5.7-magnitude Quake Shakes Pakistan

QUETTA, Pakistan, Aug. 10 (UPI) — A 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook Pakistan early Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of injury or damage.

Local reports quoted experts as saying the quake was a shallow one with epicenter in the Kharan district in Balochistan Province.

USGS said the quake occurred at 5:53 a.m. local time, 631 miles southwest of the Pakistani capital of Islamabad and 172 miles northeast of Turbat in southern Balochistan.

But the tremors reportedly were felt in other parts of Balochistan and in Karachi, capital of Sind province.
