Totalitarianism American-Style

Totalitarianism American-Style

Television pundits, political hacks, progressives in higher education, brainwashed educators and the elite rulers in the halls of the Washington, D.C., cesspool love to call America a democracy. Most of the people believe it. After all, it is what is they were taught in school. But it is not so. America is a totalitarian society.

When envisioning a totalitarian regime, most American people imagine concentration camps, soldiers roaming the streets demanding “papers” and people disappearing in the dead of night. Totalitarianism American-style is more subtle. It has had to be, because the ancestors of today’s Americans believed in freedom and were willing to fight and die to preserve it.

Totalitarianism American-style has grown slowly and imperceptibly over many years. This is gradualism.

Much like watching your child grow if you see him every day, there is no perceptible difference until one day you realize the boy you saw yesterday is now a man. American totalitarianism has suddenly become a man.

The signs are all around for those who choose to see. You no longer have to search for them. Thanks to the Internet, which somehow remains out of government’s control, the signs are now appearing in plain sight, even if still only a minority realizes what the signs mean.

The ruling elites — politicians, judges and bureaucrats in government agencies — claim to have our best interests at heart. (I speak here of the ruling elites at the Federal, State and local levels.) The people believe this despite the contrary evidence. In truth, the ruling elites — with few exceptions — are looking out for their own interests, and their own interests are gaining more wealth and more power. That they do so at the expense of those they rule over bothers them not a whit.

That’s because they view the masses as worker bees and themselves as wise and omnipotent rulers. The worker bees are always expendable and replaceable. The ruling elites think nothing of confiscating the fruits of the labor of the worker bees — even to the point of making it unprofitable for the worker bees to continue their efforts — or sending them into battle to die in phony wars under the pretense of patriotism.

Many people, as they read this, will be quick to blame Barack Obama or George W. Bush. They would be both right and wrong. Obama and Bush are but two in a long line of human parasites who live or lived off the masses through deception and manipulation. The line includes Presidents current and past, Congresses current and past, Governors and State legislatures current and past, and local governments current and past. They are the true 1 percent.

The mindset that drives the ruling elites has been around for thousands of years. The actions of the ruling elites are evident throughout history and their methods and results can be studied. Unfortunately, there are few people today who study and understand history (that is to say history that has not been varnished by the elites). That’s why the elites are able to continue their ways.

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were drafted by men who understood history and how the political and social order is the creation of evil men who wish to rule humanity. So they created a document meant to put shackles on those who would impose authoritarianism and tyranny. But the Founders didn’t count on Americans becoming ignorant and complacent. They presumed that Americans would be ever vigilant against the evil forces of the ruling elites and would value their freedom and liberties more even than their creature comforts.

How wrong they were. Americans have grown more ignorant, given into fear and sloth, and chosen to cede their freedoms and liberties for the false hope of protection and leisure. As long as the elites, aided by their propaganda ministers in the mainstream media, proclaim they are not stealing any liberties but are simply doing what must be done to keep everyone “safe,” Americans readily accept it as gospel.

America has played right into the hands of the ruling elites who demonstrated the patience of Job while waiting for this to occur.

We now live in a state of perpetual war. The so-called War on Terror has been going on for decades; it began long before it was ever given that name. There is no end in sight. Our government tells us that there are enemies to the left of us and enemies to the right. And when those enemies run out, there are enemies in our own neighborhoods and in our own families.

Over the past few years, we have learned that enemies of America are people who:

  • Believe in smaller government.
  • Believe the 10th Amendment is still valid.
  • Buy items using cash.
  • Store food and water for their own use.
  • Buy weapons.
  • Served in the military.
  • Display Gadsden flags (once a symbol of America’s struggle for freedom).
  • Photograph landmarks.
  • Videotape police officers.
  • Oppose gun laws.
  • Petition government (which was once a right guaranteed under the 1st Amendment).

Even people who support Ron Paul’s Presidential candidacy are considered domestic terrorists and feared by the elites, who work overtime in back rooms in order to ensure Paul’s message of liberty is contained.

We now have a President who has determined he can be the sole judge and jury and decide who should be executed. Congress says little and does nothing and is, therefore, complicit. This effectively annulled the 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments.

We have a President who has decided he alone — with approval of the United Nations or NATO and in direct violation of the Constitution — can decide whether to send American forces into battle. A meaningless Obama impeachment bill has been introduced, but it is a minor triviality and of no consequence.

Congress passed and the President signed a bill in 2001 — and then reauthorized it on multiple occasions (the USA Patriot Act) — that gives government the authority to conduct warrantless searches of our finances and our communications, regardless of whether we are suspected of being an enemy of America (see above).

Congress passed and the President signed a bill that authorizes government to arrest Americans — even if on U.S. soil — and hold them without charge or trial in a secret location (National Defense Authorization Act).

Congress passed and the President signed a bill (Obamacare) that will require you to enter into a contract to pay for a service (health insurance) you may not want or need. Lower courts’ rulings on the issue have been mixed. The issue was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court last week. Who knows whether the justices will rule correctly, finding that the law should be struck down as unConstitutional?

It is telling — and indicative that the left/right paradigm is a false one — that, going into the Supreme Court hearing, news reports indicated that even Justice Anthony Kennedy and Chief Justice John Roberts may vote to uphold the law. Kennedy was appointed by Ronald Reagan, and Roberts was appointed by Bush. We were told they were conservative justices who would uphold the Constitution.

The FBI is creating “terrorists” and then patting itself on the back when it uncovers and thwarts the terror plots it helped create.

We are now unable to fly by commercial plane — and travel by some trains — without first being subjected to either an intimate patdown/sexual assault or a dose of harmful radiation — and sometimes we get both. This further establishes that the government believes we are all terrorists who must demonstrate our innocence.

Congress recently passed and the President signed a bill that nullified a portion of the 1st Amendment by making it unlawful to protest if a government “official” is in the area. This is subject to the whim of law enforcement.

Local police departments are becoming increasingly militarized and increasingly militant and strident. They now routinely arrest people for taking video of police actions or public meetings, and they confiscate cameras and cellphones. They abuse peaceful protesters. In Chicago, police officers recently told a journalist his “1st Amendment rights can be terminated and have limits.” Unfortunately, the idea that a citizen must obey any order simply because a police officer says so is typical of today’s cop. Ignore a police “order” and you are subject to being tasered and arrested. Children are even being tasered in school.

The medical mafia enlists local police officers to do their dirty work and remove children from parents if the parents try and decide what is best for their children’s health. There are many stories like that of Scott and Jodi Ferris and Maryanne Godboldo.

Your child, who is forced by law to attend public indoctrination centers commonly referred to as schools, must receive a series of harmful vaccinations before being allowed to enter.

The food mafia, under the cover of the Food and Drug Administration, is now arresting people for drinking raw milk, and has made it illegal to own hogs of a certain color. It has determined that walnuts are drugs that should be regulated and that kids should not be allowed to grow and sell rabbits or open lemonade stands.

Local governments have made it illegal to grow “unapproved” flowers and vegetables in yards, smoke in public, eat salty foods, purchase meals that include children’s toys, throw trash into garbage bins or hold Bible studies in homes.

Do you still think you’re free?

Just remember, it’s all for your own good.

    Bob is absolutely right.
The enemy of a Totalitarian regime is FREEDOM.
I wonder what next catastrophic created crisis will it be that erodes the remaining freedom that we have.

    Dear Mr. Livingston:

The so-called elite are winning the destruction of the USA and our freedoms. Too many of the younger generation are clueless….

Opinion: Numerous members of the US Congress are not necessarily evil elitist, they are simply stupid — there is no cure for stupid!

    • Bruce Belligan

The ultimate cure for stupidity is and has always been death.

“Totalitarianism American-style has grown slowly and imperceptibly over many years. This is gradualism.”

