Jamie Foxx, Gun Hypocrite

January 25, 2013 by

Jamie Foxx, Gun Hypocrite
SPECIAL
Jamie Foxx plays former slave Django in "Django Unchained."

Jamie Foxx is one of a bevy of Hollywood celebrities who appear in a new video urging Washington to come up with a plan to end gun violence. Chris Rock, Amy Poehler, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and Will Ferrell join Foxx in pleading: “For the children of Sandy Hook, we demand a plan.”

But of course, like liberals everywhere, they’re talking about more controls over you and me — not what they do in their own lives. Or even more significantly, the on-screen violence that pays many of them so well. A majority of the films that received a Best Picture nomination this year are replete with bloodshed. Take gun violence out of “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Django Unchained,” “Argo” and “Lincoln” and there wouldn’t be much a movie left. Hey, murder and mayhem sell.

The ultra-violent flick “Django Unchained” has already raked in more than $129 million at the box office. Foxx plays a revenge-seeking ex-slave.

While hosting “Saturday Night Live” last month, Foxx bragged about all the bloodshed in the Quentin Tarantino-directed movie.

“I kill all the white people in the movie,” he boasted. “How great is that?”

That’s actually a bit of an exaggeration. Django doesn’t kill all the white people — just a whole bunch of them.

And, of course, all of the violence in “Django Unchained” and others like it is portrayed with as much realism as possible, which these days means very realistically indeed.

But movies are just one source of the mindless violence that permeates our society these days. Cable television has always been known for pushing the borders of sex and violence. Now, broadcast TV is following suit. “The Following,” a new series on Fox Television, literally wallows in blood as star Kevin Bacon tries to stop a serial killer and his cult of followers.

I’ve seen estimates that by the time the average teenage male reaches high school, he has witnessed more than 10,000 killings on TV and in the movies. If he’s a fan of ultra-violent video games — as was the case for Adam Lanza, the deranged shooter in Newtown, Conn. — that number is no doubt considerably higher.

Michael Medved pointed out in his syndicated column: “The fact that violent entertainment doesn’t influence everybody doesn’t mean that it fails to influence anybody. The habits of prolific mass murderers — including the insane shooters at Columbine,Aurora and, apparently, Newtown — reveal a taste for brutal diversion.”

Yet don’t anyone dare suggest there could be some sort of relationship with a fascination for on-screen violence and the fantasies of a mentally unstable young man. The Entertainment Merchants Association, which represents video game makers and other parts of the home entertainment industry, sent an open letter to Vice President Joe Biden warning him against even investigating any possible relationship between movies, video games and real-life violence.

And former Senator Chris Dodd, who is now the head of the Motion Picture Association of America, has been quoted as saying: “What we don’t want to get involved with is content regulation. We’re vehemently opposed to that.”

Of course they are. And, as a matter of fact, so am I. The only thing worse than the present situation would be to give some committee in Washington the power to dictate what we are allowed to see. I’d hate to see what would happen to Personal Liberty Digest™ if that were ever allowed to occur.

It should come as no surprise that there is nothing in President Barack Obama’s latest gun control proposals that will do anything to change the culture of violence that pervades Hollywood today.

Interestingly enough, even with all of the publicity and the emotional outpouring that followed the terrible tragedy in Newtown, most Americans do not believe that more gun control is the answer. In a new Gallup survey, when asked to identify “the most important problem” facing the country, responders rated “gun control” No. 6.

What were the five issues that were of much more concern to a majority of Americans? You won’t be surprised to learn that the economy was in first place, followed by the Federal budget deficit, dissatisfaction with government, unemployment and lack of money.

A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll found similar results. “Enacting stricter gun-control laws” ranked fourth on a list of priorities that the public wants Washington to address. No surprise what was No. 1: It was the economy again. “Reducing federal spending” came in second. No. 3 was “restructuring the federal tax system.”

But none of this matters to the zealots in the White House and their liberal allies. Remember what Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff, said three years ago: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. … the opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.”

That is precisely why we are seeing such an aggressive push on gun control today by the Obama Administration and their friends. Remember: When promoters talk about additional gun control measures, what they’re really talking about are more measures to control you and other law-abiding Americans. Virtually none of the 23 executive orders promulgated by Obama will have any effect on deranged people who obtain weapons and then attack innocents in schools, theaters and other “gun-free” places.

That said, I’m not too worried about horribly restrictive new gun control measures being passed by Congress. In fact, it won’t surprise me if one of our best allies on this issue turns out to be Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Here’s why:

There are 34 seats in the U.S. Senate that will be decided in 2014. Of those, 14 are held by Republicans, 20 by Democrats. But get this: Many of the latter seats are in bright red States. In fact, Obama lost seven of those 20 States in November’s election.

That’s why Ted Cruz, the newly elected Senator from Texas, made this interesting observation: “There have got to be some Democrats who are up for reelection in 2014 who are very, very nervous right now that President Obama is picking this fight. The citizens of their states are not interested in the federal government banning gun ownership for law-abiding citizens.”

Yes, I’m sure we’ll see a slew of new gun-control legislation being submitted in the new Congress. Most of it will have three things in common:

  • One, it will be ineffective.
  • Two, it will be unConstitutional.
  • And three, I’m happy to say, it won’t get approved.

Yes, this is one battle we can win — despite all of the hype, hoopla and emotional rhetoric the left will use against us. Of course, this doesn’t mean we should relax one iota. Eternal vigilance is still the price of liberty.

