The OWS-Black Friday Connection

November 29, 2011 by

The OWS-Black Friday Connection

The shopping mantra for American consumaholics this year is, “We know the future is hopeless, but we’re not going to allow the bad economy to ruin our holiday season.” If you doubt their determination to let the good times roll, just ask the crazed Black Friday shoppers who were pepper-sprayed at a Los Angeles Wal-Mart by a woman who wasn’t about to miss out on one of the most sought after necessities of life: an Xbox.

Of course, those who were merely pepper-sprayed got off easy. Being at Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Kohl’s last weekend made Kandahar seem like a safe haven. During the three-day Thanksgiving shopping marathon, some consumaholics were punched, elbowed, stabbed and even shot. You have to admire the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to get their fair share of discounted playthings that they desperately need to keep their gray matter anesthetized.

You could just picture many of them taking their electronic toys back to their Occupy Wall Street tents and falling into a peaceful slumber, thinking to themselves, “Mission accomplished.” And today, you can bet they’re right back on the front lines fighting those evil guys on Wall Street. You know, the ones who have given Barack Obama more money than any candidate in history.

If none of this phases you, try imagining what these lost souls will be like when they’re on the hunt for the basic necessities of life: little things like food, water and weapons. But that could be two or three years away; there’s no sense in their getting exercised about it right now. Today, focusing on discounted Xboxes takes all the energy they can muster.

I do not mean to imply that all Black Friday shoppers are Occupy Wall Streeters or that all Occupy Wall Streeters are Black Friday shoppers. But the two groups have at least three things in common: They are very materialistic, they are angry about what they don’t have and they have no qualms about resorting to mob violence.

When I use the word “materialistic,” I’m referring to wealth. To be clear, wealth is not what someone earns. Wealth is what someone “owns.” Wealth is comprised of cars, buildings, computers, television sets and iPods.

But wealth has to be created. It takes money, management and labor to produce all of those cars, buildings, computers, television sets and iPods. The predicament that America now finds itself in is that there’s a lot of money and management around, but not enough labor. At least, there’s not enough labor at a cost that allows companies to manufacture goods at prices consumers are willing to pay.

Of course, there’s plenty of labor in places like China, India, Pakistan, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Haiti, Thailand and many other countries. So it’s no mystery why these countries now produce a great deal of wealth.

The reason the Western world is broke is because it doesn’t have a workforce that is willing to work at wages that are competitive with non-Western nations. And the reason workers are unwilling to accept internationally competitive wages is because they can afford to be choosy. Unemployment benefits, food stamps and other forms of welfare remove the motivation to work at any job that is available to them, at whatever wage is being offered, in order to feed and clothe their families.

Speaking from personal experience, the two threats that motivated me to work so hard early in my career were homelessness and starvation. But these two factors no longer motivate people who are unemployed, because the government forces those with wealth to provide food, clothing and shelter to those who don’t have the necessities.

With these factors removed from the survival equation, people can afford to camp out at Best Buy, Target and Wal-Mart for days on end and elbow, stab, shoot and pepper-spray those who would stand in the way of their getting their fair share of stuff at the lowest possible prices.

There’s no way to prove it, but I’d be willing to bet that a disproportionate number of those who had nothing better to do than camp out in front of superstores for several days prior to Black Friday are classified as “poor” by the Federal government. But how in the world can poor people afford to go shopping for electronic toys?

That’s a good question. Here are some facts about people whom the Census Bureau defines as “poor” that may help to answer it:

  • Forty-three percent own their own homes.
  • Eighty percent have air conditioning in their homes.
  • Almost 75 percent of poor households have a car, and 31 percent have more than one.
  • Ninety-seven percent have a color television set and 62 percent have cable or satellite TV.
  • Eighty-nine percent own microwave ovens.

Clearly, being poor in America is much better than being middle class in many countries. In fact, so-called poor people in the United States live as well as those in the median American household of the early 1970s. When you get right down to it, poverty is relative. But as the living standards of the poor rise, vote-hungry politicians simply make those rising standards the new baseline for poverty.

The problem is that the Western world — from Greece to California, from Italy to New York — is running out of wealth. That being the case, the masses are fully prepared to vote for politicians who will assure them that their benefits will not be cut — provided they aren’t drunk, stoned, dead or in jail on Nov. 6.

Now hear this: There is no constituency for cutting entitlements!

What does that mean? It means a worthless U.S. currency, which in turn means that, ultimately, the masses will not have the resources to take part in those midnight pepper-spray riots on Black Friday. And that’s when the Occupy Wall Street crowds will swell, and the anger and violence will ramp up to French Revolution proportions. Mob violence is already programmed into our future.

But, as I said, that probably won’t happen for at least several more years. In the meantime, eat, drink and be merry and enjoy the holiday season. And, for goodness sake, be sure to get an Xbox. When all hell breaks loose, you might just be able to get some OWS loon to take it in exchange for a 9 mm Glock — or at least a hunting knife.

It still boils down to understanding how life works. If you want what I have, put in the time, put in the sacrifice, save for the emergencies, be self sufficient and prepared, do without until you can afford to pay for it from money that you have earned by the sweat of your brow, stay out of debt, and share by “your” choice of whom you and your family will help to also become self sufficient. Be thankful for your blessings, and pass them on to those in need. Forgive others and forget why. Enjoy the journey and remember that it continues on the other side of the veil.

I think alot of this is hype and black friday shoppers get too much dirt on them. Hell if anything, aren’t black friday shoppers giving a good kick to the corporations by at least giving fewer bucks to them for goods in return? I agree that completely boycotting them would be real damage, but who on Earth, even the most hard core surviavlists among us doesn’t purchase at least a few products from them??

The alternative media is just as guilty as the mainstream media on the account of hyping up low instance events. At the Kohls I was at at Black Friday, there were SWARMS of people and guess what? Everyone was CIVILIZED and ORDERLY. No one punched anyone, stabbed anyone, etc. For every crazy shopper out there willing to punch and stab, there are thousands who behave in a civilized fashion. Of course we know that talking about the good majority is bad business and boring. We want to hear all about the crazed lunatic and say how it must mean society is crumbling. No, maybe not. See its basic probability and statistics. If millions and millions shop on black friday (smarter than giving more money to the corporations at other times in a year), then odds are yes, you will get some stabbings, just like in bigger populations, you have more low probability births of geniuses and seriel murderers because a low chance of a big number means some will fit the bill….

Now when the crap hits the fan, EVERYONE will be DESPERATE for their food, becuase otherwise they WILL STARVE TO DEATH. Why is this a bad thing to do whatever you have to eat? Should these people just sit in their homes and starve to death?

