- The food stamp program is the biggest it’s ever been, with an average of 46,609,072 people on the program every month of last year. In the month of December 2012, 47,791,996 people were on the program.
- The Air Force quietly reversed a policy of sharing the number of airstrikes launched from drones and quietly scrubbed those statistics from previous releases kept on their website.
- Afghan police and military personnel are still gunning down American soldiers.
- Donald Trump said during a recent interview that he might consider paying to keep the White House open to the public: “It’s always been that simple, and it’s always been open, and it’s certainly not a lot of money… we have $17 trillion in debt. Closing the White House tours is not exactly the biggest thing on the agenda.”
- Frustrated Americans tried to do mainstream media’s job via Twitter when first lady Michelle Obama announced via her Twitter feed that she’d be taking questions at #AskFLOTUS.
- A U.S. park ranger is the latest Federal employee to come forward saying that supervisors within the National Park Service overruled plans to deal with the budget cuts in a way that would have had minimal impact on the public. “Apparently, they want the public to feel the pain,” the ranger said.
