Trayvon Martin And An American Tragedy

April 5, 2012 by

Trayvon Martin And An American Tragedy
UPI
Can there be any justice in the case of Trayvon Martin if it is defined by race?

The entire Nation is a victim in the death of Trayvon Martin.

The emotionally charged national conversation that has followed the tragic killing of Martin has turned what was the story of two individuals who crossed paths and were involved in an altercation that resulted in a death into a speculative hate-fest. The obvious surviving victims — Martin’s family and the man who pulled the trigger, George Zimmerman — might have had a chance to work out exactly what happened on the night of Feb. 26 in a Sanford, Fla., suburb without the racially charged media frenzy. That will never happen now, and every citizen of the United States, regardless of race, has become a victim in the tragedy.

Those who are at the heart of making race the central issue in the Martin case have seemingly thrown aside any semblance of fact in their discussions of why Zimmerman used lethal force against the teenager. Reporter Rene Stutzman of The Orlando Sentinel pointed this out in a recent article.

When the mainstream media initially released a picture of Martin, they chose to release a dated photo of the young man when he was of a much smaller stature. This sparked the claim: It is absurd that Zimmerman needed to use deadly force against a teenager he outweighed by 100 pounds.

Stutzman retorts: “A Sanford police incident report says Trayvon was 6 feet tall and weighed 160 pounds. A spokesman for the family’s lawyers gave a slightly different set of numbers: 6 feet 1 and 150 pounds. Zimmerman is 5 feet 9 inches tall, according to the police report, but it is silent about his weight. A family member says he currently weighs about 190 pounds. Zimmerman used to be far heavier. A 2005 police report put his weight at 250 pounds, but security camera video released last week by Sanford police show him to be much trimmer.”

Given the reporter’s information, there is little question that Martin could have inflicted the injuries visible on Zimmerman’s head and face in a recently released police surveillance video.

The reporter also addresses allegations that the Justice Department is investigating the Sanford Police Department for a long history of civil rights violations, making it plausible that the officers would have no problem letting individuals get away with hate crimes.

She writes: “Not so. Since Trayvon’s death Feb. 26, the NAACP and others have alleged widespread and long-standing civil rights abuses by the department and asked for a broad investigation. But last week, DOJ spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa and FBI spokesman Dave Couvertier told the Los Angeles Times that there’s only one civil rights investigation under way: whether Zimmerman violated Trayvon’s rights when he shot him.”

Why might a reporter in Orlando be attempting to make readers examine the facts rather than jump on the racially driven hate wagon with those who want Zimmerman hanged? Perhaps she wants to do her part to avert the widespread racial violence that is liable to break out if emotional rhetoric outweighs logical consideration of fact.

In a recent visit to the area, Jesse Jackson told protesters that Martin was shot in the back of his head. Martin was shot in the chest. And Al Sharpton also said this: “Sanford is a beautiful city. It’s on the side of the water, has great potential for tourism. You are risking going down as the Birmingham or Selma of the 21st Century.”

In Birmingham and Selma, Ala., during the struggle for civil rights in the United States, a church was bombed, killing four girls; peaceful protesters were sprayed with fire hoses and brutally beaten by police; Americans were made to use segregated facilities based on race; and the leaders of the civil rights movement were arrested and thrown in jail.

In fact, while jailed, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. wrote “A Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” In one portion of the letter, King, to justify the actions of civil rights protestors in Birmingham at the time, writes:

In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action. We have gone through all these steps in Birmingham.

Sharpton and his fellow race provocateurs have skipped directly to direct action in screaming injustice in the case of Martin’s death.

As the story continues to unfold, Zimmerman, who has minority heritage himself, doesn’t look like the racist he is being painted as.

A recent article in The Daily Caller says that Zimmerman has been active in fighting injustice against minorities in the past. He reportedly was one of very few people in his community to get involved and speak out against the Sanford Police when the white son of an officer brutally beat a black homeless man and went uncharged until community members, including Zimmerman, demanded that he be held accountable.

Reason published a list of questions that people concerned about the case would be asking if race were laid aside: Who started the fight? Did Zimmerman shoot Martin “in cold blood?” Is Florida’s “stand your ground” law the reason Zimmerman has not been arrested?

The answers to those questions from people who want race to be the central issue of the case are already defined: Zimmerman started the fight. Yes, he killed Martin “in cold blood” (explaining Jackson’s erroneous claim that he was shot in the back of the head). And, the stand your ground law is acting as a get-out-of-jail -free card for a man who committed a hate crime.

The race baiters have ignored one very important fact, however. Zimmerman has not been charged in Martin’s death, though he is already long into a trial in the court of public opinion.

If race determines how the justice system will handle the case, political correctness has sealed the fate of any American who is forced to use deadly force in self-defense. Zimmerman has been forced into hiding and his life is changed forever due to the unfortunate incident. Unless you want the same fate to befall you, if you ever must use deadly force in self-defense, be sure you are of the same race as your attacker, he/she is white or you have witnesses. If not, you may become the next George Zimmerman.

Just show any case going back a long way, that a black was involved in any big time crime and known to be guily that they owned up to any wrong doing. Anita Brawley, O.J.Simpson , Tyson , ,and countless others .. That includes the one that sits in our capital , He knows that every one knows he is an imposter, but own up to it? The black has an automatic shield protecting him from public opinion, Race,, And the selected scum they allow to lead that trash heap ,Al Sharpton , Jessie Jackson Farrican . You know without a doubt who they are, Then we have a news media that publishes nothing but the truth… Its no wonder we have so many skulls in a vaccume. Just reading some of these articles gives you a clue They degrade anyone that dissagrees with them as if they are the only ones that know the circumstances , and any one that dissagrees are the crimminals. For one thing lets look at the facts, What in the hell was that nice little innocent child doing wandering thru a gated community at that time of day if it was so innocent. If someone of our community watch organization failed to get a suspect out of there or shoot the idiot he would be in big trouble.. That is why you trust someone to help watch your back. This goes to all you gun hating lefties out there that think its so terrible to get someone shot, just snoop around our nieborhood at night where you have no buisness at all and see if you can stand your ground.. Im shure you would be very well airiated before you got a block away……

“If you ever are attacked, make sure you are of the same race before you defend yourself”? I don’t think so. This trumped up case changes nothing as far as I am concerned. I will shoot anyone and I mean anyone, black, white or in between who attempts to harm my family, myself or my neighbors.

George Zimmerman is a man I respect. He was looking out for his neighborhood which is why he spotted the punk in the hoodie and became suspicious. Martin, who was looking for trouble, else he would not be wearing a hoodie in warm weather, became violent when someone who he thought was “white” dared to challenge him.

He likely thought because George was much shorter than he that he had a good opportunity to beat hell out of a “white” guy, and get away with it, like so many cocky young blacks do these days. They take great pride in knocking out their white victims with one sucker punch, usually from behind. He was fatally wrong. He was having his way with little George until George pulled his equalizer and saved himself from possibly being beaten to death.

I have no respect for anyone who wears a hoodie around the neighborhood when it’s hot outside or troublemaking parasites like Jackson, Sharpton, the NAACP and the Communist Congressional Black Caucus but George Zimmerman is a man I would like to meet and say, Gracias Amigo.

Too many blacks think they can get away with anything and get what they want, which is something for nothing, if they scream loud enough and threaten enough violence. They do this even when they know they are in the wrong. It is a game they love playing since it has been very profitable for them and (they think) only hurts “whites”. Problem is, more and more whites see this as behavior which should no longer be tolerated.

Many whites have decided that if blacks want to threaten a race war to get their way then lets do it. We will see who is left standing. Either America becomes a giant Detroit or South Africa under black rule or goes back to it’s European American roots and becomes a sucessful, thriving Country abiding by it’s Constitution again. Perhaps a race war would be a good thing.

