First of all the court never said it was a massive tax, those are your words. Roberts did not rewrite any part of the law. The solicitor general for the Obama administration argued before the court that it was allowable under both the commerce clause and the taxing powers clause. Roberts rewrote nothing of the law he just ruled that congress has that power under the taxing powers clause and that whatever label you use to describe it, in reality it is a tax. The constitution does say that congress has the power to levy and collect taxes to provide for the general welfare and what he ruled is that is their power and the court does not sit in judgment of the wisdom of their acts but only weather or not they have the power to do so and he ruled they did but he changed nothing in the law as you say he did, the other taxes in the law are specifically for providing for the general welfare and the ruling does cover those too but the question was over the mandate and the tax for it, he had to determine if congress could do it under the commerce clause, the taxing authority clause or both, he ruled that they could only do it under the taxing authority. The correct way to look at the law is the net cost savings, there will be taxes and savings from this law and the net will be reduced but conservatives only look at the taxes it levies. Insurance companies can now only use 15% of their group premiums collected for profit and overhead and 20% on individual premiums, (currently that has been between 25% and 40%) bankruptcy loses from health care are expected to drop 90%, these will now be income to providers and subject to tax and no longer a tax write off, this added income for providers will be added profit for them, a lot less use of the emergency rooms creating more savings etc. etc. that is why you can not just look at it from the tax angle. This law will in time reduce overall net cost of health care and provide improvements for a lot of people, no limiting life time coverage’s, no preexisting conditions etc etc as well as 30 million more covered by insurance and the insurance costs will be cheaper than taxpayers paying directly for their care. Look at the big picture and then you can get the whole picture instead of all this complaining. I understand you do not like the law but that will not change anything. Open your mind and see the truth.

Has Romney ever stood up to his Church concerning its racial policies? Those policies only changed in 1978 (Romney was 31) because no other schools would play BYU and it was costing the school lots of MONEY.

BTW: Romney’s memory problems aren’t limited to his inability to remember which position he held on which issue last year or 5 years ago, or when he ran for the Senate or for the Governorship of Massachusetts. Neither he nor his father (who I think was a great guy compared to his son) ever marched with Martin Luther King.

Romney was very effective at making money for his investors. They made money by locating companies they could load with debt and walk away with the assets. Yes, they also had an investment banking side and can tout success stories, but most of their business was a “chop shop” where the assets went to Bain, the workers got the shaft, and the company and its creditors were essentially looted. Romney’s entire record of business success depended on government policies and his ability to manipulate them. His use of debt was, in many instances, tantamount to fraud, but encouraged by the tax code.

If you examine the performance of the stock market under Democratic and Republican Administrations going back as long as you want (say 100 years), there’s no comparison. Under Democrats, the market has gone up hundreds of % more than under Republicans. In any given year that might not mean much, but when it happens decade after decade for a century or more, there must be a reason.

It tries to convey the glaringly false assumption that the health of the stock market is a barometer of the nation’s economic health in general. It is not. By your reckoning, the rebound of the markets under Obama would point to a booming period of prosperity. How’s that working for you? Tell your tale to the unemployed, the record numbers of those on food stamps and welfare recipients.

It goes wildly wrong in discarding one of the most important factors, the party which is dominant in Congress. Your “statistics” would “prove” something quite different than you assert if that influence were taken into account.

I know the above is difficult for you to understand. Get a dictionary, a tutor and psychological help to move beyond your one-dimensional “true believer”mind. I would like to point out to you that America is NOT a Democracy (as you imply by stating, “He always does what the people want.”). A Democracy is two wolves and a sheep vote for what is for dinner. The U.S. is a Democratic-Republic that is supposed to be governed by the “Rule of Law”, aka The Constitution.

It does NOT matter what the majority wants if it contravenes the Constitution, which Romneycare and Obamacare do regardless of what the Supreme Court says.

Interesting to say the least but he is writer not an actor and he demonstrates it with aplomb. As for the healthcare laws…..if you want to live in a system that treats the effects of disease rater than the disease itself, by all means us a US “doctor”. I myself roll over to Windsor Canada and see a system that works to keep you healthy. And I am not the only US captive that does this. I mean, lets face it, for the amount of $ we spend on healthcare it can be said that we get the least bang for the buck. And the worst care for the dollar spent. And with insurance death panels making the choices for us (many times depending on status and cash reserves) starting with denial of services there will never be anything other than this interesting, but deadly, system for the middleclass and the poor (the 99%ers).

Those who say people are lining up in Canada to come here and get medical “aid” should ask Canadians how many would trade in there system for ours…..answer wold be about .01%……

Sammie is absolutely correct! Atheists, for the very words you gave credibility to, do not, can not have morals. They only have momentary, temporally directed emotional reactions.

Morals are guides for living based on principles enunciated by the One who dreamed up and created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. Morals are His simple explanations of how to behave in order for people to exist without descending into chaos and utterly tear each other apart. He doesn’t go into huge explanations or in-depth soliloquies of how our bodies, hormones, nervous systems, physical and emotional needs fit with the environment, physical and spiritual worlds along with every other variable, pressure, enticement, evil or good we might need to comprehend to enable us to know what He knows so we can act responsibly.
No, He just expounds a simple rubric that exhorts us to behave in a certain way for our own benefit and (if we, also, worship Him in the manner which He says He will accept) He will work out the the minor details for us that protect us and keep things working smoothly.
Morals, manners and protocols are kind of like the oil in a sardine can. Since man is a gregarious beast we need a little lubricant. Anyone who refuses to observe them and worship the True God in the manner He requests is sort of like a Shiite suicide bomber in a Sunni wedding party.
So, your atheism disqualifies you from being a moral agent. You are at best an emotional animal responding to what ever you perceive to fulfill the greatest desire you want or have at the moment.

Fact is that Romney’s original plan was modified by the successor governor and the democrat legislature and Romney is getting blasted for what it IS, not what he proposed. Fact is that the original RomneyCare would have increased the individual’s ability to purchase the type insurance he wanted at an affordable price……. but Romney’s successor destroyed the plan with his changes.
