The Tax Rebellion Begins

February 7, 2013 by

Hello, I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. Mr. Obama, you have a big problem. A tax rebellion has started.

Phil Mickelson is one of the most famous athletes in the world. He is worth in the vicinity of $100 million. Last year, he made almost $50 million. Yet he doesn’t want to pay California’s high taxes.

Tiger Woods is far more famous and worth far more (more than $1 billion), yet he agrees with Mickelson. He recently admitted that he left California in 1996 for the exact same reason: high taxes.

In the same week, famed boxing promoter Bob Arum announced that superstar boxing legend Manny Pacquiao’s next fight will not be in held in America. The man who makes tens of millions of dollars per fight refuses to pay Barack Obama’s higher U.S. income taxes. He is considering Mexico City, Asia, or Dubai for his next fight. Can you imagine?

Then, Tina Turner went public. She is renouncing her U.S. citizenship to become a citizen of Switzerland, which just happens to have lower taxes than Obama’s America.

But these are just the rich celebrities courageous enough to go public. This is merely the tip of the iceberg. The rich are fleeing in droves. The Obama tax-and-spend Ponzi scheme is imploding.

What changed? The technology revolution has made it possible to do business from places where the taxes are lower (or nonexistent) and where the government treats people better. Obama had better learn this lesson fast, because this tax rebellion is spreading to millions of Americans with far smaller incomes or assets than Woods’, Mickelson’s or Pacquaio’s.

The signs are everywhere that a tax rebellion has begun. The latest U.S. census showed us that the States with the lowest taxes enjoyed the fastest population growth — States like Nevada, Texas, Florida and Arizona. Not surprisingly, the States losing the most population are all high-tax States like California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and, of course, Obama’s Illinois.

These States that Americans are running from are all governed just like Obama wants to govern the entire country. Soon, these same Americans running away from California, New York and Illinois will instead be running away from America.

Ask the co-founder of Facebook, who recently renounced his citizenship and left for Singapore (where the capital gains taxes are zero).

Ask big-time Democratic contributor Denise Rich, who recently renounced her citizenship to leave for Austria.

The trickle is turning into a torrent. Record numbers of wealthy Americans are giving up their citizenshipeight times more than before Obama became President.

Of course, we already know that only one year after the U.K. imposed a millionaire tax, two-thirds of the millionaires in England disappeared off the tax rolls.

We already know that millionaires are escaping France at a record pace because of high tax rates imposed by the new Obama-clone Socialist President of France. Even actors like Gerard Depardieu have been forced to abandon the country they love.

The famous actor isn’t alone. Requests by citizens to leave France are up by 500 percent.

But then came the coup de grace. Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has just announced he is leaving France because of taxes. High taxes are even chasing away the former Presidents from their own countries.

High taxes work great in France. The nation’s labor minister announced just this week that France is “totally bankrupt.” His words.

I understand all of this only too well. I’ve got my own “escape from taxes” story. I arrived in sunny Southern California in 1989. I fell in love. I thought I would never leave. I woke up every morning to walk on the beach and to watch dolphins swim from my deck.

Unfortunately, during the next decade, California grew more and more desperate. Taxes were raised again and again. There were so many rules, regulations and lawyers that it became impossible to run a business in California. So I escaped to Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is “America’s Monte Carlo.” It’s a place with no State income tax, business income tax, capital gains tax or inheritance tax, and it has the 16th lowest property taxes in America. It’s a place where the State constitution bans income taxes, limits the time politicians can meet and welcomes guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens. I call it heaven.

Mr. Obama, the secret is out. Taxes do nothing for productive people (like business owners or high-income earners). Nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada. It’s like burning your money in the fireplace. I’m a witness. I lived in New York for 27 years, then California for a decade. What did I get for all those taxes I paid? Nothing. But I did gain something fantastic: a much higher quality of life. The money I saved paid for home-school tutors for my oldest daughter. She was accepted to Harvard University. She’s now attending Oxford in the U.K. Would she be attending the two best universities in the world if I had sent her to public school? Lower taxes changed my life — and the lives of my family members.

Science magazine reported on a study of the unhappiest people in America. They all happen to live in high-tax States. The happiest people happen to live in low-tax States. Coincidence?

Maybe these citizens are happier because the economy grows so much faster in low-tax States. The Wall Street Journal reported on a study from the Kansas Policy Institute that shows that States without an income tax have significantly higher growth (59 percent versus 42 percent) over the past 10 years. They increased the number of jobs by 4.9 percent while jobs in the rest of the States declined by 2.6 percent.

Examples abound of Americans with high incomes and assets escaping from high-tax states. Between 2000 and 2010, 551,914 people left California just for one State, Texas, taking $14.3 billion in income.

Maryland has much higher taxes than Virginia. Between 2007 and 2010, more than 40,000 residents escaped from Maryland to become Virginia residents. They took $2.17 billion with them.

But New York is the poster child. The Tax Foundation reports that 612,520 people left New York and moved to Florida in the past decade, taking with them $19.7 billion in adjusted growth income.

Overall, 1.3 million residents escaped from New York in the past decade, taking with them $45.6 billion.

You know what they say about pigs: They get slaughtered. California is certainly a pig. Just like the PIIGS in Europe (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain) all chased away their richest citizens and business owners. Now they have nothing left. Their tax bases are destroyed. Add France and the U.K. to the list. They’re all going down.

If we let big-government progressives have their way, California’s sad story and Europe’s tragic story will also be America’s sad story. Obama is killing the American dream. Mickelson was only vocalizing what millions of business owners in America are thinking right now.

Here’s the reality: The high-tech revolution has killed the progressive and socialist dream. You can’t tax us to death, simply because you don’t own us. We have iPhones, iPads, iPods, smartphones, laptops and satellite TV. We can do business from anywhere in the world: from a beach in Sydney to a mountaintop in Nepal to a forest in New Zealand to a luxury high rise in Hong Kong. It’s called freedom.

Sorry, Obama, your dream is about to collapse. Ask Mickelson or the former President of France or all those millionaires missing from England or, soon, half the business owners in America.

Tax-and-spend is DOA (dead on arrival). I’m Wayne Root for PersonalLiberty.com. See you next week. God bless capitalism, smaller government and lower taxes. God bless America.

Wayne Allyn Root – SIR, THIS IS YOUR BEST ARTICLE.

You people are all nuts. It’s time for you to think about what you really are saying. Do you want America to survive or not? So go ahead, don’t pay taxes and you’ll get what you are wishing for. That will definitely turn us into a third world nation. Let China take over. [comment has been edited]

    • http://wildeyguns.com The Christian American

The time not to pay taxes is election time by putting people like Ron Paul in office. The other way reguires blood be shed, and it might be Mr. Woods.

    • Nadzieja Batki

DD, you identified yourself as a bigoted ignoramus.

When marginal tax rates set at over 90% duting the BOOM years of the USA to steer our fabulous wealth into the USA investment/financial sector to get a break, our nation thrived. Supply side has given our spoiled uber rich their tax break up front with less incentive to invest in America the Beautiful. That, plus the fact that our tax code, rife with corporate welfare (loopholes, exemptions, credits, write-offs) that makes public assistance look like small potatoes, rewards corporations that offshore jobs, has turned the best investments on Wall Street the returns being realized from sweatshops abroad, so that now our fabulous wealth is flowing into Red China and the deep pockets of a growing plutocracy whose wealth is purchasing more and more influence in our legislature, as the middle class and America the beautiful decline, while the top thives.
When you ask our most affluent citizens to place their shoulder to the wheel and chip in with the arduous task of saving the USA from an insolvency that they, along with the legislation they have bought and paid for, has played a major role in bringing to pass, cries of “class warfare” go up from these same economic traitors, their lackies in congress, and propagandist like Mr. Root here, with those they’ve managed to snooker, in strenuous and full throated agreement.

There are definitely a lot more people moving to Tennessee! Hopefully they don’t bring their liberal ideas with them, this is my only concern. We are a pretty conservative state and want to keep it that way.

    • R. Fine

      You betcha golly gosh gee!

    • mark

We have a somewhat similar problem when Tennesseans and other Southerners move up North. They certainly don’t bring their liberal ideas with them. But they do bring their racist ideas. So, I think you better brace yourself to deal with more Northerners who will promote education, tolerance, and compassion for their fellow citizens – not war, racism, and foreign invasions. Ideas acquired over a lifetime stick. People do bring their ideas with them, Jill.

Careful now yank, Chicago and New York are two of the deadliest, anti gun, meanest places in this country so you dont have much room to be talkin, so much for tolerance and compassion.

      • mark

Waldo, the black and hispanic street gangs of Chicago have zero compassion for anyone. But they are also all dead broke and aren’t moving anywhere. Liberalsl who locate to other states, sell their homes in the their states of birth and then puchase homes in the South or the Sunbelt.

      • Donna

The street gangs of Chicago aren’t liberals. They are Libertarians. Freedom with no responsibilities.

      • Waldo

        Mark
You liberals are the ones who want open borders and fast track citizenship, where do you think all those gang members came from? Most were illegals who came here for their chance to succeed and now are ruling these cities and running the citizens out. These gang members as you call them are terrorist and if we had control of our borders most of them would not be here. Slow down and think about your logic before you insert foot.

      • MLR

        Waldo.
The first president to fast-track citizenship and open boarders was non other than your conservative hero ( Ronald Wilson Reagan)

      • Donna

MLR, you are correct. Since Obama’s been in office there is more border patrol than ever before and more deportations than any President before him.

      • Waldo

        Donna
I think you come from the same far far away place Karolyn dropped in from.

      • Donna

Waldo, actually my family has been in this country since 1654, fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War (on the Confederate side), World War I and World War II. I’m sure I’m missing some of the wars. I still am an open minded person. I refuse to be racist, ignorant of how the government runs and I insist on being self sufficient. I’ve worked since I was 14 years old and I now deserve the Social Security and Medicare that I paid dearly into over those years. I will not accept the Tea Partiers to cut and slash those programs, whether they say it’s for people under 55 or not. My son is under 55, he is a Major in the Air Force and he too deserves to receive the programs that he has paid into all of his years of service.