      Dear Dens:
It’s stupidity such as this to why we have these problems. If people wouldn’t have these views, then this tragedy wouldn’t of taken place. Say, General Custer had the same views before his battle at the little Big Horn in 1876. Also, the Nazis said the samething before the battle of Stalingrad in 1943. Guess what happened, think about that for abit, if you can. Finally, if you look at stats. whites commit twice as many murders as blacks, what does that tell you about “European roots civilization” !?!

      • Average Joe

“Finally, if you look at stats. whites commit twice as many murders as blacks, what does that tell you about “European roots civilization” !?!”

I would think that would be the case, considering that the “Black”population only accounts for approx. 12.2% of the US population, while the “White” population accounts for 64.7%. So, I would expect a larger number of murders as a whole.
What you fail to adress is the statistics concerning black on black crime, black on white crime vs. white on white crime and white on black crime.

        By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the silent majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the black American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?

Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to Altoona, Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids ? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for black Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America’s fault that illegitimacy in the black American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear !

OK will you pass it on ?

YES. I did but will you?

Because I’m for a better America.

      • http://liberty Tony

        To Average Joe:
First of all, get your Stats straight. Black people are 15% of the U.S. pop. not 12.2%. Look at http://www.blackdemographics.com and you’ll see this. Next, whites commit 54% of all crimes, blacks commit 28%. True, that’s twice more per capita than black people’s representation in the general American pop. In addition, i will agree with you, black people have a high crime rate, have embraced a culture of irresponsibility, futility along with immaturity. Furthermore, you’re right too, that America is the best country for black people, actually for all beings regardless of race, color, gender, orientation, or creed. Excuse the chauvanism but the truth is the truth!!. However, the point i’m getting across that this case of George Zimmerman is not acceptable. He shouldn’t of gotten involved. Therefore, he brought this trouble on himself. Then to individuals such as Dens, this character needs to be locked up in an insane asylum. His bizarre views are causing all these distortions. Alright, thanks for your time!!

      • Average Joe

        Hey Tony,
From the Kaiser Foundation….per the 2010 Census….Just because you read it on a site just because it says blackwhateverdtcom…..as for the rest of your diatribe….don’t buy a vowel…buy a clue.

        Say Average Joe:
Look who’s talking, when it comes to having or not having a clue!?! Fare thee well!!

  • ConcernedVet

    Just wondering..,
If you reversed the colors of both men, Zimmerman dead and Martin released on lack of evidence, and everyone called for HIS arrest, Woo Boy would the blacks be screaming racism then.

I guess that’s why there is a shoe to fit a left foot and one for a right foot…

    • http://liberty Tony

      To ConcernedVet:
Regardless, whoever did it would be guilty of constitutional violations along with disobeying an order from 911, who are trained by law enforcement to give the most accurate advice in a situation. Thanks!!

      • Mark in LA

Are you nuts? The people who answer 911 calls are not anything like you say. Making crap up to suit your side of the story doesn’t help.

      • firefight

        Tony,
911 staff is not trained by police. On that note, Zimmerman was never told to back off nor was he told by the 911 dispatcher not to follow Martin. What he was told was that he did not need to follow Martin since they had contaced law enforcement to respond. Anyone with half a brain knows that law enforcement’s response time is totally unpredictable. They might be there in 10 minutes, 30 minutes or, as in some cases, not show up at all. THAT IS REALITY! But, Zimmerman was NEVER given an “order” to not follow the subject and if the dispatcher had, it would not be a lawful one since a dispatcher is not the law and has no such authority. Why does everyone keep going on about the 911 dispatcher like he or she was the ultimate authority on what Zimmerman was or was not supposed to do? If Zimmerman was part of a neighborhood watch program, he was but one individual among several or many who volunteered to walk the subdivision at a specified time to try and curtail crime in that neighborhood. Now, we know what Zimmerman was doing there. Did Martin live in that neighborhood and if not, what the hell was he doing walking through it at that hour and with a hoodie, which we see all the time being used by individuals to conceal their identity in crimes all over the nation? Like all of you, I can only speculate as to what happened but the way it all stacks up at this point, it doesn’t look good for Martin”s side. Plus, I hope his momma doesn’t make a dime off all the shirts and stuff she’s trying to get copywrited. What kind of mother does something like that and what kind of kid would someone like that raise in the first place?

  • Bob Rice

Hi,I dont know exactly what happened between George and Travon, lets wait until the investigation is complete,BEFORE there is a rush to judgement,There should be a law,Designed to keep rabble rousers from these type of situations, sharpton and jackson, should go home, and keep their collective pie holes SHUT,until the facts become known.BTW,WHERE did they get the title REVEREND????do they have a church? how do they have an income?who is supporting them? oreo or sosas???

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000182806261 Larry

when a black kills another black where are the demo’s and when a black kills a white person you don’t see the whites demonstrating against the blacks. the blacks need to keep j. jackson, sharpton and those others who want to take the law into their own hands out of the picture and let the law the jury and the judge to the job.

  • 2WarAbnVet

Trayvon is not a symbol, he is an excuse – an excuse for Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, and the lib/socialist media to incite race hatred, further their agendas, and make the opposition cower in fear.
Last year a teen-age Shawn Tyson (black) murdered two British tourists (white) who got lost and wandered into his Florida neighborhood. Did white people riot and go bats**t in the streets? Did Rush, Sean, or Neal call for Shawn’s death? Did thousands all over the country encourage kangaroo justice? The answer is no to all, and I’ll leave it to you to determine the difference in these cases.

    • Crystal

      Zimmerman is Hispanic.

    • hipshotpercusion

Shawn Tyson was sentenced to life in prison last week. he was 16 at the time he murdered those to “Crackers” as he called them. Now the tax payers in MY State get to pay an estimated $45,000 a year for this mutt to be in prison. a well placed bullet would have been a lot cheaper, or a long drop on a short rope.

      • Tim L.

I don’t have a problem with guns. I have a problem with morons with guns, because they will inevitably find an excuse to use them.

      • Average Joe

        Tim L,
So, are you telling us that …you own no guns…nor should you be allowed to own any guns?
        Hey!…it a legitimate question……just sayin’

      • Mark in LA

Is he also going to be charged by the feds for a “hate crime” offense – No. Why not?

  • sabulaman

Read the article in the Orlando Sentinal on 4/2 about the two black men that drug a white man out of his car, beat him in the head with a hammer, and then stole his car. It happened about 6 miles from the Martin/Zimmerman scene. What? You haven’t heard about this? ….. This is all about gun control. Gun laws. Stand your ground. Nothing more.

  • Raggs

This all stems from the DHS telling us “see something say something”… They have turned the people of our country against each other with their paranoid schizophrenia…
This administration has created this, they have fueled this and propagandized this… All of the sheeple are blaming the wrong person, we should be placing the blame where it belongs… With this administration crushing the economy things are probably going to get much worse which in turn always raises crime levels.