This is not really fair. There’s nothing wrong with getting a good deal, is there? (As long as you don’t get violent)

I watched these Black Friday swarms with amazement. Perpetuated by corporations and the almighty dollar just ruined my favorite Holiday. I haven’t bought a Christmas Present except one for my grandson in 5yrs. Going to sales like this would be irresponsible in my eyes giving my unemployment. I grow my own vegitables year around in pots because the soil is too poor and floods often. I have central air/heat that hasn’t been turned on except once a year for a day just to work the mechanics/maintenance. I can’t afford the extra electricity. I just sweat in the summer and put on more clothes in the winter. I also hunt and fish for meat. Its a far cry from what my retirement was suppose to be but at least it keeps me off of Food Stamps and unemployment is not an option in my state. You would be surprised at what you can get by without when you have to. But spending money on something as little as a fast food hamburger is out of the question with my limited budget. Until this old man can get a job this is what I will have to do to get by. All of this OWS or Black Friday stuff is baffeling to me to say the least.

Corporations set up these Black Friday scams to make profits and apparently they work. Yet the author twists it around and make ordinary Americans look like evil people for falling for it. Then he even attempts to blame OWS for anything out of the ordinary. I do not shop on Black Friday but then again I seldom worry about the things others people have. I buy what I can afford and when I can afford it and my kids have learned to accept that decades ago.

      • http://deleted Claire

I buy a small present made in the USA for everyone to open, and then I give them money. I am not going to stomp around the mall and the other stores. What I don’t see cannot hurt me. LOL I always find stuff I want for myself!!! All kidding aside, I find this to be much easier, they can get what they want.
I do not compare OWS to Black Friday. Two separate entities. There are always some people that resort to violence in order to “get what they want.” It is stupid.

    • Theotherhalf

I refuse to buy squat this year for Christmas. As a liberal libertarian I’m not buying into a “Christian” holiday promoted for the expressed purpose of capitalism. It’s gonna be a quiet celebration enjoying the family no pressure to buy, no stress trying to please everyone. No rearranging the house for two weeks and then cleaning it all up. , the kind of Christmas I’ve wanted for 50+ years. Simple,Thoughtful and prayerful.

      • Karolyn

If everybody felt like you, this country would be in even worse shape! It is incumbent on Americans to spend money if they have it. Companies are not hiring because people aren’t buying. Simple. On ABC World News tonight – How many jobs can be created by each person buying one American-made gift.

      • http://deleted Claire

Karolyn: here in town they promoted “Buy from local small businesses” this past Saturday. From what I hear they did pretty good. “Buy presents “made in the USA.” Always.

      • Karolyn

I watched tonight, and they said if each shopper spent $64 on one American made item, it would create over 200,000 jobs! They really have been running a great series, getting people to buy American. People are contacting them from all over the country with suggestions of items made in America. Unfortunately, no electronics can be found.

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
Yet the majority of posters here will purchase from wally world!!!!!

      • libertytrain

The other half makes no sense – simple prayerful Christmas but bah humbug to the Christian Holiday of Christmas. Seems to me that is what Christmas is – a prayerful time. Perhaps you should be irate with the Germans – when Queen Victoria’s German husband brought his traditions to England and then it got to be what it is from there.

I agree with most of what you said, the exception being about the poor beong violent, and harming people . I am poor but not by choice; i became disabled after 3 strokes at the age of 38! I personally can be a damgerois man, even disabled, but i abhor violence as a means to an end umless it is absplutely needed. Our society has driven SOME POOR to that point buy this stereotyping of the poor. The majority of the workforce is poor, and all these taxes and fees keep tjem poor.

  • FreedomFighter

    Words of warning:

GET YOUR MONEY OUT OF BANKS NOW!

IMHO the destruction of the money system is coming within months after the Christmas spending spree and all the fools are in debt from spending what they don’t have, the NWO will kick in on Q with riots, martial law and then WAR. The banksters will call in all the loans and take anything and everything they can from you.

Make sure you have the physical deeds to your paid for homes and all other financial paperwork that proves ownership. Have your food prep done, weapons and ammunition on hand, water source and filters ready.

I’ve tried to tell my family and those close to me what is going to happen, whether it happens right after Christmas or 2 to 3 years…One thing I have learned(and I do have over 2000 ounces of silver, weapons, and almost 200 ounces of gold) is that the ‘powers that be’ can make things happen a lot slower than one would think. So, I don’t know if it will be this winter, next winter, or winters after that but I am going to be prepared and ANYONE that has wherewithall at all to be prepared – be prepared…

      • Angel Wannabe

Brian, Its tough, when ya have family that thinks your some kind nut for merely wanting to be prepared. My kids 29-31 are comin’ round but they still see the material things they have right now, they’ve not the forth sight to look down the road for danger, or the possible loss of they’re materials, I guess preparedness comes with age._It’s easier still, to say you can handle it, if you lost everything tomorrow, while standing in the warmth and comfort of your own home._We lost our home to a fire in 90, so we’ve been with and been without.__Somehow ya make it.

      • FreedomFighter

“right after Christmas or 2 to 3 years”

In this case I sure would not mind being wrong, a few years and maybe we Americans can muster what it takes to stop it. Unfortunate for US the NWO has a time table and it culminates 2012. If you know why 2012 is so important to finish up plans, please do share.

This is a BS article. How can you possibly associate OWS with Black Friday. What a joke. This author must be a 1%. It is a sham that no one that caused this horrific downfall of our economy and forced thousands of people to lose their jobs are not being prosecuted. This was fraud at its best and the Republicans want to continue to let these people have tax breaks that no one else gets to make sure there is a divide between classes. Soon, you will be either rich or poor and no middle class and no small business. These one percenters want it all. They are the greediest bunch of slime this country has ever dealt with.

..Sides Marvin, Repubs only have control of the House of Representatives…

    • eddie47d

Marvin is correct and this article is just another set up. Marvin should have included the Democrats in his complaint though.

    • James

Marvin M., What caused this Recession is that too many people, cities, states, and the federal government went too far in debt. They had no reserve to fall back on, and when the housing market couldn’t talk any more people into buying homes, even with low interest rates, no down payment, and no minimum income requirement, the market stalled then collapsed. That then triggered related businesses to fail, followed by necessary layoffs. Some cities are now declaring that they are bankrupt, and some States, especially California, are also in dire straights. This isn’t over, the worst is yet to come. Blaming this on bankers and governments is partially correct, but it was masses of people who fell for it, and irresponsibly plunged into debt.

      • Joe H.

        James,
California doesn’t belong on that list!!! California got into that dire straights by their entitlement mentality and their welcoming unlimited illegals into the state. Those illegals, or at least a large percentage of them then go on welfare, collect a free college education, and all the rest of the freebies there is!!! now their budget is so inflated they can’t cover it!!!

    • Doug

Wow your really don’t know your butt from anything do you? Here is a little something on taxes you might want to check out next time you want to say how well the Demorats are doing things along with that they give a rats butt about you! See below for your homework!

First off, what President Bush enacted into law cut taxes across the board on everyone, not just the upper echelon. The 15 percent rate dropped to 10 percent, 27 percent to 25 percent, 30 percent to 28 percent, 35 percent to 33 percent, and 39.6 percent to 35 percent. Now go ahead and ask a lib which income bracket received the highest cut. Oh, snap: That would be the lowest income threshold, which nosedived five percentage points.

