Rick Perry: Texas Will Not Be Held Hostage By Obama
Republican Texas Governor Rick Perry said in a recent interview that he refuses to bow to the Administration of Barack Obama in accepting Medicaid expansions in his State.
“Texas will not be held hostage to the Obama administration’s attempt to force us into this fool’s errand,” Perry said Monday.
Perry is one of a handful of U.S. Governors refusing to accept an expansion of Medicaid, which would flood the State with Federal dollars. The Texas Governor cites Medicaid’s uncertain future and the “unlimited role if government” in the program in his opposition.
“We care about our poorest Texans,” Perry said. “We want them to have the best care possible, and that cannot happen with a program that is on its way to bankruptcy.”