So until next time, keep some powder dry… and your Congressmen on notice.

What difference does it make what people who earn their living to be somebody else think? Should I put my bible on the shelf and pay homage to actors opinions? We’re all Americans and everyone of our opinions are of equal value. It was said: “I am smarter than no man in that I can learn from all of them”. Sure I see the wheels of propaganda are churning to twist our minds so that we will programmed into think the way DC wants us to think. The Globe, National Inquirer, MSN front page, more that I can think of, are trying to put blinders on us to make us like Pavlov’s dogs. Look up people, not around at all the dainties their throwing our way. Personally, I wouldn’t give an actors opinion anymore value than I would give any of the posters here. Most of these people at least research their thoughts before they post. Do people pretending to be someboby else do that? Turn the page. That’s all their comments are worth.

Here is something that contributes to the problem of the crazies out there. When your own,not Controlled ,Agencies(who we did not vote for) allow corporations to poison the children and adults to be sick in not only heath but mentally. I Write of the FDA. The FDA and it’s minions allow poison drugs that murder and not cure, allow thousands of toxins in the food supply, yet no news media or your elected official ever brings this to light. Why? To give you an Idea here is a quote from one their own:”THE THING THAT BUGS ME IS THAT PEOP0LE THINK THE FDA IS PROTECTING THEM. IT ISN’T. THE FDA IS PROTECTING THE PROFITS OF THE CORPORATIONS THAT PAY US AND THE POLITICIANS!”, Herbert Ley M.D. Former FDA Commissioner. So, your can see that the unelected rule us and your politician has sold us out just for the their 30 Pieces of Blood Stained Silver. So, fools out there eat you Staff Of Life Bread filled with items like AZODICARBONAMIDE, High Fructose corn Syrup (Diabetes anyone),Ammonium Sulfate, Mono & Triglycerides, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate,Tartrazine(a coal tar waste) all linked to behavior disorders & Allergies in children. The list goes on and on. When I write or bring to attention of my Corrupt Congressman or Senators, all I get back is propaganda. Why? They are afraid that it will reduce the amount of Blood Stained Silver that they receive. Now we get into the Pharmaceutical Industry, which now leads all other industries in FRAUD against the Federal Government and of course the murder of the Citizens. The FDA is responsible for 140,000 heart attacks and over 60,000 deaths of Americans and yet Congress and our New Messiah of a, Snake Oils Salesman does nothing except increase the powers of the FDA. The FDA now has it own Gestapo Swat Teams & Kangaroo Court System which has already proven to use Terror Tactic Against Family and small Children with a big gun pointed at their heads. I Know that this will go unheeded as our Corrupt News Media is more into Soap Opera type of coverage as who did who. So, Comrades eat your poison foods and take your poison drugs, Bend over with heads low and back side up to get shafted again while your Child is being poison in mind and body. Chef Robert here in what what the land of enchantment.

Don’t feel left out in the cold and as though nobody is listening because you are not alone. I have been saying the same things for years and it always falls on deaf ears. Food additives are the worst crime in this country because you don’t have much of a choice but to eat them if you are someone that is very busy and can’t fix everything from scratch. I raised 5 children and 2 grand children that all had and still have reactions to food additives. These additives are called excito toxins for a reason and they work on the brain. It takes a minimum of three days to begin to get them out of the system and sometimes it takes a month or better. Once you get them out then some loving teacher will give her students a treat of some dye spiked juicy drink or a cookie or candy or even a cute little tatoo to put on their arm ! Now you have to go through the whole thing all over again. These things are causing a lot of kids to have ADHD and instead of eliminating the cause from the food they will pump the kid full of drugs. Yes the drugs work at first but then the kids don’t like the way they feel on them so they refuse to take them and you are right back to the same ole same ole ! Same thing with flu shots and what ever you can think of to stick in the newborns butt or leg. Don’t let your kids ingest mercury but let the medical industry pump it into them with their vaccines that are preserved with mercury. Do you have a choice or are you told this is what you have to do or you can’t put your kid in school. We are being exploited from every direction and it is time to stop before we become robots . !

“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future”.
    Adolf Hitler – 1935

    • Bill

The above quote sounds a lot like the argument of our progressive posters.

      • Jeff

Except that, like most of the crap you guys believe, the quote is phony. As Casey Stengel used to say, “You could look it up.”

      • Nadzieja Batki

jeff, why don’t you look it up instead of being just a Leftist jackass.

      • eddie47d

What Bill expanding on the “truth”?

  • http://www.facebook.com/april.pendarvis April Ron Pendarvis

One thing all these shooters have in common they are or are raised by democrats
The problem in our country is people do not teach their children the value of life …they dont spend time with them they rather put them in front of a tv or video game and not be bothered …as far as you saying tv has nothing to do with influencing people ? Well then why do companys pay millions of dollars to advertise during the Superbowl ?? We need to wake up before our America is gone ..

    • eddie47d

Now aren’t we the narrow minded one April! The attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan was done by the Republican son of a prominent Republican family. Lt. Calley is a Republican who went berserk and killed 542 women and children. I know its always different when a Republican does it and we musant step out of our comfort zone of bashing Democrats now can we! To make you feel better though I will agree that the TV should be turned off more often and video games monitored.

