A War On The Truth

Julian Assange is public enemy No. 1… and possibly Time‘s Person of the Year. The founder of the WikiLeaks website, which specializes in releasing the information Global Governance doesn’t want you to know, is either a traitor, a spy, a terrorist or a hero, depending on who is talking.

The release of diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks has embarrassed the ruling elite. It revealed that they are a cabal of petty, backbiting, untrusting and untrustworthy tyrants, eager to do or say anything to have their way and grow their empire. And that embarrassment is at the heart of the public uproar that has ensued since the cables were released.

The latest is, in fact, the second embarrassment. The first came earlier this year after WikiLeaks published a video of soldiers using a United States Army Apache helicopter to slaughter two Reuters photojournalists and a van full of Iraqi civilians that came to their aid… yucking it up all the while. Two children in the van were also injured.

The leaks show the result of a secretive, unaccountable and over-powerful government; a perfidious empire that seeks to rule the world by guile, cunning or force, if necessary. And the response by the United States government and by authorities in some of the U.S.’s puppet states — like Great Britain, which arrested Assange, and Sweden, which brought spurious charges of rape against him — demonstrate the length the ruling elites will go to suppress the truth.

Truth is the enemy of a totalitarian regime. Fooling, lying, spying: That is the way of the totalitarian regime. Fooling, lying to and spying on friends and enemies, and even worse, its own citizens.

There are bashers of President Barack Obama who will say this type of behavior is typical of someone like him — a man with a Marxist background and big-government, pro-communist sympathies. There are bashers of former President George W. Bush — a neocon who allowed a false-flag terrorist attack to occur on U.S. soil in order to spur passage of liberty-crushing legislation and stir up war passions — who will say that Obama inherited this mess, and it’s all Bush’s fault that Obama is caught up in it. There are defenders of both who will say that they were only trying to “protect” America and keep Americans safe.

The truth is WikiLeaks has exposed the evil of all-powerful government. It has exposed those in power for what they are: Agents of an entity that seeks to wield its might and influence to gain more might, influence and power.

Most seem surprised at this turn of events. They can’t believe that their government  — the government that was designed to “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity” — could behave in such a manner.

They fall in with the corporate media — Big Government’s propaganda arm — and follow the idea that America has been harmed by this treasonous Assange. They cheer at the thought that the U.S. Justice Department is investigating to determine whether charges can be brought against the man who simply published information that was given to him by a source in government — a source that saw an opportunity to reveal that the real enemy of the American people is their own government. And they cheer some more at the thought that Congress might pass laws that will make what Assange did illegal… a tacit admission that what he did wasn’t.

For the corporate media, it’s okay if it reveals state secrets it received from anonymous sources. It’s just journalism if your name is The New York Times or the Washington Post or one of the alphabet soup networks. In fact, they are complicit in the release of WikiLeaks documents. The truth is, major media outlets around the world are working with WikiLeaks to release the documents.

There are many of us who aren’t surprised at what the cables reveal. We recognize that long ago the American Dream was stolen by an evil cabal of foreign banksters. These elite and powerful players operate on a different plane from the rest of us. They function without a moral compass, playing by the rules of money and control.

The powers of governments from all over the world are now bearing down on Assange. He claims the rape charges against him are a Pentagon-initiated smear campaign and that members of the Australian intelligence community warned him that such smears were coming. There is evidence that at least one of the two women at the center of the rape allegations against Assange is a Central Intelligence Agency operative or has ties to the CIA. This would seem to indicate that Assange’s claim holds some truth.

The evidence is compelling. According to reports in the British press, the woman helped bring Assange to Sweden for a speaking engagement and invited him to stay in her one-bedroom apartment in Stockholm. They went to dinner, then back to the apartment, where they had consensual sex. The woman’s complaint stems not from the sex, but from the failure of Assange’s condom, which she claims was a deliberate act by Assange.

The woman is known as a militant feminist who believes consensual sex is rape and has blogged that women should take revenge on their ex-lovers and make them suffer. The other victim’s story is equally dubious.

So, two of Assange’s one-night stands who were either there to set him up for a fall or were merely unhappy with his performance have cried rape. And Assange was charged with sex by surprise, whatever that means in Sweden.

For this, a warrant for Assange’s arrest was sent to Interpol, the worldwide police organization that can operate inside the borders of any country. Assange never went into hiding — told United Kingdom authorities he was in their country, in fact — but the corporate media played up the “massive manhunt” angle.

Pressure was brought to bear on PayPal, which accepted donations to WikiLeaks, to drop the site. It did. Pressure was brought to bear on the Swedish bank that held Assange’s legal defense fund. He can no longer pay for his own defense. Pressure was brought to bear on the New Hampshire firm Dyn, Inc., that hosted WikiLeaks, and the site was shut down. Pressure was brought to bear on MasterCard and VISA and they ceased handling WikiLeaks donations.

The U.S. Justice Department recently shut down a number of Websites it claimed were illegally peddling copyrighted music, videos and other products. It did so in a broad sweep, taking down sites that linked to music and videos and sites that just mentioned other sites, a move that demonstrates the U.S. government no longer cares for the rule of law.

The Federal government is also working to give itself the authority to shut down portions of the Internet, just like the government of Communist China does whenever it decides there is a threat to national security. Who decides whether there is a threat? The same fascists who were featured in the embarrassing WikiLeaks revelations.

Many are outraged that Assange would publish the secret government documents, and his actions are being portrayed as an irresponsible, willy-nilly release of state secrets.

The outrage should rightfully be directed at the policies the documents reveal, the people behind those policies and the efforts of governments around the world to shut down and control the free flow of information over the Internet.

    Assange, who is by all accounts inspired by global leftist, will ironically be brought down by these same elitist. Textbook example of useful idiots being taken out once they have performed their alloted task. Having out lived their usefulness they become a liability because they know too much.

      Good points! Assange is the classic scapegoat–very Noriega-like, or Oswald or the Ok City guy–all were recruits into a Faustian deal, presented as patriotic, that then turns against them. Of course, Osama was the great example, too. They end up knowing too much and are ripe for being demonized and betrayed.

