Airline Insecurity

January 8, 2010 by

Airline Insecurity

We now know for certain what many of us have long suspected—airline security is the biggest boondoggle since Franklin Delano Roosevelt created the Works Progress Administration (WPA).

Millions of air travelers wanted to believe that all of the hassle, inconvenience and indignities of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) “inspections” were somehow making us safer. But one nutty Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, has exposed the whole horrible fraud.

There were several aspects of the Christmas Day almost-explosion on that Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit that are almost beyond belief. The first is that the suicidal jihadist was allowed on the plane in the first place. After all, consider just a few of the clues our so-called “intelligence experts” had before Abdulmutallab boarded Northwest Flight 253.

He was a known associate of Muslim extremists. In fact, his father—a respected banker in Nigeria—had actually gone to the United States Embassy there to tell authorities that his son had become a dangerous radical. That warning alone should have been enough to put Umar on the “no fly” list for the rest of his life. But no.

Then, he shows up at the Amsterdam airport with no luggage, pays cash for a one-way ticket, and manages to get himself assigned to a seat right over a fuel tank in one of the wings. Nothing suspicious about any of that, is there?

Oh, and did I mention that Abdulmutallab was waved through security with 80 grams of PETN—a compound related to nitroglycerin—and other bomb materials sewn into his underwear? We’ve been told that the new screening devices are so sophisticated they can see through your undergarments and even tell the last time you clipped your toenails. But they didn’t see anything wrong with Umar.

If there was ever a textbook example of a terrorist who should have been stopped long before he got anywhere near an airplane, it was Umar. Yet there he sat, waiting for his plane to approach Detroit before he put a blanket over his lap and tried to detonate his bomb.

Fortunately for the 278 passengers and crew on Northwest flight 253, Umar’s buddies in al-Qaida screwed up. The detonator didn’t work properly. And instead of a massive explosion that took the plane down, smoke and fire erupted from Umar’s underpants. A couple of brave passengers helped subdue the would-be bomber. And when the plane landed safely in Detroit he was led away in handcuffs.

So then what happened? Well, first, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano made a total fool out of herself and her agency by going on television and bragging that “the system worked.” No, Janet, the system didn’t come close to working—something Barack Obama finally acknowledged.

But at first, even our President was silent about what went wrong. It took three days and a rising chorus of anger and disbelief before Obama interrupted his vacation in Hawaii to admit that “there had been a ‘systemic failure’ of the nation’s security apparatus.”

Since then, I have to admit, the President has spoken out much more forcefully and emphatically. But we’re all still waiting to hear about what changes will be made to make our people and our country safer.

For starters, how about increasing the scrutiny of young Muslim males known to have ties to jihadist extremists? It’s time to stop patting down 80-year-old grandmothers and other obvious innocents. Let’s put the focus on the most likely threats to our safety and security, not the most unlikely.

As we learn more about what almost happened the news just gets worse for the reputation of our so-called security experts. Did you know that when Umar applied for a visa to visit Britain authorities there turned him down flat? Wouldn’t it have been nice if U.S. authorities acted as decisively?

“Information was not shared…. Analysis was not pooled…. Often, the handoffs of information were lost across the divide separating the foreign and domestic agencies of government.”

An accurate assessment of the mistakes that almost permitted the Christmas bombing to succeed? Not quite. That is part of the summary by the 9/11 commission of what went wrong eight years ago.

Eight years, billions of dollars and untold man-hours later, we’re still making the same mistakes. Let’s be honest here: Airport security is one gigantic boondoggle. Is there anyone anywhere who actually believes that the demeaning inconvenience of airport security is actually making us any safer?

Before you raise your hand in the affirmative, please consider this: No airline employee—not a single pilot, flight attendant or even a mechanic—has to endure the same security procedures that you and I do. In many airports they have their own private entrances where all they need do is to flash some ID and, presto, they pass through their own private portal. I’ve been told that they never even have to take off their shoes.

How difficult would it be for a potential terrorist to steal or forge some airline ID? They’d be waved through security in a second, while some 80-year-old grandmother has her denture-cream checked. (We can’t be guilty of “profiling,” don’t you know.)

The TSA has given jobs to tens of thousands of people who would barely qualify to flip burgers at McDonald’s. And don’t some of them just love the authority they’ve been given to boss us around? Talk about creating several thousand petty tyrants.

Another issue that really rankles me is the millions of productive man-hours that are being lost every year, as we shuffle shoeless through lines that are longer, slower and far more degrading than anything you have to endure at Disney World.

Is there anything worse than being herded like sheep by people you probably would never hire at your office—all the while knowing that none of this is really making you any safer?

Yes. Worse than all of the individual indignities is the effect on us as a people. We are being conditioned to be docile and obedient, to never question authority, no matter how unreasonable or abusive it becomes. And that’s what frightens me the most.

Until next time, keep some powder dry. (But don’t say that out loud at an airport.)

Airline Security is completely “reactionary”. It does little or nothing to protect us because it only happens after an event. There is a good book out called “Brave New War” written by an ex US Air Force security officer who spent most of his career in the Middle East.
The underlying truth to Airport Security is that we are being trained to comply with whatever we are told is for our own good. Get in line, do this, do that, go into this room and take your clothes off, walk through this radiation machine…etc.etc.

    Like good sheep.

    • DaveH

That’s right JC, and anybody who thinks it will stop at airlines is dreaming. As soon as some radical bombs a building they will start instituting check points at critical buildings and maybe even on the roads. These people don’t have a clue about economics and they will happily drive this country into the ground in the quest of “safety” which we never will have. As it is, our life expectancies are much greater now than they were a few hundreds years ago when our freedom-seeking Founders created this country. But are the Liberals happy with that which freedom has wrought? Absolutely not! They won’t be happy until we are all subjugated and destitute.

      • denniso

So, it’s the mean, evil liberals fault that we have to take our shoes off?? Didn’e all this airline security start w/ repubs in power?? You are trying to play politics, once again, w/ a tough issue that affects nearly the whole country. Would you prefer we have no airline security and let libertarianism prevail..live and let live?? That makes you a minority of 2.
The real lesson is that No security can be perfect and we can’t ‘win’ the war w/ terrorists by force and bullets alone. There will always be a way to get around any security as long as there are committed extremists who believe they get to heaven by murdering innocents.

        • DaveH

          Dumniso,
I was talking about freedom. And I consider a Liberal anybody that thinks Big Government is the solution. That includes many Republicans.

I suspect its the ATA officers who suffer when you take your shoes off.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Uh denniso, excuse me? Do you not understand, that the only communication these muslim terrorists understand, is violence. Im sorry dear, but its true. They do not respond to being nice to them. Pacifism doesnt work for them, as much as you would like it to. Appeasing them doesnt work either, so your out of luck there also. You cant sit down and talk with them. They dont respond to anything, except slapping the crap out of them. Death is what they want, and it must be given to them. If you dont understand this, then you dont understand the enemy, and you will be crushed under their foot. You cannot defeat an enemy, unless you understand them. But then again, with you being a left wing pacifist appeasing liberal, you dont care, do you?

          • denniso

You clearly don’t understand what I wrote and I can only guess that you presume I’m a pacifist because I don’t wave a gun and threats around. You’re clueless Beb…

          • DaveH

            I presume you’re a Zealot Denniso.

          • SiliconDoc

I think you do completely understand what the liberal wrote, and furthermore I completely understand the airline security charade is occurring absolutely because the liberal deranged idiots have screeched and wailed about discrimination for many decades, and now their insane equality for all has blown a hole in the mind of the USA, and we have grannies and lifelong harmless citizens as well as everyone else undergoing the clueless retardation that is TSA implemented.
I thank the endless insanity of the ding dang libtards 100%, and the very fact that “the Bush regime” even had to cowtow to the new age libtard social and government control is only further evidence that essentially the communist progressive socialist demolib tards have absolutely won, period, and they will be our destruction.
Now the giant government machine fears itself and it’s own insane actions (how can it not ?), while the endless pumping of the propaganda left media machines and weaseling whining libtards drive home in collusion with the crazy activists courts and international lawyer kookball traitors and enemies domestic, the “everyone gets searched” insanity.
Yes, nothing short of INSANE, thanks to the progressive commie quacks snowballed by their own freely professed and deeply ingrained stupidity and worldview, and it appears nothing will stop it.
They are the terrorist’s greatest friends, and real freedom’s greatest enemies – destruction from within, is full steam ahead.
Of course the very crybaby weasel’s that cause it scream and rail against their usual suspects – the man the establishment and the CIA and the MIC, and on and on and on – all the while often claiming those very same created the enemy, are sustaining the enemy, and “in fact” are really the only enemy. One big swirling mass of a tinfoil capacitor on their noggin containing ten thousand million jigawatts of brainfried stupidity.
Thanks a lot quackball libtards – you are truly incredibly deranged specimens.
I, personally, am quite surprised by it all. I guess the utter kookerdom arrived before I was born.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

As far as airline safety goes, I feel we should do exactly what Israel does to get on their flights. They dont seem to have a problem.

        • David

Uh they profile….we are way to PC to do that. We wouldn’t want to hurt any radical muslim’s feelings now would we!

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are right. As long as we have left wing liberals around, we cant look at the people that are guilty of stuff, or were picking on them unjustly. I mean, since it was all muslim Arabs that flew all the planes into buildings, we should be on the look out for 80 year old white grandma’s and grandpa’s, because since they are white, they arent allowed to have rights. Maybe strip search all the Christians, Jews and Catholics, because they arent allowed to have rights either. Isnt it a shame that the ACLU and the democrat liberals have led us down this path, and that the Republicans dont have the balls to stand up and tell them where to get off, that enough is enough. Dave’s Libertarian Party is sounding better and better by the day to me.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The way I see it, this will all be forgotten soon. I mean, look how terrible 9-11 was, and some people not only have forgotten about it, some want to give lawyers and protections to current terrorists trying to kill us, and that just the democrats that are calling the shots that are running this country.

      • http://shortmaryann78@hotmail.com Maryann

In reply to Dave H. I am very sensitive to electronics, the kind that Homeland Insecurity has been putting out the last three or four years all over the country. Every public transportation building like ferry boat terminals, all government buildings like post office, train depots etc. have listening devices on the outside of the buildings clear out to the sidewalks as far as to the streets. There is not privacy left. When they first installed these things, I went crazy what it did to my body. I had to complain about the devices were too strong for me to tolerate. Insensitive people, which is most of the people, finally learned to calm the stuff down. Now I can pass by or enter any building.

      • Tinwarble

        Dave,

You are right, however, it has already started with buildings. Have you not gone to your local courthouse, where now you don’t just have to go through a metal detector, you have to lift your shirt, take off your belt, take everything out of your pockets, including your wallet & lift up your pants legs. You can’t even walk in with a small pair of nail clippers because they’ll confiscate them from you.

I worked in a non union plant for 15 yrs and 11 months. For all those years I receive $51.53 cents a month living expenses.
I worked for Gm for about the same amount of time and I receive a little over 700.00 a momth, which as of Dec 31-I lost all my insurance benefits, One prescription I must have for survival will cast me over 500.00 for a three month supply. So I ask how can you in good faith refuse to want a decent health care plan for all Main Street Americans?
We pay for the best coverage for our employees so why are we not entitled to get a little piece of the good stuff we’ve payed for so many to have? Got an answer for me? I,ve worked for everything I have been on no handouts. I have payed for the coverage so it is no free handout. Any answers people besides selfish reheritoric?

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I dont really know how to properly answer this one Dee D, but you know, I would wish for people like you, that your health care would be taken care of. At the same time, Im against this health care bill the dems are trying to force down our throats, because what they want to do is take working guys like me, and believe me, this is how it will be, I will have to pay much, much more, plus higher taxes, for their sole intention of giving these unemployed bums that refuse to work, you know, the guys that sit on someones porch all day drinking 40′s and smoking cigarettes, they will get free health care, because hey, their poor. But working joes like me, were going to foot the bill for them, and I have a big problem with that. Im allready paying for their welfare and food stamps which they sell to get money for alcohol and drugs and cigs. Now I get to pay for their doctors visits? Sorry, Im totally against that. I would gladly vote for something that would benefit our retirees and senior citizens, that have allready toiled through life and worked to get to where they are now. But Im totally against these 20 to 25 years olds that expect the government to take care of them and provide everything for them, being taken care of with my dime, and cost me more. Its all wrong.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I hope it doesnt end up being like OSHA, where they keep expanding their power, and now fill so much red tape into jobs, thats its just rediculous what you are supposed to do in the name of safety, and its costly, mostly unnecessary, and the other thing is, you can have 10 different guys from OSHA, and all 10 will tell you a different set of rules. Its costly to business’s and I feel a lot of it is designed to make money for their buddies that sell a lot of this safety stuff that is unnecessary.

    • Time

Your so right, but lets also look at it this way we all recall the events of 9 11 01 but what we tend to forget are the events that took place just after that event. We have a law that congress passed called the {Patriot Act,} that made all of us fit what ever profife the Government deems UN FIT at the moment.

Just after the TSA took over comand of the airports, we went to pick up a friend at the airport.
I sat and watched events unfold that to this day have left me with out words.
I watched a group of ” Muslim” men no less than 50 all walk straight through every check point with out even being looked at once; let alone twice. And they did not even remove their shoes nor jackets, nor did they place their bags / carry ons on the X ray tables.
Not a single one, yet every single white person was forced at gun point to do so.
There were no less than 100 armed US ARMY guards there.

Yet every young White blonde woman was stopped and check ten times by each member of the manic squads set in place to protect you from Harm.

The one event that blew my mind was an elderly White man about mid 70′s early 80′s who was obviously was very hard of hearing who was slammed against a wall by no less than ten TSA and US Army members all armed with M 16′s then they all beat the crap out of him, by hitting him with their guns kicking and punching him with both feet and hands. Then three of them pulled his pants off, while two others rip off his jacket and shirt.
Then he was then bound with cuffs laying face down on the floor. With no less that 4 of these Army persons with thier foot on his back holding him dowm. Then Before they let him up he was kicked no less than 20 time by these men, why you ask he was crying to please be let up off the cold floor.
He ask over and over what have I done?

Where did this happen you ask some war zone in the middle east, No that was at Raligh Air Port in North Carolinia.

I submit to you that we are a POLICE state and have been one for years. Was the book 1984 far off base. NO.

Its only going to get worse, when it happens to you what will you all do?

Now ask this question for all of you, how much stock do you think the O bama and congress members have in the {new body scaners company?} Keep in mind they are spending well over a BILLION dollars of YOUR money on these.

This last event 12. 25 09 is so clear it was staged its sick.

Now I ask are you awake yet folks?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sorry, but I do not believe for one second that a late 70 to early 80 year old man, was thrown against a wall by 10 soldiers, and beaten and kicked 20 times. I just dont believe that for a minute.

        • DaveH

It is hard to believe, but I do think we are fast approaching that kind of brutality by Government Officials.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I would seriously believe, that if they do indeed start pulling that kind of stuff, that the days will be here when government officials are being taken out back of the wood shed and being given some whoopings, and rightfully so.

        • coal miner

          Beberoni,

I agree with you.I think this guy is out of orbit.Time, you better stop drinking that stuff and drink millers lite.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dude, at least you could have picked a good tasting beer.

          • Claire

Coal miner—no, no, no, Bud Lite!! LOL

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

BeBe; I really hate to burst your bubble – but in all police departments there are housed liars. thieves. drug pushers.crooks, men who believe the laws only applies to the ones they want to apprehend and not themselves. They also house pedophiles who love to fondle women prisioners because they know they can do little about it under the circumstances. There are many more sick’o’s out there than you would care to call brother. And yet the blue law covers all their backs. There are also a lot of decent men in uniform but the detract from themselves and become just as rotten as their counterpart because they either look away while refusing to see whst yhey are seeing and in my eyes makes them just as guilty as the evil doer.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

In response to Dee D. I take it you must live in a big city where corruption runs rampant. Where I live, I trust our police department, and I know many of them, the local Sheriff, and the head of the city police dept., and these guys wont tolerate corruption on their watch. Everywhere I know of, the Sheriff is an elected post, so maybe your town needs to elect a straight shooter that will straighten things out.

          • Claire

Beberoni–Here in Illlinois and the town where I live, the local sheriff was involved in a wreck–hit a telephone pole. He was drunk. No ticket, no DUI, nothing. Came out of it smelling like a rose and got re-elected. And he is a Republican. So as far as I am concerned the Republicans here in Illinois are in the same caliber as the Dems.

        • Time

Dude it happened and its 100% Gosple truth.
My Wife is an officer of the court, aka a Lawyer, we both saw all of this event with our own eyes, as we watched in horror.
Sad to say thats not all that has happened since then.
When the “Health Care Bill” pass’s, this is an open invitation to every part of YOUR life.
Of what {anything} then can be harmful to your health for any reason, thus the Government can then take away anything from you at any time. Think Hitler’s Health Care paln.

Will you believe it when a group of US Marines come to fetch you from your home to take you to a FEMA Camp? Keep in mind what you post here is that OPEN INVITATION for such to happen.

          Wake up.

          • JC

I don’t picture a group of AMERICAN Marines rounding people up.
Doesn’t mean that uniformed low lives won’t be doing it though.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

JC There is good and bad in all of us and the end results are what comes out in the end. There are still a lot of mean skinned bullies living amoung us and whom they choose to join will determine all our futures.

I did a search using the info you listed and found nothing. Can you be more specific?

If that’s what happened, that’s just brutal.
here’s some video of a woman being treated in much the same manner…for “security”.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1Qx0cTze0M&feature=related

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Time- no amount of security placed anywhere in any air port or on any street corner if the Main Street citizen is not willing to do their part and be vigilent. This country belongs to all of us and we should be willing to protect her at all times. She’s been very good to us until we allowed the cancerous vermon to sneak in as our leaders and protectors. They have shown us time and time again where their loyality lies (in their pockets) and we’ve played our game very well by being the catalist enablers. Where should we stop Maybe before the OWO is shoved down our throats??????????????????????????????????????
        Think about it ALL.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

All the security in the world cannot help the ones who contribute nothing for their own safety. Too many scum bags have their head twisted on the wrong direction hoping for complete failure for our country. These poor demented souls. They take the hate mongering psycho’s at face values and fly off the deep end. May God have mercy on them and their propaganda spewers – because there will be a price paid for redemption.

      • Claire

I do not listen to Rush, Hannity, Beck, Malkin, Obermann, Maddow–none of them. I do not care for the diatribe plus I do not need to be brainwashed into their way of thinking. I am my own person. I read and I listen to what Americans have to say. I read what everyone puts on these sites. I will make up my own mind when the time comes to vote. I have been swayed in the past but never again.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Be true to yourself Claire. If we all had a little more self respect then it may be possible to respect a lot of others. At least to a point of listening and trying to reach a common goal for the salvation of our great nation. For all future generations.

          • Claire

Dee D– Sure, I have listened to all of them, but the propanganda people are always for a certain party, they are all biased. And I will make up my own mind about what I want to do and how I will vote. And as far as reaching a common goal, all of us want to take our country back. I do not expect others to think the same way I do.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

Just realizing we are 90% of the problem is a positive step in the right direction. Until we are able to see our faults in all matter we will just keep making the same mistakes over and over again with no forward movement that can help any of us.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

Good quality Claire. Hang onto it.

        • Claire

DeeD–yes, we are 90% part of the problem in many ways. That old saying —”You reap what you sow” is so true. Another one “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” There are some things in life that cannot be changed and there are some things in life that cannot be made better. We can fix some things and not others. It sometimes is the combination of the two. So I guess a person does what they can.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

Claire: My mother had a very true and wise saying that rings just as true today as it did in 1894- Her own I think as I have not run across it anywhere else.
‘LIFE IS OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT AND WE WITHDRAW WHAT WE DEPOSIT SEVEN TIMES OVER’
“Another I try to live by — I would rather live my life as if there is a God – Die – then find out I was wrong— Than to live my life as if there were no God – Die – To find out I was wrong and God does exist”.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I do remember just recently, when a bunch of scumbags were wishing for America’s failure in the war. They wanted it so bad. Some even made statements on TV that if we suceed there, it would be bad for their party, but if we fail, it would great for them. Yes, that was the democratic party. They wanted nothing more than failure, and now that they are running things, they are going to not follow the course, and just piddle dee dee around and not accomplish nothing but getting all the people wanting us out of there, so that it all can come crashing down, so that they can point their finger and say “Look what Bush did”. I guarantee it. Those are the scumbags that want us to fail. They have, after all, revealed themselves fully.