The whole “tax cuts for the rich” is pure bunk, a lie that liberals shamelessly popularize. Not that this should surprise us one bit. Here we have a Democrat Party in America that couldn’t agree on a puny $1.2 trillion in spending reductions over a 10-year-period. That means that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi’s minions refused to slice off what amounts to $120 billion dollars a year of a federal budget nearly topping $4 trillion. Instead they insisted that taxes be jacked up to pay for their statist programs.

Next up, we have the line that tax cuts blew the lid off of our deficit. That’s funny, because during the last year a Republican budget controlled Congress (fiscal year 2007), the deficit stood at a minuscule $161 billion dollars. $161 billion! That’s at least five years into the tenure of those evil tax cuts. Moreover, as HUMAN EVENTS has previously reported, federal tax receipts actually went up while the tax cuts were accelerating. In other words, the United States Treasury received more money not less because of the Bush tax cuts that we’re told ruined America’s economy.

      See for yourself:

      $1.88 trillion in 2004

      $ 2.15 trillion in 2005

      $ 2.4 trillion in 2006

      $ 2.6 trillion in 2007

The last figure was actually the highest dollar amount brought into the Treasury Department… ever. That’s right, folks. While Democrats wail and whine about tax cuts as the main culprit for this country’s deficit woes, it turns out that we were bringing in bagfuls of money at historic proportions during that same time.

  • mark

Libertarians are often right when they talk about the many things that are wrong with our gov’t. But they have a much harder time accepting the many things that are wrong with the American people. This stems from the idea that the American people are just great if they could only live in a freer market with less taxes and regulation. In fact, Americans are fanatical, totally unbalanced consumers and it is one of the things that has hurt our economic strength for many decades now. The last couple of generations of Americans have had this attitude of: “I want it all, and I want it now!” Our grandparents were not like this. In the last couple of generations, gov’t debt is not the sole problem – personal debt and corporate debt are equally troubling and telling problems. We don’t just have an irresponsible gov’t, we have an irresponsible people. But Americans don’t like to hear such hard truths. They prefer to listen to politician who tell them what they want to hear, if we just cut taxes and gov’t spending everything will be all right. No, there are deeper structural problems with our economy much of which is based on a credit card mentality, a contempt toward saving for the future, and mad belief that materialism is the cure-all for everything.

    • eddie47d

So true mark in that we want things we can’t pay for and don’t absolutely need.

    • Brian

It hurts when the knife cuts you…I agree…

      • Doug

Yes if this is how you lived your life but for us who don’t live this way we have had enough of paying for people who don’t want to work. Their are millions of us who work and save and do the right thing OWS and and politicians are curse on America!

      • mark

Many in OWS are sincere and trying to rescue America from Wall Street’s corporate strangle-hold on our freedom. At least you can unelect politicians. But how do we unelect Wall Street which has a giant everyday impact on all our lives without many of us even realizing it.

      • Joe H.

        Mak,
I wonder how many her defending OWS are collecting a wall street backd pension or retirement? how many of those protesters have parents that are living on one. Just like eddie, they curse and convict wall street and live on money from wall street!! Kinda hypocritical, wouldn’t you say??

    • Marty S.

mark, I agree we are a very good at conspicuous consumption and are highly adept at using debt to fund our lifestyles. Not really an American Dream after the bill comes eh?

  • Henry Ledbetter

Being content with such things as Our Lord has allowed us to have doesn’t seem to be a part of the American psychic. There were six of us children and I am the baby of the family. My father was a sharecropper until I was nine and I remember him getting sick and almost dying. As he was recovering, a friend of ours told him about a job as janitor in a boys dorm at the University of Alabama. He finally earned enough to move us to an old apartment building in Tuscaloosa. To make a long story short, that job became his goal in life and he loved it dearly. He was like a father to every young man that came his way and it almost killed him when they made him retire at age 70. He never had a car but rode an old bicycle . The family put me up to asking him if we could give him a car. I will never forget his immediate response. He said, “Son I know you all love me but what would I do with one of those things; they are nothing but trouble.” He went on to say that he could do everything that needed to be done to keep his bicycle going including truing up the wheels by adjusting the spokes and changing his own tires but he looked on a car as nothing but trouble. I look on my dad as the greatest man other than JESUS that I have had the privilege to know. He loved everyone and my great desire is to be more like them.

“many of them taking their electronic toys back to their Occupy Wall Street tents”

While the disgusted view of “consumaholics” is justified tying this to OWS is specious at best. Regardless of value or lack thereof of OWS this comparison only shows prejudice on the part of the author. The only “mob violence” displayed thus far was in the pepper spraying of sitting protestors. When it comes to materialism the Republicans must be tarred by the same brush. Their revolt against taxation is a desire to have more for themselves even though their elected representatives have spent the money. The only examples of spending less come from hypocritical demands of cutting the “other guy’s” stuff.

    • http://google Marvin McCardle

      Mike, you are absolutely right.

Obviously, you have not been paying attention. Those “protestors” have admitted to baiting the police and that they did surround them and taunt them. They are lucky that the cops only used pepper spray and not batons. They deserved what they got.

WHAT A LOAD OF BUNK!!! NeoConservatives blindly dismiss their own flaws – operate in the fantasy that if McNuts had gotten to the Oval Office everything would be all better – and ignore the fact that the main thing that got Soetoro in office was to change from the abject LACK of accountability of the NeoCons – to bring our troops home – end the senseless actually counterproductive drone strikes that incite hatred against us.

OWS is a diverse group – NeoCons are taking worst case situations and broad brushing them to appear normative – which is disgusting

    • Dntmkmecmoverther

      You’re kidding, right?

The ‘change’ this imbecile president brought was to enlarge our debt from 180 billion to 4 trillion in under 3 yrs. Is that what you define as ‘good change’? God sakes man!

When Obummer took office the cost of a gallon of gas was $1.79 within 6 months it was over $3.00 It now hovers at around $3.49 OOOOPSS!

Unemployment was 7 % when Obummer came into office; now it has ‘locked in’ at 9.3% average, but many parts of the country where manufacturing jobs are the mainstay, have 16-25% unemployment…OOOOPS!

Obummer spent 1.2 trillion is ‘stimulus’ which trickled down the leg of no one except his cronies. I felt no stimulus; no help….oooops!

Troop count on the ground in Afghanistan is up 30,000 since Obummer’s admin. Ooops!

Drones have killed three hard to find terrorists who were considered a clear and present danger to the US. Ooooops!

On foreign policy, our president has humiliated us all. The very man who is to be the salesman for America has become our apology expert.

If I had to pick ‘Enemy #1′ in America, I would point to the clown in the Whitehouse currently. In 3 yrs he as decimated the economy, ruined our foreign policy and swung open the southern border to invaders. I don’t know what else this idiot has in store for us, but I pray he is GONE in 2012. We won’t last another 4 under this kind of ‘leadership’.

