU CAN’T PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME!! There will always be at least ONE in the crowd. And then there will be the stupid,Democratic, bleeding heart & sorry senator to help them through it. To achieve “their American dream”. They HATE us Americans!!
    Such CRAP!!
What are our leaders thinking?? They MUST be retarded or something.
Yeah, I said it. The “R” word – so what??

  • George E

I’ve been trying to sort through this issue to get past the sound bites being pushed by both sides of this argument. Clearly, illegal (undocumented) immigrants are in this country illegally, have broken US federal immigration laws, and should be dealt with accordingly.

US immigration laws are apparently complex, and fraught with enforcement (legal) problems. Local law enforcement personnel are generally not trained to enforce immigration laws. Doing so requires more resources than local agencies have available without additional federal funding, so most local law enforcement agencies choose to avoid enforcement of these laws. Finally, local law enforcement agencies rely on recent immigrants (some may be illegal) to provide information in solving and preventing local crime, so they rely on building good relationships with these communities. If immigrants were concerned about being turned over to federal immigration officials for deportation, they might not cooperate with local law enforcement.

Like most states, Arizona has allowed local law enforcement agencies to decide whether, and to what extent, to enforce US immigration laws. Many have simply chosen to avoid enforcement. The Arizona law simply establishes a standard for Arizona law enforcement agencies to follow, taking the decision away from local agencies. It apparently requires local agencies to ask detainees whether they are US citizens, and when they suspect them to be here illegally, turn them over to the appropriate federal agency for disposition.

It should be the decision of the individual states whether to establish state-wide standards for their law enforcement agencies relative to laws like federal immigration laws. My guess is that most local officials will follow the requirements of the Arizona law, but to the minimum extent due to the many problems associated with immigration laws and enforcement thereof. The Arizona law is an acknowledgement by the citizens of that state of their concern for illegal immigration, especially related to recent serious crime in that state. Hopefully, this law will help bring the subject of illegal immigration and problems associated therewith to the public forum for debate as we find manageable solutions to this issue.

  • JeffH

The Arizona Immigration is not illegal. This legislation supports the Federal immigration laws, nothing more.

  • Dbluei51

Illegal means just what it says Illegal! Maybe Obama is against it because he is illegal? Maybe he thinks it will help his cause, and what kind of example is he making to the American people and the illegals by not having to disclose his citizenship papers? But we must focus on more important matters to win this next fall election we need to focus on jobs, fat cat government, and this health care issue that is going to cost us dearly! We need to keep America out of the Socialism that is starting to happen!Lets fight to keep America free and get all those people out of office fast!

  • JPW-

No amnesty as Reagan did deport all illegals and they can get in line with others applying for citizenship. To me it is self explanatory.Illegal means it is wrong so fix it.Some feel that their being here illegally a long time gives them a right to be here’I don’t think so

    • George E

Agreed. However, I think we need to make it easier for immigrants to come work in this country legally, and easier to go home when they’re done. We also need to stop giving automatic US citizenship to babies born to non-US citizens while on US soil. We need to punish crimes committed by non-US citizens on US soil just like we would if they were US citizens, after which we should deport them. Employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants should be punished severely, and anyone caught in this country who is here illegally, should NOT be considered for US citizenship, in most cases, even if they return to their native country first. I’m pretty sure this would encourage immigrants to go through the legal process of coming to this country, and going home when their visas expire.

I believe you could get Republicans to go along with a plan like this, but Democrats wouldn’t because they want those immigrant votes. That’s one of the reasons why they say it’s impractical to deport 12 million illegal immigrants. It’s just easier and more practical, they say, to give them US citizenship. Boloney…….. People need to put on their US citizen hat for a change, and take off the political hat……… to speak, and do what’s best for the USA for a change, not the political parties.

