Adidas Cancels Release Of ‘Slave Shoes’
FACEBOOK
Designer Jeremy Scott says the JS Roundhouse Mid was inspired by My Pet Monster.

Adidas has decided not to sell the JS Roundhouse Mid after Jesse Jackson threatened a protest, calling them “slave shoes.”

Beverly Hills designer Jeremy Scott created the shoe with shackles. He says the style was inspired by a cartoon and toy from the 1990s—My Pet Monster. Scott, who is known for outfitting Lady Gaga, said he is frequently inspired by childhood cartoons.

But Jackson thinks that racism is behind the design, and he is upset that Adidas would use slavery to make a profit. He writes for The Huffington Post, “These slave shoes are odious and we as a people should be called to resent and resist them. If put into production and placed on the market, protests and pickets signs will follow. Adidas cannot make a profit at the expense of commercialized human degradation.”

Despite a few who have jumped on the bandwagon, Jackson is largely standing alone. Fashion designers have been quick to come to Scott’s defense, noting his eclectic style.

The shoe, which Adidas had planned to sell for $350, will not go on store shelves despite 38,000 “likes” on the company’s Facebook page.

Jesse Jackson needs to get a life!

    • Rocky Night

Jesse is able to make money off of racism so why can’t anyone else?

      • old hillbilly

We need to get a pair of left foot shoes – one for jessie & one for al – chain them together & see if they can run around in circles like they’ve been doing to the USA since way back when………

      • Vigilant

Karolyn, in one of her more lucid moments, says, “Jesse Jackson needs to get a life!”

I would say he needs to get a life sentence.

    • http://yahoo mike

Wow Jesse Jackson thinks something is race related! How unusual.

  • OLD DAD

Jesse Jackson is a racebaiting, self serving moron and should be ignored, especially by the black community, who he has victimized all of his life for the sake of his own financial and egomaniacle gain.

    • skippy

Very well said Old Dad….Amen!! :)

  • Jonathan

ADIDAS – All Day I Dream About…Slavery? Yeah right, that’s what was going through his head. Sure, and I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, cheap.

  • Scott in SC

“upset they would use slavery to make a profit”?….I thought that was the point of slavery.

But really, what idiot or group of idiots at Adidas would actually approve of such a hideous footwear design.

    • eddie47d

Those who buy shoes or even clothes know most come from 3rd world countries. In essence very cheap and low paid workers make those $350.00 shoes and are paid squat. That would be considered “slave labor” to some so this is more than ironic. The executives at Adidas and Nike make a handsome profit out of this all. This is just another case of Corporate Integrity having no integrity.

      • Curt

You call it “slave labor”, they call it “employment”. In many of those countries they are lucky to have any jobs at all. Oh, and Obama wants to take 800,000 more jobs from Americans to give to illegals. eddie47d, are you going to give up your job for an illegal?
Let’s get over all this “racism’ and ‘slavery’ b.s. already.

      • eddie47d

I’m retired and worked 40 years for the same company and no illegals worked there. The Egyptians had full employment under the Pharaoh’s too. They sure were mad when the Jews got wise and left. That upset their employment applecart. Just because someone has a job doesn’t mean that the man behind the curtain (CEO) is treating the workers fairly.

      • old hillbilly

why not send the 800,000 illegals to China -that’s where the bushes, clintons, & BO plenty sent the jobs!!! lots or room – enough for relatives & possessions in walmart’s return empty super ships – they need some cargo & passengers

      • Vigilant

eddie says, “Those who buy shoes or even clothes know most come from 3rd world countries. In essence very cheap and low paid workers make those $350.00 shoes and are paid squat.”

Son, don’t you know that those 3rd world workers would have no job at all, or a much lower paying one, if it weren’t for these US companies? These folks aren’t working to buy flat screen TVs or lottery tickets, they’re working to put food on the table, and they’re mighty thankful for the work.

The shoe companies aren’t exploiting these people, they’re guaranteeing their survival. Get over the socialist idea that everyone in the world should be equally poor. These folks would be mighty irritated if pressures from Pollyannas ike you resulted in them losing their livelihoods.

