Amber Alert: Our Country Is Missing

Hello, I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. Do you ever get the feeling our country has been stolen? Where’s America? I want my country back. I think it may be time to call the police and issue an “Amber Alert.” The kidnapper’s name is Barack Obama. You might know him. He lives in the White House.

In the past, I’ve written about all the strange priorities of Obama. Priorities that suggest he’s out to hurt us, not help us. But the news that Obama allowed the shutdown of the “Amber Alert” system certainly takes the cake. Oh, it’s back up now, after a huge public outcry. But as my father used to say, “Watch what a guy does, not what he says.” The original action tells you all you need to know about our President. He is a man intent on hurting, damaging or destroying middle-class America, our military, our economy and our values.

Let’s start with a few actions that happened long before the government shutdown. Obama shut down White House tours. He released illegal alien felons from prison. He closed pools on military bases, thereby hurting the kids of our heroes away at war, defending America. He canceled Fourth of July fireworks displays at military bases. He canceled Top Gun flight training school for our best Navy fighter pilots. He canceled “flyovers” at graduation ceremonies for our Annapolis, West Point and Air Force Academy grads.

Is this normal behavior for a patriot? Why not cut welfare, food stamps and stimulus spending? Why not cut “earned income tax credits” for illegal aliens who never paid taxes in the first place? Why not cut spending on the advertising campaign in Mexico that “educates” Mexicans that their relatives in America qualify for food stamps?

Why not dramatically cut the 22 million government employees? Why not cut the obscene $100,000 and $200,000 pensions for government employees? Why not cut the foreign aid for people that hate America, like Egypt, Libya or the Palestinians? Obama has money for all of this, but not for the military or Amber Alerts. We need to issue an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen.

Who would make choices like this? Who would want to intentionally hurt members of the military, but keep spending on advertising to encourage dependence on government? It sure feels like these are the decisions of someone who doesn’t like America, who dislikes the military and wants to make patriotic middle-class Americans feel as much pain as possible. We need to issue an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen.

While the military and their families go without, there’s plenty of money for Obama to play golf, take vacations and spend $100 million traveling to Africa. While he was in Africa waving to adoring crowds, he pledged $7 billion to increase electricity access for Africans with American taxpayer money. These are just not normal decisions made in the best interests of America. We need to issue an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen.

But the decisions Obama has made during this government shutdown take the cake. First, he tried to close down the World War II memorial in Washington, an outdoors memorial that requires no government employee oversight in the first place. The objective? To deny entrance for 90-year-old military vets flying into D.C. for the trip of a lifetime (to honor their dead comrades).

Then it was the cancellation of the broadcasting of NFL games to overseas military. Then military chaplains were threatened with arrest if they chose to work for free. Once again, Obama showed his true colors: his disrespect for the military, veterans and religion. We need to issue an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen.

Then there’s the closing of national parks and recreation areas. Even privately managed parks have been shut down. Obama even shut down the ocean; fishing-boat charters are prohibited from going out to sea.

However, it is important to note Obama’s military golf course at Andrews Air Force Base just happens to be unaffected by the shutdown. Golf must now be deemed “an essential government service” by Obama. Maybe Obama is hunting for terrorists in golf holes?

By the way, even though Obama’s home golf course remains open, the grocery stores on the base have been shut down, forcing military families to pay 30 percent more at area supermarkets. A military family eating must not be “essential” to Obama.

But all that pales in comparison to risking the entire U.S. economy on a mission to embarrass the GOP. Obama runs around the country loudly threatening a Treasury debt default and promising “catastrophic losses,” thereby inciting fear and panic among bond and stock investors across the globe. He knows this kind of talk could lead to a collapse. But that’s not a concern to our President, because he’s betting that a stock crash or economic collapse would frighten Republicans into accepting Obama’s budget and re-opening the government. The President of the United States is trying to incite a financial crash. Isn’t that called terrorism? We need to issue an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen.

What matters to Obama is to purposely inflict as much damage as possible, as long as the Republican Party is destroyed. As Obama’s hero, Saul Alinsky, said: “The end justifies the means.” Alinsky’s end was the destruction of capitalism and America.

Obama is quite simply the biggest bully ever in the White House. He uses exaggeration, extortion, fraud and intimidation to attack his opponents and get his way. The Obama crime family makes the mafia look like Boy Scouts.

Yes, it’s time for an Amber Alert. Our country has been stolen. The only question is: Will Amber Alert even work, or will Obama disable the system? I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. See you next week. Same time, same place. God bless America and please protect us from the people that hate America, American exceptionalism, capitalism and American values. Unfortunately, it appears one of them is in the White House.

Obama certainly has his priorities straight. Shut down Amber Alert but keep his fat wife’s web site up. But then, the left is waging war on children. That POS seems to be going out of his way to find essential programs to close and keep open those programs we can do without, such as his continuing funding of Al-Qaida.

    • Bill

      Harold,
Good comment. The lefts failed economic policies has waged a war against ALL America, not just it’s protected classes

    • smilee

Everything that Congress has funded is up and running including Obamacare, why would you be in favor of shutting down what has the money to keep operating?? Your so foolish!!

  • FreedomFighter

“all you need to know about our President. He is a man intent on hurting, damaging or destroying middle-class America, our military, our economy and our values.”
It is time for civil disobedience, it is time to impeach and remove the usurper from the White House, it is time to remove the progressive cancer from congress, it is time to take back America.

    • Old Henry

Remember, he asked everyone to join him in fundamentally changing the greatest nation in the history of the world in the 2008 campaign. And the dumb b*ast*rds still voted for him – twice.
We don’t need gun control, we need VOTER CONTROL. Start with the 13, 14th and 19th Amendments.

      • HueyDude

The 14th Amenment shouldn’t even exist. It was illegally ratified, yet allowed to be added anyway. It was approved by one vote that gave it the number needed to be ratified, but within the same day, Congress found out that two votes for it had been cast illegally, but they let it go because of the number of radicals that were bent on making the South suffer during “Reconstruction.”

The Truth about the 14th Amendment:
            http://www.mises.org/freemarket_detail.aspx?control=282
“Legal scholar Gene Healy has made a powerful argument in favor of abolishing the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution. When a fair vote was taken on it in 1865, in the aftermath of the War for Southern Independence, it was rejected by the Southern states and all the border states. Failing to secure the necessary three-fourths of the states, the Republican party, which controlled Congress, passed the Reconstruction Act of 1867 which placed the entire South under military rule”.

          • smilee

Propaganda sites abound on the web and you are a real sucker for their BS. It’s not going to be revoked or changed as most reject your BS. Your take is also not true just propaganda.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Feel Free to dispute any specific claims, Sleepee. And please provide evidence since you have no creds on this board.

      • Alex

Start by junking the Second Amendment–it is a harmful piece of slave-owner scrawled drivel….