Gradualism is the socialists’ favorite tried-and-true tool, and it’s the method they unfailingly trot out to get their way when their direct methods fail. And because its effects are so gradual, so seemingly imperceptible, and so insidious, it’s the first thing these lowlifes employ when all other methods fail. It’s guaranteed effective and has been proven over time again and again. No wonder it’s their #1 go-to weapon. Now for the bad news. Just like the ever-constant bombardment of radiation from the sun, we are continually being manipulated by this ever present force that tries to numb our minds to sway us off course — and it’s why you must always be aware of its dangerous presence.

Well, I heard a couple of people on here get it almost right. America is neither a democracy or a republic. It is a mishmash of those two things, most appropriately termed a democratic republic. As far as what life would be like under a truly totalitarian regime, first and foremost, the internet would never have been allowed to exist, at least in its present form. Maybe, as originally intended, a means for the military to communicate over phone lines, and certain ore-screened students to communicate between schools, but all very heavily regulated and controlled Why do you thing both China and Saudi Arabia have such strict controls on who can show what on the nationally approved and controlled internet?

    • romeyers

America was supposed to be a Representative Republic, the founding fathers hated the idea of a democracy.

    • kodster

They are trying to get the Internet regulated, much like other communist/totalitarian countries. They just haven’t been successful in getting it pushed through, because the people and corporations stand up…. do you remember the SOPA protests recently? The boycotts? That was instrumental in getting it put on hold, but they are still trying to find a way. It won’t be long, we won’t have this resource to communicate with each other.

    • DaveH

And why do you suppose, Chester, that Government keeps trying to impose meddlesome laws on the Internet, always using some lame excuse such as protecting the children from Porn, or protecting Movie and Music producers from online piracy?
      Bills like these:
      http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2012/01/online-piracy-sopa-and-internet-security-pipa-bills-in-congress

The reality of loss of Freedom is that it is much more difficult to roll back tyrannical abuses than it is to be vigilant and stop them before they are implemented.

Like every other communistic, socialistic, marxist country in the world. They will call us the “Democratic Peoples United States”

FEMA has ordered 450 million hollow point bullets.
    What for?
What do they know that we don’t?
Is this ammunition to be used against us citizens?

Why all these millions of plastic coffins in the FEMA camps?
    Something Stinks to Heaven!

Does anybody have more info on this?

    • Raggs

There are many many videos online at You-tube

    • mark

The answer is very simple, Earth, they are going to kill us all. It will start tomorrow at noon. Or if not tomorrow, the next day or the next day or next year. But sooner or later the Federal Government is going to kill us all. Take you family and all the dehydrated and canned goods you can and get to a cave in the mountains. And carry all the guns and ammo that you can also. Maybe 450 million bullets. Then you’ll be safe. You’ll be a real free American. And you won’t have to live in this totalitarian America anymore.

      • Michael J.

        mark,
Well praise be to Rothschild, it sounds as if you’ve had an epiphany.
Actually, I think you’ve been watching to many “Doomsday Preppers” episodes. You know, where Hollywood tries to portray anyone who is paying attention as the village idiot. Alinsky 101, marginalize and belittle your opponents.

Even Mark can’t deny this reality:

But he will probably try some adolescent manipulative tactic anyway.

    • eddie47d

This site rightfully tells everyone to be prepared in times of crises. Yet never wants the government to be prepared for anything. Until after the fact and then some of you would be the first to complain that the government Isn’t prepared for whatever disaster strikes us. Earth has a disconnect in his video where it says “see something say something” . Now if that is wrong then your motto must be “see something do nothing”. Somewhere there has to be a Balance in how we deal with events and disasters not these extreme and paranoid conspiracies. People demanded better security at the airports and now the people are wringing their hands because of government overreach. Keep exposing the misdeeds of TSA but I doubt if they are going away.

      • Michael J.

        eddie47d said:

“People demanded better security at the airports”

Is this another supposition formulated in the empty space between eddie’s ears, or do you have a source?

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

eddie says, “This site rightfully tells everyone to be prepared in times of crises. Yet never wants the government to be prepared for anything. Until after the fact and then some of you would be the first to complain that the government Isn’t prepared for whatever disaster strikes us.”

eddie, you’re on “probation” for wrongfully critisizing PLD and now you stick your foot back in the dung and have the nerve to say that PLD “never wants the government to be prepared for anything”?

If you ever had a clue I’d be surprised…you’re completely disconnected from reality and to continue with your unsubstantiated accusations and critisizm of PLD should warrant the permanent boot you so deserve.

There is no cure for your disease…you can’t be fixed!

      • eddie47d

Not at all Jeff. After 9/11 millions demanded that the government do something about terrorists and I wouldn’t be surprised if you are one of them. Unfortunately you are the one with the disconnect in what is really said and done. You prove it every time.

  • Thinking About

Again we have Cognitive Dissonance, say and read something so long until you believe this is what is happening. I seriously doubt and of the founding fathers used any history to know the world we currently live in today. I doubt they realized planes flying into buildings or the rate in which we have the ability to travel. They set up basics from which to grow, like the foundation of a house which continues to be built to this very day. We WILL not go back to the life in which our founding fathers existed, there is not a time warp available.

For all who thinks they will bully everyone else to believe like they do, it won’t happen. No different in getting every one of the readers to believe their way. This is where some of our freedoms comes into play, the ability to think on our own, and the freedom to express our opinion and we should have some compacity to understand and accept others has the same rights we want to be afforded. To continue in bashing others who do not share your views will not convince free thinkers to go your way, it is time to get real, real in your thoughts and actions.

    • Bruce Belligan

Maybe you should study the founding fathers before you invoke your sheeplike idiocy. This situation is EXACTLY what the founders created our government to protect us from. They gave us the tools, we were to provide the will. We, the people, have failed our founders. Posterity will show future generations what present day America is composed of – gutless cowards. Cowards who willingly abuse future generations and the ones they haven’t slaughtered in the name of “choice”. Enjoy your legacy “America”.

      • Thinking About

Since you are an expert on our founding fathers, tell me which one of them envisioned someone flying a plane into buildings? Only a idiot would remain in thoughts of the world has changed today from the time our Constitution was set up.

      • mark

The Founding Fathers gave us many wonderful things. On this I agree with you. But they also bequeathed to us for nearly a century, a slave society. We should avoid the temptation to canonize the Founding Fathers and to fantasize about the society they lived in. One of the great Founding Fathers, John Adams when he was president shut down newspapers and put people in prison for writing critiques of the government. Most of the Founding Fathers participated in and supported slavery, backed land robbery from Amerindians through violence and terror, and held deep prejudices against Catholics. Many of them only felt that property-holders should have the right to vote. And none imagined that women should ever be granted such a privilege. The Founding Fathers had considerable faults and avarice like all human beings, as well as a beneficent vision for Mankind.

      • Michael J.

        Thinking About,
Your analogy is empty rhetoric because it is not that different from hurling cannonballs through sailing vessels. And the concept of determining right from wrong, thou shall not kill and thou shall not steal are ageless and are the basis on which our constitution was drawn.

      • Brian Corcoran

Don’t forget that The Founding Fathers inherited the slavery system from our British monarchial friends whom they eventually and forcefully ejected from the continent. It was an institution that had been deeply entrenched in the social order of colonial times for over 200 years. It took the new Republic another 75 years to dismantle it. .

      • Flashy

Don’t forget, Britain banned slavery anywhere in the Empire in the 1830′s. And banned the slave trade in the early 19th century.

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

flashy, what you say has no bearing on the discussion…educate yourself…The historical fact is that slavery was not the product of, nor was it an evil introduced by the Founders; slavery was introduced in America nearly two centuries before the Founders. In fact, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Jay noted that there had been few serious efforts to dismantle the institution of slavery prior to the Founding Fathers.
        http://www.christiananswers.net/q-wall/wal-g003.html

      • Michael J.