I have mixed feelings, we have had things hidden from us a long time and I thing we need this, on the other side national security screams! but too so does fixed elections, we bust other country’s for this right, well its happened here just last month. Alaska, Nevada, Colorado, and just how many more. We have a president who will not lesson to the people dead set to destroy this country, a Hungarian billionaire who is trying to put a Scythe or Sickle and hammer in the hands of our government, A government totally out of control on spending and stopping the American rights to death jackboot stile, look at our airports, they allow Muslims to pass by untouched and feel up and take nude photos of Sister Mary from so and so church, what is that , afraid her bible will burst into flames in flight?? and rummer after rummer of FEAMA building prisoner or death camps as Hitler did? a president who wants to build his own privet army (sound like brown shirts) who pardons black panthers who are Illegally threatening people at voting booths and then declare how they need to kill some cracker babes! Augh right! and he pardons them, each day we see more cameras, more of the teachers in you life, you cant spank Johny for theaving or breaking the neighbour windows no more, if you do we will step in and take your children! now what the hell is that! and they wonder how come we got criminals, oh then they tell us we cant defend our homes and they look to be working, no actually frothing at the mouth to take our guns! and now they got the Hershey [offensive word removed] who want to teach all children in school there perverted way is normal? since when? God knows we need something some where to start the long hard trip to recover from the damages done to this land by all those beating this country to death.             Government secrets are to keep the people in the dark and allow the tyrants to build their traps. The founding fathers KNEW this and tried to prevent it as best they could. The MAIN purpose of the First Amendment limitations on CONGRESS is to prevent them from legislating against a free press and free speech in general. By doing so they expected journalists to be able to publicly write about what the government does. The government works for US. They are our EMPLOYEES. They can NOT have secrets from their employers.

            Military secrets are useful during the short time the tactical battle is happening. Once over (short time is less than a month btw).

            Our forefathers knew that the military would be a problem only if there was a standing army. If ALL of us were (and we are) in the militia then the military secrets needed for tactical battle would naturally be secret for the SHORT time the secrets were needed.

            Our forefathers also knew that foreign alliances would cause our government to have secrets as that is the way of most of the governments in the world. Hence they warned us to avoid foreign entanglements.

            Now as to wikileaks and dirty laundry I find with much amusement that it is Democrats (and their diplomacy) that are getting their ox gored by this. The military secrets should never have been.

            So we should give a medal to a member of the armed forces of the United States who violated his oath of enlistment, and his oath to secrecy when given Secret clearance by the military. And his give reaso being that he is gay and does not agree with the DADT policy of the military.

            When I was in the military, and given Top Secret Clearance, I certainly would never have given information to a foreign national, no matter what I thought about the political Climate. This fellow is a traitor, and should never see the light of day again.

            There was an old saying in the second world war, and I think it still is valuable to remember today. “Loose Lips Sink Ships”. And this situation could very well sink some ships, or get some of our troops killed.

            David H: I also agree with you Most of the Bearueaucrats that hod and have held the government seats in Washington that have been in theses seat sence the graduated from College and couldn’t hold a Blue coller job if there lifes depended on it and all of theses people have been in office way to many years and the younger ones comming into politics have verygood teachers to show them the way to sit on there Arsses and attend a meeting occasionally and be able to vote them selves big pay raises at any time they want. and retire with thousands of big bucks given to them by there piers that voted to do this the people have never in my 80 yrs. of being a Cetizen and Military person that retired with a minimal amout just enough to bearly keep you head above water and these people get a big pension the rest of there lifes just to set in a seat in the Congress or Senate or house and half the time don’t even do this which they are paid big buck to be representing us the people this Man the have Assange im not sure of the writing of his name but all he done was use his god given right as a citizen of America he used the 1st amemndment his right of freedom of speach to show the people of America and the world what type of crooks set in the guiding seates of the most powerfull Nation in the World and yes he is definately being used as a scape goat for the crooks in the White House Starting at the very top a person not even American . The founding fathers of this country have there graves a mess as all the turning in them for the crooks we the people let stay in these positions we NEEDTO CLEAN HOUSE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AS WE USED TO SAY IN THE MILITARY A CLEAN SWEEP FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. A very disgusted disabled Korea and Vietnam Vet. that has seen this country in the past 80 yrs, go from trusting the people of it to haveing to lock your doors at night because if you don’t you may not be alive the next morning and i am still here to ltell you as a child you could leave your doors unlock and leave your home for a period of time and when you came home nothing was missing and your home was secure and if some one did happen to stop byand you were not at home they may make a sandwitch and glass of milk but there woud be coins or dollers left on the table with a note of thanks. this country continues to go to the Dogs.

            I agree with you that people like Assange are desperately needed in America. He’s not needed where i come from though because most ppl in my country are quite aware of the dirty business America’s been running here. We know that America’s manipulating our government, that the CIA killed our presidents in 1971 and in 1980. Now the dictator who’s been ruling our country for the last 30 years has learned the lesson, he obeys no one and cares for no one other than the US and Israel, he’d let his own ppl die or starve to death, he’d destroy mosques and hospitals and emprison everyone on election day so that his own party wins, just to keep himself and his son after him in the presidency. America’s happy with him for all he cares. To hell with the ppl. People in Gaza are starving to death, they have no electricity, no clean water, no medication, Israel has kept them under siege for over 2 years now and he still refuses to open our borders to them just to keep America happy with him….. We know all that, yet we love America!!!! we eat American food and pay thousands to give our children American education, we’re still wondering around searching for that American dream, we tell ourselves that it’s not the people of American who do that, and u know what? we’re right about that.

            People like Assange and John Perkins are great eye openers for the American ppl. I’ve been in the USA more than once and I met so many Americans in my life and I can tell you that there are much more good ppl in that country than the few bad one who unfortunately control the majority. I’m sure the goodness of that country will prevail some day and the real Americans will be heard. The beauty and kindness are the only things I do remember about them. Yes the crime rates are high but that’s because your government makes buying a gun and ammo easier than buying antibiotic for your sick child!!