      • angel-wanna-be

George E, The Government could make it easier to become a legal citizen, by re-enacting Ellis Island. It worked then, why not now? and each one of us can say that somewhere in our past, our ancestors came from another part of the world, to live freely in America. The’ve got Laws for illegal immigration, it’s a matter of enforcing them. I belive, Obama’s deal is, he wants it to appear, he’s somehow created a New Immigration law, and as you said, in turn the new legal immigrants, will more than happy to vote for him and his co-horts. I’m tired of the Liberals sneaky under handed BS.

        • George E

I think the Ellis Island model is sort of what I have in mind, but for it to work we need a bunch of these kinds of entry points. I’m afraid if we make it too difficult to go through legal channels, immigrants will simply ignore them and come in the least difficult way they can… many do now.

      • Tammy

George, You hit the nail on the head!! I totally agree! The fact that illegals can come here and have their illegal child on US soil and it magically becomes a citizen, is sooooo wrong. Is there any other country that allowes this!!! I think not!!! IT IS TIME TO CHANGE THINGS!!! I am sick sick sick of what the illegals do to our people, country, land and home owners and the welfare system. THEY ARE OF NO HELP TO OUR ECONOMY AT ALL. THEY ARE A BIG PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!

        • Beverly

I agree Tammy. I had a grand child born in Germany, but that didn’t make my grandchild a German. My grandchild is still American by Germany’s rules and the birth certificate reflects that.

        • George E

Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be in this country. However, I think if our politicians fixed this problem using some of the measures I outlined above, there wouldn’t be so many illegal immigrants in this country. So, I hold our politicians responsible for fixing this problem, not the illegal immigrants.

          • Jessica

The Birthright Citizen Act is an obsolete law that dates back to the post-Civil War era. It was inacted to prevent vindictive former slave owners and their henchmen from rounding up black American citizens and shipping them off to Africa, a place where they had never been, had no knowlege of, and no ties to. This antiquated law has been abused and exploited by illegal immigrants from all over the world for generations, and should be stricken from the books.

henry he has on the news he said boycot arizona now that realy sound good from a stuped bank rup state governor that,s state is billions in the hole and most is because of the illegals and none enforcement of immigration laws so just because he is a republican more like a rino i say read and see who you are voting for their are a lot of l graham,s that think that citizen ship is the way to go i say you do the crime [being here illegally] you do the time [deportation ]and don,t come back amnesty has not worked and will not work case in point reagan and congress gave 3 to 4 million amnesty in the 80 now here 30 years later we have 20 million more illegals demanding amnesty

    • JeffH

San Francisco supervisors have already stated they will cease all business with any Arizona intersts in the city.

  • Mark

Way to go Arizona. Lead by example and let the rest of the states follow and get all these illegals out of here. Some idiot demo strategist said “we can’t just put 12M people on buses and ship them home”, the hell we can’t. It is just that easy. She happened to be a blonde cause she said 12M, it is more like way over 20M. Think of the money that could be going to vets, elderly, and our own children. NOT illegals squirting anchor babies out like rabbits. The 14th amendment needs changed now. A childs nationality should be the legal nationality of the mother. That stupid demo also said it is OK for illegals to be here as long as they are not breaking the law. What a two faced talkin bunch of crap. She ain’t got a clue what illegal is because she is so stupid she cannot comprehend that they are illegal just by being in this country. I am happy for Arizona but I fear unless more states take a stand that the kenyan nigger will do all he can to turn it over. He is in missouri today talking about a worthless robin carnahan, good thing I didn’t know in advance.

The Arizona law should be nation wide…

    • George E

In a sense, it is. Federal immigration laws already exist, but the federal government hasn’t seen fit to fund its agencies sufficiently to enforce these laws. Arizona is simply taking a state-wide stand on how their local law enforcement agencies should deal with enforcement of these federal laws.

  • Pat

Amnesty to come from the Obama administration will ensure all the illegals will become Democrate voters helping to push through all of Obama’s ultimate complete control of all areas of our country. Amnesty must not happen. Send them all back where they came from and let them apply legally to become citizens and then assimilate into our country with alligence thereto as Americans. No other country handles desirous immigrants the lax way we do. Also, fine the employers who provide work for illegals.

