Missouri Dachshund Headed Home From Florida

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 19 (UPI) — Animal rescuers in Florida said a stray dachshund was traced to a Missouri family and will soon be reunited with her owners.
Michael Honer, a veterinary technician for Hillsborough Animal Services, said officials do not know how the dog, Addison, ended up in Florida and they are unsure of how long she has been separated from her Kansas City family, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Monday.
Honer said he decided to help Addison because he has five dachshunds at home. He gave her a dental cleaning and arranged for her transportation home with a local rescue group, Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education.
Crista Banks, of North Tampa, said she will use her frequent-flyer miles to fly with the dog to Kansas City.
Banks said the airline agent bumped her and Addison up to first class because he was also a dachshund lover.
“It just all came together,” she said.
