A Light In the Darkness

It isn’t exactly stop-the-presses news that the so-called Main Stream Media (MSM) lists to port in its coverage of any news, stop-the-presses or otherwise. During the age of Obama, some of the more wild-eyed media outlets have abandoned any pretense of calling it down the middle. In some cases, that abandonment manifests thusly:

“Tonight on MSNBC: Ed Schultz explains how voter fraud is fine if the fraudster is acting on behalf of Martha Coakley! Later—Rachel Maddow… um… still hates Sarah Palin.”

In others, we see the high-wire act of major print publications desperately clinging to claims of legitimacy while their news departments alternatively proffer fawning profiles of the current administration’s greatness and fall mafioso-silent on the subject of Democrat failings.

So imagine my surprise when Sunday’s edition of The Washington Post—as redoubtable an outlet for the MSM as exists south of West 40th Street in New York (the home offices of The New York Times)—WaPo ombudsman Andrew Alexander openly questioned the lack of coverage of the Obama Administration’s refusal to pursue charges against the New Black Panther Party hate group. In Alexander’s piece, he acknowledges the efforts of readers to force The Post into examining the developing situation, and even criticizes the paper’s late arrival to the party.

Had someone mentioned to me before Sunday that a member of a left-wing rag would admit dereliction of journalistic duty, I would have high-tailed it to the nearest 7-11 to stock up on Powerball tickets. Granted, Alexander does a bit of a soft shoe on the situation, but given the partisan rage guiding most of his compatriots, I will accept the possibility that he has to err on the side of caution.

The man may well have a family to feed, and if the hysterical reaction of some of our liberal friends here on Personal Liberty Digest™ is any indication, selling out the wingnuts from inside the WaPo newsroom is as dangerous as testifying against Sammy Gravano in a Federal courtroom.

While there are MSM organizations which employ conservatives, they’re usually isolated with the same wariness with which people treat odd family members. Imagine the earnestly leftist reporter showing the new intern around the Newsweek offices: “oh, that’s crazy Uncle George (Will). We don’t talk about him much. He always sends us Brooks Brothers’ ties for Christmas.”

But even an acknowledgement by Alexander that The Post had dropped the ball and was now kicking it around the field represented a two-car-garage size crack in the dam. With the ineptitude of the Obama Administration leading to private admissions by Democrats that they are decidedly NOT facing a November to Remember, one would expect a good deal of wagon-circling by the MSM.

Whether it’s breathless coverage of the NAACP screeching about supposed racist elements in the Tea Party (while assiduously ignoring the racism of the former), or the ex-CNN shrieker Bill Press suggesting the voting public is a bunch of “spoiled brats” for not better appreciating the greatness of Obama & Co.—there IS a new ramping up of liberal talking points spewing out of the MSM blowholes of late.

Last Sunday, former Clinton staffer and DNC operative George Stephanopolous even managed to suggest on ABC’s This Week… that during Obama’s 18 months in office: “…if you set aside the Fort Hood bombing in Texas and the failed Christmas bomber, there has not been a major attack that’s been anything close to successful on American soil.”

Yeah, except those two. Next, he’ll be telling the Japanese that “…setting aside Hiroshima and Nagasaki, WWII really wasn’t too bad for you.”

Nonetheless, there is a flickering light shining in the wingnut-media-created intellectual darkness. Stephanopolous, who has spoken proudly of his daily confabs with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, was trying to tout the anti-terrorism credentials and accomplishments of the Commander-in-Chief. However, his guest—Washington Post (there they are again!) writer William Arkin—stomped him flatter than a 5-cent steak.

Confronted with Stephanopolous’s fatuousness, Arkin retorted: “Well, I think it’s always good to set aside the things that are most significant in terms of countering what it is that the government would like to put out as the good news.” Touche’.

It’s a long way to the proverbial Tipperary of the MSM eliminating their decidedly leftward tilt. Andrew Alexander certainly does not speak for the entire rogue’s gallery that is today’s media. But the fact that he’s speaking at all speaks volumes.