        • hippybiker

Alex, you progressive little twit! Tell that to the ghosts of some 260 million people in the 20th century that were killed by their own governments, after first being disarmed. The Soviet Union and Communist China being the worst. Your revisionist twaddle does not impress me, or anyone else. Get thee back under your bridge, Troll.

Slaves don’t own guns, the owners do, freemen do, Americans do.
Yes! the 2nd Amendment is harmful to budding dictators and wanna-be corporate slave owners. Simpletons that want all disarmed are ignorant of history, ignorant of the reasons behind the writing of the constitution, and ignorant of basic human rights to self defense.
Alex your display of ignorance is stunning, daddy Stalin would be happy.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

You can bet that Alex is his own worst enemy. It’s doubtful that even Liberal Progressives want to hang with such a foul person.

          • Vigilant

Agreed. Although Alex can find like-thinking reprobates with smilee, Eric Bischoff, NC, KG, Right Brain “Thinker,” Doc Sarvis and a few others of the Howard Zinn/Saul Alinsky fan club.

          Alex,
It is so obvious that you are a Marxist. You should not own a gun. In fact, you should put your money where your mouth is and turn in all of your guns.

        • Ed Burns

Get a gun put it in your mouth and pull the trigger, or you can wait for Obummer’s storm troopers to do it if you are so afraid of guns. Hey, That may not be too far off!

        • WHITE WOMEN EVERYWHERE

How about we start by the LOONY TUNES LIBS like Rahm Emanuel who runs Chi-town taking on the gangs in the inner cites whose illegal guns commit 75% of all gun murders & violence?

      • Bill

        Good analogy, Henry

        • Vigilant

We normally agree, Bill, but I see a dangerous assertion in advocating the denial of voting privileges to blacks and women.

The 16th and 17th amendments are more deleterious to our national health than the 13th, 14th and 19th.

P.S. That’s not my down arrow.

But, then again, you do not show a lot of intelligence, so maybe you will never realize that you are being manipulated.

Bill, when you read smilee’s comments, think of a predator that will not get to tear prey apart so his last ditch effort is to snarl and growl and bare his fangs.

          • Bill

            Good analogy, Nad
I should just ignore him. It is easy to get mad when you hear comments from the progressives who are hell bent on destroying our way of life.
It is no longer democrats and republican, it is the Marxists and the capitalists. The gap is so large that there is no compromise

          • smilee

We could pay down the debt if we wanted to but that would require more taxes to do. Can you see the far right willing to do such an honorable thing so the future generations do not get stiffed with it. They have just enough power to obstruct that. That is why they have become know as the party of obstruction.

          • Vigilant

Smilee seems to actually enjoy divulging his ignorance.
Tax EVERYONE at 100% and you can’t even BEGIN to pay down the debt. Your math skills are clearly as deficient as your English.
Reid wants to raise the debt limit by $1 trillion dollars. Guess what, ignoramus. That’s NEW debt, which means NEW spending above and beyond current spending..

          • smilee

You need a math refresher there is more than enough wealth to pay for it before this generation passes onto the next, the debt is to pay for things congress has already put into law and did not fund. and now want to renig without revoking what it is they will not authorize pay for. The party of obstruction does not want to pay its bills so they are not getting paid. Is shameful. .

          • Vigilant

“You need a math refresher there is more than enough wealth to pay for it before this generation passes onto the next…” You talk math but you provide no figures. Why not?

Do the research, sonny, before you continue to look, once again, the fool.

          • smilee

BULL you can stay in the dark for all I care, Your one who does not count in any way!

          • Vigilant

It was a certainty that you wouldn’t research your bogus claim, so here it is for you:

Total government revenue for 2013 is estimated to be $5.9 trillion.

The federal deficit will be $0.7 trillion and the gross public debt will be $21.3 trillion

            http://www.usgovernmentrevenue.com/current_revenue

Total personal income in the US was $13.4 trillion in 2012. http://bber.unm.edu/econ/us-tpi.htm

Now tell us, Mr. economic wizard, how TOTAL income in the US will be taxed to equate to your “more than enough wealth to pay for it before this generation passes.”

YOU are the one in the dark who needs a math refresher.

          • Vigilnt

            Vigilant:

Did you make a mistake? You guys were talking about the Federal Debt. I checked your sites. Federal revenue is projected at 3.0 trillion, State local is 2.9 trillion. Federal debt is 16.74 trillion now, 17.2 for 2013 fiscal year and 18.2 for fiscal 2014 (October 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2013). Far cry from your 21.3

I forgot to check your .7 trillion deficit but since the deficit is down to 600 + Billion for fiscal 2012 and going down, it is not likely to be .7 trillion.

You pay the debt off over time by bettering the economy
(increases. income and decreases expenses) and by changing our tax policies (laws). Hundreds of Billions of dollars are lost because of things like taxing hedge fund billionaires at a 15% rate, not taxing income earned by US businesses because it is held outside the US; imposing a miniscule financial transaction tax on on large stock trades (1/2 of 1% or less), etc. .

          • Vigilant

Please check again. The charts at http://www.usgovernmentrevenue.com/current_revenue indicate total federal, state and local revenue.

If you take your figures for purely federal revenue and debt (and I’m not arguing against them), the outcome is even worse.

Total revenues at all levels can only fund 5.9/21.3 = 28% of the indebtedness. For purely federal figures, the result is 3/17.2 = 17.4%. Thus, the federal government is in even worse shape than states and municipalities.

The real gorilla in the room is the figure for unfunded liabilities. Commitments to social security, military pensions, etc., are MUCH higher than the snapshot picture of current debt.

The federal deficit of 0.7 trillion is based on the 2014 budget and is shown on the second chart. Those are USG figures, not mine.

As for fiscal policy, there’s not nearly enough to be gained by tweaking tax policy. Take away ALL exemptions and deductions from EVERYONE and you’re still in the mire of unresolvable debt.

SPENDING levels are the key to it all. NOT tax increases or decreases.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Pure conjecture, Sleepee. Please provide some evidence for your conjecture.

          • Vis Fac

SMELLY you are so full of it your eyes are brown. We do not need taxes we need less spending. I am sure you have a vast stockpile of cash to pay your bills but normal people have to live withing their budget.

Government should as well however since politicians have zero responsibility reality takes a back seat to their agenda. If truth be known taxes are not necessary when the government owns a printing press especially the current government

The real reason for taxes is for control through intimidation. The IRS answers to no one (except ODUMBO proof is in the IRS Scandal) and has their own Schutzstaffel/Gestapo to intimidate the American Citizen one way to exert control by the government.

          • Vigilant

You are digging your hole deeper with each comment.

EVERY citizen counts in this country, whether they vote or not. That’s the difference between a democracy and a republic. The Constitution, and in particular the Bill of Rights, were drafted to protect the minority from the excesses of the will of the majority. If you don’t “get” that, then you have NO idea about the basis of our nation.

So no, smilee, choosing not to vote means you choose to not have your VOTE counted, it does NOT mean, contrary to your progressive wishes, that “you do not count.”

