Obama Sends Apology Letter To Karzai Following Quran Incident

The Afghan President’s office announced that it had received a letter from President Barack Obama apologizing for the burning of Qurans at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, The Associated Press reported.

According to the news outlet, the statement from President Hamid Karzai’s office said the U.S. ambassador delivered the letter on February 23. In the apology, Obama expressed his “deep regret for the reported incident” and offers his “sincere apologies.”

The statement from Karzai’s office noted that Obama wrote: “The error was inadvertent; I assure you that we will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, to include holding accountable those responsible.”

CBS News reported that two U.S. troops have been shot to death and four more wounded, as an Afghan soldier turned his gun on his allies in apparent anger over the Quran-burning incident.

A statement from the International Security Assistance Force – Afghanistan, the international coalition in the nation, confirmed that the two American soldiers were killed in the Eastern part of the country by an individual “wearing an Afghan National Army uniform.”

From what I can clearly see, “President Obama” would not be in the position he is in, if it were not for the nosedive this country was taking prior to his election. The inside job was already in effect when the middle-class began losing jobs to overseas markets. What about the housing bubble? I guess President Obama is responsible. The truth is, he has the economy moving in the right direction in spite of the obstructive, self-serving, lying GOP… and despite the unscrupulous tactics of some in Corporate America.. He discourages savings, a decent job is not to be found, gas prices are up due to sanctions he put on Iran, he is making life hard on the poor like me, and inflation is rising.         Sorry but the hell you talk about was there when he came in to office, he did not create it and there is nothing wrong with putting the blame on the person and persons responsible for its cause, becoming president does not make him responsible for what those who came before him did. Obama’s job is to clean up the Bush Administration’s mess they left, this will take probably ten years to complete and you are so naive to think it can be done in three years. Thinks have greatly improved in three years but we are only almost 1/3 the way back to where we have to be. Conservatives often refer to him as the “Messiah” and thus expect miracles from him and when as a human he cannot do that you call him a failure, most however see he is heading in the right direction and that most of the trip lies ahead of us and if we turn back as all the GOP candidates want to do we will not get where we need to be nearly as soon. An independent non partisan examination of Obama’s budget compared to the GOP budget plans of the candidates running for president places his budget making the deficit smaller than Gingrich’s, Romney’s and Santorum’s creating a greater deficit than Obama’s budget, only Ron Paul’s budget was smaller that Obama’s. This was in the news today. Facts if choose to believe facts show he has the better solutions economically.

      It is current political fable is that the economic downturn is due to Bush’s failure to regulate of the housing and financial markets. It was precisely the government regulators, under pressure from politicians, who forced banks and other lending institutions to lower their standards for making mortgage loans. (google – Community reinvestment Act)
      These risky loans, and the defaults that followed, were what set off a chain reaction of massive financial losses that brought down the whole economy.
      Was this due to George W. Bush and the Republicans? Actually most of those who pushed the lowering of mortgage lending standards were Democrats– notably Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Christopher Dodd, though, admittedly, too many Republicans went along.

What angers me is that he should think this is so religiously sensitive that he feels the need for an apology and yet he ignores the shooting of two of our soldiers helping defend that armpit of the world by Afgan Military . And with the koran being used as a form of messanger service among prisoners , there is absolutely no need for apologies to anyone . However thy should be apologizing profusely for the killing of our soldiers .

    This whole country is falling apart when we let a person who is not constitutionally qualified to be president stay in office. We now have millions of people voting who are also not natural born citizens and who have allegiance to foreign countries and send their money abroad to countries all over the world. The constitution requires that the president be a natural born person of two citizens of the US. This is to avoid the possibility for foreign influence. Pretty quick if the current trend continues natural born Americans will no longer be able to control our future.

      Current court rulings say he is a natural born citizen and eligiable to be president and be on ballots. You can choose not to believe the courts but you cannot change their rulings, only the SC can do that and I do not believe they will hear the case so then the correct interpetaion will stand and that will be the legal definition

        No true patriot can support Ron Paul. That one critical element of the Constitution that he eschews is the government’s responsibility for national defense. He would decimate the military, and make America one of the weakest nations on earth. He would allow our enemies free rein to run roughshod about the world. While Obama seeks to destroy our children’s future through active measures Paul would accomplish the same outcome through inaction.
        Incidentally, I have had occasion to swear to uphold the Constitution – unlike politicians, I meant it, and put myself on the line for it.

We are a better nation and we should be setting the example in how the world respects us . Apparently we thought this was another good way to make friends and influence people.         When I was in Iraq in 2003, we were told that if our unit chaplain came into a city we were deployed to, they would kill him for spreading the word of an infidel religion. I volunteered my platoon to guard him. Needless to say, when they saw the Dragon Slayers, all 41 of us, guarding him, they made no attempt at his life. Anytime after that, if he needed to be guarded or watched out for, he called on my platoon. Our unit chaplain at that time was a major (0-4). I here he is a full colonel now. How is that for our actions and theirs Ed? I know I purposely put my platoon into harms way, but that’s all part of the job. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

They weren’t sacred books used for studying religion, they were tablets used by the muslim prisoners, most likely plotting against America.         To FF I have been to 4 muslim countries and had no problems. In Morocco, Turnisa, Eygpt and Turkey, most of the people wear western style clothing and there were NO women wearing burkas. Islam does not call for women to wear burkas. It is the culture of that nation and its male domination.

        The people that I met treated the Bible with more repect than most Americans. For example, in order to pick up the Bible, ones hands MUST be cleanse, therefore one MUST wash their hands. The Bible is stored in a clean area.

        There is a proper way to dispose of the Quans just like disposing of tattered American flags. It is done with honor and not dump into some trash can or burn in a trash fire.

        How many Muslim countries have you been in? I guess none and the Fox Koolaid must be pretty tasty.

        I’ve been following the story of Pastor Youcef in Iran whom converted to Christianity from Islam, the ultimate “infadel”. I do not know if he’s been murdered for his “crime”. There is no leaniancy in radical Islam. In the US a woman was stoned to death for being raped and so no longer a virgin. A daughter was killed in an “honor killing” for wishing to marry outside the faith. With this backward logic, how can we co-exist? We can’t!         speak for yourself, I was never fooled by the annointed one. In fact I told everyone that would listen that he was not out fix anything, to the contrary, he hoped to change America by destroying capitalism and ushering in socialism and one world governance.

      “…hold accountable those responsible.” Ah, now those are some scary words from the prez. Here we go again on yet another military witch-hunt against our military. The same folk who are trying to protect us will once again become political scapegoats.
      Now, how do you think the prez would react, what do you think would happen, if some Afghans burned a stack of bibles? It probably wouldn’t even make it onto his blotter. After all, we wouldn’t want to offend our Afghan/Muslim brethren by calling attention smoething like that now, would we?

        Burning bibles doesn’t provoke violent attacks because Jews and Christians acknowledge that the Bible is a book, of which there are many copies. The worship of the Koran and the volatility of Muslims make (yet another) problem in dealing with the Islamic world. I’ve often wondered if we all burned a Koran every time a Muslim extremist blew something up, killed a non-Muslim, or abused a Muslim woman who wasn’t doing what he told her to do, would things calm down? Or would they just take it as more reason to blow things up? (I’m an Obama supporter, by the way. And I don’t think he had much choice about apologizing, because those guys will blow things up.)