    For many years (longer than many progressives have been alive), America’s prostitute, lamestream media has been grossly overpaid while dishing out one-sided bs and yellow journalism.
    The fact that the lamestream media ALWAYS tried to gloss over its openly-subjective “skills” made matters worse. But, nothing lasts forever. Until recently, conservatives had to endure a twisted mentality that said “if it appears on radio or TV,
    it MUST be a FACT.”
    Declining ratings, blatantly prejudiced newspapers and incompetence-on-steroids no longer guarantee that “journalists” can lie with impunity. These ‘journalists’ are wringing their hands and conservatives are LOVING it.
    Most people love free speech. Some don’t. Many see the connection between free speech and the 2nd Amendment. Some deny it. Most of us love freedom. Some want to enslave America via ‘engineered free speech’ and ‘social justice.’
    There is a war being waged between freedom and slavery in America, and conservatives WILL NOT decide when or if this war of words and ideas will morph into physical confrontations, threats or worse. THAT fateful decision is up to ‘the other side.’

        Coverage of the Obama administration by the “mainstream” news organization has been so dangerous to this country. They have propped up this administration and slowly led the country to believe that Obama is not the leftist/socialist/statist that he and the rest of the democrats are. In two years this administration with the help of press has managed to turn a recession into a depression,(yes that is what it is). The mainstream press has participated into the slow dismantling of this nation’s private sector by the government. We may never recover.
        Obama is bad enough by the most frightening thing is the millions of people who support him.

          I’ve been saying this for ages. The REAL PROBLEM is NOT so much ‘O-ruin-us’ and his LOONEY LEFTIST cronies, but is instead the ”’VOTERS”’ who put them in power. Those same voters had best be convinced, shown the error of their ways come November, or we are very likely to have more of the same. I for one think that much of our EFFORTS here, and elsewhere, should focus on the REAL problem, LIBERAL VOTERS. They MUST be convinced to vote differently.             It is not only the voters fault but also the NON_VOTERS whom may have very well voted for a different and much better candidate ticket. We all need to get these people registered to vote and get them to vote in ALL future elections.

            This is what the Obama group did and excelled at doing. Heck they even got some people to vote more than once from what I am hearing.

          Well said. I know all about what is going on and trying to convince some people that they made a mistake in placing their vote where they did only creats a war of another kind ! I had a friend for over 30 years and this last election we had a conversation about parties for the first time. I always knew they were democrat but I never believed that they could be so intrenched in the party that they would vote party no matter who or what was running for election ! It is almost as though they feel they don’t have to think about who is qualified or what is their background or education, experience or even if they are citizens ! They trust the party to make all those judgments and then they just vote the party and all is good ! In my book that is not only lazy but brain dead ! I don’t trust anyone with my life but me ! I especially don’t like putting a Marxest socialist in office. This friend even asked me what the hell was a socialist anyway? She didn’t know what everyone was talking about and we should just give him (Obama) a chance !!!! I don’t think this person will even have a clue as to what she is having to live with the rest of her life once we have all become socialists! I tried to explain to her what was going on and out of the blue she started making disparraging remarks to me about living in the south and being brainwashed by those Southern Baptists ! I have no clue where that came from within her but it surfaced ! Needless to say I don’t bother with her anymore. There are just some people that no matter what you do you will not convince them to see things differently. I now group her with several other idiots I know !

        There haven’t been many honest journalists around for a number of decades. I was a journalism major in the early 70′s at the time of Watergate. I decided not to pursue a career in journalism because I did not like the direction journalism was going. A very well established reporter on our local NBC affiliate quite her job and got out of journalism for that very same reason. While at college–actually it was a community college–I worked on the school paper. My last story that I was assigned to do was to interview Marine Corps recruiters who were on campus. I think I was assigned the story because I had shoulder length hair, wore a leather suede jacket with long fringes and the whole hippy bit and they probably figured I’d write a negative story. What they did not know was that I had spent three years in the army and served in Vietnam and was very much pro-military. Anyway, I wrote a positive story which they did not print. They used the excuse that they did not have enough space. My story would have almost taken up a full page. The newspaper was eight pages, but, so they could justify not printing my story, they only published a six page paper for this one time only. I have a very low opinion of journalists. As low an opinion as I have of politicians.

          I too learned the hypocrisy of the left while in college. At the time I might even have leaned left, but I was always thoughtful and fair.
          The Liberals were constantly whining about not getting to “say their piece” in government affairs. So, we had an ROTC presentation one day and the same people were heckling the speaker to the point where he could not give his statement. So much for speech tolerance. I learned from that and other experiences that they are not about reason. They just want their way and will use whatever manipulative tactics they can muster to achieve that goal.