Unemployment was over 20% when FDR was reelected and the wars grew even more fiercer. Most people back then during the depression knew who finagled this mess and didn’t take it all out on FDR. The Democrats and Republicans who are responsible should be booted out and put the blame exactly where it belongs. The whole burden doesn’t just fall on Obama although you are trying to make it so. You are painting a very large wall with your brush strokes.

      • Brian

Eddie47d – I obviously didn’t agree with a previous comment and said so but your comments as I read down this article indicate that you are a thinking kind of person…And I appreciate that…Sorry for what I said; I can admit it when I am wrong…

Thats why I use Buckshoot Eddie incase I am not shooting straight that day that the kind of brush stroke we need!

As a kid I remember, the Jingle of the Salvation Army Bell and Christmas Music playing through out the town, signaled that the Christmas Season was here. It use to be fun to go shopping on Black Friday, we even use to travel to Philly to do it!__Forget that Now!__ we use to see people that we hadn’t seen since the Christmas before. It took all day to shop, in what should’ve taken a couple hours at most. The Shoppers were Jolly and the Restaurants were packed with shoppers grabbing a bite to eat, in between buying gifts….

I haven’t shopped on Black Friday for 15 years or more and if Pepper Spray, and walking over and around an Old man who collapsed on the floor is the norm these days, then I don’t see myself venturing out any time soon on Black Friday.__
Mob Mentality, is about what Christmas shopping amounts to today__

As for wealth building__The Youth today don’t want to wait a Life time to amass wealth, like we did, they want it ALL tomorrow, as if it’s a sign of success!

If the Obama Admin keeps tapping the Wealthy for more and more taxes, they’ll in time be poor too.
Margret Thatcher former British Prime Minister said, “The Problem with Socialism, is eventually you run out of other peoples money”

BTW, My husband works at Dicks Sporting Goods, on Black Friday they received and Emergency Email at EVERY STORE, that a local Dicks was attacked by a Flash Mob_-They filled shopping carts with goods and then left them in a line at checkout and then left the building. They disrupted all commerce.

If your interested in what OWS is up too, check out the link below. Read the chat lines for a while and watch the live stream__I can’t believe this is America!

Angel, oh, I agree. I remember when Black Friday was just the sales day for the day after Thanksgiving – no name given to it. And you’re right, it was fun. Big sales, seeing friends, eating lunch out. Now I wouldn’t be caught at one of these Black Friday events. Downright embarrassing for the Country to have folks behave this way.

      • Angel Wannabe

Libertytrain, I had my own business, before that, I worked in Fashion retail_Management. _Now I work in Bars and I get the drunks!___and while, the Holidays produce many emotions, some sad because of loved ones lost, they’re the ones who can be nasty, mostly excitement and Happy customers__TODAY it’s an emotional roller coaster!__My Husband and Daughter both work at Dicks and some of the stories they come with at the Holidays especially is unbelievable!

      • libertytrain

here’s to the loved ones lost – just had that happen to me right before Thanksgiving. Thanks for the memories.

      • Angel Wannabe

Liberty Train, My Great Grandfather died on Christmas Eve, and Aunt died 2 days before Christmas, and my Grandfather a fews days after the New Year. My Mother died two days before our son’s 16th birthday.

        Angel Wannabe,
while theirpassing was a great loss to you, think of this. at least they don’t have to see how far our country has fallen and see how much further they will fall. That would’ve probably broken their heart. God Bless!!!

      • JeffH

Angel and libertytrain…agreed. This is how our MSM chooses to report…seems morality is in short supply.

      • James

Libertytrain, I’m curious. This is the first year I’ve heard the expression ‘Black Friday.’ What does the ‘Black’ stand for? Who started referring to the day following Thanksgiving as ‘Black Friday?’

      • independant thinker

James, I long wondered the same thing. Last night I read an article that said the term “Black Friday” started being used because the sales that day put many companies in the black for the year profit wise.

      • libertytrain

It has been that for about 20 years at least and yes, it’s to get the retailers out of the red and into the Black.

      • Karolyn

James – It’s been called Black Friday for years.

Interesting times await us, madness prevailing. Should we laugh now or should we cry? Are things going to get better or worse? Does anyone know and the point is how many still really care? It feels like waiting in anticipation of disaster, no escape, no way forward and no way back. What exactly are we doing, where are we headed and why did we do what we did? It was wrong, was’nt it,or am I now the only insane person on the planet? Is hope all that’s left?

    • http://AOL LIsa

Hope is all that we have ever had and what allows us to move forward even in these troubling times.

So Karolyn what kind of “order” should prevail after the impending collapse?

  • Alex

Another clear indication that the old Reich Wing is now the Fright Wing. Never an ounce of hope in the face of the bleak future you point out—a future that may well arrive. The thing with the Robert Ringers of the world is that everything, EVERYTHING must have a market value, a price—the Earth itself, food, even people. So sad and absolutely misguided in terms of its focus.

Any ‘Spiritual’ person, any person of ‘Faith’, if truly listening for the Word of God or the Gods, would see that only sensible plan for Creation would be to Bless us with a beautiful home to share. Ringer and his type see God as some insolent ten year-old boy shaking red and black ants in a jar to see some action. Pathetic.

While I try not to be too forceful in defense of or in discussion of God, as no human can really ever know in this lifetime who or what God is or if She or He or Them or It even exists, the idea of any God that would enjoy watching us draw lines across Earth and building walls rather than bridges is absurd.

Anyone who thinks that God sees our selfish, wasteful, people- and planet-endangering country as special or to be particularly Blessed should sit down and think about just what that means. Seriously, who’s zooming who?

    • Dntmkmecmoverther

Alex said: “no human can really ever know in this lifetime who or what God is or if She or He or Them or It even exists,”

Sorrier words were never typed Alex. The next time you look outside at nature, and it all WORKS without reloading, polishing, oiling or refueling, think on what sustains all that is. That is the ‘general revelation’ that God exists.

There is also His Word; which proclaims that God exists. CAn we ‘prove it’? No. But there is ample evidences provided in scripture; God is a perfect gentlemen; he does not force one to believe. You are free to reject Him. (although I don’t recommend it)

St. Paul summed it up well:
      Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

      • eddie47d

I think you overlooked Alex’s point in why do the authors always shake up the ants in turning one side against the other. I seldom see a bridge built here but plenty is torn down each and every day. We come out angrier and God probably wouldn’t approve of that.

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
no, he said “you see GOD as a ten year old shaking a jar of red and black ants” What do you not understand about that? Where did he mention “authors” in that statement? Comprehension, eddie!!

      • patrick H.T. paine

        “To conquer, first DIVIDE!”

        Wasting time?

“Can we prove it? NO…..but ”

There is no BUT……and that is just to PROVE mere existance which still leaves all those individual traits and myths for the specifically different religions and sects of religions…..