Look at the statistics related to those arrested for crimes across this nation and one will understand why profiling is a natural outcome based upon cause and effect.

There are millions of fine immigrants who have become legal citizens and contribute significantly to this great country. Let these millions be the examples instead of those who come illegally, work here, take advantage of all we provide, then send their money home with the full intent and desire to eventually return to their home country.

  • Robert Wayne

Good for Governor Brewer and for the state of Arizona. It’s way past time to put a stop to these mexican invaders. If the federal govt. had not been dragging its feet and doing their job concerning these illegal invaders we wouldn’t be in this predicament. And now Obama has the nerve to side with the enemy mexicans and their lowlife allies. I say ship all of them who are here illegally back south of the border and put U.S. troops at the border with orders to shoot to kill these invaders when they try to come back. And if Obama and his communist goons love them so much they’re more than welcome to get the hell out of here and move south of the border too!!!

i have sent an e mail to the gov of arizona and thanked her, now on the arizona law ,no were is racial profiling allowed, the laws saz if you are stop for any reason and like here in alabama that is a judgement call of the officer making the stop i have been stop for ins and driv lic checks by the city county and state do i like it no is it the law yes point being just because you don,t like a law don,t make it illegal, but like obamas beer gate, or the nepoitano it,s not illegal to be in this country undocumented ,people like obama and holder and the open border vote for me bunch so we stay in power, and to allow anyone to demand citizen ship is a slap in the face of the immigrants that have been in line for years but when you have people like reid and pelosi and obama that take money from the I,S,U , union that have illegals as members and have stop work place raids not all illegals are mexican but the 2/3 of illegals are from mexico ,i have been stop driving the speed limit and been ask if i had a gun or knife in my car that has nothing to do with the traffic stop
,what i am saying is if a cop can ask me something stuped and i don,t raise hell ,cops have a job to do are some bad yes are all bad no my point is if you an,t breaking the law and an,t doing nothing wrong you got no prob ,the only people that don,t like this law are illegals and the open border cheap labor liberal that either hate american,s or are to stuped or blind to see the damage being done to this country , healtcare welfare open land jobs and in nov of 2010/2012 i say anyone that votes for or is for open borders or amnesty show them the door and let them get out and find a job more suited like picking up cans on the sidy of the road

    ‘WE’ MEANS ‘US’…

The only reason the Feds don’t like the bill is beccause it puts the financial responsibilities back on them, instead of the states

    • George E

This law will undoubtedly create more work for the federal immigration authorities, but whether the federal government will increase funding for those agencies is yet to be determined. It should be pretty obvious that Washington has not wanted to spend money on increased border security and immigration management in the past, so it’s not clear that they will now either. It’s just easier for our politicians to look the other way and every few years give illegal immigrants US citizenship through another amnesty program. That sort of resets the problem, but does little to solve it. Democrats are counting on this continuing to happen, while Republicans just want the problem to go away without having to spend a lot of time on it, I think.

  • http://google fogey60

finally a politician who has the nerve to do something for the people instead of thinking whats in this for me we need other states to follow. there is nothing wrong with immigration but do it within the bounds of the law if we invaded Mexico or Canada the same way do you think they would give us the considerations, i think not

  • Arizona Rose

I’m from Arizona and I think the governor has made a wise decision. It’s a tough decision because it will result in profiling of a population that doesn’t deserve the hassle. On the other hand, the violence in Mexico, especially at the US/Mexico border has gotten way out of control. What was once a safe enjoyable region of the country has now turned into a drug war zone. Mexican criminals, and their business associates(legal and illegal) are looking for safehavens for their families, “employees” and businesses. We should not provide it. Their society is out of control and drug czars are holding entire communities hostage and extorting the innocent. Mexico needs our help to get these bastards out, so that Mexico is a place Mexicans want to live and Americans will once again want to visit, shop and vacation. This first step in blocking their efforts to come across should be applauded. The outrage is probably being fueled by elitist Mexicans who will be targeted in these car inspections. Hurray. Go home. When they leave their employees, most of whom we don’t want here anyway, will follow. As for the rest we do want, hopefully we can reinstitute an Ellis Island and you will finally be able to realize the American dream, if there’s anything left after corrupt greedy drug kingpens have spoiled and laid waste to it…… (Just think, you won’t have to pay a “coyote” to transport you over the border, you can just apply and wait patiently. No more extortion.)

