The Sad Story of Senator Slander

August 7, 2012 by

The Sad Story of Senator Slander
UPI FILE
Last Tuesday, Reid took an unsubstantiated shot at Mitt Romney.

There are moments—albeit fleeting—during which I find myself feeling almost badly for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. After all, Reid has risen near the pinnacle of Democratic Party politics.

He is, given President Barack Obama’s disastrous reign and House Minority Leader Pelosi’s 2010 implosion, likely the most powerful Democrat in Washington. And yet, we only hear from or about him when he does something uncommonly stupid. Most Americans probably think he’s that crabby old guy who carries Nancy Pelosi’s purse around. It’s no stretch to imagine him sitting in a rocking chair on the steps of the Capitol shouting at passersby to get off his lawn.

However, my sympathies for the Sage of the Silver State are short lived. I don’t despise Reid because of his supercilious simpering. Nor do I abhor him because he whines incessantly about the supposed evils of his political enemies—all the while maintaining a privileged existence based on corruption appalling even by the depressingly low standards of Washington, D.C.

Reid has been linked to disgraced fundraiser Jack Abramoff, participated in nepotism-related scandals which are frowned upon everywhere west of the Kennedy compound, and even pushed for a taxpayer-funded “green” high-speed rail system which would directly financially benefit his cronies and him while providing a “vital” rail link between Las Vegas and that heart of West Coast travel and tourism: Victorville, Calif.

I expect nothing better from Reid. I expect nothing better from virtually every one of the jacklegs and circus barkers who infest the halls of national power. But I would rather appreciate it if Reid stuck to the liberal trifecta: greed, graft and hypocrisy. Instead, Reid has once again stuck his glowering mug into the main event; attacking the tone of the national discourse like a cinematic axe-murderer at a camp for wayward teenagers in small clothing.

Last Tuesday, Reid—no stranger to scandals himself—took an unsubstantiated shot at presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney: “He didn’t pay taxes for 10 years!” Clearly, this represents a continuation of the Obama campaign strategy of demanding a gander at Romney’s tax returns. However, Reid failed to pull the proverbial handbrake in time; stepping past peeking at tax returns and rolling right into falsely accusing Romney of a felony.

Despite touching off a firestorm of deserved criticism from parties as disparate as John Stewart and yours truly, Reid doubled down on his errant tack, repeating the baseless charges on the Senate floor; thereby taking somewhat more run-of-the-mill slander and reading it into the Congressional Record. Reid has defended his defamation by claiming that “The burden should be on (Romney). He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes.” As the new gag which will likely define Reid’s career goes: the burden should be on Harry Reid. He’s the one I’ve alleged rode shotgun for the Manson Family.

I have no idea what Mitt Romney’s tax returns look like. I feel confident that they look nothing like mine. He’s an enormously wealthy man with an established record of wise business decisions. Given Reid’s own extraordinary wealth, I suspect his own tax returns also feature some rather impressive arithmetic. And we know that Obama’s tax returns have grown in size in the last few years—he’s now worth an estimated $12 million; despite never holding down a private sector job.

An impressively self-important, hyper-liberal white guy slandered an impressively self-important, somewhat-liberal white guy on behalf of an impressively self-important, hyper-liberal somewhat-white guy. Two of the three are living examples of how shallow the political pool has become of late. The third is a moderate Republican; which makes him just another mealy-mouthed, fence-sitting electoral opportunist. Unfortunately, in the current environment, that also makes him a veritable Winston Churchill when compared to the former pair.

It’s indeed a sad saga which concludes with Americans considering which candidate is the least stomach-churningly awful. I suppose Reid deserves some credit for making the choice easier for a great many people; albeit not in the direction he probably hoped. I’m still not sold on Romney. But I am certain that I want nothing to do with Harry Reid, Barack Obama and the rest of the twisted cabal which has turned the Democratic Party into a rogue’s gallery right out of a b-grade mafia film. Actually, I heard Harry Reid really was in the mafia. The burden is on him to disprove it.

Unfortunately for the Republirat Establishment there may well be substance to Reid’s calumny’s in that I expect the NYT or the Washington Post to post Romney’s tax returns sometime in September showing that he paid little or no taxes on a multimillion dollar fortune utilizing tax avoidance strategies available only to the super rich. If Romney is competitive his lead will vanish and if he is not he will not recover. Do not forget Obama’s rise was on the back of slander and defamatory allegations supposedly sealed by court order. The Republirats will nominate in Tampa their least electable candidate and the Chicago based Alinsky-Markist machine will easily crush him and we can all look forward to four more years of Marxist chaos. We have three weeks left to dump Romney and nominate Ron Paul. Its our only hope. Romney’s hopeless ambition will result in our destruction. Of course, this was how it was planned by the elites from the beginning.

    • http://www.facebook.com/norm1000 Norman Payne

You make a lot of sense unfortunately I am afraid it will not matter. I also do not understand Americans for holding it against Romney for being Smart in Financial affairs, but they seem to prefer financial Idiots like obama the guy continuously spends more than he takes in. We need a President that understands how to balance a checkbook and the importance of doing so.

      • http://www.facebook.com/norm1000 Norman Payne

I would certainly prefer Ron Paul but everyone knows its a choice between Romney and obama

      • APN

I agree, we had better candidates but Romney is the ticket and will get my vote. He is head and shoulders more capable to fix this marxist-progressive mess than ODUMBO.

        THAT SIMPLE!!!

If we can get ODUMBO out, then we may have a chance of getting the country back on the right track. We are focusing our efforts at the grassroots LOCAL levels of Government and once we have replaced all the demorats/socialist thugs and Rinos then we will choose from those left over to send to Washington to hold President Romney’s feet to the fire.

As in balanced budgets and a MAJOR reduction in the size and scope of Washington DC.
Constitutional governance is a MUST for this country to survive. It can happen and WILL happen. This November will be the biggest landslide victory in history and will make 2010 look like a cakewalk.

  • Sirian

The largest thing about Reid that I have yet been able to understand is this – how and why did the people of Nevada foolishly re-elect him? Even more so, will they be just as foolish next time around?

  • http://yahoo charles

Why isnt reid talking about the past 5 and a half yrs from 2007 when they took both houses not submitting a budget and this horrible administration, all of the decisions that were made on green energy, something about 20 billion gone, fast and furious, all the vacations, hiring of the czars, cramming the health bill down our throats ,chicago style.

  • R.Marcel Comtois

Do you think they just want to show how much money he’s made? and then put him down on that account?……..they just want to try and catch him on something….I don’t blame Romney for not wanting to share his returns with the world……it’s not anybody else’s business not even mine………….and as BFD said look at that group in our White House now…….just a bunch of crooks and power hungry people……….

    • Flashy

“it’s not anybody else’s business not even mine”

The guy is the GOP nominee for President. It IS our business. As his father stated…the People have a right to know who they are voting for and what they are voiting for. the ‘vetting’ of Romney during the primaries was atrocious. Says a lot about the mentality and intelligence of the GOP primary voter…a lot. Not much as a positive ‘lot” either…

      • Ted Crawford

I think that you will find that most Americans are far, far less concerned with Romneys financial status than we are with our own and with that of our Nation!
We’ve experienced the after effects of the current, tax and spend, borrow and spend, spend and spend administration! four straight years of Trillion Dollar plus deficits (Obama was the first President to ever have a Trillion dollar deficit, to prove it wasn’t a fluke he created three more in a row! ! ), 42 straight months of 8+% unemployment, first ever credit rating downgrade, ETC. , ETC.!

      • Brad

Flashy you are talking out the side of your neck, your N____R in the WH wasn’t vetted at all. Talk about a crook along with all the Dems in office. A bunch of political terrorist!!