        Flashy,
I know rearranging facts to support your arguement is your stock in trade.
The British banned the “slave trade”in the eighteenth century when it was strategically significant in the battle to quell The American Revolution. Proof there was no moral inducement is the fact that owning slaves in Britain was still legal.

      • eddie47d

Yes Michael our Founding Fathers had a grand vison but did they always practice what they preached? They stole much land and killed to achieve Their dream. They may be a road map in which to follow but let’s not be blind to their faults.

      • Flashy

Michael..I just looked it up. So in 1803, GB banned the slave trade because it was “strategically significant in the battle to quell The American Revolution” ? Errrr…kinda late in the game and not much strategic value i’d say …

Or perhaps some of the others are correct and you do not have a job but live off the dole. This is at least the 4th ar 5th day since you made the remark that you have posted after 1:00PM.

    • DaveH

We don’t care how you think (or don’t), TA. We care about you using Government as your bully boys to force your ways on the rest of us. Get it? It is your kind who are the Aggressors. We ask simply that you respect us enough to butt out of our life decisions.

      • Thinking About

Davie, I do not care what you think either, and so. I bet you can not find on mises where our founding fathers envisioned planes hitting buildings or even envisioning planes. The main point is they started writing a Constitution and even added to the origional and wrote more to explain the Constitution. I don’t like the mandate of paying for the uninsured in the rates of insurance and health care.Don’t get on your high horse.

  • Matt

@mark – If you had done anything other than read a book then you would know that what Bob is saying is completely correct. If you honestly think you live in a free country you then try going an actually living someplace else then you will know what real freedom is like. Having lived in a foreign country for many years, I can tell you that what we have here in America is the illusion of freedom, not actual freedom itself.

Also, the increased government in our lives is not because they are doing what is best for use. It is because are doing what is best for them. If you think that people would vote for more government in their lives if they knew the truth, you are out of your mind.

If you want to see a real totalitarian society take a look at this videos.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H70MqPnYS3Y

This is how it started in Germany by a short guy with a crappy mustache. hhhmmm…….I wonder who that was?

    • mark

Matt, I’ve lived in and visited several countries around the world, including Cuba, and therefore know that we here in the United States are among the most free people on earth. People in Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand where I have been exercise considerable freedoms but these countries also have a much larger gov’t role in their economies and societies than we have here in the U.S. Most have single payer government health care for instance. I have also lived in Latin America and 2 countries in Africa, and in 2 Middle Eastern countries where people have considerably less freedom, where journalists are routinely arrested for writing critical articles against the government something that does not occur in the United States and the above-mentioned Western nations. By what clairvoyance do you know that I have never done anything but opened a book? It must be wonderful to have this ability to know everything about an individual just by reading a one paragraph blog.

HA, very good point Libertytrain, very good point!!!

      • Karolyn

No, Liberty, you will not catch me attributing education, knowledge or lack thereof to anyone I don’t know anything about. I do not espouse the view that “If somebody doesn’t agree with me they must be stupid or must move to another country, must be unpatriotic, must be a communist,” etc. as so many people who post here seem to believe.

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Libertytrain, I just call them hypocrits. If that isn’t true, then why the need to constantly explain oneself.(or make excuses)

      • DaveH

Mark says — “People in Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand where I have been exercise considerable freedoms but these countries also have a much larger gov’t role in their economies and societies than we have here in the U.S.”.
Okay Folks. Here we have an example of typical Liberal fabricated facts. The truth is that
Canada, Australia, and New Zealand all have LESS Government involvement in their economies than in the US:
        http://heritage.org/index/ranking

Of course, we could ignore the experts at Heritage and instead take the word of a Liberal.

      • DaveH

And before Mark has a chance to do the typical Liberal thing of bashing Heritage Foundation, here is another source for similar information:
        http://www.freetheworld.com

      • DaveH

Karolyn is so comical. She says — “No, Liberty, you will not catch me attributing education, knowledge or lack thereof to anyone I don’t know anything about”. That coming shortly after she says — “They can be presumptuous, can’t they, mark?”.
Look in your mirror, Karolyn, and repeat after me — “I am the fairest one of them all”. Maybe if you do that often enough, you will start to believe it.

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

Karolyn you have indeed grouped together people in one lump many times….remember how postings you had on just your South Carolina alone that were nothing but insults. Problem is you have your own definitions for yourself and then other definitions for others you don’t agree with. You are they as well…

      • http://folkartist.wordpress.com Libertytrain

jeff – yep always have an excuse, always someone else, never take responsibility for their own words or writings —- :) can’t fix it though can they jeff?

      • eddie47d

Dave H keeps bashing Liberals yet Canada,New Zealand and Australia all have national health care. Even though he claims they have less government interference. Nice try Dave and they all have higher ranking care than the US. Your math doesn’t always resonate !.

      • eddie47d

Well if it isn’t “honest” Jeff who loves to accuse others of lying but never tells a whopper or two himself. (chuckle!) That 1.4 billion is correct. The pension was 1.1 billion and with a 3 million golden parachute thrown in. Another CEO with United Healthcare Wm McQuire received a $286 million payout. In 2011 poor little ol CEO Cordani got a measly $15 million for one year. The profit for UH last year was $4.6 billion. WOW! More bonuses for the elites while the patients get stuck with the bills. By the way I belonged to U H for several years and they were formed in 1977.

RON PAUL NOW ! RON PAUL NOW ! RON PAUL NOW ! RON PAUL NOW !

  • Colonel

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were drafted by men who understood history and how the political and social order is the creation of evil men who wish to rule humanity. We have had the best there is to give us a white washing and keep our attention away from the main issues concerning our freedoms. Stand up now and face those who oppose the working American! Sit on your ass and they will take everything you have and leave your children with nothing.

    • mark

Colonel, while I certainly, along with you, admire both documents, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights were mostly written by slaveholders. Since you are condemning white washing, why don’t we quit white washing history? And stop fantasizing about this wonderland America that flourished in Eden until those evil monsters Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt came along, and “ruined” everything. (This is the standard libertarian narrative).

      • romeyers

I wish that people would stop applying 2012 morality to people that lived in the 1700s. Yes some of the people that wrote the constitution owned slaves, so did everyone else that could afford it. But even then it was thought that it was a bad thing with many abolitionists within the governing body. Many states voted to abolish slavery well before the civil war, which is how that war came about.

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

mark, mark, mark…get off your “slave” high horse. Of course some of the founders were slave holders. DUH!

One of the most frequent tactics employed to discredit America’s Founding Fathers is to say that the Founding Fathers were all pro-slavery racists and hypocrites. Therefore, why should we care what their views were on any subject? African-American professor Walter Williams wisely explained the use of this tactic in these words:

“Politicians, news media, college professors and leftists of other stripes are selling us lies and propaganda. To lay the groundwork for their increasingly successful attack on our Constitution, they must demean and criticize its authors. As Senator Joe Biden demonstrated during the Clarence Thomas hearings, the framers’ ideas about natural law must be trivialized or they must be seen as racists.”

These people paint a false picture of the Founding Fathers and the issue of slavery. The historical fact is that slavery was not the product of, nor was it an evil introduced by the Founders; slavery was introduced in America nearly two centuries before the Founders. In fact, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Jay noted that there had been few serious efforts to dismantle the institution of slavery prior to the Founding Fathers.

The Revolution was a turning point in the national attitude against slavery—and it was the Founders who contributed greatly to that change. In fact, one of the reasons given by Thomas Jefferson for the separation from Great Britain was a desire to rid America of the evil of slavery imposed on them by the British.

I suggest you educate yourself a bit more on the issue of slavery with the Founders.

Mark says — “Colonel, while I certainly, along with you, admire both documents, the U.S.
You’re such an ignoramus, Mark. Libertarians don’t whitewash anything. In fact, if you’d take off your Liberal blinders and do some reading at the mises site, you’d find that they are among the very few who actually write history in an unbiased way:
        http://mises.org/literature.aspx?action=source&source=Online+Books
Especially, you should read some Rothbard books.
You constantly bring up the past slaveholders, Mark, as if that denigrates any good which they had brought forth, and yet you support the current enslavement of our citizens by the Progressives. I call you out as a hypocrite.

