Obama Emulates Paul Policy

January 17, 2012 by

Obama Emulates Paul Policy

The Ron Paul campaign has long been saying that the Texas Congressman’s rivals in the Republican Presidential Primary make halfhearted attempts to copy his “cut the size of Federal government” message, but the campaign says he now has an unlikely imitator in the Administration of Barack Obama.

A campaign statement pointed out the attempt:

“Just like most of the Republican presidential candidates, President Obama really isn’t going to consolidate government or cut spending. But also like them, the President apparently thinks it’s important to try to sound like Ron Paul. Paul’s budget plan eliminates five federal departments, transferring some functions to other departments, allowing for $1 trillion to be cut in the first year.”

The comparison between Obama and Paul’s GOP rivals comes as the White House recently announced a new plan to consolidate Federal agencies, beginning with those related to trade and commerce. The Administration claims that the plan will eliminate about 1,000 Federal jobs and save $3 billion over a 10-year span.

The President said his plan to consolidate agencies is a part of a promise he made last year during the State of the Union address to create a leaner, more efficient Federal bureaucracy.

Obama will propose combining the functions and staff of six trade- and commerce-related agencies and offices: the Small Business Administration; the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; the Export-Import Bank; the Overseas Private Investment Corporation; and the Trade and Development Agency, according to reports.

The move has been met by opposition from some lawmakers who say it could hamper the government’s ability to quickly implement new trade and commerce programs, but many Republicans have supported the plan because it falls in line with small government policy, according to The Washington Post.

The Paul campaign has pointed out that the President’s plan is little more than a symbolic gesture that will merely put a dent in Federal spending and bureaucracy.

The comment was that ‘God’ is not a ‘he,’ friend, not that ‘God’ is a ‘she.’ Personally, if speaking of any sort of god, I’m of the firm belief that it’s an ‘it.’ I throw my full support behind Reason and Science and the Chaos/Order/’Divinity’ of The Universe, thank you very much. Most of our Founding Fathers were men of reason. I see no reason to find that unreasonable!

  • Al Hill

Obama’s plan calls for a 3 billion dollar savings over 10 years. I’ve also seen a figure of 5 billion over 10 years. The current annual deficit runs at about 1.2 trillion dollars.

Give him the benefit and say he cuts that deficit to one trillion dollars. 5 billion divided by 10 shows an annual saving of 500 million dollars. That figure, 500 million dollars, amounts to an annual cut of .0005% of the one trillion dollar deficit.

That’s not even a respectable rounding error!

Ron Paul’s first year proposes to be one trillion dollars and a balanced budget in three years.

Now consider that the Obama plan would probably take two or three years to even get started. By that time (assuming his re-election) he is a lame duck, he couldn’t care less, and soon after there would be a new president who wouldn’t even know that infinitesimal program even existed.

  • DavidL

A dent in the federal deficit is better than a bump, right? If President Obama is imitating some of the policy prescription proposed by Ron Paul, good for him.

    • Brad

      DavidL,

All it proves is that Ohmama and company don’t have a single original idea to bring this country out from under the rock they have dug us completely under. Now they are taking another man’s ideas and making their own, they are brain dead.

      • http://none R Paul or status quo

Brad, could not have said it better myself, except to inform DavidL that there is nothing “good” about obama copying Ron Paul as he’s just attempting to be able to continue this train wreck on liberty.

    • moonbeam

Oblamer lies through his horse teeth in trying to get elected. Have you not learned this about him by now? He said many thing to get elected the first time and delivered on none of it. I highly suspect those doing the booing were plants. Paul has them on their tippy toes. He is a threat to their existence and way of life and thievery.

  • john

Those of you that have been floating on air and having warm fuzzy thoughts about Ron Paul should run to get and view last nights debates. The true RP was really visible on that stage. Listen to him and watch his body language. The guy has always scared me, he now terrifies me.
Pulling the military back the way he wants to leaves holes all over the world that those that hate us will be able to penetrate to get to us.

All I see in the article is Obama consolidating agencies(more centralization of power) not elimination of them. Very different from Ron Paul.

  • Brogan

Ron Paul has a really bad debate performance last night

    • Jefferson Thomas

well if he had a bad debate performance, that must mean he no longer has principles, no longer uses reason, and is disqualified from being president.

All candidates who perform badly in debates should be immediately disqualified from running for the presidency as determined by a panel of experts in government, unions, and university professors who are debating experts.

