Johns Hopkins Baffled By 'Least Rigorous'

BALTIMORE, Jan. 6 (UPI) — Officials at Maryland’s Johns Hopkins University said they do not know why the school was ranked among the “least rigorous” by Newsweek and the Daily Beast.

University spokesman Dennis O’Shea said administrators are baffled by the school’s appearance on Newsweek and the Daily Beast’s list of “schools that will get you a top-notch degree for the least amount of work” as voted on in online surveys, The Washington Post reported Friday.

“The reaction around here was a collective scratch of the head and a unanimous ‘Huh?’” O’Shea said.

A spokesman for the Daily Beast and Newsweek said the surveys asked about the school’s workload and professors, student-to-faculty ratios, average SAT scores and retention rates.