The Founders never meant America to be a Democracy. It was meant to be and is a Republic. As Ben Franklin observed when asked what the Constitutional Convention had gotten us, he said, sagely: “A Republic, if we can keep it”.

Moments from the Tribulation hrs and 7 yrs from its beginning Jesus Christ will be back to fry the elites in a place of your worst nightmare. America changed its God from Christ to Government, the same type of govt in Russia, China, Cambodia, Germany, Burma, ya know the benevolent leftists, that slaughter millions and millions and millions. Where are YOU spending eternity? Living one life with those scum is more than enough. I am looking forward to a place with NO LIBS. Those idiots don’t believe in God they still think of evolution, like nothing times nothing means everything. How appropriate, yesterday was there national Holiday.

d4jc – How ever so true are you about what is going to happen next on the prophetic timeline. Don’t want to be around during the earth’s ugliest and most violent 7 year period before Christ returns to earth to set up his millennium reign. And when that glorious day arrives they will receive their just rewards aptly!!!!!

I hate to be the fly in your ointment, but Jesus told the apostles that he would return before their generation passed. I’m afraid you’re going to be watching and waiting for a Messiah who has already come to fulfill his kingdom, which he said was not of this earth.

And if he is still yet to come, you’ll need a temple before it can happen. So don’t hold your breath on his return being tommorrow.

    • nc

d4jc, have you truly heard the voice of God tell you that a person who belives in evolution cannot be as good a person as you,the “Christian”? Judge not that ye be judged! Where did I hear that as a child?

    • eddie47d

You fell into that trap that Bob was talking about blaming the left (in your case) or the right when each side is doing the same thing. Germany was extreme right wing and Burma has been run by an extreme right wing military junta for several decades. Myanmar (Burma) is slowly moving away from that dictatorship and the charge is being led by a very strong Progressive Liberal (Kyi). I see hope in that nation but I also believe the generals won’t allow it to last. Cambodia’s leftist regime was more than a nightmare and that country hasn’t fully recovered either. If the extreme left or the extreme right gets into power the populace will equally suffer.

    • Karolyn

It is simply not true that libs don’t believe in God. Many believe in your concept and many also believe in a different concept of God. None of us can prove any of it, so we just wait and see what comes to pass. You find comfort in the Bible, and I find comfort in my beliefs, as it should be.

Unfortunately, I am afraid it is too late, and that there are not enough of “us” left. A recent poll showed that 76% of all Americans receive a check from the government now. Be it welfare, food stamps, HUD housing, Social Security, SS disability insurance, or a PAY CHECK (those who work in these agencies surely do not want to lose their jobs). It’s amazing to wake up in this day and time, at this age, and look back and try to figure out WHEN did it start and why I didn’t see it coming. Shameful that my kids and grand kids will never know the life that I lived.

    • Michael J.

“Some 48.6% of the population lived in a household receiving some type of government benefit in the second quarter of 2010, up a notch from 48.5% in the first quarter, according to Census data.”

“Seventeen percent of U.S. workers say they work for federal, state, or local government, ranging from 38% in Washington, D.C., to 12% in Ohio. More than a quarter of workers in Washington, D.C., Alaska, Virginia, and Maryland work for government, as do upwards of 15% in the vast majority of states.”

The second quote is from a Gallup pole the source of the first quote dissapeared in the copy and paste.

The totals nationwide according to these numbers is 65.6% of Americans receiving some kind of government check/benefits. In some areas of the country it is as high as 86,6%.

I’m afraid it is too late for those of us that are my age, but if we can some how convince our children and grandchildren of the dangers that are present and ahead them, then just maybe they will have a chance to change the direction this country is headed….

      Elton Coleman,
Maybe not if you’ve enrolled them in government indoctrination centers/schools. Send little innocent Johnnie and Suzie off to college and when they come home you might have a big government informant living in your midst.

    • kodster

Elton, I wish it was so easy… I have 2 daughters that went through public schools here in the USA. It is next to impossible to explain to them what is going on in the world and our freedoms being eroded here in the USA… they think their mother is crazy. They are now in their early ’30s and late ’20s. They’ve drunk the kool-aid so much, that I’ve lost them, and worry about their well-being in the world I know is coming. But I can’t say anything to them without alienating them and having them cut me off from their lives.

  • http://www.ifonlyphotos.com Alex Frazier

Good article Bob. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

  • mark

Bob, if you had lived five minutes in a real totalitarian society: Stalin’s Russia, Hitler’s Germany, Mao’s China, Kim Il-Sung’s North Korea, or Castro’s Cuba, you would know what a ludicrous argument you are making here. But of course, you never have. Personal Liberty Digest would never be allowed to exist in such societies and you would be picked up, tortured, put in prison, and probably executed for voicing your views in this manner. Not to mention that there would be no political parties, non-government-run newpapers, news programs, art, commerce, individual achievement, religion, or a Ron Paul campaign in such real totalitarian societies.

Despite an increased government role in their lives (which many, by the way, agree with and deliberately voted into office by large majorities politicians who implemented Social Security, Medicare, etc), Americans continue to enjoy an enormous amount of freedom and will continue to do so for many centuries to come.

    • czman

And you have…? Our freedom is severely limited now and constantly shrinking. It is not centuries, but months or days until it is gone. Get your head out of the sand…

    • Michael J.

      little mark,
“Personal Liberty Digest would never be allowed to exist”

Sure sounds like a threat to me mark.

      • mark

It sounds like a threat to you because you did not read what I wrote. In a truly totalitarian society a blog like Personal Liberty Digest (and also by the way a left-leaning publication like the New York Times) would never be allowed to exist? Do you think there was a free press and daily published dissent against the government in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Kim Il Sung’s Korea or Castro’s Cuba? The heroic individuals who protested and published against such governents were as I noted arrested, tortured, imprisoned, and in many cases murdered. This is the historical record. In a true totalitarian society no public dissent is permitted. This is the proof that we DO NOT live in a truly totalitarian society here in the United States.

      • Michael J.

        mark,
Still sounds like a threat to me mark. A veiled warning which stinks of censorship. You would rather hear silence than face irrefutable truth.

      mark,
HA, you dummy, go back and read the third paragraph. On second thought, let me give you a hand. . . “Totalitarianism American-style has grown slowly and imperceptibly over many years. This is gradualism.” Gradualism – that is why we have what we have here and due to this it has no immediate similarities to those that were forcefully implemented that you have listed. The final goal, un-recognized or accepted by you, remains the same. Progressive Gradualism – very effective. Gradualism is the Progressives method which leads to a basic communistic state of totalitarianism. Pretty easy to understand.

TIME, I have 2 Jewish friends (both in their 80s) who also survived the Holocaust. They both Thank God that they now live in the United States, a free country that they love. I can assure you that they are elated that they no longer live in totalitarian Nazi Germany. But according to you and Bob Livingston, both these Jewish-Americans are fools, idiots, dupes. They actually live today in a society very much like Nazi Germany with only very slight differences between the two countries. I and my two Jewish friends strongly disagree. We are not fools, dupes,or idiots. We live in an America that is profoundly and massively different from Nazi Germany, far freer and more democratic society in innumerable ways (multi-party elections, free press, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, trial by jury, habeus corpus, freedom of association, freedom to own firearms, free enterprise economy, freedom to own property, etc. etc. etc,). None of which existed in Nazi Germany.

I have to agree with you we don’t at this point live in a totalitarian society, however, those societys you mentioned didn’t just spring full blown into existence. The came about over many years through the actions or inactions of many different people who if you could ask them would tell you that they had the welfare of the people as theyre primary objective. It happens slowly until one day you turn around look about you and say”How did that happen?”

