    In her “Plan for Peace,” Sanger outlined her strategy for eradication of those she deemed “feebleminded.” Among the steps included in her evil scheme were immigration restrictions; compulsory sterilization; segregation to a lifetime of farm work; etc. Birth Control Review, April 1932, p. 107

    On adultery:
    A woman’s physical satisfaction was more important than any marriage vow, Sanger believed. Birth Control in America, p. 11

      Well, I certainly can agree with her about the licensing of parents qote. Just because Margaret Sanger started Planned Parenthood does not mean that the organization has followed what she believed. I can also understand what she said about the day coming when women would not be just considered a child-bearing machines.

      She was obviously a very angry person. Who knows what may have happened to her in childhood.

        As sosmeone who has used Planned Parenthood for exams in the past due to it being affordable, I can tell you that good and decent people work for them and they provide services for women, especially from the lower socio-economic levels, that they would not be able to afford otherwise. To someone with no insurance, a visit to a gynocologist is beyond her means. I would imagine these days it has to run $75 to $100, and then there are the lab fees. Planned Parenthood charges much less.

        Joe – I never claimed that PP did mammograms. When I was going, they would refer to the hospital. Since I moved to SC, mammograms for women over 50 are funded by, I believe, the American Cancer Society through the Best Chance program via referrals by doctors. To the millions of women who have depended on PP for reproductive health, they are a godsend.

    We need more science and math education in High School so our kids are more intrested in learning rather than listening to entertainers on tv and radio including the tv preachers.

        Read an article a month or so back about how so many schools are no longer even teaching “cursive” writing to grade schoolers. Why? Because it takes up to much classroom time and “texting” is the “IN” thing nowadays. From what you’ve said about your boys they must have been in one of those schools. It’s happening all over the country so it’s soon to be a thing of the past. Before we know it there will be college majors in deciphering cursive written documents – our Constitution included.

    Was Ginsberg possibly thinking this whole constitution recommendation through? Maybe she’s aware of what the two Adams POTUS said regarding “our” Constitution:

    JimH, no, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Yes, we do exercise double standards ALL THE TIME. Yes, we should look at the Constitionality of everything. Going to the 1st Amendment, is that right “to make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”, mean that individual rights take a backseat to the rights of a church/religion? Do women have the right to affordable health care? Does an employer have the right, even if that employer accepts government funds as a non-profit, have the right to enforce upon their employees, the dogma of their religion? These are legitament questions to be asked. I don’t condone the suppression of beliefs of a Church, but neither do I condone the forcing of those beliefs, or the consequences of those beliefs, on others who do not join in those beliefs.

      For a Catholic church member’s insurance premiums to be indirectly funding activities that this religious group’s doctrine declares to be prohibited, I find that to be making the member complicit in more than just a hypothetical way.

        Fruitful: Producing good or helpful results; productive.

But most know, that what drives the over-population myth, is greed.       Mikles, A person goes to an employer asking for a job. The employer tells the employee what the pay and benefits are. If they don’t meet your needs you can look elseware. The employer who hires you CAN say what you will recieve for the work you do.
      I would go as far to say the 1rst protects not just faith based employers, but an indidual as well.
      If I ownwd a construction company and the government said I need to provide for abortions it would violate my Constitutional rights.
      There is NOTHING in the Bill of Rights or the Constitution that says ANYTHING about womans healthcare, contaception or anything about healthcare.
      I also believe that free contaception isn’t a RIGHT.
      People pay a co-pay for medicine that is needed for their survival. Insulin, blood preasure medicine, heart medicine.
      Contaception is elective healthcare, like tummytucks, facelifts and Joe Bidens hair plugs. NOT A RIGHT.
      The Church can’t tell you that you can’t purchase contraceptives and they shouldn’t have to provide for them.
      You can pay your way or find an employer who will. That is what you have the right to do.

      No one is forcing anyone to believe anything. If you don’t agree with the beliefs of the church, don’t work for them. If you can’t find any other job, then grin and bear it. Using my very own freedom as a citizen of the United States, I choose not to work for the church of satan, or to work in the pornography industry, because both offend my religious views. A garbage man may find the smell frustrating, disgusting, and less than pleasant, but he grins and bears it.

      You really need to stop making more of this than there is.

