Michelle Obama Claps For Romney

When Tuesday’s debate moderator Candy Crowley interjected and said that President Barack Obama did in fact call the attack on Libya an “act of terror,” applause erupted. She then said it took two weeks for everything to get sorted out and Mitt Romney was correct about that. Michelle Obama clapped.

That’s like clapping when the team you’re rooting against scores. To add insult to injury, it was against the rules to applaud during the debate. A tip for Michelle: If you’re going to break the rules, at least support your hubby.

Both campaigns agreed that there would be no applause during the debate. Article 9, Section A, Subsection 7 of the memorandum of understanding states:

All members of the debate audience will be instructed by the moderator before the debate goes on the air and by the moderator after the debate goes on the air not to applaud, speak, or otherwise participate in the debate by any means other than by silent observation, except as provided by the agreed upon rules of the October 16 town hall debate.

In the video below, when Crowley shows her bias and interrupts Romney there is applause from multiple members of the audience. That’s understandable behavior from those on the left. I realize that liberals have trouble following instructions. But then Crowley goes on to, in a roundabout way, support Romney’s statement that it took a while for the administration to call the Libya attack a terrorist attack. “You’re correct about that,” Crowley adds. After affirming Romney’s statement, somebody in the audience starts clapping loudly. When the camera pans back, it’s none other than the first lady.

    IMO, this “presidential debate” came across as a disgusting display between two overridingly self-serving, overwhelmingly insubstantial, deeply unimaginative and uninspiring, at core circumlocuitous and deceptive, bad the for nation, extremely poor (and potentially dangerously so) choices of candidates for the Presidency of the United States.

    And the “debate’s” so-called “moderator”, Ms. Crowley, adding fuel to the fire by VIOLATING the proper role of a moderator, by VIOLATING basic “fair debate” rules, by FAILING to press either of the candidates to give direct answers to the direct questions that some of the audience-members asked, and by inserting HERSELF into the debate — and doing so in multiple ways that, in my view, evidenced (a) her lack of fairness toward Romney, (b) her partiality in favor of Obama, (c) and her outrageous and unprofessional (IMO) apparent willingness to insert into the discussion WRONG INFORMATION — wrong information that she “just happened” to use TO SHUT-DOWN ROMNEY:

    IMO: Absolutely disgusting, the whole ball of wax!

    With our nation soon to fall (back into?) the hands of either one of these “presidential candidates” — as well as these guys’ choices of running-mates (especially as per the recent display of what, in my view, came across as a “Cheshire Cat On Prozac” versus a “Schoolboy Who Fudged His Homework”) — and with ALL of them doing their best (or so it seems) to AVOID honestly/capably confronting/resolving many of the key issues that are REALLY — and in PROFOUND ways — affecting the nation, I ask the following:

    How are we, the American People to have any confidence that EITHER of these guys/teams will be able to extricate us from the tailspin that our nation — and our Constitutional freedoms, rights, and our very livelihoods — are now in, and to once again build the nation, and our freedoms and rights and opportunities to once again grow our livelihoods, into something great?

    Perhaps — and hopefully — my above perceptions will prove to be wrong, and that whomever takes (or re-takes) the reigns of power, those persons will do a fantastic job at tackling all these problems and making our nation — and all that We, the People, cherish — grand once again.

    Or is that to be just a “pipe dream”?

    Where, today, against this backdrop — or so I wonder — is a George Washington, a Thomas Jefferson, an Abraham Lincoln, even a Teddy Roosevelt, a Harry Truman (remember “The Buck Stops Here?”), a Dwight David Eisenhower, a John F. Kennedy, and even as some might add, a Ronald Reagan, just to name a few?

    As to Michelle clapping even though the “debate’s moderator”, Ms. Crowley, had earlier instructed the audience that no clapping would be permitted, this I chalk up to just some minor — albeit irritating — points of interest: (a) Perhaps Michelle simply “got swept up in the moment”, which does happen to people, or perhaps she somehow felt that the “no-clapping” rule did not apply to her; so, if the latter, what does that say about her? (b) And, too, what does it say about Ms. Crowley as a debate “moderator”: Since it Ms. Crowley who had earlier announced (and with great sternness) the “no-clapping rule”, what does it say about Ms. Crowley that she then made no move to stop the clapping or to reprimand (even politely) Michelle for that clapping?