      • Gary L

I somewhat agree with you. However, I believe there should be a whole lot more bashing of democrats AND republicans whenever they deserve it. Whether it is for what they have done or what they have failed to do. Bash ‘em when they deserve it.

  • Johnny D

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Keep us free from tyrants now and always.

  • Willy

Ban blacks since they are involved in 90% of the shootings. This is NOT racist, it is fact.

    • Robert Smith

Those perpetrating mass shootings weren’t black.

      Rob

    • Hedgehog

Don’t blame all blacks for the excesses of the few. Most blacks, Asians, Hispanics and other visible minorities are peaceful, law abiding people. Ban Obama, Holder, Biden and Feinstein, they are the problem, trying to masquerade as the solution.

    • http://www.facebook.com/auzout5 J Augustin Auzout

What is your source of your statistic? 90% of Blacks….!!!! that is how racism gets into the picture with false information

  • http://rockdog1113dothushmaildotcom.wordpress.com rocquedog

Just refuse to watch any of this POS’s movies. Boycott the suck up wannabe Obama schlong hanger’s movies!

  • Johnny

I hate to say this, but even gun owners agree there should be sensible gun control laws. People dont believe that individual citizens should be owning military style weapons. I was in the army, but prior to that I never owned a gun and still don’t to this day. I dont see why someone who owns a gun should be paranoid that the government is coming to take them away because they dont want you owning an assault weapon or being able to use a 30 round or 100 round drum that can cut down other people as fast as you can pull the trigger. And I dont understand how you can defend a weapon like that. If you are in vietnam and are surrounded by charlie, I can see it, if someone is breaking into your home, you dont need 30 rounds to protect yourself and if you do, then you need to learn to shoot and shouldnt be owning a gun anyways because of all the innocents you hit while you missed your target.

    • Charlie

      Johnny,,,
You have been duped ,deceived and deluded by the Satanic powers that be…..
Meanwhile… Praise King Jesus for Salvation and Healing… Acts 2:38 is salvation…

      Charlie Freedom

    • Bill

      Johnny,
You are just making up stuff again. Majority of gun owners agree that we should have more classes in public schools about gun safety, marksmanship and how to be a responsible gun owner, not more gun control.

That is just a made up point to try and sell your gun confiscation

      Good try but no cigar

    • eddie47d

Right on Johnny and yes most gun owners approve of sensible control of weapons.

    • alpha-lemming

If the citizenry are reduced to owning essentially nothing more than revolvers in terms of capacity….. take a guess as to what group will be exempt from those laws and have access to all the 30-100 round drums they can carry. Maybe Chairman ObaMaos’ “Civilian Army”….???

    • Adolf Schmidt

If the ban on assault rifles in 1994 to 2004 did nothing to reduce any kind of gun violence, why try to impose a law that proved to be ineffective? The statistics are there for anyone that is willing to read them! Make laws that have affect! Made me think of the follow prayer. Since the separation of church and state this country has been in a downward spiral, so I don’t expect anyone in government to know it , let alone follow it.
      The Serenity Prayer

      God grant me the serenity
      to accept the things I cannot change;
      courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
      Living one day at a time;
      Enjoying one moment at a time;
      Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
      as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
      if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
      and supremely happy with Him
      Forever in the next.
      Amen.

      –Reinhold Niebuhr

    • Nadzieja Batki

What the bloody hell are sensible gun control laws and who is the anointed one who determines what is sensible? Stop rationalizing like a goop.

      • eddie47d

That’s beyond your mental comprehension Nadzieja.

  • Charles of Waveland,MS.

Take away all guns from all liberals.

    • eddie47d

Take away all guns and torches from Conservatives. Sounds about as rational as your statement!

    • Hedgehog

Wrong approach Charles. Make all Liberals own and carry guns openly!

      • Robert Smith

Thanks but I’ll carry mine concealed.

        Rob

      • Bill

So, We now see that Robert Smith admits he is a liberal

      • eddie47d

Bill; He has admitted that long ago and he also carries a gun which he had mentioned months ago.

      • Bill

        Eddie,
That is BS that Robert carries a gun. The people that do, usually don’t talk about it. It is real easy for this marxist to portray himself as a gun owner on this internet posting. He is just another marxist propagandist (Kind of like you Eddie) playing cowboy on the net.

      • Karolyn

So you are saying, Bill, that no liberals own guns?

      • Robert Smith

From Bill: “The people that do, usually don’t talk about it.”

Usually I don’t Bill. However, nobody from around here is going to come to my door. MOF, I doubt anyone ever will to get my gun. I obey the rules and keep it quiet in my personal life. There is no reason for anyone to come after me.

BTW, I was an NRA instructor for many years. I quit (no noise, I simply didn’t renew along with half a dozen other folks I know) years before Bush (a life member) quit over that “jack boot” thing out of what had become and still is an extremist NRA.

I wonder about some of the nut cases around here. Are they really forwarding the cause for personal firearms with all their trigger happy bravado? Personally I don’t think so but if they give folks reason to fear them MY rights are in jeopardy also. I just can’t bring myself to support a nut case who apparently is willing to brag what he’s gonna do if the police show up to take his gun.

BTW, do you lock yours up when it isn’t on your person?

That was the point I was making. It’s a habit I don’t think about. It’s a part of my daily way like brushing my teeth or the dog (different brush BTW).

        Rob

      • eddie47d

BILL the fascist propagandist and liar … how does it feel to strike out twice?

