Nobody asked me but, if they did I’d tell them that I think we’d all be better off if the politicians all went home and did nothing. I think they do too much. 40,000 laws nation wide last year alone; well that’s what I was told anyway. I mean even if it was only one tenth that number what in the world do all of those laws mean to us? We can’t even keep up with our wives birthdays let alone 4,000 or 40,000 new laws we don’t understand. And who can understand the 3,000,000 existing laws now? I guess that we just have to wait to find out what they mean until after we’ve been arrested because we broke one of them. And I know that if we are good little boys and girls we won’t have to worry about those 3,000,000 laws now will we? We’ll only have to worry about it if we irritate somebody who has authority.

A year or two ago, the news announced that the state legislature had ended their session and gone home. They had been busy; they had passed over 1700 new laws. I had heard of barely a dozen. It makes you wonder just what they pass, doesn’t it? But they feel that they must pass something to “prove” they are doing something for the money we pay them. If they just went home, we’d be much better off.

The laws are passed because human nature cannot be controlled. Laws fail to control human behaviors and the laws keep multiplying and keep on failing. We will lose complete Liberty and we will not have goodness. Marxism in all its’ horrors is crouching at the door.

Nadzieja Batki, I guess that essentially you are right, though the law can’t control human behavior it can be used to punish someone for improper behavior. Then it’s up to the person to control themselves or suffer the consequences over again. A good law is there to protect others from the abuse of others. That may not be a comfort to someone who is abused however if it stops future abuse the law did what it was designed to do. The other purpose of a good law is to help give us guidance in daily life. It takes people with intelligence to know a good law from a bad one and to get guidance from it. We have too many bad laws that can’t be enforced.
The last thing: I feel sorry for someone who can’t control themselves. That’s the kind of person who we need to protect society from. I hope you weren’t referring to yourself when you made that statement;I don’t think you were.

If i recall, the Atlantic Charter was held in.. ’42 or ’43. That meeting set the stage for the post war international agreements, among those agreements were such that set the stage for the San Francisco conference which ultimately led to the creation of the UN.

E. Europe was a discussion both at Tehran and later at Yalta. FDR and Churchill were leery about Stalin keeping his promises to war against Japan. As you will remember the Nuclear option was not then known to be anytime soon and the invasion of Japan was being estimated at over 1 million in American casualties. E. Europe was never explicitly discussed. Once the post war division of policed terroritory was made, Stalin never ceded it as was envisioned. His broken promise occurred after FDRs death and was being cemented in place when he met with Churchill (later Atlee) and Truman at Potsdam.

At Tehran and later Yalta, The Poland border issue was the main concern, as were reparations and the division of Germany and occupied territories post war.

i will refer you to the book “Witness to History” by Charles Bohlen, who served in Moscow as our “Soviet expert” diplomat prior to WWII, later ambassador to Russia in the early 50′s. Was briefly interred in Tokyo when the war broke out, and then served as our Ambassador to France during the 60′s. Ambassador Bohlen was the interpreter for FDR at both Tehran and Yalta.

It’s a fascinating book giving first hand descriptions and expression to that time in our history.

If I may ask you, what part of DaveH’s historical revision would you deem correct in light of it is in direct conflict with the firsthand narratives of Ambassador Bohlen?

I honestly don’t think Flash-o-man-o can comprehend the true basis of our Constitution and it’s primary purpose. Has he not shown this inability quite regularly?

Angel, the Nazis first embraced Christianity to gain power and then founded their own version of “christianity” called “Positive Christianity”. It was a step along the way to completing the persecution of those of the Jewish faith. They denied Jesus was a Jew and, in fact, claimed Jesus despised Jews. Catholics were first persecuted outside of Nazi Germany. Several thousand Catholics actually died in concentration camps in and around Poland.

I give this short history lesson as a warning to all our athiestic or anti-Christian detractors such as Flashy. Their beliefs and the political gain the left has recently experienced from them are in many ways similar to the political gain the Nazis received early on. But, the writing is on the wall for those without a closed mind to read. The Catholics generally supported this president (something like 52% of the Catholic vote went dem last cycle) and yet the tearing down of the Catholic tenets continues…all I’m saying Flashy is that you and your ilk may not be next on the agenda, but you are in line.

1. obvious y’all have no clue how many Rights are specifically referenced in the Constitution. Thus, all you so-called ‘experts’ claiming to have read it, never have. You may have scanned it, but none have read it.

Taking the Constitution from the former USSR and comparing it to our Constitution, a superficial reading would imply the USSR had a more liberating Constitution. in fact, during the late 70′s, there was a study performed wehre the identifying well know phrases of both were omitted, and the documents given to people on the street. Something like 60% said the USSR Constitution was the democratic one and ours was communistic. What separates the US Constitution from all others is the key element of government. (here ya go DaveH, learn something for a change).