All of which pertains to your “eternal” reward……and “possible
judgement”…..one of these “religions”, the one usually claimed here
clearly says……”Love your neighbor” and “AS you treat the least of my bretheren”…….and ” My kingdom is NOT of this earth” and
“Let him who is without sin…..”……..and that thing about rich men in heaven……

But why quibble….you can’t prove it and you are not only in no hurry
to find out……..I’m really not seeing or feeling any of the qualities that would actually earn that “reward” you seem concerned
that the rest of us will miss out on.

“Do not ask for whom the bell tolls………..”

      • patrick H.T. paine

BTW you also need to understand that when you say the word “evidence”
…..this constitutes a claim of “proof”…….of course, even if
you are wrong…..the principles cited in attempting to attain this
‘reward’……the world would be a far better place. For some reason,
this has never happened……even when religious institutions constitute the “political power”……which usually coincides with
        things being far worse.

      • Joe H.

        Patrick HT,
Perhaps your faith is limited. God proves his exhistance to ME every day of my life. in the fact that every persons finger prints are different, trees will get in a tiny crack of concrete and destroy the concrete, in my childrens smile, and in the fact that after all I have been through in my life I’m still alive. YOU may not call that proof, but I do!! so like I said perhaps you need some FAITH!!!

      • patrick H.T. paine

” To conquer, first DIVIDE! ”

Oh, Jeff H I do have faith…….faith that if the your so called fellow christian’s ever get their way, you would be classified as
the “atheist” and “heretic” that you would have been back in the good ole days ……when ROME was the center of the christian world.

And you are at least this time absolutely dead on correct, the examples you cite are neither evidence nor proof…….but then
I don’t believe I have ever accused you of being capable of “intelligent reasoning”……….and the probability
of my doing so anytime soon, is highly unlikely.

Of course, your chances would improve if you didn’t waste your time
responding to ME…….with essentially irrelevant commentary.

“Do not ask for whom the bell tolls……….”

Alex, I KNOW that God exists and I KNOW He has a very specific plan for the earth and it’s inhabitants. The culmination of that Plan will be glorious, but it’s accomplishment will be devastating. Everything that is happening now will further His plan, and knowing that God is in ultimate control is what sustains me and hopefully all believers as we see the His will played out. God does love us all, but He is a just God and will not allow man to replace Him with anything. The governments, religions, and economics of the world have tried to do just that. For that reason, God will make sure the world knows who He is, and that His Son is Lord of all the world. Those who confess that truth, believe on Christ, and repent of their sins will live and reign with Christ for eternity.

How about the idea that you are entitled to a chance at a decent job that will be there for you when you need it as well as when it needs you? How many companies now reward loyalty by anything more than a swift kick in the pants as you are told you are too old, or have been there too long? There was a time when loyalty to the company you worked for was actually rewarded by things such as raises and promotions, and a decent pension when you had your thirty years in. Now, if you work for the same company for thirty months you can count that as a minor miracle. This is true unless you happen to have been hired as upper management by the board of directors with the promise of raises every year and a golden parachute if you get fired or the company sells and downsizes. Once you make it into upper management, your wealth is pretty much guaranteed unless you do something like a Bernie Madhoff and get caught at it.

Think about what you just said: ‘Entitled’ to a decent job. That is so incredibly subjective that no one could define the parameters.

But beyond that, the ‘entitlement’ mentality is what has doomed our nation for 40 yrs. You are entitled to safety from invasion, a fair & speedy trial (yeah right)and the opportunity to pursue happiness, in whatever form that might be for you as long as you do not abscond with the rights of others…that is the sum total of your ‘entitlement’ based on the Constitution.

You are NOT entitled to be ‘happy’… that is a YOU endeavor…and don’t foist that responsibility onto me or your neighbors by taxing the life out of us.

If your comment were clarified to address that SEGMENT of OWS that has such a mindset I would concur – but it is a diverse group – mostly they are people fed up with how BOTH major political parties flat out LIE to us with impunity.

There is a paradigm shift in progress – those that embrace left/right dogmas will find themselves self-marginalized by those that see what those that operate in the delusion that changing from one gang of criminals to another is going to have positive results.

    • http://AOL LIsa

Some of what you say is true. However I know of lots of people that have been with the same company for 15+ years. It all depends on what you do, and how well you do your job. It is expensive for employers to hire and train new employees. I would say that many people leave looking for better opportunities which are often hard to find. The better educated you are the better your chances of being retained by your employers. The unemployment rate among those with college degrees is less 5%.

      • independant thinker

I retired from a company after 30+ years. In that time I saw no one fired because of their age. In fact those who quit because the work was “too hard” for them or they only wanted to work when they wanted to far outnumbered those who were fired for any reason. I do not know how many would be hired show up for one or two days then were never seen or heard from again.

      • Joe H.

        independant,
I’ve worked a few places like that. In fact, one place I worked with my uncle, a guy hired in to clean up a site. He was getting 12.50 an hour in 1980 to do it. he worked till noon, picked up his lunch pail and said” I don’t have to work this hard, I’m going back to my welfare!” Gods honest truth! This is the mindset of some of them!!!

    • Doug

Gee CP been doing my trade now for over 34 years every employee that does their job and inspires to treat our customers right have been with me for 17 years. And guess what CP did not go to College don’t believe in college because except for a few they are teaching Marxist and Communism is a good thing. How about pulling yourself up by the boot straps and work to be the best and see what happens. By the way I started from the bottom and took a long time to be where I am today nothing is handed to you unless you were born into a rich family that does not want to teach their children what they need to make it in this world!

      • Karolyn

Doug – Things are not as they were. This is a totally different world, and it’s not as easy as it was. When I closed my shop in ’04 I hadn’t worked for someone else in 5 years and hadn’t applied for a job in 10. Well, when I went looking for work, it was not as easy as it once was, even with my extensive experience. Everyone requires specialize education anymore or college degrees. Used to be a person was hired on their experience and merit. I was in administration, had 35 years experience and could run any office; however, all of those types of jobs required certificates in office management or business degrees. I used to do pretty well in selling antiques; but that day is over. I’ve also made jewelry, painted, done flower arranging, cleaned houses, gardened, etc. These days the competition is so stiff an older person doesn’t stand a chance, especially when nepotism in a small town is involved. You just don’t know what you’re talking about.

      • Joe H.

        krolyn,
the man is relating what he has DONE and what he has experienced and you tell him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about?? Gee, aren’t YOU omnipotent!!!

      • FedUp

nice broad brush, eddie the idiot. the statement is stay away from our stuff or you’ll get shot when you come plundering. when the gov’t stops paying the mobs, the mobs will look for other sources of food. when they come to our neighborhoods looking to plunder, they will get shot. Not because we go looking for someone to shoot, but because they come to threaten our families and our homes and our survival.

  • jopa

sean murrey;Your statement is rather idiotic, what are you trying to say?

  • http://aol TXinSC

It really all boils down to the fact that Americans think they are entitled to what ever they want. So what if you don’t have a job, you are still entitled to a car, phone, TV or whatever else you want. We can no longer distinguish between needs and wants. If we want it, we need it. I too believe that things will change dramatically in the near future. We are fast approaching the time when those of us working, will no longer be able, via the government, to support those who don’t. It won’t be pretty, and those living in large, urban areas will suffer the most. My advise is to prepare and pay attention.