  • Patt

Marvin: Where did you go to school and learn to write like that???

Please don’t introduce “racial profiling” into the discussion. There is nothing wrong with “profiling” it is used to stop suspected or obvious “law-breakers”. That is what cops do – it is their job. The fact that the stop turns up a predominace of one citizanry vs another doesn’t make it wrong – it’s just a fact of the situation.

Otherwise your thoughts and opinions are valid points of reference.

Way to go Gov. Brewer, FINALLY someone has defined illegal as being unlawful and is acting to enforce the law. How dare President Obama state that all who disagree with his leftist liberal view is “irresponsible?, how arrogant. We know that he wants to add these illegals to his base by granting them amnesty, when he said that illegal immigrants would not be covered by his socialist healthcare program it was tongue-in-cheek, as his plan was to legalize these law breakers by extending citizenship to the lot of them thus making them eligible. The prez sure has a low opinion of the American peoples intelligence. 2012 can’t get here fast enough, boy, we really do need a CHANGE in Washington, and the sooner, the better.

  • Beverly

The illegals and the Federal government DO NOT GET it. The true legal AMERICAN Arizonians do get it. They see our Federal government neglecting their own people to protect criminals. They are tired of their family and friends being murdered by illegals and nothing being done. Illegals act like have done nothing wrong, but they have by crossing the border WITHOUT PROPER PAPERWORK is a crime. It has nothing to do with them as they put “we are humans too”. It is about time that a State steps up because the Federal level person don’t do their job at protecting us. Think about it, how would you feel if you lived in the upper most part of the US and found out your spouse, child, parents or siblings were murdered by an illegal…right. Illegasl try to argue that they help are economy…but they don’t. I see them all the time at yardsales buying furniture, electronics, clothing and they don’t pay tax; Walmart has an isle with specialty foods just for them; they live several families to a house (destroying the property before they leave); they car pool (because illegals normally don’t have legal driver’s license nor own cars; there is a high population of illegals in our jails because of drugs, alcohol, murdering someone or some other criminal act; they marry an American just to get a green card, have a child or two and then get a divorce a short time later and don’t pay their child support. I see them all the time in the USPS getting money orders to send most of their money back to Mexico or other countries. Enough is enough, THEY DO NOT HELP OUR ECONOMY…they steal our tax dollars that we pay, by taking welfare, AFDC, foodstamps, Medicaid, etc. I know I am tired of it. It is time for Americans to stand up and do speakout. Illegals are criminals and their protests proves that, by their vandilism of a State building. SO STAND UP NOW AMERICA! Thank you for allowing me to vent my opinion.

The cost of illegals is staggering! The crime by illegals is 2.5 times the normal rate. The laws are already in place. Deport these people. We probably should send them to Iran, N Korea, and China, so it will take a little longer to get back. And we should remove those who refuse to enforce our laws from office. We should probably start at the top, because it gets the message across more quickly. We can do this with the vote, or with initiative and referendum. It is a shame we have to pass laws to enforce existing laws.

If, the people we have in place to enforce these laws, don’t get punished, why should we punish employers who hire these illegals. I’m not condoning hiring illegals, but it’s not his job to research their legality. It is the government’s job. Let’s have the government do their job and let the private sector do theirs. Let’s give the citizens their country back, and rid ourselves of professional politicians.

  • Jim H.

I just heard an interview with a person who is a LEGAL green card holder. He said, when he got the card he was told to keep it on him at all times. That already is law. I read some posts that say having to “show papers” means police state. I have to show ID to write a check at Wal-Mart. I read ” racial profiling”. If someone fits the description of a suspect, shouldn’t the police investigate? I read accusations of racism. If a member of a minority is caught committing a crime and arrested is it racism or just law enforcement? Arizona knows the answers to my questions.