  • http://personallibertty.com sam

blaming presidents is like blaming kings, which should be practically meaningless in this country; we should first be blaming ourselves for not better-monitoring and then not voting out, our local as well as national representatives for failing to work on what they were voted to do and for politicing instead of being statesmen – politics originated as various verbs, not nouns with their private agendas.

    • Robert

That sounds good, but the leaders we have now are voted in by a massive collection of ignorant, entitlement trained minorities who now collectively are now no longer a minority. They do not think in terms of fiscal, moral, or long term financial responsibility. They have been taught by the Democrat Party that big government fueled by spend and tax mindsets will ‘take care of them’. Unless this mindset and Democrat Party perversion is countered in the next elections, this country is headed for a Zimbabwe status.

      • DaveH

        Robert,
We need to do something about the propaganda schools. Also, we need to get the Federal Government out of the education business.
We need to get rid of the Department of Education; and we need to institute the Voucher system at the local levels so parents can send their kids to schools where they will be educated rather than politicized by the Unionized Teachers.

        • denniso

WHAT are you 2 smoking or drinking?? You’re blaming the dept of ed and democrats for terrorists trying to kill us??you both are really off the edge now..what idiocy you’re spouting!!! 9/11 happened under Bush, screening and the patriot act started under Bush and you want to blame dems for the mess?? It’s not either party’s fault that terrorists are out there, though we could look at specific foreign policy issues over the past 60 yrs for hints about the problem. You guys are really coming off as true nutcases now..but, keep it up and lose any shred of credibility you may have had.

          • American Citizen

The Department of Education in DC is redundant, a totally unnecessary expense. Local Boards of Education know what’s necessary for the students to learn in order to obtain jobs. Here in Indiana they are talking about letting CEO’s of business look at curriculum. Look at we elders who came up with/invented so many things that make life easier these days. There was no Education Dept. in DC back then.

          • DaveH

No, Dumniso, you are the one coming off as the nutcase. Ignorant too. Totalitarian countries throughout the world have used the education system as their tool to propagandize the masses.

          • DaveH

            And Dumniso,
The Saul Alinsky tactics you use only work on Ignorant people like yourself. You’re wasting your time trying to manipulate me with your childish name-calling and ridicule.

          • Earlw

Au contraire, Mon Ami! It is exactly BOTH parties, and their presidents that cause these kinds of terrorists action..You first have to look back at 100 years of history, then start connecting terrorist actions with Government and corporate actions over that time.. No one wants to incur the wrath of another country unless they have been slighted first. Our country has been involved in military actions over that space of time in nearly EVERY COUNTRY on this planet. I don’t know who started the 72 virgins business, but it does seem a bit ridiculous, if not impossible. Stupid is as stupid does, as Gump’s mama said. Most of the time, we went in to defend/enable/colonize/etc., the countries we invaded. Please read some history before saying they hate us just for who we are. We are NOT innocent victims. And lest I be accused of being anti-Semitic, Israel has been the recipient of massive amounts of aid and materiel over the decades, which was used against various countries, including Palestine. supporting a country’s enemies is a reason to retaliate, at least to them. If America wants to stop terrorism, It might start by removing ourselves from approximately 170 countries around the globe and as Teddy Roosevelt said, speak softly and carry a Big STICK!! We cannot afford to and should not be the world’s policemen….

          • JC

            Denniso
As always you just don’t have a clue. Its not about blaming “liberals”. Its just that it sure seems to be the “liberals” who are most easily lead by the nose down a very unAmerican path. And if you don’t think there is an agenda of dumbing down and retraining the nations youth to comply to big government, you’re just not paying attention…at all!

          • jim

Hi Denniso, Bush was in office for less than 9 months when 911 happened and the terrorists that hijacked the planes were in this country for 14 months before it happened. Clinton was in charge then. I wonder what he did to make them so mad?

          • denniso

SO, DaveH…Let’s follow your ‘logic’ here. Since totalitarian countries use the education system to indoctrinate their kids, then no countries should have education systems. Wow, so since evil minded countries use guns to inflict damage on and control their people, then no country should have guns?? Evil countries use television and newspapers to spread their propoganda, then we shouldn’t have those either? What can we have and not be evil??

          • JC

One exterme to the other denniso? That’s normal for you.
How about this, all of those entities you mention, schools, television etc., are only evil when the governments in question are involved. Get the government out of those things and make them accountable…I know, I might as well be talking about blowing up the planet right? What a completely horrifying thought for a statist sheep such as yourself.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

The CEO’s are the worst possible choices to do anything to help Main Street Americans. THEY all get payed the big buck to sit on their worthless duff to dream of ways to take away and skinn the little man making the profits for their stock portfolios and contributors. How many of you are aware that the big three own stock in pornography – house loans – insurance policies on autos – life insuranc policies on workers whom they hope will die so their ayres will receive none of the benefits the policy pays? They do need to be investigated in depth to see they declared all their earnings before they received the stimulus package from the tax payers. I personally would like to see theie sweat shop labors purchase their bounty and keep it all out of our country myself. POETIC JUSTICE FOR THE LITTLE MAN HERE IN THE STATES – And believe me – We will come back and rebuild this great country before all our intelligent builders has crossed over. Come forward children – you still have a lot to learn. You can do it just like your forefathers before you.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

They have done a real good job with our school systems, havent they? Every year its up property taxes to pay for more and more that they continually pay for the schools, yet the education continues to decline. It seems the curriculum they continue to teach, is that which teaches kids to be a school teacher, and nothing else. They are changing the history books to read the way they want them to read, with a total disregard for actual history. They have kicked God out of the schools, and have removed all discipline, where I know for a fact, most of the teachers are now afraid of their students, and there is no respect for the teachers because of this lack of discipline. Of course, most of this comes from the breakdown of the family, and no parent at home to properly raise these kids. We have kids having kids, and our liberal philosophy that caused this, continues to promote it by instead of teaching them to abstain, they tell them to use a rubber and have fun. Its a liberal think tank mess, thats all it is.

          • DaveH

18 years ago my daughter told me that her Political Science teacher lectured that the 2nd Amendment was an obsolete Amendment which didn’t apply anymore. And he said the 4th Amendment didn’t stop police from stopping people randomly to search their car. I told her that the teacher was wrong, and of course she said the teacher would know more than I on Political Science. Ironically, just a year later, the Supreme Court reaffirmed that indeed police couldn’t just search cars randomly.
There is definitely misinformation being taught to our kids in the public schools.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Amen to that brother. They teach what the liberal think tank says, not necessarily what is reality. Most times, the two are two different entities indeed.

          • http://N/A James

Beberoni, your response at this point is the most intelligent, well thought out posting I have read in this entire mess.
I was a career military man as was my grandfather, father, and more lately my son. With thirty years worth of experience I am willing to say that I doubt seriously there are more than perhaps one or two
posting here that were in the service of their country, or have any
idea about what the military is, or does. The ones here who were so cheerfully degrading our countries military sound so much like that
draft dodging, card burning, bunch of traitors that we had to contend with during Vietnam. Anyhow, I am proud to see that there are those like you who actually know what they are talking about.

Robert: Have you ever taught inside a classroom? Have you ever had to deal with 30 different personalities housed in one room for a couple of hours? Until you have, how can you have such an unbiased honest opinion on a subject you know nothing about? Also , teachers payed a lot to get an education to teach but their hands have been tied and bound. The trend now is to prepare each student to pass the state tests that will funnell the big bucks into the system. Yep, money has replaced education.

          • denniso

The push toward more testing was done by Bush..unfortunately Kennedy went along because he thought it meant that schools would get more funding, which didn’t happen. They are teaching way too much just for the testing.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

While the NCLB could have been very productive had it been implemented in a proper manner – but alas it was not. when the beautiful slow special people were thrown into the main stream and have to compete with some of the brightest students , that placed 2 strikes against the little guys from the git go. 1st they could not hope to catch up – therefore they fell through the crack on the first go round. Then Jr Had the adascity to bribe Armstrong Williams to toute and sell it to his audience with our tax dollars and no one but a hand full got angry
Why are we so complacent that we sit back and allow the dirt bags lead us around by the scuff of the neck and we follow like the obedient little curs we are forced to become? We are much smarter tham
n they are.. and for the most part we really do use our brains in a positive manner. It’s up to us to show them that. WE do not need to fear them. They are our employees and we have the right to fire and replace them. Lets have at it.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Come on denniso. If Kennedy had things his way, in his ideal of how things should be, the teachers would have a wet bar in their lounge, and have a couple of martini’s before each class, and give the kiddies a beer at lunch so they could reach Ted’s level of thinking.

          • denniso

Beb…your childish and foolish comment deserves NO responce..

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Dave ; The voucher system will only enable the private schools to shove all the politics down young impressionable throats as the same set of rules do not infrenge in the private sector. Gearge/Cheney knew very well what the NCLB would accomplish – namely taking the power out of the teachers hands so the state can move in ‘confiscate our children., house them through the week ,sent them to mama and papa on weekends. Take them back Sun evening to start again.
Doesn’t that seem to be the way Adolph started out??? Think long and hard brother.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Difference being, in public school, you are taught what the heck they want to teach you, without any choice. In a private school, you find out they are teaching your kid that Its good to have 2 daddies and no mommy is needed, then you pull your kid out and send him to one that had a little more on the ball. In public school your stuck. Then in college it just gets much worse. The liberal professors will intentionally and willfully flunk a student that professes to be a conservative or have Christian values, or if they question the liberal philosophy the professer is trying to ram down their throats. Its a fact, and it happens all the time.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Robert: Don’t forget the same ones who can be voted in can also be voted out. Do you follow through with your endever or do younthink because you done your job by voting at all, make a mistake and let it cruise for years or try to change and correct your mistake.

    • David

Remember you have the re-funded ACORN to deal with….soon our votes won’t matter. But in 2010 I hope we swamp that ship!!

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

David: We lost our vote in the year 2000. We were not even required to go to the polls as votes became provisional and filed in the proper round file. The courts told us who our next president was going to be – like it or lump it – AND NO ONE got angry.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

And ACORN was not the culprit. One party in particular was responsible for the turn of events.

          • denniso

These ranters don’t want to remember,if they ever knew, that it was the Repub party that forced the vote to the mostly conservative supreme court, rather than COUNT the votes in Florida as should have happened. Their should have been major outrage, but of course all the conservatives and ‘believers in freedom and liberty’ loved the decision, since it was in their favor.

          • JC

Doesn’t matter which party did what…itys the system that allows both parties to be so absolutely corrupt that has to change. Or you can waste your time arguing Red and Blue…the joke is still on you.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

JC: It’s up to us to see to it our employees follow our didtates. Are you pulling your share of the weight or or you willing to sit on your lazy duff and let the next guy carry you. Come on now squeek up.

          • JC

What exactly is your point Dee? You have no idea how very active I am in my community in promoting the ideals of Liberty and pointing out the evil that surrounds us. So while your busy assuming things, you might assume that you and you alone are the only one working to put things right. Now squeek OFF!

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

jC ;it matters to me very much. That any party in particular has the power to override my opinion and dictate to whom I WILL have serve as my President. It’s my God given right to decide for myself whom I choose to vote for and my Democratic vote should be shown the respect it deserves — from you or any other so called citizen who respects Democracy.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

If you really believe that, then Al Gore has you hook, line and sinker. What a bunch of mis-information. Are you aware of all the millions of military votes that never got counted, because they didnt need them. I shouldnt have to tell you who those were going to. Al was a sore loser, and he still is, and now that the truth is coming out about his global warming farce, it looks like he is a loser again. By the way, this global warming crap just dumped 2 feet of snow in the upper PI of Michigan in peoples yards. It dumped 8 inches here, and the temperatures have been below normal in Indiana all year. Amazingly, Al has gone into hiding on this, waiting for a warmer year, and he will resurface. What a clown.

  • William

You assume that this incident was a real event; did you ever think it was planned so as to scare the people and reinforce the need for more repressive, controlling rules and such extreme measures as The Patriot Act? Do you believe in any of the “false flag” events, or do you believe most of what the government tells us?

    • Robin from Indiana

William…. Are you serious???? I don’t believe a lot of what the government says, but to say this was planned by someone within our own government for the purpose of regulating our lives even more than they do is insane!

We need to get rid of those who think ‘politically correct’ and focus on profiling those who seek to do harm. If I were a farmer and my animals were being killed by another animal, I wouldn’t sit and watch to see what the cats or ducks were doing. I would turn my attention to what would be the most likely to attack and kill my animals. It doesn’t take a giant brain to figure that out!

      • Norm

        Robin from Indiana
        Amen.
Ever since 9/11 we have been wasteing resources on the wrong things.
Has spending nearly a trillion dollars (of borrowed money) in Iraq and Afghanastan made us any safer? If a fraction of that amount was used to increase our intel capabilities and to exercise “surgical” strikes where needed we would be far better off than we now are. The underwear bomber should been identified and descreetly killed before he ever got near a plane.
This notion the the Iraq war is a done deal is nonsense. We still have over 100K military and God knows how many contractors on the ground. Too boot, Iraq was never the problem!

As far as increased security at airports, I’m for whatever works. If it takes body scans – I’m for it. If you are are so ashamed of the body that God gave you, that you would rather risk death than be inspected, I feel very sorry for you. Stay away from airports and hospitals as well.

        • American Citizen

I think everyone is forgetting that the underwear bomber boarded the plane in a foreign country where we have no say as to who gets on the plane. All those European countries need to get on board and realize they also are in danger from the extremists. They, too, are reacting to events instead of being proactive. Also, countries need to share those watch lists and pay attention to them. The only thing is, they don’t even have to get on the plane. They could just put a bag containing a bomb on a cart that’s going on the plane. There are ways of concealing a bomb or of making a kind of bomb that won’t be detected by those machines. You won’t find me flying anywhere. Got no reason to.

        • American Citizen

As for those scanners, I’m with you. They say they don’t show a clear outline of body parts anyway. I you have to go to the hospital as a patient, say goodbye to privacy. They own your body as you’ve turned it over to them. But you are usually feeling so bad, you don’t care anyway.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

For once Norm, I agree with you about airport screening. So what if someone sees my body in a computerized image. Big deal. If its going to keep my plane from getting blown up, its a great thing. However, I remember reading your posts totally lambasting Bush and Cheny about the war thing, you know, all the spending and such on it. But now that Obama is escalating it, and not responding to direction requests from the generals, why dont I hear you lambasting the democrats as war mongers and running an illegal war like you did when you were pointing the finger at Bush? Whats up with that? Im just wondering.

          • JimBob

FYI, not only don’t you spell it right, you don’t know what a warmonger is. A warmonger is somebody who is eager for war or tries to start a war. Look it up!

Obama is cleaning after the ignorant warmonger who preceded him as president. Bush the Ignorant started the war in Afghanistan and didn’t finish it. Instead he ran off to Iraq to settle a score for his daddy. Knowing that the Republicans had no chance of winning the 2008 election, he ignored Afghanistan intentionally to leave a big mess for the Democrats to clean up. Do you get it now?

Contrary to the dumb statement that you made, Obama IS escalating the war in Afghanistan following “direction requests” (whatever that means) from the generals. With you radicals on the right, Obama can’t win! You only have one agenda, and that is to tear down this country that was made great by presidents like Jefferson, Madison, Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Clinton and now Obama, who were/are members of the only respectable American political party, the Democrat Party, the “party of the common man.”

          • David

JimBob, you are a nut. Have another shot, it’s Friday. Your president and his little friends are doing their best to crush our economy. Yes we spent too much on the war but he has nothing to even show for the trillions he is spending! Please don’t tell obama what comes after trillion!

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

To Billy Jim Bob: Hey Bub, warmonger or war monger. Does it really matter? But to clarify the point you are trying to make. Bill Clinton stood on TV and said Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction and has to be stopped. John Kerry stood on TV and said it, as did Howard Dean, as did Hillary Clinton, as did Ted Kennedy, and many many more of your left wing heroes. They even did it before Bush was a president. So they all vote to go to war, and here comes you, like it was Bush’s idea and his idea alone. Do you know how stupid that makes you sound? I mean they cried that Saddam Hussein had to be stopped before Bush was even a candidate for President. Maybe instead of pointing out that war monger or warmonger makes a difference, you should first learn the facts before you open your mouth and insert your foot. You are a typical liberal. You let your alligator mouth get in front of your butterfly ass.

          • cr747

JimBob, you are a completely off you rocker. I happen to be a democrat, and as I have said many times before, I DID NOT VOTE FOR A SINGLE DEMOCRAT THAT IS IN OFFICE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!! Also I will not vote for the idiots that are running our country down the drain, and starving our elderly by not giving them their cost of living raise the first time in over 30 years. Thanks to all the ones, and the so called president in Washington; They said,”and I quote,” 2008 resulted in a 5.8 percent increase for benefits in 2009,”thanks to Bush,”-the largest since 1982. This year, however, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported a significant decrease in the cost of many goods and services,’quote”. But it is funny to me that out GOVERNMENT can vote them selves a raise, but cannot give our elderly a COLA raise.
I do know for a fact that the cost of medication increased in 2009, and they tell the elderly sorry, no COST OF LIVING RAISE. BS.
Our seniors are having to decide over medication or food!!!!!! What a damn shame. I am reading this from a letter received by an elderly person, that was sent to them by their senator from Washington, UNITED STATES SENATE.
You want to stand there with the audacity to say the DEMOCRATS that are running the GOVERNMENT in Washington need to be applauded!!!!!!!! Please, Give The Seniors A Break!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Norm

I don’t like the wars any more now than I did under Bush/Cheney. The problem is it’s easier to start a war than it is to end one.
The myth that all is well in Iraq is favorite mantra of the neocons. I believe the corrupt government in Bagdad will fall within six months of US departure. What will replace it is probably going to be a Sheite Muslim religious dictatership.

          • denniso

Yes, another lovely and lasting gift from the recently departed Bush/Cheny team, 2 unfinished wars, one that should have never been started. How is it that the genius chickenhawk Cheny couldn’t focus on Afghanistan and finish it after 7 yrs?? Yep, perpetual war. If we leave and it goes to holy hell then Obama gets the blame..no win at this point.

        • DaveH

At last there’s something I can agree with you about Norm.

All that is except your last paragraph. The body scanners probably wouldn’t have detected the explosives anyway. See this video:
          http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=9439628

Many people do care about a bunch of ATA officers ogling their body parts.

          • http://N/A James

Something caught my eye on the Intenet today. Someone suggested that
we should develop a “Body Scanner Booth” that would, rather than detect explosives on a body, set the explosives off while contained within the booth, causing no damage to material or personnel other than the terrorist him/her self.

            Personally, I think it’s a great idea. . . . . .

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

AMEN to that Norm. We really do weld a lot of power if we would only learn to work together toward a commom goal to benefit all.

Robin, hate to rain on someone’s parade, but just for the record, the NSA, CIA, and other such Intel agencies such as Britain’s MI5 knew about this guy for THREE years, yet didn’t put him on a no fly list EVEN after His father, a well known banker said the felt that his son was falling in with a bad crowd, and was attending terrorist meeting, etc. If that isn’t a reason to question a false flag or conspiracy by elements within gov’t., I don’t know what is!

    • Michael J.

I don’t buy the false flag theory, perpatratated by the Obama camp anyway. They would have used a white G.I. who recently completed a tour of duty. Not a black guy who is Muslim. The negative implications for Obama should be obvious.

    • American Citizen

William, tell that to the guy hospitalized with serious burns. I don’t feel sorry for him as he brought the pain on himself. I just had an oven burn on my hand a little while back an it hurt for days.