      • APN

Very well said Ted! Flashy must live on Mars and frequents this blog via solar flares.

He said: the ‘vetting’ of Romney during the primaries was atrocious.

LMAO! Only a prog would have the audacity to make such a foolish comment. Romney was born here, made his wealth here, legally I might add, is a former Governor, successfully SAVED the Olympics from complete financial disaster and has been running for President for about 6 years now!!!! What is it about this man that you don’t understand or are you just that plain stupid?

Now, in contrast, the vetting of ODUMBO was in fact atrocious. A large part of the voters in this country voted for someone that they knew NOTHING about other than he was a African-American. I had numerous people tell me they voted for him just because he was black!!! Now, given the aforesaid, who is stupid???

Heck, we can’t even get a copy of his college transcripts much less a legitimate birth certificate. Who do you think your are kidding Flashy? VET my BUTT, LMAO!

      • Rick Caston

Frankly Flashy, I am very excited about the prospect of having a VERY SUCCESSFUL and wealthy entrepreneur and businessman running this country verses the virtual unknown, come out of nowhere, “Frank” trained communist we have now. Every move Obama makes is designed to make it harder to succeed in America. And that my friend is by design. Romney believes in the free enterprise system and understands that business is the engine that powers America. Obama has strangled business to death by his massive interference and regulations. And the idiot wonders why no jobs are being created. IT IS BY DESIGN. His plan depends on a massive welfare state and massive government with massive taxes for those that actually work to support it. Personally, once he loses, I would run his a** out of the country.

      • michael

Hey Flashy, did Obama show his tax records for ten years or anything at all of his “real” existance when he ran for president ? His entire past is shrouded in mystery. Maybe in 50 years when the time capsul is opened according to law then those of us who are still alive will finally know the truth. Well maybe only if it doesnt get covered up before it gets sealed. You should read “The amateur” which is true non-fiction about who Obama really is. Anyway lets stick to the real issues here and dont vote for the wrong man and I certainly know who that is !!!!!

      • michiganminuteman

It is also our bussiness to know all the bloody little details about Fast & Furious! Hey buddy, when we gonna go have that beer?

  • Smitty

If proof of anything is being requested, let’s see where Obama got his monetary backing to run for president initially. I’ve seen this subject mentioned many times, but no one ever seems to get that answered.

  • Big Al

Absolutely hilarious. Well said Ben Crystal. I literally lol.

  • BFD in BB, DE

Great wit and wisdom, Ben. Mr. Reid, Obama, Holder, etc. should all be in jail. If I were Romney, I would spend some of my riches to remove Harry’s wealth for slandering the Romney name, as well as discracing his office (further). Romney should get off of the fence and get this country on the RIGHT track. By the way, I heard someone the other day say Harry is an in-bred, cross-dressing, shop-lifting, crack head that would do ANYTHING for a little crumb….it must be true because someone said so……

  • Robert Berger

You mean only liberal democratcs in Washington are guilty of corruption , and all the republicans are such paragons of virtue, above reproach and squeaky clean ? Don’t make me die laughing ! The republicans are at ;east of guilty of corruption as the democrats ! Possibly even more so .
And don’t think the repubugnicans in Washington are sexually and morally upright, either. They blather about “traditional values” and “family values”, yet many are serial adulterers, have fathered illegitimate children, frequent call girls and have had sex with underraged teenagers ,male and female.
And more of a few of those who fulminate against homosexuals and homosexuality are closeted gays themselves., which shows that they just pay cynical lip service to the religious right and conservative voters to gain power, favor and influence .

    • Ted Crawford

Thank You Comrade ! Your Uncle Saul is very proud of you today!

    • Brad

Just more BS from the leftist when the have nothing better to say, Prove it RB!!!

      • APN

Exactly! Just another loose lip liberal who thinks if something “FEELS” right then that makes it right. No substance whatsoever with no facts to back up their statements. Reid is a prime example of progressive stupidity and we wonder why this nation is in the shape it’s in? Beam me up!

Bottom line, they assume much and understand very little and are totally incapable of any rational logical thinking process much less understanding and stating the truth about something.

  • DaveO

Romney should call Reid out on the so called vetting of obama, the lies, the coverup, etc., etc. When obamas records are open then I’ll open my tax returns, till then shut up Harry, your the law breaker.

  • BarbaraJ Greives

Methinks all is not well in obamaland! They are trying every wicked trick in their proverbial book to keep in power so they can get further into your pockets! Romney provided, as required by law, his two (I repeat according to the law) two tax returns. If Reid and Odumbass want to see Romney’s other tax returns, why aren’t they showing theirs as a good faith exchange? With Reid being in the mob’s and Odumbass’ pockets, I wonder if he would have guts enough to show us his and his bank statements for the past ten years while he is at it! What say we all request his info with faxes and letters to our senators! It is a game of “Put up or Shut up!”.

  • Fiesty

I don’t understand why no one has mentioned the Senate’s unbalanced budget for the past 4 years!!

    • Ted Crawford

Perhaps a better discription would be, the NONEXISTANT budgets for four years ! Harry has failed ( in violation to Constitutional mandate) to pass a single budget in four years. In fact he woun’t even allow the four budgets passed by the House to come to the floor for discusion ! In addition he has passed only two appropiations bills ( Defence and Disaster relief), besides all the Continuing resolutions and continuing appropiations ! There are currently 7 appropiations bills gathering dust on his desk, along with hundreds of other bills, 30+ of which are jobs bills, also gathering dust !
Harry is a complete failure as Senate Majority Leader !

    • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

We are talking about Romney tax record. You had all year to talk about the budget and we will address it another time. One thing at a time . Right now we are singularly focused on Romney’s tax return and will be until he release them. Cant stand the wait , the suspense is killing me. I want to see what Romney has been hiding for ten years,

      • michiganminuteman

Lets see what eric Holder and oblama are hiding under that Executive Privlage order on FAST & FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!! Now that is something important! Anybody agree?

  • B rian

Why would anyone want larger government? Really! Why would people want someone that is elected to represent them….. Rule them! Its so idiotic! Do democrats need a sheep herder?

Then looking at Reid…… He’s such a drama queen! And somehow he a leader…..! Unsubstantiated drama he’s throwing out there…..

    • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

This is one drama queen I love. Give them hell Harry

  • tim

Whorehouse harry, where did you get your’e money. Gee, could it be when you were involved in the gaming commission! Could it be the paper bags from the whorehouses???? Could it be the reason the federal govt owns 85% of nevada’s land, so you can scarf it up at will and make a land deal> Come on harry, where’d you get your’e money. How bout that last real estate deal you pulled off!!! If washington wasn’t so corrupt they would be investigating you harry ried!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

Tiny Tim , you are pathetic trying to attack dear old Harry a true patriot who serves his country with honor and sounds the warning alarm in regards to a true charlatan and con man trying to hood wink his way to the highest office,

      • momo

Take your meds Delroy, obviously you’re delusional.

      • JUKEBOX

Why didn’t Harry blow the whistle on the charlatan that occupies the Presidency today? Answer: that’s where some of Obama’s $4mil went.

      • michiganminuteman

Delroy ……..is this what you call sarcasm?

  • John Frame

The proof is in the fact that for over 10 years, the IRS has not come after Romney, nor has the “source” turned him in for the sizable IRS “finders fee” nor has Dirty Harry turned any information over to the IRS. The proof is simple, look to the tax collector, he’s not upset!

    • A DeRosa

If Mitt’s returns were examined by in the 2008 VP vetting, then they had to have been filed. Why isn’t John Mc Cain calling out Reid and stating he saw the returns and they looked okay or at least filed.