      What the Constitution protects in the first amendment is religious freedom. Congress doesn’t have the authority to make laws that infringe on religion, or that prevent the free exercise of that religion. So if the Catholic church doesn’t believe in contraception, a government law requiring them to provide it is a direct attempt to make a law with respect to religion, and preventing the free exercise of that religion.

      If some woman thinks that her right to get free contraception through her insurance company is that important, there are other places to work. A friend of my wife had a baby a while back. It was her fourth child. She wanted to get her tubes tied. Unfortunately, the hospital she chose was a Catholic hospital, and they wouldn’t do that procedure.

      She said, “Oh well. It would have been convenient to do it all at the same time, but I’ll have it done later at the other hospital.”

      It’s freedom and choice. If you don’t like the freedoms in the United States, go live in Britain.

      Why would people work for a hospital that is religion based and they themselves are not of that religion? If the Employer is Catholic and you are not and if you accepted the position it was done under false pretenses. It was your prerogative to learn your employer’s belief system and if you decided to work there to shut up or quit.

    The church seems to be easily duped. Back when socialist healthcare was still being secretly put together behind closed doors the church was assured this would not happen. When they are duped again by smoke and mirrors well…. Last time I check BC and abortions could be purchased by anyone, why does it have to be free. Next thing will be why is the STD outbreak among the down trodden so severe. Un-planned parent hood will help remove that unwanted little piece of tissue.

The important issue is what it says and the meanings behind it.     Obama doesn’t get to dictate policies of who must hire whom to churches, BUT … 501c(3) not for profit religious corporate entites are creatures of the state and operate on privilege, not right, and that privilege is what the federal govt. says it is.

    FURTHERMORE … regarding hire … hire is a broad term, including employment. All employement may be hire but not all hire is employment. Employment involves the govt. in a three party contract between employer, employee and govt. How is that? Use of an SSN, entirely voluntary by law, invites in the federal govt. as a senior third party that dictates terms such as minimum wage, payment into a govt. pension plan of dubious value (social security), OSHA regs, maternity leave, overtime regs, and EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT, which leaves the door open for the govt. to force hire via employment of all manner of folk that churches may find objectionable.

    If a church is to answer to a higher power only and not make govt. its God, then it must 1) unwind its 501c(3) not for profit religious corporate status and 2) cease employing anyone. It can still hire without employing, i.e., no SSN. No SSN also eliminates FICA, payroll tax, medicare tax, federal income tax, state income tax, local income tax, and Obamacare liabilities.

    Unfortunately, if you broach this subject with your average brainwashed church pastor, the usual result is catatonic brainfart as evidenced by a bleating chorus of “render unto Caesar” as they misquote the Bible.

The issue lies within a federal mandate that directs all Catholic Hospitals, initially, into providing for anyone – employees included – various forms of contraception, which, in the end, includes abortion. That is the primary issue of concern. Without question if this is maneuvered into place by any means necessary then government will have accomplished intrusion into the religious foundations of our nation. Afterwards, what’s next?

        There is always a hook. The federal govt. can’t really do anything until you have stepped over onto their turf. I don’t know enough about the specifics of hospitals but I do know how the federal govt. operates … which is like a vampire. A vampire must be invited into your house, otherwise you have the power … one sight of a cross or just the whiff of garlic sends them off. But once invited in, no amount of crosses or garlic will prevent them from feeding on your blood.

        Guaranteed … there is some privilege that a hospital must take from the govt. that invites the federal govt. in. If that is dealt with, and no privilege is taken from the govt. then they are powerless to dictate anything. The trouble is this … we are so inured to using govt. privilege that we forget. For instance, most people believe there is a law that REQUIRES the use of SSN’s, even most lawyers.

        Absolutely wrong. Problems come in when you use an SSN, fill out a form W-4, and then refuse to file or file some stupid 0 return or refuse to sign under the grounds of the fifth ammendment, etc. If the “employer” is a taxpayer and needs to expense out the cost of your labor on its corporate return, that can be done via the catagory of “other” whereas on a personal return it is “miscelanious” if I am not mistaken … I haven’t filled out a tax form in well over 20 years. About the worst thing that will happen is that the IRS will sent the employer an unsigned form letter advising that if you are a non resident alien you must be in backup withholding. That can be fixed with a signed statement from you that you are a citizen or resident of the United States, sent to the IRS office in Philadelphia PA only. The procedure used to be in IRS pub 515 on page 2, later page 3, prior to the IRS being forced to put all of their publications on the web.

