A van allegedly driven by a teenage boy wrecked in Texas, killing nine illegal aliens.
A Texas teen is being charged with nine counts of murder,17 counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury or death and one count of evading arrest after he crashed a van full of illegal aliens.
Last Thursday, the van was pulled over. However, the driver, allegedly the teen, sped off. The van wrecked, killing nine people. Six people were injured. The driver was detained after authorities interviewed the survivors.
“He wanted to come clean so he came out and gave us a statement,” said Palmview Police Chief Chris Barrera. “He explained to us exactly what had happened, what he had done.”
The teenage boy, who remains nameless due to the fact he is a juvenile, told the judge they were going to kill his family if he did not drive the van.
The Hidalgo County District Attorney, Rene Guerra, wants the boy to be tried as an adult.
“I’m going to be as aggressive as the law allows,” Guerra said.