      • mark

Hey Waldo, the overwhelming amount of Chicago street gangs are African Americans. They were born here. A lot of them are Puerto Ricans also. And like all Puerto Ricans they were born U.S. citizens same as you and me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/douglas.sawdy Douglas Sawdy

So tell me is this fool creating jobs, naw, more like driving more away..[racist comment removed]

    • R. Fine

This is the way you speak about your president? You sound like a clod and an ungrateful one at that. Clearly for all your views about how great America is you don’t have much respect for the democratic process.

      • budget thinker

Oh I am so sick and tired of being behind a “welfare” person who has the government paying for the food and housing but yet they rid a better car and live ina better house than my own most live in a single house section 8 so to speak.

This is sooo true. I live in Texas and I love it here. Ive always been proud to be an ameriican and thoughht Id never want to leave this country but recently I have been considering giving up my citizenship and moving to another countey. The amwrica Iv loved so much is dying. Losing our freedoms anim afraid our presudent is a muskim an soon will be tellng me I have to convert to his religion an sharia laws. No thanks! I love Jesus anI will not conform to his ignorant and brutal religion. Fact is if it walks like a duck and quacjs like a duck. Guess what? Its a duck. Im very sad that our leaders hae fallen inti greed. It will be there end!

    • Karolyn

Puhleez! You think you will be forced to be a Muslim? Give me a break! Stop listening to radicals! But, on the other had, we don’t need people here who are so fearful and who so sheepishly follow the herd that believes everything it reads. We need people here who believe in this country no matter what wackos have to say.

      • Waldo

        Karolyn
You must be from a place far far away………..

      • Joy Thompson

I don’t think we will be forced to be a Muslim, but I think soon, very soon, criticizing Islam will be classified as a “hate-crime”, with subsequent penalties. This criticism may be just telling the truth about what the Koran says, but, never-the-less, it will be classified a “hate-crime”. It will also be classified a “hate-crime” to tell the truth about what the Bible says, like saying that homosexuality is not OK and that abortion is wrong. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20.

      • Donna

        Words aren’t hate crimes.

Karolyn I guess your not educated enough to read the Quran, it says to convert all the infidels to allah or kill them, in their book lady, also says you can lie to infidels and that is okay says the liar allah, have peace with them but, not more then 10 years and that to rearm and fight again. Live in peace with your neighbor and when strong enough take over the land for allah. Read and learn your enemy to blind to see.

Karolyn, to be ignorant means not knowing, to be stupid means REFUSING to know. Neither is good.

Last man out shut off the lights on the way out. When the smoke clears all that will be left will be an overwhelming class of poor people. The US will slowly become the largets 3rd world nation in the history of mankind. No one ever discussions the simple demographic economic factors of abortion. The fact that the birth rate has fallen to its lowest level in American history is discussed by numerous red herring factors but abortion is never one of them. The US is now suffering the same misfortune that Japan has for the last 20 years. Maybe people should take a moment and read a bit of Harry Dent’s work on demographics and they could understand the evolution of the changing economy that has no youth to fill the baby boomers seats. This is why the US is begging for immigrants to come into the country.

    • Bill

      You are right, Karl
This issue with immigrants is all about votes. If the illegal immigrants were voting for conservative candidates, you would see the borders closed faster than you could blink an eye

We even do not know how to be a third world country. I like traveling to third world countries because life is cheap and you can get anything you want if you are willing to pay for it. We will have a bunch of unhappy poor people that want the good life and cannot have it.

  • http://twitter.com/advocacybz Karl Schilling (@advocacybz)

Obamacare is loaded with quasi “taxes” which increase the out of pocket costs fro all americans. This is on top of actual tax increases and yet Obama is still discussing more taxes. Presently you and I come out of pocket for sales taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, federal income taxes, medicare taxes, social security taxes, new Obamacare taxes, the list goes on and on, and the Libs in Congress are now discussing such wonders as mileage taxes and a new government retirement account which in essense would confiscate your qualified retirement savings in plans like 401ks, IRAs, Keoughs, or any ERISA qualified plans. It unfortunatel appears that if you have accumulated any wealth you are better off leaving then staying.

  • matforce

Taxes should be used to fund the things a society wants to do collectively. My bet is Tina Tuner did not leave the USA because of taxes but because the Swiss people act more civilized than Americans do. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson may be willing to leave California to go to Florida, but my guess is they are not williing to leave the USA to go to Mexico, regardless of the tax difference.

This country provided the opportunities for Woods and Mickelson and every other wealthy person to become wealthy. If they want to take advantage of those opportunities and not share in the cost to provide those same opportunities to others, it speaks way more negative of them than it does the US government, which btw, IS THE PEOPLE.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sorry, but I do not think it speaks negatively of Phil or Tiger to flee California and their unfair tax process. Why should they get raped, because they have applied themselves and become successful, while millions of illegal aliens get to collect from their work, while not paying a cent into the tax tillers? I think it shows they are smart, and have decided to not allow these liberal tax monsters to treat them unfairly. I mean, come on man. The rich are already paying more than most of us normal working folks will ever pay, and now you tell them to pay almost half of their earnings, just because they make a lot? And yet all those collecting food stamps and welfare and WIC and such, are receiving all these millions of handouts, yet not paying a dime into the system. This my friends, is exactly why California is bankrupt. And now that they have chosen to shake down those who are paying them the most, they are going to lose a lot of that money also, and it serves them right. You want equality in taxes, quit punishing the successful and rewarding the failures. Make everyone pay their fair percentage, not just ream those who are successful. Its not right. And by the way, I am not one of the rich, and I feel I am unfairly taxed anymore. I mean, I have noticed these last four years, despite making the same amount, that my federal taxes being taken out have climbed each year. Dont believe me, check out your tax stubs these past 4 years, and you all might find a surprise, that the Obama admin has been taking a little more and a little more and a little more, in the stealth mode, just doing it but not telling anyone.

      • Karolyn

Nothing was said about thinking negatively of Woods or Mickelsen.

    • Joy Thompson

What percentage of what Woods and Mickelson make do you think would be an appropriate tax? 30%? 40%? 50%? 60%? 70%? It is true that the Bible says that to whom much is given, (talent, resources, etc.), much is required, but really, what do you think would be fair? I remember that the first settler’s to our shores came as subjects of the King of England and set-up their communities as collectives. This system failed because the hard workers rebelled at having to “share-and-share-alike” with their lazy neighbors. I think it would behoove us all to take a moment and become students of history and learn why and how socialism/communism has failed wherever it has been tried. The Bible also says that the poor will always be with us and that we should help them. We’re not going to be able to do that very well if we’re all taxed to death, and we are forced to rely on our benevolent government, (which does such a magnificent job of handling our tax dollars now), to hand it all out as they deem fit. Give me a break.

      • Karolyn

I don’t have the info here, but I remember reading that the tax rates for the rich were much higher many years ago. They have just gotten greedier. After all, isn’t greed a good thing according to them? Warren Buffett lives in the modest home he has lived in for many years and drives his own regular car. They should all be more like him and the others in the following article.
        http://money.ca.msn.com/savings-debt/gallery/15-billionaires-who-live-frugally

Freeloader Karolyn, WHO are you to determine what kind home people should have or what kind car they should drive.

Sluggard Karolyn, WHO are you to instruct people who they SHOULD follow?
People spend THEIR money how they decide, not you, sluggish been.

Libtard Karolyn, Bill of RIGHTS is NOT Bill of needs. Go to work, move your fat buttocks, then you will have less time for your idiotic stupidity.

“You SHALL NOT covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife… nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” – God’s 10th Commandment (Exodus 20:17)

  • MLR

All these business men and their companies that want to leave the USA because of higher taxes. Let them go, and then DO NOT let them do business in the USA any more, and see how many come running back because their income is all but non-existant. The income divide in this country is as bad as it was in the 1920′s just before the great depression. For years you so called conservative people have been taking from the working class and giving to the wealthy, isn’t that a kind of reverse socialism?

    • Hedgehog

MLR; close, but not quite. What you are seeing is the “Robbing Hood” syndrome in action. Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Robbing Hoods steal from the working class, keep most of the money and give the rest to the rich! Socialism, like communism is just a buzz word to distract the gullible.

    • Waldo

If you worked hard you would/could be as sucessful as anyone else so you show your laziness by condemming those who do work for what they have. You are one of those who expect the government to take others wealth and share it with you and you sit on the couch and watch the view where three other lazy liberals spout hatred. I bet you also believe gun kill people and they should be banned and destroyed. You are one of the many who have drug this country into the mess we are in and the rest of us are paying your bills so KISS MY A$$

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Waldo, I couldnt agree more with every statement you made. I am so sick of this country rewarding failures and punishing the successful. Why is it ok to take someone who paid attention in school, got an education, or people like me that didnt have money for college, so I went to the Military and learned a trade, then we applied ourselves, and got good at what we do, and our companies pay us according to the talents we bring to them, then it is deemed a bad thing by the liberal left, and we should be punished and forced to give our money to these guys that choose to stand around on front porches, drinking 40′s out of brown bags and smoking dope all day, but they cant go out and get a job. Shoot man, Ive been working all my life, paying my bills, paying my taxes, and trying to save enough, so that when I retire, I can stand on my porch, drink a beer from a glass, smoke a hooter if I so choose, and not be a burden to anyone, having paid for it all from using the talents God gave me. Even God Himself says if a man doesnt work, he shouldnt eat. So why are we feeding all these people who wont work? Why do we as a society reward the lazy who just refuse to get a job? It tick’s me off also my friend.

      • MLR

        Beberoni,
I did pretty much the same thing you did in your life. collected unemployment for maybe 4 months in 40 years. But I have watched Big Business move jobs overseas, get hand outs from the government, get their taxes cut and my working class taxes raised. You ever think maybe part of the reason so many people get welfare is because upper level management wants to keep all the profits for themselves, the hell with the working man? that was at least partially responsible for their success, Oh wait workers that want good wages destroy business because they are the ones that make the decisions.