            I just have one last comment about your ideas about Muslims: one of the greatest injustices I’ve witnessed myself in American is how your media is brain-washing you to hate Muslims and believe that they hate you right back. I am from Egypt a country with a majority of Muslims, and yes there are ppl who don’t like American here cuz of what I told you above, but the majority of Egyptians are celebrating American holidays even more than Egyptian and Islamic ones.. the bottom line is: MOST OF US DON’T HATE AMERICA… on the extreme opposite, we’re an incredibly Americanized society. Now about the nude photos of Holy Marry … I don’t know where you got that really, but I do know that Holy Mary is the most blessed and sacred woman in our religion (Islam). We have an entire chapter in the Quran with her name, telling her story. In our teachings, we believe in Jesus Christ, Moses, Abraham, Isac, etc.. and all of God’s messengers. Holy Mary is described in our book as the best and most sacred woman in history of mankind. No Muslim ever dares to offend her, otherwise, he’s NOT a Muslim. These are not my words, these are exact translations from the Quran. A Muslim is not a believer unless he believes in all of God’s messengers who came before Mohammed. This is a very common misconception in America. I had a Jewish friend there who honestly believed that we (Egyptian Muslims) hate Moses and justify what Pharaoh’s did to the Jews.. which is the OPPOSITE of what we believe: In our book, Pharaoh is cursed and dammed, while Moses is God’s prophet and messenger and we do believe in him. Even more, we pray 5 times a day because of Moses.

            My words might seem unrealistic to you, but it is the truth, the ultimate truth about religion: All 3 religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam came from one God to promote for one idea: “Oh mankind we have created you in males and females and made you in colors (races) and tribes SO YOU MAY KNOW ONE ANOTHER”(Quran) not fight one another, not kill one another and definitely not hate one another… if only ppl around the world would get this message !!!! this is why we’re created… Let us stand up to this Evil elite and tell them that they’ll not make any more fortunes by selling their weapons and death machines, let us not fall for their lies that ignite hate and war.

            He also took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. That oath was take FIRST and even if not it is the FIRST oath to follow. All the other oaths are contingent on that first oath. It is long accepted (if not popular) policy that any soldier has a DUTY to resist illegal orders.

            The decision to follow your DUTY to the US Constitution first is not one to be taken lightly. However can you explain how exposing the graft and corruption of the DOMESTIC enemies of the US Constitution is traitorous I would be interested in hearing your logic.

            Secrets beyond the immediate need of a tactical battle only serve tyrants and dictators. As Maya pointed out US Government secrets are not to the rest of the world. Those secrets are only to keep the American people from knowing what their representatives are doing to them behind closed doors.

            Same rule. Military secrets are useful in the SHORT time that a tactical battle is to happen. After that the secrets only serve to protect the guilty.

            Since antibiotic for a sick child is available over the counter for MUCH less then the price of even a box of good ammo (Notible exception is 22cal long rifle) I presume you have been listening too much to liberals and not enough to the common sense you show by realizing that the American people are not bad as individuals.

            Ownership of guns by the people doesn’t create crime. Ownership of guns by the people DOES reduce crime.

            After reading Maya’s post, I have to wonder how many billions of dollars the US have given his country to keep them from being just a third world wasteland? Most of these countries that have anything, at one time had nothing, and the US fed them millions that became billions, then they protest against us. Just seems strange to me.

          Nothing regarding the treasonous/seditionist acts have been amongst these leaks as related to Obama and his cohorts.

          One thing they are after is to take out Hillary because she could beat him for the Dem nomination in 2012~

          If we look at the leaks closely, they will point out who and what they want to be rid of or raise enough questions that we will think they are not behind all of this.

          There has been no mention from the amoeba in chief of action against him…that only means one thing..it is for “his” benefit and to throw Americans off key so they do not watch another attack on our liberties being taken away and right now, it appears it is our children he is after……as well as all else…Nullify this presidency and now…demand that from the House.

            This is so typical. Something big hits the airwaves, and then we are fed every possible explanation so that we have no idea who’s actually behind it, or why. We are left to speculate amongst ourselves while government rushes to “remedy” the “threat” by clamping down more on our freedoms.

            We don’t actually know who this guy is, who pulls his strings, or what his motives are. He could be out to save the world or to help bring it down. Either way, forces are at work shaping our opinions to further agendas.

            The truth is…whatever the media says it is. And we have a dizzying mix of possibilities to choose from.

            Will the real Julian Assange please stand up!

            Assange is guilty of nothing. He did what the entire purpose of the protections of the press are in the Constitution. Of course he is making money so I would expect those who hate successful people would turn on him.

      I wonder why they can’t or won’t complain how he got the papers. It seems odd that it’s a property suit (female reproduction, really old school law) they need to quiet him. If he truly broke the law and stole or got them with spies then they would be willing to show the evidence.           So far, from all Ive read and heard about the things this Assange guy revealed, until he started releasing the list of sites that the United States was worried about the Islamic terrorists hitting, he wasnt doing bad service at all. He over stepped the line in making public these things I believe, but I also think, that the terrorist probably more than not already know what sites they want to hit or not to hit. I think he push the buttons a little too much, and his pride and arrogance got him in trouble. And for them to seize anything and everything linked to him, is a scary proposition. I find it to be highly illegal, and an affront to freedom. I agree there are certain thing to be protected from our enemies knowledge, but Im not sure what he did was such a damning thing, but I do think he knew not to do it but did it anyhow.

            Japan is payiny the U.S. 2.2 billion dollars to maintain a base in that country. I do not know about other countries. It is not like America is occupying Japan. We could have let Georgia fall to Soviet rule but you can hardly say we are imposing ourselves on them or on South Korea. We can also allow North Korea to drop a nuke on South Korea and take that country over as they would have no choice but to surrender. The question is should we or should we not? This may be a case of comparing apples and oranges, but if you remember Daniel Ellsberg (Vietnam days), he paid a price, but it didn’t seem to be too high a price. People who are in elite circles have too much to lose by spreading the truth.
    I’d gladly settle for “elites” in religious circles spreading the truth. If that happened, the world would be horrified to learn what apostate churches have done to the world in the name of God and patriotism and “truth.”