  • firefight

Well, it does seem like sides are being chosen and we can see the two obvious sides. I’ve been trying to catch all I can from ABC, NBC, CBS as well as Fox about this incident and all three are fueling the fire but with different types of fuel. Now, how do we filter out the BS when we have 4 diferent news organizations feeding us conflicting information? I think that is the point. If the “left wing biased media” wants us comfused, that’s how they do it. When people don’t have the facts, they are confused and thus are denied the opportunity to an appropriate opinion or response. Right now, we have bits and pieces to work with and none of this is enough for any kind of righteous decision about Treyvon or Zimmerman. Both men have been painted as problematic. Zimmerman, as a man with a short fuse that has had confrontations with law enforcement and Martin as teenager who has been expelled from school for posession of drug items and defacing school property. At the same time, both men have been portrayed as saintly. Martin as a young high school athlete with a much younger picture portraying youth and innocense and Zimmerman as a person who has spent much of his time working with black kids in a kind of mentoring program. So, the two individuals meet one night under less than ideal conditions and now one of them is dead. Are we to believe that the meeting brought out the worst in both of these men or only in one of them? Are we to go with past statistics provided by local law enforcement from Dade Country and the FBI or are we to believe the rantings from Jesse Jackson, Al Shrpton and the NAACP? My point here is that we really jnow nothing because none of us were there to witness what actually happened and now we have to deal with everyone who comes out from under their rocks with their personal agendas.

Right now, I can’t do anything about Treyvon or Zimmerman. What I need to do is focus on how Obama and the anti-gun lobby uses this incident to further their “more gun control” agenda, which they surely will. I need to focus on how the NAACP, the ACLU and the left will use this to further supresss and discredit whites. That in itself is the most racial agenda in this country and it is being supported by this government. We need to see that we are a people who need to unite rather than be separated by all of these black vs white groups. As long as we allow them to convince any of us that our color is more superior than any other color, we will remain divided. Remember how Hitler convinced the people of Germany that the arien race was superior to all others? What did that do for the Jews? Even then, there were only a handful of Germans who were in fact pure blooded Germans. Like us, they were all kinds of people living in one country yet they allowed one person to corrupt them. We must not make the same mistake here with Obama. Look at what he and his administration are doing and use good sense. Don’t let them make decisions for you.

  • Gary

If Martin had been white, there would be NO story………………
If Both men had Black or Both men Hispanic there would be NO story……
This whole thing is total garbage…………..

      Gary,
      Unique perspective.

Wonder if anyone will get that. : )

  • Smithkowitz

All he (Mr. Z.) had to do, was stay in his vehicle with the doors locked and follow the man. Stay on the phone with 911 till an officer of the law arrived at the scene. This entire fiasco and senseless death was avoidable.

    • Crystal

Now this is the most intelligent comment made here.

    • oldnyfirefighter

Martin was behind the buildings, not on the road or sidewalk adjacent to it. Since he didn’t have an ATV, he couldn’t follow him – there was no road.

      • Smithkowitz

Zimmerman was told not to follow him. In a sense, he was stalking Trayvon. If Trayvon did jump him, then it was in self defense. He was being followed and didn’t know why. Then the guy starts running after him. Listen to the 911 tapes. He is running, he sounds like he is breathing hard. And then there is this somewhat metallic sound in the background while he’s speaking to the police dispatch; could it be the sound of him racking the slide on his weapon?

    • Rick

was he on a pblic sidewalk? YES did he have a legal reson he was not allowed on that sidewalk NO thenb he had every right to be there. As long as he did ont physicall assault the Guy then he violated not law and therefore had every reason to expect not to be attacked. WHen he was assaulted he had every right to defend himself. It was a hard sad lesson this kid learned when you don’t know who is armed always be polite.Evenb the police chief stated the dispatcher had no authority to tell h8inm what to do.

      • Smithkowitz

Stalking is against the law, it is also not against to law to defend yourself if you feel threatened. That’s what the “Stand Your Ground” law is about. Trayvon was defending his life against someone he felt was after him. Who initiated the incident: his name starts with the last letter of the Alphabet – Z

  • HD

It may turn out that Zimmerman skates on this…if so, maybe Florida will enact a law on stupidity. At the very least, Zimmerman’s actions were stupid, immature, and careless. For this, he would be found guilty on all counts. Such a senseless tragedy!

    • Average Joe

Skate’s?…You mean…if the evidence exhonorates him?…In other words if the evidence supports his claims…rather than what “you” think it should support, wel thenl…that’s just stupid and we should still convict him on all counts? With thinking such as yours…God help us all………………….

Evidence? We don’t need no stinking evidence! String him up…it’ll teach him a lesson………..

Politicians, media and all the professional racists PROFIT from keeping the races at each other’s throats.
I would have thought most of the people who read the stuff at this website were smart enough to see and understand this, and might try to explain to the constantly inflamed race how the above professional racists do it.
    Apparently I am woefully wrong.
We also need to – with a calm voice and level head – explain to the constantly inflamed race that because less than 2% of the population – black men between 15 and 25 – commit about 75% of the violent crime, everyone, especially their favorite victims – other blacks – NEED to be very concerned when they see a young black man, in a hoodie, acting suspiciously. We did not designate the hoodie as a sign of being bad – THEY did.
Seeing reality is NOT racism – Speaking truth is NOT bigotry

WOOT! Telling it like it is!

Blacks in America have had to deal with institutionalized racism for centuries. When blacks are killed and dissapear into the night over a long period of time it’s hard to forget who did it to them. Maybe they now have a bunker mentality and feel they will never get a fair shake. There is still much healing that needs to be done to overcome those ingrained fears and everyone has them. Time to start accepting our racial differences and shed ourselves of past bigotries.

    • Crystal

A hoodie is not a threat, but to whitey a newborn black male infant is a threat to you. You’re so emasculated.

The negros have again been played for saps by the media, administration and those illustrious black leaders. There are no innocents here, Martin, Zimmerman, the police, the DA, NBC, and everyone tossing their uninformed opinions are wrong and this idiotic event will set afros back years. Young negros are getting murdered all over the nation, DAILY, and what do the news services want to concentrate on? If I were a hard working, honest, tax paying and law abiding black, I’d be ticked off…..

    • Crystal

Your a racist pig dog. We’re not negroes, we’re Black.

      • TML

        Negro means ‘black’ in Spanish

      • oldnyfirefighter

Since you were not born in Africa, you are not African either, you are American of black heritage. AKA American Citizen. Color is inconsequential & shouldn’t matter.

      • Crystal

Don’t act dumb. We all know that Negro is black in Spanish and it was Jackson who tried to throw that African American crap down our throats. We’re Black.

      • TML

Just figured you didn’t know that or something… even MLK referred to his race as Negro. Back then it was a less offensive word that saying “black”, so I’m guessing times have done a 180 and negro is now more offensive than saying black. I think the point is, however, that saying negro doesn’t make one racist pig dog.

  • Alfredo

The entire nation is a victim of all the crimes that have been caused by blacks. That is how it should read.

    • Crystal

Then it would turn into historical to this date of crimes committed against Black people by whites. It would start in the hulls of slaveships.

Be careful what you want for.

      • oldnyfirefighter

True, by black slavers that put them in the ships. The same ones that are still operating in Africa today – mostly black ethnic Arabs.

      • hipshotpercusion

All the slave ships were owned and operated by Zionist Jews from spain and Portugual, with the help of Arab slavers from Kenya. As a matter of fact, Barack Obamas Fore Fathers. Ignorant person, you are!

Crystal, you really should quit while there is some question about your lack of understanding abnout what is happening here, or just your lack of intelligence. See……now you idiots have me doing it! Stop all this bulls*%# and start thinking about your kids and grandkids! What kind of country are we fools going to leave them if we can’t get together and save our Republic from this Communist take over. Get a clue people! When the history books are written in 50 or 100 years who will altimatly get the blame for loosing this country to a bunch of communist thugs? We will! The people of this time will be held responsible for letting our Republic be stolen from us because of appethy (wish I had a spell checker)and self preoccupation. The men that gave us this Republic with the sacrifice of their lives and property are spinning in their graves!!!!!