    • CP

Sir, I want you to think about this, even if you aren’t willing to try it. Walk away from everything you have, firearms included, and try living on the streets for a while. Or, you can move up the ladder a little bit and take a minimum wage job and try supporting yourself, rent, food, transportation, and medical insurance, for a year. My bets are that you won’t last six months at that level of existence, yet there are people who are forced to continue at that level or below by either physical or mental issues, or simply the fact that they are among the “unhireables” we tend to ignore. What you are calling wants many people consider must haves just so they can get to the next job, or hear about a new position that just might be opening up. As far as a television, do you really want to spend your evenings, when you can’t be out pounding the streets looking for more work, staring at the four walls? Most people do want a little down time occasionally, and that IS the cheapest form of escape available to a lot of us.

      • Dntmkmecmoverther

You are speaking of the unemployable. There has always been that bottom 2% who will be unemployable either due to mental or physical dilemmas. Nothing will change that and there are (and have been for 50 yrs) help for these people. Nothing has changed, except the fact that we now have sloth people who fail to understand their responsibility to go and get a job; and NO you don’t get to start at the top of the heap!

One earns their way up the ladder as they increase their value to the organization. If you are ‘dead weight’ then you don’t even deserve minimum wage. ANd don’t start that diatribe about the minimum wage not supporting a family; that is SUCH BS. Minimum wage jobs are for part time folks, retired folks, and others who want to supplement their family/individual incomes; those jobs are NEVER nor have EVER been looked at as careers…although they could be career BUILDERS for people with the right attitude.

We are a nation of sloths; that’s our largest problem.

      • http://DoULoveJesus.Wordpress.com Mark Dabney

Tell that to the ghosts of the massive number of unemployed among the hard working people during the great depression that could not find work- I am among the 12% that do not count in the current unemployment statistics because I have depleted UI – THEY say that I have “given up looking for work” Truth is, I have done everything I can to find steady employment – I take whatever incidental work I can – I split firewood – fix machines, have done some legal secretary work – whatever is honorable, moral and thus not dangerous – immoral or illegal. Do you get my point that actual unemployment is over 22% and we are approaching Great Depression levels – and left/right statism has ZERO remedy for this – stepping out of this paradigm does.

Legitimate charity could do much to help that 2% that the state run counterfeit of charity cannot – legitimate charity is voluntary – and done with moral constraints – Frederick Bastiat in “The Law” was spot on about what he called “Lawful Plunder” and many that I have spoken with at Occupy Atlanta have agreed that state run “charity” perpetuates dependency.

Again, people need to throw out the broad brush when it comes to OWS – it does not fit.

      • Joe H.

        Mark D,
That broad stroke fits a good many of them. What about the number of them that quit jobs to protest?? what about the ones defacating in public, exposing themselves to passersby including children, the one that shat on a police cruiser, the couple that were dealing drugs from a tent in front of a two year old that lived in it with them? What about the “instructors” that are going from camp to camp instructing them on how to make a specticle on TV? how about the ones that encircled the police, arm in arm, and refused to leave, told the police if they wanted to leave they had to go THROUGH them. When the poice peper sprayed them, they cried foul??? What about them?? What about the ones yesterday that attacked the police and then when they were tasered and arrested they cried police brutality??? These are good citizens peacfully protesting??? Man, you need to examine your values!!

      • Jan

They aren’t FORCED to take these jobs. People make CHOICES. People choose not to get good grades, people choose to get pregnant, people choose to do drugs, people choose to hang out with the wrong crowd and get into trouble. When you make crap choices, you will have a crap outcome. If people are in the “trap” that you describe, then they should get these things called “roomates” to take some of the burden of rent and utilities. With that savings, don’t spend it on flat screen tvs or xboxes, choose to grow up and invest money in yourself instead of being the child needing a video fix. Go to trade school, or one of the many schools like Miller-Motte that will provide SKILLS that will land a better paying job…but I guess you’d prefer to make excuses and sit on your butt playing video games.

      • Joe H.

Jan, there are other good schools like Brown Mackey that teach at one class a month to give students their nursing degrees. They have a loan program that you pay back a little at a time till it’s paid off. but I guess those OWS would call that slavery because they have to pay off student loans!!! They don’t WANT to succede!!!

Listen, if you send a camera crew to a gathering of ten thousand people, anyone with half a semester of high school filmmaking can make the ’68 Chicago Demonstrations sound like a John Birch Society meeting or make a National Rifle Ass. meeting sound like a bunch of people who really care about Life.

The popular and pathetically ridiculous meme that the OWS people do not know what they are protesting against is baloney; they are, in fact much more in tune with what they strive for than the funny Teabaggers who bumble around and say idiotic things like, “Get Your Government Hands Off My Medicare!”. <<<<<HAAAAAA!!!! Such a disorganized effort of shiftless vagabonds will only lead to more problems…OCS was a propaganda stunt generated by union special interests and, of course, the dems…

      • Dntmkmecmoverther

Alex that is pure BS. I have stopped by 4 times at the ‘occupier’s ‘ tent cities to speak with them. Not only do the stink; they can’t tell me specifically why they are there or what they intend do accomplish. The hold signs that say tax the rich. When I ask them, ‘Then what?’ I get a dumb stare. The majority of the occupiers are clueless; there may be one or two who lead this herd of imbeciles but that’s about it…

The answer to what happens if you ‘Tax the Rich’ can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=JY8LKII_MNA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

      • Laura

WOW! That was an awesome video. Thank you for that. I will be passing that along to friends and family.

      • eddie47d

The video was actually very good but OWSs aren’t out to steal from the wealthy but to make them more responsible in what they make and how they make it. When the wealthy are honest and play fair they are respected. When they break the rules of decency they corrupt everything they touch which makes all the rich look greedy. There is a spending problem in America also and those who advocate taking in more revenue without paying off past debts are just as clueless and aren’t playing fair either. There is way too much monkey business going on between the takers and the rest of the takers. The takers on Wall Street are just as sinister as those takers in Washington. We all feel if we have more we will be much happier which is a fallacy. That doesn’t make any difference whether rich or poor or a Washington politician.

      • http://AOL TXinSC

The OWS people know something is not right, but I am not sure they know where the problem really lives. There is too much corruption in our government. The banksters would not get away with what they do without the help of our politicians. They break the laws because they are allowed to do so. There is no such thing as “as too big too fail” that is a creation of our government so that big business and finance will be beholding to politicians. It runs along both party lines so please no drivel about how the Republicans are in the pocket of big business. Wall Street is in a very cozy bed with the democrats. As far as the OWS, many of them want the government to bail them out instead of big business, and that is not the answer. If you can’t afford to make the payments on your student loans, don’t take out the loans.