The entire 10 commandments were written in stone by the Egyptian Sun God Ra who put them by the burning bush for the Egyptians to find. Moses found them and put them in the ark the ark was hidden then discovered in Egypt by an archeologist working for Hitler. An American archeologist named Jones was able to secure the ark and get it to the US where it was moved to Warehouse 13.

He just gave them the ten commandments.       Much of Christendom has become something Christ never intended, and is nothing like the early church (prior to Constantine). The true meaning of Christ’s teachings, and also the teachings of the Torah, were hidden from the masses in order to insure our eternal subjugation and lack of power. That this would happen is even foretold in scriptures.

      It’s time for God’s people to wake up and hear His Voice. Instead of blindly adhering to one of the myriad dogmas espoused under the broad heading of “Christianity”, if we open our hearts to His Voice…

      I can tell you have never been the Military Dragon Slayer. The information that was hacked by the young Private and given to Assange and released on the Web, is a threat to national security and those involved should be tried for treason. The only reason was a monetary one and these people should pay.

None of the news medias are saying anything because of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, but this article eluded to the fact that this guy is gay and he felt estranged and lonely and that is why he did this. The article came from someone who is an upscale reporter, but it seems that this has been silenced. However, all will come out eventually, as the truth always surfaces. Oh, what wicked webs we weave, when we practice to deceive. The truth usually comes around to bite you in the butt.

    I continue to be of two minds in this regard. There are some things that NEED to be kept secret. Examples of what should remain secret are troop strength, supply routes, and times and locations of planned attacks.
    On the other hand, bureaucrats like to hide their misdeeds from the public by labeling their foul actions as “classified”. My hope is that we can find some way to balance the need for “transparency” with the need to guard vital secrets.

The TRUTH is always good to have, but then, a nation must have the legal ability to keep secrets that, if known, would cause harm to it’s citizens or even other nations. THAT being said, neither PFC Manning NOR (the foreigner) Assange had the right to take it upon themselves to reveal “the truth” (these documents). In this process, and I do NOT believe either one did it for altruistic purposes, they have put many people in grave danger. Additionally, neither one had TIME to sort through this mass of information nor the ability to determine it’s impact. They just threw it into the air without regard to where it would land. They should both be prosecuted- Manning as a traitor, Assange as an enemy of the State and a spy.

      Heck, we are in the middle of two wars! Something as simple as knowing when certain officials take a daily constitutional could be devastating to our troops on the ground!!

      Two wrongs do not make a right. Our government needs to clean itself up. We the People need to make sure that happens!

Could it be that they were not really surprised by the negative statements made by other diplomats or officials? Or unaware of the actions taken, supposedly in secret, by those same countries?
        If, as it seems, they are all working towards a one world government, wouldn’t they already know those “secrets”? So, a few “outraged” remarks would be all that was needed before everything returned to diplomatic “normal”. It seems to me that the status is still quo!

    There were official Reports that assured us that not one person had died as a result of this information. Can that happen, sure, but proving it conclusively would be nearly impossible.

    While I agree that our government is going to hell in a hand-basket, I do not agree that a foreign operative can “steal” state secrets from a PFC and make this kind of hay. The piles of documents released along with the piles that are supposedly standing by in the queue are the work of sitting politicians. These people purposefully released these documents since the safeguards on “highly classified” information are far greater than a lowly PFC would be able to defeat alone. The higher up on the classified scale you travel the more safeguards are in place such as two-person integrity, portable electronics free zones and computer permissions preventing such actions.

    The government needs a revamping where the current political class is tilled under, but not by the court of world opinion. The citizens of the United States need to rise up against the political class and return the duty of service back to a responsibility and not a privilege.

    Furthermore it looks like wikileaks (which is a media site) was intentionally framed to create an incident big enough to motivate a change to our freedom of speech so no more truth and dissent can be put out. Have you heard anything about who gave wikileaks the documents, and how that government official who gave the documents to wikileaks had access to documents from departments he wouldn’t normally have had access to? It looks like someone else intentionally collected those documents in order to put them out. Shouldn’t that raise questions for investigation and remedy, but yet the focus is on a media company.

      No, because they don’t want you to know how or who gave him the documents. I think he’s just a setup and is ultimately expendable. The very reason we can sit here at our computers and comment freely is what’s bothering world governments. They cannot control that for now, but it’s coming. If they can illegal close down websites and coerce PayPal, Visa and Master Card into not taking money for Assange, then they will be after us next.

    The same people who are always supporting the “wars” to save our “freedom” are the first to assail anyone who tries to promote freedom. Assange is a hero who exposed evil and illegality in our ever expanding government. This, the government cannot stand or tolerate. The sheeple must not be allowed the truth and must be spoon fed government lies and freedom of information must never be allowed to get in the way. National security is always screamed but no one has been harmed by the release of this info by Assange and WikiLeaks except the government agents who have been exposed for their lies and deceptions. This is good for us, but bad for big government. A populace kept in ignorance cannot effectively govern and control its government.
    Only those favoring a police state are upset by all of this. I, for one, am not afraid of the truth and feel that the people in a free state need to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
    Once the government is allowed to withhold information from “we the people” there is no end to it. Government will never be satisfied until they control all information and all the media outlets, which they almost control now, with the one exception, the internet, which this “crisis” will now allow them to do in the interest of “national security”.           There is a reporter that has been studying the Bilderburg meetings from about 20 years. How secret are they? He was able to infiltrate the meetings a couple of times as a waiter or grounds keeper. Now they look for him and escort him off premises every single time he manages to get in. There is video of him being followed by black BMW in order to scare him. I’m sorry, but can’t remember his name. Saw a thing about him on the History channel one night. After all that – he is still trying to get some real concrete proof, but all he has is what he saw and heard at the meetings he was able to get into. He says they actually plan what will happen around the world at their yearly meetings. These are scary ruthless people that will stop at nothing to gain complete control.

I said that in a previous post, that the enemy probably already has a list of targets they want, but even knowing that, releasing this list was undoubtedly the undoing of Assange. You just cannot do that. I think he was arrogant and thought he could do anything he wanted, and he found out different. Pride comes before the fall, and I think this mans proudness is what brought him down.

