The cost of government to run anything is, by and large, 2 to 3 times more expensive than the private industry. There is a lot of truth to the old saying that a hammer purchased from the government cost $50.00, whereas the same hammer purchased from the private sector cost only $15.00, this due mostly to the bureaucratic red tape that must be worked through just to cut a PO.

Some government official is going to have the say as to whether or not you get the medical treatment you need, based on cost, not actual need. That will save money in one sense, the tax payers will no longer have to pay for your medical bills as there will be none. Not to mention the 15,000 additional IRS agents that will be hired to police the tax payers to ensure the fines are doled out and paid for those who cannot afford the insurance and to pressure private industry so supply insurance that they cannot afford to offer.

The Americans that have enjoyed status quo and subsidized care that discounted their health care premiums for many years, we cannot expect them to be pleased with these latest events and changes. Their position is being diminished in this search for a more fair and functional system that includes more Americans.

First, deerinwater, how will it be funded? Obama claims that it is affordable, that savings from medicare and medicaid will fund this $3.8 trillion boon-doggle.

For starters, we can expect a $12,000 per-individual mandatory insurance tab to be picked up by employers or individuals themselves. Should this be forced on small businesses, many if not most will go under. Individuals themselves will be fined and/or imprisoned for non-compliance. We must also consider the effect on the overall economy and national debt.

The current administration has been printing money without restraint, causing the dollar to become devalued. Lenders, such as China, want to be repaid in currency that is at least worth as much as it was when loaned-it.

Now to the national debt itself. If the government was to completely halt all spending it would take two generations to repay the debt- this being accomplished by the time the second generation reached retirement age, if they are lucky.

There is another consideration as well; who will really benefit from the plan?

Both chambers of Congress have opted out. When Charlie Gibson of ABC News asked President Obama if his family would participate, all he got was an incredulous stare as a response.

The figures for currently uninsured individuals range from 40 to 60 million. This includes many young people who rarely visit a physician and simply do not need insurance.

Obviously they would not benefit from having to pay $12,000 per-year for this program.

It is estimated that 30% of doctors will quit practising medicine if the plan passes- apparently the medical profession does not feel that they will benefit.

As with any government run program an enormous bureaucracy to oversee it’s implementation and operation must and will be created. It can be said then, that the government will benefit, not only in size and scope, but increased revenues (taxes) as well.

There are a few others who will benefit from the Obamacare plan: illegal aliens, welfare recipients and others who contribute little or nothing to the economy but the overwhelming beneficiary will be the government itself.

Furthermore, it is axiomatic that the bigger the government the more diminished our liberty. Contrary to the intent of the Framers, when government wins, we lose.

Scott – At least here in C’fld Co. we have Care South, that charges on a sliding scale, and Mercy In Me Free Clinic in Cheraw. The Clinic just raised their maximum yearly earnings limit to (if I recall correctly) $24,000. I have always felt that Care South should be a model. When I first moved her, I would go there, get my bloodwork done, see a counselor and even got an ultrasound once; and it only cost me $20 no matter what was done within one visit.

Moreover, if it is not a tax, why, pray tell, did the Solicitor General under direction from the administration, argue it as such?

Are you “taxed” when you get a speeding ticket? Does a court levy a “tax” if you’re behind on child support? What “tax” is involved when a federal court assesses compensatory or punitive damages?

No, Roberts got it completely wrong by changing the dictionary definition of “tax.”

You are correct! After reading the link above, I don’t believe there was any activist actions on Justice Roberts part. He ruled based on the constitutionality of the fine being in the form of a tax rather than a fine. He did his job according to how the SCOTUS was intended.

Roberts was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t. Obama began threatening the Court almost before the arguments were finished.

If he had sided with the dissent (sp) he would have been branded an “activist judge” running an “activist court.”

Because he sided with the liberals, he has now been accepted by the liberals as showing “judicial restraint,” and making himself the swing vote now and in the future.

I have written to the Mayor, our local news stations, Congressmen, our local newspaper etc. I either get no reply or they give me information that I didn’t ask for. The Obama Campaign is a fantastic marketing machine. It is constantly discovering new ways to sell things to people. But the problem is that it has no actual product.

A company that goes corporate cult uses some of the tactics of a cult to inflate the value of its product. But a cult has no product except the sense of satisfaction that comes from being in the cult.

The only things it sells are images of its leader, emblazoned everywhere, his books, speeches and photos, and these are used as tokens of membership in the cult.

In retrospect, the Cult of Obama had much in common with other cults. Like them it recruited young volunteers on campus. Its recruitment materials leaned heavily on books by its beloved leader.