    As if this clapping-issue weren’t the least of our problems!

    NOTE: Back in the days of 2nd Century Rome versus Sparta, the Roman senator Cato the Elder concluded his Senate speeches with the phrase “Carthago delenda est” — i.e., “Carthage must be destroyed!”. I would transpose that admonition, in the present instance, to a clarion-call that we focus our attention NOT on such minuscule issues as Michelle clapping but instead on the NECESSITY of RECOGNIZING — and urgently seeking to REVERSE — the rapidly-accelerating crumbling of our FREEDOMS:

    For example, do the research about the questions as to the alleged constitutionality, and the actual (and lives-affecting and freedoms-crushing) impact of things as the NDAA, or certain recent months’ Executive Orders (one in which a State of National Emergency was actually declared, but did that make any headlines?), or the laws known as FATCA and FBAR (which critics assert are setting up, in essence, a form of “Iron Curtain” that is now closing-in on Americans’ rights to their own money and their rights to live, work, and travel outside the country).

    Of course there’s so much more, and perhaps there are various other viewpoints that might be expressed about such things. But do we hear the major party “presidential candidates” being asked about these issues, either the these televised “debates” or my the major media? Do we hear either of these major party “presidential candidates” even voluntarily bringing up, or seeking to honestly address, these issues themselves?

    Cato the Elder declared “Carthago delenda est”. Perhaps we, today, should now declare, if I may paraphrase John Lennon’s words, “All we want is some truth. Just give us some truth.”

      Michelle Obama, wife of President Barack Obama, is the First Lady of the United States. The “title” has been given to the wives of the Presidents since 1877. IOW, this is neither new or unusual. The fact that you don’t LIKE this First Lady changes nothing.

    After Michelle looked at the dog eater, and then looked at Romney she had to applaud for a real man who doesn’t eat his dog.
    What is the surprise (to Much Candy) did what all sociaIists do, she lied, so what is strange about that? That is her liberal nature, did Romney think, that all of a sudden democrats were going to have morals just because they were force to put God back in their platform?

    I am not watching another debate, my opinion is there should be no debates only questions and answers for the candidate not in the White House. There should be no money spent by a incumbent President and he cannot campaign or fundraise. His record should speak for itself and if the people like the record there is no discussion and he should win hands down. We really only need to know about the potential President since he has no record.

    Pretty simple if you like the path we are on, vote Obama, if not we need to change course and Vote Romney. Very simple; the record speaks for itself, nothing Obama says will change that!

    Has anyone ever stopped a second to think about something? People a lot smarter than I keep stating that we have to insure that only American citizens are allowed to vote and that a photo ID be required. OK, how do we do this? What type of photo ID is acceptable? Is it a driver’s license or one of the many other forms of identification that people carry around in their wallet or purse? Stop and think. What kind of proof did you need in order to get a driver’s license or all of these other forms of ID? Did you need to present a copy of your birth certificate or naturalization papers to get these documents ? Of course not. So, that simply means that none of these documents prove you are an American citizen. Only your original Birth Certificate or your Naturalization Papers are proof that you are a citizen of this country. The only true means to insure that only American citizens vote is to have them present their birth certificate or naturalization papers when they originally register to vote. Anything less than this makes the entire system of voting a sham. How come a regular guy, like myself, can figure this out and some of the smartest people in the country cannot? Just asking.

      NO CITIZEN , NO PROOF , NO VOTE. Come to TX. I witnessed a Mexican applying for a passport that could not speak English yesterday. Male 28 years old. His wife who came hear illegally had her child while here in US. and sent for Daddy to come from GDL. It’s disgusting. These maybe good people, but it’s not right. Another 20.00 a day worker driving down our economy, schools and every aspect of our lives. This President has done nothing but fight and sue our boarding states to MX. Other people from Europe are waiting in line following the rules. US. Citizenship has Value ! It did not come for free. Thank you Floridastorm.

      You’re not such a smart guy. They already do this in most states, at least in the ones I’ve lived in. I have lived in four different states. When I registered to vote in all of them I brought a copy of my birth certificate to register. So did everyone else in line with me. If you did not have a birth certificate, you could not register to vote. Drivers licenses were not accepted in the 4 states I have lived in.

        I think it rather funny. Most Blue States require a birth certificate and/or other written form of identification while the Red States require a picture.

