Massachusetts School District Reinstates Santas

SAUGUS, Mass., Dec. 20 (UPI) — A Massachusetts superintendent has reversed his decision not to allow firefighters dressed as Santa Claus to visit public schools.
Superintendent Richard Langlois of the Saugus school district announced Monday morning firefighters would not be reprising the role they have played at the city’s schools since 1962, but said later in the day the decision had been reversed and the policy would be revisited next year, The Daily Item, Lynn, Mass., reported Tuesday.
Langlois declined to comment further.
School committee member Arthur Grabowski said the committee was not consulted by Langlois prior to Monday morning’s announcement.
“This is political correctness gone awry,” Grabowski said. “[Langlois] runs the day-to-day operations of the school, but this should have been a discussion that we had as a full school committee in my opinion.”