It promised them that a new age was coming and that they could be a big part of bringing it about. And its vector of introduction to older viewers was through a woman who has been accused of promoting cults on her popular television show.

Strip away the politics, forget the push and pull of the election issues, wipe the polar identities of the parties from your minds and take a fresh look at the 2008 campaign.
Then compare the pitch to any of the major cults in the seventies and eighties. There really isn’t all that much of a difference.

They’re all “Transformative” movements that promise to solve society’s problems by using new insights to create a wave of change that begins with “us”.

Even the political angle isn’t new. Jim Jones and his murderous child-abusing cult started out as community organizers for California Democrats, and leading politicians, including saintly hero Harvey Milk, covered for his crimes until the whole thing got too big and Jones got too crazy.

Long before Obama, Lyndon LaRouche went the campus cult route and if you are morbidly curious, you can find videos where “LaRouche Youth”, who have broken ties with their families and friends, shout insane slogans while their glazed eyes stare fixedly into the camera.

The pitch is “Transformative” but it isn’t the world that is being transformed, only the participants, and the method of transformation is constant labor and omnipresent awareness of the program. That is where the Cult of Obama’s retention efforts fell through.

Successful cults maintain control over a core cadre and use them to expand their base, but projects like Americorps did not come close to meeting those goals.

The corporate part of the Corporate Cult deals with adversity by redoubling the sales pitch. If sales fall, it finds more things to sell.

The Obama Campaign is insanely intensifying its sales efforts, without understanding that its sales are falling because the value of the brand is failing.

Many cult survivors dropped out during a similar phase when the cult supervisors pressured them to increase sales and recruitment, even as the cult was no longer relevant. When the history of this campaign is written, we will likely discover that the people on the inside were being just as ruthlessly pressured to achieve impossible goals to compensate for the failings of their candidate.

When businesses hysterically deluge you with offerings for their product, it’s a sign of fear.

Obama’s campaign rolling out invitations to dinner with him and suggestions that you use your wedding to raise money for him stinks of that same fear. It’s ingenious from a marketing standpoint, but from that same standpoint, it’s also a bad tactic.

The last thing that a company or a campaign wants to do is wear people out. But that is exactly what Obama is accomplishing by burning through his base for a short-term cash grab, when what he really needs is to have those people committed to him at the end.

Obama’s people are clever, but not good, which is a common combination at dot com companies that go under when the trend passes them by. The Obama trend has long since gone and no one is all that excited about another four years.

Like Steve Jobs debuting one more feature, the campaign has doled out gay marriage and the DREAM Act to gets its base excited about another four years. But it still isn’t excited. These are features that it expected years ago and it’s not in the mood to work itself up into a frenzy over finally getting them.

This is the part where the marketing consultants spend six months on a study and inform the company that their brand is done and has to either be retired or salvaged through a high-profile campaign that will reinvent it as cutting edge. But when your brand is a man, how do you reinvent him? And when your brand is “Transformative Politics” and even your staunchest supporters don’t feel like anything has been transformed, how do you move the product?

Cults shift the burden of failure from the guru and the program to the participants. It isn’t the man or the idea that failed, but the people.

There are the outside enemies who make enlightenment impossible. “How very much I’ve tried my best to give you a good life. But in spite of all of my trying a handful of our people, with their lies, have made our lives impossible,” Jim Jones said at Jonestown. That is the epilogue of the Obama campaign. The one being scripted for him by the media.

Like Jim Jones, Obama has done his best to give us a good life, but the Republicans, FOX News, the Supreme Court, the Koch Brothers and powerful interests have sabotaged his efforts with their lies. And yet in the end it’s not the enemies who bear the final burden, but the people who weren’t good enough.

Cults demand more and more from their followers to impose upon them an unreasonable and unshakeable burden of guilt. The cult appeals to those who want to make more of their lives, and it destroys their will by making them feel like failures. The Obama campaign’s endless demands of its followers have that tenor as well. Behind all the flowery words, the burden of responsibility is being shifted from his people to his supporters.

The cult frames everything in terms of commitment. What begins as a commitment to personal and global transformation becomes a commitment to the demands of the cult. The commitment is meant to be mutual, and it is occasionally even framed in terms of a marriage.

“In all our years of marriage, he’s always looked out for me. Now, I see that same commitment every day to you and to this country,” Michelle Obama’s campaign mailing says. “The only way we’ll win this election is if we can rely on one another like that.”

The commitments, of course, aren’t mutual. They can’t be. The disparity in power is too great. The cult exists for the sake of the leader, but the leader does not exist for the sake of the cult. Once the followers realize this, the illusion of mutual commitment breaks down. And to keep them from realizing it, the cult strives to make them feel that they have not lived up to their commitment.