      I just recently moved to kentucky from another state and indeed you are required to present your birth certificate to aquire a Ky drivers licence. I do not know how many states follow this practice but Ky certainly does. As a matter of fact I have stated several times to officials here that you have to show more Id to get a drivers licence here than Obama had to show to run for president.

It has been confirmed to be real by State of Hawaii officials (repeatedly), as well as at least 7 courts that have affirmed that Obama is a natural born citizen, after viewing it.

        FACT: Hawaii does not issue fraudulent documents
        FACT: Judges know what an official document looks like
        FACT: There is a national program to verify birth certificates from other states. This was done in AZ, in relation to Obama’s birth certificate. They put in the information that was on his certified bc, and Hawaii confirmed that that was what they had in their database. What is in their database was entered directly from the official document. All HI could do was verify or deny the data that was sent to them from AZ, because of their own vital record laws (each state has their own).

        Yes, Hawaii did verify it as valid. What you showed me was a flat out lie. And it has been shown to be a lie repeatedly. Do you just ignore facts that you don’t agree with?

        The States that have ruled that Obama’s bc is valid AND that he is a natural born citizen are Indiana, Maryland, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Vermont and New York.

        Being stubborn and refusing to accept documented facts simply doesn’t make sense. Nobody is asking you to like, or even approve of, Obama. But how can you look at documented facts and pretend that they aren’t? If you don’t believe these are real, look them up. I gave you at least two case numbers. They should be on SCRIBD.

        I will research these court cases later, but you need to get your fecal matter in order, I have never every lied on a post here. I gave you complete and verifiable information and can still send you copies of what I stated to be true. The long form BC posted for Barak Obama was not a certified copy, it did not have the necessary attached portion with the certification stamp and name of person certifying or the date it was certified. Also there is a descrepency in the reports of how it was obtained. The email/letter from Hawaii said they were sending two certified digital copies. Then others (you included) claim that the document received had a stamp on it that they could feel. You cant feel a stamp on a digitized copy.

        Also, a state court (even federal courts of states) cannot overturn the rulings of the Supreme Court of the United States. There is no ruling in the Supreme Court where it is stated that you are a natural born citizen if you are born in the United States. And, that would be such a farce that nobody with any intelligence would ever attempt to state it as fact. Some Mexican’s baby that was born to illegal immigrants in the United States is not natural born it is native born. I am not even sure of that name unless one parent is a citizen. But in fact Barak Obama is at best Native born since he had only one US citizen for a parent. Where he was born does not matter, he is still not native born.

      The Republicans gloated about the movie 2016 and over the last few years folks like you have insisted that he is not a US citizen. The movie clearly insists that Obama was born in Hawaii. So will the Republicans try and have it both ways since they have been called out on that issue? Obama may have grown up as a Muslim but hasn’t been one for decades and represents all American citizens not just Christians. He gets upset when any American is attacked whether Christian or Muslim. When it comes to Israel he won’t be bullied into war with Iran just because Netanyahu says so. Unlike Romney who says he will automatically side with Israel even in a preemptive attack started by Israel. That means Romney would relinquish his Presidency to the whims of Israel. Obama is far more cautious in declaring war with Iran which shouldn’t even be needed. Your childish name calling revels who you really are and your agenda.

The US is apparently in Debt to lots of other countries, but they are in debt to other countries as well, an if you open your eyes, you’ll realize that there isn’t a single country that isn’t in debt to at least one other country – another you might wanna ask is, where did the debts start?     What it shows is that the Obama’s are put in the spot light for the first time and Michelle is very concerned about criminal action against the President. Their spin room is not working on this one, and someone at State Intelligence Department will not back down. That person is a silent Hero! Obama’s wanted to make it Constitution issue so he could do his agenda by changing our right of Free Speech. Then they could start attacking the rest of our Constitution. Those Citizens were thrown aside like a dirty rag and it’s disgraceful at the highest level. What they failed to recognize is that we the people who really care about US Citizens, and Citizenship understand these were our Bothers, precious US Citizens, who where were tortured after their call for help. Can you imagine their fright ! Why were they not Air Lifted several days in advanced is pure negligence and President should go to JAIL .. Regardless if he wins or not ! Why did no one show up to investigate? Why did CNN find the Journal ? They are looking for a needle in a hay stack as to the exact persons whom did this. They will find someone to satisfy the angry US crowed so they can live in peace and justify their ego’s. Shame on the whole Obama administration!