      SC, not sure just how old you may be, but keeping things in perspective, I’ve looked up some history on progressives and the MSM. At the turn of the 20th, yes 20th century, progressives were already wide spread in politics, and many of today’s news papers were established by early politicians, just to influence the voters. So this behavior is over 100 years in the making. Now we’re just more aware, and fed up, with it all.

        By the way, isn’t it funny how progressives and their simian allies can recognize the “dangers” of Caucasian ex-pats from Europe, but fabian socialism, communism, fascism and progressivism ALWAYS get a collective free pass and are considered as pure as the driven snow?         I agree with you to a point, but I feel we are moving at a very fast rate toward the darker side, “thats not a racial insult to anyone” its a saying.

        Ben as you must know it was Walter Lipman, who said that “Truth and News are not the same.”
        As well he said that the “Ignorant mass’s need not concern themselfs with truth, they only need be told what we tell them.”

        As you also must know Lipman is known as the “Father of modern Media,” Thus when we have the modern media using outright propaganda to achieve thier ends, such as the election of Barry Soetoro as a clear case of this behavior.

        The mass’s who use mediums such as MSNBC, MSN, NBC, CBS, etc. are being given false information at best to form opinions on, such as who to vote for etc.. This bring the question to the fore how will this effect the VOTE, how will it effect the country as a whole when truth is never given but rather spun opinion based on out right rhetoric let alone lies.

        Yes, I feel that some see throught this haze and smoke, but the clear facts are that as many as 80% don’t.
        This in turn brings about a population that is with out sight, with out TRUTH, and as the 1st Amendment is chipped away by the marxist who not only own the media; and now the government, we face an incresing possibility that this right we were granted over 200 years ago will soon be nothing but dust on old paper.
        That being said it will make no differance how high the light is held.

        The facts are that the media noted above are so preverted that if you ask someone walking down the street a direct question, they will respond with utter nonsence, as in sound bite spin, the depth of their understanding is based on thin air.

        Why, the rhetoric so deep that we are slipping into the darkness of the abyss, thus its incumbent of all who can and do see whats really going on to speak out with a loud and clear voice.
        As if we don’t question, and we don’t stand up and ask why over and over we are doomed to an end that will be less than plesant.

        Our free speech problems go back at least as far as Woodenhead Wilson (WWI). Back then, you could be jailed/imprisoned for daring to have doubts about our presence in an UNNECESSARY WAR (WWI). England and France didn’t need us. Their financial masters needed fresh MONEY via fresh blood, and we just happened to be on the central bankers’ ‘A list.’
        And then came WWII, Korea, Vietnam and up to and including the latest, current adventure in the continuing international redistribution of wealth in Iraq and Afghanistan (aka trading war for peace,

      Or maybe, they are “toning” it down for other reasons? For example, Glenn Beck might have made a personal and business decision to focus more on “education.” I think he even claimed at one point that he realized what he really needed to do was focus more on American values. He only gets an hour, so he has to choose what he does. As for Fox News as a whole, if I believed that we were headed into a dictatorship with loss of freedom of speech imminent, I would make either one of three choices. 1. Go strong knowing that I am going down in flames of glory having stood for freedom. 2. Become more subtle with my message to try and preserve the concept of freedom in the hopes that Americans will remember one day and take back their rights–something you would have to carefully do. Carefully scaling back on outright declarations and becoming more subtle. 3. Choose to abandon my viewpoint and subjugate myself to the viewpoint of the coming controling politic. By the way, I oppose option three for my own personal stand and I hope I personally never adopt it though I know many good people will. While I never lived during World War II, I am inclined to believe that many good people simply let themselves be led in the hopes that they would be left in peace to live their lives and raise their families. We may argue about how that it could be considered to make them accomplices to a great evil, and in some respects I would agree that it did, but I know in my heart that does not make them evil nor does it make them dumb and blind. There is much in life we choose not to see. It was not long ago, just a couple years ago, that I ignored politics because I probably didn’t want to see what I knew was probably happening. A lot of it disgusted me then, but I was single and didn’t have a wife and kids to worry about. I had no responsibility to the future. Now I feel I do, and as much I once avoided it, I know find I have strong feelings on many subjects. Some of my stands have not changed as I have learned more, but perhaps become more refined. As for the mainstream media, unfortunately, I think we might have to live under a true dictatorship and regain our freedom before they are “cleaned” up. In other words, they might have to be seen as totally compliant with a known dictator before they tossed aside along with such a government. Unfortunately, although the free market and ratings seems to show that if government stayed out of it, this would be the case even before we enter a dictatorship, unfortunately many of them seem to be so stuck on their progressive agenda of the few selected intellectuals telling the masses what to think and what to do that they’ve become tied into our government so…. well, I don’t expect the markets to correct the problem because I truly believe government will step in again where it should NOT be and save these media companies and become their advocate for destroying their competition.