When you get angry you have already lost the battle. BE SMART.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

William: No I do not care to think the people were ever in fear. I feel they were angry that the ones who thought they were so powerful they could just keep on shovibg their way to the front of the line and play little dictator for a little longer. Which they did and were defeated for their little folly in the most bitter and hateful way. To even begin to fatham an intelligent BLACK man upstaged them all. Oh the shame of it all. They hood winked the uneducated, the young and the restless, and bought an election with marketing. But the problem is, now that they are there, holy crap man, what a mess of things they have made, and it keeps getting worse, and they keep blaming it on someone else. JC ; My mother was a subststute teacher in a one room school house in Thorn Hill Tenn around the 1900,s I have two daughters who are now school teachers. Teachers get blamed for everything the parents the student do or do not do and throw the administration in for good mix who do nothing but delegate their responsibility to all there many substutes to do all the the work for them. All the parents are good for is to keep funneling the unconstituential property tax money into the system for the administration to unaccountably waste on everything except what it was intended to be used for. Does anyone realize how much money schools make at sport gate receipts, rentals of the stages for plays, rentals of roomd for various activities? I doubt very much many parents take any action what-so- ever to even try to learn anything about what is truly taking place in their community – let alone getting involved to correct some wrongs. I doubt many parents will ever be willing to admit they may have on a few occasions dipped into the school resources themselves and did not consider it a theft.

I agree with the former head of American Airlines when he said that you want to have a “knowledgeable Airlines person” in charge of Airline Security, not another government idiot without any experience!

The White House still is not serious in fighting Jacob’s half-brother in this terrorism war! One would think that our President was raised in Islam until about age 13 years old or so! I will not mention that about 97 1/2 % of all faiths are in cement by age 13 years old! Oops!

  • Robert

Muslim Islamic Killers (I no longer use the term ‘terrorist’) by far kill more Muslims than they do Westerners

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Which proves how sick they are.

      • Claire

Yeah, Islams kill Muslims and vice versa. Sick is the word for it.

    • http://N/A James

Well that’s not surprising. During WWI, more American citizens were killed at home, than soldiers in France. The same percentages held true during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
American civilian stupidity and the automobine is more dangerous than
any shooting enemy we have ever faced.

  • StargazerInSavannah

I anticipate that the president will soon find it convenient to name one of the GITMO detainees from Yemen to be the new head of TSA. While announcing the appointment, he will be able to laud the intimate knowledge the appointee has with Jihad. The appointee can help train Brennan and Janet Incompetana in targeting techniques for Overseas Contingency Operations.
The administration will be able to substantially reduce carbon emissions by integrating Jihad into the TSA operation. I trust that new TSA employees will wear purple underwear with crotch pockets while undergoing training.

    • Michael J.

Right, and when Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab has been cleared of all charges by Eric Holder, he will likely become the new spokesperson for Fruit of the Loom.

  • cerebus23

This is why the TSA should have never been created and like bush wanted it should have been private security firms that handled the security.

Private firms would actually screen and hire qualified people and train them. No private firm would want to be responsible for allowing something like this to happen. They would go out of business if they left a terrorist on a plane and people died.

But no democrats pushed to federalize the whole system insuring another giant federal spending program that is unionized like all federal agencies.

I guarantee that if private firms were handling security that no terrorist would be able to recreate the entire chain of events that this guy pulled off, and just walk onto a plane.

I also wonder if we are back to the clinton era where the cia and fbi and nsa were ordered that they could not share information period. A order that greatly aided terrorists to get into this country. We are surely back to the clinton era where we want to treat terrorists and foreign combatants as common criminals, and disasterous decision that revealed our intelligence gathering methods to bin laden and pals and let them drop off the radar.

    • http://mi_goe@yahoogroups.com NamFrank

The habitual turf wars and refusal to equitably share agency intelligence was the very reason for forming the Dept of Homeland (In)Security and having “Janet-from-another-Planet” to head it. Her PUBLIC ignorance of her own agency (“the system worked”) speaks VOLUMES about how efficient this highly expensive, totally ineffectual government boondoggle is. Years down the road, billions of dollars later and inestimatable amounts of humiliation heaped upon it’s own citizens and we’re at the same place we were on 09/10/01!
You’ll also notice AG “Bro Holder” had this son of a millionaire banker “lawyered up” (at the American taxpayer’s expense, of course!) shortly after his apprehension! We can’t have an illegal combatant actually convicted of terrorism before we give the FOREIGNER American constitutional rights and avail him an opprotunity to expose our terrorism prevention sectrets! Way to go, Bro Holder and BS!!!

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dont forget, about the intelligence agencies, that Clinton cut them in half, leaving them pretty helpless, which let the murdering muslim bastards set up and pull off 9-11 because Clinton was saving that money and the cutting of the military in half money, to balance the budget with smoke and mirrors.

Want to hear something stupid? Illinois took $300,000 of their stimulus money to build a bike trail in Springfield. What a farce. This state is so bad off and yet they continue to make bad, bad choices. But of course, I am not surprised. Same old story.

The power of marketing over the blind consumer, who believes what he sees on TV and reads in the papers. Gee, maybe if we actually had responsible TV and newspaper reports, that actually did their job, and actually investigated things and reported things as they really are, and not use their left wing liberal biased agenda on everything, then maybe the blind uneducated minority groups and the youths wouldnt have been swayed by these very liberal newspaper and TV reporters, to vote the way they did. Thanks NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and MSNBC. You bear a lot of the guilt in this, for your attacking Bush, and not inquiring into Obama. You failed to do your job, and now we all are paying for it.

Thats because the media is owned by the Democrats.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Beberoni: Murdock is a Republican. He owns Fauxx noise and a new york paper and a washingtom paper
Disney family are Republicans who is the parent company to ABC (I think)
Cox is a Republican rag who owns Middletown Journal and Dayton Daily News (Ohio Papers).
The Republican party also owns and operates schools of journalism throughout all of America. Very little investigative journalism going on. So now the big question——- WHO CONTROLS THE NEWS? What news??
Would propaganda be a more fitting word? We hear only what they want us to hear and we fall for it – hook – line and sinker. Yep – One born every minute.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Nope, only Murdoch and Fox News give the truth, unbiased, and actually report and let me decided. They actually let the democrats come on and give their point of view. Dont see that happening on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, which I noticed you failed to mention all except ABC. And the newspaper you mentioned? Come on man. Lets talk L.A. I think Napolitano should be fired. Isn’t she the one who claimed that returning military, Christians, protestors against outrageous policies be considered terrorists? She is the one that said the system worked. The government is making us unsafe and all those left wing lawsuit crazed maniacs that help contribute to this ridiculous system in place.

I’ve noticed that there are front men testing on every airline – can they get through, how far can they push things while on flights, like staying in bathrooms, claiming stomach aches, using their cell phones well have requested to turn them off. I’ve seen it first hand on each flight I’ve been on lately. A group of garbed middle-eastern men stood by the bathroom on a flight bound for London from Chicago while claiming one of their party had a stomach ache. I’ve seen it first hand when on a recent flight a middle-eastern man stayed on his cell phone after being requested by the flight attendant to turn it off. It wasn’t until another passenger turned around and commanded that he comply that he listened. If this isn’t testing our system of inadequacies, I don’t know what is. They are scoping it out at every turn. If we want to be safe, our government better catch on that we are being infiltrated on every flight and tested and evaluated in every way!

  • DaveH

I want to say, on this issue, I don’t blame Obama. No man can provide complete safety to our citizens. They can’t even stop prisoners from making weapons and killing other prisoners. How could they possibly stop determined killers in Society (even in a heavily suppressed society)?
It has been well documented that the countries with the best economies have the least crime. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why. So, impoverishing our country with ever-increasing regulations and laws is not the answer.

          • denniso

Airplanes are inherently vulnerable to attack..so complex and essentially fragile. Despite their good safety record, if a terrorist wants to die in a plane explosion, there are so many ways to accomplish it, it’s not funny.I’m more than amazed that there haven’t been more attempts and successes. I think one thing the low number of attempts illustrates is that the terrorist threat is overblown, as it often was under Bush for political reasons.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dave never said anything about Bush and Katrina, at least its not on the threads Im reading here. As far as the left goes, they are a clueless lot who cares about nothing but satisfying their own bloodthirst for wealth and power. Those that vote for them, are uneducated and dont know this.

Michael: Bush could not have stopped anything, but just maybe if he had been willing to listen he just maybe have helped it to not be so devestating on such a large scale and when the sunomie did hit maybe if he had acted a little faster it might not have been so devestating to so many in such a short time. Even the house trailers they delivered to the scenes were so laced with formaldahide it was killing people and making many sick. Did anyone place any value on even one life?? Me thinks not. Oh the price that will be payed.

        • Michael J.

DeeD, this is really starting to get off subject but since you brought it up, why did the “Liar, liar pants on fire” media gloss over the fact that the first responders, the mayor of N.O. and the Gov. of L.A.who completely dropped the ball by not preparing for the eminate disaster were both Democrats. For example, the mayor had access to hundreds of school buses which could have been utilized to evacuate people to safety. His lame excuse was a lack of qualified drivers. Typical liberal response now that i think of it though. It’s a wonder he didn’t bow to the hurricane or offer it a bribe.

That is due to deregulaions. That is not only the Manufactured homes, but food industries as well. They take Chromium, trace minerals and natural nutrients out of the soil. They while back found unsafe levals of mercury and other heavy metals in the fields our farmers used to plant their crops. They spray these fields with poisonous pestisides that are illegal in Europe. When the produce reaches its destination, they start putting preservatives and dangerous chemicals into our foods. These are link to Type 2 diabetes, certain types of Cancer, autism, early alzheimers and other mental disorders.A woman that cleans our house, said she and her husband went to Mexico and his sugar drop down so fast after eating and taking his medication. He was a type 2 diabetic.I do believe its the food we eat.Its unsafe and can cause alot of health probllems.I lay all of this on the shoulders of Ronald Reagan,GeorgeSr,George BushJr and Dick Chaney. They are champions of deregulation of the food industries. Here are the chemicals or preservatives found in our foods.

Here are some of the ingredients

          1:Aluminum compounds
          2:arsenic
          3:artificial colors and flavors
          4: artificial sweetners

In concentrations these chemicals can harmful or deadly.

Coal Minor: There was a young school girl who decided to conduct a test for science. She setup two plants side by side. She fed one plant water straight from the faucet and she boiled the water for the second plant in the microwave oven – allowing it to cool before watering her plant. After 2 weeks the plant watered with tap water was growing strong and healthy and the other plant was kind of in limbo. Not much growth nor improvement. They came to the conclusion the radar waves from the microwave oven was killing all nutrients in the water and was not assisting in the growth process. Moral : All in the name of progress does not mean we are progressing. There just is no replacement for common sense, is there? Try this at home folks and see if results are the same>

Gee Dee, like maybe if Mayor Ray Nagin would have mobilized all those buses that he was told to get going, a lot of people could have got out and been saved, and someone you all blame that on Bush. Do you not think that these local politicians, who are right there, are elected by the people to SERVE them, could have for one minute been an adult and mobilized and done something? Why should George Bush have to come and wipe their butt for them? It was time for Mayor Nagin and Mary Landrieu and the rest of them to step up and get it done, but they did nothing, but stand there on their high perch, and call Bush a racist and blame him. Let me tell you something, I was down there on missions 3 times. I was there right after it happened. I watched the TV coverage. There wasnt a whole lot anybody could do at first, since all these people either didnt want to leave and got stuck in harms way, or Mayor Nagin’s inability to be a leader and get those buses running and pick these people up and get them out of there, but until the water went down, there was nothing to be done. I mean what are you gonna do against water 10 feet deep? You cant just push it back, youve got to wait until it drains. I really dont know what else you expected Bush, or anyone else to do? You cant fight mother nature, you just try to survive it.

          • libertytrain

Dee is perhaps not aware that the President couldn’t just send aid without the Governor first requesting it – (something to do with the Constitution – huh?) The democratic Governor, when asked if she wanted Fed. Assistance by President Bush – said “not today” – then when the whole thing really exploded the next day – when the water wasn’t holding and the city was flooding and people were dying – She then thought perhaps she ought to ask for help. But who got blamed? President Bush – not the idiotic Governor that turned down Federal Assistance – and that ridiculous Mayor should have been tarred and feathered for the unbelievable failure to use all those buses since many or most of his citizens didn’t have the luxury of cars to escape the city. The Governor as well as the Mayor were just two shining examples of stupid, egotistical politicians.

DaveH and Beberoni, For a couple of smart guys, this one went right over your head. Dave you started your comment with”I don’t blame Obama for this”. Well you are certainly a lot more generous than the lefties who blaimed Bush for everything including hurricanes. And those who sought to have a Senator censured for calling Obama a liar said nothing when Time magazine did a cover which claimed the same thing about Bush. So go ahead, let Obama off the hook for this if you like but I will not. After cutting the legs out from under the CIA by placing his lapdog Penetta as boss and now having them do Global Warming research just to keep them busy and out of his way. Then installing a governor with no security experience as head of homeland security and probably many more reasons that don’t come to mind at the moment, yes, I beleive he is to blame as he has admitted himself for this and the other two events which have happened in the last six months.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yes sir, it did indeed go right over my head. And on that global warming thing, it just dumped like 2 feet of snow on the upper P.I. in Michigan, and 8 inches here in Northern Indiana. We all need to go buy some Hummers and Escalades, and fire those suckers up, and burn a big hole in the ozone and warm this sucker up down here. This damn global warming is making it colder all the time. The stinking ice caps are getting bigger, the planet has cooled since the 70′s, and this global warming is making me freeze. It was only 8 degree’s here last night.

This is totally off the topic, but in reference to your “Global Warming” statement. I’m in SE Tennessee & it was 10 degrees here last night. It’s been below freezing here for over a week, Only had about an inch of snow on Friday even tho it snowed all day, but it was so cold & dry it evaporated before it reached the ground. The past several years have been comfortable even in July & Aug. When I was growing up, we saw lots of days over 100 in both months. For several years, August has been like September used to be. I’m sure that’s a real disappointment to the biggest embarrassment to my state (as I said in another comment), Al the-Earth’s-temperature-is-a-million-degrees Gore! Stay warm!

        • denniso

Dave and I agree…the president can and should set workable policies to deal w/ threats and take a comprehensive view of a complex problem. Terrorism is never solved by force alone..but if a president is taking reasonable steps to deal w/ it, then he/she can’t be blamed for a determined extremist, foreign or not.

        • Michael J.

DaveH, What’s it going to take, a fourth or fifth attack by Muslim terrorist? Obama himself said “The Buck Stops Here”. Why should Obama get a pass from the LSM when he freely admits responsibilty? The same LSM blamed Bush for hurricanes! Now I ask you, Can a president stop or deter a Hurricane. I think not. It would be like trying to stop an asteroid with a B-B gun.

          • DaveH

            Michael,
I don’t care if it’s Bush, Obama, Clinton, or whoever else. They can’t stop determined killers. How many times do these people have to slip through the cracks before Americans wake up to that fact?
And the one thing that can possibly save our lives (self-protection) is constantly under attack by people from both parties, although for sure it’s mostly Democrats.

          • DaveH

The best defense is a good offense. For instance, upon determining that Afghanistan was training the 9/11 perps, we should have gone in there and killed 3 times as many of them as they took in the towers attack. And then get out. We wouldn’t have to do that too many times before they got the message and left us alone.
When we do catch them, what do we do? Nothing much more than a long-time dog and pony show. For instance, I agree with many that the underwear bomber should be tried in a fair trial. But once convicted, we should first extract any information about who helped him, and then execute him immediately after.

Dee D, where have you been getting your information? Are you the same Dee D as before? Great day in the morning. I’m worried about you!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Claire

DaveH–” no man can provide complete safety for the citizens.” Truer words were never spoken.

  • Warrior

Within 6 months we will be giving the airlines bailouts. This scheme of information sharing between government agencies is on ongoing nightmare. Place airport security under FBI or NSA only.

  • Farmer

Human Events magazine, a weekly conservative publication, has named former Vice President Dick Cheney ‘Conservative of the Year’.

    Can you believe it?!?

He’s been pushing more and more of this type of “security”.

    He’s endorsing his daughter’s extremely anti-social lifestyle…

And is the conservative of the year… named by Human Events… isn’t this publication dominated by “conservative” whore Ann Coulter and the likes?

    • Norm

      Farmer
Of all people in government, regardless of party, I truely believe that Dick Cheney is the worst. The man is evil, self serving, paranoid, cowardly, and a traitor to the United States.

      • Warrior

Your desciption fits Obama to a tee! How do you explain that.

        • Norm

I can’t explain it because its BS. Can you?

          • denniso

The phrase I remember from rightwingers here is ‘feeding at the public trough’…does that apply to Cheny for most of his life or maybe not, because he’s a repub???

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I believe he has served this country in a far more positive way than you will ever serve it Norm, so your opinion is that, just your opinion, and it doesnt hold much water with those of us that are educated. Thank you very much sir, have a good day.

        • Norm

          Beberoni
And your opinion is yours. What education are you referring to? Hate radio and fux news?

          • Claire

Poissibly Cheney is going to throw his hat in the ring for the Presidency?

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

While Dick Cheny has served the public and kept us safe along with George W. Bush, while constantly being under left wing liberal media scrutiny, you have sat there, with all your skeletons still in your closet, spewing your opinion all over. Its not my opinion, or Fox News. Have you been safe or not? I have. Now that will end in another year or so, as these jackasses running the show are sleeping at the helm, just as their predecessor hero Bill Clinton did, and the terrorists will again set up shop. Under Bush though pal, seriously, homeland security was on the ball. Your democratic liberals have forgotten about 9-11, infact, they have forgotten so much, that they insist on giving lawyers to these new terrorists that have gotten caught trying to kill us. They release them, then catch them again. How stupid can they be? They will cause another stike to happen, and good luck blaming that on Bush/Cheney. You need to wake up Norm.

          • Norm

            Beberoni
It seems to me that the “shoe bomber” and 9/11 occurred under the watchful eyes of Bush/Cheney.
Because no major attacks occurred (other than the above) does not prove very much. An outbreak of the black plague also did not occur. Did Cheney prevent it. Your logic is flawed. Are we more or less safe under Obama? I’d guess it’s probably about the same since not much has changed in that area.

For a rightwinger, who hates all government intervention, I’m very surprised you would want more big brother protection, and would endorse suspension of civil liberties as a guise to save your butt.

The draft dodger Cheney and his friends at Haliburton made a small fortune in taxpayer money in their no-bid “secret” contracts. Also, revealing the name of a CIA operative is an act of treason. Constantly harrassing and abusing a sitting president in time of war(war by Cheney’s own definition) falls into the area of aiding and abetting an enemy of the US. The man is an insult to all this country stands for.

        • Claire

          I meant “possibly.” !!!!!1

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Cheney is too old to run Claire, you know that. And America is sick of career politicians, as many of them are going out on their ear these next two elections in 2010 and 2012, and rightfully so. But what a credit he is next to the VP we have now. Joe Biden? Come on man, has there ever in the history of this land, be a more laughable guy holding that office? Unbelievable.

          • Claire

A vast majority of them are too old. I can’t for the life of me think of any totally honest politician that will be running this year or in 2012. Once they get in office, watch how fast they become like all the rest of them. Watch how fast they cave in to the lobbyists, to the insurance companies, to the pharmaceutical companies, to the banks, to the big corporations, to Wall Street. All for the sake of campaign money. Some things never change. I am going to walk the middle of the road, however, I think a third party is in order. A good, solid, stable, and known person must run for the third party. If we all are so disgruntled with the Dems and the Repubs, why not vote for a third party? That would be an eye opener. This could very well be the way to go.

          • Norm

            Claire
Check Cheney’s popularity poll numbers. They’re less than 25% and some blue states in the single digits. He coulden’t get elected dog catcher.

          • Claire

Norm–I wouldn’t want him to be dogcatcher. I just want him to go away.

          • denniso

Cheny is a control freak and he can’t give it up, that’s why he’s still screeching and preaching fear…he won’t even be alive in 3 yrs, let alone run for prez.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

BeBE: Pray reveal the secret. How can one serve when they are so busy hopping to stay ahead of the draft? Jr and Cheney had it down to a perfect pattern. When the dogs got close they went on the campaign trail that daddy’s and his friends money put into place to hide there whereabouts. Maybe they hid out in the casket whenever the baskerville hounds got to close ehh.?

          • cr747

Dee D, sorry to inform you but Bush Jr. served his country. I know that for a fact. I served twenty two years as a fighter pilot!!!!!!! Most of it in Vietnam. So sorry to inform you dear but you are wrong about Bush Jr.!!!!!!!