        Pretty simple. Otherwise, such a law would run afoul of the Constitution, which the income tax laws DO NOT … they are PERFECTLY WITHIN CONSTITUTIONAL BOUNDS AS WRITTEN. Of course, there are are two versions of tax law … as written and “everybody knows.” “Everybody knows” because nobody or at least very few bother to read.

If you are even looking at some law, you are substituting “citizen” for “taxpayer” which is a specifically defined legal term. Not all citizens are taxpayers. A taxpayer is someone who is the subject of Title 26, the internal revenue codes. That is not all inclusive. It includes those who derive income from a government granted privilege. No privilege, no tax. Hire without employment is not a privilege, employment IS a privilege. Employment is a specifically defined legal term.

        Interestingly enough … when it comes to discussing income tax and its relationship to use of a socialist slavestate number, catatonic brainfart runs rampant. In fact, it is far easier to discuss 9-11 truth, i.e., that it was an inside job, than it is to discuss the socialist slavestate number/income tax relationship. 9-11 truth causes far less brainfart than social security truth.         It’s impossible to drop a 1099 on someone who consistently doesn’t use an SSN. When dealing with a person or entity that insists on a taxpayer ID number because they wrongly believe that they need a taxpayer ID number from you to expense out the cost of your labor and/or intellectual property on their tax filings, the answer is to provide them with a corporate taxpayer ID number. The most simple way to to is an LLC. The LLC, in turn, can be held by either you, if you don’t use an SSN, or better yet, an unincorporated business trust organization. If the bank insists on a personal taxpayer ID number on the LLC account in addition to the LLC taxpayer ID, work with someone you trust. Your only relationship to the corporate entity is that of outside consultant with no taxpayer ID.

        If anyone is jacked up on a tax beef regarding the income tax, it is because they used an SSN or other personal taxpayer ID number, period. There is a mechanism whereby people are made liable. Don’t use an SSN you never hear from the IRS. Use one and don’t file and either a W-2 or a 1099 is dropped on you and you will have to deal with the IRS.

        Highway use can be licensed IF AND ONLY IF it is commercial. The trick the system uses is to get you to turn your private vehicle into a commercial “motor vehicle” that they have an interest in and therefore can license the use of. This is done via the motor vehicle registration process. The document that you never see unless you demand from the dealer when you pay cash for a new car is the MCO or Manufacturer Certificate of Origin. This is used to convey title. The dealer generally sends this into DMV and they record it, which then gives them the right to issue a lesser title known as “certificate of title” and demand your licensure and proof of financial responsibility, generally via insurance although you can also post a bond.

        In the event that you remove the state’s interest via commercial lien or just scrapping the title and remanufacture via your own MCO/VIN plates of your creation and recording publicly to yourself, at that point the state cannot demand a license to use because they have no interest in that property. At that point you can successfully assert right to travel as opposed to drive by privilege, altho you will probably have a few court fights with local oinksters before they leave you alone. If the state has an interest, they win, if they don’t, you CAN win provided you don’t stick your foot in your mouth.

        Secondly … the Bible verse that DOES apply to the income tax is NEVER the one that your average brainwashed pastor quotes, and that is the one about the fish in the coin’s mouth and to whom does the tax apply, Citizens or foreigners. This is the Bible story that is totally applicable to the income tax, which, is at its core, a tax on international income … that is, foreign entities with US sourced income or a citizen here residing abroad with foreign earned income under protection of the US flag. The income tax also applies to federal employees, which is what you make yourself if you use a socialist slavestate number (totally voluntary by law) on the job. Regardless … when Jesus and Peter didn’t have time to argue over the tax, a miraculous provision was made to pay it. That means that all of you who are forced into paying income tax due to being forced into socialistic insecurity by a brainwashed employer should be claiming that verse for miraculous provision to pay those taxes.

        Bottom line … if you are paying into socialistic insecurity/using a socialist slavestate number/paying income tax you are paying for your own enslavement. Protesting all of the freedom destroying crap that is going on in this country is one thing, but I don’t understand railing against all of that and then turning around and paying for your own enslavement.

        First of all, I don’t challenge the power structure as it is meant to be. I agree that the people are supposed to be the ones in charge, not the government.

        Secondly, government has made itself Caesar, just like it was in Rome. Rome was a Republic. Caesar declared himself dictator for life and got killed for it. By the time of Tiberius, people were being executed for making comments about the emperor he didn’t like. I didn’t make government my Caesar. I didn’t cheer him as he crossed the Rubicon. I have protested every step of the way, only to be drowned out by the sound of thunderous applause as one right after another is stripped away. The people have the government Caesar.