      • Bill

        Robert Smith
Your BS story is really hard to swallow. You were an NRA instructor and you have a conceal carry. And because of that you can speak holier than thou and tell us why we need more gun control.

COME ON, GIVE ME A BREAK. I am not ready to buy that bridge

  • Jim B

The second amendment was created not so we can own a gun to hunt and feed our families, it was created to protect us from government tyranny, ours or anyone else’s. We need no more evidence, the once land of the free has been expunged from our history (in less than a few decades) and we will suffer dearly for that grave misstep. We have trusting a government to do what is right for its citizens and the nation at large. The United States government plutocracy has created a bureaucracy beyond anything imaginable just a few short years ago. Our government, designed for the people, by the people is corrupted, an inept criminal organization whose primary function is to usurp the earnings and wealth from the citizens of this once great nation. Our government is now a lawless organization whose leader is dead set on destroying its liberties, and the last strings of freedom we at one time cherished. More ruthless than any known mafia or terrorist organization, more corrupt than any Ponzi schemer could have ever devise, and the largest extortionist organization ever to exist, or have been imagined in current times. The United States decent will be the fastest in all historical times. This is the state we now live in, this from a country that had no equal just a few short years ago, whose liberties and freedoms where the envy of all the world. And now, we rank 17th in the world’s freest nations. And even though they have stolen from its people hundreds of Trillions of dollars in our short history, they still have managed to amassed a debt of nearly 17 Trillion in debt, that’s over 50,000 dollars for every man, women and child (perhaps some unborn as well) in this country. But the credit card has run out, they, for more than the hundredth time, need another infusion of money that no one has. Therefore, yet another fraud is perpetrated on the American populous once again. They will counterfeit (create money from nothing), in order to pay for the socialist bureaucracy which they have created for themselves, of which no citizen can benefit from.

This is a desperate time for our government, to keep what they stole makes them very dangerous. If our service men and women, our police forces, and judicial system join with their attempts to destroy all constitutionality in this country, all of liberty and freedom will be gone forever.

Jim, THEY(?) ARE COMING!! They(?) are probably just down the street! Close you shutters, load the old AK, turn off the lights and go sit in a dark corner and WAIT! and WAIT! and WAIT, and WAIT!
SOMEONE (?) FROM THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN COMING TO TAKE SOMEONES “GUNS AND THINGS” EVERY SINCE THE RATIFICATION OF THE CONSTITUTION! MOST OF THAT WAS CURED WITH MEDICATION NOT A WELL REGULATED MILITIA!

      • Jim B

NC, liberate yourself from the evil that keeps you in serfdom, that place holds no future for you or anyone else. Your belief in “the government” to care for you is misguided and imagined, they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are merely a milk cow to them. If you stay in serfdom to long you will become a zombie, no good will come to you after that.

      • Adolf Schmidt

nc, Jim won’t have to hide as long as 2nd amendment right is intact! Only those that are willing to give up their rights and trust they will be protected from all evil by their government should fear!

Chip, you listed things you believe causes violence to our citizens. You left out one! The Bible! Too much Bible readin’, certainly not too much video or movies, got those good citizens of Salem killed> Too much Bible readin” and praying to the burning cross lead to the bombing of churches by the KKK, Maybe even some of the more recent acts were driven by religion instead of movies! Who knows the real truth when the shooter takes himself out in the end? There is all kind of violence but gun violence seems to do the best job! Are we too dumb to fix it?? or just too stubborn??

That path is easily traceable NC and exactly like you said. The bombing of those churches were done by religious zealots who said God commanded them to do so. Now we have Christian zealots who say its okay to burn down Mosques because our God approves of it. Follow the trail of hate and you will find the instigators of violence. They give Hollywood the “ammunition” and story lines that is shown in the movies.

  • Adolf Schmidt

All of our freedoms are under attack! Several of my posts on another blog were removed yesterday when I questioned a woman about what other amendments she would allow the government to whittle away at, or abolish all together! I mentioned that a lot of Americans have die in wars to protect the rights she enjoys today, and she is willing to allow these freedoms to be discarded like trash! Senseless gun violence is throwing away freedoms that many fought and died for!

  • Don’t feed their ego

Amazing how those poor apprentices (aka “famous stars” or “celebrities”. Yeah, on their minds) will do anything to be under the spot light.
More amazing is how the population at large give them any attention.

  • http://Personellibertyalert Paul

Very good article, the facts may scare the liberals some. But it appears this is another gun control law that does not do the right thing, and that’s armed guards in schools . Money is no object when it comes to safety. Right off the bat, I would stop arming the terrorist in Egypt with 100 tanks and 20 F-16 fighter jets. Problem solved.

    • Warrior

Yes, we “sell” egyptian’s all this “fine” weaponry so they can “defend” themselves. Ooh, and the “automatic” kind too! BTW, who “rules” that country now? They sure don’t look like they have “peaceful” intentions to me. Me thinks some “innocent” people are going to pay senselessly with……………their lives.

      • Bill

        Hi Warrior,
You always seem to cut through the BS and see the true story. Polititians have their own agendas, answer to no one, use force to get their way and then sell their stories through their lap dogs, the press.

The “Arab Spring” is such a BS story sold to the dumb progressives to mask murder and mayham.