Since when has that black fool jessie jackson become a fashion elite..anything to play the race card. Maybe the fool feels his horrible name has not been in the public eye often enough in the past month. Enough already.

  • Witsend

I would certainly never buy that ugly shoe. It joins the ranks of most of the ugly shoes on the market today – Actually, it looks much better than many. However, only a racist such as Jackson would see racism in it. I think Adidas is making a mistake by pulling it off the market – they should not support racism; pulling the shoe is supporting racism. Guess they (Adidas) are between a rock and a hard place!

  • http://bleuhaus.wordpress.com beatlikeadog

Jesse Jackson and his gay partner Al Sharpten should use their brother Ovomit’s gay-marriage act and just go ahead and make it legal…
Go ahead and get married because we all know they’re already joined at the hip…

Why Fuss & Fight anymore when the Race Card has already gotten them what they wanted…To be joined as Man & Woman…I mean as Bro & Fro…

  • hambone

I can kind of see Jackson point of view about the shoe. But when it comes right down to it
Jackson will use the race card where he sees fit too. As far as the shoe goes, I really don’t see many people buying them. Maybe Jackson did Adidas a favor.

  • CHARLES TOMEI

I thought Jackson was busy marching in front of the gun shops,I just can’t see how he has the time for all the protests and marches.I guess Obama must have given “executive privelege” and endorsed Jackson.

  • Chester

HEY YOU GUYS!! Want to know where Adidas got that idea, other than from the cartoons? Take a good look at the prison system, where it is not terribly uncommon to wear shackles when you get to go outside, like to court or the hospital. Hiphop calls it “jailin’ cool” which goes for the saggy pants thing, which, by the way, has been around since the 80′s, or before. Comes from having your belt and shoe laces taken when you are booked in, which means, if your pants aren’t fairly snug to begin with, they are going to sag. That is also where the style of wearing your sneaks unlaced comes in, along with a few other things. When kids grow up in an area where two thirds of the males have spent some time in prison, and two thirds of the remaining third have been arrested and spent some time in city or county jails, it gets to be cool to look like you are still there. Not a good idea in my opinion, but these kids mostly only have one parent at home, and she is busy trying to make ends meet so they don’t lose their little apartment that she can barely afford as is. It isn’t the ones on welfare who go for this, as their moms are generally where they can grab and correct, as long as they aren’t trying to get a little relief from the boredom of having nothing they can do and nowhere they can go. Enough of a rant on jailing, but that is one of the main places those shoes came from, and a huge market for them to shoot for. If it is racism, could be because the blacks overall have more men in jail for longer than any other race.

    • Vigilant

” If it is racism, could be because the blacks overall have more men in jail for longer than any other race.”

It is clearly racist on the part of Jackson to assume that only African-American jailbirds and wannabes will buy the shoes. At $350.00 a pair, a slew of honkies would be buying the shoes too. It’s not just black welfare $$$ and drug proceeds that will be forked over for this novel fashion design.

And Jackson needs to take a course in engineering. Tell me how a person shackled to himself in this manner has his mobility limited in an way, shape or fashion.

You can bet your bottom dollar that thousands of kids, black and white, are disappointed that these shoes have been prevented from reaching the marketplace.

  • T. Jefferson

Jackson thinks racism is behind everything that doesn’t include kissing his wrinkled old backside.

  • hooder

Coming from the biggest racist ever. Jackson is a worthless leech.

  • JOHN GILARDI

Jesse Jackson is nothing but a whinning sinveling nig’a . If it wasn’t for slavery , he and others would still be living in mud huts , and eating their children ………..

  • Wolf

Hey Jesse, the war and slavery has been over for 150 years drop the race card… And you are a preacher aren’t you ? You are a suppose be a man of God teaching his ways and teaching peace, love, and not hate and bigotry. In my opinion you Sir are a Hippocrate and i believe God isn’t happy with you. The shoes the Adidas was going to put out is based on a toy and maybe the cuffs in the shoes is there so if you would kick something that you wouldn’t lose the shoes when they are not tied…..