          • smilee

We were talking about elections and that did not include anything else until you spun that into it. If you do not vote you have no vote to count so you do not count in the election. How wonderful. 20% of the people vote for the candidates who have been presented by the Establishment.
And then those “elected” people get to pick and choose how to run other people’s lives against their will.
If that isn’t a typical Gang, I don’t know what is.

          • smilee

It is not against their will, they willingly chose not to vote and that is their will which is to let others decide it for them you assume you know it is against their will and it is just as likely that it is not. Your not a mind reader.

Foce I have been checking this one out…. There is not one iota of evidence to prove that millions of illegals or even thousands of dead people actually voted for BHO….. Most of these fairy tails have been debunked…Yes, there were a few hundred obviously illegal votes…. But that was it…. Not even close enough to swing the election…. Sad, very sad…but True… The whole ‘denial’ knife cuts both ways and indiscriminately…. Considering how much money was spent trying to defeat BHO and he still won is a footnote in the History books now… And should be a lesson to ALL Conservatives that a Face Man might not win simply because he looks good and tons of money behind him… Romney had too many questionable actions behind him (even though they were ‘legal’ they were NOT in the best interests of the American People and the American People responded by NOT electing him. IMO, Ryan was a poor choice as a running mate, he was just too transparent and not in a good way!!) Can we just move on and deal with this issue like adults? We need to discuss how to turn this around LEGALLY and NOT screw ourselves in the process…..

In the Nov. 2012 election Romney won Georgia by 53.3% to 45.5%. So much for that voter fraud that elected Obama.

When you are confronted with the truth you deny what you said. You linked the article as proof of voter fraud helping Obama when they article said nothing about that and it was an election that Obama was not even on the ballot.

Ob cars for sale, you have to buy one its the law. Thugs from the IRS will come with military grade automatic weapons to make sure you buy an Ob car. How much will it cost. The initial estimate is 2500 dollars less than your current vehicle.

Actual cost will vary anywhere from 50000 dollars to 100000 dollars more than your current vehicle, and you must buy one for the poor nickers who cant afford one. There are hidden fees and taxes, and the price will increase from time to time.

Who will save us ? Great question when you stop to think about it, we handed our freedom away to a man who did not try to hide the fact that he was going to fundamentally transform America, no one not even Media stop to think what this transformation that Obama was talking about would look like in America. This grand plan that Obama has for all of us is nothing more then big Government Socialism, to bring America down to a third class nation to redistribute the wealth to attack the evil rich people. Look in the mirror America and ask yourself, is this what we want for our children future. America was there to help other nations under dictators, to help bring freedom back to those people who lost their freedom to men like Barack Obama, as the world looks on in disbelieve, that the greatest nation on earth with the greatest Constitution on earth, has just handed it all away to one man. God help us all.

        SMELLY

Facts to a liberal are those that are pulled out of thin air and or provided by lame stream media to swathe their ineptness on
all things rational. Liberal one dimensional idiot-ology dictates they make things up as they go so they can blame others for their failures or force their agenda.

So whenever they have trouble defending and/or nothing to substantiate their positions they simply fall back on the FBAB (Federal Board for Assigning Blame) and/or character assassination through the use of pejoratives or labeling,
and/or citing lame stream media’s partial/fabricated truths and prevarications; then all their liberal inadequacies are soon considered ancient history becoming non issues and then quickly forgotten.

          Dear Patriot_Dave,

You write: “I want to know how you get away these ad hominem attacks while others (not ultra conservatives) get called out every time?” It is not true that “others (not ultra conservatives) get called out every time.” The moderator is instructed to grant leeway and does so. Wayne, you nailed it! Except the war on christianity! The national day of prayer replaced by muslims paraphanalia for prayer furnished in our schools, work places, etc. I don’t want to start thinking about all the things this man has done that is irrational, wouldn’t get anything else done.. Our Rhinos need to pay attention, join conservatives in the fight for america, or just resign! I lean toward a taxpayer rebellion!

    • Bill

      Good comment, Baron

In one sense, a taxpayer rebellion has already started. The lefts failed economic policies have hindered the economy so bad that their revenues have diminished. The extreme regulation and added burden of Obamacare has encouraged business to fight for survival instead of expanding and adding more jobs.

The joke is really on the Marxists. Even Russia and China know that by lowering taxes and regulation on business, you create more tax revenue by creating a booming economy.

      • Vis Fac

In reality a Tax is merely a control measure If one pays attention the government does not really need a tax as it can print (and does) as mush as it wants.

So the Tax issue and the IRS are merely control measures through intimidation. Why do you think ODUMBOCARE is administered through the IRS? The IRS answers to no one they have their own armed goons ready to assault anyone they want FEAR and intimidation is what the government wants without those they are powerless!

            Hello Force,

I have sat back and read most of your 1,847 post made over the last two -to three months with great interest.

The 666 after my name has very little to do with ” the mark of the beast”, but more to do with the random and re-occurrence in my selective service number, my first college student ID numbers and my first employee number at my first internship as an engineering student.

I was brought up by two christian parents and we all joked about it as a I was a young adult. People of real faith tend not to take any issue with it.

As for Nad’s misery, show me one of her post were she has said something positive, nice or uplifting to anyone.

          • Nadzieja Batki

Then you were not brought up by two Christian parents.

          • Bob666

            OK
I can’t wait to hear this, what would christian parents like yourself say about that?

I find it amusing that you know nothing about my parents or up-bring, but feel that you have the credibility to make a comment like that.

However Nads, you did confirm my comment about your consistent misery and your need to share it with everyone here.

          • Karolyn

Here! Here! I am consistently amazed at her analyzations – even about people who agree with her! Personally, I feel it adds to the conversation knowing something about the people we converse with. (And I do not believe that everybody is a liar!)

          • Nadzieja Batki

Two possibilities with your “personal story”, either it is true or it is a made up story. But going by your previous comments this is made up because if you give people a supposedly personal story they go gushy and mushy. We also did not ask but you are volunteering this story so is this supposed to endear you to us. You were not brought up by two Christian parents because your wording gives you away.

          • Bob666

Sorry Nads, your comments were labeled from whitewomeneverywhere.

“But going by your previous comments this is made up because if you give people a supposedly personal story they go gushy and mushy”.

Really, why would I lie about this?

“We also did not ask but you are volunteering this story so is this supposed to endear you to us”.
No, A non-factual statement was made, I was correcting someone who was obviously wrong.

“You were not brought up by two Christian parents because your wording gives you away”.

Care to explain? I was raised in the Presbyterian church from birth to eight-teen years old. My father was a deacon in the church and had a Masters degree in theology.

            Do you?

What were you raised and where?

            What religion were you raised?

Do they handle snakes in your church or do they just smoke weed?

          • Vis Fac

Thanks for the info I too don’t take too much of an issue with the 666 while others see it as a badge of honor so to speak. Biblical quotes are uplifting and truth no matter how dour is still the truth one can take solace that we are not alone in our thoughts.