Where is Sharpton’s & JJ’s rage about the two British Citizen Tourists that were shot in cold blood by a 16yr old “black” kid because they got lost walking back to their Motel in Sarasota, Fl. Answer, they never will because they can’t make a race issue out of it, even though they were targeted because they were white & mistakenly in the wrong place. His “Thug” sister (21yrs) was also just arrested for threatening a witness against her brother. They will both be in prison, but you won’t hear a peep from Sharpton or JJ, because they can’t play the victimized minority crap.

      • Crystal

Oldfighter, where’s your rage? Sharpton and Jackson have only one agenda. That’s to keep Black people from succeeding by blowing racism out of every corner. I grew up with the older generation constantly telling us how the white man keeps us down. What does that mean to a 6-year old child. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago and Jackson was continuously coming to our highschool. I moved away not only for a job change, but for my son’s benefit. I do not want someone following and shooting my son simply because he’s a Black male. I love my son just a much as you all love your children.

Now if you want some real outrage. Four Black Marines at Camp Pendelton went to Temecula and murdered a White Marine who just got back from Iraq and his Black wife. Before they assasinated the two of them, they raped her in front of him. When they ran the story on the news, they said nothing about their color. When I found out what their color was I sent out hundreds of flyers all over the community and to all the churches I could. The defense attorneys used it was just a robbery excuse. Had this been four white Marines who killed a Black Marine and his WHITE wife, we’d hear about it until the end of time. Apparently, murdering Black women isn’t any real big deal either.

      • Robert Smith

From old: “they got lost walking back to their Motel in Sarasota, Fl.

No, they were shot in Sarasota. They were staying at Longboat Key, 12 miles away.

Folks are very confused how Cooper and Murray were in that neighborhood. There is speculation ranging from they were trying to buy drugs to they were kidnapped.

        Rob

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

or they could have just been tourists and wondering around for miles – I’ve done that many times and never felt afraid because you don’t know what area is wrong or right or dangerous when you are a tourist. Not necessarily smart, but certainly not uncommon. And not like you’re walking around the slums of Chicago —

One thing we know for sure is that the new black panters, are a bunch of hateful racist people, who have a “WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE” contract on George Zimmerman, with out knowing the facts, and when will Obamma speak out , and tell them this is unamerican,or is he relishing in all of this hate, hoping it will get him votes from the black population, how sad it is that he has not come forward , to stop all this. WE need a president who stands up for all american’s,and does not want to see america divided.

If Zimmermann was following Martin, how come the altercation took place BACK at Zimmermann’s car? Concurrently, what was Zimmerman looking at to be hit in the back of his head?

    Big Al

    • Raggs

Zimmermann’s dad did an interveiw on Hannity last night explaining something like this.
Martin was walking around the housing complex, zimmermann lost sight of martin.
martin walked up on zimmermann as zimmerman was heading back to his car after being told not to pursue…

      • Crystal

        Zimmerman’s father wasn’t there.

    • oldnyfirefighter

According to G. Zimmerman, he was punched in the nose & knocked down. Martin was banging Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk, the reason for the laceration on the back of his head. After being attended to by a Fire Co. EMT, he signed off on going to the hospital to have it stitched. This is common procedure when someone doesn’t want to go to the ER for followup treatment. He opted to go on his own the following morning – which would be too late to have stitches if the EMT thought they were needed.

  • Chris

Based on the 911 recording, Zimmerman had no intention of ending his pursuit of Martin. On the recording, Zimmerman stated that this guy was “on something .” Normal people don’t follow strange people around. Zimmerman did so because he had a gun and was ready to use it. That sounds like premeditated murder. Why is it also, people defend Zimmerman’s right to defend himself, but not Martin’s?

    • Raggs

      You people are ALL IDIOTS.
I suppose that you were there?… You are fueling hate with your stupidity.

      • Gary L

There are two very important things that are lacking here…truth and reason.
Without truth, how can there be reason. The media damn sure doesn’t give a damn about truth.
Lies are told without blinking an eye. People lie all the time and do not think twice about it.
There is no integrity left anywhere anymore because lying has become so acceptable.

      • daniel

I suppose Al Sharpton and his ilk is spreading the message of love and tolerance? This discussion should be about the fear mongering and race instigation happening now. If it is not stopped or corrected there will be more victims and it only will get worse and for what? So a few fatheads can go around with an even bigger ring on their finger or a longer limo?

    • hipshotpercusion

You make the statement…”He had a gun and was ready to use it.” How do you know that? you have no right to prejudge anyone! i live in FL and i carry a gun legally. i would hate to have to use it, but being a disabled person;if threatened i will because i can’t physically defend myself. That being said, i would still hate to use it, but I would hate being dead more. Get the drift? Or, are you completely brain dead?

    • Crystal

      Chris you’re absolutely correct.

      • oldnyfirefighter

Crystal, if he lives in Atlanta with his Mom, how was he suspended from school in Miami? It sounds like you are misinformed, not other posters.

      • eddie47d

If he was suspended from school for 10 days and his mother was working then MAYBE she sent him down to Miami for those 10 days to be looked after.

      • Crystal

According to Fox News this past Sunday, April 1, 2012, Trayvon was suspened from school in Atlanta, GA. His mother sent him to stay with his father for ten days — the duration of the suspension. Now if Fox News was WRONG, let us all know.

  • Stephanie perdew

Zimmerman was told not to follow Martin, but he did. This is provocation and throws self defense out the window. I don’t understand why Florida needs a law to insure self defense. Is the law saying one has a right to self defense not enough? Even with this law there should always be an investigation, the person who lives could be lying, or at least fudging the truth. I don’t think Zimmerman is a cold blooded killer. I think he made a very stupid mistake. I am white and all for gun rights. People like Zimmerman make all gun owners look bad. Some people do not know how to properly use guns, and this is part of the discussion we should be having. I learned how to use a gun and gun safety at a young age and I can already see some of the errors he made.

    • http://liberty Tony

      To Stepanie:
Again, Right on with your statement!! I wish the individuals, who do this website, would see this. Zimmerman was told not to follow, therefore he shouldn’t of followed. True, Trayvon Martin shouldn’t of swung but Zimmerman, however you look at it, brought this problem on himself. Next Benton Blain, get a life will ya!! I swear you sound like the cast and crew from the movie “Deliverance”. Thus, get loss Hoss!!

      • Mike Austin

You are dumb as a stump. You just said following someone is worse than punching them.

      • KW

Why don;t you guys do some research and get some information about this case?
Zimmerman’s story – backed up by more than one eye witness – is that he STOPPED Following Martin when he was told to and returned to his car. Martin had turned and followed Zimmerman, after Zimmerman had lost sight of him, and Martin confronted and then hit Zimmerman about the time he got back to his car.
ALL, I repeat, ALL of the evidence and witness reports backed Zimmerman’s story, according to interviews and reports released BEFORE them media jumped on this case to start the Obama 2012 compaign.
Try reading a level headed story about the facts, as known so far – http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/04/zimmerman_and_ketman.html

      • BGinTN

KW, did not mention that the map of the neighborhood shows that there is proof that the kid was the aggressor. He was but a 1000 feet from his house he was staying at. Why not go there? Why shot farther away, unless he went after Zimmermann. The un-doctored transcript shows that Zimmermann broke off the following as requested.

      • Tim L.

KW, you shouldn’t believe everything you read in some racist, right-wing rag.

      • Chester

It appears that a number of people have missed the initial 911 call where Zimmerman was still in his vehicle when he was advised he did NOT need to follow Martin, that the police would handle that. Once he received that advice, anything else he did or didn’t do was very much on his head. There is NO confirmation as to who approached who or where, but there is evidence that Martin tried running from Zimmerman before anything else went down. Now who was following who? Running from someone sounds so very much like following and attacking, doesn’t it?

