An Alternative To The Dollar

January 9, 2012 by

Dear Bob,

I read an on article on the devaluation of the dollar (The Bob Livingston Letter™, September 2011) in which you mention alternatives to the dollar. You mention the Swiss franc annuity. Can you elaborate as to how it works and how one would go about to obtain this type of annuity?

Dear J.H.C.,

Put simply, an annuity is similar to an insurance policy. You can use U.S. dollars to purchase it in U.S. dollars or any foreign currency. It is not required (yet) to be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. For information and a free packet, call 1-242-353-4261 or write to Swiss Annuity Information, P.O. Box F-42657, Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas 99999.

Best wishes,

This is the first I’ve heard of this type of thing. Like you I need more info.

Dear Russell, Bill I. and TSowell,

A Swiss Annuity is a bank account in everything but name only. It is considered an insurance policy so it is not reportable to the IRS. Your investment accumulates interest tax-free until withdrawal. You can purchase them using foreign currency — Swiss francs for instance — and your investments can also gain as the dollar falls against the currency you used to purchased it.

      Best wishes,

I agree. Could you get us some more info? I’m hestitant to call and order anything from anywhere and writing will take a few weeks.

Are you saying you basically buy swiss currency, hold it in a safe (secret) place and utilize it once/if the dollar fails?

I happen to have a bank account in The Netherlands from long ago ( military station),which is also on the report-list of the USA. One simply cannot just email or call from here ( usa), and ask for an insurance annuity in their country. I tried with a smaller country in the western european region. One MUST be present in person , to sign ( original signature;s) , then upon approval will they issue an Insurance for your person or life. This is what i have been told in person in western europe. Other countries may be more relaxed , but , gone are the days of hiding a nest egg away from inflation or outright robbery ( tax).
UNLESS you go vavcation in a South American ( non-reportable) country and try to establish some sort of savings or checking account , from then on , you may be able to start an annuity in that country,if you have the stomach for it. ( unrest may leave you stuck with frozen assets). And a lot of countries nowadays just dont take US dollars anymore, or charge high currency fee’s.SO, it is not impossible , but very hard to establish , unless you are a Proven WEALTHY person,
    good luck!