  • chuck b

most employers should want to know if the employee is legal. people should really take heed in what this baboon in wash. d.c. is spewing out about this arizona law just passed. can you imagine any past president (minus clinton and carter)saying this law may not be legal when it mirrors the federal law in place. i don’t see why they had to pass any law when the current immigration laws are on the books. these politicians are afraid of losing the vote so they will give the country away just to stay on the gravy train. its time to send the train to the yards and switch out the empties.

  • Jeffrey Ainley

Leftists are acting like total wussies about this. America has laws and regulations concerning immigration, but if the police force are unable to enforce the laws then what’s the point of having them? Arizona police officers really need to be given authority to carry out the law.

U.S.C.I.S. fees are now $10,000.00 up from 2006 of $5,000.00 until Bush made new laws, making it harder for American citizens to get their husband or wife here, and the wait to be allowed to come here for a husband or wife can take 2 – 8 years. But if a company hires someone outside the U.S. they’re here in 9 weeks. Our government kisses up to corporations and treats families like sh_t.

Believe me, the Fed’s get it. Finding a way for them to stay is votes.
Years ago Cargill (meat production) recuited in Mexico and brought these illegal’s to work in their plants. When to much h–l was being raised about how many were taking jobs, the fed’s cracked down. Made
arrangements to “raid” the places. But only 15 were ever taken at a
time. This way the production line was not hurt. Those 15 were quickly
replaced by ‘newbies’ at less pay. Police state: How Mexico treats illegal aliens
      By Michelle Malkin • April 28, 2010 12:36 AM

My syndicated column today responds to Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s demagoguery on Arizona’s immigration enforcement law. Calderon has a long history of bashing the U.S. — and then getting rewarded for it with billions of dollars in foreign aid (see here, here, and here).

I reported on Calderon’s aggressive meddling on behalf of illegal aliens through his government consulate offices in America here. Heather Mac Donald published a thorough investigation of the Mexican government meddle-crats here. Allan Wall has reported on it for years. Mike Sweeney, an Arizona Republic letter-writer underscores my column theme today:

“Having traveled into Mexico last year to various cities on the Baja Peninsula, a distance of more than 1,000 miles round-trip, we were stopped more than 20 times at various checkpoints. At most of those stops, we were told to exit the vehicle and we were subjected to rigorous inspections. Where does Mexican President Felipe Calderón get off with his hypocritical outrage at our Senate Bill 1070?”

      How Mexico treats illegal aliens
      by Michelle Malkin
      Creators Syndicate
      Copyright 2010

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has accused Arizona of opening the door “to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement.” But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry new enforcement measures signed into law in “Nazi-zona” last week, they remain deaf, dumb or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.

      – The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?

I realliy like Michelle Malkin’s style…tell it like it is!

      • American Liberal

And, what happened to many of the Boshevik leaders in the years following the October Revolution? Why many ended up in Siberia. Why? Because the new Soviet govt was done with them. They were now in power. It is also instructive to look at what the new govt implemented following the revolution:

      All Russian banks were nationalized.
      Private bank accounts were confiscated.
The Church’s properties (including bank accounts) were seized.
      All foreign debts were repudiated.
Control of the factories was given to the soviets.
Wages were fixed at higher rates than during the war, and a shorter, eight-hour working day was introduced.

Compare that list to the last 18 months…

Arizona Sheriff Clerence Dupnik…I will not enforce the New immigration law if it passes…… The Arizona Sheriffs association does not support the new immigration law…… Crossing the border was already aginst the law…the funding and enforcement isn’t there ….

    • Jeep

Sure the funding is there…go into the schools and hospitals, deport all the illegals in jail, check everyone at the food stamp and welfare lines. And, eliminate that part of the funding and there would be plenty of cash to pay for enforcement…

    • JeffH

I’ve checked the story and can’t find anything about Dupnik saying he won’t enforce the law. Ya think Chaos tried to slip through a little white lie?