    I haven’t listened to or watch any MSM for over three years. I watch Fox News and get my info from the internet. I am always shocked and amazed by the information that everyday people DO NOT HAVE! You can not imagine my amazement when I asked people had they seen the Black Panther video touting the murder of white cracker people and their white babies. So many people said they had not seen it! So, I always direct them to where they can see it, because WE NEED TO KNOW THIS! WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT TRULY GOING ON, not just the made up story books tales from the MSM.

      The New Black Panthers are a joke. No more than young hooligans with a microphone making idiots of themselves. No one was even paying attention to them. I’m not sure how 2 people can even call themselves a group or Party. The Fox News network gave them the prominence they were looking for.(that 15 mins. of fame)If it wasn’t for Fox they would be a non issue and would have disappeared into the dustbin of history. Fox made these 2 guys newsworthy and well known. It’s already been proven that they did not stop anyone from voting or disrupt a polling station. Thus the aquittal.

        Eddie, the aquittal was simply political, read the facts, read the FEDERAL LAW that PROHIBITS any act of threatening, terrorism, or having a weapon near a polling station will clue you in to HOLDER and OBAMA”s true reasons.           The truth will also set you free if you care to quit flipping that one sided coin and coming up with the same results. First of all this Mr Shabazz (the one with the night stick) was arrested and jailed and rightfully so. Mr Shabazz is a high profile low life but did not physically harm anyone. Which is why the charges were dropped. As an American I wouldn’t let him or anyone else keep me from voting. This NBPP leader did not stop anyone from voting or control the voting machine or paper ballot. A very weak case. If someone walked away without voting because of this guy standing out front then they are easily swayed or didn’t think much of their vote. Everyone in Iraq would have stayed home on election day if that’s all it takes to intimidate someone. The “old Black Panther Party” has come out and roundly said that Mr Shabazz was wrong and condemned the NBPP. I know the past is the past but whites did stand outside polling places with guns and kept blacks from voting. No one was even arrested back then. More recently pro-gun activists (with far more deadly weapons) go to political rallies and intimidate folks and no one is arrested. Anti-abortion protestors stand out side peoples homes and threaten with pictures of dead babies and neighbors are angry at these protesters. No one is arrested. They even stand outside political rallies and convention centers and block entrances. That’s free speech but far more threatening and definitely voter intimadation. There are protesters for every cause; anti-war and pro-war and both sides are caught threatening others. Yes I have watched the antics of both. You seem to be saying it’s okay to showcase this Mr Shabazz (NBPP) to make Obama or Holder look bad when many Americans do far worse things and nothing is done about it.

            You are so wrong…at least get the facts straight before launching an argument. Shabazz was CONVICTED. The USAG dropped the case for “lack of evidence.” Now, maybe you can answer as to how a conviction was made, but somehow there was a lack of evidence?

            Kind of like Joe Nacchio(Quest).He was convicted and keeps saying he should be released for lack of evidence. He stole from thousands and got a light sentence. Convictions do get overturned but rarely and the intimadation case against Shabazz was extremely weak.

        Actually, serveral people DID walk away without voting. Most of them were white but some were black. One woman said that she was told by the two Panthers that if she wasn’t going to vote for Obama then she’d better just go home because she wasn’t going to be allowed to vote otherwise. She even called the police but they refused to respond. This was a black woman. Others reports similar intimidation by these two low-life animals.