      • MLR

I work hard and have plenty of money, I also think it is not to much to ask to pay my taxes. After all it was this country that made it posible for me to have what I have. I am not the greedy type that love to use other people, get all I can out of them, then dump on them. A little more fair play by the rich would not be a bad thing

      • Karolyn

Money, money, money! All you people care about is money!

      • rhcrest

And all you leftists think about is taking our money!

      • Patriot

It never ceases to amaze me how it is considered greed to want to keep what I have earned, but it is called ‘fairness’ to take it from my by force and give it to someone else. Karolyn, MLR, You can ALWAYS volunteer to pay more in taxes. The IRS will happily accept your check. Just stop voulenteering MY money. My hunch, however, is that you look for deductions so that you pay less. And based on your ideology, that wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

      • http://personalliberty Alondra

Freeloader Karolyn, the difference between us, who are working, and you, parasites, is that we “care about” OUR money, and you, shameless Libtards, “care about” people’s money.

“You SHALL NOT covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife… nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” – God’s 10th Commandmant

These commandments prohibit the stealing of ANYTHING that belongs to another, including MONEY, which are the “FRUIT” of the man labor.

These commandments are as RELEVANT TODAY as they were 3,000 years ago.

“A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” – King Solomon

“The soul of the SLUGGARD DESIRES, AND HAS NOTHING; but the soul of the diligent shall be richly supplied.” – King Solomon (Pr.13:4)

“If anyone is not willing to work, NEITHER SHOULD HE EAT. For we hear that SOME AMONG YOU WALK IN IDLENESS, NOT BUSY AT WORK, BUT BUSYBODIES” – Apostle Paul (2Thes.3:10-12)

To begin at the beginning, awareness produces realistic self assessment. If you take awareness seriously, you find yourself asking some fundamental questions: Who am I? What do I want? What does the situation demand? A leader must ask these questions of him/herself and inspire his/her team to ask for themselves. Many would-be leaders shy away from psychology, but that’s not exactly what awareness is. In the recent biographical PBS program on Henry Ford, who had almost no inward gaze, his entire life, from childhood onward, was based on a rock-solid self-evaluation.

Ford knew he was special and had something important to contribute. He knew he wanted to make advances in machinery, and by the time he was twenty his focus turned to the automobile. He knew that he wanted to change the lives of common people by giving them cheap mass transportation, and this desire to improve the lot of the common man later extended to his own factory workers, who were given the highest wages in the industry (the famous $5 a day that Ford proposed in 1914), along with mandatory English lessons for a work force that was largely immigrant. Eventually Ford’s vision extended to building utopian communities in faraway pace like Brazil so that his ideal American worker could be a worldwide model.

LOL they deleted my second post !

Waldo so I’am paying your tax ! From 1950 to 1980 the top tax rate was 73%, your complaining about 39% ! My Grand Father still became a Millionaire with the 73% rate !
I’ve worked for 40 years, to give the Rich tax cuts and trickle down ! Reagan in 1981 dropped the top tax rate over half from 73% to 28%, so for 30 years I’ve been one of the people that has to make up the difference ! I’ve not asked for anything I haven’t asked for anything I haven’t worked for !

I just want the rich to treat me fairly, and pay their due I Did I tell you my Grand Father still became a Millionaire with the top rate of 73% ? Oh ya I did, and your complaining about what top rate ? Oh ya 39%, don’t worry I’ll pay the Diff !

    • Nadzieja Batki

MLR, you just can’t keep yourself from lying but maybe you can’t differenciate lies from truth when one has a Leftist mindset. The Leftists, which are pathological altruists, gave away money from the lower and middle and upper middle classes to the supposed poor through the force of taxation, regulations. The Leftist twatters created the “rich” that you now hate.

      • MLR

I don’t hate the rich. I just think they should show a little apreciation to those that made it posible to get rich, and I am 100% against gun control

      • Capitalist at Birth

MLR, Exactly, who are those that made someones wealth possible?

    • http://GreyWolf FastAkita

Could you please explain what you mean under:

      and also state some example?
If I understand properly this is the very core of ideology based on which socialist states were created and as we know all of them bankrupted.

      • FastAkita

        Sorry, the missing line is:
…so called conservative people have been taking from the working class…

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gee MLR, seems to me, that if you quit taxing the living hell out of the successful business’s, and stop rewarding failures like GM and Chrysler with billions of our tax payer dollars, these successful business’s will expand and grow, hire more workers, make more money, to pay more taxes with, and everyone wins. People get jobs, tax coffers take in more, etc, etc. But when you tax them unfairly as many are having done to them, and they sit and watch billions given to failure business, many of them have to power to say enough is enough, and they leave. And its not because they dont like the USA, its because they are tired of being treated like a leper, when they are already pouring millions into the economy and tax coffers, then they are told do ante up more. The liberals have got it all wrong. We need to quit chasing the successful businesses and running them out of the country. We need to embrace them, and do away with propping up failures like GM and Chrysler who have proven they do not know how to properly run a company, and whose solution is to cut corners and put out cheap junk and charge a higher price for it, to the point that no one wants it. That is exactly what they have done, and they dont deserve to be rewarded with billions of dollars of federal money to prop them up. Its wrong.

      • MLR

Who started bailing out failing business’s? Ronald Reagan and Alan Greenspan, that’s who, and it got way worse under GWB, Not getting any better with Obama.

      • Bob666

        Very true.

      • Karolyn

How about the opposite, where local governments are held hostage by corporations via tax breaks? States are also bidding to keep or get corporations. The corporate world holds all the cards.

      • Waldo

MLR what about the 50% of the individuals in the country who pay no tax and the rest of us are supporting them? I said fix the tax code so everyone including the corporations pay their fair share but that went right over your head didnt it?

      • Capitalist at Birth

What business did Ronald Reagan bail out, and what is his connection to Alan Greenspan? Are you daft?

      • Bob666

to ask that question-you have a short memory.

      • Capitalist at Birth

        That question was from MLR.

    • Waldo

MLR if you think about what you say you could answer your own question, the wealthy are generally big busniess owners of some type whose busniess’s have created many jobs and are the backbone of this country. They pay more tax than 90% of the population in many ways, there is earned income, payroll tax matching and unemployment contributions, if they are C corp they pay taxes on the companies income and then pay again on their personal profits. They are also the most taxed but to be fair we need a fair tax so everyone pays their fair share and not just 50% while the rest sit back and live on the rest.
Lets get serious with this discussion instead of bashing the wealthier, lets talk about tax reform and fixing the entitlements, lets quit extending the unemployment benefits for those now going on three years, do you think these individuals will ever go back to work now?
Our government pays women 1,500.00 on average for each child they produce so they do not marry their man, apply for assistance, then claim they cannot take care of the children so their mom adopts/fosters all of them so she collects all the money and the entire family just move in with mom. Why is our government paying for cell phones with unlimited minutes for just about anyone who applies? Why does our government allow those on welfare to have debit cards and not control what they can spend the money on? It has been doccumented millons are spent in Hiwaii and Nevda casinos, when they do go to the grocery store and use their card they buy junk food and beer not bread and staple food for the family. They live in government housing all the while driving lincoln’s and have 50″ big screen in the living room.
If we close our borders and controlled immigration, did not allow anchor babies, did not allow welfare to those capable of working, actually controlled food stamps and unemployment and made congress live by the same rules we have to live by then we would not have a deficit.

      • MLR

There are well over 100 fotune 500 companies that pay no income tax, many that get money from the IRS, General electric for example made nearly 4 Billion last quarter, tax bill + 20 million, the IRS gave them money.Of course the working class people that work for GE get to pay their income tax. So who is getting the most welfare dollars, the single pregnant mom, or Big Business?

      • Waldo

MLR what about the 50% of the individuals in the country who pay no tax and the rest of us are supporting them? I said fix the tax code so everyone including the corporations pay their fair share but that went right over your head didnt it?

      • MLR

Guess I missed that tax code fix,I am all for fixing it, but you think it will happen with the people we got in power, both sides. I voted third party

      • Waldo

        MLR
Tose who voted third party knowing that it could not possibly do any good are the one who got Obama re-elected and likely will be the final nail in our coffin. Romney I believe would have at least slowed or stopped this downslide and given us a chance to work on a fix, now we all will likely be standing in bread lines by 2016 in time to hand it to Hillary who will finish us off.

      • MLR

        Waldo.
Obama won, not because of third party voters but because of who the Republicans had running against him. Besides no matter which party is in charge it is more of the same, big money running things, if more people would vote third party maybe there would actually be some meaningful changes made.

      • Donna

I would be willing to vote third party if Mayor Bloomberg would run. He’s a rich man, Independent, Socially liberal, for gun control, but mostly he’s a common sense thinker.

wait….You would vote for someone that decides for you when it is time to stop eating, take away your large soda, decide that people shouldn’t have their medication for more than a few days, decide what level of salt is good for everyone, refuse to prosecute gun crimes, but make it harder for those that would never break the law to own them….because this is GOOD SENSE?? Move to NYC. Have Nanny Bloomberg decide what is best for you and your children. Just please, do not ever vote for anyone that would make those decisions for those of us capable of deciding for ourselves.

      • Donna

Are you obese? Go ahead, eat and drink all the junk, get your diabetes. Unfortunately, this country is becoming fat and lazy because they want their FREEDOM. Sometimes, someone needs to think for all the slobs who can’t think for themselves.

      • Patriot

Oh, yeah! Those IDIOTS that want to be free from a tryannical government that only wants to help by telling them what to eat and how much of it! The poor FOOLS!
So, Donna! You have established that it is just plain stupid to want (God forbid) FREEDOM. I mean, clearly, we need someone that knows best to tell us what to eat, how much to eat, whether or not we should be fat, how many bullets we should be allowed to have in our guns, how much salt we should be allowed to eat, and to make sure we dont get any trans-fats.
I think that we need to get someone in power that knows best how much TV we should watch, what we should be allowed to feed our kids, how many drinks we can have, what we should drive, where we should live, what music we should listen to, and certainly what books we should read. I mean, why stop at having someone ensure we eat healthy? We should get someone that has ‘common sense’ to be sure our minds and hearts are healthy too! The freedom to choose these things for ourselves is just too destructive. We need a wealthy politician that knows what is best for us all to decide these things. We should never be trusted with our own freedom. Liberty and individual sovereignty are ideas that only apply to elite politicians that have our best interest in mind. Right?