If you choose to look for the negative than all you’ll see will be negative. I tend to see the glass as half full until I see differently there hasn’t been much that’s been positive for the past six years I don’t hold hope for any improvement any time soon.

            Hello Force,
Civil Engineering, bachelors and masters. I am in the process of retiring and sold my interest to one of the big five engineering firms, but now own a bunch of their stock on an equity swap and cash deal.

We have seen our business increase over 40% in the last two years, mostly in privately funded work.and have managed to hire several people in the last six months.

I am not a glass half full or empty kind of guy. As an engineer, i see that it contains 50% of it’s capacity.

As for Nads, I don’t believe that she has ever had a happy day in her life.

          • Vis Fac

Fabulous I do so enjoy a success story. I was tired of working for someone and During Carter’s term I made the mistake of investing everything so I could open my own firm. Damn near wound up in the street if it hadn’t been for the in-laws.

Reagan let me have the opportunity to succeed at least I was able to borrow barter and parlay what I owned to open shop. Times were tough sacrifices many and beans and soup were the meals of the day. Slowly but surly we grew.

Had been in operation producing prototype machinery for industrial applications and managed to acquire a few patents along the way.

Things went south when Clinton came to power and the state we operated out of got unreasonable with taxes and over regulations so we relocated.

I got tired of working for nothing and sold out to the employees who ran it into the ground (never received the final payments) Retirement is oh so sweet as I was able to stash a rather nice nest egg. I don’t have much money in US banks only what is necessary. Most of my worthless paper has been traded for tangible assets.

Good luck in your retirement may you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine.

It is so refreshing to know there are other “naturalized” US Citizens who LOVE America as much as I do. We have people who were born here and don’t know squat about our government. They take things for granted for they never had to earn their way they merely had things given to them. That is why they don’t care if they destroy what others fight for it means nothing to them. The term easy come easy go fills the bill.

There is really only one thing to know about the Government — They are just the biggest Gang in the land.
“To say governments were formed to protect the rights of men would be historically incorrect. Almost all governments were formed by ruthless men exerting their will over others through the use of force. Some governments, over time, evolved toward the rule of law, perhaps only because their rulers saw that this would sanction their own continued enjoyment of the wealth that they possessed. In some instances, this evolution involved one or more “revolutions” in which those who were governed were able to better establish the rule of law” — Clifford Thies.

To say I am not proud of some of the things I’ve done on behalf of the government would be a lie I am proud of the part that provided a measure of protection for the US I am not proud that I was brainwashed into thinking the government was virtuous an benevolent. I honestly thought I was making a difference. I did during my third tour in Vietnam I organized a unit to go into North Vietnam repatriate downed aviators who had been captured and had yet to be sent to the Hanoi Hilton. We were able to extract twelve I am proud of that.

When I realized all that I had done was somewhat questionable it was rather like when you find out there is no Santa Claus.

It’s at first shocking then you feel used, then angry, then you try and atone for what you have done. I’ve tried to do so ever since and probably given more away than I have at least in time spent helping others.

I try and pass along what I have learned over the years and have been met with ridicule from some so you can lead a horse to water but… you know.

Al-in-all I feel good about myself and more than comfortable with who I am so I am not bothered by those who feel they know everything. I know I don’t know everything so I learn more each day.

Of course they stump for smaller government…especially no interference from the EPA, so they can pollute uninhibited and no more High tax rates (so they can argue that Government must shrink)… These actions are not as pristine as many would have us think……

        • TheOriginalDaveH

The EPA is a Political organization and as such they favor Crony Capitalists against their competitors. It is a wholly unnecessary organization managed by unelected bureaucrats.
The proper way to address the issue of pollution is for Congress to establish Laws dictating allowable limits, and when companies break those laws their cases are adjucated in Courts of Law. In that way only the guilty are punished, rather than saddling everybody with onerous and costly hoops which they must jump through.

          • Patriot_Dave

I like your thoughts on this one!!! Lets start pushing to have that framed into the proper legislation and make it happen!!!

I like their ‘test’ I scored very High on all Libertarian requirements… I was slightly ‘left’ of center due to the fact that I am still uncertain about stripping away ALL of the safety nets at THIS time…. But, if in the future we can build a society that is not ME centric then I would score dead center ….100% Libertarian!!!

          • TheOriginalDaveH

            Dave,
As an increasing number of people worked productively, and thus produced prosperity, those who were truly unfortunate would have no trouble finding people who would help them. There maybe would be some curmudgeons who nobody would want to help, but maybe they would be encouraged to be nicer people as a result, which is a good thing.
People will always be “me” centric, Dave. Everybody wants what they want. Even ministers are doing what’s best for themselves, what makes them feel best.
Selfish is one of those words which people use to manipulate other people. And usually that manipulation is used by those who want something from somebody else (selfish).
I think, by and large though, that the most generous people would also be the most well-liked and successful in Free Markets. So over time we would evolve into a much more polite society than we have now.
At any rate, nobody has a moral right to take other people’s property except possibly for some wrong they have committed to somebody else.

          • Patriot_Dave

Let me share a little tidbit I keep on my whiteboard and often refer to….

            EGO = I/Knowledge

I’m sure that most can see where this leads in a ‘ME’ centric society… I am NOT, Nor ever will support, or even suggest that any form of ‘socialism’ would be appropriate for governance… However, societies tend to do things well when ‘collectivism’ is encouraged…but NOT through Government Mandates!!!! This being said we need to take a long hard look at what is best for society and that means we need to get beyond the ‘ME’ centric societal model and move into a new paradigm… In the past we often have referred to the 80/20 rule as the test for a social norm, a product design, a Law or a Statute and more often than not this has always led to compromise (no longer 80/20 and in some cases 1/99) which eventually leads to problems that are then touted as being the result of ‘compromised’ decisions…. This 80/20 rule is a good place to start and end in the process….. My favorite Patriot Ben Franklin had a lot to say about this kind of thinking!!!

          • TheOriginalDaveH

There is nothing inherently wrong with Anarchy. It rarely has existed though, because people with Leadership ambitions can’t stand Freedom:

            Dictionary.com
            an·ar·chist
a person who seeks to overturn by violence
            all constituted forms and institutions
of society and government, with no purpose of establishing any other system of order in the place of that destroyed.

            3. a person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against any established rule, law, or custom.

            Mirriam Webster
1: a person who rebels against any authority, established order, or ruling power
2: a person who believes in, advocates, or promotes anarchism or anarchy; especially : one who uses violent means to overthrow the established order

Doesn’t seem likely that Recon is an anarchist since he has fought for this great country.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

The word “Anarchy” comes from the greek word anarchos meaning “without a Leader”.
That’s all it used to mean, Jana, but the Progressives in their attempts to associate negativity with the concept started relating the word to “chaos” and “disorder”. After all, how can the Central Controllers keep their subjects in line if they realize that they don’t need monopoly Government?