      • Flashy

        Excellent point

      • George E

If there’s anything wrong with Romney’s tax returns, why isn’t the IRS calling him out? The fact that they haven’t tells me there’s nothing wrong. If Reid has evidence that something is wrong with Romney’s tax returns, why doesn’t he call it to the IRS’ attention rather than making unsubstantiated and undignified allegations on the Senate floor? Smells like politics to me.

      • APN

I agree George, smells like progressive do-do to me.

      • Jeff

Excellent observation. The Republicans act like Reid is accusing Romney of committing a felony. He is not and that is the whole point. While Romney’s tax returns may follow the law, the larger question is whether such treatment of huge income should be legal. Bear in mind, Romney and Bain’s lobbyists played a huge role in writing the current tax laws with respect to carried interest, so Romney’s protestations “I just follow the law” ring a bit hollow.

Clearly, John McCain cannot release Romney’s tax returns without the express authority of Romney. However, it seems to me that as a person of great credibility, he could comment on what he’s seen and say yes, Romney has paid at least X in every year. I don’t know if even that disclosure might violate whatever agreement his campaign in 2008 made with Romney, but it is an interesting point.

      • michiganminuteman

I voted for Mccain in 2008, only because I knew oblama was real trouble and a very dangerous man. Having said that…….MCCAIN IS A JOKE AND A RINO. I do respect him for his military service butt………..

“Actually, I heard Harry Reid really was in the mafia. The burden is on him to disprove it.”
Ben, I don’t think liberals are intelligent or sophisticated enough to comprehend, let alone appreciate, the sarcasm.
I don’t think Harry Reid is intelligent enough to have been in the Mafia–not even as a mule. He can’t seem to keep his mouth shut.

  • http://davestheology.wordpress.com davestheology

@Bob Freeman, I believe the correct word is “censured,” meaning [according to the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary, 10th Edition], “to criticize as blameworthy”–not “censored.” Of course it won’t happen with the Dems controlling the Senate. But everyone’s entitled to dream.

  • BARBARA

With Romney’s wealth, NOT paying taxes( as dirty harry is charging ) on his income would be filing and signing a tax return which is incorrect (cheating). Make no mistake about it harry was saying just that. The only people allowed to get away with cheating on their tax returns are Democrats. harry and the corrupt democrats (obama) just want to get their hands on Romney’s tax returns so they can pick it apart, spread more lies, use it to further slander him, since they have nothing else they can dig up, which is obama’s MO. Dirty lying harry not only SHOULD be hounded for his LIE, but should be run out of town. We are stuck with this slimball for a few more years but we CAN remove him from Majority Leader this November at the voting booth. That is of course if we can prevent THEM from CHEATING AGAIN. Norman, read your tax form at: SIGN HERE, it tells you want the penalty is for signing an incorrect tax return.

    • http://www.facebook.com/norm1000 Norman Payne

In 2009, six tax filers among the country’s 400 richest tax filers owed absolutely nothing in federal income taxes. [source: http://money.cnn.com/2012/06/07/pf/taxes/rich-who-owe-no-income-tax/index.htm
Another site you should look at: http://money.cnn.com/2011/05/09/pf/taxes/millionaires_income_tax/index.htm
In 2009, 1,470 people with incomes over $1 million a year paid absolutely no taxes.
Barbara my GUESS is reid firmly believes Romney pays a much lower percentage of his income than he wants to admit and he knows the only way Romney can disprove his{reid} accusations is to post his returns and that Romney fears hurts himself politically.
I personally think the Republicans should have tried to ignore this bait.

      • APN

Simple solution to all this……Romney did exactly what I would have done….PUT UP OR SHUT UP, Mr. Reid!

It’s time to get very DIRECT with these little silly slimes that do nothing but divide our fellow Americans in their quest to destroy our personal liberties and freedoms.

    • Brad

Barbara it also says it is a voluntary report, but once you sign it it is no longer voluntary.

  • dunce

A prostitute trades their virtue for money, Reid made a great deal as he has no virtue, he got money for nothing but he has been doing that for years except he delivered an intangible, his vote. How else do you get to be a multi millionaire on a govt. salary?

    • APN

That is an excellent question that needs to be addressed. Just how did Reid get his Millions? Let’s demand to see his tax returns! I wonder if he has any offshore investments??

      • Vigilant

…or ever engaged in insider trading.

      • APN

        Yep!

      • JUKEBOX

It is my understanding that he made his wealth through shady real estate deals in Las Vegas.

    • Flashy

I would think if Reid’s constituents were demanding..or his opponent in any election released theirs and said ‘match up Sen Reid”, then it would be an issue for him to face. Romney is not running for a local race, his is national. And overall, there’s more than a few who are asking Mitt what’s up? What is he so hesitant about if he has nothing to hide? …

Until Reid runs for an office which affects me, i haven’t any say in the matter.

Mitt is running for an office i will vote on.

      • George E

        Flashy,

You guys take the cake. Throw an unsubstantiated allegation out there and then demand the person accused to prove the allegation is not true. I don’t doubt Romney can prove there’s no problem with his tax returns, but let’s face it, you guys plan to continue throwing other such allegations at him until either one sticks or you “convince” the public that there must be some truth to them, otherwise, why would there be so many allegations, right? Either way, if Romney plays this game, Obama will win. Right now, it’s all deception to fool the public, isn’t it? Well, let me tell you. This game can be played both ways, and probably will if Obama continues down this path, and since it’s been Obama that’s been hiding his records, I wouldn’t think that this would be a good campaign strategy for Obama.

      • michiganminuteman

What is Eric Holder and oblama hiding under that Executive Privelage order on the Fast and Furious investigation? Humm………….maybe a little blood on their hands? Humm?

    • momo

Yeah, but your going to enjoy the hooker much more than dealing with Reid and company.

    • Jeff

      Dunce:

Finally, an appropriate name. Harry Reid was a successful attorney before he ran for Congress. He made money in real estate. Could any of his business dealings be a bit shady? Of course. Could anyone’s? Of course. I know you have no proof or even real suspicion of any such thing because you’re too lazy to even do basic research before posting your nonsense.

  • Mountain Saint

Reid is jealous that he won’t be the one to ride the White Horse of Joseph Smith’s prophecy and save our Constitution. A fellow Socialist, Mtt Romney, will do the job and transform America into a Mormon paradise, like in Utah or is it, Cuba.

    • riedjacobsen

Sorry if my name is a bit confusingly similar to the Senator’s name. Not that I like Mitt, but I would be interested in what is in Obama’s college records that have caused his campaign to spend millions to keep them sealed for all these years.

    • Joey Biden

I would much prefer a Mormon Paradise over Kenyan Koncentration Kamp.

  • Ried

Mitt should offer to open up and release the last 20 years of his tax returns if Barry will open up and release 20 years of college and university transcripts.

    • Paul Wells

Amen, Ried. And what do you suppose the chances of that is, given that ‘Flex’ Obama spent nearly a million dollars to seal all conceivable records of his existence on the planet. Just exactly what does Flex have to hide?

    • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

Don’t change the subject Obama has already being vetted, He is president . Everything to be known about him has already being unearthed by the right wing news media.Nobody is asking for Romney’s school record, it is irrelevant. They always look at your taxes to see how you have made your money and to tell whether you have you lied to the IRS. Mr Romney sure acts like he has something to hide. You can’t seek to be commander in chief of the military ready to send peoples kids into war and bomb Iran, while you whine like a girl behind your wife about your fear of what your opponent will say about you if you reveal your taxes. Grow a pair, rumble old man rumble. Your message should be enough if you had one. Get one , put it forward , defend it and your record and america will decide. Don’t try to lie your way to the top by running ADs criticizing and distorting president Obama’s record and word. Talk about Bain your job creation record there you claim qualifies you to be president.Lets talk about out sourcing and bankruptcy. Lets talk about your stewardship as governor, lets talk about Romney care and compare and contrast it with Obama care.

