-Get people working. This whole country has been complaining about our infrastructure decaying and causing untold amounts of problems. So have people, company’s, bid on infrastructure jobs. Make it that, in order to bid, they have to be US based and use US Citizens. Make it that the majority of materials used in the job be US made. Make the payments of jobs awarded be based on completion rather than automatic payments. Make it that ALL jobs awarded are to be part of the SSA system. What is paid back in taxes by those employed will/should equal the monies spent on the jobs.

-Once our deficit level has evened out, then, and only then, can we take steps to lower our budget. If we try to do so beforehand we will be putting more people on unemployment, more people needing (not just wanting) the safety net services, and will make it much more difficult to get out of debt.

Explain how a budget cut kills jobs. It works just the opposite. Cuts with concomitant tax relief leave taxpayers (consumers) with more disposable income, while freeing up money for capital investment.

A decade is 10 years. If this goes back to the 1975 automatic annual COLA’s, then it is almost 4 decades.

Plus, while the President does sign the bill, he cannot increase the COLA amount and cannot decrease the COLA amount.

I’m not ungrateful. I respect anyone who has honorably served in our Armed Services. The dedication as well as the sacrifice that Veterans have displayed do not go unnoticed. However, I am aware of who “butters my bread.”

In 2008, almost 120 construction workers died in Austin, Texas. They went to work that morning expecting to go home in the same shape that they got there. Maybe a little tired and dirty, but still have all of their parts. Most of these workers were working on non-union jobs for non-union contractors. These “patriot” business owners thought it would be a good idea to have unsafe working conditions. Who wants to spend money on a new ladder? The one you got is only missing a few rungs. And why should I spend a lot of money hiring a shoring contractor since you will only be in that hole for about 10 minutes? There is a reason why we have laws like OSHA and labor unions. To protect us from the “patriot” Bidness entrmanuers who only see dollar $igns. I’t these “casualties” i’m most passionate about. Even the so-called “overpaid” union workers make lees than they did in 1979 when adjusted for inflation.

If you consider that part-time jobs are a good thing, then quit your present one(that is if you have one) and apply for a part-time. Now try to provide for yourself and family on maybe $10.00 per hour.Full time employment at that rate would only garner $400.00 per week or about $20,800.00 per year.

Now take into consideration seasonal employment. Most companies hire from October to December to meet the seasonal demand. But come January, you are out of work.

Then there is the confirmed number control where information can only be reported if given out by the Dept of Labor(where all information coming in from the various states are correlated and reported) and having worked for the federal government it is not uncommon for reports to be slanted in the direction your supervisor wishes it to go.

Also, obama ask all military equipment and arms manufactures to hold off on their lay offs until after the election when these layoffs were to have been given within a certain time perod. Lockheed Martin agreed to this after the administration told them they would cover the law suits that would arise from this action.

We are now to believe that because we have a number under 8 that all is good and getting better. I have noticed that any number the pressent administration gives us this week will be adjusted up the following week. I also find that any improvement in this economy seems to come from states that have Republican gov. that incourages energy production. Emagine that using American resorces to employ Americans who pay taxes to provide the energy needs of America. What a consept. One other item, When did the safety net become a hammock?

I wondered about that. I have read that California, one of the worst states for unemployment, did not get its numbers in. So that means it is okay to just not count them? If this the way he….Obama…. runs the government? It seems the answer is yes. Just look at Scenario 1: item 2. When will people open their eyes, or rather close their open hands and do what is best for this country?

OBVIOUSLY this was written before the TRUTH came out: they “forgot” to include CALIFORNIA into the mix !!!!!! One of the largest populations in the country, and they conveniently FORGOT to include them in the count !!!! Actually I believe there were a whole bunch of files from California that were not included in the job numbers report. This coming week they will revise the numbers, again. Of course they were cooking the books. These people are in power and they want to stay that way. Michelle is not done vacationing and firing numerous people on her extremely large staff.

Are you talking about the same Jack Welch who, while at GE saw a net job reduction of between 30,000 and 100,000? The same Jack Welch who told Chris Mathews that he had “no hard evidence” to back up his claims? Yes, “he actually KNOWS something about “numbers”!”, enough to admit that he doesn’t have any to rely upon.

Many on the Right (FOX News comes to mind) like to compare Obama’s numbers to those of Ronald Reagan. Both faced a recession when they took office, and both faced rising unemployment. Well, sort of. Carter’s last year (1980) started out with 3 months of flat unemployment at 6.25%, but it rose sharply and by July had reached 7.75%. By the time Reagan took office there had been a steady 5 month decline, reaching 7.25% in December. Obama, on the other hand came into office on the heels of an 8 month trend of sharply rising unemployment, beginning at 5% and ending around 7.5%! So while one might say that they both started out with virtually the same rate of unemployment, one faced improving numbers while the other was dealing with a rising crisis.

So, how does the comparison look after 4 years? Both entered re-election with an unemployment rate roughly the same as when they first entered office. Both had maintained government employment numbers (though Reagan would go on to increase the number of Federal employees in his second term.) The average annual compound returns for the Dow, S&P500, and NASDAQ have been 17.2%, 25.3% and 31.7% respectively compared to Reagan’s first term results of 6.86%, 6.16%, and 7.02% respectively. Unemployment under Reagan 10% for a 10 month period, reaching a high of 10.8% for two months in late fall of 1982. The highest unemployment rate under Obama was one month of 10% in late 2009. And the debt as a percentage of GDP increased roughly 4 times under Reagan, while it is decreasing at roughly the same rate under Obama.

Shelia, how do you figure the numbers are correct, the numbers are cooked just like everything Obama does. How can you or anybody for that matter support Obama. Just his background alone should disqualify him from being president. We wouldn’t support a man for pesident who is a former drug dealer and Obama admits that he sold cocaine. Obama couldn’t pass a background check if he weren’t president. After becoming president Obama did the one thing that would hurt the economy and that was to increase debt. He not only did this once but three times. In addition we needed jobs more than anything, instead of creating new jobs Obama cut good jobs instead. He stopped Keystone Pipeline, losing 100,000 jobs, he stopped off shore drilling losing at least 50,000 more jobs. Obama stopped drilling on public lands losing a minimum of 1 million new jobs plus indirect employment. Obama then sent money to Brazil paying for them to drill for oil. Obama cut the production of f-16′s for Taiwan which cost 15,000 jobs in Texas at Lockheed. Obama could have ended the recession in less than a year if he had left things along instead of messing up the economy more. America can’t afford four more years of his destruction.