          The police were called and The person with the night stick was arrested and hauled off. This Mr Shabazz the man with the night stick is the leader of the NBPP.         Other Black Liberation Theologians/ Philosophers are probably Al Sharpten, Louis Farrahcon, Jesse Jackson, Black Panthers…

    Fox News is just as mainstream anymore as NBC. While Fox occasionally might employ a liberal that person is usually isolated and far from prominent. Republicans fall silent on their failings all the time and fawn all over their political heroes.(Not all are heroic). Their rightward tilt is as obvious as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

      Fox has every side to the story that one might want to hear. None of MSM stations has given much time to the Libertarians, but Fox now has two prominant Libertarians with shows. I have seen no other news programs that even come close to Fox in presenting non-left points of view. And, as has been pointed out, they also give the mike to the Liberals to say their piece.
      The Liberals think Fox is right-leaning because they are used to the very left-leaning MSM stations, so a station that presents all sides seems to be right-leaning to them.

CNN and MSNBC do not report things if they make liberals look bad, and it turns out that many Democrats want to know what is going on. On the other hand, if someone wants to watch the fact-checking of a Saturday Night Live skit, Fox lets you down, but CNN and MSNBC have it covered.

    Ty, Ben Crystal for the article. As I sit here and try and figure out the why of Andrew Alexander’s piece even being allowed to be published…several thoughts come to me.

    1. That he’s a Patriot only doing what he can to help. (Maybe)
    2. The Post is “testing the waters” (like the old style sounding method using a rope & weight) to see how the public in mass will react to this article. This will give them insight on future decisions and actions.
    3. That with the changing times and what with the Obummer Titanic going down, people are becoming more involved (knowledgable) thus becoming more aware of what media outlets themselves are or are not doing (reporting).
    4. So with all this information, they may be trying to start taking the steps needed to ensure their own personal future of their paper (their jobs). They know how angry American’s are becoming with the current administration and everything attached to it…including the media. Like rats jumping a sinking ship…it will be interesting to see how the future reporting goes.

    All I can personally say is…Thank you. Thank you for this website and the important information that you bring forward for the rest of us American’s. Thank you for your continued efforts. You are all real Patriots as far as I’m concerned.

    eddie47d- You must not watch Fox much if at all or you would know ,while Fox openly states it is a conservative media outlet they do have democrats on to argue the other side to be fair. Also if you want to see and hear {ALL} the news , FOX and the internet is where you will get it because the lamestream media only reports something good for Racist Obama and his anti-American group!           The real problem is that liberals don’t have the compacity to think logically. Try using logic (facts) on one and you will usually see them switch to attacking by name calling or switching the subject. As one guy said once, “I know what I know; don’t try to confuse me with facts.”

          I would much rather have a discussion about politics or anything else with a computer programmer, who MUST think logically than with a liberal.

    If one watches NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CCN and then Fox, it is as you are on a different planet. FOX news is balanced and true facts are given and discussed from both points of view in commentaries, but there is none of that with the others. It’s a surreal phenomenon to switch from the progressive leaning stations to Fox and back. Actually, it becomes a real joke. But, I suppose the liberals will not do such a thing because getting the truth told only makes them bolt back to their progressive wombs of the lamestream media.
    Also, have you noticed how often the MSM uses the word racist in their present commentaries. I head a great definition of a racist: A Racist is one who is losing an argument with a conservative. For you uneducated liberals, that means that when faced with the facts, liberals revert to calling the opposition a racist.

      I no longer have my television even hooked up to an antenna due to all the political comments by – it seems – everyone on tv. My wife isn’t too happy but there usually isn’t commercials and comment during a movie on my DVD’s.

      The whole anarchist thing is just another manipulative tactic by the people in power and their sycophantic cohorts. There are a few in our party who want to do away with government but very few (less than 13%). But think about this: a person who thinks society can get along with no government is probably naively projecting his/her own morality onto the general population (meaning that because they are highly moral they assume others are also). We do need Government to protect us from people that would otherwise force themselves on others (kind of like the Liberals do). But now, Government has become the forcers. The foxes guarding the henhouse. I have heard the propaganda all my life that anarchy leads to chaos. But what is more certainly true is that too much Government is chaos, as with too many laws everybody is guilty of something which allows evil people in government to cherry-pick who they want to mess with. And it also causes people to become cynical and lose respect for the law which leads them to only obey the rules that they fear they might get caught breaking.
      Big Government is the Problem, Not the Solution.