    • JUKEBOX

That will happen when the Pope becomes a Muslim.

  • Bob Freeman

Third Party hearsay is dangerous in politics, generally used to cause misdirection and is intended to damage a person’s reputation
My question is why Reid not being Censored on the Senate Floor for his comments.
They have Censored other politicians for less, or why shouldn’t the Republicans bring forth a Bill that would make members in both the House and Senate responsible for slander, especially on the House and Senate floors?

    • http://AOL Gerald Midkiff

I believe the Senate is essentially closed because the senators are on 5-week vacation.

    • Flashy

What did Reid say that is censurable? he has it from a solid source Romney paid no taxes for years, has gadzillions in off shore accounts to avoid taxes, etc.

As for citing his source? You know the moment he does, the guy is toast. If Romney says Reid is lying…it’s provable Reid is lying. All Romney has to do is release his returns for the past 7 years. And that would not look good on Pres. Obama if Reid is wrong as Romney is claiming.

Romney is being giving the shot to take down Obama a notch or two. The polls show it’s critical he slow down the Obama momentum. So why isn’t Romney taking this opportunity?

      Think about that.

      • Karen

Reid is a certifiable nut case….along with those who worship the hallowed ground he walks on….dems are a bunch of big cry babies and thrive on running campaigns that confuse the real issues…..let s keep our eye on the ball….who will best represent the American people? Obama is clearly not the man.

      • APN

Well said Karen! Flashy is your typical prog that spends the vast amount of his/her very limited brainpower focusing on what other people have. Envy, greed, slander, etc are all these people have anymore.

I’m certainly focused on the issues and every ADULT I know is certainly focused on the serious issues at hand and have ZERO interest in Romney’s wealth or how much taxes he has paid over the years.

Reid is a disgrace to the Senate and should be seriously reprimanded for his foolish slanderous comments on the senate floor. I don’t think WE THE PEOPLE should be paying for such foolish behavior, do you?

Bottom line, Reid acts like a schoolyard little sissy running around the playground spewing gossip. PATHETIC!

        Beam me up!

      • Chester

Flashy, you know, funny thing is you are right in saying this is easily disprovable, IF it IS disprovable. I hear a lot of people on here griping about Reid, and about you, but not a one of them is asking their well-beloved favorite son to show anything other than more of how much money he has and how little the rest of us deserve. Friends you prove nothing by calling the accuser names for having the juevos to make the accusation other than that you may be afraid he is right.

      • http://madgorilla.wordpress.com madgorilla

The burden of proof is on REID, not on Romney. Reid made the accusation, so it is up to him to provide the proof. This is a common tactic in debates. Make an accusation against your opponent, and demand that he prove it false. It doesn’t matter what you answer because it makes you look wrong no matter what you say. The best defense is to not reply to such accusations at all. Stay quiet, but start a similar rumor about the other guy from a back channel. Romney could destroy Harry Reid if he wanted to. Reid is too damn stupid to realize that. He thinks the White House has his back, but they’d throw him under a bus in a heartbeat if he suddenly became toxic.

      • Vigilant

Flashy, your pants must be on fire. Kindly tell us all what imaginary friend is Reid’s “solid” source.

      • APN

Chester said: Friends you prove nothing by calling the accuser names for having the juevos to make the accusation other than that you may be afraid he is right.

Chester, we DON’T CARE!!!! Get it!?!

and who said Silly Sissy Reid had Balls? He’s just a foolish little boy trapped in an old man’s body, that simple. He is best on playing the foolish mindset of progressives, not libertarians or conservatives. We have a sight on the GOAL of cleaning up this progressive mess and you, Flashy, Reid, Pelosi or ODUMBO will not change that fact.

Time to let we adults get this mess cleaned up and Romney’s tax returns are his business not ours.

Keep worrying about what someone else has long enough and you my friend will end up with nothing as a direct result of your foolish envy and hatred for your fellow man.

JUNK! That’s all this is! PROGRESSIVE JUNK and it’s getting REAL old, quickly!

Now, you got anything of any substance you want to talk about? job creation, FREEDOM from Government, personal liberties, etc etc etc

Flashy says: The polls show it’s critical he slow down the Obama momentum.

What momentum? The polls show its a dead heat, and Obama is getting his a$$ handed to him when it comes to fundraising, he’s sending out fund raising letters begging for money.

And remember, as James Carrville so eloquently put it: “It’s the economy stupid.” And it’s Obama’s to defend, he can’t blame Bush this time around.

      • JUKEBOX

When people like Reid are committing political suicide, don’t take the gun away from them.

    • Jeff

Slander? Truth is an absolute defense to slander. How to establish whether Reid spoke the truth? Let’s see, there’s got to be a way. With all the brain power on this blog, surely someone can come up with a way. Trial by ordeal, maybe?

      • phideaux

“Let’s see, there’s got to be a way. With all the brain power on this blog, surely someone can come up with a way.”

Quite simple little Jeffy boy Reid should produce the evidence or shut up.

      • Jeff

        Fido:

Come boy. Fetch the answer. If Harry Reid were to give up a name, would that really mean anything? We still wouldn’t know if that person was speaking the truth. The only proof consists of the returns themselves.

The only reason this story has legs is people are predisposed to seriously consider that Romney, in spite of his millions in income, is the kind of guy who might just avoid paying taxes.

If Harry Reid had said he heard from someone that Romney has had sex with Rafalca, would anyone take it seriously? NO, because nothing in Romney’s past would indicate any likelihood he would do such a thing.

      • http://richpublicityservices.wordpress.com richpublicityservices

No, Jeff, the problem isn’t merely that Harry Reid is a lower life form, it’s also that the liberal media hasn’t taken him to task for this – why because the liberal media is more interested in supporting Obama than supporting their own credibility. Frankly, until I hear you unequivocally put at least equal pressure on Obama to come clean with his academic records, you have no more credibility in my eyes than the media.

      • Jeff

Who cares about Obama’s academic records. He’s 51 years old and has been in public life long enough to be judged by that. Did we see W’s records? How did he get into Yale? Did we see the memo saying “Bonzo is applying and we have to let him in or Poppy will pull the plug?” Did we see how he flunked Freshman English? Or how his history professor passed him despite obvious learning deficiencies, like the paper he wrote about Viet Nam talking about our glorious victory.

Don’t you think if there were any truth to the scurrilous rumors you guys have been cooking up about Obama being foreign that something would have surfaced by now – in a real newspaper?

      • George E

        Jeff,

Everyone who pays income tax takes all of the deductions that are allowed under the law. Most people don’t consider this as avoidance of paying taxes. Avoidance is generally considered doing illegal things, and as we’ve already agreed, Romney probably hasn’t done anything illegal or the IRS would be all over him.

      • Jeff

        George:

The issue is not one of legality. And we’re not talking about normal deductions. How do you amass up to $100,000,000 in an IRA? Doesn’t that mean he made that money and hasn’t paid tax on it?

Plus, Bain hired lobbyists who wrote the tax laws on carried interest. So, when Romney claims he just follows the law, he’s not so pure. He paid good money to have the law set up to benefit him. And that’s a big issue in this campaign. His tax proposals are designed to benefit him.

If the majority of people didn’t think that maybe Romney pulls some slick maneuvers in his tax returns, would we even be having this discussion? If Harry Reid said he heard Romney was a drunk and a wife beater, would the story have legs? Of course not because he’s never given us any reason to believe such things about him.

