While Ryan did propose budget cuts it was the State Dept. that actually cut it even further than proposed. Also the ambassador had pleaded for added security as well as others and was turned down repeatedly. If the ambassador was incapable he should have been replaced immediately. The video may have been a small piece in angering the attackers in Benghazi. (released in July) Too many of you are slamming that “stupid” video like it was inconsequential. Do you really know for sure or are you blowing some hot air yourself. The attack lasted from about 9:30-1:00am. when most folks are heading for bed including those who work at the Mission. It would be hard to repel any surprise attack even in a fortified military compound. Those of you who have served in the military should know that and losses can be high in the first several minutes. Especially when most are winding down for the night. What isn’t being said at least here is that there was a CIA compound one mile away which was also under attack so they had a hard time responding to the Mission assault. Even if it was a planned attack who is to say anyone knew about it. You really think al Qaeda was going to put an ad in the paper and announce the time and date? Did we know when the Twin Towers were going to be hit? Did we know when the Marine barracks in Lebanon were going to be bombed?

I know for sure Obama and his administration continued to blame the moronic video while evidence shows the highest levels of government knew almost real-time of the situation on the ground. Elba, Rand: As I also pointed out in his speech the President used the word attack to describe the attacks in benghazi and the 9/11 tragedy. He was making a comparison between the two. What I was and still am trying to say is in the days following the speech the President and his people dropped the ball. However they did not always say it was the result of a stupid video and it did not take them a long time to call it a terror attack as many including Mr. Livingston have suggested.

eddie the attack lasted for seven hours with a brief lull in the assault. The CIA compound was a mile away from the consulate. The “annex” did take notice of the attack and did call for assisstance as they were trained to do when the attack first began. They asked permission to help but were denied and they disobeyed the orders to stand down. Their actions saved about thirty peoples lives from my understanding. Woods was killed manning a 50 caliber on the roof of the consulate by a mortar round. According to reports they were pleading for help and had the target painted for SPECTER to take out. No help ever came although a Marine General was relieved of command during the attack as was an Admiral. Why? Why were forces that were trained to handle this type of situation not dispatched as they were within striking distance? That answer alone has to go all the way to the top as it was obama’s okay that was needed. there was a meeting that began 55 minutes after the attack began at the White House that included obama, Biden, Panetta, and Clinton. It was already scheduled but all the players needed to make a fast decision were already assembled in one place with all the information coming at them in real time.

This does not match the reports I have read and seen. I would like to know who wrote this and why. There were no reports of attacks on the annex until the return by the evacuation detail. 1: The big whoop is many people have attacked Obama for not calling it a terror attack in the days following. My point is he did. And more importantly he compared what happened to what happened at the trade towers on 9/11.

2: I was pointing out the information because many seem to consider it important. Because numerous people from Mitt Romney to Fox News have repeatedly mentioned Obama’s failure to respond to requests for more security in the embassy. They do not talk about how he treated the attack as it happened, they talk about what should have been done differently in the time leading up to it. That was what my information was pointed at.

3: For the last time Dave I am not flashman. I am not lying. There is no evidence that I am flashman or anyone else. You say I am because Mr. Livingston and a few others do. I have already sent in my ballot and we had two expensive school bond issues and I voted against both. Not just because they would have added $450 on my yearly taxes but mostly that we have plenty of vacant schools or empty classrooms that could be used. These issues are on the ballot every other year and most pass and I am hoping these two don’t. I know you like to say being in a union is theft but I haven’t seen that happen and my 40 years in the union is nothing to be ashamed about.