      • http://liberty Tony

        To Chester:
Excellent post. There’s ,also, have been others here with good points and tried to look at both sides. However, the rest of you’ll need to stop watching the late Charles Bronson ” Death Wish movie series” and get in touch with reality. Thanks!!
P.S. Mike Austin, it’s you, who’s dumb as a stump or a box of rocks. Whatever way, one wants to put it. Good Bye!!

      • Robert Smith

KW claims: “ALL, I repeat, ALL of the evidence and witness reports backed Zimmerman’s story,”

Not the screaming part. There is a 99% chance Zimmerman was lying about being the one screaming.

Try introducing some science. Generally it’s far better than an eye witness, particularly when the witness knows one of those in question.

        Rob

      • Crystal

If someone were following you on a rainy night, you’d probably swing also. I know I would swing and try to run, but it turned into a fight apparently. All started by a scumbag named Zimmerman, who’s use to breaking laws and getting away with it.

      • Nancy in Nebraska

You shouldn’t believe anything you read in a racist RIGHT wing rag or a racist LEFT wing rag. That’s why everyone should let the authorities sort it out. YOU only know what you read or hear on TV. Even NBC was caught distorting the truth through editing! You have NO reason to believe ANY of it is accurate! You weren’t there!

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Robert Smith, you are a liar! A 99% chance he was lying about being the screamer? Considering that an independant forensic expert that reviewed the 911 tape said there was only a 48% chance that Zimmerman was the screamer and that they didn’t even have a sample of Martin’s voice to compare the screams on the tape to…I think I am 100% sure that you are a liar.

      • Robert Smith

BG says: “He was but a 1000 feet from his house he was staying at.”

Actually he was closer than that.

For an aerial look at the site go to: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/04/02/us/the-events-leading-to-the-shooting-of-trayvon-martin.html

As for the reliability of eye witness accounts check this one out from the same N.Y. Times article: “A witness account
Mary Cutcher, a resident near the scene who called 911, said Mr. Zimmerman did not appear to be hurt or wounded. “He was never wiping his face or cleaning,” she said. “If he had a broken nose, I would’ve seen it.” Police have said that Ms. Cutcher’s sworn testimony differed from what she has said later.”

        “It’s a stupid law.”

As noted in this article: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/apr/2/debunking-the-stand-your-ground-myth/ the “stupid law” does not apply in this case. The confusion is only in the minds of the deceived, uninformed.

      • vicki

Crystal says about “stand your ground law”:

    • Mark in LA

Why didn’t trewvon call the police on the suspicious guy he thought was following him? Why didn’t he stear clear of a guy who might be unbalanced? Why did he punch and attack that same guy? It seems the person who started it was Trevon.

We can play this stupid game all day long.

      • Robert Smith

“Why didn’t trewvon call the police on the suspicious guy he thought was following him?”

Yup, a black kid calls and… Makes sense to you and me, but what about the kid?

Do you really believe a kid is going to call the police with the experience most black teenagers have with the police?

        Rob

      • Crystal

Martin was also a 17-year old boy. Zimmerman started it. Trayvon was 20 feet from his house. The gated community he was living at is mostly white, but 30% of the people living there are black. Trayvon was exactly where he was suppose to be. Going home and getting out of the rain during half-time.

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Robert Smith, now an expert on black kids experience with police, says: “Do you really believe a kid is going to call the police with the experience most black teenagers have with the police?”

You’re sounding more and more like eddie with every post.

      • michiganminuteman

Mark, you are right, Trayvon would still be alive if he hadn’t gone up to Zimmerman and hit him. But here is the real kicker, what about the white kid that was covered in gas and set on fire by two black kids who were yelling “thats what you get white boy”. Why no media circus around that case? Did you even here about it? Probably not because that dosen’t fit into anybody’s political agenda. We are all sitting at our PC’s bickering about this smoke sceen instead of talking about all the freedoms that are being systematicly taken from us, as we speak, by the most divisive, crooked, unamerican administration in the history of this nation! The Martin/Zimmerman case is sad, but is nothing compared to the crimes being perpetrated on this nation by the obama administration! He himself said, “don’t let any good crisis go to waste” ! Wake-up people, get orginized and lets take back our country from all these carear polititions who have forgot that they work for us and the Constitution is the supreme law of the land!

      • ToeTagTunny

I don’t know about ‘starting it’ but if the teen was so close to home (his dad’s gf’s house) why not just go home THEN call 911 and report a deranged stalker was cruzing around the neighborhood and inciting trouble? Seems that would have at least balanced the ordeal. I don’t know any more than I’ve heard (both far right, far left and middle road) but the entire situation would have been resolved with clear heads (on both sides).

      • Adollarsworkapeenyspay

So here we go! “Do you really believe a kid is going to call the police with the experience most black teenagers have with the police?” Yadda, yadda, yadda!!

I don’t care how hard you try, the color of your skin can not be detected through a telephone call!! Quit feeding on hate.. Blaming whomever!! This is going to culminate into a national racial knock down-drag out if we don’t stifle this finger pointing and hate mongering.. Meanwhile.. Both sides of our Gubment will continue to pass those unconstitutional bills that will really affect each and every one of us in the near future.. Get’chur mind straight! There’s federal chickens we gotta pluck!!

And this was where? Are there any names?

Oh! I have one… Allen Coon. Or is it Allen Goin?

Looks like a complete fraud to me. It would have been soooooooo easy for the police to get prints from a gas can, but alas there were none. The rest of the story (looks like fiction to me) is so shot full of holes it makes no sense.

IMO it’s a hoaks created so folks on the extreme right have something to counter the killing by Zimmerman.

        Rob

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

It’s interesting rob, how you decide what’s a hoax and what isn’t yet you’ve charge, tried and are ready to finish Mr. Zimmerman without any hesitation – like you were present and accounted for at all these crimes to determine his guilt. Doesn’t sound like a very educated way of handling guilt or innocence —Sounds like you’re doing the old time witch hunts —-

      • Robert Smith

        No “witch hunt” Liberty.

There is a 99% chance Zimmerman lied about “screaming.” The audio experts compared his voice on the 911 call to the screams. He ain’t the one making noise.

He didn’t back off when he was told to.

He violated Neighborhood watch policy by carrying a gun.

He has past records of violence.

He was fired from his security guard job because of his temper.

And finally, it was his gun in his had that killed the kid.

When I add it all up it ain’t a witch hunt but looks to me like he should be arrested and get his day in court.

        Rob

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

Rob, yes, it is a witch hunt. You yourself have spouted on and on about such things many times and this fits all you moan about and more. Only this time you’re the judge and jury – Personally I have no idea – originally I was behind the young adult – now I’m not so sure since there is so much conflicting gossip, particularly the doctored tapes from the mainstream media. I wouldn’t dream of judging this one in the circus setting witch hunt it appears at this point in time.

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

And rob, Trayvon was a young adult, not a child.

      • http://YAHOO CHAR51

it seems to me he was where he didnt belong. in a gated commuity, late at night, with a dam hoodie in florida not like it was cold, where there had been break ins.with a record that wasnt a good one.if he hadnt been where he wasnt suppost to be, because he didnt live there, didnt know any one there, hed be alive. cant blame every thing on zimmerman. it was just as much his fault. when is people going to take the blame for what they do.a lot of people are right. a race war is coming. the news harly ever puts a fuss over white people getting killed, unless a white kills a black is there a race proublem.time to take respoubily forf what you do.

    • Mark in LA

Maybe like, all low level thiefs, Trevon was going to the store but had been in the neighborhood many times before and did simple smash and grap heists and was looking for another one when he saw Zimmerman following him. He already knew Zimmermam was a neighborhood watch guy from the grapevine. He was pissed because Zimmerman was keeping him from doing a job and that’s why he punched him.

      Let’s do this all day.