Keep drinking the kool-aid, Mark. We are on the cusp of becoming such a totalitarian country… the parallels between our American society and pre-Hitler Nazi Germany is uncanningly frightening. It is only a matter of months now, rather than years or decades… that’s the reason why the push is so hard now… they know it’s only a matter of the final steps to be made… 150 years in the making, since the president that everyone loved so much, Abraham Lincoln, started us down the progressive track. The oligarchy of communism is in place, MSM is being bullied into compliance, so that the American people don’t see what is happening… only those of us with eyes wide open and knowledgeable about what true communism and totalitarism is can see it.

  • http://www.poorgrandchildren.com poorgrandchildren.com

We absolutely have degenerated from a republic toward a de-mob-ocracy. In fact, the reason our country is turning upside down is that we are gradually accepting the lie that we have a “wonderful” democracy instead of the republic mandated by our founders in Article 4, Section 4 of our not-a-living-document Constitution. Dear Bob,

Thank you again for the straight forward blog that highlites the TRUTHS that so many Americans on the People Farm just don’t wish to hear nor deal with.

How sad is it that Americans are so quick to jump when told to, they don’t even think anylonger its just to easy to react to what they are told is a Danger. That is rather than look at the real evidence.
No its just to easy to take the 2 second sound bite LIES given out by the 100% totaly controlled Mass media that was 100% scripted by Spin Doctor arm of the Political Con Artist thugs who feel they are in fact GODS themselfs.

I have traveled the world, the one thing I take from all my travels is that people everywhere are connected by our Humanity no matter what color, race, or religion.
Thus If we treat others as we would like to be treated, with Respect, Love, and Kindness, how beautiful the world would be.
Again if we treat each other ” Like we would like to be treated” I strongly feel that the worlds population could live with each other in “PEACE.”
Is that not what the Christ wanted for all Human Kind?

    Peace and Love.

The most common form of government thru out history is the oligarchy. Also most revolutions because of their nature collapse into an oligarchy. Even our own almost did but the founders fought with each other with many words (See federalist papers) till they settled on a Constitutionally LIMITED Republic.

    • TIME

      Brian,

You have been stripped of your rights by way of the “PEN” not the sword.
Thus to regain them we must use the PEN as well, not the Sword.

I strongly feel that knowledge is the most useful and Powerful tool we have as it gives everyone Power.

When we stop supplying these Thugs we call Politicians with willing aid by way of TAX’S and compliance to their acts of terror against us, then we can take back this nation with out spilling a drop of blood.

I do how ever understand your frustration, as it seems that we have a very corupt form of Government, yet again we don’t have a Government, we have a DE Facto Corporation.

When the People Farm wakes up and grasp that – only then can we make any headway in taking back our nation / country. Take up the PEN and hold off on the Sword, I beg you to please think about the actions of the Sword over the Pen and what ramifications would be brought to bear on the population with such actions.

      Peace and Love.

People Farm? Makes me think of the movie, “Animal Farm”, that my US History teacher in high school showed to his classes. Thank you, Mr. Howard Frey, for opening our eyes to the communist way of thinking, and educating us to the truth of what we must fear most. Mr. Frey was an excellent teacher, and a rebel in today’s world of brain-washing educators. He wanted his students to know the truth, and to think for themselves! Of course, that was back in ’73 & ’74! Not in TODAY’s schools!

Good Article Bob!__You’ve got everything covered under one roof!

__America’s failing lies in our laps and in the actions of those who’ve allowed themselves to become corrupt. We put our trust in those we elected (I use that term very loosly) and we went about our lives and didn’t keep watch. I’m just a s guitly as the next guy._Little by little we’ve been infiltrated and our freedoms chipped away. We didn’t ask questions and we’ve gotten sloppy at keeping educated as adults.

You spoke of The Education system of today, Bob, heck our kids are taught what to think, not how to think! Then there is the moral issues of the most students, although not all. Alot of what is graduating high school/college today, can’t find their way out of a paper bag, I’m sad to say. The kids major & minors anymore is, sex, booze and weed, and If the students have time, in between the partyin’ they’ll study.

Between the Moral and complacency issues among the people, and the corrupt nature of politics/politicians, Government and business practice in general anymore, its no wonder we’re going under.

The only thing that hasn’t changed is “God”!

Ben Franklin said “its a republic if we can keep it”. But We can only keep if the people keep control of themselves and they’re affairs, and our leaders bind their egos and they’re inccessant need to control every inch of our lives!!!!

There is a lot wrong here, but it lies in indidvidual hearts & hands. Each of us taking care of our own lives and family first, then joining into a collective, to form a whole.

So are the majority of posters on this board.

BTW…being a Communist doesn’t necessarily mean a non belief in a god. Remember, organized religion is the great invention used from time Man started living in city/states to control the masses. Cuba would be an example where the Catholic faith is widely accepted.

Flashy: Remember, organized religion is the great invention used from time Man started living in city/states to control the masses. Cuba would be an example where the Catholic faith is widely accepted.

Religion/law was not invented, Flashy, it was a gift. And, it was in practice long before man started living in city/states. I’ll agree with one thing; some, do use religion to control people, ie; the Vatican, among other cults. But that is an issue of character, not religion.

    • Dennis48e

“Cuba would be an example where the Catholic faith is widely accepted.’

That is because Castro failed in his attempt to stamp it out.

  • Vicki

    The OP writes:

When envisioning a totalitarian regime, most American people imagine concentration camps, soldiers roaming the streets demanding “papers” and people disappearing in the dead of night. Totalitarianism American-style is more subtle.

WAS more subtle. What with the militarization of the Police that you mentioned we now have “soldiers” roaming the streets demanding “papers”. Usually your drivers license and insurance but also in this case where the police wanted to see his papers to make sure he wasn’t a felon in possession of a firearm.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BwQQSo9YX4

And now with the NDAA, police harassment of journalists with video cameras and that new law about not protesting near government officials, totalitarianism in America has stopped being subtle.

    • Michael J.

      Vicki,
I agree, the remaining subtlety in totalitarianism government is so slight that it is difficult to detect or describe.

Bob’s words otherwise seem to quote my thoughts in an A to Z spectrum of current societal analysis. For example, I regard the Internet as one of our most valuable assets rivaling the first and second amendments in it’s importance.

While the frogs are now simmering, those of us who scour the web have jumped clear of the pot. The remaining luke warmed amphibians blissfully floating in their recliner chair boob tube viewing chambers with remotes in hand are destined for serfdom in a way their complacency has not yet imagined. (What do you mean we no longer live in a free America???).

      • mark

Michael J, “I agree, the remaining subtlety in totalitarianism government is so slight that it is difficult to detect or describe.” Oh really? Well let me describe a few of the sublte differences for you. In Stalin’s totalitarian Soviet Union, there was no free press that criticized the government. In the U.S., thousands of media outlets and blogs (including this one) constantly criticize the government. In Stalin’s state, all multiparty elections were outlawed. In the U.S. multi-party elections are held almost constantly, every 2 and 4 years at the federal level and virtually every year at the state, county, and local level. In Stalin’s state, no freedom of religion was permitted. In the U.S., hundreds of thousands of churchs, synagogues, mosques, and temples flourish, filled to capacity with worshippers. In Stalin’s state, no habeus corpus, trial by jury with representation by attorney existed. Hundreds of thousands of examples of this occur every year in America’s courts. In Stalin’s state, no right to assembly was permitted. The recent tea party rallies and OWS protests demonstrate how this freedom is still very much alive in the U.S.A. In Stalin’s Russia, private property was prohibited. Over one hundred million Americans own their own homes, private businesses, or enterprises. In Stalin’s Russia 100% of all workers were employees of the central state, in the U.S. around 11% are (this does not include another 10% who work for local gov’t). In Stalin’s state no individual had a right to own a firearm, the current United States has the highest rate of private gun ownership of any society in world history. In Stalin’s Russia, in both peace and war, all 18 year olders were immediately conscripted into the armed forces. Conscription has been outlawed in the U.S. for forty years now and was only enforced in our history during wars and emergencies.