        Thirdly, Tiberius required tribute of the people in Judea. Jesus was asked if it was right to pay tribute to Caesar. Jesus told them to render unto Caesar that which was Caesar’s.

        Lastly, you enjoy the privileges and protection provided through the taxes you despise. If you prefer, you can be like that man I read about who refused to pay his local taxes, which included police, fire, medical, and other emergency services. After making such a big deal of it, going public on the news and everything else, it just so happened that his house caught on fire. When the firemen got there and saw whose house it was, they let it burn to the ground. When the man protested, he was reminded about how he refused to pay the tax that paid for such services.

        Some taxes are bad. Excessive taxes are definitely bad. But the right taxes paid in the appropriate amounts is justified, because we all share in the enjoyment and compensation we receive from such taxation when we have need to call 911, or want to apply for a grant for our kid to go to college, or want to travel the interstate and visit a tourist destination in our country.

        So don’t be a boob. I’m neither brainwashed nor mindless. If you are going to protest, at least protest intelligently, and about things that make a difference.

    To be fair, Ginsburg, to my knowledge, doesn’t not follow the Constitution. She just thinks it’s an outdated document and shouldn’t be used as a model for a more modern Constitution freshly drafted for a new Republic/Democracy. It does makes me sick, however, that a Supreme Court Justice is so ignorant of both history and our current political climate that she doesn’t recognize how absolutely relevant our Constitution is, and how ingenius it is. In point of fact, if it’s such an antiquated and unrealistic document, why was it written to protect us against all the things our government is doing to us right now? How could such a piece of garbage document have such incredible foresight to know that our government would resort to invading our privacy, silencing us, overturning our free practice of religion, imprisoning us without charges, submitting us to torture, disarming us, etc.?

    She needs to be removed from the bench if she thinks our Constitution is not a quality document. That shows how ignorant and arrogant she is, that she thinks herself wiser than the collective wisdom of our founders.

      Alex, you may have missed the fact that our perfect Constitution has been amended quite a few times to answer to the desires of the citizens facing real or perceived problems from slavery to alcohol consumption. Many of our forefathers and even the founding fathers have appreciated the fact that a governing document is not bullet proof from weaknesses just because it is our CHIEF document!!

        NC, most bad things tend to be the result of good intentions. With all due respect, there are barely two or three amendments made since the Bill of Rights that have any merit. Namely, the abolishment of slavery and black and women’s suffrage.
        The prohibition on alcohol was in direct contradiction to the spirit of the Constitution. The document was designed to protect our individual freedom, not to provide a basis of control over the people. Such an amendment should have never existed, and its passage and execution led to the greatest era of crime in the history of our country, an era that still reverberates today through the still-existent mob, or organized crime. The additional amendment to repeal prohibition was the smartest thing they could have done.
        The fourteenth amendment is mostly redundant. It merely restates the facts of several other articles that had been neglected or ignored up to that point.
        The sixteenth amendment robbed the states of their voice in the Senate. Rather than being Representatives of the State, chosen by the State Legislature, they became additional representatives of the people according to popular vote. It’s an abomination, and only someone who doesn’t understand the system devised by the Constitution would think otherwise.
        The sixteenth amendment gave us the wonderful gift of income tax so the government would have the means to pay back the central bank, borrow money, and basically spend what it didn’t have. Thanks to it, we are in the financial mess we are in right now.
        The twenty-second amendment is stupid. Presidents shouldn’t have term limits. The only thing a two term limit does is guarantee that if we have a good president, we don’t get to keep him, and if we have a bad president, we are certain that he will act the fool during his final term when there are no consequences. Any president wishing to be reelected will behave in a way that encourages people to continue to vote for them (much as Obama is right now trying to do things to boost his approval ratings after three years of doing nothing of any consequence). Those who behave poorly will be removed from office.
        The twenty-third amendment … DC doesn’t need a vote. For all intents and purposes, DC should be considered part of Virginia for purposes of voting and such. The only necessity for it to be a district separate from the state is the conflict of interest in having the nation’s capital and seat of power as part of a state.
        The twenty-fourth amendment allows moral hazard by making it easier for the poor to vote themselves handouts and other destructive legislation, whereas the land owners tend to be more politically minded and focused on the best interest of the country. Case in point, you’re a liberal democrat. I wager that you live paycheck to paycheck, and that you wouldn’t be able to afford the poll tax. I’m a republican (libertarian actually), and I don’t live check to check. I can afford the poll tax. Based on our individual opinions, I can say with confidence that for the sake of us both, I’m the one you want voting for anything that is going to effect BOTH of our lives.
        The other amendments are generally inconsequential, discussing things like presidential sucession if the president dies, congressional pay limits, etc.