WRONG! Your story is stupid because Trayvon was staying with his father for 10 days. He lives in Atlanta with his mother. Parents are divorced. Zimmerman murdered Trayvon 20 feet from Trayvon father’s house. Trayvon’s father lives in the gated community. The gated community is 30% black.

    Obama’s “son” “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin

Obama’s “son” “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin is NOT the 10-12 year old choirboy that the Obama’s racist-baters and left-wing fabricated news depicts!!!

Remember the negroid racist-baters Al $hapton (remember Tawany Brawley), Je$$e Jack$on and the rest of the lynch mob that the left-wing news fomented during the Duke Lacrosse case where a negroid hooker claimed she was raped by a bunch Caucasian members of the Duke Lacrosse team???

Remember “mongrel” Obama’s inflamed racially incident after declaring police had ‘acted stupidly’ when arresting his negroid buddy Henry Louis Gates??? Now Obama has thrown his two-bits in about his “son” Trayvon Martin with the handle “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA,”
    http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/26/the-daily-caller-obtains-trayvon-martins-tweets/#ixzz1qGztV3LT
Does “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA,”’s 6’3″ ~170 pounds menacing face in his tweet with his gold teeth look like the choirboy that the left-wing fabricated news depicts???

“NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin was suspend 3 times from school; defacing lockers, caught with a marijuana pipe & baggie and school bag containing 12 women’s jewelry including wedding band, diamond earrings, watch & with screwdriver described as a “burglary tool,” according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police.

“NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin met his end in Sanford, FL which has one of the highest crime rates in America “compared to all communities of all sizes — from the smallest towns to the very largest cities.” With a population of just over 50,000 Sanford has 59 crimes per square mile, 69 crimes per 1000 residents, and one in 15 for property crimes. The prospect of having your car stolen is one in 255, and the probability of someone becoming a victim of murder, rape, robbery and assault, is one in 150. According to the national Uniform Crime Report for 2009, among people 18 or younger, blacks were charged with 58 percent of murder and non-negligent manslaughter, 67 percent of robberies, 42 percent of aggravated assaults and 43 percent of auto thefts. As for murder, more than 90 percent of the time, their victims were black. These statistics, showing a strong interconnection among race, youth and crime, are a far better explanation for racial profiling and suspicion than simple racism.

“NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin despicable mother Sybrina Fulton is trying to trademark Trayvon slogans so she can capitalize on her sons death.

To give you an idea of the type of “NO_LIMIT_NIGGA” Trayvon Martin peers in this area instead of being in school learning math, reading, writing and the real history of the USA instead of the lefts politically correct BS they are out on the street with their teacher so as a mob of a 100 or so they can trash & steal from a Walgreen store.

Are Dwyane Wade, LeBron James & Miami Heat teammates, Ray Lewis of NFL Baltimore Ravens putting up the lynch money for the Black Panthers bounty on George Zimmerman???

Hollywood negroid Spike Lee put an address & phone number for an old couple on the internet claiming it was George Zimmerman’s with the only obvious reason to create violence or intimidation. The addresses & phone numbers of Lee, the donors of the lynch money, Je$$e Jack$son, Al $harpton, and the Black Panthers should equally put on the internet!!!

It sure is and one Sarasota, FL resident Shawn Tyson was guilty of it;as well as the cold blooded murder of 2 white British students on vacation. The jury found this 17 year old guilty last week and the judge sentence him to life in prison. Too bad those 2 students didn’t have a gun, they might have had a chance. I wonder what would have happened to Mr. Zimmerman if he hadn’t been armed? Probably another 17 year old black thug going to jail on the taxpayers dime. At least now, we won’t have to pay for 3 hots and a cot for the liitle monster.

      • Robert Smith

hipshot asks: “I wonder what would have happened to Mr. Zimmerman if he hadn’t been armed?”

He might have done what he was told by the police.

He certainly would have been following Neighborhood Watch policy.

He would not have killed a kid.

at his age he would have been tried as an adult in many many situations. And racism sucks – as well as reverse racism – or picking and choosing which crime against humanity is offensive, or who we care about as a victim and who we don’t care about as a victim. You can’t pick and choose – all or none.

What are the rightwing nutjobs called who are stirring the pot Raggs? Why do you always give them a free pass.

      • Kate8

eddie – So, you are saying that the “rightwing nut jobs” should simply leave this ridiculous charade uncountered?

Had the Left not blown it into something bigger than it is (these things go on every day…even worse, yet go unreported), there would have been no need for further commentary.

No, the Left was just waiting for the first opportunity for a white/black incident to serve as a launchpad for gun confiscation. They pounced a bit prematurely, though, because neither of them were white…oops. Oh well. We can just leave that little detail unmentioned…the stupids won’t notice…

Obama promised to go “under the radar” to get the guns. His clowns have been setting up the stage for a perfect storm, anyway, by handing out guns to the worst of the worst, giving them the green light to start shooting.

The way things have been going, eddie, your weak protests only make you look foolish. Is a paycheck worth selling out your country?

Answer to this would seem obvious. Some people are just oblivious to consequences. And they are the ones who cry the loudest when they have to pay up.

      • vicki

All those people protesting Mr Zimmerman seem to be of the left wing not the right wing, even Obama, so there is no need to complain about the right wing when they are not doing any stirring.

Looks to me like the left has it backwards. This incident is further proof that gun control is bad. Had Mr Martin been allowed to have a gun he would have been able to defend himself. (Assumes that the left mantra of Martin as the victim is true.)

Like so many good liberals, eddie is more concerned about, what he would consider to be, unfair play and then depends on his emotions rather than rational thought to respond with a question…but don’t they(liberals) all?

I’d ask eddie who these “rightwing nutjobs” are, but so many of us, for 2+ years, are still waiting for eddie’s answers and proof for many of his fabrications, irrational thoughts and allegations.

  • Chris

Race related or not, Zimmerman was the instigator. Its clear on the 911 call that he had no intention on waiting for police or quit following Martin. If someone follows me, I have a right to defend myself if approached. If Zimmerman had no weapon, he would have probably complied with the dispatcher’s request. However, having the weapon, he was willing to pursue. That sounds like premeditated murder to me.

    • Doc Sarvis

I totally agree Chris. When he was told to back off (however that was said – I don’t recall) he should have backed off.

      • HD

      • Ernaldo T

and you are sure he didn’t?

      • eddie47d

That has already been determined in whether Trayvon had a gun or not. (he didn’t)

      • Wyatt

Odd , Zimmerman stated he was returning to his vehicle when attacked from behind . Now of course you and I were not there , but as the rest of Zimmerman’s account of the incident has been more or less verified by witness’s and by Zimmerman’s injuries and grass and dirt stains on his clothing and yet you choose to believe the media , Jackson , Sharpton and the rest of the hatemongers and racists . Just look at the photo the fellow in the picture is holding . “If Trayvon was White , Zimmerman would be arrested ” . Everyone is assuming Zimmerman is white when in fact he is of mixed parentage . Also the fact that the event in question took place a full month prior to the uproar caused by the statements of an individual of mixed parentage himself .

Those who were not witness to the event should just zip it and allow the police to do their job . Clearly they felt that at present time there was more to look into and at present there was not sufficent grounds to hold and charge Zimmerman under the present laws .

      To Chris:
Right on!! Granted, these race hustlers have used this tragedy to their advantage but you’re absolutely correct!! George Zimmerman was way out of line. People here talk about constitutional liberties, well, Trayvon Martin’s “constitutional rights” were violated big time. Wouldn’t you all agree!?! Thanks!!