But you’re right. I stand corrected. These differences between a classic totalitarian state like Stalin’s and 2012 America are so tiny and so miniscule that they are almost undetectable at this point. We virtually live in Stalin’s Russia today, Michael, just as black is white and night is day and 2+2=5.

      • Michael J.

        mark,
Stalin’s Russia and Castro’s Cuba were overun by all out military communist revolution as dictated by the Communist Manifesto.

Realizing this would never work in the west, they turned communist revolution into communist evolution in a slow generational process. The Communist Manifesto was reworded in a way thought digestable by the west which was re-dubbed “Political Correctness”, whose mandates and end goals are virtually identical. Though the time scale that seperates the two tactics are different, the end results are the same.

The fact that you can not discern the snails pace transformation, is a sign of their cleverness that they no doubt appreciate.

      • GALT

Well Mr Livingston if I understand you correctly your argument is; We are NOT a democracy, and then you list a string of anecdotal and somewhat relative evidence, and conclude that ergo, we are under the thumb of a totalitarian regime.

Given the premise and your conclusion one wonders why you have not been arrested and rendered to some foreign land where you can be silenced for the threat you pose…..and this is almost as much of a mystery as the gentleman who poses such a threat to the power companies, and whose “secret” is so dangerous, that you better get it now,
BEFORE THEY SHUT HIM DOWN! but which hasn’t happened…..yet? ( and never will! )

While you have this amazing reverence for the founder’s, the founders did not seem to share that same reverence for the people, intellectually or in their capacity for vigilance,
otherwise a democracy would have seemed to be the obvious choice. Yet the only thing
that was offered to the people on the federal level, was the right to vote for congressional
representatives. Judges were appointed, Senators chosen by the states, and the President by the electoral college. ( or failing that the House )

Even the process of Ratification was a restricted one, all or nothing, with some amazing bits of skullduggery to limit or avoid the complications of any extensive debate, and where the term “founders” is in actuality, reduced to two of the three author’s of the Federalist Papers……to one of which you owe a great deal, and you have a Bill of Rights because he changed his mind. ( historically the Federalist Papers have been accorded much more
influence than they actually had……and the all or nothing part, as well as the debt owed
were probably more influential.) see Ratification: the People’s Debate of the Constitution.

As for the “ruling elite”, this seems to be a little nebulous and it becomes difficult to cite the government as the source…..especially if they have been corrupted……which means bought and paid for……making them neither the rulers or the elite……and begging the question……bought and paid for by whom and for what purpose?

So while all the “problems” you cite are in fact “problems” to be solved, they can not be solved unless the source of those problems is actually identified……since you do nothing
to make any of this any clearer, you pose no threat. ( nor do you have any solutions.)

I submit to you sir, that the sources of corruption are myriad, which each pursuing their
own perceived self interest, attempting to keep what they have, and wanting MORE.
Many of these are immortal and stateless, legally compelled to seeks profits without
moral constraint and without any consideration for the public well being. They are effectively larger than most countries and beyond the reach of all……free to play all against all……and finding the cost of corrupting any of them, a mere inconvenience.

Government’s, including ours, are simply facilitator’s of this process……and there is
nothing more delightful or useful to them, than voices citing the government as the problem whose solution is to disempower or defund the only mechanism that has kept them in check this long…….after all, one does not have to bother to continue to corrupt, that which has been rendered impotent?

        Dear Galt,

That is quite a piece of historical revisionism. Are you paid extra for creativity?

        Best wishes,
        Bob

        SIC him Bob!!!

      • kkflash

        Galt,
You’ve taken a lot of time to try and blame corporations and financial influence for the failures of government to meet, but not exceed, its mandates as described in our Constitution. You seem to have missed the point of the article, which is that our individual rights are being gradually curtailed by misapplication of the powers of government. Redirecting the blame for government overreach to some nameless corporation does not justify the power-grabbing actions of our elected representatives. In fact, doing so magnifies the wrong they have done to us, their constituents, by adding infidelity to the list of ways in which they have failed us.

      • GALT

Well Mr. Livingston, if you could direct me to the paymaster, I’ll see what it’s worth…unfortunately I think you over estimate your value….and you are certainly no threat
to the government, because they put really dangerous people in jail, like Irwin Schiff.

As for what has been revised, any specific citation would be helpful…..or you could read the book…….since most of the previous available material, essentially focused on the
“insider” stuff……( like the two volume The Debate on the Constitution. )
and if you are opposed to the strong central government, your interests
would be more appropriately aligned with the anti-federalists.

As for the unconstitutionality of the health care bill, good luck…..forcing people to participate or buy something has already occurred….and that was when the constitution was still in effect……you would know it as Social Security? Of course it is actually a voluntary program…..26 CFR 31.3402 (p) just as the health care bill is……since there is no means to enforce the mandate, and actually specific provisions against any enforcement….unconstitutional doesn’t even enter into it.

As for the other gentleman, if you doubt the power of corporations or the fact that they have no loyalty to to any country, you might profit from reading Power Inc. by David
Rothkoph, which begins in Sweden around 1100 with the oldest, still existing corporation in the world…….I assure you it is history which may be a little different than you’re familiar with…….but you don’t have to, abuse of power is heavily reliant on willfull ignorance….
all that is required to maintain the Social Security Program is the belief that it is mandatory.

I believe that is far more response than this rather weak attempted criticism was worth,
        so until next time……

      • Ron Christopher

Actually, we never lived in a free nation. We live in a nation of laws, which prohibits us from being free. If we were free then we would have no taxes, no need to buy a drivers license, etc. Further, we do not live in a democracy, we live in a Republic.

      • GALT

No? A republic? Really? You mean like it says in the Pledge of Allegiance, which is recited every day of school? Of course this same pledge also says, “with liberty and justice for all”!

      • http://www.facebook.com/david.a.deal David A Deal

Mark has it right. This is just a pile of paranoia. Sure we have stupid laws in certain states and we as people challenge them as we should. The police being able to stop a citizen from filming them in public is crap and people will put an end to that for it reeks of secrecy and gives police too much power. Cops have to be accountable for their actions if they cross the line. Of course we have places like Arizona which is taking over the line action against Hispanics to vent their bigotry. A recent school board decision that was supported by their governor ended a Mexican/American studies class because ignorant people in charge with clear bigotry were scared to let people hear the truth about certain aspects of history and have honest discussions about those things and how they relate in today’s world. It reeked of the book burning mentality.

Mr. Livingston , If you ask 1 0 people , what is a democracy, I bet you gona get 1 0 different answers . Does any one know the correct definition . Mr. Romney is being pumped to be the Republican Messiah …ALL BECAUSE BUSH SENIOR SAID SO , past CHRISTMAS week . Now, we watch every Republican BIG DOG endorse Mitt Romney , because daddy BUSH said so . …Mr. Romney is going to carry on where Obama is . It is no wonder the BIBLE call us people SHEEP . We do what we are told because the top dog said so . AMERICA’s monetary system with Federal Reserve expires next year , and that will force AMERICA to either re new the current contract with Federal Reserve , OR START OVER . …No matter who the president is , our monetary system changes . OR CONTINUE , BUSINESS AS USUAL . Congress does not want to miss a paycheck , is primary reason RON PAUL has been blacklisted by the media . From what I see RON PAUL does not follow the top dog . I will continue to support RON PAUL . T i m

My response what is Democracy it is a system that should be abolished. Here is what Churchill said it is the worst system but nothing has been found, he went on to say speak to an average voter for minutes. The politicians buy votes in the form of offering the voter Goodies, such as if I am elected I shall provide all kid free lunch at school, or perhaps offer all citizens free gas for two weeks each year.
Then comes special interest group support our interest and we shall fund you political campaign.
Perhaps we should replace by another system that will remove the incentive of bribing the voter.