      • mark

You are absolutely right on that count, Warrior. Numerous U.S. presidents and politcial leaders of both parties throughout the last 70 years have always claimed that America’s goal is to promote peace in the world. In reality, the United States is the world’s leading merchant of death. We sell more lethal weaponry and horrific mass-killing armaments than any other nation on earth. For a while during the Cold War, the Soviets were neck-and-neck with us but with their collapse, we have far superseded them.

This is another U.S. hypocrisy that both parties embrace, which far exceeds the hypocrisy of Jamie Foxx and Hollywood, as this literally leads to the deaths of hundreds of thousands and even millioins of people of color overseas. But hey, the profits are great for Wall Street and the arms dealers! And we all know that capitalism always comes first in America compared to concern for humanity. We are such a Christian nation, after all. As Jesus said over and over again in all the Gospels: ” Kill ‘em all! kill all your enemies!” Anyway, that’s the Gospel that the Pentagon and the U.S. arms dealers teach..

      • eddie47d

Bill; The USA also had an “Arab Spring” in 1776 in overthrowing their masters. In Egypt we supported Mubarak with $4 billion every year which was used to pad his coffers and to suppress his people. It was bound to explode and it should have happened much sooner. Not all Revolutions turn out the same but it is still theirs to own.

    • eddie47d

Paul: That method is what got us in trouble in the Middle East in the first place and began the cycle of revenge. Which was selling them arms to kill themselves which increased the violence. Then they struck back at the makers of those weapons (the US). Reagan and others armed Iraq and Egypt (Mubarak) so why lay it out as a Liberal problem,”the facts may scare Liberals”.It was Conservatives lawmakers who got the ball rolling.

  • G

Hollywood cries fowl if you mess with the 1st Amendment. So the government leaves that alone. Even if video games should pipe down on the violence. The best way to stop all the violent movies, shows & video games is to NOT watch them nor buy them! Simple product & demand method. It’s a Shame we don’t have an amendment to protect our right to bear arms! Hmmmm?? Then, the government would have to leave that alone…..

  • mark

Thomas Jefferson: Freedom Hypocrite. The guy owned over 200 slaves and apparently even had sexual relations with some of them. This hypocrisy was far worse than Jamie Foxx’s making some violent movies and extended to virtually all of the Founding Fathers, including Washington, Madison, Monroe, Franklin, etc. As British Dr. Samuel Johnson noted during the Revolution: “How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty from the drivers of slaves?”

    • JAS

At that point in history, slavery was a part of the culture. Of course it was wrong, but it doesn’t the greatness of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
And I will take the flaws of the man who participated in the freedom of America over the blowhards of Hollywood who contribute nothing except millions of dollars to their own pockets.

JAS;Some Hollywood movies are beyond creepy and downright disgusting. Yet Mark makes an excellent point about our Founding Fathers and Southern Aristocrats who lived well and made tons of money off of the despicable behavior in controlling other men’s lives.

      • http://yahoo Larry

Since the founders of our country owned slaves, which was common all over the world at the time, we should throw out our constitution and do whatever the leftists want now to change this country. Apparently these people think the american citizen is a fool.

    • momo

without Jefferson and the rest of the founders we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

      • Ted Crawford

Mark is aware of that, he just wants everyone to know that like a good Comrade he has read his Alinsky!

    • Bill

      Mark,
Spoken like a true socialist about Thomas Jefferson. John F Kennedy once said that if he brought the smartest minds in the world together, they would not hold a candle to Thomas Jefferson.

So what does your brainwashed mind have to say about JFK? Or was he too right wing for you? Maybe it was his lowering taxes to creat the economic boom of the 1960′s. But that is totally against what your handlers have taught you

      • mark

No, Bill, I’m just pointing out that Jamie Foxx doesn’t have a monopoloy on hypocrisy. Our Founding Fathers were world champions when it came to that sin.

      • Bill

        Mark
Spoken like a true Marxist. We should change your handle to Marx

      • mark

What does criticizing the Founders have to do with socialism and Marxism? The entire British capitalist upper class criticized the U.S. Founding Fathers repeatedly and in much harsher terms than I. Did this make the large land and trade magnates socialists? Once again you are displaying zero logic, Bill.

      • momo

mark says:”The entire British capitalist upper class criticized the U.S. Founding Fathers repeatedly and in much harsher terms than I.”

Well I guess the Brits were hypocritical also, slavery wasn’t outlawwed in Britain and the empire until 1833. Meanwhile, while they were busy criticizing the founders, they were shipping slaves to the West Indies and Jaimaca to run their sugar plantations.

      • eddie47d

That still puts them 32 years ahead of us.

    • Nadzieja Batki

Many blessings on the Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison, etc.. and the rest of the Founding Fathers who you call hypocrites.

      • mark

No, I agree, they were great men – but they were also hypocrites. And Jefferson acknowledged as much in his own later writings and in his essays on the immorality of slavery. There was a strong and well-known Enlightenment critique of slavery that the Founding Fathers were aware of. They were sufficiently ashamed of slavery that they referred to it, and regulated it but refused to name it explicitly in the Constitution. On every other topic they were quite explicit.

  • JAS

Once again, the court jesters believe we give two sh*ts about their opinion. When there is a direct correlation proving these atrocities are being committed by a majority of sane, law abiding gun owners, then I might listen to their hysteria.
Until then, shut up and entertain me fool. Better yet, just shut up.