  • raw

If only blacks were forced to wear them he’d have a point; but if the majority of wearers are whites who purchase them voluntarily then i’d have say he’s full of $hit.

  • Kate Gordon

Why would any company stop manufacturing an item based on the rantings of people like Jesse Jackson? If he’s offended by the shoes, DON’T BUY THEM!! He’s as offensive as one person can be. I just don’t watch or listen to him.

  • gunner689AI

A snake is a snake. Why be surprised at the race-baiting actions of a black racist like JJ. Another company roles over to his wishes in fear of his self-appointed power. I will never buy another pair of Adidas again.

  • http://www.survivingurbancrisis.com/ Silas Longshot

Considering these stupid looking cartoon inspired shoes are $350 a pop, there wouldn’t be many sold to begin with. They would be worn by fashion dufuses who are stupid enough to buy such crap, because the media touts them as ‘cool’ and designed by ‘dufus of the month fashion guru’. But that’s the whole premise of American society. You can design stupid stuff and some people will buy it, it’s your right to make it or buy it.
JJ, as usual, is in it just for his own face time. Needs to siddown and shut the ‘ell up, has NO basis for this ‘racist’ shoe idea, even if it was being target sold only to blacks. It’s STILL their rights to buy the shoe or not. So the market will dictate, by demand or not, for the success of the product.
    Click the name.

  • Curtis Carter Jr.

This is absurdity at both ends: On one end, Jesse Jackson can find more ways to play the race card than Carter has little liver pills, especially when Jess is exposed to either a microphone or a camera. On the other end, $350 for a pair of sneakers???????????

    • Nadzieja Batki

If the people who have the money to spend on these shoes are willing to part with that money why should they be stopped. Good taste and good sense are short in this transaction.

  • FEDUP!

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be in the unemployment line if they didn’t shout Racism behind everything. Obama and Holder are really good at that also. Who could follow these clowns and still sleep at night is beyond me. They are getting rich and pushing people around and they are using you. Wake the f up!

  • http://google john p.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton thinks all blacks were slaves they
were not . these to free loaders are being paid by the Democrats
just like the NAACP and the ACLU . and there jobs are to scare
white people so they won’t think about what Government is doing
and what kind of bill’s are being passed . because they no blacks
don’t care about what Government is doing . most are brain dead
because they listen to these two idiots . they say all whites are
racist that is a lie . blacks are the racist’s . they think they all come
from slaves not true but they still blame the white people . the white
people didn’t bring the slave to America . the Spanish did that and
sold them to the white people .

    • DougDeGrave

The Spanish? I’m sure more than just the Spanish were responsible for slavery. The Dutch-East India trading Co.,for one, was also involved. It was mostly Jewish Europeans, and Spanish Marrano Jews that were behind the slave trade.

      • Vigilant

” It was mostly Jewish Europeans, and Spanish Marrano Jews that were behind the slave trade.”

Absolutely deplorable remark. Next you’ll be telling us that the African tribes who sold their captives into slavery were Jewish!

Your anti-Semitic remark trumps even JJ’s racism.

    • old hillbilly

Hadn’t thought of that one before! Now I know why JJ & AS wanted Zimmerman thrown down the outhouse hole. It was the Hispanics who sold all the blacks into slavery, not the whites. Old snake-eye JJ & AS were right on top if it! BO must have something sneaky up his drawers – making like he loves the spaniards. Does JJ & AS call them His-panics cause of a his’p, like a lisp?

    • gunner689AI

The main slave sellers and traders were the Muslims and the tribal chief who sold captives from other villages. The Muslims still carry on the slave trade today; the Sudan is an example. I’m tired of hearing blacks complain about slavery. If they hadn’t been brought to the America’s they’d be living in mud huts or floating down the Congo River minus their heads. Slave times were the last time many of them did a day’s work. I don’t see many blacks migrating back to the Dark Continent.