      • George E

        Jeff,

As I stated in another post, the money in a traditional IRA is not taxed until distributions are taken. There are no rules on how much money you can make in your IRA, only limits on how much you can contribute to it. I don’t know what Romney invested his IRA funds in, but obviously he got an exceptional return, which as far as we’re concerned, was legal. Again, if it wasn’t, you can bet the IRS would be all over him. Romney’s tax returns will not have any detail regarding his IRA fund investments, so if that’s what you want to see, you need to take another path.

Really, Jeff, you and I know very well this is not about Romney’s tax return. You guys are trying to make a political issue over this to distract voters away from the pitiful economy, isn’t it?

As far as Obama’s college records are concerned, we care. Maybe you don’t, but we do. Who knows what we might be able to find out if we look very closely that might interest the voters in November? We recently learned he was an acknowledged socialist, and drug user. I wonder if we’ll also find out he was a foreign exchange student here on a foreign visa? Do you think if we find out Obama is not a registered American citizen that this might be of interest to the voters? As I said before, you can demand all of the records you want from Romney, but this road goes both ways, and Obama has been hiding a lot of his past, so taking this path might not be such a good strategy for Obama after all.

      • Jeff

Of course it’s about his tax returns. He’s claiming he should be president because of his business experience. Yet, he doesn’t want to say anything about anything he did at Bain except that he was successful. We already know that. How did he get successful? What laws were used or bent in that success? His tax returns will shed more light on his character than anything else. So will his failure to release them.

As for Obama, you guys have been on this birth certificate thing for 4 years and have come up with bupkus. You’ve got Donald Trump with all his resources and he can’t come up with anything concrete. Even Rep. King (of the Birthers) admitted it doesn’t look good for those trying to disqualify Obama. George, you seem like a reasonable fellow. I get that you’re a Republican and we’ll disagree about things. But really, these Birthers are all about demonizing the man. He’s foreign, he’s Muslim, he’s trying to destroy the Country, blah, blah, blah.

      • George E

Thanks, Jeff. I try to be reasonable. I feel like I’m an American first, then conservative, and finally Republican. I’m more conservative than I am Republican, but since they are the only major party willing to carry that banner, I have to side with them. Life’s not simple, but here it is…………..ha. I’m sure you have some of the same conflicts yourself.

I think I understand some of your frustrations about conservatives and libertarians. I don’t always think they behave in the most agreeable manner either, but let’s face it, compared to many of the liberals I hear speak, they’re not much worse, if any. When it comes to politics, the room is full of emotions, and that sometimes gets in the way of finding compromises that we can all live with. Frankly, we don’t think Obama compromised much with conservatives, especially in his first 2 years when he had majorities in both houses of Congress. That hasn’t set well with Conservatives, and if Republicans win the Presidency and Congress in November, they may remember that when “compromising” with liberals. As some say, “what goes around, comes around.” At some point, we really need to get back to basics and find ways to get some critical business done that a strong majority of the country can accept. No less important, we must get our priorities figured out, because we’re quickly running out of time and options. I think most conservatives and libertarians think fixing our economy, reducing the federal deficit and debt is the most important and pressing issue before us. If we don’t get this done, we obviously won’t have the resources to address any other issue.

You seem to wonder why conservatives don’t work with Obama better than they do. Maybe I can shed some light on it for you. We have long suspected Obama did some things to get into the office of President that most people wouldn’t approve of. Our reasoning goes like this. In the past, anyone with his lack of experience, dubious background, and political associations would have never been seriously considered as the nominee of either of the major political parties. We think he might have been nominated by one of the small 3rd parties, like the Socialist Democratic Party, but that’s about as far as he would have gotten. It just doesn’t add up to us, and this leads to many of the allegations you hear, like he’s not a naturalized American citizen, etc. It frustrates us that we have to deal with someone like Obama with his “socialist” (and I’ll add anti-Christian) views and dogged determination to force them on the rest of us, especially at this time in our history when that’s the last thing, in our opinion, that’s going to help this country dig out of the very real problems we have before us. We’re afraid that we’ll wake up one day, possibly years from now, and find out how we got dupped by a liberal marketing machine, only to find out there really wasn’t anything in his suit, or worse yet, he turns out to be a communist plant. I know this sounds crazy to you, but this is pretty close to how many conservatives and libertarians think of Obama. We need this situation to go away, either by Obama meeting us in the middle, which he has shown little interest in doing, or getting someone else in the office.

I hope this hasn’t offended you, but rather added to your understanding of how we see the world. Thanks.

      • michiganminuteman

        Jeffy,
I know! Mitt should make a deal with oblama that would require Mitt to reveal 10 years of his tax records if oblama resends his Executive Privlage protecting Eric Holder and his oun arse in regard to the Fast & Furious investigation. What do you think about that Jeffy.

Hey I think I would like to go have a beer with you too. Flashy said he would drive!

    • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

Like they censored Michelle Bachmann for her slanderous comment linking Mrs Weiner to terrorist. How about Mr West contention that 80% of democrat are communists. If we began to censor congressmen for their view the entire republican party would be censored for their slander of the president. You sir is a hypocrite as you have not rebuked
these people. Harry is doing a patriotic thing it is a shame they aren’t more like him willing to stand up and speak out. I call on to John McCain whom Mitt gave 23 years of returns. Mr McCain took one look at the record and declare Sarah Palin the most qualified candidate. I would rather see Palin than Romney. The guy is a fraud.

      • A DeRosa

well like all libs you are contradicting yourself harry said he heard mitt hasn’t filed returns and then you say mc cain has all those years of returns when he selected palin which is it?

“. However, Reid failed to pull the proverbial handbrake in time; stepping past peeking at tax returns and rolling right into falsely accusing Romney of a felony.”
Let me make one thing clear I dislike reid with a passion but what felony did he accuse Romney of? I do not believe not paying any taxes is a crime as long as he filed a properly filled out tax return.{did I miss reid accusing Romney of NOT filing his taxes?} Using our screwed up tax code many wealthy and not so wealthy people legally pay nothing or very little.
To me hounding reid on this destroys credibility.

    • http://madgorilla.wordpress.com madgorilla

Reid accused Romney of not filing. That is against the law if you owe taxes. Reid should be intimately familiar with things like that. He’s so crooked and corrupt and mobbed up, I’m surprised he can even stand up straight. He’s just a mean, nasty, envious little old man who can’t keep from sniping at his betters.

      • http://www.facebook.com/norm1000 Norman Payne

Please show me the quote that says reid says Romney did NOT file his tax return.

      • Patsy

Wasn’t Reid one of the people who helped get Timothy Geitner appointed secretary of the treasury? We know he was a tax cheat and fraud, but was still appointed.

      • Flashy

Exactly what did Reid say about not filling? i don’t see it anywhere in Reids comments in the news nor in the CR.

My feeling is Romney doesn’t want to show he paid no taxes while having millions in income as well as the numerous off shore accts he has to avoid paying taxes.

it won’t look good as he demands lower rates for the wealthy, increased taxes on the Middle Class..and he’s earning millions paying a lower rate than the hard working American working man (woman). i think it will also show as he rails against ‘government’ assistance, he received millions in tax breaks, subsidies, and credits from those very areas he is railing against giving to the Middle Class…

He is dust if his numbers don’t turn before the debates.

      • http://madgorilla.wordpress.com madgorilla

The only way Romney could get away with no taxes is by not filing. His money is controlled by a blind trust that is required by law to file necessary paperwork if they want to stay in business. Therefore, Reid saying he paid no taxes is virtually the same as saying he didn’t file.

But even if he didn’t pay any tax, so what? If the trust followed all the rules, and complied with the law as written, that’s all that counts. All this crap from Reid and Obama and Pelosi is based on petty hatred and envy. Reid is a fine one to talk anyway. He’s been under a cloud for years concerning the sources of his income.