    Once the dust settles on this one, and he publishes what he has about the banks, the government will have another “crisis” that will enable our government to sell us on completely taking over the banks in this country.

    Most of what he leaked about some of our nation’s representatives was already probably known, though not the details. We knew for a fact that most of our higher ups are deceitful, vindictive liars and that they had no moral or ethical values to begin with. One that supports the idea he was not born in Hawaii but using the grandfathers house as a legal residence while being born somewhere else.       Very little of what has been released will hurt people in the US, but some of those leaders in other less stable countries are put in a bad light and their opposition is jumping on it. This could alter the balance of world power drastically, and perhaps not in a good way.

    I believe that the idea that a pfc can have access to this volume of secrets is absurd. I do believe that the availability of these documents reveals a weakness in the security systems surrounding the use of the internet as a “super-highway” for the communications of “sensitive” information, that our government or no government wants to talk about.

    I also believe that anything we send on the internet, such as this comment, or our personal bank information, or our tax information if we file electronically is all equally vulnerable to “viewing and publication”. Is the reality that we should all quit using the internet for our personal communications?

        There is no ranking limit to who gets Clearance in the military. It is decided by your need to work with sensitive documents and systems that are kept secret for good reason. It is also not given freely. The procedures and investigation into your background are deep and take time.

        I worked in the Anti Submarine Warfare field in the Navy, and had to be cleared. Some of the techniques and systems we used were developed and unique enough that if they were to be leaked, would allow any enemy to develop countermeasures that would put our Submariners in jeopardy.

        And when you are given this clearance you are cautioned that the penalty for violating the oath of secrecy would be severe.

    Ya’ know…. it doesn’t help that Assange is such an arrogant, elitist, thoroughly unsympathetic character. Think it is probably OK that those in the diplomatic community have been “embarrassed” by being exposed as petty and thoroughly unprofessional in their communications.

    My concern is the obvious lack of security by our government… that a prissy Private had access to classified communication, and was able to download thousands of documents and provide them to Assange without detection, is extremely troubling. Heaven only knows if the Chinese, Russians, and jihadis, have already paid some worthless rat to copy and provide them a mountain of top secret military and stategic data! Would our government even notice?

    The media went nutz when insignificant Valerie Plame, was “outted” as a CIA employee. This publication of documents IS significant, but went largely unaddressed by the press, and certainly ignored by the Justice Department… that same Justice Department who can Marandize the pantie bomber within hours of detention, and can move at rocket speed to sue BP or the State of Arizona.

    Don’t much care what happens to Assange, but want to see Bradley Manning severely punished for his treasonous behavior. If it can be proved that US one agent, soldier, or Afghan or Iraqi ally is killed, because of his crime, he should pay with his life. I want to know that security clearances have been dramatically tightened up. The fundamental problem is governmental irresponsibility and incompetence.

What Wiki leaks has produced is interesting, and embarrassing to some, but it’s the things that wiki leaks has NO access to at all that should worry us.

    I have some grave doubts about this whole wiki thing. Unfortunately the govt has not been honest with the American people for many years now and instead of apologizing for their previous errors, they have a tendency to create a diversion and to blame someone else. Had they apologized for their numerous errors, instead of sweeping them under the rug, it would be easy to accept their rhetoric today. I have yet to see any devastating facts released at this point. Most of the news leaks are nothing new, as in years past, Hoover’s FBI created dossiers on all congress members and other people in this Country, to keep them in line and of course to pursued them to give in to what Hoover felt was good for His agency.
    Many are against wiki and what was done, however, all probabilities point to our Govt. being behind many of the adverse comments being anti Wiki. Again, I am not totally convinced either way, however, I continue to watch anything aired pro or con.

I think that when a foreigner injects himself into our government in this manner it is called “Spying” and we have strict laws against that.

    On Fox news there was a supporter of Julien who claimed that our constitution gives him, Julien, the Australian, the right to freedom of speech. The reporter responded that he, an Australian, should stick to him own constitution and let us take care of ours.

    Our constitution does not give any rights to foreigners who steal from our country except the right to a fair, and speedy, trial. Now I know that Julien did not steal anything himself, but how did he acquire the documents legally? We also have laws against “receiving stolen property”!

While I am for exposing the truth in politics, I do not believe one should do this at the expense of others while placing them in danger. There is an appropriate time to release such information; endangering troops is certainly not the best way to go! I do not believe that Assange had anything except his own self-gain in mind. As for his legal issue: then he should have remembered his mother’s advice when he began dating as a young lad: “keep your pants zipped.” Had he done so, there would be no sorry cries of set-up or that the acts were consensual.

    Responsible journalism is important and maybe Assange should have vetted the information more carefully.There was no great mystery in what was released but what about next time? Assange did it because he could;The next guy may have more sinister plans. That being said, are we an open society or a closed society? The business of news has become entertainment and they can’t even tell the difference between fact and fiction. Some news shows proclaim guilt or innocence before a trial has been declared. A news program on Fox or MSNBC will do just that yet turn around and use every bit of information that Wikileaks exposed. They want to be morally superior no matter which side the issue falls on.

    Curious business, an army private soldier gets hold of a massive leak of documents many of diplomatic interest, not exactly military material. How so, and more to the point why? This reeks of an insider job of some sort. There isn’t much credibility in asserting that diplomatic traffic is available to private soldiers, there is distinct whiff of a ratus, ratus or perhaps ratus norvegicus here!

    Are we to believe that the security system is so devoid of effectiveness that anyone with the lowest rank can walk in and out with a bundle of data? None of this is believable, the leak is more likely than not intentional and directed to establish a change in the way diplomatic exchanges are entertained, and that it certainly has done. So what is the real target here? Liberty is the mark, create a problem then seek out a solution and we the public will be the worse off. The alternative is that the government at its most sensitive zones is stunningly incompetent; if that is true we are in a parlous state indeed.

    Another interesting point is at what level did this leak emanate from? You will hear next to nothing about this at all, it is apparently all the work of a private soldier. Besides the fact that there is diplomatic traffic in this bundle there isn’t much strategic material that matters beyond embarrassing cables that appear on the face of it to be only that. Yes some names are named, that adds to the credibility of the leak or the rat would have been outed immediately. The information is real but the intent is disinformative.