The term “anarchist” is a typical Liberal Progressive manipulative attempt to shut down those who dare to suggest that we don’t need monopoly Government to have a decent society.

          • Jana

It still doesn’t fit Recon nor any of us. He wasn’t saying we didn’t need leadership, but we do need decent and good leadership, not the bad, dictatorship we have.
Thanks for the definition. I have an old dictionary, but it did not give me that definition.
I happen to agree with Recon about the EPA though. Around here they think they are God and can do anything they want.

You are also eager to shift the blame away from O but since he is the president he is the one who takes the bad and the good as his own.
Why start with the Koch Brothers since money comes in from more monied individuals than the Koch? Even Soros’s money is piddling.
Money also flows from individuals that have meager means but that is considered quite a bit of money to them, so are they also buying influence?

    Great article, Wayne
Obama is acting like a third world dictator. The sky is the limit as far as the lies he will tell to get his way. He is only shutting down things that will hurt the common man and nothing to do with stopping his tyrannical regime. How about shutting down the NSA, IRS, EPA and the FDA, that would be more beneficial to the economy.
Oh, but I forgot, it is all Bush’s fault

    • TheOriginalDaveH

I wish it was that easy. With nearly half of the country on some kind of aid from Government, it would be highly unlikely.
Either the non-producers are going to need to wake up to the reality that the Gravy Train will end some day, and they will be poorly positioned for survival when it does. Or the country is going to need a complete collapse to wake up those who refuse to see the light.
Meanwhile the rest of the population will just need to accept their fates as modern-day Slaves.

First: Thank You Ken Fisher for taking care of the our dead and wounded service men and women upon their arrival back home! You sir are a great patriot!

And now; Politic’s (Latin meaning ‘poli’ meaning many, ‘tics’ meaning blood sucking insects, source Ken Fisher) has become American Theater, and it’s one of the worst written plays I have ever seen. The two parties have just about eviscerated themselves to being inconsequential. The once prestigious Presidency, a countries leader, is nothing more than a party divider and a race batting lunatic. Our country needs these fools like we need a hole in the head, and if this keeps up much longer that’s exactly what’s going to happen. It’s time to put the children in their places, and that brat sitting the WH in permanent timeout.

They are talking about “fast track” legislative procedures, which have generally been ‘nick-named’ legislative Martial Law. They aren’t talking about real martial law.

Kind of like The ACA? The government has forgotten who really provides the income, it is we the people.
Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People; unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only.

He has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly Firmness his Invasions on the Rights of the People.

He has refused for a long Time, after such Dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the Dangers of Invasion from without, and Convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the Tenure of their Offices, and Amount and Payment of their Salaries.

He has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harass our People, and eat out their Substance.

He has kept among us, in Times of Peace, Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislature.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For quartering large Bodies of Armed Troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from Punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World:

For imposing taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond the Seas to be tried for pretended Offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an arbitrary Government, and enlarging its Boundaries, so as to render it at once an Example and fit Instrument for introducing the same absolute Rule in these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with Powers to legislate for us in all Cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our Towns, and destroyed the Lives of our People.

          “Kind of like The ACA?”

I’m not sure the ACA was passed without the opportunity to read it, although I wouldn’t doubt that being the case consisting of so many pages. The Patriot Act was a good example – it was initially passed without anyone having the chance to read it. Senator Sheila Lee has been the one to mention the legislative ‘martial law’, I believe, but unlike how they got around such bill (Obamacare) originating in the house via a “shell bill” it would be doubtful they could do the same thing for blatant funding of the ACA.

FYI, there is a “Read the Bills Act” that has been in the works for a while now to put a stop to that practice. https://secure.downsizedc.org/files/rtba-2011.pdf

I think we should bite the bullet and let the Government default. When that happens, the
Banks will lose, the Stock market will lose, and the People will be rid of these excessive burdens put upon them. We need a financial collapse, the whole world would suffer a short time, but the American people will rebound without all these extra exspenses.

The REAL CULPRIT was Americas FIRST DICTATOR, now it is OBAMA, next it will be?This article is the same result of “Divide and Rule” by the REAL criminals
in the Establishment, at the TOP of the Pyramid, in particular the
ROTHSCHILDS. OBAMA is only a SYMPTOM, not a cause. He is a Stooge and
Minion for the “Rothschilds inc.” The result of this “Divide and rule”
is that someone like Rand Paul, who is nothing but a compromiser, or
Hillary, a psychopath, will become President and then the “CIRCUS” will
start over again from this present “end point”. I have said this so many
times in my political emails and I say it here, again: If Americans and
other Westerners ( like Canadians, British etc.) don’t GET RID ( prison
and/or death penalty) of the people at the “Top of the Pyramid” which
includes the Warburgs, Gates, Soros, Royal Families ( particularly
British) and the Vatican, et al, then the DESTRUCTION of our Lives,
Liberties and Property rights, with resulting ENSLAVEMENT will GET
WORSE……. Maybe this is just the cycle in our evolution, we are
condemned to suffer, judging by the determination of people to blame one
politician or another, one race over another ,one religion over
another, one country over another etcetera, etcetera, INSTEAD of the REAL ROOTCause/Problem!!!

That was a GREAT ARTICLE Wayne Allen Root. I sent that one on. I agree with everything you said. Thank you for addressing it so very well.

When you said, “Watch what a guy does, not what he says.” You said it right. WE have been watching him say one thing and do the opposite ever since he has been in office, much to the detriment to this country.

  • Nadzieja Batki

These incidents of closing monuments, parks, putting people out of their homes, stranding workers in national parks, infringing on the crabbing industry by not issuing permits are power play between the GOP and O and his minions. These incidents are meant to scare people because they hurt, inconvenience, and economically paralyze. O means to do this. Two things will happen. America will wake up and see how much of a stranglehold the government has on its people and they will seek to free their souls and minds from this hunter of souls and minds. Or Boehner will cave in because he is a coward and because he never stood for anything in his life. This shutdown will prove what kind of man Boehner is.

How can Obama or any president sign a bill that has never gotten to his desk? A bill has to come to him before he can cause a shut down by a veto. How can you be so arrogant and so uncaring about what is happening to Americans? You say that these people know nothing about how our government works, but I beg to differ with you. It is true that no matter how many budget bills or anything the House of Representatives has sent to the Senate, Harry Reid (D-NV) has turned down almost everything and does not let any bill come to the floor of the Senate. How can you be so naive? Are you a liberal? You sound like one.

Why is that different than when the GOP does it as Boehner refuses to bring the senate bill to the house floor and the senate sent the house bill to the floor and amended it and then passed it and sent it back to the house so REID did take IT to the floor but . Yet Boehner will not allow a vote on it. YOU ONLY SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE NOT WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON. Pay attention!!

    JUST REMINDER
    Dear People,
On September 18 I did pass an information about the National truckers. They declared the massive convoy to Washington D.C. on the weekend of October 11-13, 2013 to PROTEST CORRUPTION in the government.

