NEW YORK, (UPI) – Veteran broadcast journalist Barbara Walters remained hospitalized Tuesday after falling and hitting her head in Washington during the weekend.
Whoopi Goldberg, her co-star on “The View,” gave an update on Walters’ condition during Tuesday’s edition of the daytime chat program.
“She missed a step and had a fall, which cut her upper temple. The doctors stitched her up and she’s doing fine, but they want her to take it easy,” Goldberg said.
She then read a statement from Walters, 83.
“First and foremost, I want to thank all the people who have called and written and been concerned about me. I am most appreciative. I am running a low-grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal. I am pleased to say it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon,” the statement said.
The ABC News stalwart was hospitalized Sunday, the day after she took a tumble and cut her forehead at a pre-inauguration party at the residence of the British ambassador to the United States.