      • http://smoovious.wordpress.com Smoovious Laxness

Obama won because Republicans refused to vote for a conservative when they had the chance, twice.

They care more about party identity than they do actually putting their vote where their priorities are, and casting for someone who is actually about smaller government and more liberty for the people, like the lip-service they pay, claims to believe in.

They don’t think for themselves. They’re Republicans, they’ll always be Republicans, and they’ll always vote Republican. They don’t know enough, to know, that the person the Republicans ran, wasn’t even a conservative. He just had the Republican label on him.

They don’t even know their own history, and stay quiet while the Democrats keep claiming ownership over issues that the Republicans championed and the Democrats stood against!

They claim to care about smaller government and keeping them out of our lives as being their most important value, but then chuck it out the door, when their most important value reveals itself at the voting booth. Stopping gay marriage, or using gov’t to prevent people from making their own choices about what they can do with their own bodies, or any number of Evangelical priorities that are all about the social and the fiscal is barely an afterthought.

Those issues aren’t conservative, they are also liberal, they are just differently liberal.

A conservative position, is that it isn’t any of the gov’t's damned business who I choose to marry, what I do with my own body, what school I go to, what businesses I patronize, whether I use gas, diesel, natural gas, wind, solar, or steam, etc.

“None of your damned business” is the conservative position when it comes to politics. Anything less, is not conservative, and is a form of liberalism.

Our gov’t's #1 duty is defense. #2 is fiscal. Meddling, doesn’t make the list.

That is a very correct assumption. No doubt I am going to pay more, as I am a working man. But those who think he is all that, will soon find out it is their wallet he is after as well, and they arent going to like it when they have to start paying for this liberal cat’s agenda. Shame is, there are some really dumb people out there, who actually thought Obama was going to pay their gas bill, and mortgage and everything was going to be taken care of by him. How they got themselves that far off track, I dont know, but that is the picture they painted of him to themselves. Now they get to lie down in the bed they made. Sweet dreams.

I find it funny, that already I have crossed paths with 3 young people, whom all voted for Obama and talked about how great it was that all insurance was going to now be free because he was going to tackle the greedy insurance companies and doctors and such, and it would all be free and affordable now. Huh. Seems now, as they never carried insurance before, they are being told they will start carrying insurance soon, or there will be a monthly fine, that will keep growing if they refuse to get insurance. They stated that they never bought their work places insurance because they didnt want to have to pay 350.00 a month for it, and that they never incurred enough bills to warranty carrying it. But now they have to either start paying the premiums, which are going up drastically, or procure insurance on their own. I just laugh, and ask them “did you really for one second believe that what he wants to do was only going to affect the ultra rich”. Needless to say, they are pretty pissed. I told them, that next time, before they go pulling that little lever in the voting booth, to get educated about who and what they are voting for. That is a major problem today, the young watch too much TV, and we all know which party owns the major networks, and whose agenda they are pushing. Time for people to start learning on their own and not believing everything they hear on TV.

    • Cait

That is my dream. I educate the young on a daily basis and what they hear from me is not what they are used to. They get facts that come from reading source material–like the Obamacare legislation. I don’t watch the news, MSNBC – FOX. I think it is all for naught.

All media is twisted to suit the people behind the strings. The government is corrupt and will only get worse.

It actually gets worse. In 2016 you will have both the Clintons bck in the Whitehouse and be warned now, you will be bled dry. Those two dream about it every day and night and have already made their plans!

I could not even fathom American being that damn stupid. Of course, I have been wrong before, and recently. I thought no way American’s could be stupid enough to re-elect a guy that just had the worst 4 years any person has ever had in the office of the President, but they saw to it to let him screw it up for four more years. So now, I cannot doubt the stupidity of the voting public, as far too many uneducated youths and foreigners vote for something they are told by the TV is good for them, and they dont even have a clue. I still think there should be a test to take to be allowed to vote. Because it is important to know.

      • Gib74

Voter fraud is a great thing, isn’t it? Now that they’ve seen how well it works out for them we can look forward to seeing the same tactics in every election we’ll have in the future. Hillary will win in 2016 and 2020, then Moooochelle will be up 2028 and 2028 so she can REALLY be proud of America.

Here is how Obama got re-elected. Apparently “God doesn’t like ugly.” That is what a black teacher at a charter school said the day after the election as I walked through the halls of the inner-city school sad and aching because Obama won again.

Hey! Move to South Carolina! Low taxes! #6 in the top most corrupt states in the US! Poor infrastructure! High poverty level! Bad roads! High domestic violence rate! #1 in the nation in assault! #3 in women killed by men! Join the good ole boys for some fun ‘n fixin’s!

    • Alex Frazier

OMG, don’t tell them to move here with us! We have enough refugees from liberal states already. I’m terrified that all the New Yorkers and Illinoians will move here, bringing their Democrat bullsh*t with them, and outnumber the home grown native population of God-fearing, moral, ethical conservatives.

On that note, I would like to share the amusing thought that people in New York are leaving because life there sucks, while life here is excellent. And yet, they are so ignorant as to what it is that makes life in New York suck, and what it is that makes life here grand. So they flee the tyranny of New York to come to where taxes are lower, the cost of living is lower, the people are polite and friendly … and try to force their learned lifestyle of unions, higher taxes, inflated prices, and utter rudeness on the people who created and provided the very atmosphere that inspired the yankee to move here in the first place.

Give it enough time and enough yankees and South Carolina will become another New York welfare state as the native citizens are eventually supplanted or brow-beat into conformity.

I say … let the people in the States that have ruined themselves stay and sleep in the bed they have made. If they don’t like what’s happened to their home state, maybe it’s time they took responsibility for making a positive change to the way things are there.

      • Jim S

I have to agree Alex. A friend of mine, a native Floridian, was told how the Floridians screwed up the election between W and Gore with their “hanging chads”. Her reply, which was very true, was that it wasn’t the Floridians that screwed it up. It was all the Yankees (read New Yorkers and New Jerseyians) that had moved to Florida that screwed it up. They continue to move to places like Florida and Texas where there are no state income taxes, there is good weather and fewer progressive lawmakers and try to remake them into the failed states the so recently fled. Where are they going to go after they screw their new home states up? Stay up there and wallow in your misery or change your home state. Leave us alone.

      • Karolyn

I notice you had noting to sayto refute the “percs” I listed about this wonderful state. BTW – One of our local realtors is selling lots of homes to yankees. You’re probably one of those people who live near Columbia Myrtle Beach or Charleston – The only three places in the state that are up to modern standards, and those are the places that most of the yankees are moving to.
I say GREAT! Elect Vincent Sheheen governor in the next election! Bring SC into the 21st century!

      • Alex Frazier

        Bahh.

Define “corrupt” and give some relevant comparisons. Illinois and New York are worse than we could ever be.

Infrastructure is just an excuse to put unions to work. Ever heard of “bridges to nowhere?” That’s infrastructure. And it happens to be so expensive as to bankrupt states. That’s why the development of such things should be left to private entrepreneurs, just as Vanderbilt and Rockefeller laid their own tracks and ran their own pipelines.

Poverty is relative. We have fewer homeless than California, New York, or Illinois. We also have less money here because the cost of living is lower here. Consequently, the cost of doing business here is lower. Because all of this is lower, the state doesn’t need to provide as much of a dollar amount to those in need. So even in our poverty, we are handling our own better than the democrat states.

If you think our roads are bad, try driving in Illinois. Or trying paying to drive on them in New York. I’m not terribly unhappy with our roads. No worse than Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, etc. Tennessee’s roads kind of suck, though.

We do have domestic violence. But it’s better than being one of the four murder capitals of the country; Illinois, New York, California, and Massachusettes. The same goes for assaults. I’d rather get punched in a bar than shot in a drive by.

And for the record, I live in Greenville. Greenville may not have much compared to larger metropolitan areas, but we have what we need. If I ever feel the need to hang out in a big city, Columbia is only an hour and a half away. For that matter, Atlanta is less than three hours away, and Charlotte is less than two.

        That being said … :o P

      • Karolyn

Alex – I would love to live in Greenville. More opportunity, more life. Here in the Sandhills there is nothing. You did not address the fact that SC is the 6th most corrupt state in the country (and it is a red state!)

      • Alex Frazier

No, I did. I asked you to define “corrupt.” There are lots of ways politicians can be corrupt. Do you mean corrupt as in stealing money? Do you mean corrupt as in breaking the law and getting away with it via their position of authority? Do you mean corrupt as in having affairs while being in office? Do you mean corrupt as in trying to subvert the rights of the citizens?

What does “corrupt” mean? And on what basis was it decided that we were the sixth most corrupt state? And by whom? What are the statistic? Is it possible that we’re merely forty-fourth in the nation in our ability to hide the corruption? Or have they determined corruption on the basis of liberal agendas, such as voter registration that liberals exclaim denies people the right to vote?

I can tell you that South Carolina is by far one of the most conservative states in the country. Not the most conservative (since so many yankees moved here), but still one of the top states. In South Carolina, we still believe in God. I don’t know what corrupt means in the interpretation of those who put us at sixth in the nation, but I can tell you that apart from typical politician shenanigans, I don’t see it.

This was written by a so called racist….he must have been labled by a liberal, because the story has too many facts of the destruction of everywhere the liberal infest!