  • Marlene

Jackson is just mad because the ankle cuff might put off some elements in the hood from stealing a name-brand shoe – it may take longer to rip them off of a victims’ foot. Ol’ Jesse has to stick up for his supporters, you know.

  • http://personallibert.com Just Say’in

Not that I would wear them if I were given a pair but maybe they wouldn’t be stolen from the fee of someone who would buy them.

  • Don

Those who listen to the ilk of Jackson, Sharpton, and the rest are already mental slaves..so why not sell them the shoes? Or better yet, design a shoe with a hoodie on it???

  • Don

If this shoe is such a reminder of slavery, then take off all the gold and silver chains everyone wears? Why isn’t that a reminder of slavery?

    • Vigilant

The greatest “reminder” of slavery is the purposeful, continued enslavement of African Americans and whites both by a socialist government adding people to welfare/food stamp/no tax rolls as fast as they can. These are dependencies knowledgeably and nefariously created to increase government power over our lives and nothing else.

  • Wumingren

Has Je$$e Ja¢k$on ever commented on the racism that is inherent in the pop fashion of wearing one’s unbelted pants hanging low across one’s buttcrack? When people are arrested and processed into a holding cell, their shoelaces and belts are removed so they can’t use them to commit suicide, thus their pants hang low and a fashion statement is born. Since Je$$e views any case of the arrest of a black person to be the result of racism, one would think that jailhouse chic would be just another racist statement.

  • J.D.

Theres tire chains, wallet chains, dog chains, heck I’ve even seen chains connecting a persons earrings. What in the holy hell is this all about?! I personally don’t like the style of shoe and wouldn’t buy it, theres nothing wrong with having bad fashion sense. As far as jackson goes, he could probably find subliminal slavery messages in every box of cheerios. He personifies what pathetic really means. This story is so pathetic in nature that its a shame to even waste the space to print it.

  • Average Joe

Me thinks that Mr. Jackson is looking in all of the wrong places for Racism…
Has he checked his closet lately?….
    Or looked in the mirror?
Maybe he’s looked around at Sharpton’s house?
    No?
…Oh yeah…if he looked in any of those places, he would have found all of the racism in world…and he would be out of a job…(stirring the pot)….God forbid……

  • mobyspud

I’m surprised a company a big as Adidas would pay any attention to a buttinsky-activist like Jackson. they should just cut off those stupid looking shackles n sell-em for $150.
The rest of the shoe looks fine.

    • eddie47d

Who cares whether Jackson or anyone else exposed this rip off. Do you stand by companies that use unscrupulous methods to make a product.

  • http://gbvieto.wordpress.com deepizzaguy

I wonder if Jesse Jackson is a mind reader by suggesting the sneakers are racist.

  • FWO21

Jesse Jackson is the biggest racist around! He causes discord in the black community. He is the reason the T.Martin case got so big and out of hand. People are shot everyday, but you don’t hear about them like we did with this case.

  • becky

jesse jackson is a racist. because a true racist is one who uses rhe race card all the time. this man does not deserve reverend in front of his name. i say sell the shoes.

    • gunner689AI

JJ’s game only works because we let it through our mispaced white guilt and his treatment by the Feds like some sacred cow. He’s a phony racebaiter who should have got a bullet long ago.

  • kantstanja

This idiot is just stirring the pot.. Racism will never die if Jackson has anything to do about it. I can agree, the shoes are kinda tacky but racist? That’s a stretch.. You gotta realize, racism is what puts the food on the table for this ‘cry baby’ why would he want to destroy his profession? (isn’t $350.00 for a pair of walkers a bit outrageous or am I living in the past?).

  • Rick

As of June 21, 2012 the oldest living person is 112 and 302 days old. so she was born 1896. Lincoln freed the slaves on January 1. 1863 that’s 149 years ago so no one alive today was ever a slave or a slave owner so let it go.. And considering how Jesse Jackson and his Butt buddy AL sharpton have been using cuffs and shackles in their forplay he shoukd relate them to sex not race.Someone needs to put them both in prison for life or just drop them in a six foot hole before they ruin more peoples lives.