I flew to Louisville, Ky. Monday for a short court date that I was representing a guy there. Just flew in about eight o’clock central tonight. Got a little behind on commenting!!!!!!!

Sorry you have been sick. Hope you are feeling better.

  • TeresaE

What gets me the most is that all these additional rules, laws, regulations, indignities and utter bs, are being implemented WITHIN our borders.

Seems to me that all the attempts have been on flights originating OUTSIDE our borders.

Tell me again how losing more of my Constitutional freedoms is making me safe?

Deflect, pretend and extend. This is what our country has been reduced to. Until the next event.

    • DaveH

I agree TeresaE. It is all an illusion to placate the masses. The only positive thing about the way they are trampling our Constitution is that I don’t really care anymore if I live or die.

We have gone from a Nation of Rugged Pioneers to a Nation of Crybabies in just a little over 200 years.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I believe this is a result, of those in power, thinking too highly of themselves, and think they are both better than us, and better than those that first drafted the constitution. Whereas those that drafted the United States Constitution, had meetings and gathered their minds to draft something that would be of benefit to all of us, to keep us on the right track. Then those today, they think of themselves as the ones who should tell us what is and what isnt, and what to do and what not to do, to benefit themselves solely. Its not supposed to be that way. This “me-ism” is killing us.

  • AnhydrousBob

Not only should we have private security, we need the government out of it completely. The airlines should be responsible for their own security. Their very reputation will be on the line – bad reputation means they will not be in business long. El Al has a great reputation for security (of course, they may be publicly subsidized, but that is NOT what I am advocating)

How easy is it to get something on the airplanes? I made several trips last year flying from small airports (which in my opinion tend to be more diligent and friendly) and the busiest airport in the world and only later discovered a small tube of toothpaste in my carry on I didn’t know was there – and neither did they.

    • denniso

Airlines can’t afford their own security, they’d only go broke that much faster..gov’t provided security is just another subsidy to keep the airlines in biz because it’s in the national interest to have an industry that is very important to our military capability. I guess the righties would like to do away w/ that gov’t subsidy too.

      • Michael J.

Denniso, That’s just another load of bovine excrement. Airlines are going under as a result of security regulations, inflated fuel prices from Obama’s upcoming cap and tax swindle and a few pamper top disgruntled middle easterners. Air lines could become much more efficient if allowed to handle their own security by subbing the work out to private security agencies.

  • Tim

This entire administration is a reflection of the inexperience that everyone initially said about candidate Obama. We now have a 24/7 amateur show, that only reacts, then has to clarify what they said the day before, and the day before that. Combine the on-the-job-training antics of the administration along with the bumbling Reid/Pelosi shows, DC and the U.S. has become a joke to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, a lot of people will be killed and injured because of this, when Bin Laden and the boys finally pull one off.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And you can bet while these guys are all collaborating around, trying to see how much crap they can pull to benefit themselves, the enemy is once again setting up shop to blow up something else. Its just like when Clinton was president. He didnt care about our security, just getting what ever he wanted, and while asleep at the wheel, the terrorists set up 9-11, undetected, and you can bet that this bunch is also asleep at the wheel, because getting their way and doing what they want to do is more important to any democrat, than it is to do what is right for the country. It happens everytime one of them is in power.

  • Anne

William is right on the money. Think about it. Put the pieces together. William’s thinking is not insane at all.

Isn’t it just a little strange that all these “events” happen at a time when ‘they’ are trying to convince us we need all this “protection” and “security”.

We had all better wake up to what they are doing in our schools – what they are teaching our children. One thing distracts us from another. When there is a big event, we had better look at what else is going on.

I may be paranoid – but that doesn’t mean I’m wrong. In this world – you had better be paranoid. Sad, but true.

Massachusetts is about to vote (are there any real elections anymore?) in their next senator. Scott Brown said he can prevent this health-care fiasco from going through, all by himself. He always speaks of our Constitution and how we need to get back to living by it. He is conservative and can get this liberal state back to more conservative values and maybe other states would follow. Maybe it can be a start? I know he is not in favor of this hogwash at the airports.

Get these yahoos out of the U.S.A. and close our borders. The goons in government want them here. We are losing our country.

  • Keith

I a sorry but as a recent retired pilot, Mr. Wood doesn’t know what he is talking about when it comes to flight crews (pilots & Flight Attendants). These folks are scrutinized just as the joe public before they are allowed on the airplane. I can speak that I went through as many airport screenings as the public. As a flight crew, we enter the same entrance as everyone else most of the time.

Privatized security may have been the answer, but before 911 slot of the security was done by private companies. I don’t really have the answer but keep in mind if a burglar wants in to steal something, he/she will find or attempt anything to get that diamond (US). We need better security personnel I agree but also the training and objectives must continually be adjusted. TSA really has a daunting task give them some credit. They are given the circumstances most of the time saving our flights from real terror. We need good sound ideas not just throwing mud at the situation.

    • DaveH

I don’t think anybody here blames TSA. The question is Can they really protect us? I don’t believe they can. And even if they could the terrorists will just take their action elsewhere in the country.
And as Government confiscates more of our money to provide the illusion of security, the resulting impoverishment of the US will lead to more violence, not less.

Big Government is not the Solution, it is the Problem.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are correct Dave, about the impoverished statement. The more government grows and taxes, the more people get on the government dole, the more people get poor, and the more criminals get bred. I mean heck man, Im a Christian and a law abiding citizen, but if they continue to keep taking and taking from me, and taxing business to where someday I lose my job, and I cant find one, because all the business’s are closing down due to taxation, then guess what? Ive got to eat. Ill have to take something from somewhere to eat, because when it gets real bad, the human instinct to survive kicks in. With some, its kicked in allready, because even though there are jobs now, they dont want to work. They have become dependant on the government, and when that stops becoming enough for them, or the benefits run out, they steal and rob to get their alcohol and drug money. The more the government grows, the more the private sector shrinks, the less jobs there are, the more poor impoverished people there are, therefore, more crime. Its just a fact. Government needs to be smaller, and it needs to be smaller now.

        • DaveH

          Beberoni,
My father used to tell me that if we didn’t support them on welfare they would steal from us. I told him about the Brinks robbery which was commited by welfare recipients.
The truth is that by giving them easy money, they have more time to plot their crimes.

      • JC

They don’t have to kill us Dave…they just have to break us. And it seems like the White House is in on the plan doesn’t it?

  • Merl Elton

How long is it going to take Obama to get it? We cannot afford to wussyfoot when dealing with people who are determined to kill us. How long will innocent lives be endangered due to politics and idealology.
It is human nature to want to appease our enemies; and rather sad to know that we just cannot be friends with everyone. However, we should never forget that our enemies do not think the way we do; do not cherish the same laws, values, sentiments and beliefs; and do not care about what happens to them or us; because they are driven by religious lunacy and zealotry. In fact, our enemies become heros when they kill us. Obama needs to remember this and formulate his security policies to deal with very determined, powerful, well organized, creative, and intelligent enemies who will stop at nothing; and indeed, who will use the worst atrocities against us to advance their cause. The act of trying to appease or befriend people or personalities like this only infuriates them and encourages them to use your largess to their gain and your loss; because enemies think you are not respecting them, their cause and their values. In war, the only enemies respect is artfulness, animal like stealth, quickness, and brutality. The government is not up to this job because it is too large and cumbersome and too many opinions must be resolved and politics always prevails and dilutes any real potency of strategy. No, the government should also contract out professional warriors; use double agents from the Muslim community; and go into Black Ops in order to obtain the stealth, intelligence, and creativity that the government cannot muster due to its various constraints. Also, those on terror Watch Lists should not be allowed to fly. There is no other way.

    • Raggs

I’m just wondering if he has a soft spot for Muslim’s?
You know since he is one.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Obama doesnt care. He has no ideas or plans. He is not a leader. He is the fugure head, and does what his party tells him to. And being a muslim, he is quick not to go against them, and I believe he does seek to empower them in this country. But he himself can do nothing, unless all his democratic cronies say “lets do it”, then they go behind closed doors and do their dirty deeds. I thought him and Pelosi said this was going to be a “transparent” administration? Dirty rotten stinking left wing liberal liars.

      • Raggs

        You forgot SCUM…

    • Michael J.

Merl, It’s not that he does’nt get it. It’s that his agenda is different. It has never been his intention to repair the economy but instead to tear it down. It has never been his intention to defeat terrorism, but intead to befriend Muslim’s world wide in order to to eventually receive their endorsement to become the U.N. Secretary General. Being POTUS is just a stepping stone to him.

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

Stopping potential terrorists is simple – just stop all this politically correct BS!! Just call them what they are – terrorists!! Target terrorists, not tea-partiers or mainstream American citizens like us!! Fire Napolitano and other incompetent idiots in the administration. QUIT blaming Bush and Cheney, who’ve been out of office nearly a year. (Remember that Bush/Cheney DID keep us safe after 9/11/01, and BHO is proving to be an American traitor and weak leader when it comes to national defense and security.) And stop mirandizing terrorists!! The terrorists gave up there rights when they committed their violent acts against America!! JUST SAY NO TO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!! Need I say more??

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

When your on the left, its always going to be the fault of Bush-Cheney-Haliburton and someone else, because they never will take responsibility for what they do. Its always someone else’s fault. They need to point a finger, because thats all they got.

      • Claire

The right blames the left and the left blames the right. Cat and mouse game. Back and forth, back and forth. Where it will stop, nobody knows. United we stand, divided we fall. Realistically, ALL politicians are at fault. They all had their chance to do good, and both parties failed at one thing or another. They are not perfect and it is unrealistic to think they are but geez, don’t you just wish for once, we could at least elect people that would do a good, honest and sincere job???!!! A third pary sounds better and better to me all the time.

        • Claire

Sounds like Michael Steele has gotten himself into a bit of hot water with his fellow Republicans.

  • Raggs

    Next step…

    Chipset implants for everyone!

I’m not trying to make ligth of it but it’s coming, The ole addage it’s for your own good or you really need it comes to mind.

Yet the one main exploit of the government that will indeed turn everyone on thier heads.

    • DaveH

They already have that capability Raggs. They’re called Cell Phones with GPS capabilities.
Of course, the excuse they use is that they will be able to locate and save you in an emergency. Yeah, right. I had an emergency once. My girlfriend called the Police immediately. They arrived 5 minutes later, and the attackers had already fled. And that was with a physical address. Imagine you’re out somewhere remote. Does anybody really think the GPS would enable them to get to you in time in the case of a real emergency?
But if we got to the point of National Turmoil, they would enable the Government to track you easily and dispose of you at will.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Unless you throw your cell phone away.

      • JC

Exactly…so don’t forget the “Friends and Family Plan” Make sure they can track anyone associated with you as well.

    • Michael J.

Implants are not the answer. How long would it be before someone figures out how to make forged copies, reprogam or hack into them. In the mean time our government will have yet another means of control and monitoring us.

      • Raggs

        Mike..
I have considered that as well.
And to think obama want’s our medical record’s in a data base.
Prehap’s the medical record’s are a frontrunner of a chipset implant as with an excuse from them to push an indentification system.
You are correct in thinking a hacker can inflitrate and corrupt a system electronically. But i have to ask myself if this is the case then why are they pushing for an electronic file of our med record’s?
I think the answer is… They know fully well what may and will eventually happen, but that is a small price to pay..not only that but they do not have to pay that price we will.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Raggs; Chips already have been implanted into a family in Florida. It’s coming and I hope I’m gutsy enough to cut them out of my body.

  • Boo T

If George Bush did nothing else, he was tough on terrorists, and tried to keep our country safe. I need to believe that some one truly gives a care for our country and our well being, am I being naive?

    • Raggs

I would have to say this administration does not give any more than .01cent. He is too busy trying to impress himself and the media.
It takes regular folks to stop him and his out-of-control ego.

    • DaveH

No, you’re not being Naive Boo, but I think a much better solution to our safety is a well-armed society. And in fact many in Government are trying their best to disarm us.
      See this Video:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nf1OgV449g

      • gaetano

Well now Dave,Lets talk about disarmed, gunmen. Type in on any site (muslims compounds training in the U.S.) Thats right there are 35 of them, and explain to me why Mr.Obama and this so called protection of the people, government is allowing this to go on. They are training and putting together a muslim army to fight from the inside.Do you believe this? CAN you believe this?I have been on edge all day reading about it and they are even on film.

        • DaveH

I wouldn’t doubt it. We have created this condition by apathetically electing leaders in both parties who instead of doing their real job (protecting people from the force of others), they have instead taken over our money and our choices.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I fully believe George W. Bush loves this country, and I observed him sacrificing his popularity to do what it took to shut down these terrorists and keep our country safe. God bless him for that. You wont see any democrats, ever, and I mean ever, sacrifice their public persona to do what is best for the people. It is all about them, and whats in it for them. Sorry, buts thats the truth. Just look at them. Pelosi, Dodd, Boxer, Feinstein, Frank, Durbin, Obama, Biden, Kerry, Edwards, Daschle, Rangle, Sharpton, Jackson, Reid. Every stinking one of them. They either have “love” children, special interest agenda’s, or various other “me” related things. George W. Bush stands heads above them. He gave, they take.

      • Raggs

        I concur!
I didn’t mean to make it sound like nobody has ever cared.
We are just stuck with an idiot ego that could care less if it does not benefit him.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ill bet he looks in the mirror, points his finger at himself, and says “you da man”. Arrogant son of a gun.

        • Michael J.

Raggs, I disagree with almost everything I have ever heard Obama say, but he is not an idiot or stupid. I think he plots, plans and implements his own personal agenda decades in advance. He is however a maniacle, manipulative necrophiliac who lustfully exumes his perceived deficiencies of the previous adminisrtation in order to camophlage his own fowl deeds.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Raggs; So true and right on the money.

      • Michael J.

        Beberoni, I agree 100%

  • Katja

I am inclined to believe the story about the elderly man being mistreated in Raleigh airport. Why ? I am a 66year-old white woman who ist constantly being singled out for “special treatment” in airports (I fly several times per year). When asking what for, I get very rude answers and even threats. Looking into the mirror, I ask myself: What is it that attracts them to ME instead of much more suspicious looking young men of a certain race and creed ? Now I know:
“Specialists in body language” seek out people who seem to act nervously! Well, let me tell you a secret: I AM TERRIBLY AFRAID OF FLYING, and I start days before a flight to take sedatives. Sure I am nervous, damn it. And I will be even more so next week when I am going on vacation !
And since I am of a certain age, I ask myself what will be should I start to need bladder protection? Would I have to pull down my pants
for some half wit who mans the body scanner ? I have family in Germany which I like to visit, so I can’t just stay home like somebody suggested.

    • Norm

If you are afraid to fly, you should br very concerned that that your fellow passengers aren’t carrying explosives.
I don’t think anybody is nuts about seeing a 66 year old’s body scan.
Be objective, smile, and go with he flow. Have you ever had a colonoscopy? A body scan should be tame.

Maybe if we would stop playing the role of “Empire America” some of these problems would go away and we would save a lot of money as well.

Norm, I don’t think we have taken on the role of “Empire America” as you so brashly stated.
And DaveH, World Policeman is a job we do reluctantly. Who would you rather see as world cop? Iran maybe? Or how about Hugo Chavez?

    Dave.

I’m not sure but I think I mentioned the health reform snacthing gun’s on a different post.
OSHA has filed a complaint on gun owners bringing firearms to work.
This will go in hand with “health reform” to oust ownership due to a “saftey hazard”.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

OSHA is a bunch of two bit jerks. Everytime, there are 10 different OSHA inspectors, and all 10 of them will tell you different rules concerning the same thing. Its like each guy thinks he is God and makes up the rules. They are along the lines of the IRS, where they have too much power.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

BeBe; OSHA, FDA, and almost every other man made programs are filled with good old boys, neighbors, friends, sons, daughters cousins, nieces. nephews and anyone they choose to attach to the umbillicord cord.
The umbillicord should have been severed years ago. Better yet they should never have been allowed to start up under the guise of nepotism. Too many of us asleep at the wheel.
        Law implemented too late.

    • Michael J.

Raggs, Government run health care will open up the flood gates to all kinds of new legislation. You can’t have guns because it cost the Gov. to much to patch up gun shot victims. It will allow them to control almost every aspect of our lives. That which is deemed unsafe or unhealthy will be prohbited as a result of health care cost issues.

All politics left or right aside, I am over all this crap! 8 years of this b.s. and what have we actually got to show for it other than some pain in the ass Orwellian nightmare in airports? I’m done with flying period. Until some sanity and common sense is returned to this situation, eff it, I’ll drive where I want to go. Frankly people, given the nature of our society, that is probably the only thing that will get both the airlines and the governments attention. If people stop flying, then the airlines ain’t making money. If they ain’t making any money off us drones, then they will start paying attention, and maybe, if only to protect their own wallets, they might try something different. Some kind of logic based process. What we got now? It ain’t logical and it ain’t makin us safer. I don’t like it, but that’s just the truth of it….

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

They seem to constantly get bailed out by the government. Maybe thats the problem, too much dependance on government. It ruins a lot of things when that happens you know.

    • JC

  • JimBob

    Beberoni,

In case you haven’t seen my reply above, here it is again:

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Your a confused man. Clinton? The dude was the worst thing that ever happened to this country. He let them blow us up again and again, causing 9-11. He left them unchecked for 8 years. He dismantled our intelligence community, and jerks like you wonder why we received faulty intelligence on WMD’s. He sold our technology to China, sold our manufacturing to Mexico, defile the White House, his wife and his child, not to mention this country. He cause the banks collapse by giving all the “American dream” of owning a house, by setting up using Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac funding for house loans, ran by top democrats Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick, under the watchdog eye of Barney Frank, yet another top democrat. He cut our military in half, to which we are still catching up on. He committed genocide in Kosovo, and is and was one degenerate of a human being, and we are still paying for what he did and didnt do. And your democrats all voted for this war, and wanted it bad, before Bush even got elected.

      • JimBob

You are at least consistent with your dumb replies and your abuse of the written language. You don’t know the difference between an adjective (your) and a contraction (you’re), any more than you know the difference between a good president and a bad president. All you know is that if it’s Republican, it’s good, and if it’s Democrat, it’s no good. That tells me what an imbecile you are.

When you get smart enough to read, I suggest you go to your local library and study the history of this great nation. After you learn that it is the Democrats who build this nation after the Republicans do their damndest to destroy it, you will change your stupid dim-witted mind about your political party affiliation and post an apology for your being so blind for so long. That is, if you learn to write.

        • coal miner

          JimBob,

We had a surplus when at the end of the term when Bill Clinton was president and when George Night Crawler Bush left office,we were saddled with a deficit that may never be paid off,not in our life time.Next to Calvin Coolidge,George Bush deserves the crown as the worse president.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gee, seems to me this nation had a bunch of democrats that were against freeing slaves, and the Republicans had to come and make things right. Didnt they? Yeah, I think so. Kennedy got us into Vietnam, and Johnson escalated it, and Nixon ended it. Again, right? Yes, thats how it went. Then Clinton came and played with cigars, while the enemy over and over punched us in the nose, and did nothing. He cut intelligence in half, along with the military, and no one caught these guys as they set up shop, then blew up the WTC on 9-11. Isnt that how it went? Yes, in fact, it did. Then also, Clinton was offered Bin Laden what, like 3 times, and he said no. Fact. Again, this is correct. And for 8 years all I heard was “Why cant Bush catch Bin Laden”. Heck, you lefties were offered him and didnt take him, so quit pointing fingers. And dude, seriously, I dont give a darn about a verb, or adjective or pronoun. Who cares? Is it getting me a job? Does it make me a better person? No, not at all. Its irrelevant. And spelling, Ill take you in a spelling bee anyday pal. Ive won them all my life. I just dont spell check on this thread, as sometimes my 73 words per minute typing skills get ahead of my thoughts, causing me to spell things wrong, but I dont care. You think me to be dumb, thats ok, that is on you brother. But between you and I and God, with all of us knowing you swing to the democrat side, we all know who the dummy is. Have a good day.

  • http://www.personalliberty.com/chip-wood/airline-insecurity/ Arthur

As always, we have to ask “Who stands to gain?” when we are faced with dramatic events such as this one.