      Pete, their “needle in a haystack” is an excuse for the LIES that were being spewed, day after day, about the “video.” This Admnistration (Alexrod, Pelosi, Reid) and the press secretary have been lying for years (Fast & Furious). This episode couldn’t have occurred at a more inconvenient time for Obama, and the MSM downplaying it, like they did Fast & Furious, won’t wash this time. If it had been on Bush’s watch, it would have been front page news for WEEKS, with graphic details of the sodomizing of the Ambassador and then dragging him through the streets. Innocent lives were lost and we all want to know WHY. Who decided to pull their security detail? What was the reason? Hannity has it right: there are two crimes here. One, lack of security; Two, cover-up.

The crony capitalist misused the US economy especially those on Wall Street and hurt the American citizen deeply. Do you really care how those Elites treated and abused the middle class or in your words the American citizenry? The collasped economy under a different administration brought true fear to to millions. The Benghazi attack was unfortunate and mistakes made but this administration will get the culprits. I hate to bring this up again yet under your reasoning shouldn’t Ronald Reagan have been brought up on “criminal” charges for allowing those 230 Marines to be killed and not affording them proper protection.

    Did Candy give Obama this question before the debate??? Watch the tape again people the very second that Gov. Romney say’s that Obama did not call it an act of terror, Obama say’s show him the transcript and Candy holds up some papers and states we have the transcript right here then puts it down and tells Gov. Romney whatever. How is it that she has that one speech right there? Did she have all his speeches right in front of her or what? Please help me understand how this was a fair and honest debate.

      Candy did her homework like a good moderator should do. Obama is very concerned about terror and said so up front.. He also weighed in All the evidence while Romney shot from the hip. The good news is that they know who the ring leader is in that Benghazi attack and knowing Obama he will be caught.

        First of all she was not a good moderator because she broke the rules and was pro-Obama. Maybe it was my overactive conspiracy theory mentality but, It seems to me that Obama got the last word on EVERY argument. And I am not saying he won them I mean she would not allow Romney to respond to Obama’s, obviously hyped up, claims.

        Second, without collusion, how was it that A. she had the transcript to “prove” Obama’s lie and B. Obama KNEW she had it.

        The mistake that Romney made in that instance was not asking her to actually produce the document. Yes, she lifted papers, but were they actually a transcript of that rose garden speech?

Now watch the video that TML (todays comments) showed about the Rose Garden and Obama did call Benghazi a terrorist attack and a few other harsh words.

        I watched it live on tv eddie, I dont need to review it because I have a very good memory. She was rude to Romney, she was not conducting the debate as per the rules.

        He never said the attack in Libya was a terror attack he never said it was a terrorist attack either. He did however make a statement earlier in that clip that implies he is blaming the video. He said that we will not tolerate people making derisive statements about any religion. The we have respect for ALL religions.

        He called the attack an attack period.

        You and those two others here that want to pretend that his statement about us not allowing any terrorist attack change our determination means he called that attack a terrorist attack is bordering on lunacy. He said what he said, assuming he knows what he is saying, he meant what he said. Your, or anyone else, cannot change the meaning of what he said by saying “well what he meant was”.

        If you want me to provide you with actual quotes from the transcript of the rose garden speech to support my statements just ask and I will provide them.

      This issue was the biggest foreign policy issue since the last debate and there was a congressional hearing with State Dept. representatives just a day or two prior to the debate. Everyone in the news media knew this issue would come up in the debate. Everyone knew that even if there was not a direct question about the issue, Romney would be foolish not to bring it up in some fashion.

    The Obamas believe they are above the rules. Near the end of the debate, I took note of a hispanic woman who would question Romney about immigration. She opened her mouth with an excited and breathless, “Hello, Mr. President,” and followed it with starting her question, “Romney.” Not Governor, or Mr. Romney, just “Romney.” She was obviously an Obama fan and felt open hostility toward Romney. Yet these people in the audience were supposedly “undecided.” Right. We knew in advance what the deal was. Selecting Long Island, New York as the venue instead of a swing state, with an openly left moderator let everyone know this was not exactly going to be an unbiased event. Despite this, Mitt did fine just working with the facts and truth of Obama’s record.