      • JeffH

JT, is it human nature to listen to the message or listen to the method of delivering the message? I’m sure you make your judgments based on the contents, not how it looked or sounded, just as most of the Paul supporters do. Why is it that some voters can’t make a sound choice based on the track record of the candidate but would rather get the guy/gal with the nice voice, cloths or hair?

A fake is a fake no matter how they sound or what they look like…with Ron Paul, you get what you see and hear…constitutionally principled man.

        Vote Ron Paul 2012!

      • Bill

Well said. Get off the romantic sexual content of a man and pay attention to what his principals happen to be. Not one of the people who voted for this guy is going to go to bed with him, so forget the envy. We all know this type of psychology is going on, we just don’t want to admit it.

      • libertytrain

Bill — it’s just human nature to be brainwashed by looks and charms in every individual society; however, the fact they don’t recognize they are just following a predisposed wiring problem in the brain demonstrates how easily they are being led by the leash because of looks, a smooth voice, a thick head of hair. Really really blind to reality – if you stop and think about it. Paul is the most “attractive” candidate.

      • http://naver sook young

These are people also, so they aren’t perfect either. If you hold those standards to Ron Paul, then you must hold them to Obama also. As he cannot do any kind of debate or speech without a teleprompter. Thank you.

Actually, I fell asleep about 45 minutes into the debate, though I spoke with my mother this morning (who watched the entire thing) and she was of the opinion that RP did *great* last night, even receiving a standing ovation at one point. I was disappointed to see the CNN clip about his being boo’ed over foreign policy. Is the Deep South full of warmongers, by chance?

      • Brogan

Actually he was booed about 3 times

      • Alex Frazier

It was Newt that got the standing ovation for defending his stance that you children should be allowed to work, which is an idea that has been criticized and despised for nearly four decades in America. Imagine that. I personally agree with him, but I do think it’s ironic that people criticize defense of Chinese goods because they “use child labor.” lol

And yes, South Carolina is apparently populated with warmongers. I’m proud to be a South Carolinian, but I’m not proud of the boos Ron Paul got for his conviction that war is a bad a thing no matter what way you try to paint it.

    • Alex Frazier

I agree that he did poorly in the debate. I let it slide personally because I know what’s in his head. And I know that being a great public speaker isn’t a necessary prerequisite to being a competent president. If public performances and charisma were the hallmarks of a good president, then we’d have nothing more to discuss. We already have a phenomenally charismatic man in office now.

Nevertheless, he didn’t express himself clearly, and he seemed to stumble over himself. He did have a few strong moments, but that’s not what really stood out to me.

  • Jefferson Thomas

Come on folks, Barry ain’t pissin’ on down our backs, it’s rainin’ warm yellow rain…try to get yer facks straight.

What is yer problem? Y’all act like government has been increasin’ in size on a consistent basis er sumthin’.

Using Obummer’s ‘logic,’ maybe Paul should move ‘to the far left’ so he can suck up to America’s retarded utopians. But, that would be illogical, so there’s NO point in assuming that Obummer is moving to the ‘right,’ people. THIS IS POLITICS!
We’re dealing with a wannabe Emperor. We’re dealing with a warped personality, and he’s nothing less than a ‘legend in his own mind.’ We’re temporarily saddled with what amounts to something of a curse.
Do you remember when Bubba Clinton tried to act like he was ‘moving to the right’ to make his robots think he was caving to the ‘other’ side?
It’s smoke-and-mirrors, folks. A skunk can’t change its shape, colors or its odor. Some people just don’t get it, but then they gave up that ability when they became ‘professional’ utopians.
And, as the rest of us know, a utopian would sell his parents, just to get a few bucks to help elect yet another useful idiot, tin-plated, scum-sucking puke. It’s not only ‘in the contract,’ folks. It’s in their DNA.

    • John Woodbury

I lived in Houston and knew Dr. Paul in 1978, he has not changed one bit. I do not like him but he has my vote as this country needs to be saved.

  • spike

Ron paul’s performance in the s.c. debate should have dispelled any notion that this guy is capable of being the POTUS. He is the village idiot. In one breath he says he would NOT cut military spending and then in less than 60 seconds he says he would cut federal taxes to zero. HUH?? He lost his grip on reality so damm long ago he is permanently in his own fantasy land populated by the Paulbots. I would vote for Obama before I would vote for the poser.
    spike

    • Jefferson Thomas

I did not watch the debate last night. Did congressman Paul say he would cut Federal taxes to zero or did he say he would cut Federal INCOME TAXES to zero? There are ways other than income taxes to raise money for operation of the federal government.

