Vultures Annoy Georgia Neighborhood

LEESBURG, Ga., Jan. 3 (UPI) — Residents of a Georgia neighborhood said hundreds of black turkey vultures have become a nuisance in the area.
People living on Pelham Drive in Leesburg said the vultures first arrived a few months ago and have been damaging roofs and leaving droppings on cars ever since, WALB-TV, Albany, Ga., reported Tuesday.
“I just think that, that many in one place has got to be a health hazard I would think,” resident Chan Sellers said. “They come in here every morning around 8:30 or 9 and then mid-day, they clear out, go hunting, but then they come back in the afternoon and it just seems like there’s 500, 600 of them.”
The neighbors said they contacted Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources but were told the birds are a federally protected species. However, the department promised to send officers in the coming months.