The National truckers thru their FaceBook page were asking the American people to JOIN THEM IN SOLIDARITY by not shopping or engaging in any economic activity that benefits the government. No commerce on those days stock up on items that you will need today. No banking, no shopping, no money transactions.

    DEVIL AT WORK
Before to post this Reminder I went to the National truckers’ Facebook page to check the update on the event and this page disappeared from the Facebook. So I started research. And what I did find was:

You are wrong, Jana. It’s not matter of “like”. It’s a matter
of the respect. I highly respect him as a leader of HIS country. I judge leader/man by his actions. The actions loudly testify WHO is WHO.

        1) When Putin was elected president of Russia in 2000, Russia was BANKRUPT. By 2006 Putin had PAID OFF Russia’s DEBT to the Rothschild-run International Monetary Fund and Russia’s financial dependence on the foreign financiers was now OVER.

U.S. debt keeps climbing toward $17 trillion milestone.

        2) He decreased poverty by 50%; Increased GDP by
72%; the average monthly income of the working populace increased by 150%

        3) Putin has issued an arrest warrant for the financial terrorist
and Hungarian bank dick, George Soros.

The Kenyan Fraud is Soros’s puppet, who kisses his a$$.

        4) Putin wins the battle for Russian oil over the Rothschilds and removes him and all his minions from Russia (including Bushes, Clintons, Kissinger, et al)

        5) Putin’s view on immigration:
“In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, SHOULD SPEAK Russian, and SHOULD RESPECT the Russian laws…Russia DOES NOT NEED MINORITIES. MINORITIES NEED Russia and we WILL NOT grant them SPECIAL PRIVILEGES, or change OUR LAWS to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell ‘DISCRIMINATION’. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive AS A NATION.

        6) Putin against NOW.

        7) Putin does not bow to the foreigner leaders. He is looking in their eyes.

        8) Putin has been building up and strengthening the Russian military

        9) Putin has taken a strong stand against HOMOSEXUALS’
        depraved PROPAGANDA.

        10) Putin has banned the adoption of Russian orphans by foreign DEPRAVED couples and as a Christian you should to understand how important it is.

        The list goes on.

Is Putin a perfect man? Of cause not. But he is a very good
leader for his country and he will not bow to anyone. He works for People and not vice versa. This type of the LEADERSHIP America needs.

        Enough said.

Oklahoma Suit May Knock Out Obamacare…!

Why didn’t anyone else think of it?

Scott Pruitt, the Attorney General of Oklahoma, acting on the research of Jonathan H. Adler and Michael F. Cannon published in the Case Western Reserve School of Law Journal, has brought a new lawsuit, on behalf of the state, against Obamacare.

Unlike the suit brought by 26 state attorney generals, this suit does not make a constitutional objection to the Affordable Care Act. Instead, it uses the language of the law to challenge the elaborate system of subsidies, tax credits, and individual or employer mandates and fines the act has spawned.

Adler and Cannon studied the actual text of the law — something Congress never did — and found that it explicitly provided that subsidy only to those who got their insurance through state exchanges. Indeed, the subsidies and tax credits were intended to be the carrot that induced states to set up exchanges rather than force the feds to set up their own.

The IRS has ruled that the language of the statute should be “interpreted” to extend the subsidies to those enrolled in state or federal exchanges, but that’s not what the law says. Section 1401 of the act, according to their article “authorizes premium-assistance tax credits and makes the available only through state-run exchanges.”

The section says that taxpayers may receive a tax credit only if “the taxpayer is covered by a qualified health plan … that was enrolled in through an exchange established by the State under section 1311 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

Adler and Cannon argue that “by its express terms, this provision only applies to exchanges “established by a state” and “established … under Section 1311.” Section 1401 further emphasizes that tax credits are available only through Section 1311 exchanges.”

The IRS and defenders of the legislation try to stretch the language to imply a mandate to cover those in federal exchanges. IRS director Douglas Schulmann, answering a letter from Republican Congressmen about whether the subsidies are limited to state exchanges, wrote:

“The statute includes language that indicates that individuals are eligible for tax credits whether they are enrolled through a state-based exchange or a federally-facilitated exchange.”

Unfortunately for President Obama, the statute implies no such thing. It is not only silent on any subsidies for federal exchanges, it is clear that the subsidies were intended to encourage states to set up exchanges.

The Oklahoma suit has survived a motion to dismiss and its standing to bring the suit has been affirmed by the District Court. Attorney General Pruitt hopes for a judgment later this year and feels the case might reach the Supreme Court by late next year.

For all the lieberal-progressives who are still confused as to who is responsible for the “government-shutdown”….

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going — except for ObamaCare.

This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record.

As for the House of Representatives’ right to grant or withhold money, that is not a matter of opinion either. You can check the Constitution of the United States. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which means that Congressmen there have a right to decide whether or not they want to spend money on a particular government activity.

Whether ObamaCare is good, bad or indifferent is a matter of opinion. But it is a matter of fact that members of the House of Representatives have a right to make spending decisions based on their opinion.

ObamaCare is indeed “the law of the land,” as its supporters keep saying, and the Supreme Court has upheld its Constitutionality.

But the whole point of having a division of powers within the federal government is that each branch can decide independently what it wants to do or not do, regardless of what the other branches do, when exercising the powers specifically granted to that branch by the Constitution.

The hundreds of thousands of government workers who have been laid off are not idle because the House of Representatives did not vote enough money to pay their salaries or the other expenses of their agencies — unless they are in an agency that would administer ObamaCare.

Since we cannot read minds, we cannot say who — if anybody — “wants to shut down the government.” But we do know who had the option to keep the government running and chose not to. The money voted by the House of Representatives covered everything that the government does, except for ObamaCare.

The Senate chose not to vote to authorize that money to be spent, because it did not include money for ObamaCare.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he wants a “clean” bill from the House of Representatives, and some in the media keep repeating the word “clean” like a mantra. But what is unclean about not giving Harry Reid everything he wants?

If Senator Reid and President Obama refuse to accept the money required to run the government, because it leaves out the money they want to run ObamaCare, that is their right. But that is also their responsibility!

Let’s see,she could have insisted on the defunding of the moronic Iraq War, the idiotic Bush Tax Cuts, even the Prescription Drug Bill, but she did none of those things because shutting down government and threatening default are bad for the country. Congress provided funding for every government service except for obamacare. Reid stuck a carrot up his butt and said; “No, if i can’t have it all, i’ll have none of it, and the devil may care, and f**k all government employees!”

Now, Ronr, don’t you think the wise and prudent thing to do would have been to accept 99% of the funding provided by Congress to run every government function/service, except obamacare, which would have kept 99% of government functioning…?(and i use the term loosely) and negotiate over the 1% (obamacrap-care) without inconveniencing the american people? What king of a louse is Reid, and for that matter, Obama? Don’t they have any heart?