TUCSON – Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik spoke out against Senate Bill 1070 Wednesday. The often outspoken Sheriff is not holding back when it comes to the law.
“I think it’s simply political fornickaboobery,” Dupnik said.

Whatever “fornickaboobery” means, Dupnik was quite clear in saying he does not like the law.

“I think the law, as I have said is unwise, it’s stupid, and it’s racist,” Dupnik

Dupnik also said he thinks schools should be asking about their students’ immigration statuses.

“I don’t feel that it’s the obligation of the state to provide education to people who are not here legally,” Dupnik said

Still, he says he thinks this newest immigration law will be challenged in the Supreme Court.

Closer to the border, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever says the law will bring positive change to the state.
“There are people from all over this country, to include sheriffs from many, many counties that are encouraging us to keep doing what we’re doing here and thanking the governor for signing that bill,” Dever said.

The governor’s office responded to Dupnik’s comments, releasing this statement to News 4. It says, “The new Arizona law simply provides immigration enforcement the same way that federal law, and federal authorities, currently do – states may ban what is already federal law. That’s why local and state law enforcement associations, across the state, were supportive of the legislation during the several months it made its way through the arizona legislature, including the Arizona Police Association.”

    • http://naver samurai

Lets bring more law officers, like the sherrif of Maricopa County, down there. I guarantee there won’t be a problem down there for too long. Many will probably want to run home instead of getting caught. I think we need this kind of program nationwide. Liberals be !@#$%^!

  • American Liberal

I believe this immigration bill is more about trying to harm president Obama than it is about immigration reform….we already had laws aginst crossing the border illegally… If Arizona Republicans really wanted to stop illegal immigration they would go after the people employing illegals….it’s clear the people employing illegals in Arizona are republicans….suprised?’s just about cheap labor and exploiting the illegal immigrants… Typical republicans..

      • JeffH

Jeep, you make me laugh, and I’ll add to it that Obama doesn’t need any help harming himself(his image). That’s taken care of everytime he opens his mouth.

    • Jessica

The Arizona law is not about trying to hurt President Obama. It’s about stopping the current Amnesty Bill dead in its tracks. The criminal cartel in Washington was poised and ready to cram it down out throats, just like they did with that Health Care monstrosity. But Arizona scared them by focusing national attention on what they were up to. They know they don’t have to political capital to pull it off, so they’re backing away in a hurry.

    • http://naver samurai

Why does this have to be about “Osama?” Can’t this just be about how the State of Arizona wants to protect its citizens, economy, and jobs from these people who have committed illegal acts? Remember before they passed this law, a rancher in southern Arizona was killed by one of these law breakers. In the 1990′s a group of them were coming in throught SW Texas and were met by a squad of U. S. Marines. One of these fools tried shooting the Marines. Needless to say, they responded in true Marine fashion. They sent him to the here-after.

    • http://naver samurai

Why does everything have to be about Barack “Insane” Hussein “Osama” Obama? Couldn’t it be that Arizona is tired of this problem and just doesn’t want to wait for Washington to do something? In Indiana, our governor has had legislation passed to try to deal with this problem. What can you say about that?

  • Cactus Wren

I really don’t see the actions of the Governor of Arizona as a swipe at Obama. Truth is Mexico needs to take care of business and the federal government needs to stop people from coming here to force Mexico’s hand. They have an expanding and well developing middle class, who needs to wake up and smell the coffee….

After all of these wonderful comments above, let’s get to a few more brass tacks. Mexico has very discriminatory practices with respect to a significant portion of the “good” illegals that are coming here. They don’t like them because they are the indigenous peoples of Latin America, who have difficulty obtaining employment because of their class and low social status. My friend translated a sign on a factory in Mexico for me that was hiring. It said/translated to “Looking for males 20 to 30, Catholic, no blacks, no indians….”

Basically, they are sweeping their unmentionables across the Arizona border, and really don’t want to take them back, because they don’t want them there anyway. They have serious social issues that they would rather relieve by “exporting” across the American border.

