Bin Laden SEAL Team Rescues Hostages In Somalia

The same Navy SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden rescued two hostages, one of whom is an American citizen, from kidnappers in Somalia in a raid Tuesday night.

American Jessica Buchanan, 32, and a 60-year-old Dane, Poul Thisted, were kidnapped by “heavily armed common criminals” while working with a Danish demining group near Galcayo, Somalia, on Oct. 25, according to a statement from Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta.

The Associated Press said that the team landed by helicopter near the compound where the two were held and approached the compound under heavy gunfire. Several of the kidnappers were reportedly killed; there was no word that any members of the SEAL team were wounded at the time of this report.

“This successful hostage rescue, undertaken in a hostile environment, is a testament to the superb skills of courageous service members who risked their lives to save others,” Panetta said in the statement. “I applaud their efforts, and I am pleased that Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Thisted were not harmed during the operation.”

President Barack Obama said in a statement, the mission is “yet another message to the world that the United States of America will stand strongly against any threats to our people.”

    Seal Team Six must have new recruits. Bin Laden Seal Team was killed in Afgahnistan. At least that’s the story…

      I noticed that too. So whom is lying and about what?

      Of course they don’t list the members so maybe they have a big team and only killed the ones that knew too much. Such is what conspiracy theories are made of.

      That made me suspicious when I heard that too. Last I heard, they died on a recent mission in Afghanistan. Something about being shot down in a Army Reserve Chinook. Maybe they just replaced the deceased team members?

      j, you should have lived in Germany during WWII. You could have had the same ‘personality’ and the same beliefs there. What is it that’s between your ears that longs for a ‘new sheriff’ in the form of an incompetent prez? Are you thirsting for another war?
      Do you have plans for trying to act like a ‘patriot’ because your prez just happens to have superb warriors in the military? Put a new lock on that closet, comrade.
      Now, if we had a real leader who was equal to the men and women who serve under him, THAT would be great. But, what we have is an anti-leader and a third-rate poser, all wrapped-up in the same empty,

      Do you keep a cheerleader’s uniform in your large closet? At this rate, they’ll be coming to take you away to that Collective Utopian Rest Home shortly.
      If your friends are anything like you, they’ll need huge facilities in all 57 states, to be able to house you and your kind when your mental wrapper starts to disintegrate. It may have already started.
      Kudos to the Navy SEALs! A lukewarm, tin-plated blah to the Poser-in-Chief.