Our Constitution states all Power resides in the People. And government power and authority is only what we allow it to be. If it’s not given or allowed to the Government, the government doesn’t have it. The Constitution isn’t written to protect us from government! It’s a document that states what we cede from our Power, and it states no matter how far whacked we become, there are a set of specific Rights we cannot cede. And you guys for all your self proclamations of being knowledgable, not only have no clue how many Rights are specific in the Constitution, YOU DON”T EVEN KNOW IT’S PURPOSE

3. I am not anti-Christian. I am 100% for the seperation of church and state. And whether a church declares it has an exemption from some application of law, they have none because they cannot be held out as special. We all live by the same rules. Any time government carves out some religious expemption..it violates the 1st in that it has given sanction to a religion over all others…and if it gives that exception to all religions, it violates the 1st because it recognizes religion as being special above that of the citizenry.

My own personal belief? I believe organized religion was a great invention by the elite that is used to control the ignorant masses.

Thanks Angel, I am well aware that you really on top of this. But, there is really no risk in proclaiming the warnings from those who have gone before again and again. I beg to differ denniso, Property Taxes – I have always said you never really own anything. And where I live I can’t even license a my taxed car until I prove to them I have paid them. If I fail to pay my real estate tax they confiscate it even though I was one who paid for it.

I have paid for my house in property taxes. We home school so don’t use public school.

This new bailout of private mortgages (not really needed) for people under water is backed by the GHA another government entity. Giving the government mandates to these properties.

Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae are the problem (Barney Frank/Chris Dodd) caused this mess and they should have to go to jail for it

I don’t care for property tax either,but we wouldn’t have to have it if we were willing to pay a bit more in state income tax or sales tax. The original idea was that property owners were the better off people who could afford it. Why don’t we have a national movement to get rid of any property tax for people under $75,000/yr,or $100,000? We make up for it w/ higher income tax to pay for schools,which benefit the whole country,even if one’s kids are home schooled. How much worse off would we all be if we had even higher numbers of uneducated kids? Not everyone has the ability or time to educate their kids,so we provide schooling for all to benefit the whole country…job skills,prison incarceration rates,crime,murder.

Now to the complaints about property tax essentially nullifying our private property rights. Our economy, and religion almost, is capitalism…everything has a price and everything costs money. Why would it be any different w/ private property? It takes money to have it and money to keep it. If you have plenty of money you have more freedom than someone w/ little. If you need good healthcare then you’d better have money or an expensive insurance policy. Taxes help support the system that guarantees you can be prosperous and relatively safe and protected from invasion and criminals. Taxes that go to schools help minimize the number of kids who turn to crime and victimize the better off people in our society. That’s why we pay taxes,ideally to improve the entire country so that most people can enjoy the fruits of their labor.

If you want no taxes,even property taxes,move to Somalia and pay extortion money to bandits and criminals just so you can stay alive,and also have to pay out large sums of your money to private security militias to protect your property.

Do any of us truly own our land? Aren’t we forced to continue paying for it to the government through property taxes? When we die our heirs have to pay an inheritance tax on it. Some land is even “owned” with the exception of mineral rights. Some people even go so far as to “own” properties governed by home owners associations that dictate what color you can paint your house, what plants you can plant, etc… How is any of this true ownership? Recently the city within which I live tried to re-zone our area to lite industrial, what that meant was no additions to our homes, no building of additional buildings, no replacement of homes if they were over 50% destroyed. If we had not been on our toes where would we be? My state is attempting to purchase millions of acres to be managed by a program called forever wild. I ask, what authority gives the state the right to own this land and manage it for us? All of these things are being done “for the greater good”. I think not.

5) They want to tell us who we can hire and fire in our own businesses which we built with our own hard-earned money, while they partied with theirs.
6) Liberals want to dictate the usage of our own property because an endangered rat or tiny fish might become extinct, things that only they care about, but we better care too or else.
Clearly, the Liberals are the ones who want to Enslave us, not the other way around.

There is no property tax in Cuba and North Korea. But I think you would discover some other problems if you lived there instead of in the United States. Taxation and the right to own property are two separate issues. Property tax is in fact a hallmark of the capitalist system. All capitalist societies and many pre-capitalist ones have taxed property. This tradition existed long before societies decided to tax income. All the Founding Slaveholders for instance paid property taxes both before and after the American Revolution. They accepted this tax and for that reason never placed any prohibitions against it in the 1787 Constitution. If you think you are going to live in a society with zero taxes, you are yearning for a utopia that has never existed in all of human, let alone U.S., history. But that is actually pretty typical for this website. Dream on. But it ain’t gonna happen. Like a Ron Paul presidency.