It is not coincidence that the government push for full body scanning at airports is greatly enhanced by a “terrorist” who, after travelling for ten hours or more, decides to wait until the very last minute to try to detonate body explosives… nor do I believe that it was “pure good fortune” that this failed.

Consider the alternative – and supposedly planned scenario – that the plane had been blown up (… an everyday occurence, to be sure). In that case the exact location of the explosives would have remained unknown… obviously, not in the government’s interest!

The bottom line: we will now be subject to even more indignities all in the name of national security. What a bunch of sheep we’ve become!

    • Raggs

      I cannot believe it!!!!
Finally someone that thinks without the government.
Sorry folk’s I just got excited by Arthur’s post.
I know there are many who don’t need the government to think, but I find it as people wake up to the truth they come out. Well not from obama but who needs the bum. I would love to be behind the scene just to find out this was all planned for the almigthy obama’s ego trip.

      • JimBob

Both Arthur and Raggs are “conspiracy freaks.” If someone like either of them was in charge, can you imagine the bedlam and havoc that we would have to live with? Aren’t you glad that Obama is in charge and they aren’t?

        • Raggs

          Oh brother…
obama cannot charge his way out of a wet paper sack, pelosi does all of it for him. You must like peanut farmer’s.
My conspiracy is this administration is making excuses for the lack of job’s in this country when they are passing a law that destroy’s America. I think you need to wake up but that is not my problem..No I’m wrong it is my problem so is this blooming idiot obama.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Obama in charge? Not so quick my friend. He blindly does what they tell him, and that is exactly why they allready are turning on him, to save face, and blaming him for the things they told him to do. Pretty comical actually, but he is no leader, and if you dont see that by now, no one can help you because your in denial.

Conspiracy freaks? Oh! You mean the people who pay attention and are capable of critical analytical thought. Good to see you’ve come up with a term that you can use to understand something.
Its no theory that there is a Globalist / NWO order conspiracy on the move. It’s easy to see and that’s just using all the facts, no theories at all…
But you have to open your eyes a little to see it.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

They can electronically scan me to see if I have explosives anytime, anywhere, I dont care. As long as they do it to everyone, so that the guy with the bomb gets caught. They can tap my phone and listen to me tell my wife I love her, I dont care. I have nothing to hide. You guys that are paranoid about this stuff kill me. If they do this and capture one terrorist that was going to blow something up, and save one life, its more that worth it to me. Of course, I myself value life very much. I dont feel entitled to all this special treatment that some of you feel, like no one should check you for a bomb when you get on a plane, or if your suspected of something, no one can listen to your phone calls. Me, my conscience doesnt bother me, and Ive got nothing to hide, and theyve got nothing to gain on my account, so who flippin cares? I dont, and I dont need to. They dont own me, they will never own me, so maybe I just get my peace from that. If your all worried about this, maybe you ought to get to know this guy named Jesus. He set me free from all that baloney.

      • Claire

Beberoni: I agree with you 100% I have nothing to hide either and I would willingly go through a scanner and whatever else. Airline security has no choice. They have to do this to protect the passengers. Sure, it is time-consuming, and I hope they do it correctly. It is well worth it to know there won’t be any nuts on the plane. Invariably something will happen, either a worker will not be doing the job right/correctly or someone will slip past.

      • JimBob

Maybe I need to take back part of what I said before. This post makes a lot of sense. Even your writing is getting better!

        • Claire

JimBob–was your post aimed at me?

In the mean time keep your hand’s off my ARSE!

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Is that directed at me Raggs? Man, what did I do to you? I want smaller government. I dont want government doing this, I want a private security company, who if they do a crummy job, get fired and a better one can do it. You cant fire the government. Have you never noticed at some government offices, what you get is what you get, and what you get isnt very good, but your stuck with it? But no, you misread me totally if you think I want government bigger. Oh no, no, no , no, no. It is too big now, too controlling. They should not be in health care, social security, medi-care, medi-caid, the U.S. Post office, the school systems. Think about it, all these things they run are broke and in need of more money. More of our money. No, government needs to be downsized. You got me all wrong pal.

      • JC

        Nothing to hide?
Ok I have a problem with that whole idea. (not a personal attack)
This is a bit long but give it some thought Beberoni…

        ——————————————————————————–

        By John Dean, FindLaw.com
        October 20, 2007,
“I’ve got nothing to hide, so electronic surveillance doesn’t bother me. To the contrary, I’m delighted that the Bush Administration is monitoring calls and electronic traffic on a massive scale, because catching terrorists is far more important that worrying about the government’s listening to my phone calls, or reading my emails.” So the argument goes. It is a powerful one that has seduced too many people.

Millions of Americans buy this logic, and in accepting it, believe they are doing the right thing for themselves, their family, and their friends, neighbors, community and country. They are sadly wrong. If you accept this argument, you have been badly fooled.

This contention is being bantered about once again, so there is no better time than the present to set thinking people straight. Bush and Cheney want to make permanent unchecked Executive powers to electronically eavesdrop on anyone whom any president feels to be of interest. In August, before the summer recess, Congress enacted the Protect America Act, which provided only temporary approval for the expanding Executive powers under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). These temporary powers expire in February 2008, so Congress is once again addressing the subject.

The FISA amendments: the administration is seeking immunity for miscreants

Because of the way electronic traffic is directed from foreign countries through the United States, the FISA Court had previously rejected requests to intercept certain foreign-person- to-foreign-person communications in the United States. It was a technical problem, arising from the fact that FISA was written before modern data routing had been designed, and FISA thus needed fixing. On this, everyone agreed.

However, when the Bush Administration asked for the necessary fix to FISA, it also requested much more, including immunity under the existing laws for all the telecommunications companies that have been assisting the government in its illegal warrantless surveillance. Significantly, this practice — justified by reference to the “war on terror” — apparently started well before 9/11 under the Bush Administration.

Ironically, in requesting this immunity, the Bush White House has refused to disclose exactly what type of activities Congress would be retroactively immunizing. Preliminary congressional inquiry has revealed that a massive amount of electronic surveillance of Americans has gone on under the Bush/Cheney Administration. For example, one of the telecom giants, Verizon, reported that between January 2005 and September 2007 they provided information on 94,000 occasions. These numbers suggest that Verizon was operating as merely another (and a secret) extension of the federal intelligence establishment.

Many of the companies appear to be violating a number of federal criminal statutes — such as 18 U.S.C. 2511, which requires a warrant for such surveillance and 18 U.S.C. 2702, which prohibits any “entity providing an electronic communication service to the public” from knowingly divulging “to any person or entity the contents of a communication” without a court order.

Currently, the telecoms are not likely to be particularly worried about being prosecuted by the very same government that instructed them to violate the law, and is leading the way in doing so itself.

But what about under the next Administration? The five-year statute of limitations will make them potentially criminally liable after Bush is gone — at least, unless the Bush Administration gains for them retroactive and future immunity. In a new Administration, the telecoms may be viewed not as cooperative patriots, but rather as criminal co-conspirators.

Civil liability appears to be driving the immunity request

Meanwhile, civil liability for these companies is also a realistic prospect. For example, in a San Francisco federal court, AT&T customers are seeking to protect their privacy with actions under laws like 18 U.S.C. 2520, which provides a civil remedy and hefty damages — ranging up to $10,000 per day per violation. Since it is possible that, over five-plus years, there have been tens upon tens of thousands of such violations, the, if liable telecoms could be looking at hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars of damages.

The Bush Administration clearly wants to help its partners in crime; it also wants to avoid accountability for what it has done and is still doing. If the civil litigation proceeds — and one judge already ruled that the “state secrets” privilege does not prevent the plaintiffs from going forward — the Bush Administration faces the risk of a federal court’s forcing it to disclose its unsavory surveillance activities.

Privacy advocates are horrified at the prospect of Congress’s potentially protecting this activity through immunity legislation. Yet, in sharp contrast, most people could care less. Indeed few people seem to care about their loss of privacy, notwithstanding the fact that, like an invisible pollutant to our air or water, it is increasingly eroding our freedom. Unfortunately, it seems that the invasion of our privacy, like the destruction of our atmosphere, may be tolerated until it is too late to fix it.

One of the leading causes of both problems is ignorance. Privacy is a highly complex issue, so people easily accept the claims of those who assert that, if you are not doing anything illegal, you have nothing to be concerned about government surveillance, and if you are, you have no right to privacy to break the law.

        Understanding the misunderstanding about privacy

For several years I have been reading the work of George Washington University Law School Professor Daniel J. Solove, who writes extensively about privacy in the context of contemporary digital technology. The current apathy about government surveillance brought to mind his essay “‘I’ve Got Nothing To Hide’ And Other Misunderstandings of Privacy.”

Professor Solove’s deconstruction of the “I’ve got nothing to hide” position, and related justifications for government surveillance, is the best brief analysis of this issue I have found. These arguments are not easy to zap because, once they are on the table, they can set the terms of the argument. As Solove explains, “the problem with the nothing to hide argument is with its underlying assumption that privacy is about hiding bad things.” He warns, “Agreeing with this assumption concedes far too much ground and leads to an unproductive discussion of information people would likely want or not want to hide.” Solove’s bottom line is that this argument “myopically views privacy as a form of concealment or secrecy.”

In his work, Solove addresses the reality that privacy problems differ: Not all are equal; some are more harmful than others. Most importantly, he writes, “to understand privacy, we must conceptualize it and its value more pluralistically.” Through several years of work, Solove has developed a more nuanced concept of privacy that rebuts the idea that there is a “one-size-fits-all conception of privacy.”

The concept of “privacy” encompasses many ideas relating to the proper and improper use and abuse of information about people within society. Privacy protects information not only because it would cause others to think less of the person at issue, but also simply to give us all breathing room: “Society involves a great deal of friction,” Solove writes, “and we are constantly clashing with each other. Part of what makes a society a good place in which to live is the extent to which it allows people freedom from the intrusiveness of others. A society without privacy protection would be suffocation, and it might not be a place in which most would want to live.”

Professor Solove’s work — much of which he makes available online — helps clarify thinking about privacy in its fuller context, and helps explain what is wrong with reductive dismissals of privacy using the mantra, “I’ve got nothing to hide.” Before rushing to give the Bush Administration more ways to invade our privacy, not to mention absolving those who have confederated with him to engage in the most massive invasion of America privacy ever, members of Congress should look at Solove’s work. Too many of them have no idea what privacy is all about, and grossly underestimate the value of this complex and essential concept.

One problem is that people assume life is like a movie where we know who the bad guys are. The truth is that there are evil people in all walks of life including Government and once all these mechanisms are in place and complacently accepted by the citizens, the potential for misuse by these evil people is immense.

          • JC

That’s right Dave. And it’s also why I don’t buy into the “I have nothing to hide” approach to government incursions into my life (public or private). When we take that “nothing to hide” attitude, we’ve already given them way too much ground.
As for airport security, we have adequated measures in place already.
I will not allow myself to be X-Ray’d. That’s a completely hideous violation of my property rights. My body is MY property…period!

one way we could stop these terroists from blowing up our planes. when we catch one in the process our military should determine from where this vermin is sent from and eliminate one village or camp and all who live there. we could determine how much they believe in the forty virgins rumor.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

If you catch one, its simple. Take him up in a plane, wrap him in pigskins, and throw him out and detonate his bomb, since his wish was to kill himself. That way the innocents are protected, he gets his wish to die, and the pigskins on him just may make other muslim terrorists think about it a little more. They are scared of that little piggy you know.

Right on, coal miner. The only bad thing during LBJ’s time in office was Vietnam. It was otherwise golden years that were almost as good as those during Clinton’s two great terms.

you and coal miner are two peas in a pod. Bill Clinton rode the success’s of Ronald Reagan for 6 years, before it caught up to him and he screwed it all up. Why? Because he upped taxes more than any president in history. Fact. Check it out. Clinton had more tax increases than any president in history. After Reagan scaled down government, cut taxes, the economy rolled like never before. Clinton screwed it up, and Bush cleaned it up after 2 years. The democrat express derailed it when it was clear Obama was getting elected. Its gone to hell since, and Obama has accelerated its decline. But see, its not really him, its his party, the democrats. The tax monsters. They are screwing it up again, and if you cant see that, your just plain biased or dumb, one or the other. The economy rolls when you cut taxes, it goes bad when you add them.

By gosh, what is the harm in waterboarding? Oh, I know, we’re supposed to be civilized. Well, when any of our soldiers are captured, are they tortured? Hell yes, they are. They have their heads cut off and only the Good Lord knows what else happens to them. Do you think any of those ignorant countries care about being civilized? NO!!! If waterboarding means gaining information on future attacks, then yes, go for it. I have compassion, but when it comes to war, it is an entirely different matter.

        • cr747

Claire I agree with you one hundred percent. You ought to have seen some of the torture that went on in Vietnam. Not pretty, not pretty at all. I shiver even now when I thank about it.

cr747—Hello! I have always thought waterboarding was rather mild compared to the atrocities committed against our soldiers. Torture is an evil thing but it is a fact of life. I do not condone war, but when we are involved in a war, we must protect our soldiers and our country in any and every way that we can.

DeeD—I had to reply on cr747′s post. Yeah, all we need is about 10 “Enola Gay’s” and get rid of them. Of course, this is not feasible but it sure makes me want to do it. Yes, bring our troops home, rebuild America and make her stronger than ever. Get rid of the illegals. Clean house of those that want to do harm to America. No amnesty. Close our borders completely to all illegals/aliens. We are overpopulated with them now, we cannot be the caretaker/caregiver of the whole world. We must quit sticking our nose in all these countries that don’t give a damn. Let them fight amongst themselves. They have fought like cats and dogs since the beginning of time. Some/most of them will never change. They don’t want to change. They don’t want us there. Take care of America first.

Dee D, now this is the “Dee D” I remember. Hang in there little one You are beginning to come back, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://my3x5s.blogspot.com dantana

People are forgetting how many oppressed nations we have liberated and how many of our own were tortured and beheaded and put on parade. How many jumped to avoid certain death trapped in a burning World Trade Center.
I say tazer his (the Undies-Bomber), tazer his “coin purse” if you know what I mean. Anything to get ahead of the enemy. I saw Burg’s beheading and I know Vietnam Vets who have seen hell on earth.
Nancy Pelosi was for it when it was popular in 2001, now her parties ideologue shifts toward this hatred for Bush it became popular to challenge those methods and call the C.I.A. liars? C’mon. Corruptocrats!
Profile! You have to. It’s the law of probability. You can’t win a war on terror and still be politically correct.
    Dana Walsh 2010!

    • JimBob

“… forgetting how many oppressed nations we have liberated?” Like that’s some more of our business. If you came to my house to liberate anybody, you wouldn’t walk out. I’d snuff you in a second.

    • coal miner

      dantana,

Look how many American lives we lost.We don’t need to stick our noses in other people’s business. We can’t be world policemen. It is crock trying to liberate the world. Most of these people don’t appreciate it.You see that on planes.

      • Claire

coal miner—I agree with you wholeheartedly. We cannot be the world’s peacemaker. In fact, some of it has backfired on us. Some of these countries do not want the U.S. to intervene. Enough is enough. Sure we have allies, but look who sends the most troops when needed!!!! America does. I say take care of America first and foremost. It is to the point we can’t take care of our own country let alone other countries.

        • Claire

And when I say we can’t take care of ourselves I do not mean everyone should be on welfare and have the government take care of us. I want to make that clear.

      • JC

Tha CIA calls it “Blowback”. The phenomenon of gaining the animosity and hostility of a nation after you’ve say…installed a “US friendly” dictatorship such as that in Pakistan or Sauidi Arabia.
Oddly, the people of those nation’s don’t appreciate that.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Dantana: Now we are the repressed and becommimng a third world nation. Here in Tennessee the Republicans are corrupting the local govt the same as the famous community organizer did in Chicago. It is mob rules mentality. The Republicans in office along with their Democrat attorneys are running rough shod over the average citizen here. The City is using the building of a new airport to steal county people’s property rights away thru zoning. They only want to build this airport for the so the govt officials can use a few wealthy peoples private jets so they don’t have to go thru scanners with the common man. Now this airport will still have no security, no tower, no record of who flies in and out, and is within 100 miles of 3 nuclear plants. Now if the FAA was really concerned with our safety they would not allow this to be built however they are allowing the local govt to lie, cheat, and steal. The local govt’s attitude is if you don’t like it, sue us. They know the average citizen can’t stop them, I have been told that this case to stop them would run 100k. They are going to dump their polluted storm water runoff into the sinkholes on the property into my under ground drinking aquifer which is my only source of water. I am on a well. I to believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights however I have adopted the motto:
If you can afford the Bill, you can have the Rights. I do not believe in the Republican and Democratic party’s any longer. They are one and the same. It is the have moral and ethic and the have nots.

  • Mr. R

Right, so if all of this rhetoric is just that, then what do we a citizens?
how do we all stand up, together, because it really does not work until that happens, and push for what is respectful?

until everyone accepts that the powers that be do not have “our” interests in mind, only themselves, and makes a stand for respect in every facet of life things will continue as status quo.
We will all just keep yelling in space and have it ignored

    RIght Understanding
    Right Thought
    RIght Speech
    Right Action

    Respect is the only law!

  • Taken

I also forgot my other motto: If you’re in, you’re out. Don’t elect anyone back to their prior office, maybe not any one that has held an office. We can put term limits on them ourselves by voting this way. We can take back the power of our government in one or two elections, local, state and federal. Don’t drink the Kool Aid, and be lulled into a false sense of security, vote all of them out after their term is up. Spread the word and always hold to it, we will win more times and politicians will get the message.

    • JimBob

      Right on, Taken!!

I received the following email a few days ago. I wrote back that everything it says about Congress is true of our state, county, city and all other local politicians. Let’s get rid of every one of them and start fresh.

      *******************************************************************

The entire Congress of the United States is corrupt. And I mean both Houses, and I mean both major parties.

I realize that a few members of each House are trustworthy, but as a group they are absolutely the most corrupt bunch to ever disgrace our nation.

In November of 2010 the entire House of Representatives will stand for re-election; all 435 of them. One third of the Senate, a total of 33 of them, will also stand for re-election.

Vote every incumbent out. And I mean every one of them. No matter their party affiliation.

Let’s start all over in the House of Representatives with 435 people who have absolutely no experience in running that body, with no political favors owed to anyone but their own constituents. Let’s make them understand that they work for us.

They are answerable to us, and they simply have to run that body with some common sense.

Two years later, in 2012 vote the next third of the incumbents in the Senate out.

We can do the same thing in 2014, and by that time we will have put all new people in that body as well.

We, the people, have got to take this country back and we HAVE to do it peacefully.

That’s what the framers of our Constitution envisioned.

I am also suggesting term limits on the NEW BUNCH — 8 YEARS FOR REPRESENTATIVES — two terms that’s all, and 12 YEARS [two terms] FOR SENATORS.

NO EXCEPTIONS. THE LONGER THEY STAY IN OFFICE THE MORE POWER THEY GET. THEY LOVE IT AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET RE-ELECTED.

WE HAVE TERM LIMITED THE PRESIDENT. NOW LET’S TERM LIMIT THE LEGISLATORS.

And we need to do away with their special retirement system and their health care program. They should have same retirement and health care programs everyone else in America does.

When they are through serving their country and they go back to being private citizens, they should view their service as a privilege. After all, it was designed to be a part time job to represent the voice of the people, NOT the special interest groups and those who can do favors for them.

If they don’t like this proposal, then they shouldn’t run for office.

PLEASE, IF YOU LOVE THIS COUNTRY, SEND THIS (AS I HAVE DONE) TO ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE WHOSE EMAIL ADDRESS APPEARS IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK. IT CAN PERMEATE THIS COUNTRY IN NO TIME.

      LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN.

VOTE THE POWER ABUSERS OUT……..LETS TAKE AMERICA BACK!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU LIKE THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING IN OUR COUNTRY, THEN DO NOTHING………

      • libertytrain

JimBob – I’m confused – by this line:
“I am also suggesting term limits on the NEW BUNCH — 8 YEARS FOR REPRESENTATIVES — two terms that’s all, and 12 YEARS [two terms] FOR SENATORS.”
Congressmen – have 2 year terms so that means if they serve 8 years – that’s 4 terms – whomever wrote this – didn’t do well in school or much research????

