Waging War On A Cold With Chicken Soup

October 23, 2012 by

When you’re all achy and stuffy with a cold, take your mom’s advice: Sip some soothing, hot chicken soup. A recent online report indicates that chicken soup may help battle a cold in multiple ways:

  • Sipping the soup helps you stay hydrated.
  • Inhaling the steam helps you breathe better by loosening congestion.
  • And researchers have found that the soup has anti-inflammatory properties in a laboratory environment.

So when you’re all stopped up, don’t get your feathers ruffled. Soothe the soreness that a cold can cause — with chicken soup.

    Chicken as a meat has been depicted in Babylonian carvings from around 600 BC.[3] Chicken was one of the most common meats available in the Middle Ages. It was widely believed to be easily digested and considered to be one of the most neutral foodstuff.;

    Which brand of soup? Should I ask my doctor? Do I need a prescription?

    Wouldn’t it be better to call grandma?…….she used to make it.

      Any brand will do, you don’ have to ask your doctor and you don’t need a prescription. Now, with all the dumb questions answered – should I drink creamy chicken or the uncreamy type. What about noodles – are they okay with the chicken soup and should I use free range chicken soup or organic. Is it better to buy the chicken and make your own?

      • GALT

        Were the chickens fed with gmo feed or given growth hormones?

        Were the free range chickens eating bugs exposed to pesticides?

        Ranging near a coal fired electric utility?

        Low fat or high fat creamy?

        What happened to the only dumb question is the one that is not asked?

        What was having fun with Bob for posting a really weak filler, is now having fun with Bill too. Are you having FUN, Bill?