The Fable of the Ducks and Hens

“Many, many years ago, When animals could speak.
A wondrous thing the ducks befell, their tale is quite unique. Down by a pond dwelt all these ducks, Ten thousand at the least. Their duckish joys were undisturbed By any man or any beast. One day down near the entrance gate,
There was an awful din. A hundred hens all out of breath
Were begging to come in. “Oh let us in!” these poor birds cried,
“Before we do expire!” “Tis only by the merest inch
That we escaped the fire!” Their feathers burned, their combs a droop,
They were the saddest sight. They’d run a hundred miles or more,
All day and then all night. “Come, come in!” the ducks all quacked,
“For you our hearts do bleed! We’ll share our happy lot with you,
Just tell us what you need!” And so these poor bedraggled hens
Amongst the ducks moved in. For, after all, the ducks declared,
“We’re sisters ‘neath the skin.” Before too many months had passed,
The hens were good as new. They sent for all their rooster friends,
And these were welcomed too. To please their host, these chickens tried
To waddle and to quack. To simulate the duckish ways
They quickly learned the knack. This pleased the flock of ducks because
It gratified their pride. ….But hear my tale and learn how they
Got taken for a ride. The ducks, it seemed, spent all their time
In fixing up their place, In growing food and building homes
And cleaning every space. They asked the hens what they would do
To earn their daily bread. “We’ll teach and write and entertain,
And buy and sell,” they said. And so these hens began to teach
        The baby ducks and chicks.
They traded food and eggs and things,
With many clever tricks. They wrote great books & put on shows,
Of genius they’d no lack. It wasn’t long till chickens owned
The Duckville Daily Quack. One day a mother duck who took
Her ducklings to the lake, Was flabbergasted when one said,
“A swim I will not take!” “Why ducklings always swim!” she gasped,
“It’s what you’re built to do! Like bunnies hop, and crickets chirp,
And cows most always moo!” “Your just old fashioned, a fuddy duck,
That stuff is all old hat!” “It’s wrong for birds to swim; …besides,
It’s too cold on my little pratt!” “Oh fie!” the mother duck exclaimed,
“You’re talking like a fool!” Up quacked the other ducks and said,
“He’s right! Ms. Hen taught us that in school!” “Such things must stop!” the mother cried, “Those hens can’t teach such lies!”
“For sheer ingratitude and nerve, I’m sure this takes the prize!” ….But she was wrong, for even then The hens did thump the tub.
Demanding they be let into, The Duckville Swimming Club. “But you don’t swim!” the ducks all cried, To join, why should you care?”
“That’s not the point!” the hens replied,
“To exclude us isn’t fair!” The younger ducks, who’d been to school,
Agreed right there and then, “To keep them out is bigotry!”
“T’would just be ANTI-HEN…!” Outnumbered by the younger ducks,
The old ducks soon did loose; They agreed to let the hens all in,
If they would pay the dues. That night the Duckville Daily Quack
        Contained this banner spread:
        “Reactionary Ducks Are Licked!
DUCKVILLE MOVES AHEAD!” Down at the Duckville Gaiety,
The younger set laughed with glee,
At cracks about “Old Fuddy’ Ducks” In burlesque repartee. Next day the hens were at the club,
        A petition they’d sent around.
They objected to the swimming fund
With fury and with sound. “You use our dues to fix the pond,
to keep it neat and trim.”
“And this is wrong,” they said, “Because
You know we do not swim!” “God help us!” cried a wise old duck,
        “These chickens have gone mad!”
“We’ll take this to the court, by George,
And justice will be had!” But when they went up to the judge,
Imagine their dismay! A CHICKEN-JUDGE decreed that they
Had a heavy fine to pay! “Minorities must have their rights!”
The judge declared right then. “To use hen’s dues to fix the pond
Is very ANTI-HEN…!” Once more the Duckville Daily Quack
Emblazoned across the page: “Old Foggy Ducks Refuse to See
The Great New Coming Age!” In Duckville church on Sunday morn,
The preacher spoke these words, “Discrimination’s got to stop!
Remember we’re all birds!” The wisest duck in all the town
Sat down in black despair. “I’ll write a book,” he thought, and then
“This madness I will bare!” “Let Swimmers Swim, let Hoppers Hop,
Let Each One Go His Way. Let No One Coerce a Fellow Bird!”
Was what he had to say. “Twas wrong to force the hens to swim
So here’s the problem’s crux; It’s just as bad for hens to try
To chicken-ize our ducks!” “I can’t print that,” the printer said,
“Twill put me in a mess!” “My shop is mortgaged to the hens,
The chickens own my press!” This worried duck then tried to warn
His friends by speech and pen. Young ducks fresh from school just jeered
“He’s one of those a vicious Anti-Hens…!” Now up the stream a little way
Was Gooseville, on the lake. The hens had come to Gooseville too,
But the Geese were more awake. When the hens began to spoil the young
And Gooseville’s laws to flout, The Geese Rose Up in Righteous Wrath
        And Simply Threw Them Out…!!! Of course, you know where they all ran;
On Duckville they converged. “We’ve got to take these refugees.”
Was all Duckville’s hens had urged. The Duckville Daily Quack declared:
“These Geese Will Stop at Naught! “They Plan to Conquer all the World!”
“Atrocities They’ve Wrought!” “That’s right!” the young ducks agreed,
“We’ll help our fellow birds! These Geese have plans to conquer us!
….We’ve read the Quack’s own words!”
They let the hens from Gooseville in, The whole bedraggled pack.
        …. And every hen took up a job on the Duckville Daily Quack!! When the Duckville mayor’s term was up, The Quack put up it’s Duck;
A vain and stupid duck was he, A veritable … cluck! But when he praised the wild young ducks, And cursed the evil Geese,
The Quack declared he was “all wise,”
        His praise would never cease.
The hens chipped in to help this cluck
Give grain away for free. The old ducks sadly shook their heads,
The writing they could see. And sure enough, this stupid duck,
He was elected mayor. From this point on, The Duckville ducks,
They never had a prayer. he Mayor said, “Gooseville must GO!”
“We’ll wipe them off the map!” While Duckville slept, the scheming hens
        For Gooseville set the trap. They called the Geese by filthy names;
They filled their pond with sticks. They helped the weasels catch the Geese,
and other hennish tricks. The Geese got mad and threw the sticks,
        “It’s WAR!” the Quack announced.
“We ducks must Fight those evil Geese,”
“Till they’ve been soundly trounced!” The ducks (who knew not of the tricks
Indulged in by the mayor), Were filled with patriotic zeal,
And pitched right in for fair! So when the ducks whipped the Geese,
The Mayor called “Retreat!!” “Our HENVILLE friends should really take
        Gooseville’s big main street!” the hens were back in Gooseville now;
They starved and beat the Geese. They prayed for “Peace” — but organized
The “HENVILLE ARMED POLICE!!!” They drained the Geese’s swimming pond,
They “De-Goose-ified” their schools; They wrung the Gooseville mayor’s neck
        On lately made-up rules. They formed a council of the hens;
“UNITED BIRDS” the name. The other birds who joined the thing
Did not perceive the game. No sooner had they set this up,
Than they announced their hennish plan: To seize up Swanville as a home For all their hennish clan. They took a vote among the hens,
And everyone approved! “Swanville was for HENS!” they said,
“Way back, before we moved,” And so they kicked the swans all out,
With Duckville’s help and power And Duckville couldn’t understand
Why swans, on them turned sour. By this time, Duckville was a mess,
        The young ducks had all gone mad. They stole and laughed at Truth and Law;
They went completely “bad.” The hens were selling Loco Weed
in every nasty den. But ducks who dared to mention this,
Were labeled “ANTI-HEN…!” The hens all preached of “Tolerance,”
They invoked the “Golden Rule,” But they subsidized the indigent,
The greedy and the fool. At last the very dumbest ducks
Began to smell a rat. “This mayor is no good!” they cried,
“And we will soon fix that!” But the hens had planned for even this
A candidate they had, Whom even wise old ducks believed
Just never could be bad. This Hen-tool duck whipped the Geese,
A soldier Duck was he. Although the hens had set him up,
The Ducks all thought him free. This Hen-tool got elected,
Through ignorance and greed, Through hennish lies in Press & Speech,
Through Bribes of “Chicken Feed.” the hens now kicked the ducks around
Without a blush of shame, Until the mayor ran the town
        In nothing else but name. They pumped the Duck’s pond all dry;
They taught the ducks to crow, While duckish numbers dwindled,
The hens began to grow. The hens stirred up the happy crows
        >From out of the piney wood, To Fight to Mix and Marry ducks
in the name of “Brotherhood.” Things got so bad that fifty ducks,
Who knew the days gone by; Took up their wives and children
        And decided that they’d fly. They flew through storms and tempest;
They froze, and many died. But on they drove, until, at last,
A lovely lake they spied. They settle down exhausted,
But soon went straight to work; To build and clear and cultivate,
        No danger did they shirk.
Now after many years of toil, This little band had grown.
The fields around were full of grain From seeds that they had sown.
The first ducks were long since dead; Their struggles long had ceased.
Through hard work and suffering, Their joys had been increased.
        One day down near the entrance gate There was an awful din;
A hundred hens, all out of breath, Were begging to come in.
“Oh, let us in!” these poor birds cried, “Before we do expire!”
        “Tis only by the merest inch….” “… … … …”
….This epic really has no end,
Because No matter how you fight em,
Those HENS’ll show up every time.
        And so, …Ad Infinitum …!!!

Too bad they missed you. It’s is not too late.

Tina Turner gave up her US citizenship because she loves Switzerland and has lived there for many years. She, and I am sure others, do not fit into this paradigm. And just what is a “drove” anyway?

    • Nadzieja Batki

Good riddance to Tina Turner. Now let her earn the millions from the Swiss if she can, which she won’t because she is a worn out has been.

      • Karolyn

Jealous? Have you seen Tina Turner lately? And the fact is that she doesn’t have to “work” anymore.

      • Nadzieja Batki

Karolyn, you are not very bright. Tina Turner to make herself look good pays people to make her look good. How long do you think her money will last when very little is coming in and she has to pay all the hangers on that live off of her, like lawyers, pr agents, her clothes makers, make up people, hairdressers, shoemakers, drivers, etc..

      • Karolyn

Oh, Nadzieja, I am very “bright.” Why would you even take the time to write such rubbish. Your negativity amazes me. Tina has 3 homes in Europe; and it appears that she doesn’t have to work anymore and probably won’t for the rest of her life. She moved to Europe 30 years ago and is 72. There are 3 homes; and I don’t think she’s hurting for money.