        The real problem with some of what they try to change has to do with basic human rights that were laid down in the Bill of Rights. These were not initially included in the Constitution because the Constitution itself didn’t give the government or the states the power to infringe upon these freedoms. But in their good wisdom, they knew that if they weren’t put down in writing, they would be trampled. So we have the power of free speech, of religion, to complain to and about our government. We have the right to defend ourselves, and to take up arms against our government if it became as it has now become. We have the right to privacy, to be entitled to commit a crime before they seek evidence of a crime. We have the basic human right not to be tortured. We have the right, through a grand jury, to not be put on trial when there is no real evidence, to confront the witnesses accusing us of a crime, to have the advice of a lawyer, a speedy and public trial, etc.
        These things should not be changed, abridged, or infringed upon. They are God-given rights, not government given.

        So with all due respect, the Constitution is perfect the way it is, provided it is preserved, protected and defended. If the founders once upon a time thought that blacks were of lesser standing in the community, the error has been rectified. But slavery was normal then, as it had been for five thousand years worth of recorded history going all the way back to Egypt. I’ll cut them a little slack on that one given the circumstances. Other than that, I am certain beyond doubt that the Constitution, as it was originally written, amended with nothing more than the Bill of Rights and the thirteenth and ninteenth amendments, would function with excellence, even in our modern climate, provided it is adhered to.

        The Constitution in body and in several of the first 10 amendments, remained silent as to curtailment of states’ rights. It was mainly a roadmap for restricting the power of the Federal government, and as such did not address “the power to infringe upon these freedoms” insofar as the states were concerned.

        Religious tests for state office holding, for example, remained in several state constitutions for some time after the Constitution was ratified, and it was perfectly legal. The First Amendment in particular restricted no state in its abridgement of freedoms of speech, religion, or press if the state so chose. The 10th Amendment bolstered and solidified this concept.

      Well let’s see what could be wrong with the way the original Constitution was put together. First, and foremost, was that slavery was allowed! No one has a problem with that? Would you use that as a model for a good way to build a productive country?

      Yeah, I know, that was a necessay compromise. But it is also a part of the Constitution. Isn’t it interesting that Negroe slaves were counted as being a percentage of a human being–but only so that they could be counted for reasons of representatives in the government. Of course, they were not elegible for ANY representatives to speak for them. In fact they could be killed or maimed by their “owners” for no reason other than the owner wanted to do that to them.

      Do you really believe that the Constitution as written by our Founding Fathers was without out flaw? If you do, then I fear you. If you do, then you are evil.

        mikeles, things like slavery are why the amendment process exists within the Constitution itself. Don’t be ignorant and condemn the whole document because they considered blacks to be property at the time the document was written. Slavery had existed for five thousand years. It’s not like they were wicked men who came up with this new idea … “Hey, let’s enslave a bunch of blacks from Africa.” The slave trade was alive and well across the world at that time.

        And the only real mention of slavery prior to the thirteenth amendment is in Article IV, and mentions them as persons; “No Person held to Service or Labour …” It’s not the Constitution that regards blacks as less than regular people. They are just persons held to service or labor. Unlike Illinois laws that prohibit the ownership of firearms in some counties, which directly violates the Constitution, no state law prohibiting slavery would have been contradicted by the Constitution. Therefore, the Constitution doesn’t actually protect slavery. It just protected property ownership.

        But I think any decent and moral person would agree that slavery is wrong. And it is the fact that decent and moral folks across the nation in unanimous agreement think it is wrong that makes it right to create an amendment to the Constitution.

        That said … since you hate our evil Constitution, why don’t you piss off and go live in Britain.

        It didn’t matter what country’s constitution was admired by Bader Ginsburg, eddie. When a justice of the Supreme Court appeals to international agreements, UN protocols or other constitutions in backing up judicial decisions, that justice is guilty of violating the oath of office and probably perjury. Ginsburg should have been impeached long ago for her traitorous actions.

