WASHINGTON, (UPI) – U.S. President Barack Obama is to serve as host of a cast and crew screening of the new White House-set sitcom, “1600 Penn,” NBC said.
The showing is to take place Wednesday, a day ahead of the series’ small-screen premiere.
“The late-afternoon event climaxes a whirlwind day of promotional events in Washington, D.C., designed to launch ’1600 Penn,’” NBC said in a news release Tuesday.
“The schedule also includes a tour of the White House and a screening and panel at the National Press Club. President Obama will be joined by his speech-writing team, which once included Jon Lovett, who co-created and executive-produces the show with series star Josh Gad, director Jason Winer and Mike Royce.”
The sitcom stars Bill Pullman as President Gilchrist, Jenna Elfman as his second wife, Emily, and Gad as Gilchrist’s wayward son, Skip.