      • Mike Austin

I would not agree. The dispatcher has no authority. Zimmerman broke no laws in following the thug. He has every right to talk, yell, scream and accuse the punk of casing the properties. YES, he was within his right. Trayvon however, does not have the right to touch Zimmerman. Therefore, he learned a permanent lesson. Zimmerman was within his rights but is guilty of not doing the smart thing.

      • Crystal

Zimmerman is the only THUG in this story. Trayvon was 20 feet from his home. Zimmerman has been in trouble with the law twice. Once for domestic violence. The second with a scrape with the police. How those charges were dropped is really strange.

All Black males are not thugs like you Tony.

      • vicki

One thing is clear. Mr Martin is another victim of gun control. Had he been allowed to posses a gun he could have defended himself. But being under 18 the law denied him access to the best tool for self-defense.

Were you there? Are you part of the investigating team? A forensic expert investigating this case, maybe? Do you have any qualifications at all that makes you some kind of expert ( of any kind) in this case? If your answer is no to these questions…STFU…you don’t know anything other than what the rest of us know…and all you are doing is …flapping your jaws…and giving us your opinion…that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee in some places….around here, your opinion (without evidence to support it)…is pretty much worthless….
In the future, please learn how to filter what comes from the Lamestream media…..so that you know the difference between actual news….and propaganda to sell their product……to the lamebrained public….And apparently, you have bought their entire line of products…lock, stock and smoking barrel ( as evidenced by your comment).

      • Kate8

Average – You know as well as I do that none of this is about what actually happened. We can debate this into the coming years, but the fact remains that none of us were there.

No, this is just the opportunity that presented itself for Obama and his thugs to blow up into a (fake) case for gun confiscation and escalation of racial fury. Nothing more.

We are all victims here, and if Obama has his way, we’ll all suffer unjustly.

      • Average Joe

        Kate8,

That was my point, none of us were there..none of us know the real story…yet there are people commenting as if they are somehow privy to “The Truth”….while the rest of us are somehow……just plain “ignorant to the facts”.

The whole thing is just one gigantic “MEDIA CIRCUS”…and nothing more.

  • Sirian

Standby, this is going to have a total of more than 300 comments by days end. As usual, so many of them will know everything there is to know and will have reams upon reams of supposed documentation to back their stand. As I’ve said before, let the law run the standard line of collecting information, evidence and facts. Then let those in charge of the investigation determine the action needed thereafter. If they decide Zimmerman should be arrested and tried, so be it! If not, then let it go – is falsely based civil unrest justified? If any agree with that then they are without question members of the clan of low life race baiters such as Sharpton & Jackson. Those two are out for nothing more than the media coverage and $ they can make. Oh how they love to rattle everyone to get their fifteen minutes of fame. And they are devout MLK people?? Jackson especially!! Stand back everyone and watch the flow of comments. This will generate the usual stampede of “know it all’s”.

    • Witsend

      Well said Sirian!
And here is the first of those “know-it-all” comments.
I believe (not know) that if there had been evidence to charge Zimmerman of murder, he would have been detained. If there had been any indication that Zimmerman was a threat to others, he would have been detained.

      • Robert Smith

The cop at the scene wanted to detain him.

“The investigator, Chris Serino, was unconvinced by Zimmerman’s assertion that he resorted to deadly force in self-defense, according to ABC News.”

        That’s from: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Justice/2012/0328/Trayvon-Martin-case-Why-hasn-t-George-Zimmerman-been-arrested-video

        Rob

      • Average Joe

Robert…as usual…you tell us part of the story….so that you look like you have a clue…and now the rest of the story….

“But Serino’s superiors, in turn, were apparently unconvinced by Serino’s reasoning. They did not take Zimmerman into custody because of two words: “probable cause.”

“The Sanford police said this is why they did not arrest Zimmerman: they did not have probable cause to believe that he had broken the law,” writes legal analyst Dave Kopel, research director of the Independence Institute, on the widely read legal blog The Volokh Conspiracy.Florida’ Stand Your Ground law would have been legally irrelevant to this determination, according to Mr. Kopel. ”

While it is nice that legal analyst Dave Kopel has an opinion on the case….it is after all… only his opinion and nothing more. His opinion carries absolutely no weight on the case….he is not involved in the investigation on any level…other than shooting off his mouth….and fanning the flames of speculation.

Unlike you Robert…I don’t know who is to blame for this unfortunate event….and really don’t care to speculate on that point……but, then…I wasn’t there….I’ll let the law and the courts make that determination…after all, that’s what they are supposed to do.
I realize that you have difficulty discerning the difference between speculation and actual evidence…..but please, in the future…at least make an attempt….and stop trying this case in the “Court of Public Opinion”……leave it to the proper authorities to do their jobs.

      • Robert Smith

Hey Joe you post: “….I’ll let the law and the courts make that determination…after all, that’s what they are supposed to do.”

Yup, you seem to be taking the word of a political hack DA rather than a cop at the scene.

Too bad it won’t get to court without an arrest or wrongful death suit.

BTW, how do you explain that there is a 99% chance that Zimmerman is a liar? They’ve had time to compare his voice on the 911 call to the screaming. They are even more sure it wasn’t him, contrary to his claim.

        Rob

      • Average Joe

        Robert Smith ,
You write: “Yup, you seem to be taking the word of a political hack DA rather than a cop at the scene. ”

You seem to do a bit too much “ASSuming”…rather than actually thinking in a logical fashion.
But, since you brought it up, I am not taking anyone’s word about anything, but….since the City, State and Federals authorities have all gotten involved in “A local matter”…there has still been no arrest made in the case. Unless you are insinuating that this is a conspiracy between all three agencies to cover something up…..I fail to understand your question or your reasoning.

“BTW, how do you explain that there is a 99% chance that Zimmerman is a liar? They’ve had time to compare his voice on the 911 call to the screaming. They are even more sure it wasn’t him, contrary to his claim. ”

Uh…I don’t need to explain anything, nor would I attempt to do so….it’s not my job…nor am I a trained professional at voice recogniton. That is however the job of the Justice System.
If charges are filed and a trial ensues…both sides will be allowed to bring in their “experts” and those experts will give testimony to a “Jury”…..who will decide which experts that they believe…and after all of the evidence is presented to the jury…THEY, the Jury (imagine that)…make a decision of guilt or innocence……for those of you who are a wee bit slow on the uptake…that’s the way the system works.

      • vicki

Why do people claim that Zimmerman was not detained that night? Do they believe that the video of him being brought into the station was faked?

Tom Owen, forensic consultant for Owen Forensic Services LLC and chair emeritus for the American Board of Recorded Evidence, told the Orlando Sentinel that there was only a 48% chance that it was Zimmerman crying for help on the tape and also said he couldn’t be sure that the voice was Martin’s because he didn’t have a sample of the teen’s voice.

The “experts” have listened to the “screams” and came to the conclusion that there was a 48% chance the scream’s were that of Zimmerman…does that means there is a 52% chance that the voice is Martin”s? 48% is pretty damning evidence wouldn’t you say? Beyond a shadow of a doubt? Not even close!

They don’t even have a sample of Martin’s voice to compare the screams on the 911 tape to, but they’re sure it the voice of a young man.

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Robert Smith, why don’t you read the Trayvon Martin police report yourself.

The report, filed by Sanford police officer Ricardo Ayala and published online Tuesday by the Chicago Tribune, indicates that there were at least six witnesses — three men and three women — who saw or heard some part of the events that led to Martin’s death. They ranged in age from 19 to 56.

Zimmerman was in custody when Ofc. Ayala arrived on scene. Officer Timothy Smith, in his written report, notes that “Zimmerman complied with all my commands and was secured in handcuffs.”

“Zimmerman was placed in the rear of my police vehicle and was given first aid. I oberved that Zimmerman’s back was wet and covered with grass…Zimmerman was also bleeding from his nose and the back of his head.”