Nadzieja, Karolyn is so “BRIGHT” in her childish and overweight STUPIDITY that NO ONE can beat her STUPIDITY on this site.

The WISE man King Solomon would say: The heart of fool Karolyn PROCLAIMS HER FOOLISHNESS. (Proverbs 12)

And more than 2300 years ago another WISE man, the world’s most influential Ancient Greek Philosopher Plato said:

“WISE men speak because THEY HAVE SOMETHING to say; FOOLS because they have to say something.”

Time after time Karolyn just proves the assertions of these two great men.

“The mouth of fools ALWAYS pours forth foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:2)

For some reason ,this site doesn’t allow to reply for a reply, so I had to reply to myself. Here is my reply to your reply about housing and a glass which is half full:

“First, you forgot that the situation in North Carolina, which, by the way, is Right To Work state is completely different than in California, which follows all the ‘recommendations’ of Obama administration and from where small businesses run away everywhere including North Carolina or oversea.
Second, increasing sales of luxury houses which CNNMoney describes as a big achievement, is actually a very bad sign of economy in America, because it means that instead of investing in new businesses and new jobs, investors put their money in real estate which doesn’t produce many jobs or new research and development.
I agree that looking to a glass as half full is better than as half empty. The problem is that currently, the glass looks pretty much upside down. “

Either you pay taxes to educate children OR you compromise national security by letting in foreigners that have been educated abroad but may not have America’s best interest at heart. People need to think this over carefully. The number of immigrants will dry up one day.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sure they will, and I will tell you why. When the hispanics take over, and if you look at their numbers, they are growing faster than any culture, they will protect their own interests and lock all others out. The Mexican borders are more secure than the US, at least in how they treat those who violate it. Once they take over, even though they now vote for the liberals, they wont poly-coddle to them about human rights of those who sneak in. They will imprison them or shoot them as they come in. No doubt about it. They will protect their own interests, something the American culture has given up to suck up to all the small interest groups. Pretty sad.

UWorlds1, the long line to America will never dry up, illegal or legal, even if you made the world into one Utopia that is planned. Right now you can buy the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter including something like baby wipes, diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes that have American companies names on them in some Godforsaken ratholes of Africa, M E, or South America. Making the whole world a consumer society will not create Freedom and Liberty that most Americans despise because they have it. What a shame how most Americans despise their heritage and are tearing down their foundation.

Oh, it is “much, much” more than “educate”. It’s a “baby sitting” program, a “jobs program”, a “nourishment” program, a “fund raising” program, an “indoctrination” program. It has now become a “progressive” self perpetuating cash machine. But, hey, I keep forgetting, it’s “all about the chillens”. Right…………..!

      • Chester

Warrior, not sure how you get a fundraiser in with all the “tax money gobblers” you listed, unless you were just slamming public education in general. Question, if it IS a baby sitting system, why do you think it might be needed? If there is a “Jobs” program, why would it be there if there is no need? As far as indoctrination programs, Mr. Root runs a damned fine one on his little “news” briefs. It appears that you share his views, so he is preaching to the choir when he speaks to you.

    • Capitalist at Birth

I don’t think public education has worked well for us. Do you? we spend more per pupil on education than any other nation in the world, yer where do we rank? Do you know? Way down the totem pole. I am self educated in spite of the public school system, which was much better in the 50′s and 60′s than it is today. Fortunately I had the advantage of 4 years of Private schools before entering the public school system. I has studied Algebra, French, Spanish, English, Tap, Ballet, Speech and a whole host of subjects by the time I entered 4th grade in a public school. Thank God I was able to read the Newspaper at the age of 3 1/2. Their attempt at indoctrination failed on me. Unfortunately if was successful of far too many of my fellow baby boomers.

Wayne. thanks for this recent (?) news of doing things outside the States for “tax purposes! Remember the” Rumble in the Jungle” and the” Thrilla in Manila”? When were they done ? Last week? Don’t think so?
Remember the bush tax cuts that were to create jobs in the last decade? Where did they go? Off shore rich folks accounts and corporate tax shelters? They sure as hell weren’t creating jobs when we were losing 2.6 million of them in 2008!
Hiding things from the government is an old game! Even Jesus had to shake a few Jews to get them to render unto Caesar!

    • Tigerous

      Yup. Bush’s fault. YAWWWN

    • Rich Armstrong

The tax cuts worked well in the early 2000s. The collapse in 2008 was a cumlitive effect from the changes made to the CRA in 98 – remember Bill saying that was the highlight of his 8 years – and the Graham, Leach Blilely Act of 1999. Those were the two time bombs that finally exploded ten years later. Just one quick question – everybody on the left is always talking about Bush allowing the recession to happen. Since that implies that it was obvious it was going to occur, why didn’t the Dems offer any bills, suggestions or become proactive in any form to stop it? Was it because Bush was that much smarter than anybody on the left and they couldn’t see it coming? Or that the changes to the CRA and the GLB bill were strongly Dem supported so they chose to let it happen? Or that letting the recession happen was a better political option for the left to take the WH so they said screw the country? I’ve asked this question of several left wing quasi thinkers and never get a straight answer.

Rich, have you forgotten that the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress for the first 6 years of the bush administration following the tax cuts??? The corrections and adjustments that should have been done were in the hands of Republicans not the Democrats! Right???

When they were allowing bush to fight two wars on our credit card would have been a good place to start with some adjustments and correction! Neither the bush tax cuts nor the wars were compulsive!

      • Capitalist at Birth

Ditto. Unfortunately, all of the Totalitarian Socialists, have their hands over their eyes and their ears. Now we need to convince them to put their hands over their mouths. What ya think?

      • Capitalist at Birth

nc, No one has forgotten anything. If you would care to debate what happened, I am ready and loaded with the facts. Something you seem oblivious to seeing or hearing. Do you know what the budget deficits were prior to fiscal years 2007 and 2008 as a total of the budget deficits from fiscal 2001 thru 2008? Look it up. The President elect in 2001 and the Congress inherited a recession. We can debate what caused that recession, that actually began during the 2nd quarter in 2000. The effects of that down turn were amplified by the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. You can argue that it wasn’t necessary to increase the deficit by fighting the war on terrorism, or how the war was handled, but can you really argue that it wasn’t necessary to respond to the deadliest attack on the continental U.S. in our history? But of course you are probably confused and your head spinning with this presentation of this paltry sum of facts. Aren’t you?

      • Alan

        nc,

The Republicans worked hard to stop the financial crises which they saw coming when they were in control from 2000-2006 but the Democrats filibustered the bills that would have prevented the fall. When the Democrats took control of Congress the fall came quicker in 2008 because the Democrats destroyed the foundation of the country which is housing. Prior to the Democrats taking power building, was so robust that builders, architects, draftsmen and others in the building industry couldn’t keep up with the demand. Most people don’t know this or are too naive to understand how the financial base of the country operates. This is one of the reasons why we have such an inept President in office with Obama.

The post by Rich Armstrong is quite accurate.

With the robust economy the USA had with the first six years of Bush, paying for the wars was possible if the Democrats wouldn’t have destroyed our housing industry. World War II cost the country more on a percentage basis than the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. WWII helped the USA get out of a recession but the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan looked like they put America into a recession but our recession was actually caused by the Democrats when they destroyed America’s housing industry which is the country’s foundation. To realize this look back at the robust housing market after WWII and the growth it caused it practically every other area.

      • Rich Armstrong

nc, The Republicans did have hearings about the financial implications of the housing market when they controlled the House. It was turned into a race and gay issue by Barney Frank and three black Congressmen. The hearing used to be on youtube…it still may be. The right never had a super majority that would allow them to rule without the consent of the left. That also brings up another story about all the things the left complain about – tax rates for the rich, money being sent to fund a war, etc. – they were only possible because some of the Democrats voted for them. That’s very different than the stimulus and Obamacare that were rammed down America’s throat in 2009.

      • moonbeam

        S.C.Murf says:

“That’s because they aren’t straight Rich they swing both ways”

Your statement rings of literal truth. Think John Travolta.

      • matforce

Rich, to assert that the Gramm, Leach Bliley Act was bi-partisan is to invite derision. The tally in the Senate was decisively a Republican Bill. Republicans’ yea votes = 53, Democrates yea votes = 1. Republican nay votes = 0, Democratic ney votes = 44.

The House is another matter. House Republicans yea = 208, Democrats yea = 152. Republican nay votes = 6, Democrats nay votes = 50.

Deregulation is always a Republican idea. Given the human imperfection factor (especially greed), the “smartest men in the room,” who thought the gravy train would absorb their irresponsibility and greed and continue on forever, unscathed by their malfeasence, (and that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt that they even cared to begin with); the Enron scandal, Long Term Capital scandal, Bernie Madoff scandal, Savings and Loan crisis, the Subprime Mortage Loan crisis that finally brought down our financial house were all perpetrated by those who took deregulation and the growing tide of pressure on those charged with the job of overseeing the scant regulations that were in place to look the other way during the financial free-for-all as a sign that they could do as they pleased with impunity. So they did. And without defined rules of conduct to bring indictments, how many of the perpetrators actually paid for their fiscal malfeasance?

Oh I am so sick and tired of being behind a “welfare” person who has the government paying for the food and housing but yet they rid a better car and live ina better house than my own most live in a single house section 8 so to speak.

      • Donna

I work with Section 8 people all the time (as a Realtor.) Often they are disabled or single mothers with no help from the fathers of the children. They are white and black (no Hispanics or Asians at this point.) They do get housing and a little bit for utilities. I assume they need food stamps, but not sure. They do not drive good cars, if they have a car at all. I usually have to pick them up to go look at housing because they don’t have a car. Most of them try to have at least a part-time job to help pay for their cost of living. If they have young children, they can’t afford to work full-time because there is no child care available without costing more than they could make with minimum wage jobs. Some of them made an effort to go to school to try to get some kind of degree, even if it’s just an Associate degree so they can get better jobs. There are very few who try to milk the system. They were victims of the men in their lives, or if disabled, their health care problems. They WANT to be OFF the system unless their health is the issue. They ALL want decent paying jobs so they can afford child care and better their lives. Their housing is usually lousy in a lousy part of town. I try to help them live in better areas where they can have some pride in their homes. So, don’t go knocking the poor who need help. If you ever find yourself in that position, you would be thankful we have a government that cares for their people, rather than a government who takes it all and gives nothing back like many countries around the world.