“It is Hitlerian” ? Are you aware that under Hitler’s rule the gun laws inacted after WW1 were ignored and the only ones not allowed to have guns were the Jews? The paranoid propaganda being proliferated by the NRA is intended to strike fear into everyone. Profitable gun sales and manufacturing interests are funding the NRA. Hollywood stars don’t stand to profit from gun controls!

      • Ted Crawford

        Nice try, but WRONG Ken!
“Germans who wish to use firearms should join the ‘SS’ or ‘SA’. Ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State ” JHeinrich Himmler
” I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdog is a sinequa non for the overthrow of any Soverienty. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintainance of Law and Order! ” Adolf Hitler

      • eddie47d

Richard Nixon/Agnew used the words Law and Order quite often. Then they mostly attacked free speech and the right to assemble and he wanted to put a stop to it. If you didn’t agree with him you were the enemy so Conservatives are willing to control the citizens also in case any of you want to make this an issue.

      • Nadzieja Batki

Your reading of history is rather limited KenPoland. The German population was disarmed by Hitler because he didn’t trust the possibility that the population “may” resist him. The majority didn’t resist him and then the majority bullied the population into submission. Losing jobs, school position, professorships, dismissing doctors from hospitals, factory work, etc., made the nwilling Germans hop in line.
Don’t think that this will not happen in America, it may already be happening as the Leftists take over the colleges, hospitals, factories, stores, farms, etc., and the population will be bullied into submission.

      • Jeff

Some of that already happened here in the 1950s. It was called McCarthyism.

      • eddie47d

Jeff; Slam dunk but they will never admit anything!

    • eddie47d

JAS;I have seen those pictures several times and they are just as touching today as they were several months ago. Honor love and commitment are important and they prove it. Yet what does that have to do with todays article and violence in movies? You want to speak your mind and censor others at the same time.

    • Karolyn

JAS – But there are those who WILL listen to popular actors, especially those among the younger crowd who just might be influenced to not resort to violence no matter what the actor portrays on the screen. It is, after all, fiction and acting.

  • http://www.cindynel.co.za peter

Do you really believe that it won’t be approved? Do you really think that that would make any difference to the King? He will always decide what is right and what is wrong and the citizens of the USA had better believe it. Worst of all, imagine another liar like Clinton being the Prez in 2016 with Billy Boy, her mentor and side kick in crime, right there beside her in the Whitehouse. It will make West Wing look like a real comedy.Someone sure needs to help the USA. Gone to the dogs completely. No self respect left any more. BTW is Feinstein planning on confiscating the guns of the hoods who supposedly protect the Prez?
Are they the same hoods who will be hunting me down now? Actually, I do not have and never owned a gun, so they needn’t worry too much when they hit my space. As an unarmed person, like the kids in Afganistan, I shall be at their mercy. Real f…..ing heroes like their feckless Prez.

    • eddie47d

I think Peter is having an incoherent meltdown with that rambling tangent. So kind of you to bring up Afghanistan or as I like to say the Taliban nation. The Taliban has ruled that country with guns and a myriad of weapons and yes they do kill women and children if it suits their purpose. An armed nation is not always a polite nation by any stretch of the immagination and it only evens out the score a little quicker. This has been one of the biggest problems in Libya right now where a year ago all the weapons arsenals were looted. That means every rebel,Gaddafi supporters, freedom fighter and thugs have guns to keep that nation in turmoil. Revenge killings and even the Benghazi deaths can be tied to the loose laws and a lack of gun control. Everyone has them and the country is in chaos so more guns don’t equal a sane society!

One of the sets of questions asked of hillery the other day if indeed the killing of Stevens was over gun running. Don’t know just trying to put 2 & 2 together. And if you ask a accountant what 2 & 2 is he’ll get out his calculator and tell you it is 4, ask a engineer what 2 & 2 is and he’ll get out his slide rule and tell you it is 4, ask a lawyer what 2 & 2 is and he’ll lock the doors, pull down the window shades sit down in front of you and ask what do you want it to be, and they are the ones in charge of the America. Really Ted?

        What about “Right Wing Logic?”

Ronald Reagan had half a dozen armed Secret Service guys around him. Some had fully automatic weapons. Yet a nut case was able to shoot three people, including the President that they were supposed to protect.

Are you suggesting we put seven armed guards around each school child to protect them? That’s what “Right Wing Logic” seems to be. More guns to protect the kids…

The FACT is that the problem isn’t guns. The right wing needs to take responsibility for the reduction in mental health facilities that Reagan spearheaded. The right wing needs to help put in place meaningful means to track criminals and crazy folks. No more of the right wing “privacy” crap that has sidetracked things for almost three decades.

If you insist on identity cards for voters, how’s ’bout being able to identify crazy and criminal folks?

Take responsibility for your advocacy and budget cuts in mental health.

You are a bit off the mark there Eddie’
Obama supported the UN’s rape and pillage of Libya. Khadafi had been our silent ally in the prior three years but He had a lot of gold and a lot of oil. The UN, under whatever guise they made up and with the full support of Obama and his merry crew, Assasinated Khadafi, took his gold and oil and left the country to fend for themselves.

The fact that the remaining libyans have to have a gun to survive is irrelevant to our gun confiscation

      • eddie47d

Bill;I never approved of our going into Libya but I don’t look at Gaddafi’s as any kind of poster boy of decency. The Libyan people took care of him not foreign personal as you suggest. Did you approve of or disapprove of Reagan’s attempted assassination of Gaddafi? Yes it does matter in the proliferation of guns in any society. Freedom and chaos go hand in hand in gun ownership and I will keep fighting for a balanced approach.