        • Jack

          WTS/Jay:

Congress is both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Since the Senate refuses to pass the House bill, Congress did not provide funding for anything.

Why in the world should Obama and the Senate Dems cave in and let Obamacare be defunded? There is nothing to negotiate.

    • Jack

      WTS/Jay:

Take a few minutes and check it out. Almost all of Obamacare is prefunded which means the money has already been appropriated. It would take the passage of a new bill and Obama signing it before Obamacare could be defunded.

Neither Obama nor the Senate Democrats are required to follow the lead of House Republicans.

WSJ/NBC News Poll Finds GOP Blamed More for Shutdown

Americans have come to hold a harshly negative view of the Republican Party during the government shutdown, giving the GOP a far larger share of the blame for a political brawl that many believe is harming the economy, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found.

The poll of 800 Americans found scant confidence that President Barack Obama and Republicans in Congress can find a way out of the morass.

In all, 53% of those polled blamed Republicans for the shutdown, compared with 31% who blamed Mr. Obama.

Obama to Telemundo: Majority of Americans Wrong on Obamacare

      Wednesday, 18 Sep 2013 04:38 AM

In an interview with Telemundo airing Tuesday, President Barack Obama said the growing majority of Americans doubting his healthcare law are wrong.

Noting that people can begin signing up for the Affordable Care Act’s healthcare exchanges on Oct. 1, the Telemundo interviewer noted that the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows that most Americans oppose it, believing it will produce damaging results.

“Fifty-two percent believe the law will raise their health care costs. Is everybody wrong?” he asks. “Yes,” Obama said, laughing. “They are.”

Obama went on to say his opponents have spent billions of dollars in the past four years “misinforming” people about the law that requires every American to buy health insurance.

“All the horror stories that were talked about have not come true,” Obama said. “It’s going to be a good deal.”

The Ultra-Right has been hammering away with their rhetoric on the airwaves and cable soapboxes long enough that many Americans are questioning what it will really cost…. I’m sure the sheeples are just as gullible as they have always been… So no surprise there…. Everywhere you look there are about twice as many “OMG my premiums skyrocketed’ as compared to ‘Wow my premiums went down’ Without some serious UNBIASED reporting and NUMBERS, WE simply are not going to know for quite some time….. Chances are it will be somewhere in the middle…but IMO We will see an overall increase at first…. Now when the health care ins. market settles down and competition finally sets in, then and ONLY then will there be the possibility of substantial decreases…. I would not hold my breath on this one……

‘Truckers for the Constitution’ Plan to Slow D.C. Beltway, Arrest Congressmen
Police must detain ‘accessories’ to ‘treason’ or truckers will

Earl Conlon, an organizer of the event, told US News, “We’re not asking for
impeachment, we’re asking for the ARREST OF EVERYONE IN GOVERNMENT WHO HAS VIOLATED THEIR OATH OF OFFICE.”
These include House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), both for purportedly arming al Qaeda linked Syrian rebels.

“[and] if cops decide to give us a hard time, we’re going to lock the brakes up, we’re going to stop right there, we’re going to be a three lane roadblock,” Conlon said

“We want these people arrested, and we’re coming in with the grand jury to do it,” he said. “We are going to ask the law enforcement to uphold their constitutional oath and make these arrests. If they refuse to do it, by the power of the people of the United States and the people’s grand jury, they don’t want to do it, we will. … We the people will find a way.”

Republicans hit all-time low in Gallup poll. Is shutdown to blame? (+video)

In just a month, public approval of the Republican Party has dropped 10 points, from 38 to 28 percent, according to a Gallup poll conducted in the early days of the government shutdown.

By Linda Feldmann, Staff writer / October 9, 2013

The Republican Party is viewed favorably by only 28 percent of the American public, a 10-percentage-point drop in just the past month, according to the latest Gallup poll.

A new poll suggests Americans are mostly holding Republicans responsible for the partial government shutdown. 63% percent say it’s the GOP’s fault, half put the blame on President Barack Obama and the Democrats.

It’s the lowest favorability number ever recorded for either party by Gallup, which began asking the question in 1992. Democrats’ favorability also dropped in the last month, down four percentage points from 47 percent to 43 percent.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6, in the early days of the ongoing government shutdown.

I think for the first time since 1945 we may have a surrender ceremony on a battleship as Boehner tearfully (of course) hands his large gavel (What is this guy compensating for anyway?) to Obama while pointing to Ted Cruz and wailing, “He made me do it.”

It’s funny how virtual unanimity (Alondra excepted) of public opinion can budge even the most immovable of objects slightly in the direction of sanity.

      • Bob666

        Yo Jeff,

“Boehner tearfully” has to be the most ineffective speaker from both parties in my life-time. While I am not an Obama fan, Boehner is the best thing that ever happened to Obama.

So 63% say GOP plus 50% for Obama equals 113 per cent. Hey isn’t that the same per centage that Obama won some Democratic precincts by?

      • Bob666

That happens when you combine polls Robert. the answer is; both parties took a hit in the last tree weeks, it get down to who lost the most ground.

I believe that is clear if you are objective enough to recognize it.

New Poll Shows Shutdown Has Been A Catastrophe For Republicans

    Brett LoGiurato and Josh BarroOct. 10, 2013, 6:51 PM8,80046

    AP

The Republican Party is more unpopular than it’s been at any time since at least 1989.

With the government shutdown and debt ceiling fight ongoing, just 24% of Americans have a positive view of the Republican Party, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll.

That’s the lowest level in 24 years of WSJ/NBC polling. It’s also down 8 points from June. 53% view the Republican Party negatively.

That compares with 39% who view the Democratic Party positively, which is the same level as June. 40% view the Democratic Party negatively.

Respondents were 22 points more likely to blame the shutdown on Republicans in Congress than on President Obama. 53% mostly blame Republicans, while 31% mostly blame the President. 13% blame both equally.

The poll also offers reason to believe the shutdown and debt limit fight are having negative impacts on consumer confidence and the economy. 78% of respondents said the country is on the “wrong track,” and only 14% said it was heading in the right direction

    The Washington Post

The three biggest ways the government shutdown has hurt the GOP’s image

By Sean Sullivan and Peyton M. Craighill, Published: October 10 at 6:30 a

No matter how you slice it, the ongoing federal government shutdown has been bad news for the Republican Party’s image.

    Why? Three reasons stand out.

    1. The GOP has been getting more blame. No matter how the question is asked, poll after poll since the shutdown started on Oct. 1 has shown Republicans getting lower marks than Democrats for its handling of the issues tied to the shutdown. A Pew Research Center poll found more Americans blaming Republicans than Democrats; a Washington Post-ABC News poll showed Americans’ disapproval of the GOP’s handling of the budget negotiations climbed to 70 percent, compared to 51 percent for President Obama; and an AP-GfK survey showed the public holds the GOP more responsible for the shutdown than Obama or congressional Democrats.

