GOP Lawmakers Want More Answers On Libya Attack

On Wednesday, a group of eight House GOP committee chairmen demanded that the Administration of Barack Obama issue a new briefing about the events that unfolded in Benghazi, Libya, that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens dead.

According to The Hill, the lawmakers scolded the Administration for its inconsistent account of the events leading up to and during the attack. In a letter to Obama, the lawmakers said that they were “disturbed” by statements indicating the attack stemmed from an anti-Islamic video.  

“Decades after al Qaeda attacked our embassies in East Africa, which catalyzed a series of events that led to the attacks on 9/11, it appears they executed a highly coordinated and well-planned attack against us again,” the letter said. “Clearly, the threat from al Qaeda and affiliated groups has metastasized; yet we do not appear to be learning from the past.”

Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) sent a separate letter to U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice on Wednesday asking “how the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations could characterize an attack on a U.S. consulate so inaccurately five days after a terrorist attack that killed four Americans.”

This was in response to Rice’s assertion that the attacks were “spontaneous.”

    I guess you have hear the news by now, it broke early AM, ~ The California man responsible for creating this film is an Egyptian and wanted for probation violations of bad checks.

    Nakoula, 55, was arrested Thursday. He had eight probation violations, including lying to his probation officers and using aliases, and he might face new charges that carry a maximum two-year prison term, authorities said. Nakoula will remain behind bars until another hearing where a judge will rule if he broke the terms of his probation.

    We knew for months that the areas in Lybia and Egypt were unstable and that our people were under possible threat. We should have had at least two heavily armed squads of Marines assigned to each Embassy and Consulate in these countries. Who was in charge of security for this area? Whoever, was in charge of setting up their security should be gone.

    I want susan rice and anyone connected with her removed from ALL US Government Jobs/APPOINTMENTS and criminal charges brought!!!
    This didn’t just bubble up … they knew it was coming and she removed any chance of OUR People being able to defend themselves!!
    I am tired of basic stupidity including that by obama and clinton….sick of their lies and coverups!
    Immigration from ALL Marxist Communist Socialist Muslim Countries should be stopped and ALL Visas and ALL US Funds/Aid should be cancelled IMMEDIATELY!!!
    There should be a very high price to any country that allows any type of attack on US Citizens!!

      So there is stupidity..could be. Yet read your last sentence again. It could also read “There should be a very high price to any country that allows any type of attack on” Muslim citizens. Why in the heck do you think so many Muslims are angry and attacking us. We have had plenty of our own first strikes and giving them reasons to seek revenge. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Does anyone have the courage not to provoke these conflicts? Both sides are fighting evil with evil thus creating more evil.

    Islam is simply a violent backward religion. They will find any excuse to kill people who do not follow Islam. Their intolerance goes against everything the United States stands for (where here we have laws to allow anyone to follow whatever religion they want and say whatever they want).

    In this case, they are now calling for the deaths of more US Ambassadors world wide. They will use any lame excuse (ie the u tube movie) to further more violence and death to others. A movie is never a reason to kill anyone ever.

        So, after a decade of soviet occupation and another of a coalition of the US and allies, why would you feel that Islamic nations are wild about our presence there? Haven’t we mettled there enough? We destroyed Iraq and we are their best customers of oil products and we give their governments foreign aide to bolster their weapons systems.
        Small wonder we keep so many enemies over there.
        Is it too any wonder why they hate the crap out of us? We have bombed Libya, Syria, and interfered militarily and clandestinely with the rest of the warring factions claiming alliance with Israel.
        If we would just leave them alone, they would still sell us the oil we need. Now, due in part
        of our involvement in the middle east, we have over 7 million middle easterners living a taking over cities like Detroit. Now we have them living here because of our loyalty to Israel..The same Israel that attacked and almost dank the USS Liberty…ad never apologized for!
        The same Israel AIPAC has hijacked our government, NEOCONS, and lobbyist money to corrupt our decision making to keep Israel secure and our nation be damned.
        Radical Islam the greatest threat? You damn skippie! NEOCONS will keep it that that way.
        Will they ever think of deporting at least half of the Arabs that are here illegally? No, nor will they do anything about the porous border because they are cowards and that is a part of the genocidal plan for us common folk.
        Go ahead and laugh but look it up…one day you will realize and probably way too late. Hell, it may be too late now. Pray that it isn’t!

    Mr.Stevens was not an ambassador. He was assigned to track down arms stolen from the U.S. in Libyia during the regime change. BUT, this current administration WANTED the terrorists to keep their ill-gotten arms, SO they LEAKED Mr. Stevens location and itinerary. Thus, the clumsy cover-up and lies.

    This administration has a proven track record of military leaks. Remember this isn’t the first operative they outed, and don’t forget how Iran mysteriously got one of or drones, intact.

      Stevens “not an ambassador”? “Obama wanted the rebels to keep their weapons yet hired Stevens to take them away”. That is so contradictory so could you clarify. Another thing is that Embassies and Consulates are fairly well known so why would their location have to be “leaked out”. You make little sense BetsyB!

    At some point I hope that mainstream America will realize that Radical Islam is the most pressing, immediate, danger to our security! This situation must be handled swiftly and efficiently. While it’s not WWIII, nor are they are major long term threat, they may just be the spark in the kindling that will ignite the blase that will become WWIII!
    What I find most unsettling is the fact that the countries with leaders that are amoung the most ‘intellectually challenged’, IE: Ahmadinejad, & Kim Jung-un, are also the ones making a dramatic attempt to become Nuclear Nations!
    I still believe that our serious long term threat is China! They seem to think the same thing, given that they have increased their Military Budget by 400% over the past decade.The most disturbing aspect of this is the fact that WE are, largely, financing this build-up! Our interest payments on our debt to China, accounts for between 75% & 85% of their costs!

    I believe Obama will give a full and complete answer to the GOP’s question as soon as he admits that he was born in Kenya, is a Muslim, and not qualified to be president.

      I agree with you 100%. There is so much proof out there that he is not born here and his birth certificate was forged. He is also currently using a false SSN from someone who was born in the 1800′s.

        If the birth certificate is real, his father was never a US citizen and he is therefore not “natural born” and is therefore not eligible for president. If the birth certificate is fake (which is almost certainly true) then he lied about his eligibility which should make him ineligible for president. Who his father is primarily determines whether he is eligible for president. Until recently, “natural born” always meant the son/daughter of an american citizen mother and an american citizen father. If you read the constitution carefully, all positions except president and vp require only that the candidate be a citizen. President and VP require the candidate to be a natural born citizen. They are different. Our founders were meticulous and the words were carefully chosen. They were worried about influence from foreign countries so they didn’t want anyone with close ties to another country that might make the person act on behalf of the foreign nation. This is what is happening now.