      • Rick Caston

        Reply to Flashy:

I dare say that I would have to question Romney’s fitness to be President more IF I found that he did NOT take every legal deduction he was entitled to. I would find that to be a sign of incompetence. Furthermore, if I found that he did not do his best to find places to invest his money that gave him the highest return with the least tax liability I would find that a sign of being incompetent as well and maybe a man that I would not trust with We The People’s money. But since we know that Romney is most likely under attack from the POS Reid because he IS competent and invests his money wisely, minimizing and even eliminating his tax liability, I believe Reid should STFU, get off of We The People’s senate floor, and keep his worthless drivel to himself. And you Flashy, should open your freaking eyes and look around you. If you can’t see the destruction Obama has caused to this country over the past 3 plus years then I suggest you turn off your computer, climb out of your Mother’s basement, get your head out from your rear end, and go outside and look around. The Republic is dying thanks to your Marxist In Chief.

      • Jeff

If that’s the case, then why not produce the tax returns?

      • Vigilant

Jeffy, A DeRosa already answered that above at 8:14 am.

There should an IQ test for posters on this site. That would automatically disqualify Jeffy, who never runs the risk of being accused of having smarts.

      • http://www.facebook.com/delroy.brown.90 Delroy Brown

Reid is not running for president. Romney is. Give them hell Harry.

      • George E

Sure, Harry should continue throwing unsubstantiated claims around. Remember, if Harry can do it, anyone can do it as well, and to anyone, maybe to your favorite candidate….

    • JUKEBOX

Marc Reich proved this , when he bilked the government out of $55 mil in taxes he owed, and Eric Holder pardoned him for it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dyatalese David Yatalese

Nancy Pelosi saw Reid’s double and raised a down by backing his baseless claim. Romney may be a “moderate” conservative but at this point anyone, ANYONE, would be better than letting these far-left criminals run this country.

    • Flashy

“took an unsubstantiated shot at presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney: “He didn’t pay taxes for 10 years!” Clearly, this represents a continuation of the Obama campaign strategy of demanding a gander at Romney’s tax returns. However, Reid failed to pull the proverbial handbrake in time; stepping past peeking at tax returns and rolling right into falsely accusing Romney of a felony.”

      1. i don’t recall hearing Reid ever accusing Romney of committing a felony. Did Ben just take an unsubstantiated (and provable) false shot at Reid?
      2. All Romney has to do is release a few years of tax returns. He thought McCain should see them before deciding Palin was a better VP candidate, his VP choice will be asked to release years of past returns, any cabinet choice will have to turn over at least the past five years taxes, and as Ben pointed out, President Obama’s returns are released for past years as well as present year.
      3. What is Romney not wanting us to see?

What Reid has done is masterful. He gave Pres Obama an early XMas present by keeping the debate on tax reform. The GOP tax plan is to increase taxes on the Middle Class and reduce their benefits, and decrease taxes on the wealthy and increase their benefits.

So all you “patriotic” hotshots…just exactly what would you cut as far as YOUR government benefits? Wipe out road and infrastructure maintenance and repair? Kill ag subsidies to the family farm while increasing those very same given to large corporate farms? Kill rural improvement districts? Wipe out the large number of health care benefits you’re now receiving via ObamaCare (and please, show you have an awareness..what of those bennies would you erase?)

Under this President, growth in federal spending is the lowest in the past 50 years. The number of public employees has decreased. There has been 30 straight months of job growth in the private sector.

      think about that.

And think about another fact. There are 47 gadzillionaires financing 60% of the funds spent on behalf of the GOP slate. 47. Y’all think those 47 have your interests in mind and they’re spending hundreds of millions for you?

What Flashy doesn’t know about the requirements for candidates would probably fill volumes and probably and entire wing of a Library . Until he is officially nominated as the candidate for the Republican Party , Romney is under no obligation to release anymore of his tax returns then he already has . Harry the Senile and the Botox Queen of California are just creating diversions to take the heat off the idiot in chief . Perhaps Harry and his Hag should release their tax returns and explain their ill gotten wealth . AAnd as for all the hew and cry about a few tax returns and the public should know , well the public should know about the POT head in chief as well . Let him open up his super secret 29 year collage records that he was so quick to have sealed . What does he have to be afraid of , bad grades ? Or perhaps that he attended Occidental and Columbia as an exchange student on the Government dole . And probably Harvard as well . And why is it that fellow students at Columbia inn the same graduating class and same major have no recollection of a Barry Obama or as he was called then Sotoro . Very odd , I recall most all of my class mates from my collage years , especially those in my graduating class and Major .

“He gave Pres Obama an early XMas present by keeping the debate on tax reform.”

Flush it Flash. It’s got nothing to do with tax reform and everything to do with Democrat dirty tricks.

Obama won’t be living in the Peoples’ House at Christmas, and Reid’s “present” is tantamount to Clark Griswold’s boss giving him a certificate to the “Jelly of the Month Club.”

Perhaps it was Obama he was talking about when he made the famous movie quote, “I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey [expletive deleted] he is! Flashy put the whipped cream down. Your posting starts of as ludicrous and gets worse. Last I heard not paying taxes was considered a felony. If I am wrong then we can empty some jail cells pretty quickly. After that you went downhill.
By the way you still in the running for press secretary? I don’t know how much longer this one Pbama has is going to last.

      • Jeff

The point is not whether Romney followed the letter of some very arcane tax law his lobbyists had a hand in drafting. The point is the fairness of a tax code that permits the wealthy to legally evade taxes. Just because something is legal does not make it right. The voters have a right to know who this guy is and nothing will tell us more than his tax returns. If he continues to withhold them, I hope he is severely punished for it in November.

      • Flashy

Daniel —> Last I heard not paying taxes was considered a felony

Well, guess you need to repeat third grade…again. If you don’t have “taxable income” any due to write offs, tax shelters, tax exempt bond holdings, paper losses from partnerships, etc, you don’t pay any taxes.

No one is accusing Reid of claiming Mitt did anything that was a felony….except the wacked out right who take offense that they should be able to have a lesser being in the WH than we have today.

      • momo

Flasher, obviously you have a problem with facts. Reid is accusing Mitt of tax evasion, by the way your boy Harry didn’t produce his tax returns the last election.

Flashy says: Under this President, growth in federal spending is the lowest in the past 50 years.

Really? The following is the budget as a percentage of GDP
        2008 20.8%
        2009 25.2%
        2010 24.1%
        2011 24.1%
        2012 24.3%

Look like it went up under Obama to me.

Flashy says: There has been 30 straight months of job growth in the private sector.

And 42 straight months of unemployment over 8 percent, probably closer to 11 percent if you count the people that gave up looking for work. Remember that stimulus was supposed to get us under 8 percent, as a matter of fact we’re supposed to be at 6 percent about now.

      • JUKEBOX

I wonder why Obama doesn’t want anyone to se his academic records. Could it be that he registered at Columbia as a “FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT”, which would prove that he is not a legal American citizen?

There is nothing baseless about Harry’s claim. We have a serial liar trying to occupy the white house but refuse to be be vetted. How do we know who this guy is paying this guy. Is he on the take to a foreign government. I don’t believe nor do I insinuate Romney is. However it is reason like these why we need and have always have the candidate disclose their income tax record. This guy does not believe in america he hides his money in overseas off shore account to avoid paying US taxes. Hell he pays foreign government more than he does here. Mitt have been evading tax revelation since 2002 and never has. Also Mitts own word a blind trust is a ruse to hide money and avoid answering questions. The owner or the Trust still has control and direction if he elects to.

  • Warrior

I think little harry is sharing with us, some of “those same values” that rahm has.

  • Harold Olsen

I do despise Reid. He is perhaps the most hypocritical people in politics. One of the first people I heard criticize Romney about his Mormon religion was Reid. Then, a couple of days later, I read that he, too, was a Mormon.