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

JimBob; I think it would be very helpful if each and every bublic servant of ours had to pay into Soc. Sec. and draw same benefits the main street citizens draw. Talk about many improveents moving speedy fast and no more dilly dalling for over 40 years. Bet a particular party would be able to walk forward on two perfectly good legs and all baby boomers would have income to look forward too. They can no longer vote themselves $2,000.00 – $3,000.00 – $4,0000.00 dollar raises – that will be our job if they deserve it. They knew the risks they were taking throwing their hats into the political ring, so when they are voted out they are on their own. Wow look at the savings. Could help the deficit after all.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Yes we can Taken and we can still vote party lines if we choose also. Just be sure to vote all incombents OUT -OUT – OUT and new ones in.
I vote absotee ballots so I have access to my computer to be certain I do not slip up. They’ve gone digital and I can no longer tape info onto video tapes to use as past research to guide my vote. Gotta learm to burm the dv’s for the same goal. Ya, This old dog is willing to learn new tricks to stay ahead of the scum bags in Washington. One’s gotta do what one gotta do to stay ahead of the game lol/

      • cr747

Now that’s what I am talking about!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Raggs

    This is totally stupid!

Yeah I agree that the law of possiblities in sometime sooner or later someone will do something stupid like bring a bomb onboard an airliner. DUH… I have an idea let’s throw everyone that travels by air into a cage like an animal and throw them into the cargo hold. Or better yet let’s all panic and stay home. Hey we can do something even better than that… Let’s send them bomb’s so they can blow themselves up. I thougth some of you had sence but forget that.

Conspiracy?… No just a little common sence.
You see you people are leaving everything up to the government to “take care” of you.. which is BS.. All of you want to be a “hand-out”? your logic is based on what they tell you and nothing else.
You can take care of yourselves… They do not want you to know that.

    • JimBob

The government don’t take care of me, but it does take care of about 30% of the conservative Republican-ominated state that I live in.

  • JimBob

Another smart thing I read in this blog is in Chip Wood’s opening comments; although most of the comments he made are very stupid. It says, “Eight years, billions of dollars and untold man-hours later, we’re still making the same mistakes.” Bush the Ignorant devised the program and watched it suck the billions of dollars out of our economy for seven of those eight years that he wrote about. Does anyone expect that Obama can undo in one year all of screw ups done in the eight years by Bush, Cheney, Rummy and the rest of the conservative Republican clowns that screwed up the eight great years of progress made under President William Jefferson Clinton?

Oops, I forgot Rove, Ridge and Condi the Lezzie.

    • Raggs

Sound’s like another crutch… I guees that’s all the Dem’s have to throw thier soil on…

      • JimBob

Only lame Republicans need a crutch – for their brain. Get smart, join the majority of us who think for themselves without Rush, Gallagher, Malkin, Krauthammer, Hannity, Beck and all the other conservative blabbermouths coaching their every thought.

        • Raggs

          Nah I jest…
If I wanted communism I would move to China.
The onlt boat you are on is a fast sinking one which is deserving of tratiors.

          • Raggs

            jim..

You have a sad day when you think that I cannot think without you.
I have posted the same where as your obama want’s a braindead population to control.. The only braindead is your party.

        • DaveH

You think for yourself and yet embrace the party of thieves? Since when is it okay to redistribute the money of others?
If 3 people get together and vote to help themselves to your wallet is it not theft? Then why is it not theft when 100 million vote to help themselves to your wallet?

          • JimBob

Obama hasn’t raised the taxes. No money has been redistributed. What are you talking about? You had to hear that from someone else who does your thinking for you. That is the way a mealy-mouthed, no-brain conservative learns things. He listens to other mealy-mouthed, no-brain conservatives instead of picking up a newspaper, magazine or book and learning the facts on his own.

Reagan, a Republican, was the deficit king. While in office, he lowered the marginal tax rate on the wealthiest married Americans couples filing jointly by 60% from 70% to 28%, while only lowering middle class taxes by 35%. During Reagan’s two terms, the debt increased 12.4% per year from under $1 trillion to almost $3 trillion.

After promising “no new taxes,” George H W Bush made things a little better by raising the top bracket to 31%. During his four year term, he raised the debt 11.47% per year to $4.4 trillion. That’s better than Reagan did on the debt, but still far too much and unacceptable.

When Clinton got elected, he raised the marginal tax rate for the highest married wage earners filing jointly from 31% to 39.6% and in his eight years in office, the debt went up an average of only 3.50%, a full 2/3 less than his two Republican predecessors. When Clinton left office, there was a budget surplus for the first time since Eisenhower was the president.

Then along came your hero, Ignorant Bush. Despite witnessing Clinton’s policies create the greatest economic expansion in over four decades, he reversed those policies and lowered the tax rate for his wealthy compadres back down to 35%. At the same time, he squandered hundreds of billions of dollars, and the debt doubled while he was at the helm increasing 9.4% per year.

Now tell me again, foolish one, which party is the party of thieves? Which is the tax and spend party? Call Rush and tell him what I wrote – I can’t get past the screener because Rush doesn’t want you and the rest of his listeners to hear the truth so he can continue thinking for you bunch of jerks.

          • cr747

JIMBOB!, have no clue where you got your figures. I fall under that group you mentioned. Those figures must have come out of your a___, because they sure are not true!!!!!!!!!!!

    • gaetano

Whoa there JimBob. Don`t be telling lies about Bush. Your George Clooney House and senate was taken over in 2006.What did your great democratic congress do for the next 2 years? The only thing they did was make every thing bad that they could to make bush look terrible. They could have started something good if they wanted to,but then the republicans would get the credit. You are a fool. Bush protected you a%% for those 8 years, and you better start to believe that what WE got now will bury US with out a minutes loss of sleep.

      • JimBob

Like most Republicans, you don’t get it either because your party has been blind since way back before Hoover (wasn’t he a dandy?) was president. Surely, you didn’t expect the new Congress to be able to straighten out everything in three years that it took the Republicans twelve years to screw up, did you? Especially with Bush the Ignorant and his conservative Republican clowns still in the White House the first two years!

The Democrats didn’t have to do a thing to make Bush look bad in his final two years. He didn’t need any help. He did that all by himself for two entire terms after President Clinton had everything sailing smoothly. Bush wasn’t just the dumbest president of all time, he was also the worst president of all time. Your conservative icon, Ronnie Reagan, is a close second in both of those categories. And was there ever a worse Speaker of the House than Salamander Gingrich? While the Republicans were in control of Congress, they were so inept that they couldn’t even get the job done when they attempted to impeach Clinton. What about that?

Bush didn’t protect you, me or anyone else from anything. He is to blame for the death of 3,000 people on 9/11 because of his stupidity and lax national security. In May of 2002, the White House admitted that Bush had been warned by American intelligence agencies in early August of 2001 that Osama bin Laden was seeking to hijack aircraft for the purpose of carrying out terrorist acts. It must have gone right over his head because he took no heed to the warning. What do you think? Do you think that he protected us because ten or twenty thousand more weren’t killed?

Now, because of his spending seven years bullying the Iraqis, who had nothing to do with the attack on the World Trade Center, al Qaeda and the Taliban have no problem recruiting Islamic jihadists to battle and kill American troops in Afghanistan and terrorists to attempt to kill our people on our own soil. Fortunately, we now have a president who is smart enough to listen to intelligence reports, and one who will act when told that danger lurks.

Come on, man, quit sitting on your brains and get your act together. You should know better than to let Rush and Hannity do your thinking for you. Get a life, gaetano!

        • DaveH

So now it’s 12 years of Republican screwups? I guess they are now responsible for 4 years of the Clinton Administration? Unbelievable.
And I suppose you will be still blaming Republicans after 4 years of economic and freedom destruction at the hands of Obama and the outlaw Democratic Congressmen.
All you have to do is go to the Congressional Websites and look back at the current and past Sessions of Congress to see that the Democrats are the Big Spenders and the Government Growthers. Here is the link for the House of Representatives:
          http://clerk.house.gov/legislative/legvotes.html
I wouldn’t expect any more from Liberals whose economic knowledge is based on Hopes and Dreams.

        • DDC

JimBob, You must be a brother to O-Bam-Bam, or a Muslim, or maybe a FIRST grader, because you sure as hell don’t KNOW anything about politics. Roll over and get your diaper changed. Your comments sure do stink.

  • gaetano

Remember this when this counytry gets back on track, that the democrats have been running our country for 3 years now, and have done nothing but damage to us. They will pay in the long run.

    • DaveH

Republicans are no doubt complicit in our Big Government growth, although to much lesser extent than the Democrats.
The fact is that the Government is now much more into our personal lives than they should be. What happened to the Limited Government as established under the Constitution? No Government person (of either party) can be expected to care as much about us as we care about ourselves. If we won’t get educated, scrutinize our purchases, and work hard to make our own way, don’t expect the gang in Washington DC to do it for us. They are too busy with their own lives, and too busy partying on our money to care about us.
We need to get back to the economic freedom which built this country into the powerhouse that it was before we became a debtor nation at the hands of the Big Government spenders.

    • Claire

Americans are already paying for the inadequacies and corruption of politicians. The politicians do what they want. They don’t care about Americans, only their own personal gain. As I said before in another post, show me a politician, and I ‘ll show you a life of deceit in some form or another.
Sure, vote them all out, but what will replace them? Something better or more of the same? As far as I am concerned it will be more of the same until we get new people elected, no incumbents from either party. Start anew.

  • Raggs

Dem’s on the run… Yup and I think they will trip over thier own laces and blame someone else… The should be sick of themselves as with the rest of the USA and use the laces for thier neck’s.

    • American Citizen

That’s the only thing Democrats do best – blame someone else for their mistakes. No matter what they say, they are responsible for the mess we’re in as they’ve been in power now the last 3 years. They just have someone in the White House now to do their bidding.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Dream on Raggs All the rebublicans needs to do is pull the dirt over their faces. They’ve done a very good job digging their graves. All their NO – No and full lack of co-operation and hoping our great country would fail has certainly done an excellent job on them. The stupid ones just did not understand if Obama and America failes so does each and every Republican fails right long with us.. They’ve found water on another planet so now i think its time for the rats to shoot off to the skies. They should remember tho – hail and brimstone will prove to be the destruction of the earth the 2nd time around and by the time the republicans get here we will all be established in the New Jerusalem My God promised me. Peace be to you and your. I’m sorry you were so short sighted.

  • ONTIME

During the Clinton years the adminsitration was to address the security problem and the airlines were saddled with the problem of instituting a acceptable solution, the money would have come from their pocket but it was not to be. Algore approached the airlines and offered them a major delay should they see fit to pony-up a sizeable donation to the campaign coffers of the Jackass party, the airlines galadly accepted and then the feds came in later to make a mess of airline security by incompetence, unionizing and stalling on purchases of equipment. All this was done on your dime, the taxpayer footed the bill again…..Looks like things haven’t changed to much, it’s just costing us taxpayers more for each scandal.

    • Raggs

Try telling the dem’s they are bankrupting the US.
After all the wealth care law will seal it.

    • JimBob

That’s the dumbest excuse I ever heard to cover up for Bush’s failure to heed his own security team’s warning about bin Laden’s lying in wait to hilack airliners in order to mount a terrorist attack on America.

      • cr747

JIMBOB,! Bush had no idea that they where going to attack the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, or where ever. Do you actually think that someone would be so low as to let that happen on purpose. Killing all those innocent people. You are insane!!!!!!!!!!

        • Claire

Realistically, I don’t think anyone knew the Twin Towers were going to be attacked. A few months after the attack I can remember the news trying to tell the public that Bush/Cheney did know beforehand. I even thought they knew beforehand. But, with media???? Sometimes you can’t depend on the media for the truth. I think we were caught asleep at the wheel. It could have happened to any President. It was a bitter lesson to be learned. And when you stop and think about it, it is one heck of a job trying to keep tabs on various individuals, suspicious people. And we do not have the manpower to do it. Therefore, I feel all of us should keep a watchful eye. Report anything that is weird /suspicious. I know I will.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Yes crt4t: I truly believe in the conspiracy theory. Too many unconnected links that do not satisify the scientific palate.
How anyone could possibly use any human being to accomplish a personal game blows my mind – but they are there, and I pity them. But all truths will be revealed. All lies will crumble and blow away with the wind but truths will stand forever.

          • Claire

Dee D–Well, I wish the truth would be revealed now, not 100 years from now.

          • http://Yahoo Dee D

I really want to be proven wrong. It breaks my heart to think that any human being can be so cruel as to use and tear apart even one family and take an innocent life for personal gain for any reason what-so-ever. I do believe the total destruction was an inside job. I think they done a survey and for some reason the bigger part of the most important employees were not at work that day. Were they warned to stay away? Who played God with so many lives? What child will not see their parent again?

          • cr747

Dee D , there you go again. Honey you know that 9/11 wasn’t an inside job. Surely no one would stoop that low. God forbid!!!!!!!!!

  • Oldfellow

It matters not who is in the White House–he is just a puppet for the Military Industrial Complex. Follow the money, some fat cats are making millions from airport security.
As for Americans being sheep, they are trained to be sheep by the school systems who’s goal is to educate workers for the sweat shops. It would be dangerous to properly educate all the people–they would overthrow the government. The sheep training is continued by the press. There is always a boogie man that the government conjures up and offers to protect the people from it as long as they give up their freedom.
As for profiling, the blue eyed, blond white girl will be felt up by every screener. The weird looking dark person who smells is left alone. To check them might be considered profiling.
The public could eliminate all the so called security at the airports by not flying. A week or two with no passengers and the airline executives would bring so much pressure on the government that you couldn’t find a security person within a mile of an airport.

    • JimBob

I think you see the bogeyman that you write about every morning when you look in the mirror. That is, if you can stand to look at yourself.

Its more than the Military Industrial Complex, Oldfellow. Its International Banking, Big Pharma, and a host of lesser entities.

When 9/11 happened, we were faced with a totally new and (to Americans) unbelievable mindset of
people who hated us so much that they were willing to “blow themselves to smithereens” or end up as
fuel for a “steel-melting fireball”, just to be able to kill as many of us as they could. It is understandable
that we had to begin to try to protect ourselves on a “trial and error” basis. We were fighting an enemy
we cannot even begin to understand in a “war” that is even more beyond our comprehension. However,
9 years later to be no better equipped to deal with the ever-increasing probability that “they” are going to succeed in their efforts is beyond belief and understanding, since we are SUPPOSED to be far better educated and equipped to handle whatever comes at us….especially given 9 years in which to figure it out. I remember one of the Russian leaders smiling as he told one of our presidents that they would “defeat us with our constitution”. I couldn’t understand how that could possibly be until I began to watch our leaders “bow and scrape” and become fearful to even appear to call things as they truly are, in fear of losing a segment of the voting population. No siree, no one dares to state the obvious (except maybe Bob and Ann Coulter), that the people who are so intent to cause us harm come from one segment of society…They are not English, Irish, Japanese, Chinese, etc….they are ALL Muslim men with names including Mohammed (usually). What is wrong with profiling them? If people who look like me,
believed like me, acted like me etc. tried to blow up planes and kill innocent people, I would EXPECT to
be profiled….actually, I would APPRECIATE being profiled if I was innocent of wrong doing….because I
would want any plane I flew on to be safe. What is wrong with the Muslim community that many of them become so incensed when we fear a Muslim is going to blow up a plane….or start shooting his
fellow soldiers? There is something badly off-kilter when people become more outraged about being
profiled than they are when one of their own commits horrendous acts of violence against others who
would not even consider causing him, or anyone, harm. Several years ago, I took flight from Atlanta,
to Los Angeles, with a stop in Charlotte. I was pulled aside in Atlanta and given a “special” going over
as was my one bag. In Charlotte, I was subjected to the same treatment. I took it all in stride, altho I
did ask how I was supposed to have gotten anything from the time we left Atlanta to Charlotte. I was
subjected to the same embarrassing scrutiny upon leaving LA and once again in Charlotte. Bear in
mind that I was 64 or 65 years of age, Caucasian female with reddish blond hair, never been in trouble
with the law, visiting my daughter. However, did I call the newspeople and squawk about how badly I
was treated? I DID NOT, as I felt they were trying to do a very difficult job…(However, I did ask the
stewardess in LA why she thought they were looking at me so closely and not the 3 men who did so
look like the guys who hijacked the planes on 9/11). Poor thing…she was as confused as I was! So much for the system working. I EXPECTED for it to take awhile to perfect a system to keep us safe…..but by now, I EXPECT that it should work! Who would have ever thought that it would become
more important to be “politically correct” in fear of offending others, that we would prefer to keep quiet
and get innocent people killed? In my opinion, the ones who were aware that there was probable
cause for alarm are MORE guilty than the perpetrator! They should be punished just like people who
cause deaths in traffic accidents etc. as negligent homicide at the very least…at Ft Hood, multiply that
by the number of people killed and injured, the ones in charge who had information of potential
danger and said nothing should be tried and convicted to the full extent of the law. If they do not have
the guts to do their gobs correctly, they should get into another line of work! I don’t know about you,
but I’m sick and tired of officials who are too cowardly to do their job and who put others at risk!

    • JC

Marty, your story is very probably a lot more prevalent than you think. I’m fully under the impression, given the circumstances, that “security” isn’t about making you and I safer, its about making the government safer “from us”. It certainly looks as though we’re being trained to “comply” to orders and do whatever we’re told more so than the people from whom we’re supposedly being protected.
If we, the American people, are supposed to be helping our own government keep us safe, and willing to do so out of a sense of unified patriotism, why then are some of the most patriotic Americans being put on secret watch lists as possible threats? I mean NRA members, supporters of liberty in general, veterans returning from over seas…
It only adds up if you look straight and hard at the obvious facts.
We’re being trained to be global citizens and the propert of the government…not free citizens and not Americans. The really sicvk part is, they’re filling us with fear and paranoia to make it happen.
“OHHHH I’m SOOOOO SCARED! GOVERNMENT PLEASE SAVE MEEEEE”
What a load of horse sh*t!

  • Robert

It’s not that I don’t trust Arabs and Muslims. I just don’t trust Arabs and Muslims. Does that make me a racist? Next time I go through the World Trade Center Path Terminal, I’ll reflect on that question. Then I’ll come to the same conclusion. I don’t trust Arabs and Muslims. And to you dear Nancy Pelosi, sleep comfortable tonight while a brave American Soldier protects your sorry A_ _. You too Barack, I can see you are really on top of the situation. When did you decide to tell us Americans how that Nigerian terrorist almost pulled it off? Between golf rounds? You should hide your face in shame.

    • JC

Does that make you a racist? No! It makes you an intelligent observer of facts.

      • Claire

I guess I am a racist. I do not trust Muslims, Islamists, none of them. Even the so-called “peaceful” ones that live a so-called peaceful life here in America. Years and years ago, Russia said we would be conquered within. Look how many are here in the States. They’ve been coming into America for years and years. Now look what is happening. We have cells in various states. You can bet I keep a watchful eye.

        • denniso

Claire…you should remember tim McVeigh who incinerated a couple hundred little kids in Oklahoma and was a good white Christian. We’ve also had white Christians like the neo nazis and militia movement and David Coresh who have killed and been responsible for deaths in our country. We know that only a tiny fraction of Muslims or Christians are terrorists or killers and we shouldn’t fall for the fearmongering that has been going on for years. If you think about it,the terrorist threat is almost non existent here and we lose thousands of Americans every year to gun violence in homes, workplaces, even schools and in road rage incidents…that’s what we should be concerned with. Little kids shot on their way to school.

          • Claire

There is good and bad in all cultures. But I still do NOT trust the Muslims.

          • cr747

denniso, guns do not kill,”people kill!!!!!!!!

And yes Claire you should be afraid of ONE MUSLIM in particular, Barrack Husein Obama. Saw a news release the other day where HE admitted being a Muslim. Wonder why the TEXAS massacre has been so hush!!!! hush!!!!????????????

        • Claire

cr747—Fort Hood was awful. People were well aware of this killer beforehand. It appears there were warning signs. Why didn’t they step forward and report it? And when it was reported to various individuals it was not acted upon. I will never understand this. If and when situations like this are reported and nothing is done about it, these people that are involved should be held accountable. If any of us see anything that is weird, we must report it and keep harping and do whatever until something is done.

