We All Belong To The Government?

The Democratic National Convention kicked off with a video meant to unite all Americans. The production claims that “Government is the only thing we all belong to.”
The Mitt Romney campaign seized the opportunity and tweeted, “We don’t belong to government, government belongs to us.”
Despite the video playing at the DNC, the Barack Obama-Joe Biden campaign quickly pointed out that the video was not produced by the DNC, but rather the host committee.
“The video in question was produced and paid for by the host committee of the city of Charlotte. It’s neither an OFA nor a DNC video, despite what the Romney campaign is claiming,” said the Obama campaign.
Dan Murrey, executive director of the host committee, backed up the DNC’s claim:
The “Welcome to Charlotte” video was solely produced and paid for by the Host Committee’s New American City Fund, which promotes the city of Charlotte and welcomes our guests. The intent of this video was to tell the story of this region and it is completely unaffiliated with the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee.