    • Robert Smith

What does Romney have to hide?

It would be so easy to PROVE Reid to be a liar, but there is no proof from the right.

      Rob

      • A DeRosa

It would be easy to show them and move on but I don’t think the democrats would stop there and Mitt knows it. It would be too easy to show the returns in campaign attack ads that would portray Mitt as being super rich and out of touch with lower and middle class america. The democrats have repeatedly run ads saying Romney outsourced jobs at Bain during the time period he was chairing the olympics. Fact check and the Washington Post have both debunked the ads as being wrong but it hasn’t stopped them from continually being run. The tax returns would be used against Mitt also and who knows how many loopholes and overseas money would be exploited. Most of congress have admitted to over seas money investing but with Mitt it is unpatriotic? If the dems don’t like rich people using the tax code to its limit and not paying what they feel is a fair share, then eliminate the loopholes and change the tax code! I think this is just a distraction from the real issues of high unemployment and the economy issues. As Obama said in 2008, if you don’t have a record to run on, attack your opponent. nuff said. On a side note, obama has spent 3 million dollars to seal his records, even college transcripts. Romney hasn’t spent a dime to seal his. What could be so harmful as to see a college grade from 30 years ago?

      • momo

Romney doesn’t have to PROVE anything, the burden is on the person making the allegation. It’s time for Reid to put up or shut up.

      • Brad

Mr. Smith, what do you think you will find that he is a rich man with several hundred legal write offs? This is just another leftist tactics to throw another 30 days of heavy media coverage to get the American tax payers off the subject of Obama’s economy and the loss of 2 million jobs and the creation of so called 130k jobs that pay very little. You liberals will not stop with BS until we take the keys to the half black house away from you. It does not matter that this man is doing everything he can to distroy your country as long as you still have a Democrat in the WH. You people should be ashamed but wont be until he gets another 4 more years to finish off the rest of this great country. Then it will be too late and you will say it was the republican’s fault because they would not let Oblamya do his job in 4 years we had to give him an extra 4 to complete his mission. You are insane.

      • Richard

Robert, Romney doesn’t have anything to hide… He just doesn’t want to make public his tax returns. If you feel it is so important, why don’t you post yours here first? Harry Reid is the village idiot of wherever he is from in Nevada and is a parasite. Let’s see HIS tax returns…

      • Ted Crawford

If, Robert, as Harry Reid believes, it’s so very important that a Politician share his tax returns with the people, Why, after 44 years in various public offices, have we YET TO SEE HIS OWN ?

      • APN

Reid is a shinning example of the foolish mental state our country suffers. Like most progressive fools, he has an emotional mindset of someone 12-13 years aged. This is what happens when you put such foolish people in positions of power. I think WE THE PEOPLE should DEMAND this fool be reprimanded for his childish behavior, and in fact, I think he should be fined for spewing his lies on the floor of the Senate. I think we have some very serious issues in this country to solve, and quickly, and it darn sure will not be solved by this fool and his sister fool NP. Heck, neither of the two could manage a two kid kindergarten much less balance their personal check books.

Reid can either come forward with his sources with the evidence to back up what he spews out of his silly little mouth or shut his foolish little mouth. I personally have no interest in how much money Romney has made and how much taxes he has paid. Any fool with the brain power of a chimp would have enough reasoning power to understand that if Romney didn’t pay taxes he would be in jail. However, I’m certain that last statement eludes the progressive foolish mindset.

Time for you DUMB progressives to get busy WORKING and minding your own darn business and leave real world problem solving to WE ADULTS.

        It’s the dope stupid!

      • Winddrinker

Lets FIRST ask what obama has to hide!

It has been nearly four years and we can’t even see a college transcript because obama has spent $3 Million Dollars hiding it with his team of lawyers…

I say the fraud in the White House must show ALL, before demonrats can demand anything from anyone, including Romney.

We need to see all records, passports, transcripts, selective service record, how many social security numbers he has used, why he lost his law license (not the excuse that he “voluntarily” gave it up), his applications to college and university, his application for the Fulbright Scholarship for Foreign Students, proof of citizenship and application for citizenship..to name a few items that are being held in SECRET!

The truth be known, we have an Affirmative Action president that never met ANY standards for the Presidency. His lack of achievement never troubled him as all the standards and qualifications were set at the lowest possible level to accommodate this fraud. No wonder he is comfortable with his incompetence. His incompetence gives rise to his idea that “no one does it on their own.” HE SURELY DIDN’T. He was propelled through the system while everyone “covered” for him, even his professors at Harvard.
His professors covered up his lack of attendance, his lack of attention to any duties as president of Harvard Review, and his abominable grades which set a record of being the lowest ever of any Harvard “graduate” (am not sure that graduate is the proper word to use to describe what obama acquired by pressure on the school.)

The only talent this fraud can claim is his ability to spew old, warmed-over Marxism that has failed for a hundred years. He is a “RETRO president,” and with his retro-progressive followers, that wants to turn us BACK into a Feudal State…where there is a monarchy and the King owns everything!

      • Kevin

Hey Robert Smith. I would expect that the IRS has no problems with his tax returns, or they would be all over him. This is all just smoke and mirrors from the left, trying to hide how crappy a job they’ve done over the last three years. Nothing more than that. If I were Romney, I’d tell the lunatic left to show Obamas transcripts from Harvard, then you can see my tax fillings, otherwise shut the hell up!

      • Kevin

Harry Reid has a gender identity issue, Its a fact! It’s up to him to prove he doesn’t. See how silly this is libtards. Innocent until proven guilty has no meaning to you anymore huh, so prove it you old idiot if it’s true. If not apologize and slink back to that office of yours and climb over that stack of bills the house has passed and do some damn work!
P.S. I’m boycotting California and Nevada until the idiots in those states fire the morons they keep electing.

      • Stuart Shepherd

Robert Smith- You seem to approve of Reid’s sleazy political move to get Romney to disclose his taxes to give the Democrats more opportunity to play class-warfare to the populace and find other completely irrelevant (while our country is going down the tubes!) details to dominate the fascist media coverage and distract the public from what a complete corrupt dishonest (among other things for congressmen like Barney Frank and Mikulski) fascist Obama and they are and how they are destroying our country (with the unwitting help of the Republicans). Thank you.

I think it would be fair for Romney to post his ten-year tax records in escrow, pending Barak Obama’s doing the same. That would really be fun, since Obama’s social security number is probably not that old.

      • Jeff

When did Romney stop beating his wife? Wait, that was Ben. But Romney’s reply to Reid’s charge is quite Freudian – put up or shut up. The only one with anything to put up is Von Mittens himself. No one is accusing Romney of a felony. Moral turpitude perhaps, but I’m certain, as is Harry Reid, that Romney can’t be prosecuted for his immorality. He’s hired the best lobbyists to write favorable tax laws and hired the best CPAs to move his money around to shelter his millions in income from closing factories and stealing pension funds. Yeah, he’s a class act alright, but likely not technically a felon. He may also have benefitted from a tax amnesty program. I know Republicans hate amnesty unless it applies to rich pricks who hide their money off shore.

Who can clear this all up? Harry Reid? I don’t think so. Just one man – Reversible Von Mittens, the Poster Boy for Creative Tax Returns.

      • Centurion

Isn’t that precisely the argument of the “Birthers?” I guess you are now a “Taxer!” Good for the goose, good for the gander. I like the idea of a trade. BHO turns over his birth certificate (a real one), draft records, passport and immigration files, school records, grades, etc. and Romney turns over his taxes. Simple. Then everyone can look at everything and decide for themselves. Of course that wouldn’t serve the political misdirection and deception that is going on to force us to choose the lesser of two evils.