  • Robert

Let’s see now. I’m a white male, age 60, clean shaven, average height and weight, dressed casually and waiting to be screened at the airport. I fly about 80 times a year on business and have been pulled for additional screening maybe 10% of the time. Airport personnel in most places I fly into and out of know me and I don’t have a problem going through additional screening. Now let’s see, male in his 20-30, bearded, jittery on security line, appears to be of middle eastern origin and speaking to himself in a foreign language. Get’s pulled to the side for additional screening and complains he’s is being profiled. Nothing suspicious found and everyone is so appologetic to this guy. What’s wrong with this picture? Or am I just paranoid?

  • Claire

I give up. It seems people are hellbent to remain divided. Americans will only take back their country when they present a united front against the corrupt politicians. Both parties have skeletons in their closets. None is better than the other. Blame this guy, blame that guy and on and on. If the Republicans had the presidency, the dems would be having a cow. The dems are in so the republicans are having the cow. I will not be voting for either party. A third party is sounding better and better.

    • JC

Eactly right Claire. This whole system is dependent on you not asking any questions. Most people don’t ask the right questions because they are mired in the debate over which party is the better one to follow.
Fact is, they are both corrupt beyong repair and the White House needs a thorough sweep of all its closets and hallways…
Red or Blue…the joke is on you!

      • Claire

JC–I mean every word I say. Americans must present a united front. If we don’t unite nothing will be accomplished. These politicians no doubt think the American people are too dumb to do anything but listen to their delusions of “great” government. Politicians tell us what we want to hear, all of them do this, not just the Dems, the Repubs do the same dang thing! I truly do not have respect for any of them. I tried, but none of them cut the mustard with me anymore. America is in dire need of good honest politicians and there are none.
We should all vote for a third party. It certainly could not be any worse, in fact it just very well be a heck of a lot better.

        • DaveH

United we stand. Have you ever thought hard about that phrase Claire? We all have different ideas, different aspirations. Whose way do we choose when we “unite”? That is why I embrace the Libertarian Party. Each person is free to choose his own path as long as he/she doesn’t trespass on the bodies or property of others. The Government in a Libertarian Society exists only to enforce volutary contracts and to protect the citizens from the force of others.
In a Socialistic society, somebody’s way must be forced on other unwilling participants.

          • Claire

DaveH—Yes, I have thought long and hard about that phrase. Of course, we are all different, we all have different ideas, aspirations, exactly what you have said. But, being united is just about the only way we Americans will succeed at getting our country back. It is not a matter of forcing anyone to do what I say or what you say. It is a matter of getting together for the sake of America. Which is best–uniting for the common good or remain divided and keep more of the same?

        • JimBob

You’re right about the politicians. If you substitute “talking heads on radio and TV” for “politicians” in your comments, that would be 100% right also. What we need is for all people to stop listening to the propaganda that both of those groups spew from their lying mouths, start studying what is really happening and begin thinking for themselves. When they do, and only when they do, will we unite as you suggest we need to do.

If there isn’t a third party option when it comes time to vote, vote out the incumbent. We need to get new blood in all political offices from coroners to presidents. Most of those in office now are there because they were either owed a favor to another politician or they now owe another politician a favor. Those that don’t fit in that category now will if allowed to hold their position or any other position in government. Radical? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely. Stop the favor-go-round and eliminate all incumbents next election. See my post January 8, 2010 at 3:34 pm.

    • coal miner

      Claire,

I agree with you.I like a party that is like the old Democratic party.Like in Johnson times. The Republican and Democratic parties are getting to be a joke. Here are some things that need to be implemented.

1: Give public assistance to factories and business
      2: Worker’s right to a union
3: The Right to bear arms
      4: Secure our borders
      5:Legalize dope
      6:Abortion
      7:Euthanasion
      8:Stem cells research
      9:Eliminate political correctness
10:Stop the war on Cigarette companies
      11:Eliminate seat belts
12:Tariffs on factories that move over seas
      13:Eliminate Nafta
14:Stop employing illegal aliens, they have to be legalize citizens before they can work
      15:We put America first

We need to come together and buy American. When you purchase made in the USA,you create jobs.We are the greatest people on earth and we can over come anything.

      • JimBob

I agree with you, but watch what you say on this blog because it is dominated by people who let the conservative radio and TV blabbermouths do their thinking and talking for them. You know Rush and Hannity would oppose nearly everything you suggested.

      • Michael J.

Coal miner, for once I agree with most of what you said except for items #1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 10 which in my opinion are all #2.

  • coal miner

    JimBob,

I ran out of replies.Way to go!It seems like every time Repulicans gets into office, every thing start to fall apart. You got embezzlement of stock markets,Housing market failures, bank, financial loan failures and industries either going under or going over seas. They got the balls to call the democrats, the party of thieves.Who winds with the people’s hard earn money? You guess it,George Bush and Dick Chaney’s friends.

    • DaveH

      Coal Miner,
You’re too old to be so clueless. The super-rich vote for Democrats (yes, the Party of Thieves, who can’t leave their hands off other peoples’ money):
      http://blogs.wsj.com/wealth/2008/10/13/the-rich-support-mccain-the-super-rich-support-obama/

      • JimBob

Why would the super rich vote for Democrats that are going to redistribute their wealth? You step on your own peepee every time you post something – a common trait of someone who lets others do his thinking.

        • DaveH

I didn’t write the article. Did you read it?

        • Michael J.

JimBob, I guess their just glutons for punishment?
Actually, Bilionaires are referred to as the super rich and becuase of their massive wealth, are involved in policy making in their seat at the roundtable at the Bilderberg club which of course makes them exempt from redistribution.. Millionaires are in the same boat as the rest of us but, a smart guy like you already that, Right?

    • DaveH

Whenever people are relieved of their money or property against their will, it is theft. I don’t care which Party commits it. It amazes me that you can’t figure that out. And I don’t care how big the gang is, it is still theft. Much of what you Liberals rail about is the result of voluntary contracts. In a free market you don’t have to buy products from the big bad rich people. But when the government gets involved and adds force to the equation, that is a whole different animal. That is theft.

      • Robert

Exactly. I would just add that forced to buy something is not only theft, it’s extortion. I guess those morons in DC watched too many Soprano’s episodes.

      • JimBob

You can bet your bottom that I am against being relieved of my money or property against my will. Is that what you think taxes are? How would you suggest that this great country operate if there aren’t taxes at every level – federal, state, county, city, townships, school districts, special districts and all other taxing entities?

This is just another post from you that you didn’t give ant thought to before putting your fingers on the keyboard. Wake up, man, and educate yourself!

        • denniso

These guys seem to think that they would prefer chaos and anarchy to a reasonably civil and functioning society.

          • c lee

Is that what you call socialism denniso , reasonable and functioning. Godd luke with that one. Let us know how it works out for ya.

          • JC

I see you have bought the Hillary line of “people are bad and must be governed or we will have chaos” BullSh*t! Guess what? If the government would get out of our everyday lives and the social engineering business…we’d all be a lot more civil and functional.

          • DaveH

We can see from Denniso and JimBob what it is like to be be governed by Liberals. Not a pretty picture.

        • DaveH

When you take peoples’ money against their will, whether you do it in a gang of 3 or a gang of 100 million it is still just theft. I wouldn’t expect an ignorant Liberal to grasp that concept.
Take a poll and see how many people would voluntarily pay for the Federal Government Spending.
It’s one thing to tax people to build roads and quite another to tax people just to give the money to somebody else who provides no services to the unwilling donor.
By the way, I’m not trying to educate you Zealots. I wouldn’t expect a Liberal to have any morality.

        • Michael J.

JimBob, How would we operate if their were not taxes at every level? I guess the same way we did prior to 1913, Einstein!

  • DaveH

    Obama hasn’t raised taxes?
Have you been living in a Cave JimBob?
On February 4, 2009 Obama signed a 156% increase in the tobacco excise tax.
There are a myriad of taxes included in the HealthCare Bill which Obama is pushing:
    http://www.heritage.org/Research/HealthCare/wm2706.cfm
And the Cap and Tax Bill which Obama is pushing is also full of proposed taxes on energy.

    • DaveH

By the way JimBob, One who is so clueless shouldn’t be calling others Ignorant. I’m not a Republican and no fan of Bush, but the Democrats have been the Tax and Spend Party since I have been of voting age (40 years ago). I gave you links to go to the House of Representatives so you can research to see how the Democrats can’t find a spending bill they don’t love. And here is one for the Senate:
      http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/a_three_sections_with_teasers/votes.htm

      • JimBob

You, know some people in forty years have forty years of experience. Others have one year of experience forty times. It’s obvious that you are part of the latter group.

Did you read these facts? Not right wing bloviation – facts. Read them. If you don’t believe them, look them up. Let it all soak in. Afterwards, if you still believe the crap you say about the Democrats being the Tax and Spend Party, you are hopeless.

        • Michael J.

JimBob, did you know there is another article on this site concerning the D.C. counsel legalizing gay rights? Figured that would be of interest.

        • DaveH

          JimBob,
Reagan tried to role back the size of Government, but the Democrats were screaming that he was “cutting the budget to the bone” when all he did was stop the spending growth. Then his own party started getting all over him because they said “he needed to compromise”. A compromise for Democrats is they offer $10 Billion in extra spending
          and accept $5 Billion.
As far as Clinton goes he just rode on the Coat Tails of the Republican Congress:
          http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=5656

I gave you the Congressional links so you could see for yourself who the Big Spenders are, but I realize that would be too much work for a lazy Liberal.

JimBob, I know I waste my time explaining anything to you as you are a blind Zealot and you are dumber than the dirt on your bare feet.

  • Robert

If u cross the north Korean border illegally u get 12 years hard labor…if u cross Iranian border illegally u get detained indefinitly….cross the Afghan border u get shot ….cross the Saudi border u will be jailed …..cross the Chinese border u will never be heard from again….cross the Venezuelan border u will b branded a spy and your fate sealed…cross the Cuban border u will b thrown n prison to rot…..however ..cross the U.S. border illegally…u get a
job, a drivers license, a social security card, welfare benefits, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized rent or a loan to buy a new house, free education, free healthcare, the right to vote, and all without speaking a word of english…..makes ya think a little bit huh? My solution. Shoot em at the border!

    • Claire

Robert—You are so correct. No more illegals, round them up and send them back where they came from.

      • JimBob

Let’s include those with visas and green cards along with the illegals.

        • DaveH

At least those illegals are working for their money, unlike the Democrats you Champion JimBob.

          • JimBob

            How dumb is that!

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Claire: But first implant a stick of dynomite with a short fuse and be sure to light it before placing them on a one round trip plane ride. All kidding aside , I do not want even one drop of there blood on my hands . I choose to have my God judge me with a pure clean heart.

        • Claire

DeeD–You are right, I don’t want their blood on my hands either.

        • DaveH

          Dee and Claire,
While I don’t condone them being in this country illegally, keep in mind that they are human too. I have personally witnessed illegal workers and they worked their rears off. They worked much harder than most lazy Americans will work and for less money.
The reason they are here is because Mexico is heavily Regulated like Denniso thinks it should be here. That heavy regulation stifles their economy. We should learn from Mexico’s mistakes instead of aspiring to be like them as JimBob and other ignorant Liberals do.
          http://www.heritage.org/index/

          • JimBob

You just keep showing your ignorance, don’t you.

          • denniso

DaveH…I’m glad to see a humanitarian comment from you, though it’s not really rocket science that illegals are human. But it’s probably true that given the hatred directed toward them, people do need to be reminded of that simple fact.
I’m not an expert on Mexico, though I know something about it,but I would guess that their economy is less regulated then ours and that is not why they are having problems..if you know specifics, let me know.

    • JimBob

I agree with you on that issue, Robert. Let’s start tomorrow with armed citizens standing on 6′ centers at the southern and northern borders.

Let’s stop all of the visas – work visas, student visas, family visas and all the other alphabet of visas that the government issues.

While we are at it, let’s stop being a political asylum for anyone who claims they are endangered in their native country too. Most of them lie about their plight so they can stay here and be supported by the taxpayers.

      • Michael J.

JimBob, Careful, keep talkin like that and the lefties here will tear you limb from limb, turn your name over to Chris Matthews and feed you to the taxmongers.

    • c lee

Let me know when they start looking for volenteers to man the boarders. Ill bring my own equipment its far better than anything the govt issues.

  • JimBob

How does a raise in tobacco tax qualify as “redistribution of wealth?” As for the other issues you mentioned, neither has been enacted and there is no assurance that they will. Just because Obama supports them, neither of which would qualify as a “redistribution of wealth” anyway, doesn’t mean that they will pass. He backs the White Sox and Bears, but what how did they do?

Again, you are listening to the blabber-mouth conservative radio and TV talking heads and letting them do your thinking for you. Try using the God-given brain that I assume you have and quit being as dumb as they are.

    • cr747

Thank GOD we have some one else to listen to other than you!!!!!!! Did you get dropped on your head when you were a BABY? You must have, because what you are talking about sure does not make sense!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Michael J.

JimBlab, the point is you said”Obama hasn’t raised ANY taxes” in one post and then admitted that he has raised cigarette taxes in the next post. Which is another in a long line of broken campaign promises because studies show that the vast majority of smokers earn less than $250,000. Is lying genetic for you people or just political? If Time magazine were to cover the Oman’s fibbing practices, they would have to put him on the front and the back cover.

      • c lee

I get it hes lieing comming and going. So to sum it up your saying hes just a lier. Ill have to agree with that. But thats not all he is so we all better be ware.

  • http://shortmaryann78@hotmail.com Maryann

I have read 80% of what has been written. Let me make some predictions. Most of you are aware as to what is happening in this country but there a more people not aware at all. The majority of the people will see the light when it is too late. Normal times will never come back. It is too late because we have chosen to take the wrong path. The corruptness started after world warII and evil come into this country and congress became corrupt
and today more than ever in history. Obama doesn’t care what the American people think of him or anything that is going on in this country. Makes you think who is he working for. Ask yourself some hard questions. I have read the full text of the health care bill. I am a senior and I am afraid of what is to come in the future. No, congress has not read any of the medical bills presented to them. You have to understand that no congressman nor President will ever be under the health care bill just us sheepl’s. It again is too late for us not enough people objected. Is there a promise to vote ALL politicions out of office? Might be too late by 2012. Some of you are not aware that you have been programed to think
socialist. The word communism was changed to socialism and socialism was changed to liberalism. There is a new research called “Fusion Energy” Scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Lab are now working on it. TEN GALLONS OF WATER COULD PRODUCE AS MUCH ENERGY AS A SUPERTANKER OF OIL. Do you think this miracle could happen this year for the benefit of the people? I say not while the likes of Rockerfeller who owns Exxon and Chase Credit Card Companies. Oil is planned to go sky high. The year 2010 will be tremendously important toward 2012. I pray every day that the people will get rid of thier credit cards. Pay your bills up and live frugaly.

If you are a senior, you have Medicare. How does that work for you? Why don’t you want your children and grandchildren to have the same benefits? Is it because you are stingy? What’s the deal?

Who programmed us to think socialist? Rush Limbaugh? Sean Hannity? Charles Krauthammer? Cal Thomas? Who? Are you aware of the fact that since the beginning of the 20th century, we had a Republican president the majority of the time? Are they the one who have programmed us to be communists?

Maryann, explain yourself. Where did you come up with this ridiculousness?

      • Claire

JimBob–My husband is on Medicare along with a supplement. He has had numerous surgeries, etc. It has worked wonderfully well. And yes, I would want the same for my kids and the grandkids. The government has dipped into Medicare/Social Security so many times. That is why these programs are in the shape they are in. The government just can’t leave well enough alone.

        • c lee

You tell em sister. I like mine as well but its not going to be there much longer.

          • Claire

c lee–I know it won’t be here much longer. It is a dirty shame. Another classic example of the government’s destruction.

          • JimBob

What kind of crystal ball are you using?

          • c lee

Its called common sense and the ability to understand whats happening right before your eyes. Not being a sheep and thinking for yourself.

      • c lee

Ya know man I dont know anything about you except what I can get out of what you post on here but with that being said I can tell you dont have a clue ya get it you are clueless so Ill tell you the sanme thing I told your buddy denniso let us know how socialism works out for ya only thing is you will have to get it somewhere else because We The People Of The United States Of America Say Show Us Liberty Or Show Us Death. Get a clue or shut up. How do ya like me now?

        • JimBob

If you don’t get from what I post that I am not a doom-and-gloom prophet like most of the other people who type on their pessimistic keyboards to make murkily dark posts with no substance and that I have a lot of confidence in the American people and this great country of ours, you are the one who is clueless.

You uninformed people who listen to the blabbermouths instead of using your lazy brains are the only ones who are unhappy and have the attitude of losers. You listen to Rush and his ilk and then toss the ‘s’ word around like you know what it means. Socialism is governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. In order to have socialized medicine, for example, the government would have to own the hospitals, medical clinics, labs, convalescent homes, therapy clinics and all other medical related facilities. The doctors, nurses, therapists, technicians and even the janitors who clean the hospitals, clinics and medical office would be government employees.

But that’s okay that you keep shooting off your mouths and posting you stupid comments. That helps the rest of us who use our own heads to sort out the no-brain bad apples.

          • c lee

And if you dont think thats were its headed num nuts then your the one thats clueless. I dont have to listen to anyone but obamma to see hes a dam liar and we should be aware of whats happening to us, and make no mistake I fear no one. As far as anyone worring about you weeding out the bad apples first you have to be able to see past the nose on your face and loose that sheep mentality.

          • Michael J.

JimBob, So I guess the”Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republic” was a democracy, heh?
Socialism, Progressivism and Liberalism are all merely waystops on the road to Communism, no matter what your college professor told you.

      • DaveH

Only a Liberal could believe that adding Government regulators to the HealthCare system is going to make HealthCare better and Cheaper.
When I was a kid 50 years ago, we had none of that and we got along quite fine. Government has created the HealthCare problems we now have with all their meddling in the marketplace. Big Government is the problem, not the solution. Here is a real solution:

        • JimBob

It doesn’t matter to most of those who post on this blog if what they write is factual or not. Most of them read what the others post and what the talking heads speak bombastically on TV and radio and profess it to be the gospel truth. Even when the facts are laid out for them, they still have no clue. Reading the idiocy that most of them write is comedic to me; otherwise, I wouldn’t waste my time.

Hey stupid, didn’t you ever hear of Medicare? Ask your daddy and granddaddy if they want to give it up.

Have you heard of the Veterans Administration? Ask a qualified veteran if they want to give up their medical benefits.

How about Medicaid, have you heard of that? Ask the mother of a handicapped child if she thinks like you do.

After you do those things, you can post a reply to this and tell the world how wrong you are. Most of us already know how smart (NOT!)someone is who uses the blog of an Austrian School of economics and libertarian political and social theory to reinforce their assertions.

          • c lee

And where do you get your facts genius by listening to obamma? And you dont hear any lies being told. And you agree with our govt. circumventing your right to know whats being pushed upon you with no tranceparency. Like I said thats a sheep, or a better annaligy would be a mushroom, they feed you shi? and keep you in the dark and your ok with that? Well Iam not so sorry.

          • DaveH

Of course Ignorant people are going to take free money any day. They don’t know that the Government can’t give them money without taking it from somebody else.
In your case I suspect it’s more immorality than it is ignorance.
Eventually our economy will collapse because the hard-working people, seeing no real reward for their efforts, will join the slackers. That is how it always happens in Welfare States.
You are a nit-wit JimBob. To call you stupid is an insult to stupid people.

          • coal miner

            JimBob,

Once you again you are right. No way I give up my coal miner’s pension and Social Security, which both amounts almost three thousnd dollars a month.JimBob,these people like to talk about the evils of social security retirement, but how many these blowhearts would give it up.Talk is cheap, but doing it, is another thing. I like to ask how many of you would call the Social Security Administration and cancel your monthly checks.

          • denniso

Socialism…people throw the word around like a firebomb to destroy any rational discussion, and most people don’t know what it is…it’s being used as a fearmongering tatic by the rightwing to try to effect social policy negatively for all of us. For those who don’t know, almost everthing all societies do have an element of ‘socialism’,or communalism, but that does not make a particular society ‘socialist’ as we define that term. People paying taxes that go toward the betterment of society, like road construction, the military, help to the poor, water treatment plants, police and fire protection and more, are part of any civilized country, large or small. To call us socialist then is incorrect and very misleading and basically a lie designed to scare people. We should be able to debate specific aspects of our society and policies that are worthy or not w/o manipulating people w/ lies. Read JimBob’s comment above on what socialism actually is…

      • Michael J.