        And stop trying to change the subject, Mr. Alinsky. Even if the SA constitution was better than ours, it has NO BEARING whatsoever on the sworn duties of Ginsburg to preserve, protect and defend the US Conatitution.

        au contraire eddie, it has always been Obama’s vision that federal law should require employers to provide health insurance coverage for their employees, and the same law should require coverage of abortion on demand, which Obama regards as basic ‘preventive’ medicine, in all such plans.

        Obama isn’t forcing doctors to perform abortions but Obamacare is mandating that health care providers are required to cover “all FDA approved” forms of cotraception which includes “abortion-inducing drugs” a.k.a. abortions.

        The 2010 Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) gives presidential appointees at least 40 regulatory powers that have the force of law. Kathleen Sebelius, President Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, recently exercised one of these powers by mandating that “most new and renewed health plans” are required to cover without cost sharing “all FDA-approved forms of contraception” by August 1st of this year.

        This mandate will also impact most individuals with health insurance that does not already cover such items.

    The issue with religious institutions especially the Catholic Church is mainly contraceptives not abortion. I would agree that the church itself shouldn’t have to hand out birth control.Although they are more concerned about growing their parish numbers than how over population is now affecting society or the world. Their hospitals whom serve those outside the church and the public need to do more in supporting family planning.Sexual issues are medical issues and these hospitals need to address it. Either that or stop calling themselves a full service institution.

        The contraceptive issue is not the top issue. It’s can the government force something that violates their 1rst amendment rights on them.
        Right on the top of the page of the Bill of Rights, the very first amendment guarrantees religious freedom. Through all the rest of the Bill of Rights, or the Constitution is there any mention of contaception being a right.
        The Constitution is the meat and potato’s of this issue. Contaception is just a side dish.

        Mikeles is wrong. Contraceptives are not about women’s health, but about reproduction. The government cannot force you to pay for something. It is a violation of the Commerce Clause in the Constitution. Second, if it is against what someone believes, for religious or personal reasons, they caanot Obama bin Laden cannot force you to do something against those beliefs.         Mr. Phelps, despite his personal convictions, is considered to be one of the most respected historians, concerning the issue discussed. You would do well, and would be to your profit, to consider research from different sources, perhaps, that will echo Mr. Phelp’s findings. I’m sure you are well familiar with Malachi Martin, an ex-jesuit and Cardinal, among others, to numerous ex-catholic-clergy to mention, that concur with Mr.Phelps.

        As for myself, who am i, that you should consider seriously, my opinion? Only to say; i was born and raised a Catholic, so i understand quite well, your irrational rejection of the facts, and all the myriad of reasons for their dismissal!

        We have a serious problem with overpopulation no doubt about it. My grandmother was catholic and she died catholic. I believe that religion ruined her life. She married at fifteen and she couldn’t avoid children had an abusive husband for 20 years until he died because she couln’t divorce him. Her brothers tried to kill him because they were catholic too. She has to be married until he die. Apparently he died of natural causes. She married my grandpa because she needed somebody to support her children. My grandma had seventeen children. If I have a choice between my grandma life and to be aborted I prefer the second choice. It is not health care and 2. It is against their beliefs. You cannot force someone to do something against their personal or religious beliefs.         I would have never attempted to have an abortion, but my first husband wanted me to after our 2nd child.         I hate to say this but your husband was obviously very ego oriented. If he didn’t want you to have any more kids there is a much easier solution to that apparent problem and it most certainly isn’t “life threatening”. It’s called “vasectomy”. Takes about thirty minutes and after a few days everything is healed up and it most assuredly doesn’t disable a man from reaching his optimum point of pleasure. That in and of itself is somewhat confusing insofar as his intent and belief but again, the initial statement made by Patti is what my response was directed to. Keep in mind, his belief and or direction statement to her was made at least 18 months after their 2nd child was born which was the time period involved in her first statement. Over that amount of time it is not impossible that people can change their minds or attitudes in relation to any issue at hand. Also, she’s speaking of her FIRST husband, not presumedly whomever she may be married to now. Am I defending Patti, no, merely making a point of an attitude that is fairly common amongst men – in general. It is not the attitude/belief of all men – ME INCLUDED – but unfortunately it still exists.