      • marys

By showing them, he would be admitting a sort of defeat, and then they would move on to some other agenda to distract from the issues of taxes, economy, jobs, deficit, etc.

      • Pilot

You could spend every minute of every day dealing with false accusations and never have time to get to the important things in life. That’s why we have the concept of innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is on the accuser. If you don’t have solid evidence, why should anyone waste their time with your accusations? This false accusation of Reid’s is just another distraction, a disinformation tactic designed to divert people’s attention from more important things. Your suggestion that people should waste time proving a negative just shows you are a typical troll on this website. I only took the time to respond so others can see what you are trying to do. How does failure feel to you? Feel it again in November when your cult leader Obama loses the election.

      • BR549

Remember one thing; both Romney AND Obama have been invited to to and voluntarily attended the Bilderberg meetings. BOTH have gotten David Rockefeller’s official blessing, so that only means one thing; that the voters will either be thrown over the cliff in November or have their cars forced off the road; either way with these two, the voters will wind up at the bottom of the ravine.

      • VIOLET BOYCE

WHY SHOULD ROMNEY HAVE TO SHOW ANY MORE, THE LEFT JUST WANTS TO KEEP FROM TALKING ABOUT OBAMA RECORD.I AM ASHAMED TO SAY I HAVE BEEN A DEMOCRAT ALL MY LIFE, BUT WILL BE NO LONGER.I FEEL MOST DEMOCRATS, DON’T SEE OBAMA IS TURNING OUR COUNTRY IN TO A SOCIALIST COUNTRY AND OUR COUNTRY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.WHERE ARE ALL THE RED BLOODED AMERICANS THAT LOVE OUR COUNTRY.IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE RED BLOODED AMERICANS THEN MAKE SURE OBAMA IS ONE TURM PRES. If I were Romney, tell Reid he will show his …if Reid shows..his! In fact, I heard Reid has not paid taxes for 5 years AND he is in with the Vegas mafia. Yup I did! But I can give out my source.

      • figmo

Why should the right have to prove anything to the left? Finally the’re getting smart and beginning to realize that these demands for production are mere ruses to divert attention from the lack of accomplishment by the most secretive president in history who paid nearly a million to hide his past from us and who won’t produce anything. It’s time for some quid pro quo. For everything Romney produces, obama must produce something the republicans demand.

      • Jeff

If Romney doesn’t produce tax returns as every Presidential candidate in recent memory has, then the reason for the non-production will continue to dog him. What is in those returns that’s so damaging. I hope he doesn’t produce them, he gets beaten badly in November because of it, and post-election someone leaks the returns.

      • George E

        Jeff,

You sound to me like someone who thinks he’s got a winning campaign strategy, not like someone seeking the truth. Like I said before, if there was anything wrong with Romney’s tax returns the IRS would be all over him. All you guys want to do is continue beating the drum about how the rich are not paying their fair share of taxes; ie, class warfare, by using Romney as an example. If you don’t like the tax code, go through the legislative process. By the way, Republicans are the only ones that have tried to simplify and make the tax code fairer in recent years. Democrats seem to like it complicated the way it is, except for the tax rates, which they continually try to raise.

      • A DeRosa

George you are right about Mitt’s returns. Showing them would further give the dems something to pick apart in campaign ads even if all in order. Romney had several years of his tax returns given to John Mc cain in 2008 when he was being vetted for the VP spot.
I’m not sure why John wouldn’t come forth to dispel Harry Reids claims of them not being filed. It might shut up the lying pedophile once and for all and show americans how dishonest the dems can be. Besides, all the left wing nutjobs keep blaming Romney for using loopholes – there isn’t a person on this or any other thread that would turn down a ccheck from the irs or use all the deductions legally entitled to when filing a tax return.

      • George E

You’re probably right. I imagine the Romney campaign is using this time to figure out a strategy for making them public, but shutting down any further discussion on this subject or class warfare in general. On the other hand, if they’re skillful and a bit lucky, they might turn this against Obama, but they must be very careful to not let this spin out of control. The Democrats know this, that’s why they’re pushing Romney for a quick response, hoping he makes a mistake that they can jump on. This is all about politics, nothing more.

      • BR549

MAP stated: “Leftists are pathetic hypocrites.” That may well be true, as they are the yet unrealized fodder being used by socialist/communist thinkers and leaders, who can’t wait to tear down the US Constitution that these Volvo-driving, panty-wetting liberals still believe will keep them safe. These people are as blind as a bat when it comes to researching what is going on around them. They love research, but don’t dare touch anything conflicting with their distorted paradigm.

At the other extreme are the bone-headed, dyed-in-the-wool conservatives, who still haven’t figured out that their party had been hijacked long ago (like over 100 years) by monopolistic, oligarchic corporatists. These people don’t need to do research because their view of the world is cut in stone and no one can challenge it.

I liken this situation to the visible spectrum, where at one end people get burned by Microwave radiation, and at the other they get burned by Gamma radiation. At each of these ends of the spectrum, where the parasitic globalists are intentionally hiding, the public doesn’t see them, and any politician who dares operate in the middle visible wavelengths can be seen by all and subjected to potential scrutiny. Romney and Obama share opposite ends of this analogy, yet both cloak themselves in the protection that each of these ends has to offer. Anyone who denounces NAFTA, for instance, while committing themselves to scrutiny by the voters, never gets recognized by the corporate owned media.

In short, MAP, Leftists are just as much pathetic hypocrites as their conservative brethren are ignorant denialists.

Harry Reid is a despicable pice of humanity and HE needs to PROVE that he is not a pedifile! There is nothing this dirtbag won’t do or say to keep the status quo and stay in power. Why is he still a Senator from Nevada, when nobody in Nevada ever votes for him…

If the IRS had a problem with Romney, they would be all over him with a sledge hammer.

James there is a reason that they call him Dirty Harry here in Nevada. Has he got anything on Romney. The answer is no or he would have sunk Romney during the primaries. It would have made Obama’s job easier to retain. Reid by far is a dirty politician in the way he plays. He has no problem with cronyism at all just check out hte Henderson DA office. I dare you. He has been pushing for the light rail to Victorville Calififornia for years. Google Victorville notice its location and ask why there? Check out the past land dealings this man has had. My guess is that Obama has some goods on Reid and that is one reason Reid plays toady waterboy for the president. If you want to fall for Obama and Axlerod be my guest. Harry Reid is failing to live up to his oath of office, if he doesn’t turn all of his proof on Romney’s failure to pay taxes over to the IRS immediately. He needs to be forced to by subpeona of his proof.

        Jukebox,

Reid and the Democrats know that Romney hasn’t done anything illegal. What they’re doing is distracting voters away from the ills of the economy which is a negative for Obama, and continuing to beat the class warfare drum by trying to make the case that a few rich people like Romney are getting away with not paying their fair share of taxes. Obama seems consumed with this Marxist theme and apparently wants to make it a corner stone of his campaign. I hope voters are smart enough to see through this and don’t let Obama get away with it.

      • michiganminuteman

James and Jeff, I think you guys are right. I think Mr. Romney should show as many years of his tax returns as Senator Reid wants to see……..drum roll please…..just as soon as the Commie and Chief makes Eric Holder turn over ALL the e-mails and other documents that are related to the Fast and Furious investigation. Reid’s plan is to create a sense of doubt about Romney; no one can prove it and no one can disprove it and that’s fine with Reid. And those of you defending him here are as guilty as Reid is.

Reid’s comments are a side issue. It is true they focused attention on Romney and his taxes, but the suspicion is already there because Romney is breaking with tradition and everybody knows there’s damaging stuff in those returns. Over 60% of voters want to see more returns and some 70% of independent voters do, If anything, Red’s comments will help Romney to the extent it’s possible to make him a sympthetic figure.