The cult intrudes into personal and marital relationships because it cannot allow any commitment to dwarf the greater commitment. That is why cults will arrange marriages and control whom members may marry. It may command divorces or just solicit donations to its cause at a wedding. It acts as if it knows no boundaries, but, in truth, it is setting its own boundaries. It is claiming the intimate territory of personal relationships as its own.

And yet all this only works for as long as the transformative illusion endures. When the sense that the commitment to the cult is not transformative, that the principles of its program cannot make a better world, then its power fades away and dies. The cult may amp up its marketing, but the only product that it ever truly had was intangible.

The Obama campaign never sold Obama; it sold the idea of Obama. The illusion that was more than the sum of his false biography, his chin up speeches full of momentous pauses and stolen poetry, or the typography of his posters.

It was the sense of imminence, the perception of a transformative figure who could change the country and the world. That magnetic tug wasn’t Obama, it was the confused mess of desires, fears, hopes, dreams and wishes that the people were encouraged to project onto him.

The essential product of every cult is the promise of global transformation through personal transformation.

Years later, few people can say that their lives are any better, and while many are still willing to echo Jim Jones and blame that on outside enemies, there is no real faith that the program can work.

Whether or not Obama wins again, his cult has failed. It failed because it was not able to deliver on its promises of transformation, nor was it able to place the blame on its followers.

Most of those who voted for Obama will drink the Kool-Aid one more time, but there will be little enthusiasm in the drinking of it.

If I remember correctly the Mayas had about half a dozen different calenders. What makes 12-21-2012 so important to the Mayas is that all their calenders end on that date. You are correct in saying they do not predict the end of the world. 12-21-12 is the end of the age and the start of a new age. It can also be interpreted as the end of the world as we know it and the start of a new world but it is not the literal end of the world. Also as I recall the Mayas like the Hopi believe the progression of us becoming the humans we have today passed through several worlds (3 or 4) with the old world being replaced by a new one. And yes that is an over simplification of their very complex creation stories.

People have been trying to predict the end of the world since before I was born. Remember last year when that idiot predicted the end of the world and people sent him their life savings? He walked away with $22 MILLION!!!

I will remind everyone of a situation my son is dealing with. He had an earlier heart attack in July, 2004 and 5 stints were put in. This was 8 years ago. He had a heart attack over Memorial Day weekend. And now the 3 stints in the left main artery to the heart are blocked. The heart doctors want to repair the 3 stints and my son’s insurance company doesn’t want to pay for “something that was already fixed.” Sure, the problem was “fixed” but that was 8 years ago and now the 3 stints are blocked and must be repaired. The heart doctors are fighting with the HMO and my son was told this could go on for several weeks. It has been a month already. My son is on a lot of medication. I have known and heard of numerous people with the same HMO that have had and are having problems getting them to pay for anything. But the HMO sure likes to reap the premiums. The name of the HMO is “Health Alliance.”
I hope none of you will ever experience a situation like this.

NONE asked for money, ALL asked for involvement in carrying forth the fight for the Middle Class and America.

One asks for nothing but money, contains nothing but derogatory, insulting, and hateful comments. And states nothing about getting nvolved and working to argue thier ’cause” (whatever it is other than anti-American). The other asks for involvement and working together to move forward.

There is no direct mention of God in the Constitution, except in the formation of the date used in the document: “Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven”.

The Lord in this phrase is, of course, Christ. That is it.

Religion is indirectly mentioned in the oath of office, where a person is permitted to swear
or affirm, taking into account those religions where swearing was impermissible. And no religious test was allowed for any office in the United States, which is neither a direct nor indirect reference to God or Christ, but is notable nonetheless.

No religious test seems fairly direct……just as the unalienable right stated above is “self evident”…..and it is actually the ONLY unalienable right you have ever had, or ever will have……..and it looks like you will have the opportunity to learn this directly from nature,

The theological/philosophical concept expressed is of the Logos (the Word), as expressed in the Gospel of John (chapter 1). This Logos created Nature and Nature’s Laws. This is what Jefferson is referring to in the Declaration (Creator).

For instance, in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 – this verse ends with the first letter and last letter of the Hebrew alpha bet (Tev Aleph)- the Word of God (the Logos) who created Nature and it’s Laws …..

Then there is a reference in the Book of Revelations of the “Alpha & Omega” or the Word (the Logos) who is the Creator (interesting that it’s in the last book of the Bible !! HA HA !!)

The concept agreed upon by most of the founders is of the “Logos” who is the Creator. Have you noticed the close similarity in spelling to the the word “Logic”? You could substitute “Logic” for “Logos” to get a similar meaning in John’s Gospel.