    It seems they might take a hint if they looked at the more famous news reporters of the past to report JUST THE NEWS and not their editorialized version of it. They might get famous themselves.     Dear friends, Thank you very much for inviting me.

    I come to America with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic. We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe. This not only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West. The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe.

    First I will describe the situation on the ground in Europe . Then, I will say a few things about Islam. To close I will tell you about a meeting in Jerusalem .

    The Europe you know is changing.

    You have probably seen the landmarks. But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist destination, there is another world. It is the world of the parallel society created by Muslim mass-migration.

    All throughout Europe a new reality is rising: entire Muslim neighborhoods where very few indigenous people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might regret it. This goes for the police as well. It’s the world of head scarves, where women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps ahead. With mosques on many street corners. The shops have signs you and I cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity. These are Muslim ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Muslim neighborhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe . These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger portions of Europe , street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city.

    There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe . With larger congregations than there are in churches. And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will dwarf every church in the region. Clearly, the signal is: we rule.

    Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim: just take Amsterdam , Marseille and Malmo in Sweden . In many cities the majority of the under-18 population is Muslim. Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim neighborhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities.

    In some elementary schools in Amsterdam the farm can no longer be mentioned, because that would also mean mentioning the pig, and that would be an insult to Muslims.

    Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve halal food to all pupils. In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up almost exclusively by Muslims. Non-Muslim women routinely hear ‘whore, whore’. Satellite dishes are not pointed to local TV stations, but to stations in the country of origin.

    In France school teachers are advised to avoid authors deemed offensive to Muslims, including Voltaire and Diderot; the same is increasingly true of Darwin . The history of the Holocaust can no longer be taught because of Muslim sensitivity.

    In England sharia courts are now officially part of the British legal system. Many neighborhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves. Last week a man almost died after being beaten up by Muslims in Brussels , because he was drinking during the Ramadan.

    Jews are fleeing France in record numbers, on the run for the worst wave of anti-Semitism since World War II. French is now commonly spoken on the streets of Tel Aviv and Netanya , Israel . I could go on forever with stories like this. Stories about Islamization.

    A total of fifty-four million Muslims now live in Europe . San Diego University recently calculated that a staggering 25 percent of the population in Europe will be Muslim just 12 years from now. Bernhard Lewis has predicted a Muslim majority by the end of this century.

    Now these are just numbers. And the numbers would not be threatening if the Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate. But there are few signs of that. The Pew Research Center reported that half of French Muslims see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to France . One-third of French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks. The British Centre for Social Cohesion reported that one-third of British Muslim students are in favor of a worldwide caliphate. Muslims demand what they call ‘respect’. And this is how we give them respect. We have Muslim official state holidays.

    The Christian-Democratic attorney general is willing to accept sharia in the Netherlands if there is a Muslim majority. We have cabinet members with passports from Morocco and Turkey .

    Muslim demands are supported by unlawful behavior, ranging from petty crimes and random violence, for example against ambulance workers and bus drivers, to small-scale riots. Paris has seen its uprising in the low-income suburbs, the banlieus. I call the perpetrators ‘settlers’. Because that is what they are. They do not come to integrate into our societies; they come to integrate our society into their Dar-al-Islam. Therefore, they are settlers.

    Much of this street violence I mentioned is directed exclusively against non-Muslims, forcing many native people to leave their neighborhoods, their cities, their countries. Moreover, Muslims are now a swing vote not to be ignored.

    The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet. His behavior is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages – at the same time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad.

    Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion. Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules for society and the life of every person. Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means ‘submission’. Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives for is sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.

    Now you know why Winston Churchill called Islam ‘the most retrograde force in the world’, and why he compared Mein Kampf to the Quran. The public has wholeheartedly accepted the Palestinian narrative, and sees Israel as the aggressor. I have lived in this country and visited it dozens of times. I support Israel . First, because it is the Jewish homeland after two thousand years of exile up to and including Auschwitz, second because it is a democracy, and third because Israel is our first line of defense.