      One must additionally wonder how ANYONE except an idiot could be undecided at this point. Notwithstanding the similarity in some aspects of the candidates’ positions, the basic philosophies are sufficiently disparate as to offer a more or less clear choice.

      People who have no schooling in history, people who are politically illiterate, people who vote only one issue (usually not a major issue), people who are more swayed by sound bites and debate performances than substance, and those who seek “likeability” in a candidate, are the dross of the electoral system in this country.

      I have often thought that (not all but) many of those who describe themselves as “independent” are being disingenuous. They use the label as some sort of badge which they hope displays some aura of intelligence or thoughtfulness. Most have already made up their minds, and seek only to be in a “sought after” group to assuage their egos.

And Candy Crowley interrupted Romney enough to break up a point he was making or stop point he was making…plus allowing Obama and extra 3 minutes. I tried to listen with an attentive ear, but the moderator favoritism was not as subtle as she maybe intended it to be.

First of all, She was clapping, along with others, as a continuation of the applause for the moderator straightening out Romney’s version of what happened. Secondly, I watched the debate on a channel that was concerned about the debate NOT what the audience was doing. I am not surprised this clip came from FOX. The voice of the conservative channel is focusing on the audience so that their viewers are not subjected to Romney’s lies and lack of any specifics.

        Obviously you missed the bigger picture and there are many facets to the Benghazi attack. Now days everything is a TERRORIST attack . Terror this and Terror that! It was an insurgency or rebel attack or some group trying regain control of their country. I’m not saying they aren’t committing an act of terror for any war or conflict is an act of terror. The Sand Creek massacre in Colorado could be labeled as an act of terror and was far more deadly yet it is not called that. Ahmed Abu Khattala head of Ansar al-Sharia is the mastermind of this attack and as the name implies wants to establish sharia law. This is a very dangerous group for many reasons and little different than those in Algeria who have killed thousands in the past few years. Obama,Bush or even Romney can’t stop rebel groups from forming and its hard to stop insurrections until after they are launched. Now that we know who they are and exposed they can be taken out. Maybe Obama over played the video in his remarks but who is to say the video didn’t play a part. We all know the video came out in July and Islamic groups all over the world pay attention to these kinds of things. They may have seen it before hand and patientlly waited until 9/11 to launch their “revenge”.

And not a single politician of either party called the President a traitor or a criminal who deserved impeachment over that devastating tragedy. The two special forces guards were killed defending the compound. There were 30 people working and living at the consulate and most made it to the safe room yet we never hear about precautions used to save them. Stevens death has been sensationalized for political purposes and that is a shame. Its a different political climate than when mistakes were made while Reagan was President yet many more deaths occurred.

My girl Abbey took reserve (runner-up) both days I show the dogs myself. I have 7 German Shorthaired Pointers. My husband used to hunt but had to quit because he couldn’t keep up with them. He passed away January 30th of this year.and I put the ashes of his favorite hunting dog in the casket with him. I thank God I have the dogs. The dogs were so much a part of my husband’s life. He really loved them all. The dogs keep me busy and I am still working full time as an editor for a publishing company here in town. I have to keep busy or I constantly think about my husband of 52 years. He was a good soul, a good honest person and he was good to me. Thanks for your courtesy.

Lie#1 His birth certificate has been proven to be fake, but no one goes after it because they don’t want to embarass the country or start a racial riot, Because we know that would happen if the 1st black president was found out to be a fake!!!         No, Tim, it has not been proven to be false. The State of Hawaii and its election commission examined Obama’s long-form birth certificate and declared it legit. And they have the final word. Not various on-line political bloggers. Political bloggers and radio talk show hosts don’t determine the authenticity of birth certificates, state agencies and election commissions do. Otherwise anyone on-line or on-air can declare anyone’s birth cerificate false for their own political reasons. You can mouth off on the subject and you can pontificate about it on-line and in conversation with your friends. But you have zero power in making the official decision. State election boards and commissions have 100% of that power. And they have acted.

      The first answer that Obama DID say the words terrorism soon after the attack and the second response from Candy re: Romney being right about the two weeks came rather quickly one behind the other. So, I could see where people might mistake the clapping one for the other. I am sure the first lady was clapping for her husband and Claire was right. Let’s stop the silliness.