You will get 10 different answers cause there are 10 different ways to describe the evil beast called democracy. Here are a few.

        1. 2 wolves and a lamb voting on dinner
        2. Mob rule
        3 Tyranny of the majority
        4 3000 tyrants 1 mile away replacing 1 tyrant 3000 miles away

      • Reykool

TIM I support Ron Paul 100%,
Now about “Democracy” there is ONLY one definition for it . DEMOCRACY is NOT an English word (England don’t know what Democracy is anyway, ask the Queen or the prime minister who is always picked by the Rothschilds … they enslave the world for centuries including America) IT IS A GREEK WORD (in English) GOVERNED BY THE PEOPLE….when was the last time the American people “governed” themselves ?
The United States was NEVER a Democracy (pure Democracy does not exist) It was originally a CONSTITUTIONAL FEDERAL REPUBLIC…but Today the United States is a managed centrally planned economy much like the old Soviet Union with the FEDERAL RESERVE taking over the role of the Politburo, WE ARE IN FACT A CORPORATIST OLIGARCHY which is a merger between BIG GOVERNMENT and BIG CORPORATIONS (or CARTELS) Communism, Corporatism, or fascism give all the power to a small group or “Elite” who make the decisions and “rules” for the ignorant and obedient masses : those who are bitching but do not do anything about it…Incredibly the American idiots are ready to “vote” for corporatist stooges like Mitt Rodney, Sarah Palin, Gingrich or WORST Rick Santorum with part of the “package” the bombing or Iran more Tax breaks for millionaires and more military contractors like KBR incorporating in Caiman Island and pay no US tax while charging the Pentagon $800 for hammers and contaminated water for our troops….

      • Bill

I’m with you Tim, don’t give up.

    • Flashy

Vicki…re; your comments about police demanding “papers”. But… isn’t this the case with Arizona’s Immigration law ? It’s touted as the path to follow to ‘control’ illegal immigration. Be stopped by a cop for whatever reason, and they can demand to see “papers” proving you are in this country legally. Wonder how may “Canadian looking” people this will affect?

The right, by cheering on the passage of the unPatriotic Act, by remaining in steadfast support as BushII/Cheney “fought” terrorism, allowed the police state to become a normal facet of our everyday lives.

Oh today they whine and moan, and blame it on everyone but themselves. Fact is, had there been one iota of pushback by the Conservative ‘patriotic” TPers, those laws would not have been passed. instead, those who stood against them were denigrated and insulted and pushed aside because it was more important to ‘protect” themselves than to fight for our liberties. Oh how patriotic of them to now blame others.

We have this noisy contingent who even now states there is to be no compromise. With untutored minds, clinging to robotic recitations of dogma, harsh judgments, harsh divisions, and uncompromising positions, they cause stalemate on any protections of American freedoms and liberties and claim “victory” when such are defeated.

They hold firmly to believe what they are told, fail to think independently, and grasp upon simplistic unworkable solutions to complex problems. They castigate the “liberals” (in their mind those to the left of Attila the Hun) for being unable to draft a budget for this nation, all the while working hard to ensure any budget is uncompromising in benefiting the wealthy and Big Corporations and cutting any benefit to the 99% of Americans who are not within the “Club”.

Take the recent budget passed by the House. It slashes taxes to big Corporate America and the wealthy while slashing at the monies for food and medical aid to the Middle and Low income Classes. And they fervently believe what they are told, that this “budget” can balance the budget by finding trillions in tax loopholes … approx. $700 billion in loopholes each year. And…this is the best part…because they are told, they ask no proof..such as..just exactly what “loopholes” will be eliminated? (Ans..the Ryan Budget doesn’t say)

They decry “regulations” which protect us. Financial oversight, food and environmental safety, safety standards protecting workers, infrastructure, R&D into new technologies. Overhaul of our broken medical care system.

And then they attack the problems created by their demands without providing solutions other than insist we return to an agrarian society and withdraw our empire from history.

And now? Yep….they are demanding what they allowed to now be halted. And yes, blaming it on everyone but themselves.

The kind of patriotism that just gives you goosebumps all over knowing these stalwart fine folk are there to protect America’s back. .

      • Sirian

Wooohhh, looks like you got a bad case of the Monday whines Flasho. Just saying. . .

      • Flashy

Sirian…naw, just the article kind of pushed the wrong buttons by railing against exercise of governmental powers while not placing appropriate blame. There’s enough to go around, with the significant portions of the powers being railed against are those implemented during the 00′s. And of those major intrusions, those who stood tall and brave against them were the ones most of the posters on this site, and their ilk, denigrated and castigated as being “pro-Muslim” or some other bogey man created for them to be scared of …but one cannot ascertain that in reading this article .

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Yeah flashy, you’ve been “love stricken” by the very “people” Mr. Livingston mentioned in his commentary. But I guess you have to place the blame somewhere, so go ahead and blame the evil Tea Party…at least deer bob and Alex and a couple other libs might agree with you.

        Repeat after me, I’M A PROGRESSIVE, I’M A PROGRESSIVE, I’m A PROGRESSIVE! There, wasn’t that easy?

Flashman says — “We have this noisy contingent who even now states there is to be no compromise. With untutored minds, clinging to robotic recitations of dogma, harsh judgments, harsh divisions, and uncompromising positions, they cause stalemate on any protections of American freedoms and liberties and claim “victory” when such are defeated”.
“no compromise”. Give it up, Flashdunce, you’re talking to intelligent people here — not your fellow Liberals. We know that “compromise” is a meaningless manipulative word used by people like yourself to fool unintelligent people into accepting further degradation of their Freedom. What’s interesting is that Progressives whine about lack of “Compromise” when they present bills to increase Spending, but they remain silent about “Compromise” when Conservatives present bills to decrease the Spending. It turns out that the Progressive idea of “Compromise” is a One-Way Street.
And talk about “robotic recitations of dogma”, virtually every time Flashman comments he includes fabricated facts which he apparently figures people will start to believe if he repeats them often enough — Propaganda, in other words.
Flashman, you have no credibility on this board. Ask me to prove it.

      • DaveH

Flashman tries to place the blame for Big Government on the Conservatives, then in the very same comment he cheer leads Bigger Government with statements like this — “They decry “regulations” which protect us. Financial oversight, food and environmental safety, safety standards protecting workers, infrastructure, R&D into new technologies. Overhaul of our broken medical care system”.
Good Grief, Flashman. Do you have any scruples at all?
A Sociopath is a person who will do or say whatever he can get away with to achieve his goals — damn any kind of morality. I think Flashman fits that mold pretty darn well.

      • Sirian

OK, yes, I agree – “There’s enough to go around, with the significant portions of the powers being railed against are those implemented during the 00’s.” 00’s, yes – 1908 to be more specific. TR initiated it, the Progressive Party, if you remember correctly. So, that “00” I will agree with. Not what you are obviously inferring.

      • absolutely amazed

Flashy’s correct – the Regressives want papers for those whom they don’t like, and to deny papers for whom they want not to vote. The recent campaign to restrict voting rights to those who drive automobiles, etc., is proof certain – the Regressive,Tea Party totalitarian state.

The dictator happens to be the one right wing controlling vote on the Supreme Court, or the one filibustering Tea Partier in the Senate – that is where our government is an absolute failure.

      • Duane

Sounds like you are describing the democrats and liberals all, Flashy. As a matter of fact is sounds exactly like the democrats and left wing libetards.

Tell us Flashy, how do you propose that we control illegal aliens in this country? Are you suggesting that we handle it like we might if someone figured out a way to get inside the gates of DisneyWorld? That is to say if they can get in they are free to ride all the rides and take in the sights. All they have to do is get past the gate.