    This tiny country is situated on the fault line of jihad, frustrating Islam’s territorial advance. Israel is facing the front lines of jihad, like Kashmir, Kosovo, the Philippines , Southern Thailand, Darfur in Sudan , Lebanon , and Aceh in Indonesia . Israel is simply in the way. The same way West-Berlin was during the Cold War.

    The war against Israel is not a war against Israel . It is a war against the West. It is jihad. Israel is simply receiving the blows that are meant for all of us. If there would have been no Israel , Islamic imperialism would have found other venues to release its energy and its desire for conquest. Thanks to Israeli parents who send their children to the army and lay awake at night, parents in Europe and America can sleep well and dream, unaware of the dangers looming.

    Many in Europe argue in favor of abandoning Israel in order to address the grievances of our Muslim minorities. But if Israel were, God forbid, to go down, it would not bring any solace to the West It would not mean our Muslim minorities would all of a sudden change their behavior, and accept our values. On the contrary, the end of Israel would give enormous encouragement to the forces of Islam. They would, and rightly so, see the demise of Israel as proof that the West is weak, and doomed. The end of Israel would not mean the end of our problems with Islam, but only the beginning. It would mean the start of the final battle for world domination. If they can get Israel , they can get everything. So-called journalists volunteer to label any and all critics of Islamization as a ‘right-wing extremists’ or ‘racists’. In my country, the Netherlands , 60 percent of the population now sees the mass immigration of Muslims as the number one policy mistake since World War II. And another 60 percent sees Islam as the biggest threat. Yet there is a danger greater danger than terrorist attacks, the scenario of America as the last man standing. The lights may go out in Europe faster than you can imagine. An Islamic Europe means a Europe without freedom and democracy, an economic wasteland, an intellectual nightmare, and a loss of military might for America – as its allies will turn into enemies, enemies with atomic bombs. With an Islamic Europe, it would be up to America alone to preserve the heritage of Rome , Athens and Jerusalem .

    Dear friends, liberty is the most precious of gifts. My generation never had to fight for this freedom, it was offered to us on a silver platter, by people who fought for it with their lives. All throughout Europe , American cemeteries remind us of the young boys who never made it home, and whose memory we cherish. My generation does not own this freedom; we are merely its custodians. We can only hand over this hard won liberty to Europe ‘s children in the same state in which it was offered to us. We cannot strike a deal with mullahs and imams. Future generations would never forgive us. We cannot squander our liberties. We simply do not have the right to do so.

      I have copied your post quoting Geert Wilders into a Word file which I am emailing to a half dozen members of my family who are on my weekly list. This will fit right in with everything I’ve been saying to them.

      I’ve been into World War II off and on for a decade now. Around March I pulled out my share of the parents’ WWII correspondence and began to get everyone interested in how Dad’s letters fit into the chronology of the war … where his ship was during which battle, etc.

      A particularly telling piece of information I sent just before Memorial Day had my youngest brother sending everybody that amazing series of photographs of our American dead in the endless rows of American cemeteries in Europe, which appeared in response to Obama’s unpresidential comments about U.S. arrogance.       I’m an older female Baby Boomer who wasn’t into thinking about that horrific war too much, but as I’ve repeatedly told my family this summer, World War II didn’t really ‘end,’ and the Nazis didn’t exactly disappear or reform themselves.

      Furthermore, when 9/11 happened, the talk was soon all about Osama bin Laden, but I immediately asked everyone around me, ‘Why isn’t anybody looking at Indonesia?’ I recognized the ‘Egyptian’ pilot’s name, Mohamed Atta, as being virtually the same as one of the two men who declared Indonesia’s independence from the Dutch on 8/17/1945 (Mohammed Hatta and Sukarno). I had been immersing myself in the Insight Guide tour book on Indonesia and the Periplus Adventure Guide on Java Indonesia, and had read the superb capsule histories.

      The histories and the photographs, especially the photo of the Sultan of Yogyakarta and his chief wife (Insight Guide Indonesia [2001] pp. 46-47), enabled me (while flipping through an Obama magazine around August of 2007) to recognize those two illustrious leaders in the ‘family photo’ of ‘Lolo Soetoro’ and ‘Ann Dunham’ with baby Maya and little Barry (the Soetoro family photo can be seen on p. 42 of ‘Hopes and Dreams: The Story of Barack Obama,’ by Steve Dougherty; Tess Press; c2007 by Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers, Inc.).