They, Mexico, need to address their own human rights and civil liberties issues. Address and develop their burgeoning indigent population and create opportunities for those who are fleeing into America and retain them in Mexico and other Latin American countries. If you hadn’t cut down all their forest, they’d still be living there….. Go Home !!!

Same thing happened when Cuba emptied it’s prison population into Florida.

Let’s see….doesn’t this new legislation come with National ID?
Isn’t National ID a major White House goal?
I have a feeling that Democrat “outrage” is feigned at best and all part of the same old dog and pony show.
Enforcing immigration laws we already have should have been sufficient, if we actually did enforce them that is…

Watch now for state after state to adopt the same laws and make National ID…National.

You go girl(Jan Brewer)! All the states should do the same. My grandparents all immigrated legally into this country where friends & family members assisted them & had employment waiting, not welfare. Funny they could scrape the money for the voyage over & they were middle low income ( farmers, craftmen not doctors or lawyers). They all learned English & loved the USA. My father would not allow us children to put down our nationality on school forms “you are Americans” he would say (he was born shortly after my grandmother arrived at Ellis Island. I am sure he is “rolling over in his grave” right now.

  • Arizona Laws

Personally I think Arizona’s new law is a great law. We all recognize that we need to allow a better path to citizenship, but since the state can’t grant the citizenship the only way we can protect ourselves is to enforce harsher penalties against all illegal immigrants. We can’t sort the good and the bad until the Federal government acts. Instead of protesting our actions people should be petitioning their congressmen to reform immigration laws. We just want to keep the criminals and drug dealers out of our state.

Something people need to remember. Sheriff Joe has been doing this very thing for years and depsite the liberals sending people to get proof he is breaking the law, he is still in business and enforcing the law. Unlike that liberal Sheriff in PIMa county.

My wife just came her as a legal immigrant. It took us 3 years and $6,ooo but it is done. Citizenship to the best country on this planet should not be “easier” as some are suggesting. If illegals like America so much, transform their country to be like America and stay home. Have some national pride and fight for YOUR country. Don’t begrudge me for doing so in mine.

I am shocked that our constitution is being challenged not only by illegal immigrants , but , they are being aided and abetted by our own leaders in the Obama administration, including him! Though I am not political, I am shocked into reality that a net has been thrown out to trap law abiding American citizens, into being called bigots, etc. Tha spider web trap was thrown out in the form of the phrase , brown skinned or brown looking people, etc. I have watched the news every day and these terms have been used by those who want our constitution changed to fit, their terms. As far as I can understand, not only does this new bill complement existing laws against illegal immigrants, it includes every color, red , yellow. Black and yes, even if they be albino white, illegal immigrant. So pull that net back in, those who want to control our countries existing laws, and as far as the president, I have always thought that when elected to preside as president of ALL, the people of the united states, and that he would not encourage, or aid and abet anyone who would break existings laws of said country. The term he likes to use when talking to other countries when in opposition to their agenda is, WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS, let us hope that he doesn”t put himself in opposition to same said laws. We must preserve our country, as a nation of laws, not a nation of law breakers, for our childrens future….

Deport illegal only after they have spent one year on a chain-gang completing the fence between the US and Mexico. Also clear the brush and trees back 200 yards on the US side and dare an illegal to attempt a crossing. Time to take serious physical action.

  • Boanerges

Like I said before, ANYONE arresting our border patrol officers for doing their job should be at least sued. Or grab them, tie them up, and dump them on the Mexican side. Then the Mexican police can throw them in jail for being illegal. Obama wants them here because HE is illegal.

Also, why don’t the Gulf states citizens, that lost their businesses because Obama didn’t jump in on time, start a Class-Action lawsuit against him and his cronies? And why not hold him and his administration for Criminal Negligence in the oil spill and Arizona?

  • Dark Knight

The President called the bill ‘misguided’.
    No, liberalism IS ‘misguided’!

  • FreedomFighter

Now we can deport Obama if he goes to AZ?