Dumb, Dumber, Obummar…and there is the Diktator & Liar in Chief’s Propaganda Minister “Flashy”, ….trying to brainwash people like the self acclaimed comminists Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels (I am sure “Flashy” doesn,t even know who that is) and Saul Alinsky….Hey Flashy, you like communism so much, how come you don’t move to Cuba, Venezuela, Russia – to mention a few, you can have such a great life there.

      • Michael Beglin

You blame Bush/Cheney for the PATRIOT Act, when in fact it was the House and Senate that had to approve it. In the first place, no legislation is to be introduced by the President, but by Congress. Secondly, Obama took the PATRIOT Act, gave it steroids and buffed it up, called it our last NDAA, and made it even more illegal than it already was.

During his campaign, Obama blamed Bush for ALL of our countries problems, promised to go back to Constitutional rule, promised to do away with anything unConstitutional, and stop needlessly killing our soldiers.

The fact is, Obama has lied about EVERY SINGLE ONE of his campaign promises. Obama is more George Bush than George Bush is. Obama is a liar, plain and simple. You know how you can tell Obama is lying? He is speaking.

Everyone out there that blames Bush for our current mess is a fool. Obama has had plenty of time to fix these issues, but instead made them all worse. Obama is the worst President in our history, and I am deeply ashamed to admit that I believed his BS and voted for him. I honestly hoped he would turn our country around, but instead he drove us into the deepest mess in which America has ever been.

We should hold our House and Senate more responsible for our decline than any President. They should keep the President in check, and not be his lap-dogs, as they are now. If the President sends the troops in somewhere, the money should be withheld to keep them there. All America does is fight, and Obama is very good at keeping us fighting.

Obama, Holder, and 93 Senators should be in a jail cell right now, awaiting trial for treason against the U.S. Government and Constitution. The NDAA act alone should have been enough for that. Operation Fast and Furious is another reason. There is NO WAY Holder and Obama were ignorant of that operation. No way. If they were, then they are too incompetent to hold their jobs. Obama wanting us to sign on to the U.N. Small Arms Ban is another violation of our Constitution. For a man that supposedly taught classes on the Constitution, I do not think Obama has even read or understood the document.

Obama has absolutely no desire whatsoever to restore our lost liberties. That would go against the power of our Big Government Nanny State.

Obama claims over 3 million jobs were created last year. That’s nice. He failed to mention that his administration gave out OVER 3 million Green Cards for Mexican workers. I’m glad the Mexicans have an easier time getting work in our country than we do. Good for them.

I am starting to believe that Obama will continue using the Constitution for toilet paper in an effort to cause massive civil unrest. Then he can declare martial law. A lot of Liberals expected Bush to do this, I did not. I honestly believe, given the chance, that Obama WILL. 4 more years of Obama will destroy what is left of this country. Obama is the biggest mistake we have made in our nation’s history.

I will vote for any Republican in 2012, even that slime-ball Newt. Ron Paul is my first choice, but he actually believes in the Constitution. There is no way the establishment will let him win for that reason alone. Our politicians do not want us to have Liberty. The only real freedom we have is the freedom to complain online. That can’t hurt them, so they don’t care.

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
        Ben Franklin

Americans, in their fear and cowardice after 9/11, have forgotten this very important truth. More people need to get involved in politics. The government should fear the people, not the other way ’round. I am sick and tired of Americans being denied their rights over this one issue.

America is dying. Now, what are we going to do about it?

But the most obtrusive fact is… One day, these will be considered “the good old days”.. (heavy shivering!).

Here we go again. Another day of Flashman equivocation.
Flashman says — “The right, by cheering on the passage of the unPatriotic Act, by remaining in steadfast support as BushII/Cheney “fought” terrorism, allowed the police state to become a normal facet of our everyday lives”.
      The truth:
Only 1 Democrat Senator voted against the Patriot Act — Russ Feingold (good for him).
Only 62 out of 207 Democrat Representatives voted against the Patriot Act.
Quit trying to make it a Party issue, Flashman, when you know it’s a Government issue.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003309707389 Tom W.

Flushdunce is sch a dweeb!!! Good night everyone, holla at cha tomorrow!

    • DaveH

Flashman says — “Fact is, had there been one iota of pushback by the Conservative ‘patriotic” TPers, those laws would not have been passed”.
No, Flashman, facts are not something we can expect from your mouth. If you had any credibility, you would include the many Progressives who also remained silent (probably even yourself, but I wouldn’t bother expecting the truth from you). Progressives jump at any chance they get to create more Government. In fact, there are Progressives in both parties. Anybody who strives to build Bigger Government is a Progressive, regardless of whether they build it with a welfare state or a military state.

      • Flashy

DaveH…did you march in protest against the War Bush / Cheney lied us into? i.e. Iraqi War? Did you protest against the unpatriotic Act when it was pushed through? Did you protest Gitmo and torture being included in “approved” interrogation methods? Where were you when Bush II referred to the US Constitution as “quaint” ? Did you support John Yoo’s memo’s ? Were you protesting when the feds during Bush II began jailing Americans without charges and without right to counsel?

probably you did nothing but denigrate and castigate those who stood tall and brave against the implementation of these policies. The very same people who stand against the laws like Arizona which compel every American to carry ID papers on them or face being jailed … you know, those people you denigrate and castigate for being against “immigration reform” …

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

One thing that can be counted on by liberals and progressives like flashy…Questions? Did you…?
flashy, you know that’s straight out of the Alinsky play book!

        - curiosity (raising “questions that agitate, that break through the accepted pattern”),

        - irreverence (“nothing is sacred”; the organizer “detests dogma, defies any finite definition of morality”),

        - imagination (“the fuel for the force that keeps an organizer organizing”)

“‘The organizer’s first job is to create the issues or problems,’ and ‘organizations must be based on many issues.’ The organizer ‘must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression. He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act. . . . An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent.’”

No wonder you have no credibility!

I have protested the Patriot Act since its inception, Flashman.
I’d ask you the same question, but then your answer would be meaningless to me because you have no credibility.

      • Flashy

jeffH..I take it you were amongst those who laid back and had your jollies denigrating and castigating those who stood against those policies and laws. Blameless eh? Go back and read my first post. It fits you like a tight glove.

      • Flashy

DaveH..if you said the sun would rise in the east in the morning, anyone in any rational sane mind would wait and check before relying on your opinion. But then, you wouldn’t make such a claim unless Mises had some catchy title you could paste.

flashy again confirms his Alinsky training…with more questions!

      • JUKEBOX

I sincerely wish that Flashy or one of the other pseudo-intellectuals would give me a succint answer to one question. How in the world can two allegedly “POOR” men with no father figure, ie: Clinton & Obama, become one of the ELITE ruling class or 1% in our country without the backing of some foreign communist ELITE persons? Neither served in the military, and actually loathe the armed forces, and have tried to weaken it.

flash has no room to talk about others.

Flashy, you’re becoming a real nuisance. Is that the idea?

      • Buster the Anatolian

Jukebos, I cannot speak for obama but Clinton had a lots of help from a powerful senator (Fulbright I think).

        Jay, yes.

      • DaveH

        Flashman,
I can and have proved many times that you have no credibility.
Can you prove that about me?
Your slander is just further proof of your lack of credibility.

For those who are new to PL, and don’t yet know just how twisted Flashman is, just follow this thread:

Very well spoken Vicki! We ARE, and ALWAYS will be a FREE nation as long as WE’RE willing to stand up and FIGHT for the right of those whom WE OPPOSE to state their opinions and views! ANYTHING ELSE is either totailtaianrism or facsism!!! And IS the MAIN reason, this GOD GIVEN gift of FREEDOM and the WILLINGNESS to defend it at ALL COSTS, that WE became the greatest, most powerful (Both militarily and economically!) nation that this world has EVER seen!!! We,ve drifted so far from the “Shining Example upon a hill”! We’ve become Material Babylon!!! (Filled with greed, lust, the LOVE of money, and covetuousness!) And I’m not so sure that it is us spoken of in Rev. chap.18! Keep yo eyes on da skies!!!
