Bus And Truck Crash With No Drivers

PATTERSON, Pa., (UPI) – Police in Pennsylvania said they are investigating a bizarre crash between an unoccupied bus and an unoccupied truck.
Patterson police Chief Rich Cindrich said the McCarter Transit school bus, which had been parked by its driver on the street for about half an hour, began to roll downhill around 9:55 a.m. Tuesday and struck the truck, which then also began to roll down the hill, the Beaver Times reported Wednesday.
“We think it probably sheared the parking pin on the truck,” Cindrich said.
He said the vehicles traveled downhill side-by-side until the truck flipped over onto its side and the bus struck two utility poles before coming to a rest about 0.1 mile from where it was originally parked.
Cindrich said no injuries were reported.
He said police are still attempting to determine why the bus started rolling.
“If it malfunctioned, odds are it would still be in the on position. Since it was in off position, it almost seems like somebody would have disabled the brake,” Cindrich said. “(But) we don’t have any witnesses, so we can’t say yes or no.”