According to the Brunswick, GA Police Dept. report the woman’s purse was missing from her parked car. The PURSE was valued at $400.00, her WALLET was valued at $200.00 and there was $800.00 CASH in the purse … Also missing were the woman’s FOOD STAMP cards. The story ran as a crime brief in the Brunswick newspapers on April 3.
        http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=33641

I am wondering how many hard-working taxpayers in this country have a $400.00 purse, a $200.00 wallet and $800.00 cash in their wallet? How the woman, who is qualified for the Food Stamps can afford such pricy purse & wallet?

      • Donna

They didn’t tell you that the wallet was purchased at Good Will for $10 and the $800 in cash was from her monthly part time income to pay rent and feed her family.

      • http://personalliberty Alondra

Donna, we do NOT talk about who REALLY need help and support. We are talking about a blood-sucking flees, mosquitos, leech, ticks, vampire who chose to live off the others hard working people.

Those who work and support society, have to support those who ARE NOT WILLING to take care of themselves and theirs.

        The FACT:
In 1969 there were 2,878,000 people on food stamps in America. In 2000 there were 17,194,000 on the system (30 years increase 597%). Today there are approximately 45,000,000 people (12 years increase 267%). on food stamps at a cost of nearly $80 billion per year.

“If anyone is not willing to work, NEITHER SHOULD HE EAT. For we hear that SOME AMONG YOU WALK IN IDLENESS, NOT BUSY AT WORK, BUT BUSYBODIES. Now such persons we command and encourage in the LORD Jesus Christ to DO THEIR WORK QUIETLY and EARN THEIR OWN LIVING.” – Apostle Paul (2Thes.3:10-12)

      • Donna

The increase in food stamps today is a result of the economic crisis. Those are people in need. As to the difference 30 years ago, the population has also increased since then. As a matter of fact, 100 years ago there were 1.2+/- Billion people in the world, there are now 7 Billion. Eventually we won’t have enough resources on the planet for anyone (except the very rich.)

Well, ‘budget’, the problem in America is explained just below your post!
Donna thinks we are in great shape, Donna knows the government is going well. Donna just loves this administration and the giveaway mentality.
And the worst part – Donna gets one vote – no limit because of a logic-challenge or reasoning deficiency.

Many people will be “surprised” when the bubble pops – Donna will blame everyone else for not giving her a warning.

      • Donna

The bubble will definitely pop if the Republicans allow us to go over the fiscal cliff and/or refuse to raise the debt ceiling. It will be recession all over again, maybe depression. So you better hope they wake up and smell the coffee because the popped bubble will be on their heads.

      • Patriot

Clearly, you have no understanding of the economic disaster that we are currently propagating with bad ideas. I respect your voicing of your opinions here. But I am again reminded of the masses of people that support ideology over substance. We are approaching 17 TRILLION dollars in debt. The LAW of the LAND REQUIRES that a budget is presented and singed into law every year. We haven’t had one in 5 years. For the very first time in history our GDP is lower than our deficit. Just reported was the fact that our economy shrunk below 1%, and you want to blame someone – those vile Republicans – for this, and think that raising the debt ceiling is a good idea.
The devaluation of our dollar continues every single day. Do you understand the word ‘unsustainable’? Do you have any notion of basic economic theory? Probably not, but I am sure that you could grasp the idea that any other entity, business, coropration, or even KINGDOM in the world operating with these completely insane economic conditions would be called BANKRUPT in any other part of the world.
This isnt about evil Republicans holding back the brilliance of the well meaning Democrats. This is the result of BOTH parties destroying every bit of what it is that is required to sustain and grow this nation. It is far beyond time that people drop their silly emotionally based party affiliations and realize that all of them, every single one of them is responsible for the massive economic devastation that we are surely experiencing now, and will continue to get worse in the future. Fiat currency has NEVER in the history of the world been sustainable. And while you point your fingers at those horrible Republicans, those in ALL poisitions of power in this country are ensuring that our Republic never recovers with their politically based ideas that are designed to do no more than kick the current problem down the road a couple more years. And soon, our once great nation will look just like Greece.

      • Donna

Yes we have a high debt now, but now with the economy struggling, we don’t need to tackle the debt until we get people back to work and for the government to invest in getting people back to work. The debt can be dealt with when we are strong again. Now is not the time.

      • R. Fine

Before the last election there were a number of American celebs who said they would move up here to Canada if Obama was reelected. We found that notion kind of funny seeing as we enjoy universal socialized health care up her. No one ever has to worry for a second about being able to afford any medical procedure. I’m not sure if any of those yahoos ever moved here.

      • DD

I questioned myself who would really move to Canada with their National Health Care system. Wouldn’t they be dissapointed that they were in a Socialist society. They’d have to move back the the US where health care is catch as catch can. I have a good friend who lives and loves Canada, especially for their health care.

Now is precisely the time… years ago was precisely the time. We are where we are now because we keep putting off our obligations and not dealing with it.

Our economy is struggling because of our crushing debt.

We are week now, because of our crushing debt.

We have to stop the madness, the out of control spending, the apathy towards our debt problems, the taking of more and more of what we earn which is just killing our economy, FIRST.

To ignore this problem, is just willful ignorance and cowardice.

The debt is the problem. Not an afterthought.

It should be our #1 priority.

Charlie says: “Donna just loves this administration and the giveaway mentality.”

The “giveaway mentality” as per se is not bad. ALL charities are based on the VOLUNTARY “giveaway mentality”.

What is disgusting that the progressive/socialistic/collectivistic mentality is the “FORCEFUL TAKEAWAY” the hard earned money from the hard working people and give to the parasites of the society, WHO DOES NOT WISH TO WORK. This is the Libtards’ definition of the “FAIR SHARE” a.k.a. Libtardic Compassionate REDISTRIBUTION of the people “WEALTH”.

“Everyone must pay their fair share” – Redistribution by the Thug-in-Chief barack hussein obama a.k.a. Barry Soetoro a.k.a. barrack obama a.k.a. barrack dunham a.k.a. barry dunham a.k.a. barak MOUNIR Ubayd a.k.a. HARRISON J. BOUNEL

Again, this is not about the needys. This is about the parasites/freeloaders/sluggards, who learned how to play the system and the system not only DOES NOT CARE, but produces and supports “blood suckers”.

        Budget and Donna,
Let me tell you a little story.
20 years ago, I did some computer work for a Public Housing Authority. They had about 6,000 rental units and 99% of the residents were black, female and single head of household with an average of 2+ kids. Neat trick, kids but no man. Of course they had a man but if they admitted it, they wouldn’t qualify for the help. Black men are the reason the housing authorities exist!

        But here’s the best part.
HUD (Housing and Urban Development) had just issued a new set of criteria for rating the performance of the housing authorities. There were 12 of them and all of them were related to how well they were doing keeping the units occupied. For example, overall vacancy had to be less than 5% (or something like that), Newly vacant units had to be refurbished within 60 days, etc. HUD was so strict, they had to advertise for tenants to keep the units filled!

To me the criteria should be; How fast can the tenants get a job and move out. How can the authority help them get training so they can get a job.

In other words, HUD’s actions guarantee there will always be a need!!!!
Typical government, invent a need so they can provide a solution….

Liberalism is a Mental Disease, true. It is insanity to keep trying the same marxist ideas over and over again when they always fail!

  • rhcrest

But Wayne, shame on you for not wanting to pay it forward and pay your fair share to the freeloaders who want to relax all day at your expense. You should have been glad to put the welfare of strangers above that of your own family. Anyone who advocates that people take literally food out of the mouths of their own children and give it to strangers is truly sick in the head. I think at this point that the welfare crowd ought to be allowed to sink or swim and all welfare payments should be stopped. If they sink then it will decrease the surplus population a la Scrooge and crime will go way down and the rest of us can keep the money that WE WORKED FOR and life will be a whole lot better. If they swim then they can join the rest of civilized society instead of being a thief of other people’s money via the legalized theft of taxation by the gov;t.

    • Kinetic1

      rhcrest,
Is that the whole story? Are taxes collected simply to allow “lazy” people to get by without working? Yes, taxes are too high in some states, but how well are the “low tax” states really doing? Mississippi has an income tax rate of just 3% to 5%, but they are also number two on the list of states receiving more Federal money than they pay in. Farm subsidies, nutrition aid, anti-poverty aid and retirement programs, all Federally funded programs that help the state keep their own costs down. Alaska, Louisiana, W. Virginia, N. Dakota, Alabama, the list goes on and on. And who pays for these Federal programs? New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, California. Yes, there are some low tax states that pay more than they get back (Texas) but the balance is VERY uneven. So are we to assume that a disproportionate number of lazy people live in less populated and more rural red states?

      • alpha-lemming

You make a good argument………….. that the Government spends too much.

    • wizard of oz

One problem with them sinking…..they will begin stealing for real from anyone and everyone around them who still have something to steal. They have been conditioned to an entitlement mentality by decades of welfare and will not go away silently. This is a long-time socialist/progressive/collectivist plan to incite civil unrest followed by chaos and then martial law imposition. See: ‘Cloward-Piven’ for details.

      • Old Henry

Yeah Wizard, have you seen that video on the internet of that obese Obamaphone woman outside the Romney campaign rally? Perfect example.

    • Mark Dial

A kill zone is an old military tactic for long term ambush. An area is set aside in this case 25% of the world for poverty and dependence, confuse, demoralize. restrict any future means to escape, restrict transportation, restrict money movement, restrict information and rewrite history, to disarm. Taken down to the weakest point. On this scale you want a civil war based on an surprise unjust economic event of confiscation as a race war is to limited. The object is to bring out hidden weapons use up food and use up limited ammo, on it self and not the government. As with the King riots you wait a week when their is a need for medical, food and protection to “save the day”. The uneducated victims will taken to a public place to be “safe”. From their taken to FEMA camps where a person will be vaccinated with nano tech to blur the mind, Then raped, beaten, starved, used for occult practices for about 5 months. You are one paranoid psych case.