      • Kate8

eddie – Here is common sense coming from a Congressman in YOUR camp.

        http://www.brasschecktv.com/videos/war-crimes/world-fears-us-as-a-war-hungry-drunk.html

Goes to show that it IS possible for a democrat to think clearly. I can’t find anything here that I disagree with. We’d do well with a lot more like him.

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
What about the people that quit jobs to go to the OWS rally?? Part of what they are supposed to be protesting is a lack of jobs, I guess they are just like you HYPOCRITES!!!

      • eddie47d

Oh Please Joe stop showing your ignorance. LOL!

      • Joe H.

No eddie, you got that wrong. Everybody here is showing YOUR ignorance!!! And it’s EEEEASSSSSY!!!

      • Mike

NRA users DO care about lives. I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms. Look at the legislation being voted on today or tomorrow about declaring America a battleground, and giving the military the right to detain American citizens for as long as they want. The elimination of posse commitatus. Introduced in part by John McCain. When they come for the NRA members, it will not be pretty. The NRA stands for everything this country was founded on, and they are willing to fight to protect even those who hate them from the tyranny of an oppressive government. The American “government” is actually deciding to declare war on American citizens. Martial law= Civil War II; possibly coming to a country near you very soon.

      • Theotherhalf

Martial law is not a new idea. And was predicted by Naomi Wolf during the GWB presidency. You can read her book or watch a few you tube vids. Martial law will be declared by the ruling richinto a political party. If there were enough teabaggers out there protesting then they might end up in FEMA trailers too. Which is why I think they aren’t out there. Gun toters would surely be arrested. my guess is most tp’s are cops right now, and we know it’s the cops who incite violence. TRUE. Most of your “fleabagger” are trained in non violence. . Much of the original occupy Dallas was moved to city hall close to the homeless shelters. The truly homeless have been that way for awhile and have sort of made things difficult for those who want to occupy because the occupies took the homeless dudes corner or beggar spot. My guess is the people interviewed by the media are not the ones with the answers but are purposely interviewed by the right wing media to make them look stupid. This is why occupy uses their own media outlets not mainstream. Streaming video globalrevolution. Or just check with anon communication for updates. Look at the real news.

        Mike,
Just sent my 2012 dues in tonight!

Let’s see ALEX… my guess would be that you’re a democrat. Democrats are vicious and immoral. Don’t like anything that’s good or beneficial, and fighting dirty against it.

      • Joe H.

Well, eddie, there will be one less of YOUR elitists next year for SURE!! Your good buddy Bawney Fwanks will be GONE!!!! See, eddie things prayed for DO get granted!!!

      • Ol fuddie duddie

Alex, Obviously, you were not around during the 60′s when thousands of clueless idiots did their rioting thing, led by just a few puppeteers. They too had no real idea what they wanted, but they had a lot of fun breaking the laws of the land, breaking windows, disrupting working people and having their sit-ins and sit-downs. Then and now, the “me” generation made a lot of gibberish noise and soon passed out again under the fumes of their pot and other drugs. Things have not changed except for a different puppet-master. They will soon fall asleep again and we will pick up after these naughty children as always.

      • Joe H.

        Ol F D,
I was around during that and a lot of good people got killed by those hippy freak leaders!!!

Oooowhhhhiieee, Alex I get a tingley feeling down my leg when I read your postings. Hee, hee, hee.

  • Jon

A very inflammatory article. But that’s what sells I guess…

Anyhow. I can agree with the gist of the article, Americans are spoiled by a high standard of living, the poor think they are poorer than they are… thanks in no part to 30 years of programming such as lifestyles of the rich and famous, and MTV cribs, like Tyler Duden says, everyone thinks they will grow up to be rock stars in America.

    Two things though.

    1. Say what you will about ows, perhaps some of them are bitter and materialistic, but initially their movement was a protest against the government to quit bailing out banks and big businesses. What it has morphed into, I do not know.

    2. Can Americans really survive on the equivalent of what a Chinese worker or Indian worker make? A 4 pack of macaroni and cheese is $7, a freaking top ramen noodle is up to $1.25, entirely unrealistic. In those countries they can afford to support a family in the country on $150 a month…that would still require government assistance here.

Still I understand the I tentional inflmatpry nature of the article. Nice piece.

    • alexa

@Jon, What would the mac/cheese cost if one actually used ingredients that aren’t packaged in packages?
There once was a time people actually bought potatoes, raw veggies, meat, etc. and actually made a meal, versus microwave the dish in the plastic bag it came in.

      • Alex Frazier

I have a family of six. It costs more to buy the raw ingredients. In fact, when we have asparagus or brocoli cheese soup, we’re splurging if we buy the fresh vegetables vs. canned or frozen.

      • Mike

Agreed. Raw ingredients cost much, much more than the pre-packaged stuff. And the cheap stuff is unhealthy for you. Americans can not live on $5.00 a day. We will not have any jobs created here until our standard of living equals the rest of the world’s. When all workers in the world make the same, then we will be happy. Until then, we are screwed. I personally believe we are headed for another major world war. It is a way for the powers-that-be to maintain a little crowd control and jump-start some lagging economies. Call me crazy, but I predict that within a year we will be in a MAJOR conflict in the Middle-East.

      • larry

Mike! you may be a communist and not know it. If everyone made the same money, what would the money be worth. Not much I am afraid. The problem with American people is that they are unequivically lazy.

      • Brian

        Mike – I agree…War is coming….

      • DaveH

Good Grief, Mike. Please read “How Capitalism Saved America” and get it right.

So when all those lazy bums standing around watching while one lowly worker actually does work get the same pay as the worker you think you will be happy? You must be one of the lazy bums.

(Can you tell I have had way to much experience with union work forces :( )

That is not an American people problem, That is a PEOPLE problem. Otherwise Greece and Spain (amongst others) would not be in such an economic disarray.

      • Joyce from Loris

You are right Alex, but we can’t choose eating badly just because of money. I live on a 200 acre farm, and we grow our own food. We can and freeze our summer crops and hunt and fish. I know most folks don’t live on a farm, but you would be amazed at how much food you can grow on a small plot of dirt, like your back yard! You have a large family, so all of you could pitch in and help, and it would be fun! I recommend you read Squanto’s Garden, it is full of info on growing food in small spaces. Growing your own food also guarantees that you know the chemicals that your food has been exposed to! We do 90% organic, sometimes the bugs that over run and you have to bring out the sevin dust. Good luck and you will have fun at this.

      • Caroline

Joyce, I totally agree with you. I don’t have a farm but I have a small backyard garden and grow what I can during the short season I have using organic methods. Then I can or freeze the extras. I also buy my fresh food on sale and stock up when I can. Then I can or freeze these. If you buy good quality food on sale and stock up, you can save lots of money, cook and can/freeze your own meals and not buy crap prepared foods. I also refuse to shop at Walmart. People complain about cheap labor in other countries and cheap products but what do they do? They go out to the cheap box stores and support everything they complain about! If no one bought these foreign-made products from foreign-based companies, then maybe the companies would open up more US-producing factories! Buy American and support your local economy!