    • KenPoland

Who do you think is profiteering from gun violence? Are they the ones who want to limit gun sales or are they the ones who want to increase gun sales? Most of those who want some kind of sensible control of guns and ammunition are not profiting from their efforts. The money behind the opposition for any kind of gun regulations are those who are in the business of producing and selling the product.

      • Richard

ken i can tell by your post u are a bit narrow-minded.

      • eddie47d

Then Nadzieja is saying that Hollywood should also be able to profit from whatever they put out regardless of its content? Gun dealers know exactly what their product is capable of accomplishing and we have those who continually give them the green light in selling any type of weapon imaginable. Movies don’t kill either but are they harmful or not?

Perhaps not monetarily Ken, but there are others ways of profiting besides filling the material coffers. Think about it.

trying to ban semi automatic rifles and extended magazines is not going to end in the gubmint taking all of your weapons, but I think the shooter had the choice between five weapons, an AR15, two semi automtic handguns and two that werent, and guess which weapons he took. Doesnt take a genius to figure out why they are trying to ban extended clips and semi automatic rifles with anywhere from 30 to 100 round magazines, and if you were not so paranoid you would see it too. Check your murder stats for this country, and the weapon of choice. Then check firearm related murders, and see how many involve an assault weapon(s). Outside of gang shootings, only about 1% to 2% of the murders by firearm were done with an “Assault” weapon. The ‘nut’ proof the world, if you try, you’ll need ban steak knives, baseball bats, tire tools and hammers as well as automobiles of all kinds! The weapon(s) involved in some mentally deficient person’s come-apart, does NOT WARRANT the banning or confiscation of these types of weapons!

      • Robert Smith

It is often stated that more folks are killed by .22 rounds than any other. I haven’t been able to substantiate it conclusively, but it is certainly an inexpensive, readily available, and relatively low noise.

BTW, Japan has a much higher suicide rate than America but they don’t use guns as much. I think we should look at causes of suicide and not mess with guns because of suicide.

Their game is to deliver exactly what America wants to watch. That’s how they get the numbers that the remuneration for advertizing is based upon in many cases.

Exactly. It’s the same with TV. The most popular shows are cop shows with plenty of violence. of course, the good guy always wins in the end, whic is as it should be.

    • eddie47d

Ultra Conservative Mel Gibson directed the movie The Passion of Christ. One of the most bloody movies ever made where pain reeked with every crack of the whip. Should a movie sugar coat the violence perpetuated by mankind and pretend that no one suffers or dies? Not sure why Richard wants the alphabet stations boycotted because of movies and sound like more of a pre programmed knee jerk reaction from him.

      • http://www.facebook.com/auzout5 J Augustin Auzout

but the “Passion” no one used a gun!

      • Jeff

I haven’t yet seen any of the movies mentioned in the Article, but there’s a big difference between violence needed to tell a story and gratuitous violence. I don’t see how one could tell any story about Lincoln’s war years without showing scenes of violence from the Civil War. Now, Quentin Tarantino, I admit, can be an acquired taste. I loved “Inglourious Basterds” but I do not share Tarantino’s love of blood and gore.

As for the celebrities, I think all of them would be better off hiring private security (That goes for athletes, as well) than carrying guns. I suspect that is what most of the intelligent ones do. If you live the life of a movie star, rock star, or star athlete, there are temptations galore, women, parties, etc. I know Chip would never fall victim to such temptations, but then I suspect no nubile young woman has ever shown an interest in what he has to offer. Why add to that the possibility of mishandling a gun while inebriated or driving drunk when you have enough money for an army of private security and a fleet of limousines?

      • Jeff

I forgot to mention that while violent movies and video games may desensitize one to violence, I doubt there’s a causal connection. People in other countries watch the same movies and play the same video games but don’t have our gun death rates. Could it be they have fewer guns available? In some cases, yes and in some cases, maybe not. Don’t Japanese kids watch all the same violent crap our kids do? [My son is 16 and loves violent video games although he's never played some of the worst like "Grand Theft Auto." Fortunately, he's not really big into violent movies although I recall sitting through one of the Transformers movies with him a few years ago. Aside from watching Megan Fox, the movie was just one explosion after the other. I thought I was watching a movie in Chinese but without the subtitles.]

Did you notice that Chip denounces the violence in movies but then wrings his hand and claim there is nothing we can do about it because of free speech. Says he “is vehemently opposed to it” (censorship). So typical to expose the problems yet not offering any solutions to those problems. Not much different with gun violence which is hard for him to even admit. Most Hollywood movies are so unrealistic with crashing cars, bombs going off and the hero never dying that it’s hard to separate fantasy from reality. Me and my wife watched an old Japanese Samurai movie (1961) last night. By the end of the movie most of the town’s citizens were dead and the city obliterated. So these types of movies have been going on for some time and not only in the USA. Although people died in Ben Hur and thousands in Spartacus they didn’t overplay the blood and violence to the point of nausea.

    AGREE WITH HAROLD ABOVE

  • Ray

Mr. Wood, Based on exactly what evidence have you deduced that Adam Lanza was: One, and fan of ultra violent video games and two, the shooter at Sandy Hook. These are allegations, but besides simply being told these things by the main stream media, there is really little evidence to support the official narrative as presented. I question that narrative as it was set up, by design, to be questioned. It is without question, causing divisiveness amongst the sheople and critical thinkers in hopes of conflict. Keep that in mind.