Bob. I 100% agree but what I do not believe that the “we the people” understand is we are faced with the same decision that the founding fathers struggled with. Either we take up arms in open rebellion against our unlawful government or we take what ever they dish out. There. I have openly said it. Its war or nothing. Mary, the average person has no idea about other 3rd party candidates. There is a big difference between Obama and Romney, whether or not you think so. If people start voting a 3rd party, Obama will definitely win. I know this sounds like the Republican talking points, but at this point, it’s true. I can’t tolerate even looking at Obama–his is the antithesis of everything I want for my country, but I will not vote for a 3rd party candidate and not even TRY to get rid of the O.

I agree with you. There is no where near enough Ron Paul followers to yield enough votes in the general election to win the presidency, just as there weren’t near enough for Ross Perot, which resulted in Clinton. If I thought for one second there would be, then I most definitely would vote for RP. Justice Roberts did us all an injustice yesterday, or so it seems, but you can bet your life savings that if Barack Husinsane Obummer gets reelected, he will nominate another radical left wing liberal activist to the SCOTUS and then watch our 2nd amendment be all but washed away. Once they have eradicated private gun ownership, all other rights can be trampled upon with impunity and far worse than they are today.

Unfortunately, the Ron Paul voice and ideology is not near loud enough and “in your face” enough to most of main stream america to make near large enough impact of waking the general populace to the tyranny that is so rampant in our federal government. So we MUST, at the very least, get the imposter-in-chief out of office in November.

When FDR occupied the White House for more then 12 years; dying in his 4th term; he was enabled to appoint 8 of the 9 Supreme Court Justices; all of which were progressive leftists. That singular act; effectively eliminated the concept of “separation of powers”; and instead consolidated government power to the corrupt marxist left. It was for that reason; that the leftist policies of FDR which prolonged the great depression; left us with ponzi schemes instead of real trust funds (like social security, medicare, et al); all of which our participation therein is mandated by law (just as now with Obamacare); have remained unchallenged by the Supreme Court in spite of their unconstitutionality.

Roberts’ ruling simply demonstrates again, the corrupt nature of consolidated central government power of which the founders were afraid; and reveals this fundamental flaw in our system. The fact that President, has any authority (even nominating authority) over the selection process of officials in any other branch of government (in this case supreme court); has shown to be a problematic loop hole in our system; a flaw that has incrementally, but systematically eliminated the separation of powers in government and allowed it to become an all-powerful tyranny.

The President of the United States should have NO AUTHORITY whatsoever, to even nominate anyone to the Supreme Court. Justices should be nominated by a majority vote of the justices themselves; and then those nominees should go on to the same congressional approval process. This was proposed back in the 1950′s but that bill was never passed; and instead; we got the next-best thing; which was term-limits for president. Unfortunately; that term-limiting feature has clearly not gone far enough; in protecting our concept of separation of powers.

If Obama gains a second term; he will be in a position to nominate (de-facto appoint) two more Supreme Court Justices. If that happens; the game is over and the hard-won liberties that the founders fought and died for will have been for naught. Based on his pattern of behavior; we can expect his next two nominees to be blueprints of the previous ones……card carrying members of some special interest group like hispanic lesbians; rather than an objective student of law devoted to a strict interpretation of the Constitution….as the founders intended.

This country has been on the brink for a long time. Whether this ruling will send us entirely over the precipice to a complete nanny-state Tyranny remains to be seen (I suspect it will; as its provisions incrementally take effect). But what is more important is the FACT; that the supreme court has just revealed their own corrupt nature; by upholding a clearly unconstitutional act; and justifying it through that ridiculous and convoluted set of circularly logical assertions espoused by Justice Roberts (it’s a tax….no it’s a penalty….no it’s a tax…..blah blah blah). It is clear that there is today NO branch of government; that is providing the “checks and balances” that we have been led to believe are in place……they are not. The United States Government is ALREADY a tyranny; the fundamentally corrupt and consolidated powers that it has have just been revealed. What Justice Roberts has essentially told us is this:

You….Mr. American……. you WILL PAY..because WE say so…….. OR ELSE. And if you are successful through your hard work and diligence………..shame on you….YOU will Pay even more…. FOREVER. Why…? Because we said so; and we have more guns than you do. You, Mr. American…..are a SLAVE.

Vote for Orama or elect Bomney? Which is which? I can’t discern the slightest difference. This election is just like every other one I’ve seen in the 40+ years I’ve been of age to vote. We have two identical candidates who will continue the same policies that have been in place for decades.

Don’t vote. It just encourages them.

Edd it is hard to understand you do not see the difference in Romney or Obama. Why would you consider voting if you fail to organize the issues and the people running for office.