      • sam1966

Well said Mark. But alas! I see that mamamia hasn’t been following the news and the issues on this site. As Sylvester the Cat’s nephew would say when he (Sylvester) couldn’t catch a mouse, “For shame.:, just before he puts a paper bag over his head to hide his shame. This looks interesting:

What on earth are you talking about???? Are you paranoid?

      • Texas Ride

        Points to ponder Mamamia!

Why is the government buying enormous amounts of ammo, much more than at any other time ever?

Why does obamacare fund a Civilian Army, better than our military, with allegiance only to the President?

Why is the government trying to confiscate firearms of private citizens?

Why is the government raising taxes and constantly implementing additional ones?

Why are our freedoms being taken away?

        Why was the NDAA passed?

Why does the regime want to use drones against its citizens?

Why does the regime want unlimited power to arrest and/or put people on “kill lists.?”

Why are FEMA camps being made ready? (There is one about 20-miles from me).

Why are there thousands of “UN military vehicles and weapons” being moved outside major cities in the U.S.?

Why will thousands of UN soldiers be sent to the U.S.?

Why is our military being dismantled and defunded?

Mamamia, just start with these, there are many more questionable activities to be answered for by government. This regime is usurping nearly total power over the country and any wealth still left. Maybe you need not be so blind.

How correct you are. These social grabbers receive government doles and from those in the community they live. We open our churches and food banks to those truly in need and seek those ashamed to accept help. Others with Nikes, iphones, with 3 cars are refused-unless they want to donate, Fat chance.

        David:

You are spot on. Yesterday, 2/6/13, I happened to turn on the radio and heard Limbaugh talking about a police report that a woman recently filed regarding her purse that was stolen from the back seat of her car.
The prese was $400, her wallet was $200, she had $800 in cash, but the real issue was her FOOD STAMPS were also in her purse.

      • Karolyn

And you believe EVERYTHING Limbaugh has to say? He probably laughs every day at all the people who worshiip his words like they are gospel.

      • Texas Ride

Karolyn, I bet you can relate to this woman about the thought of losing her “food stamps!”

I second that motion! Here is what our Constitution is based on and how our government is to do things, no matter what the 5th column says.

      http://www.freedomoutpost.com/2013/02/what-is-the-foundation-of our-constitution/

Like I’ve told numerous 5th columners here, we are a Christian nation. If we get back to God, Jesus, and the ways of tithing, then we will surely recover and reattain our status in the world. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY! 하나님하고 나라를 위해서!

You need both love of country and faith in God to be a patriot.

The remaining residents of NY, Calif and ILL will be “taxed into poverty”. I live in ILL and this is “exactly” what is happening and about to get a whole lot worse (underfunded public pensions). Property taxes are now making home ownership unaffordable for most. Who would have imagined we have reached the point that property tax bills are higher than mortgage payments. This is not by “accident”, this IS by “design”. The “progressive’s” attempt to get the herd back in the pen (chicago). No thanks. I’ve had enough and experienced enough of “progressivism” and hopefully will be able to get out before the “fall”. When that time comes, no one will have to turn off the lights, they will go off all by themselves.

    • http://google oldMarine

Agreed, I left ILL more than a decade ago because of property taxes, Just before they quadrupled.

Semper Fi; oldMarine from another oldMarine. My daughter was stationed in Chicago with a major airline and couldn’t wait to get out, sold there home and moved where they now have three homes for the price of the one. She had to move to New Jersey and rented for a out rages rent on a Condo, she has told New Jersey and the airlines good bye and now lives better then ever. New York is a nazi state and people need to leave it in the hands of the nazi’s in charge and let them pound dirt. God Bless and Semper Fi, jarhead.

My brother in law, who lives in Illinois but works in Missouri, has a three bedroom two story with a basement on .4 an acre lot, paying over $ 5,000 a year in property taxes. Paying higher income taxes than he would if he lived in Missouri. Property taxes have risen slightly in Missouri, but I would take the $ 1,700 a year I pay for a 4 bedroom two story with a real walk out basement on and acre, on a lake with a tremendous view, over living in Illinois. My wife was born in Illinois in a Democrat family, but now votes for Conservative candidates and lives in a Conservative state. I suggest we all vote with our feet. I am planning to leave for Costa Rica or Chile when my Mother in law and my Father pass away.

      • moonbeam

You won’t be the only one, Cap. I know LOTS of people who are doing and have done the same. You can live like a king in Cost Rica for very little money. You can have a beautiful home, gardener, housekeeper, a veritable army working for you. I think the exchange rate is (last time I looked) was about every $1 of ours is worth $7 of their money. Don’t know what it is now, but you can live damn good there on retirement income. Here in the USA you’ll starve to death on retirement income while the government lives a lavish life courtesy of the swindled taxpayer.

Ditto Warrior from another resident in the Land of Stincoln!

However, not living in Chi Ka Go I am not quite as hard-pressed as there is a “somewhat” lower cost of living out here inna sticks. However, our property values continue to decline and the property TAXES continue to climb. Obama Math??

Well said Warrior. Sook Young and I live in Indiana and our taxes aren’t too bad. In fact, they are lower than the states around us. This is one of the major reasons, along with being a right to work state, for us having lower unemployment than the states that surround us. Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio are all “BLUE STATES”, while Indiana is a “RED STATE.” Is this just a coincidence? I don’t think so. If your state is controled by the 5th column (libturds, progturds, secularists, ect.), they tend to be more broke and have much higher taxes. Why is this when they say that they are the party of the people? Here is s great video showing what we need to do as a country to turn things around. This man is no lawyer, no politician, but he is a doctor (MD type). He makes a lot of sense. But alas! I expect to be given grief and personal attacks from the 5th column on it.

      http://www.conservativevideos.com/2013/02/doctor-slams-political-correctness-in-front-of-obama-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast/

Though he talks about being PC and healthcare also, it is a very good video. Though he mentions about how our Christian founding fathers believed and relied on God, just listen to what he says about the Battle of Fort McHenry. Accurate historical facts that cannot be denied. I dare any 5th columner to prove this man wrong. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY! 하나님하고 나라를 위해서!

You need both love of country and faith in God to be a patriot. The man in the video is a patriot, but the 5th columners are not.

Sam – Take a look at the red state of SC! A right-to-work state with low taxes but rampant poverty. No jobs, no industry. Why would industry want to move here? The education level is low and there is no infrastructure. The republicans have a chokefield on SC and are choking the life out of it.

    • woodbutcher

If these people want to leave, fine ! What we should do then is charge a tariff on these people if they wanna do business in America ! Many of these people would come running back ! We’re still the biggest Market in the world, as long as the rich don’t suck the rest of the life out of the Middle Class !

These traitors want to leave because of a 39% tax rate, when the Patriot wealthy that built our Country, had a top tax rate of 73% from 1950 to 80 !!! We have enough rich leech’s in our Country ! It will give the rest of us a better chance, to fulfill our dream’s ! Or good revenue from the tariff, if those that left want to do business here !!!!!!!

      • Bob666

        Yo Woodbutcher,
Ever hear of the Smoot Hartley Act of 1931?

      • Tony

T he tax rate may have been that high but very few, if any, ever paid any where that amount. There were a lot more tax deductions back then.

      • MLR

        Tony,
The very highest tax rate was 91% and you are right very few if anyone paid it, not because of deductions, but they reinvested their money into American Business’s, rather than pay that rate. That’s why the standard of living was so much better in the 1950′s and 60′s. working class people were paid more equitably. The CEO didn’t make several million, or sometimes tens or even hundreds of millions, like many do nowadays. One person working could support his family. Then they lowered business taxes, raised working class income taxes. The American companies took their tax breaks, became Multi/National, started sending manufacturing jobs overseas. lower wages, more money in their pockets.
The global economy took over. Propaganda about how American made was inferior to foreign made. Funny thing in most countries American made is considered the best. People started buying the foreign made crap to save a dollar, because their wages were getting lower all the time. If they still had a job, then came more and more people on the dreaded welfare. Or more and more buying on credit, The income gap getting larger and larger. Now to make things even worse, your wonderful conservative Supreme Court okays the so called Citizens United sham so Big Business can give unlimited funds to the Politicians to get even more from the Government. And these people think it’s a sin because people are getting food stamps. I think maybe the very rich are the ones that are doing the sins. I have a good job, pay my taxes, been on unemployment for maybe 4 months in 40 years of working. Just to let you know I am not a welfare bum, like so many will say, I am also pro business, but also for the working class guy like myself. When the Greed at the very top kicked in things in this country started to go to hell.

      • Bob666

        Yo MLR,
        very well put!

      • DD

        Well said MLR.

    • Wellarmed

Agreed Warrior. One of the greatest failings of our nation was allowing local governments to institute a property tax. Of all the different forms of taxation I find property taxes to be the most offensive, as it makes it so a person never really owns their property up to the day they die.

If one looks at what is happening in Greece in this regard, it is creating the justification for the government to steal ones property or render it useless. They will have the utilities turned off for failure to pay the property taxes.

Illinois is in a terrible position with the unfunded liabilities in regards to their pension obligations. I found it amazing that all of my liberal friends frothing at the mouth when Governor Walker of Wisconsin failed to let his state fall into insolvency. I do feel he did the right thing balancing his states budget at all costs, but I do see a failure on his and the legislatures part in that cuts should have begun first in their compensation before they touched anyone else.

    • Dave67

Here is a thought Warrior, Let CA, NY, IL NJ keep more of their money by having states like AK, MS, AL, KY, SC etc pay their own way instead of leeching of the giver states like CA, NY, IL, and NJ.

Radical concept I know to have conservative states pay for their own pork… But its an idea who’s time have come.

      • Old Henry

Not radical at all Dave67. It is an excellent idea. We can ALL keep OUR money.

        Maybe you are catchin on.