    Assange is largely irrelevant, the material leaked because of two things
    1. Stunningly lax security though I doubt that, treachery is possible but how far up the chain?
    2. The whole thing is a scam or a play on all of us, this is probable.

    The sooner Wiki-leaks release the most important material the better, bring it on I say. The only moral from this sordid story is that the government is either incompetent or disingenuous your pick, or both of course.

      He was in a position to get this info because he was a soldier. All political radios all over the world in our embassies are managed by US soldiers. Now civilians allowed. This soldier happened to work in Washington, where these messages all gathered, so he had more access than even most soldiers.

      I don’t know how many spy satellites we have in orbit now. I doubt if even the DOD knows. But I do know that over 60% of them are pointed at the US rather than any country who might cause us problems. In fact, they take pictures of every place in the US every 4 seconds – pictures that can be blown up good enough to allow them to read a newspaper lying on the ground. And good enough to read car license plates.

      I read an article several years ago where a detective in California who had a friend in the archives where these pictures are kept was able to identify and locate several murderers for a crime that was over ten years old. (The friend was in trouble for releasing the pictures to him since they were classified too.) It was pointed out that ALL crime committed outside could be viewed and convictions made within a few hours. Later I know that McVey, who blew up Oklahoma City, was identified by a photo the same way. But the government doesn’t really want you to know that they are, in fact, spending most of their time spying on us rather than outside enemies.

      You are correct. In fact, probably 90% of the “top secret” classified info could and probably should be open. It’s just that so many people want to believe that what they say is so important, so thrilling that they believe that everyone hangs on their words.

Also for my part, I tend to get really suspicious of the intentions of people, whoever they may be, whose personal histories support a tendency to strong bitterness against government or any other entity. Yellow cake is the first step to leech uranium out of ore and that is how its shipped from the mine. However, you seem to have missed one part – the part where Saddam stated that he wanted and intended to have nuclear weapons. But I assume you are just blowing that off as incidental.

        I’m glad I’m only an engineer rather than a scientist. Scientists insist that their theories are always right – regardless. We poor engineers prefer to get all the evidence together before we make decisions.

I know for a fact I watched right on the national news all these pages of WMD’s this guy had. I always wondered, and still do, where they went, and why the national news and democrats still insist on saying Bush lied about them, when they themselves cried he had them and all said he had to be stopped.     Has anyone here even read the stuff from Wiki-Leaks? I personally have not read any of it so I only know what I have heard floating around out here with this article and the blogisphere. I would be curious to know if anyone has actually read the info? It seems to me that there are good arguments on both sides of the aisle. However,this current so-called crisis seems strangely conveniently timed as liberals go after trying to pass a law that would allow government the power to silence conservative talk radio by forcing radios stations to present liberal view points along with conservative view points. I think it is called “the fairness doctrine”? One of Obamas top advisors said “we should not allow a good crisis to go to waste”. Sorry I can’t remember who said it. The point is that it seems to me that a government bent on usurping power from the people has to create enough of a crisis that its people practically beg the government to step in and take control! Beware of exchanging your freedom for security or eventually we will have neither!

      Appearsd that most of this is the same as the wonderful health care bill last year. A Ms Pelosi said, “We’ll read it after its passed”. And those who have to pay for health insirance after Jan 1 will need to read the part where it was supposed to lower Medical Insurance costs. Ask my Union Working son who is getting a 30% increase in insurance payments deducted from his pay starting January 1, 2011.

They usually have an article almost every day of elderly being left to die without water, of failures of the medical system to treat patients with cancer or other major diseases, etc. It is indeed cheaper (to the government) to allow people to die.       If this man is a rapist, he should be more than put into a jail. He needs to be taken out and shot. On the other hand, I’ve seen some comments in the London papers about this. Both women voluntarily went to bed with him and then later claimed they had changed their minds and therefore this is rape. I cannot agree that rape covers a woman changing her mind weeks later. I shall be interested to find out what really did happen in this case.

    I do not think Assange exposed anything about the government that most Americans didn’t already believe. I have been saying for years that we are supposed to be a ‘Government of the people, by the people for the people”. What we have is a “Government of the representatives, by the representatives, for the representatives” and anything that comes out of congress that is good for the country and its citizens is an accident.
    What I do not like is anything that he released that harms any of our service troops should be handled as treason-es. As for our politicians, it is about time were took our government back. They have to much power, make to much money and cause to much financial waste. In short I think our government is being overthrown by our “government”.

    There are two main issues to consider when a self imposed individual decides to leak secret government documents. First, Julian Assange may be considered a hero because some of the content might expose illicit or corrupt behavior. Second he must be considered a internet terrorist enemy of our Country for releasing information that potentially puts U.S. Military action strategy and our soldiers at greater risk failure or harm. If he had selectively released only certain information about corrupt behavior there might be a slight argument in his favor.     I strongly disagree with the tone and direction of this article. Mr. Assange does not care whether the information is of a sensitive nature, Secret or Top Secret he is going to publish it anyway. In this case it appears as an attempt to smear the United States diplomatic relationships. Yes, I know that this sounds like the government can do and say anything that they want in these releases, but the truth is that far worse has been said (& done) in private than anything ‘reported’ in these documents. Unfortunately this is the way that diplomatic affairs have taken place for as long as there have been governments. Yet nothing that is mentioned in these documents exposes any truly illegal or farm-selling secrets. Instead they provide only embarassment & complications for all parties involved.

    But going back to the first part of my comments, Assange would print anything he could get his hands on. The more sensitive and damaging, so much the better (from his point of view) because he believes that he can make more money with this tantalyzing bit of disclosure. However, when it comes to genuinely classified information, he can do more than embarass a nation. He can start wars, aid in the destruction of a nation or worse. Consequently, such types of reporting & publications must be closed or more severely controlled to ensure necessary security for both corporations and nations.

    Mr. Assange is no hero – he is instead a money grubbing bully that is intent on doing as much damage as he can to all that he comes in contact with.

      When given a Clearance in the military, you are presumed to be honorable enough to live up to the sworn oath you take when given the clearance.