    • dozerboy

      Spike,
You obviously have very little understanding of economics and the constitution. I’m guessing you are one of those who mistakingly believe that higher taxes equals higher revenue. It just ain’t so and can be proven historically. We had a strong military long before the unconstitutional income tax was instituted. the fact is, is that the gov’t does NOT need revenues generated by income theft to operate. Income taxes are merely a mechanism to control people and consumption. The constitution says that INDIRECT taxes in the form of excises, tariffs, imposts and duties are authorized, and must be applied according to census and enumeration. The 16th amendment, (which was never properly ratified) put this clause into conflict. It also says that ONLY congress has the power to coin money and regulate the value thereof. NOT a central bank (“federal” reserve bank). Ron Paul understands these basic constitutional, and economic concepts and is the ONLY candidate willing to stand up for those principles and for the document that forms the basis for rule of law in our nation. May God help him to articulate that message.

      • dozerboy

I mis-spoke….Direct taxes must be in accordance with census and enumeration…INDIRECT taxes are to be applied uniformly. At anyrate, This is why Dr Paul is correct in cutting illegal gov’t beuracracies and taxes and force the gov’t to do only what it is allowed to do, using only money it is authorized to have and get in a legal manner.

    • http://none R Paul or status quo

      Ron Paul 2012

    • Alex Frazier

spike, I hear what you’re saying, and I can understand how and why that might seem to make sense to you.

But understand that taxes are only necessary because of spending. Paul wants to reduce the income tax to 0%; i.e. he wants to eliminate it. The natural reaction is, “how then do we pay for things?” The answer is, you stop paying for them. Trim the fat. If you spend less, you need less revenue.
He wants to cut military spending, but not defense spending. Even if all he did was bring the troops home, we would save untold billions of dollars by employing them domestically rather than internationally.

    • http://naver sook young

Ron Paul all the way and then some … Airborne! I would *love* to see the final debates between Obama and Paul. Obama would be stuttering and sputtering and melting into a pool of jello and Paul would finally and *firmly* win over the hearts and minds of all Americans. Liberty for all!

    • Brian

You aren’t payong attention. Polls show Paul statistically tied with Obama. Romney is the only ither Republican polling close to Obama. And Romney is simply Obama’s white half.

    • Alex Frazier

CP, since the libertarians hate Romney, and since many of them have openly declared that if they can’t vote for Ron Paul they’ll vote for Obama, and since the libertarians constitute approximately 20% of the voting Republican party, it’s a plain fact that if anyone other than Ron Paul is nominated, the Republicans will lose, because 20%ish of their voting base will evaporate.

Plus, Ron Paul is statistically tied with Obama in the polls.

I think you need to do some fact checking.

LOL 2012 is going to be the biggest battle we have seen since the election of 1860. It would be far better to start demanding that Romney and the rest of the remaining four to step down and support Paul. It is the only hope we have to save the Republic, The Constitution and our liberties.

Funny that the sheeple have come to believe our country is a democracy when the Founders set it up to be a Representative Republic. Democracy is mob-rule. “Democracy: two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.” Heh. Hand out U.S Constitutions to everyone!

        1. The fool hath said in his heart,”There is no God.” Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
        2. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
        3. Every one of them has gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
        4. Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
        5. There they were in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.

        Psalms 53

This says it all as God will destroy the atheists, save his people, and bring them the safety in our God. This is the sae God that made us a nation. His words, the Bible, Jdeo-Christian principles, Biblical Law, the Ten Commandments, and other things is what this country was founded on and nothing dealing with atheism is to be found no where in our founding. Everything the Obamir currently endeavors to do is for the sole purpose of getting reelected. The class “poor vs. rich” argument started by the unions and OWS was started because “rich is bad” and Romney isn’t exactly poor. Ron Paul gains some momentum with cutting government waste, well, the Obamir is for that too. What next? A fight to curb abortions Mr President? Make all Americans pay their fair share of taxes? Enact a free voter identification system so your voters can have more than one ID?

King Obamir is a joke. America does not need an Emperor.

Ron Paul 2012!…AND Term Limits on the House and Senate of one term of six years for the Senate and one term of two years for the House…What? We won’t have any ‘experience’ up there? Well, it’s done a real good job so far hasn’t it? The bottom line is that it will change the type of people getting those jobs and will change their actions once up there in DC – AND will change the ‘need’ for government to keep growing!

The USA has one shot at survival, Dr. Ron Paul. Whether you like him or not, I do not; He is the only person who will not continue business as usual after the election. If the Republicans put forth Romney we will have a pick of Obama or Obama lite, either way we are f(*&ed.