    • http://gravatar.com/cbgard Carlucci

I agree with Ray. I really don’t see how an allegedly autistic/Aspergers Syndrome person could do what Adam Lanza allegedly did on his own with such speed and accuracy, not to mention hauling all of those heavy firearms on such a skinny frame. I was under the impression that the military arms the more beefy guys like that when necessary. It all sounds very fishy to me. He wasn’t even mentioned in his mom’s obit.

As for those in “Hollyweird”, how can anyone take what they say seriously? They want to make movies with lots of blood and gore, yet have the nerve to make these ludicrous commercials and public statements calling for gun control. ProtectThyStudent, funny you should come up and compare no seat belts in buses with women’s rights, and a few other things the right seems to abhor. The seat belts in buses goes dead against the total design of buses, confining children in such a way as to ensure injuries and deaths, rather than leaving them slightly freer to move about, but with only well padded surfaces to interact with, rather than that not so giving belt. And, it has been proven that a child WILL have a better chance of survival in the currently designed buses than in anything short of a full five point racing harness, at a cost of roughly a thousand dollars a seat, assuming all the kids are going to be approximately the same size. Even worse, those harnesses will have to be tossed and replaced at least ONCE a school year, and quite likely three to five times a year due to damage inflicted BY THE STUDENTS. Talk to some bus drivers and learn a bit before you go blowing off about how something would work so very well in a bus.

        “Ya want porn, Rob?”

Actually I’d rather watch folks making love than killing each other.

        How ’bout you?

Blood and guts or snuggles and kisses…

Hey Robert Smith, whether or not TV and movies have a significant impact on motivating psychos (and there can be no doubt there is at least some), considering this hypothesis is at least addressing the source of the problem – the psycho. This is much better than the typical progressive/status droning about inanimate objects – guns.

So if you want to criticize those who point to violent entertainment as a root cause, that’s fine with me, as long as you admit that gun control freaks are even more inane.

What planet are you from Protect the Student; Sorry to inform you but there is some global warming, abortion is an individual choice not your interference in a woman’s life, yes there is over population, there is no such thing as a gun free zone as you interpret it,(another misnomer by pro gunners), vaccines save far more lives than they harm, yes humans are responsible for dwindling fish species ,(where have you been living in a cave?) and loose gun laws give more access to criminals to more guns. Oh well back to your cave!

Stow it Eddie. You people have already beaten that horse to the point where there’s nothing left to even resemble a reasonable argument. Get some new material already.

From speedle: “So if you want to criticize those who point to violent entertainment as a root cause,”

I didn’t do any such thing.

I don’t see shoot ‘em ups as causing mass killings anymore than I see porn as creating mass rapes.

        Really?
Well they sure go a long way toward the problem. Those and video games, the actions and speech of their parents and movies. Just look at the previews of the movies that are shown on the TV. Is there any remorse for shooting or killing someone on them? I don’t see any. In one preview one guy says you can’t just kill him like that and Stalone says why? I just did ! Sorry but I believe this all has a great deal to do with everything.

      • speedle

Robert Smith, you miss the point. I am saying if you criticize those who think media violence contributes to gun violence, which is a sort of a “let’s not overreact to something and come to a simplistic solution” approach, that’s fine. But at the same time the same thought process should bring you to the conclusion that new gun laws restricting access to weapons is even more inane than increased controls on entertainment production.

If you don’t follow that logic then your promoting for gun control is rooted in other ulterior motivations, not in an interest in preventing “Sandy Hooks” in the future. That would make you a “gun hypocrite”.

I like watching actors and actress’s practice their craft. I thought that Jamie Foxx’s role of Ray Charles was one of the best roles I have seen.

But they should stick to what they know, which is acting, and stay away from what they do not know, which is politics.

I have had several actors as clients and the artistic mind makes for great roles, but is a detrement to other aspects of life

      • got my licence

If these actors are so commited they could always turn down roles that conflict with their political beliefs. Like that will ever happen. Truth is actors say what they are told to say, stand where they are told to stand so whos to say where their politics come from.

P.S. I know this is not P/C but what kind of outcry would take place if on national TV any other race made the statement that they got to kill all the blacks?

What is right for one should be right for all. Knowone should get any more or any less because of the color of their skin Paraphraze MLK

“But they should stick to what they know, which is acting, and stay away from what they do not know, which is politics.”

Yes! America would be a much better place if Reagan had not been elected.

        Sonny Bono is another one.

Harold! You beat our little Jeremy! Good job! And, good post!

    • jann

Those who read the news to you are also actors

      • joanc

You are right Jann. The so called reporters on CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC and the UGH MSNBC all seem to read from the same script. I wonder who writes their “it’s a wonderful; day in the neighborhood” scripts. They never cover anything that might reflect badly on the King, if they do, they might get demerits from Soros.

Harold the people who make a living pretending to be someone they aren’t are doing the same thing now with their backing of government control, they are still playing a role. I tell them get a real job, work for a living and if you want more taxes, your over paid so give more to your messiah obozo.

      • Jeff

And I’m sure they’re paying attention. Why do you think your opinion would make the slightest difference to anyone?

    • Bob

Jennifer your breaking my heart guess your just as stupid as the rest of those liberal hollywood freaks. Hollywood and television is nothing but propaganda.