Once Zimmerman was cleared by the [Sanford Fire Department], he was transported to the Sanford Police Department.”

“Zimmerman was placed in an interview room at [Sanford Police Department], where he was interviewed by Investigator D. Singleton.”

      Hey Sirian…

Remember, Zimmerman was arrested for assaulting a cop, paper was passed to him to not be aggressive by an old flame, and he was fired from his job for being able to break into a rage at the drop of just about anything.

It ain’t about race. I agree that has clouded the issues.

But the basic issues still remain that Zimmerman was aggressive, he did disobey the dispatcher, he was carring a gun when he wasn’t supposed to be, and he (99% chance) lied about the screaming.

Further the cop on the scene wanted to arrest him because he recognized that his story didn’t match.

So, even without race involved the case for Zimmerman going to trial is compelling.

This is not about race or justice.

This is about trying to change the “stand your ground law” and disarm the American public.

*grabs popcorn to wait and see*

      • Robert Smith

From Rocky: “This is about trying to change the “stand your ground law” and disarm the American public.”

“Stand your ground” is a bad law. Self defense has always been accepted in court and when applicable a valid defense.

“Stand your ground” is a 007 license to kill.

Besides, it doesn’t apply in the Zimmerman case. HE was the aggressor stalking and assaultiing the kid on the sidewalk.

        Rob

      • Crystal

A young woman in Oklahoma with her baby were home when two men tried to break in. She barricaded the door and called 911. She asked the dispatcher if she could shoot them if they broke in, the Dispatcher told her she couldn’t tell her to shoot anyone, but to protect her infant son as best as she could. This young woman shot and killed one of the men who broke in. That’s self-defense. She also had recently loss her husband to cancer in Dec. 2011.

Zimmerman has been in trouble with the law not once, but twice. He went out looking for trouble. They played the entire 911 call on the court station. Zimmerman said, “These a$$holes are always getting away” in his call. He’s completely at fault here. He knew what law he was going to use.

Everyone I know is a gun owner, and not one of us has gone out to shoot anyone. It’s a$$holes like Zimmerman that create the disruption of our 2nd Amendment Rights. Not only that, how do we know Zimmerman didn’t attack first and Martin got a few licks in before he died.

Zimmerman is not the young woman in Oklahoma. He couldn’t purchase that much character.

      • vicki

        Robert Smith says:

“Stand your ground” is a 007 license to kill.

No. It is a license to NOT get shot/stabbed in the back when you try to run away as the law USED to require.

Besides, it doesn’t apply in the Zimmerman case. HE was the aggressor stalking and assaultiing the kid on the sidewalk.

Which easily explains why the “kid” was using a sidewalk to beat Mr Zimmerman’s head in. For us to believe your story we would have to believe that Zimmerman decided to assault Martin with out bothering to illegally use his gun to subdue Martin.

Now we can create a dozen hollywood drama scenarios as to how that went down. What we are missing is evidence. Police had evidence. They initially detained Mr Zimmerman then released him.

If you have evidence that they don’t have then call them up and share.

Btw one important lesson here. If Martin was truly assaulted as claimed by Robert then he is another victim of gun control. Had Martin had a gun he could have defended himself. Thus driving another nail into the gun grabbers coffin and proving the truth of 2 soundbytes

        1. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
        2. Never bring a sidewalk to a gunfight.

      • Rick

You are right Rocky. As for Robert Smith just dooes not like it the people no longer have to retreat when some buddy attacks them on the street. It still boils down to the fact that if they do ont feel they have a case (I know this will shock you the police do not bring charges the prosecutor does. And they have to belief a crime was commited. And wether they like the outcome it can still be legal. And Robert you are right about one thing the Stand your ground law does not apply here. He was being assulted and he used death force to defend himself. He never touched this kid but he injuries are consitant with he story and all eyewitnesses. as for the nes that heard this or that if you didn’t see it’s hearsya at best And that also seems to agree with all the other information from police reports and eyewitnesses.

Hi Sirian; If folks come to some conclusion from a reaction, albiet an emotional one, all perspective is lost. Therefore…I have questions…questions like how come Zimmerman is seen while being arrested, without a mark on him when a week later, he has broken nose and scrapings all over his face? What did ‘they’ do to him while being incarcerated. Do the police harbor a grudge against this guy? Are the PTB using this case to bolster their argument against the ‘ carry concealed’ laws that the NRA are attempting to provide as our Constitutional rights? Are you aware of Hillarys involvement under a new UN Charter to ban all small arms? a clear violation of our Constitutional Rights? Why did they choose to depict a younger(and more vulnerable) depiction of Martin.? My take….a mistake was made. This kid went and pulled out his soda and Skittlesto show Zimmerman and he thought he was going for a gun and thus shot him. And now, most likely, the likes of Obama(BO) want to instigate a race war in this country to divest against the real issues facing us, the ones that Livingstone has mentioned in their book/pamphlet ” whose to blame”. A very good read I might add. And then…what about the 54 year old retired black veteran who was shot in his home by police after accidentally setting off his medical alert button, and when the med. alert company told the police to stand down, they refused (all on tape) and brazenly kicks this poor fellows door down and kills him. Why is there no media verbage/outrage over this? Remember…the media is bought off…we are being purposely haranged on a daily bais and in the end…we have martial law and the people won’t be able to takes it no more and will take what ever they are given just to make it stop. At this point…my impression….only divine intervention will stop this mass ofinjustice against the peoples of this earth. So my friend….u protect yourself and loved ones asap because its coming and soon. Our mantra 1)Long range food storage 2)silver bullion 3) and the means to protect the first 2… and u. Sent with Love.

What’s funny about Robert is the way he writes this:

“Hey Joe you post: “….I’ll let the law and the courts make that determination…after all, that’s what they are supposed to do.”

      Follwed by:

“Yup, you seem to be taking the word of a political hack DA rather than a cop at the scene. ”

While while completely ignoring the first part of the paragragh that he took my quote from:

“Unlike you Robert…I don’t know who is to blame for this unfortunate event….and really don’t care to speculate on that point……but, then…I wasn’t there….”

I am giving Robert the benefit of the doubt though…because I think I know what happened….. You see Robert is a speed reader and he was reading so fast…that when he got to the end of the previous paragragh…he hit that period…and it bounced him over the first half of the paragragh….an honest mistake…wink, wink, nudge, nudge…say no more……

It is obvious to even … THE STUPID … that the crime scene … questioning … and witness interviews were … BOTCHED … they knew who he was day one but didn’t notify his parent for 3 days … THE MOST LOGICAL REASON IS TO MAKE IT HARDER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED … AND TIME TO CONCOCT LIES TO COVER UP THE BUNGLING

      • James

I’m not the ‘James’ who wrote that. The latest news is that Zimmerman has been charged with Second Degree Murder. When enough people march in the streets, there must be a sacrifice to appease them.

It’s a shame that you all know the truth and still lie! You are known to throw stones and hide your hands, then have the nerve to ask, why is that person bleeding and crying??? Could it be from the stone that you just picked up and hit them with? You still have the dust on your hands. But you were raised to lie no matter what. This is just another case of you all killing and lying to cover it up. Then pretending, for conscience sake, that you couldn’t possibly know anything about it. Or demonizing the person so you can justify why you killed, took property,or banished to some God forsaken place. That worked back before social media began to show you up for who you are. No one believe your lies anymore! Just like MARTIN Luther King was killed in cold blood.(you would have said that was self defense too) Trayvon MARTIN was also killed in cold blood, for minding his own business, not chasing Zimmerman like a hunted animal. Go ahead keep lying to yourself, so you can sleep at night.