      This person stumbled over the information he leaked, and should, by the instructions for handling of classified material, not read it in the first place. Unless it was pertinent to the job at hand.

      While in the military, and having a high clearance, I as well was privy to information that was not pertinent to the job at hand, and after determining that fact, went on to other endeavors.

      This treasonous young man has no honor, and should be given the maximum punishment for violating his solemn oath. That in the old days would be death by firing squad. But he will be fortunate to have the liberals in our present system give him life in prison.

    I know a “setup” when I see it. Come on… TWO women suddenly came forward with rape complaints after the first US military documents were released?

    When I was in the service 30 years ago, anyone could get on our airbase, without a pass or military ID by simply telling the guard at the gate that he or she wanted to visit the base PX. You had to observe the speed limit and drive around the airfield slowly. During this time you could easily count the number of fighter jets on the runway or in the open hangers. YET we airmen were told that the number of jets on the field was a secret, which could not be revealed on pains of court martial. Worse, the command did things to compromise encrypted message traffic, but that was not an issue…

    A leak such as this SHOULD tell the military that they have to rethink WHAT should be declared secret, and how they should safeguard it. Instead, the reaction of these idiots it to demmand ever more secrecy and enforcement powers to the detriment of our freedoms.

    The fact that I see “conservatives” like Bill O’Reilly and others demand Assange’s head on a stick before a fair trial, tells me that they have no respect for the freedoms which the Founding Fathers fought and died for.

    If all he released was embarrassing comments by Congress and/or the President, I could care less. What I do care about are the military information he has released such as the location of all military nukes in Europe. That gives any enemy the knowledge of where to attack first to eliminate those as threats. He has released other such information as well. So don’t start arguing to protect him and his ability to release such info based on reported news of releasing embarrassing comments. Those only cause problems for one man or woman. The military info can cause problems for everyone in the world.

    Have read many of your ideas and thoughts. Go back to why and how America was brought into being. A group of folks who fought to be free from oppression. A group of thinking men who conjured up the Bill of Rights and our Consitution. Pretty good start? You bet. There is an entity living and breathing that can’t stand for our great nation to thrive, to be self sufficient, to say and do, without reprocussions from a totalitarion government (big brother).

    This nation (all American folks) did well to provide inventions that no other nation had ever dreamed of (walking on the moon for one). We have had the opportunity to be great because we were given God’s natural instincts to invent, to improve, to help others in need. American’s are the most generous folks on earth, when it comes to helping other nations.

    Think about it…..Do we point fingers and blame or do we pull up our boot straps and get to work to restore and unite our great nation? Truly God’s blessing for what we do have.

      You are correct. Recently a Japanese businessman stated that Americans were lazy and that was why he knew we were going to fail. He gave an example. He could order both a Japanese worker and an American worker to dig a ditch. The Japanese worker would take a shovel and get to work. The American might or might not but wouldn’t dig as fast or as hard if he did. This proved he was right.

      Actually, the American, if ordered to dig the ditch would start and then say, “There HAS to be an easier way to do this!” Then he’d go get a backhoe. Or invent one.

        The Commerce Clause was meant to prevent the States from tariffing, taxing, or otherwise inhibiting free trade with the other States.     Government political secrets? There should be very few if any. Military secrets is another matter.

    Here is an example of document leakage that I personally witnessed. During Vietnam I had a secret crypto clearance and on one occasion I saw a classified photo of U.S. troops standing by a large pile of dead Chinese soldiers dressed as NVA troops. There was a large cache of Russian AK weapons in the photo. To my shock, the very next day after the photo came through our crypto room, the same photo was on the front page of the a San Francisco newspaper.

    So what was the secret all about? Our troops knew they were encountering Chinese troops. The Chinese certainly knew. About the only people who at the time didn’t know was the U.S. public.

    I am convinced our government is for the most part corrupt and the more of its so-called secrets are revealed the better for our liberty. I am also convinced that this particular leakage is designed to eventually stifle our freedom of political speech.

    I also feel, knowing what I know about military secrecy, that someone much higher than the rank of PFC was feeding documents to be deliberately leaked. Why? I don’t know. That’s a government secret. But I believe we will all know when we lose our freedom of speech.

      Probably 95% of all things listed top secret by the government are such that if the enemy got them there would be no affect at all. The real idea is to keep the US public from knowing what is going on. Vietnam was fought mainly to get the people’s attention off the economy and other things the government was “handling”. Once they had their problems finished or covered up, they pulled out the troops, abandoning our “allie” and getting a lot of us killed. (50+ thousand).

      Much of what is being released now fall into that category. Actually, by embarrassing the politicians, WikiLeaks is putting themselves in more danger than if they told every military secret we had. But they are also releasing those military secrets they have which is putting men in danger. That is wrong and should be stopped.

Myself and my work partner used to get called in the office, and told by our lead man that we were doing to much work and making the other guys look bad, and that we needed to knock it off or he was going to bring in the union steward on us. Now keep in mind here, that we worked a 7 am to 3 pm job, took a half hour break at 9 a.m., a half hour break at 11 am., a half hour lunch at noon, a twenty minute break at 1:30, then clocked out at 3:00 p.m. By one o’clock every day, my work partner and I were on the roof drinking beer, as we worked at a brewery. How hard could have we been possible working to make someone look bad? Give me a break. These guys cost the company thousands of dollars, constantly and around the clock, and it was tolerated because of the unions, who would spend endless amounts of money and fight them in court and the company did not want to go there. Yes you are correct in your statements about the unions. I also worked two other union jobs, and it was the same thing. I have buddies who since these places closed, got in at GM, and they tell me that they cannot believe the waste there, and the amount of guys that stand around and do nothing all day, and collect a premium wage. This is your unions in action, holding companies hostage. I know for a fact, I was in them for 13 stinking years. Ive been out for about 15 years now, and its much better on this side. Much, much better.