        I did not word my discussion properly and I apologize to all. I did not and nor have never had an abortion. The operation that I had was a partial hysterectomy. While the husband had to sign for a wife to have her tubes tied (in military facility), his signature/permission was not needed for a hysterectomy. I was informed (1980) that if I were to become pregnant again, due to internal problems, I could bleed to death before arriving at the hospital for emergency care. My first husband decided that as a woman – I was not necessary in the lives of the 4 children – yet he wanted 2 more & did not care what risk it was to me. So, I got the operation and upon returning home he had packed the house already – and loaded the kids and me up and relocated us to another state, next to my own family. He said because of this operation, I was “no longer a woman”. Vasectomies at that time were in the experimental stages. He has been married 4 more times since then – and to my understanding has no other kids. He never attempted to communicate with ours until they were in their 30′s and had kids of their own. My point here is that – IF a woman leaves it up to a spouse or others for her own personal care, the decisions of life and death, and if there must be a life shattering event (abortion included), the decisions are usually wrong – taken away from the value of morals – and steering away from the sane part of life – even God. That man thought he was God…still does. I hope that makes it clearer.

        Case in point: In a recent online discussion for my American Government class, we were asked to discuss whether we would adcd anything to the Bill of Rights. I could not believe the number of students who said they would add free health care for all and pretty much unlimited unemployment for anybody losing a job. Another one said she would like an amendment saying soldiers could be stationed wherever they wanted to be! I was absolutely stunned! They know absolutely nothing about anything! These are kids who are at least 18; and I believe some to be in their early 20s.

It has never been automatic that this country grow and becone stronger. It has always been done by people who have for the most part been educated in our public school system and public universaties.We can’t abandon the system because parents need to work and can’t afford private education< That means we adults need to work to better the system instead bitching about the worse parts!

My oldest son graduated from IU Bloomington and he told me some stories of students on campus. He said that some were so ignorant, he just stayed away from them. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        Oh, I absolutely agree. It amazes me that these kids graduated high school. I have a Spanish class in which they just make me want to bang my head against the wall. I keep thinking “Did they act like this in high school?” and, if so, why didn’t their teachers do something about it?

        Actually, my Spanish instructor told us a story about a student in HS who was totally failing due to the fact that he did nothing all year. He was approached by the principal and ordered to pass that kid becuase the school needed to up its stats for funding purposes.

        I know we don’t agree too often Karolyn, but thanks for agreeing with me. I’ve heard stories, like the one your Spanish teacher told you. But the students I heard of were usually athletes and they wanted a winning team. One of those students graduated from Concord High School, here in Elkhart. He graduated from high school, though his reading ability was below a 6th graders. His name was Shawn Kemp. After he graduated, he went to U of Kentucky, where he was expelled after his first year for accepting gifts from boosters. This helped put Kentucky on waivers for 2-3 years. He went to the pros. Though he went to the pros, he ended up being a has been that was hooked on alcohol and drugs. He still can’t get a job. Why? No college and no one will hire him as long as he is dependent on controlled substances. After he graduated, the state was notified about him from a former teacher. The state investigated and they basically cleaned house. The principal, vice principal, and various teachers were fired on the spot after its completion. Some teachers resigned from the high school and middle school. In total, there were about 20 people fired by the state and 10-15 people resigned voluntarily. The state may have been heavy handed, but it was effective. I, as a history teacher, don’t give anyone a pass. I told my students that if they want to pass my class, they have to earn it. I don’t give grades away. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        Deerinwater (DIW-Dead in the water), I actually have 3 of 4 children between 20-26 years old. One is in the army, so he has meidical coverage, my daughter in in college and on our policies, our oldest son has a job and pays for his through State Farm, so what is your point? If a child turns 25-26 and can’t afford insurance, then they better get a job or redo their household budget. We don’t have anyone above 80 years old yet, but we will in 5-6 years. We always give money to our parents every month. Not a lot, but it helps them with their bills. WMD’s? We’ve already refuted that many times on this site, so why bring it up again?         Did you hear the latest news of what Obama bin Laden has done? He wants to make it mandatory for We the People to pay for contraceptives through our insurance. Mandatory paying for it. Now I don’t have to tell anyone that this is a violation of our God given rights under the 1st Amendment, but it is also a violation of the Commerce Clause in the Constitution. The governmet can offer it, but they cannot make you pay for it. It has to be a choice for the people and not dictating to the people. No clues as to what happened? I know she divorced her deadbeat husband and got herself cleaned up, but maybe it could be something from when she was using?
