More people join the ‘anybody but Barack Obama’ club. It was no surprise that Mitt Romney won the Republican primaries in Arkansas and Kentucky last week. But did you hear what happened on the Democratic side? Forty-two percent of the voters in the Democratic primaries in those two States voted against the incumbent President. In Kentucky, where there wasn’t even an opponent on the ballot, Democrats selected “uncommitted.” That’s almost as embarrassing as what happened in West Virginia, where 41 percent of Democratic voters chose a prison inmate rather than our current President.

Taxmageddon could derail the economy. As discussed in last week’s Straight Talk, tax increases already set to take effect in January will cost taxpayers an additional $500 billion a year. Some economists estimate that it could knock 3 percentage points off the Nation’s gross domestic product and warn that another recession is all but inevitable unless Congress takes action to block this massive tax grab.

More Americans leave the workforce. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 63.6 percent of American adults were considered to be in the workforce in April — the lowest percentage since 1981. Some 88 million Americans have “chosen” not to be in the workforce — the highest level in history.

Fudging the unemployment numbers. The previous item helps explain why the Administration of Barack Obama can claim that the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent in April. And another eye-opener from the Bureau: Only 41.6 percent of people with jobs work more than 35 hours a week — the definition of having a full-time job.

    it will take mor than 10-20years to undo what the commuity oriziner has done to this once great nation. this is one president that hates america to the core. and now he has inserted the white house in the fast and furios scandal so this lead to more than anyone relize . i myself have been encouraing people to get regestered to vote and to be sure to vote . america can not dtand another term with obama . and maxine waters and the president and democrats are trying to turn this into a race about color i hope and pray it is about his record. he is trying to enslave americans of both reces. he has nothing but contempt for our constitution nor the declaration of independence. he has plundeed americas wealth and wants more to give to some of americas enemys. i support our great men and women in these wars but i do not support the wars we are now fighting. all the money that is being wasted is straging . obama is not cappel of running this nation. the demorcats and onama want to staeve you take your home put you in these fema camps and you will never be heard from again. peopke this election means more than you can relize in your wild endless dreams. GOD BLESS AND GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

    More fence crossers, from lessons learned or just thinking refuge? Pocket book folks with a short term view of the economy and looking for a short term gain but it’s alright to get this Fraud out of the WH and get on with getting back on track….

    Considering that Obama is still the WORST President ever, it is no wonder that even the diehard Dems are running from him at top speed. And, if the economy is ‘improving’ why do more and more places close, and ‘going out of business’ and ‘building available’ signage just seems to sprout everywhere? Obama is a serial LIAR!

    A serious question,Chip, is IF Mitt is eligible ….didn’t his father renounce his citizenship
    when he lived in Mexico making him a foreign national? Perhaps this is niggling…but would it not explain the GOP’s reluctance to confront the ‘birther’ issue. Isn’t that the reason Mitts father didn’t run for the presidency?

      The birther issue should be avoided if for no other reason than it is a turnoff to one heck of a lot of people. Stick to real issues and Obummer will be gone. He’d love it if we made the birther issue important. I’d rather see the economy, the asault on the constitution and the Federal power grab be the issues.

    The government could say the unemployment is 1%. However that will not fool the people who are out of work.

      do the math.. if 63.6% of the people are working then 36.4% of the possible workers are NOT working. That would be a 36.4% unemployment rate. Where do they get this odd number 8% unemployment???? O yea I know “new math” being tought at the high school.

      That could be a true statement but since private enterprise is suppose to create jobs and not the government then where are those jobs? Corporatists have failed just as miserably in that endeavor. If job creators are not creating those jobs then maybe they should be taxed much higher instead of allowing them to pad their bank accounts. At least get something out of those thieving trollops.

        eddie, it’s time to get off the hate-the-rich train you’ve been perennially riding. As is well known in the business community, it’s precisely the climate of economic uncertainty that’s causing businesses to sideline their investment money. It’s not about CEOs getting large pay and bonuses, it’s about onerous taxation, and the prospect of much higher taxation and skyrocketing costs under Obamacare and the expiration of tax cuts in January. It’s about government deficit spending and money printing, overregulation and punitive disincentivizing of traditional energy industries.

        The only jobs government can create are government jobs. Like it or not, it is the Capitalist system that creates real jobs, whether that be in a corporatocracy or not.