JimBob, you should read the 2500 page health care bill like Maryann has before blithering away like you do. Most of us have a filter between the brain and the mouth which prevents stupid remarks from being spoken. I guess you never realized you had a birth defect.

“Who programmed us to think Solcialists?” Ahh, that would be Woodrow Wilson, Einstein!

      • Claire

JimBob–are you referrring to me regarding a crystal ball?

        • JimBob

Yes, Claire, I am referring to you. You and all the other idiots who profess that they know what the short and long term future holds when they have no idea of what tomorrow will bring.

          • Claire

JimBob—If I am an idiot, what are you? And if you profess to know it all, exactly what will the future hold?
If we are all idiots, why are you here wasting your precious time? Perhaps you are the idiot after all.

          • Claire

Why are you so full of hate? I believe we all have a right to our opinion on this site. After all, don’t the rest of us here have freedom of speech? You apparently think you have more freedom of speech than anyone.
Well, welcome to the real world. Things don’t always go your way you know.

          • DaveH

JimBob is just the typical Liberal who can’t carry on a discussion without engaging in personal attacks.
Study these Liberals well. You can just imagine what it would be like if we let them have absolute power.
Actually it is to our benefit that they post on this board. With their nasty comments we learn how truly devoid of morality and human decency they are.

          • cr747

I believe JimBob, and denniso are brothers, joined at the head with one brain for both bodies!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • cr747

Yes Claire JimBob is the complete idiot here. He is the most irate person,”well along with denniso,” that I have ever seen. He contradicts himself quite often.
Claire pay no attention to them!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • DaveH

Are you aware, Ignorant Liberal, that Democrats have controlled Congress (all of Congress) 22 out of the last 32 Congresses? And Congress passes the laws.
        http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovernment/l/bl_party_division_2.htm

    • Michael J.

Maryann, Thank you very much for your words of wisdom.

      • JimBob

What are you thinking? Maryann’s words of wisdom? What she wrote makes no more sense than you do. There is no such thing as a “2500 page health care bill.” The House bill is 1,990 pages, and the Senate bill is 2,074 pages. Those are double spaced pages with 1” margins. I have seen and read both bills on normally typed pages – 12 point font, 60 lines per page – and neither one were even 500 pages long. It’s obvious that you haven’t read them, and I seriously doubt from what Maryann wrote that she did either.

The stupidest comment you made (maybe the stupidest on this blog) is that Woodrow Wilson “programmed us to think Solcialists (sic).” There is no way in hell that Woodrow Wilson could have programmed you, me or anyone alive today. That is, unless you or they have been reincarnated. I wouldn’t doubt that some of the people writing on this blog believe they were because it’s obvious that many believe anything.

        • DaveH

You’ve read the Bills and you didn’t know they were full of tax increases? Sure. Liberals are Liars. I think you just proved you are.

          • JimBob

You put words in my mouth! There is nowhere that I wrote that the bills don’t contain tax increases! You didn’t read what I wrote; you made up what you think I should have written. That is exactly what blabbermouth talking heads do, too – put words in mouths and take things out of context to prove their point. Your creed appears to be that when you can’t make your point by quoting facts, make something up. That’s why it’s impossible to have a reasonable discussion with people like you. It does no good to tell you something because you already know what you want everything to mean.

Yes, DaveH, I have read both bills cover to cover more than once and many specific sections many times. You ought to try reading them for yourself and get the facts right from the horse’s mouth instead of listening to the conservative jerks like Moosehuntress Palin who says it creates “death panels.”

          • http://N/A James

David H. you are so right. Our friend proved, himself, that he was a liar by his second paragraph below. He’s never read all of either of the two bills. Many senators haven’t read through them completely. And Palan is right, call them what you will, but they are “death panals” or whatever. Why in the world are seniors so scared, so against, the bills. Its simply because stuck away in the bills are the plans to deny serously ill elderly people, medicine and doctor’s care. Obama’s bill plans on paying for his medicare plan by saving money in denying seniors medical care. By controlling
how much doctors and hospitals can be paid by medicare for treatment of the elderly.

        • Michael J.

JimBob, Woodrow Wilson was a self proclaimed progressive who was responsible for the creation of the Federal Reserve and the Internal Revenue Service. He also campaigned for the creation of the League of Nations.

  • DaveH

Look at the life expectancy charts in this Wikipedia article. We live on average 20+ years longer than our ancestors just 100 years ago. And still the Liberals cry and whine about our HealthCare system. They won’t be happy until they tax and spend our economy into 3rd World status:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Expectancy

  • MadMax

    To Maryann,

You are a bright young lady. Don’t let the information you have found in you investigation scare you into submission. Spread the word of your knowledge to all you know. Americans have been duped by the corrupted media for too long. Say just enough to make people mad and hopefully they will go to youtube, google, etc. and find out for themselves that they have been deceived.
In regards to the Nat. Health Care, many states legislatures are starting the process of nullification. The problem is we need 38+ states to begin the conflict of States rights and Federal Government rights. The battle would end up at the Supreme Court where it would be deemed unconstitutional. Anything less than three quarters majority, the Feds can cut funding and force contesting states to “adhere” to this bad law. We need the “Tea Party” people and all good men and women to come to the aid of their country now!!!
“It’s not over, until it’s over” don’t give in to fear. Tell people and pressure your state government to do the right thing. Go to the tenthamendmentcenter.com and read “Resist DC: a Step-by Step plan for freedom”.

  • Wolf B.

This JUST is NOT FACTUAL…Airline personell get the same tedious search and perfunctury treatment, ESPECIALLY if they are from MUSLIM or Asian countries…so get your facts. Wolf. retired now….ex TSA

        jimbob

you and your buddy denniso (you and he could be the same person) keep insulting people and accusing anyone who listens to rush and any other conservative talk show host as being brain dead unable to think for their self and rush speaks untruth’s, well my friend lots of your liberal comrades have tried to counter rush with the same accusations , but isn’t it strange so far they have failed to find him or beck wrong. how many liberal talk shows succeed on the air waves, even the tv news shows hosted by the liberals are in the tank, one reason they fail, they can’t speak the truth snd their socialistic idea’s are not acceptable to a free country. you sound like a disgruntled person and i suggest you listen to rush because he’s right and happy to say your wrong. now see i didn’t insult you and i told the truth.

        • JimBob

The reason nobody can find Rush or Beck wrong is because they shout anyone who has half a brain down and cut them off the air so their dimwitted audiences can’t hear a reasonable side to the issues. That is, if they let them come on the air at all. I have called lrushbaugh on several occasions over the past twenty years or more but can’t get past his screeners. They don’t want anybody who has a chance of showing up their boss to be heard and allow only those who will suck up to him and will tell him how great he is on the air. I have also sent him numerous emails questioning his facts, and not one has ever been acknowledged.

What makes Rush, Beck, Hannity, Olbermann, Matthews and others like them successful is that people who are unable to think for themselves are regular listeners and viewers. People who are intelligent enough to gather research material from multiple sources, read and study the material before coming to a conclusion don’t have much time for the talking heads.

It’s amazing that you chastise me for calling it like I see it while defending your conservative talking head heroes who do the same thing for hours every day. Every time that I tune them in, that is all I see and hear them do. I wonder how you reconcile that hypocrisy.

Finally, I’ll tell you like I told Claire on January 10, 2010 at 9:55 pm. I call a spade what it is. If I wasn’t honest about what I know and about my opinions, I would be a lot like the dolts that I condemn for letting others do their thinking for them. I can’t and won’t apologize for that. Make sense?

          • chuck b

            jimbob

agree people should think for their selves and research to prove what they read, how do you ascertain what is right and what is wrong by reading leftwing newspapers and listening to olbermann and mathews they have an audience next to nothing. fox news couldn’t stay on the air nor rush or beck if they started spouting out lies and distortions, your assertions are to the contrary. they didn’t get top ratings by telling falsehoods and i don’t have to defend them and don’t defend them, i seldom listen to either, but i respect their politics and from what i have heard sounds good to me. its hard enough to find truth in the politics of today and i certainly can’t say the majority of reporting from abc, cnn, nbc is fair and balanced. its not that they don’t tell the truth its the emphasis they put on stories to make you think and doubt the validity of the truth. i think abc is probably the biggest propagandist machine in the country they even make cnn take a back seat and their talking heads bounce the news back and forth like a football and they really can twist it.

          • denniso

It’s interesting and telling that most rightwingers believe everything that Limbaugh spouts and don’t believe the actual journalists reporting and investigating every day. How is it that they can think one guy,not a journalist, really knows all the truth on all the issues and dozens of smart and hardworking real reporters don’t know anything because they’re ‘biased’??? Does it not ocurr to them that they are listening to a single biased source?? I guess not.

    • http://N/A James

Wolf B., I was wondering about his statement too. Being a pilot myself, commercial, not Air Transport, licensed, I have friends who are Airline Captains and First Officers. They complain, just like a lot of us common folk about being searched themselves before they can get on their aircraft. One I know even had a nail file and fingernail clippers taken away from him. Who was he going to cut or stab? Himself!?! Security procedures are often filled with a great deal of stupidity. Personnel have a lot to do with that. Some of your great, late, companions were no better than Wachenhutt Renta-cops. Train them all you want but there is no cure for stupidity.

  • JimBob

Read my comment to Michael J. above. The same applies to you and your words of foolishness.

  • http://Yahoo Dee D

Chow time all. Pleasant dreams and restful sleep for all. Thanks for all the input – I will do a lot of thinking before I nod off to la la land. Thank you all and God bless.
I’ll leave with this joke – hope it gives you a laugh. The preacher was in the pulpit delivering his serman – the congregation was listening to every word, when with a big gust of wind the doors flew open with a big bang and who walks in but lucifer himself. the church emptied itself , including the preacher. all that remained was an 80 year old lady who sat as still as a church mouse. lusifer walked up to her and asked “Do you know who I am? Yep, came the reply. Aren’t you afraid of me? Nope, came the reply.
“You know I can cause you a lot of pain and make you wish you were dead. Yep,came the reply. “And you still are not afraid of me? Nope, came the reply. “THEN WHY ARE YOU NOT AFRAID OF ME”. lISTEN UP lICIFER- i’VE LIVED WITH YOUR BROTHER FOR OVER 60 YEARS AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO ME HE HAS ALREADY DONE – SO GET OUT OF MY WAY OR I WILL START GIVING MY PAY BACK, I’M A FAST LEARNER.

  • Claire

DaveH–Some people have no manners at all, let alone any respect for anything nor anyone. Thank God I am not his Mother. This guy’s actions make me so proud of my son!!! My son is a gentleman, he is brilliant, has manners, and has respect for others and America.

    • JimBob

Claire, I’ll address this and your earlier comments. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion like I am mine. I would never stand in your way of expressing yours, but it seems like you don’t want me to express mine.

To me a spade is a spade, and I will call it a spade no matter whose toes I step. It’s my opinion that palm readers, tarot card readers, psychics, fortune tellers and anyone else who professes to know the future fit in the same class. Every one of them is an idiot. If that makes me something other than a brilliant gentleman who has manners and respect for others and America, so be it. I’ll still call it a spade.

Claire, I’m sorry that I hurt your feelings, but if you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen or don’t make idiotic statements about what is going to happen like you did. You don’t know what tomorrow will bring any better than anyone else.

      • Claire

First of all, don’t flatter yourself. You did not hurt my feelings in the least. I have not made that many replies to your comments and you know it. By all means, express yourself any way you want and whenever you want. I do not care. To me a spade is a spade also, and you have have to admit the future does not look too favorable. And don’t place me in the category of a palm reader, you know better than that. If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen yourself.

        • JimBob

The future only looks unfavorable to those who are pessimists and doomsayers. Me, I can’t wait until tomorrow because life gets better every day. I’m sorry that you are so pitiful.

          • Claire

Me pitiful? Not hardly. You are the pitiful one. You are so unhappy with yourself it is showing. You attack everyone and call them names, especially when they have their own opinions. It is so noticeable. You act like Rush yourself. Pot calling the kettle black. At least I don’t carry on with constant psychobabble.

      • Claire

Oh, by the way, did we not agree that we could express our opinions freely? Now you are telling me not to make idiotic statements. I suggest you practice what you preach.

        • cr747

Claire, JimBob speaks with a forked tounge!!!!!!!! He lets his a– overload his mouth. It keeps him from telling the truth. You stated it like it was, and he turned it around on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Claire

cr747–I looked through my posts and I did not find where I supposedly predicted the future. Oh well, chalk it up as another rude awakening. Take care.

          • JimBob

If you think you can blow holes in any facts that I have presented, go for it. If you don’t like my opinions, that’s a different matter, but you can’t call an opinion a lie.

          • denniso

..surprise,another asinine remark! You really should try to think a little rather than showing your clear lack of intellect.Think about it,since you say you’re an attorney.

          • JimBob

            denniso,

Who do you say claims to be an attorney?

          • denniso

JimBob…cr747 says he is an attorney and has multiple offices around the country and flies in his own 747,4 of them..he doesn’t sound like an attorney to me when he rants as he does.
Good comments that I’ve see,JimBob, keep it up.

          • denniso

Claire…Medicare will stay alive if we continue to fund it in the future and the repubs don’t get their way. If given the chance they would get rid of it because it doesn’t fit their ‘free market’ ideology. If you remember,Bush and the repubs tried to privatize social security a few years ago,not long before the market collapsed..now,imagine the catastrophe if that had happened and people had invested their SS retirement in the stock market…If we give in to the rightwing mantras of ‘free market’ and ‘no taxes’ and ‘small gov’t’,then we could lose vital programs like SS and medicare and medicaid.
I think JimBob hasn’t seen enough of your posts to know yet that you’re not a rightwing reactionary like some of these others here. I think he’ll cut you some slack and I hope you’ll do the same for him. We calmer and sane people should stick together when we can against the true blowhards that spout threats and hatred.

Hi Coal…you may be right about cr747. He sounded plausible when he said what he does and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, until proven otherwise. When he rants like he does he sure doesn’t sound very educated, but who knows??

    • cr747

Hey, you guys, I’m trying to talk your language. If I chose the words that as a lawyer uses, then it would be so far over your heads that you three or four blowhards wouldn’t understand anything I was saying!!!!!!!!
By the way denniso that’s three 747′s not four!!!!!!!!!!

So I use the KISS theory for you few that don’t understand what is going on in Washington!!!!!!!

      KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • cr747

coal miner, do you come from the same family tree as JimBob and denniso? Sure does sound like it!!!!!!!!!!!

    • cr747

coal miner, you know, I spent twenty two years serving my country!!!!!! Most of it was in Vietnam. I was a fighter pilot. I flew many covers for our service men, and I saw a lot of them die. I saw a lot of them mangled. My nickname was cr, some of the ones I flew cover for gave me that name. The nickname cr stood for crazy. They said I was crazy for some of the areas I covered for them. Yes I got hit a few times, but always made it back in. At times I didn’t know whether I was going to or not. But those guys that where surrounded out there with no way out. I couldn’t leave them there for Charlie co. to over take them. If you could have seen how some of those guys were treated after they where captured, you would understand.
They would cut their testicles off and stick them in their mouths, drive wooden stakes through their bodies. I wake up nights at times in a cold sweat. I said that to say this, If any of you guys where out there, and you where some of those guys that couldn’t get out then I hope that some of those five hundred pound bombs that I dropped around you, or some of the hot lead that knocked Charlie Co. on his a–, I can only say, give GOD the glory for it. I’m proud you made it out alive. There’s a lot of them that wasn’t so fortunate, and also some are still MIA.
I’m a big boy, call me what ever you want. I can take it!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

I sincerely appreciate your service to America. I had heard about the torture. It was always something that was not reported like it should have been. This is exactly why I believe waterboarding is nothing compared to what these people did to American soldiers. Like I said before, we are a civilized country, but some other countries do not believe like we do. Therefore, in times of war, we must take care of our soldiers first, and if waterboarding helps save American soldiers’ lives, then we do what we must.

Claire, water boarding is a very mild form of getting an answer from the terrorist that has infiltrated our nation. So much so, compared to what the terrorist have done to our soldiers. Dragging them around town behind vehicles, chopping off their heads, and who knows what they went through before they where killed. Terrorist have no conscious what so ever.

I am beginning to believe our GOVERNMENT also has no conscious either. The American people do not, “get this,” do not deserve what they are pushing on us, or pushing us into.

I agree that water boarding is not as harsh as they are leading us to believe.

Denniso–I do hope Medicare and Social Security do not fall by the wayside. I remember when they tried to “privatize” it too. I am going to read this Health Reform bill and find out for myself. Since my husband is on Medicare along with the Blue Cross Blue Shield supplement, we only have had to pay a small amount for the medication that he is on. Social Security is a good program too. I know numerous senior couples from church and they would be devastated without these programs. A lot of people just do not realize that the elderly will really suffer without Social Security, etc. My husband and I will be just fine, but I worry about others. So save money while you are young and plenty of it! One day when I went to CVS Pharmacy to pick up my husband’s medicine, an elderly couple was there, their cost was $ 400.00 for their medication! The lady was really upset and her husband said “don’t worry” we will be o.k. It really bothered me. We pay for Medicare and Social Security. The government does not have the right to dip into this money, but they have. I didn’t come on this site to argue and fight. I am on this site because I do respect everyone’s opinion and I enjoy the people.

Hi Claire…It would be nice if people here would actually try to listen and maybe learn from others..none of us knows everything. But, unfortunately, there are plenty here that only want to deride and condemn people and it degenerates into name calling..pity. Claire you’ve always been civil..thanks.

denniso–I was flipping channels, stopped on MSNBC and Ed Schultz was slamming Obama and Katherine van Heuvel ?? from The Nation newsletter was grousing too. They feel Obama is off base, and they discussed the fact that Obama has committed political suicide–the taxes on the middle class regarding Health Reform. I’m not being hateful, just thought I would let you know.

Claire…that’s what the Dems do. They never stick together like the majority of Repubs do because they are made up of a greater variety of people. The left wants Obama to be more agressive for their ideas and moderates and Repubs think he is too radical. He has a hell of a time trying to please anyone. I say give him a chance and be patient..he still looks like a genius compared to what we had for 8 yrs.

          • cr747

Hussein Obama a genius? Come on your surely not that dense. Give me a break. Anyone that would make comments about someone or, something before he knows the facts is a complete jackass. He is one of the most uneducated human beings that has ever sh$$ behind a pair of shoes!!!!!!!!!!

GIVE ME A BREAK. ALSO YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO WHAT IS GOING ON IN WASHINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Denniso, I was in Germany when Adolph Hitler was making all his great speeches and promises to the German people. I am truly scared
of Obama, for he sounds dangerously similar to little Adolph, not in what he says but in the way he projects it, hypnotizing thousands of ordinary German citizens to believe in him, follow him, do whatever he asked of them.
From what I see here, there are already some here coming under Obama’s spell.

          • cr747

James, I think I responded to one of your comments above.
I to believe Obama is not to be trusted, or is being straight forward with the people of the United States. If you will notice when he is talking to someone he tends to look over them, or to one side of them. He never will look directly into their eyes. That tells me that he is hiding something. I do know that he is a Muslim, he has admitted that. People had better keep an eye on him, and watch his moves. He, to me is a dangerous man that definitely does not deserve to be president. Why would a president tell a nation that we are engaged in war with,,, when he was going to withdraw his troops. I believe that he, being a Muslim was letting a Muslim nation know our every move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if this underwear bomb was never supposed to go off? What if Abdulmutallab was not sent to Detroit by Muslim Extremists? Isn’t it very convenient that Obama is now able to continuously announce, the security system failed and the government has to place even more restrictions on citizens, limiting our freedom more and more and more… Didn’t we learn WAY AFTER CHRISTMAS, Abdulmutallab’s father had supposedly warned the US embassy about his son in November? I don’t believe ANYTHING anymore!

    • denniso

Please Margaret, you’re sounding like the people who thought and still think that Cheny/Bush planned 9/11…that’s over the line.
