Americans Unsure Where Good Times Are

Americans Unsure Where Good Times Are

PRINCETON, N.J. (UPI) — U.S. residents are divided about whether the country’s best years are ahead or already passed, results of a Gallup poll indicated.

How optimistic the view of the future could be — 47 percent said the best years lie ahead and 50 percent said they were behind — was sharply divided along political lines, with Republicans more pessimistic about the future than Democrats, the USA Today-Gallup poll released Tuesday indicated.

Sixty five percent of respondents said they thought 2013 will be a year of economic difficulty, not prosperity, Gallup said.

By a 53 percent to 42 percent margin, respondents also indicated they thought 2013 will be a year of full or increasing employment instead of rising unemployment, results showed.

Americans, by a 57 percent to 42 percent margin, said they believe this year will be one in which prices will rise at a reasonable rate rather than at a high rate, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said.

Eighty-five percent of respondents said there will be a Federal government budget deficit in 2013.

On global issues a majority, 75 percent, said this year will be a troubled with much international discord rather than an internationally peaceful year, Gallup said.

Fifty-seven percent of those asked said they believe U.S. power will decline rather than increase in 2013, results indicated. Also, about two-thirds of respondents said they believe 2013 will see rising crime rates.

Results are based on nationwide interviews with 1,025 adults conducted Dec. 14-17. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.

You know: it is amazing how people think! they think w/their IGNORANCE! A nation of (KJV) Bible readres who used to KNOW what was and what would happen has come to a nation that always hopes in mankind! that is one mistake…NEVER put your hope in man! Psalms 118:8 KJV This nation put hope in a Hope and change *&^%$#@#$%%^ and look where it got us! There are 5 stages that mankind goes thru in the regard to nations and their formation! They are: Preaching, Teaching, Culture, apostocy, and Paganism! When man goes one step past teaching, he hits “CULTURE” (in other words he uses school and knowledge to make him think he is someone and that his mind can slove any problem and it is always “WITHOUT” GOD!!) Then he “ALWAYS” goes into apostocy and then into paganism! This world and this nation are into paganism! Man’s interests and desires are paramont to what God wants, and man always thinks he knows better and doesn’t need God…He thinks he is alright. man has come to the last stage where he has arived at his godhood! he thinks he is now equal to GOD!! lastly, I tend to think “NEGATIVE” I always LOOK before I cross the street and i make sure what I am drinking is what it says on the label and i make sure it is gasoline that gos into my gas tank, etc etc NEVER take mans word…it always fails…BUT God never lies and he always gives light where man desires it! This nation will FALL, and so wil this world! the time is nearer than we think! Be always ready!! 1 Peter 3:18 KJV

Your right Homer, the good days are passed, now we have people who know nothing about the Bible telling many it has mistakes in it. I’ve been teaching OT and NT for years and haven’t found one of these mistakes they say are there? As a matter of fact, It says, they who won’t work won’t eat bet they haven’t read that. Also Lev.18 tells what God will judge a nation for and they go out of their way to try and slap that idea down but, God laughs at those who put their faith in mere men. This country has kicked God out of almost everything. Kicked Him out of the schools and evil was waiting to take His place, out of the public square and murders all around us everyday, the places with the strict control laws have the highest murder rates. Homosexuals have special rights for the way they have sex and believe it is owed them. Families split for minor things and leave their children to learn from the marxist government. Even teach children not to tell parents what they are told in school. Can’t share a asprin but give out condoms, this world is a mess and evil gaining power until God says, enough is enough and I’m sure He is about there. So the 50% of freeloading idiots become slaves to satan and his ways and they are the ways of death. God Bless Friend:

Why would you be surprised that 47% think better days are ahead of them. That is the same 47% that are the tax takers and they just received assurance that their government check will continue and they can continue sitting on their lazy cans and making no positive contribution to society. There should be no surprise that the 50% think that the best days are behind us since they are the ones supporting the 47%.

2013 will go down in history as the year that the USA went to hell in a hand basket and was led by Obama to it’s doom!

No matter how much money and feel good crap that is sent to a minority inhabited area, it still looks like a human pig pen. It has been the norm every time a new government theory has been tried it is wasted lots of taxpayers’ money. Wards of the government that go from birth to grave, breeds in the mindset of sitting on their hind quarters with their hands out for some freebies and a whimpy whiney voice like Dingy Dirty Reid.

Actually it is 53% vs 42%. But the 42% have jobs now (mostly with the government) and many others on the dole. They, in most cases, only selfishly look at their own situation and not take into account the other people suffering. So what do they know?

I see Stuart is spreading a little New Year cheer and not much difference from Ben’s doom and gloom. Obama has actually improved the economy since 2008 especially in the energy fields, housing and folks buying autos. Now increased taxes will be a stickler especially since the average worker isn’t making more money to cover that loss. We still have an onerous Congress who won’t cooperate on just about every issue. So is the glass half full or half empty? Since 2012 was such a bad year with a do nothing Congress, mass shootings, droughts and severe storms and so forth then I am slightly more hopeful for 2013.

I do believe the better times are behind us.Example i remember when bank interest rates was 4-6% , credit unions was higher then that, CDs was probably 10% or higher even. Saving was worth the effort. Look at todays rates they are pathetic and i don’t see them getting any better and now our govnment is asking more out of us. I say its time to drop wasteful programs and drop foreign aid! Finially get rid of people in washing that are self serving but not to their country.

I can look back, and see the differences between the 50s and 60s and now.We had freedom then. Now, whatever we do is regulated , or illegal. It gets worse every day. We cannot do anything anymore. Saturday mornings were spent at the high school lawn, or at the park, flying model airplanes. We spent evenings after homework, building and repairing them.. In the early 70s this became illegal. Model airplanes became “motor vehicles” and were illegal on the grass of the school, or park. Now what would we, as kids do? The police said that there were “model airplane parks”. Yes there were. Twenty miles away was the closest one. For a kid on a bicycle? Carrying his planes, and flying equipment? Evenings spent building or repairing ended. Now there was a lot of free time to get into mischief. Go to the shopping center and see what we can boost. It has become much worse since then. Now the thing is drugs, gangs , etc. Days at the park are gone. Yes the best is behind us.

I feel that we are on the slope that doesn’t end well. France comes to mind when people think that our nation is headed for better times. The last 60 years we will never see again and here is an example: right now the united states has 64 million people getting food stamps, and we have 21 million federal employees that is 89 million total taking money with only 109.3 million people working. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the rest.