The blame game isn’t nearly as lopsided against Republicans as it was during the shutdowns of 1995-1996, when nearly twice as many Americans blamed Republicans as blamed then-President Clinton. But for a party trying to rebuild its brand after a disappointing election, not-as-bad-as-the-last-time is far from desireable.

    2. Favorability is in the toilet. A Gallup poll taken in the days after the shutdown started showed the Republican Party’s favorable rating had fallen to 28 percent — the lowest since Gallup started measuring it 21 years ago and a 10 point drop from the previous month. Democrats aren’t exactly glowing, it’s worth noting. But the party’s 43 percent favorable rating is substantially better than the GOP’s.

    3. The shutdown has stoked intraparty tension. Republicans have been harder on themselves than Democrats have during the shutdown. Thirty-five percent of Republicans held their own party responsible for the shutdown in the Ap-GfK poll, compared to 28 percent of Democrats who said the same thing. And Republicans are more than twice as likely to hold an unfavorable view of their own party as Democrats are, the Gallup poll showed. The last thing the GOP needs as it seeks to unify, expand its reach and attract new voters is anger directed inward. But that’s the reality of what it’s dealing with.

    Fixbits:

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is set to warn lawmakers Thursday that he won’t be able to guarantee payments to any group without a debt limit increase.

Obama is set to meet with Boehner and his top deputies Thursday.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) had some tough words for Obama.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) visited with Senate leaders.

Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.) is retiring. Democrats will now be able to compete for his seat.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) and former Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan traded jabs at a heated New Jersey Senate debate. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin will stump for Lonegan on Saturday.

The Republican National Committee funneled $500,000 to Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli (R).

Is the Senate “nuclear option” on the table in debate over the debt ceiling?

Louisiana state Rep. Alan Seabaugh (R) said he is seriously considering a Senate run and doesn’t believe Rep. Bill Cassidy (R) is conservative enough to win.

I live in a fairly large Democrat district. There is little support for Ocare, and lots of bad news for the Demo Party, especially dirty Harry.

People shouldn’t put much faith in the media and even some of the Fox news talking heads. Don’t let the Demo hackers get to you, they are getting very nervous and if the wimpy Republicans hold their ground, Ocare may end up on the shelf where it belongs.

        Sorry Sammie,

Your number dont add up on this as well.

        http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/september_2013/support_for_government_shutdown_drops_from_53_to_45

Two weeks ago, 53% of Likely U.S. Voters said they’d rather have a partial government shutdown until Democrats and Republicans can agree on what spending to cut, while 37% said they’d rather avoid a shutdown by authorizing spending at existing levels. Now, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% favor a shutdown until spending cuts are agreed on, and 46% want to move ahead with spending at existing levels. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Republicans continue to strongly support a shutdown for spending cuts in general and ones specifically aimed at the health care law. Democrats are nearly as strongly opposed.

But voters not affiliated with either major party have shifted in the past couple weeks. While most unaffiliateds supported a shutdown earlier this month, now these voters are slightly more opposed than in favor of one.

Still, 51% of unaffiliated voters agree with 80% of Republicans that they prefer a federal budget that cuts spending. Just 29% of Democrats share that view, and just as many (29%) would rather see a budget that increases federal spending.

53% Want Major Spending Cuts As Part of Debt Ceiling Deal.

    Thursday, October 10, 2013

Most voters agree that if Congress and the president don’t raise the federal debt ceiling it will be bad for the economy but think major cuts in government spending should be part of any deal to raise that ceiling.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 15% of Likely U.S. Voters think there will be no economic impact if the federal government’s $16.7 trillion debt ceiling is not raised. Sixty-two percent (62%) believe it will be bad for the economy if the government defaults on its debt. Twelve percent (12%) say it will be good for the economy. Sorry, Bob. But I think you have the numbers mixed up as Obama bin Laden has been hit harder in the polls than the GOP. The GOP is winning the fight. Now Obama bin Laden blinked and agreed to talks, but the GOP will fund everything except Obamacare, which the American people do not want, and will not raise the debt ceiling. We need to pay off the debt we have now and not create more debt. Obama bin Laden and his minions are just sumpleton fools. Here are 2 articles by a real American patriot.

        Sorry Sammie,
The numbers that I have posted from four diverse polls that all say the same thing. Basically the republican house members are down by over twenty-five percent and they were just under Obama before they dropped.

        From your post:
“While it’s true that Republicans are absorbing more blame than Democrats for the dysfunction, the gap isn’t especially wide, especially compared to the 1995 rout”

” The White House must ask itself if the president may be”winning” in relative terms, but losing in absolute terms. A new Associated Press poll shows Congressional approval at five (!) percent, which is almost within the margin of error”.

“Obama’s overall job approval has sunk to 37 percent. For perspective, as he prepared to leave office in January of 2009, President Bush’s approval rating was 34 percent. This ain’t pretty”:

There is no mention in the piece where or what poll these numbers come from?

I don’t know what planet you are getting your numbers from, but the are clearly bias, old or both.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans are holding Republicans primarily responsible for the partial government shutdown as public esteem sinks for all players in the impasse, President Barack Obama among them, according to a new poll. It’s a struggle with no heroes.

The Associated Press-GfK survey, out Wednesday, affirms expectations by many in Washington — Republicans among them — that the GOP may end up taking the biggest hit in public opinion from the fiscal paralysis, just as that party did when much of the government closed 17 years ago. But the situation is fluid nine days into the shutdown and there’s plenty of disdain to go around.

Overall, 62 percent mainly blamed Republicans for the shutdown. About half said Obama or the Democrats in Congress bear much responsibility.

Asked if she blamed Obama, House Republicans, Senate Democrats or the tea party for the shutdown, Martha Blair, 71, of Kerrville, Texas, said, yes, you bet. All of them.

“Somebody needs to jerk those guys together to get a solution, instead of just saying ‘no,'” said Blair, an independent. “It’s just so frustrating.” It’s also costly: She’s paid to fly with a group to four national parks in Arizona and California next month and says she can’t get her money back or reschedule if the parks remain closed.

The poll found that the tea party is more than a gang of malcontents in the political landscape, as its supporters in Congress have been portrayed by Democrats. Rather, it’s a sizable — and divisive — force among Republicans. More than 4 in 10 Republicans identified with the tea party and were more apt than other Republicans to insist that their leaders hold firm in the standoff over reopening government and avoiding a default of the nation’s debt in coming weeks.

Most Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job, the poll suggests, with 53 percent unhappy with his performance and 37 percent approving of it. Congress is scraping rock bottom, with a ghastly approval rating of 5 percent.

Indeed, anyone making headlines in the dispute has earned poor marks for his or her trouble, whether it’s Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, or Republican John Boehner, the House speaker, both with a favorability rating of 18 percent.

And much of the country draws a blank on Republican Ted Cruz of Texas despite his 21-hour Senate speech before the shutdown. Only half in the poll were familiar enough with him to register an opinion. Among those who did, 32 percent viewed him unfavorably, 16 percent favorably