I havent smoked for 15 years, as I quite often take drug tests because my company does it, plus I have a CDL license that puts me in a federal “lottery” testing plan. But before this, I smoked the good stuff, Im talking Columbian Red Bud, Meshmican, Thai Stick, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, Sensimilla, Kona Bud, and I did it every day for 24 years. Some of the guys I grew up with still smoke it every day. They have good jobs. They have families. They have morals, and they are not paranoid about anything. In fact, I find us to be as well balanced people as anyone Ive ever met. And I assure you also, I am not on the left. I am a right wing Christian conservative. Only 960 cables (out of the over 250,000) have been released, and these cables were given to the New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegal, Le Monde, and El Pais for redact prior to Wikileaks releasing them. Therefore, if Wikileaks is culpable for anything, SO ARE THE papers I just mentioned. NONE of the cables had any information of a super-secret or even mildly secret-sensitive nature, and none of put anyone at risk.

AS history has proved, the only successful war is one ending in victory. Once a lethal weapon is used against another, we have forgotten humanity. I and my three sons are veterans and there are times that the only rule bercomes survival. As an example of what this leak could cause: During WW2 a congressman made a supposadly innocent remark. The Japanese can”t sink our subs because they are operating deeper than the depth cahrges are set. Within a week, we started losing subs at a critical rate with the loss of thouisands. Such is the real world of thoughtless release of information.

            We’re not in Germany and france,and England as well, as part of a 70 yr war. We are there because of our strategic interests around the entire world and were there after WW 2 because of the fear that Russia,our ally during the war, would move into Europe. Obviously our presence there was to deter communism and was the beginning of the cold war…no shots fired. We are also still there after the threat from Russia faded because of the economic benefit to them. We also have thousands of soldiers in Japan for the same reason,but it clearly is not a ‘war’.

            you’re right it is not about a war at the moment. But it is in the minds of many people about a sense of protection and a reminder of what our soldiers did for them. Of course, I got that part from a lovely German couple – invited into their beautiful home – near the old East German border and among things discussed were their neighbors, family, parent’s thoughts of what they experienced over their lifetimes and why they felt the way they did about the US and why they didn’t want the US Army out of their country. I enjoy talking with actual people in these countries. From them one learns far more than CNN, etc. They live there – so their thoughts spoken to me make so much more sense than someone here telling me what their country thinks.

      Government has NO RIGHTS. Government has only the powers delegated to it by the people. Government has no right to privacy. In rechecking yet again the Constitution of the United States which specifically lists all the powers given to it I find no evidence of a power to hide what the government does from the governments employer.

      I do find a general PROHIBITION to the government having secrets. This prohibition is in the First Amendment (Clever these founding fathers :) ) If you don’t see it do not feel bad.     It’s a real mix of factors in this equation. Do we celebrate the release of classified documents that could put some of our soldiers in an increased threat level or do we celebrate the courage of those that bring information that our corrupt government is holding in secret & trying to cover up. Truely…it’s a fine line.

    I have to say…that I agree with JFK. That the dangers inherent in hiding information in secrecy far out weighs the reasons to do so.

    I find this thing about Wikileak to be no more than a cover up and it’s frightening to think what’s behind this corruption. We don’t have to look too far for enemies but ourselves. Based on God’s word, liars and cheats have their part reserved. You can find the hand writing of God in the pages of Romans Ch 1: 18-21.It states, the wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven against all the Godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.You can read the rest.

VERSE 4 states, Generations come and Generations go, but the earth remains forever. knowing what we already know about the end of all mankind, you would think our leaders and those in trusted with such powers would exercise their office, with fear before a Holy God, but satan has blinded their eyes like the great King, Nebuchadnezzar.     I’m still incredulous at reading all of the negative dirt some posters continue to throw at Assange. He’s a “sex pervert,” he’s an “anarchist,” etc., NEITHER of which has been proven. What is this…,a blog from ‘The View?’ What CAN be proven is his own words which have focused on bringing down verifiably BAD government…,and what true Libertarian (or conservative) would NOT want that? Stop focusing on trashing this guy and his supposed ‘motives’ and start focusing on the MEAT of the issue, which is the CRIME, CORRUPTION, MALFEASANCE, UNCONSTITUTIONALITY, and MURDER CONTAINED IN THOSE CABLES!!! That is the ONLY issue anyone should be concerned about. Julian Assange’s personal life or agendas cannot harm us. What is contained in those cables CAN, WILL, AND ARE HURTING US.

    I just saw a piece on Assange last night. Some of his “cohorts” have left him and are starting their own site. This is because he more or less told them that Wikileaks is nothing without him; and if they don’t like it, they could leave. They said that his arrogance is getting worse and worse with all the publicity. Just as I said, he’s just an arrogant, self-centered creep.

      Actually, truth be told, your in the minority if you smell him as a hero. Im not quite sure where I stand on his legal/illegal status, but I do know enough about him that he is an arrogant arse, and usually those types, if you give them enough rope, they hang themselves. I would imagine he will walk this time, because I dont see where he has broken the laws, and they cant hold him. But I firmly believe he will. His pride wont let him stop for some reason. You watch and see, and we both will find out. But I myself dont find him a hero, and I dont yet find him to be a leper, just an arrogant arse. Give him time to grow, and we will both see what happens.

    Anytime there is George Soros’ money involved or even remotely connected, you must know the plot has deeper roots. Why is Soros’ money involved? Michael Moore is just a sleezy side show, as usual. It seems highly unlikely one lonely soldier would have access to such a broad range of classified information. It is also important to note that unauthorized possession of classified documents, stolen or otherwise, is a crime. The Obama Justice Department seems totally incompetent. They had ample notice to be prepared for this. To stand in ignorance today must be seriously addressed. Regardless, the question remains why and who really is behind all of this. Could it be a move to control the Internet as Obama has indicated he wants? It does appear Assange is not acting alone. That’s my 2 cents for what it’s worth.

    The University of Maryland just conducted a study and found FOX news viewers were the most miss-informed of all media.I would suggest more newspapers left and right and use your own mind.Fox news is like totally whacko at times and there are actually people that suck up that crap they are being fed.

      I’m not at all surprised by the study. Rupert Murdoch has made it clear that he’s on a right wing mission w/ his news media. Why doesn’t the rightwing accept what he says and does? A person could be well informed if they are loyal Fox viewers,if they also watched,read and listened to other sources. Most of them don’t do that though.