      • DaveH

Buy American if you want to pay more for less. The foreign countries aren’t ruining our economy. That blame lies squarely on the shoulders of our Government which is sucking up 40% of our GDP.
I was just talking a few days ago with a Malaysian gal who was describing what a robust economy Singapore has. And Singapore spends less than half on their Government that we spend on ours.

      • DaveH

It’s time for all good people to understand the concept of Free Markets and why they work for the majority of citizens (all but the Leaders and their Crony Capitalists). Without that understanding we are surely doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past:
        http://mises.org/daily/12/Smashing-Protectionist-Theory-Again

      • Karolyn

Dave – That’s not necessarily true about paying more and getting less by buying American. In the comparisons they’ve done on ABC News, they have found instances where the American item is cheaper (or comparable) and of the same or better quality, especially furniture.

      • http://deleted Claire

DaveH– Missed you, glad to see you are here. I know exactly what you mean about paying more for American-made products. I have encountered this many times. However I will still try to do what I can. American products are more expensive because the U.S. is flooded with foreign stuff. Department stores like Macys, Bergners, etc. are more expensive, but when a person looks at the label it says: Made in China, Thailand, etc. The government did a number on America.

      • Caroline

Dave, if more people bought American and there was lesser demand for foreign-made cheap goods, then the price of American goods would go down and the price of foreign goods would go up — price/demand!

      • CountryGirl83

The fresh vegetables may cost more initially, but in the long run, you will pay for cheapness with high medical costs. Plant a garden and buy only in season vegetables. Also, forget about the “whole grain” baloney.
If you eat like a feedlot steer you are going to fatten up just like one, too.

      • ValDM

        CG83,
Amen, sister! Most healthy eating guides say no more than two servings of grain a day. I tried eating like the food pyramid suggested, and only gained weight. Cutting back to two servings of grain a day helps keep the lard off!

      • Joe H.

        countrygirl83,
If you give up completely on the “whole grain” food, you better find a good source of fiber. That is, unless you LIKE intestinal problems like diverticula, or cancer. your body needs a certain amount of natural fiber to be healthy.

      • Caroline

Joe, you can get plenty of fiber from fruits, vegetables, legumes, etc.

      • Joe H.

        Caroline,
Those, unless I am mistaken, ARE whole grain foods!!!

      • Caroline

Yes, Joe, you are COMPLETELY mistaken. “Whole grain” = wheat, rye, oats, etc. Things you make bread, cereal, and other high-carb foods out of! Whole grain does NOT include fruits, vegetables and nuts! “Grains” are the seeds from grass-like plants. But obviously if you buy your food out of highly-processed boxes at Walmart you don’t know where it comes from.

      • Opal the Gem

Alex, It depends at least partly on when and where you purchase the vegatables. If you shop smart at local farmers markets and localy owned produce stands you can generaly get things at a much lower price than the chain groceries. The other thing is to load up on bargins when things are in season and on sale then can or freeze the excess.

      • TheRealBob

What would they cost if the farmer wasn’t paying taxes to a bloated and inefficient government that exists to support the parasites that demand something for nothing? What would they cost if the union slugs at the processing plant were making what they were worth rather than what they could extort through threats? What would they cost if the employees at the grocery store weren’t SEIU thugs making three times what they are worth? What would they cost if everyone could get by on a lot less money because we weren’t carrying the burden of welfare parasites, union slugs, government deadbeats, and the rest of the non-producers? The fact is, we could get by on a lot less than what we do now and we would be a lot better off.

      • Robert Smith

What would it cost if government wasn’t paying farming corporations as bug businesses…

The local family farm is a rellic of years gone by.

        Rob

      • Caroline

Government subsidizes big business farms so they can produce what the government wants them to produce — corn, etc. for bio-diesel. If these products were not subsidized, the farmers would grow more FOOD! And if large farms were not subsidized, then the small farmer would be able to compete with the large business farms (food factories)! More family farms would be able to produce locally-grown food which would not need excessive chemicals for large-production and wouldn’t need to be shipped hundreds of miles or more so that we would not need all that extra bio-diesel. It would be a win-win situation for both the economy and the ecology of the planet! Now I am by no means a tree-hugger. But I would prefer my food to have no GMOs, chemical pesticides, chemical herbacides, etc. Smaller-scale, locally-grown food is healthier for all.

      • Joe H.

        Robert Smith,
suprise! I agree with you. this is also why you have a dam hard time finding poultry that isn’t full of antibiotics, Beef that isn’t full of hormones, all kinds of UNHEALTHY added substances!!! Cancer made a big up swing in the last days of the 19th century when they started to bleach the flour. Things have gotten worse since!!

      • eddie47d

Most union workers are hard working and honorable. You are pathetic Real Bob.

      • Brian

And you are an ignorant socialist/communist…Eddy47d, the fact of the matter is ANY time government is involved, whether thru a ‘union’ or government itself, costs rise, making things much more expensive. IF the US was not supporting those that are on the government dole or even in ‘unions’, prices would be much lower…Er, that’s assuming the federal government doesn’t just print the money we need…

      • Ol fuddie duddie

Eddie47d, Most union workers are paid for from my taxes. That makes me one of their employers. I do not see what you see. I am for doing away with all government unions and some of the departments that are wasting my tax money. It would be fun to see how long some of these so-called “hard workers” survive if they had to compete in the work place like “normal” tax payers.

      • Lost in Paradise

I have worked with union workers, and have yet to find one that is worth a damn. Get rid of Unions and big government, and this country will prosper again. ALso elect Ron Paul, so we can return to our constitution, and remain free of most wars.

      • Doug

Hey little eddie figure out what the blanks mean __ __ __ __ OFF Eddie. I have work with government unions my whole life and you want to talk about useless people! Eddie do us all a favor and stay on the Huntington Post! Gang mentality I like to take them out of the gang and beat the crap out of them they are little chickens with their heads cut off when they are not in gang that out numbers others.

      • FedUp

Yes, I’m sure most union rank and file members are hard working, but most union members are FORCED to be in the union and robbed by the union bosses of their “dues” every paycheck. it’s the union bosses and the enforcers that are the problem. must union members get no benefit from their dues, which eventually end up paying the bosses and enforcers and as political contributions to the democrat party, to buy those politicians and force them to pass more union favoring laws to perpetuate the cycle.

But I’m glad to support your right to call people names and espouse the party line of the left. Please try to present facts and logic instead of reactionary rhetoric.

      • eddie47d

Your deceit doesn’t scare me and I will stand by what I said.

      • patriot67

Spoken like a true union thug.

      • Average Joe

        eddie47d,
I realize that this is a silly question, but I still feel the need to ask it; DO YOU HAVE ANY FACTUAL PROOF TO SUPPORT ANY OF YOUR ASSUMPTIONS?
Eddie, as pointed out earlier (by another poster), you rarely…if ever….put up anything to support your diatribe. You simply give us your opinion (that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbuck’s). While it is admirable that you have an opinion, so do the rest of us, however…opinions aren’t worth squat if you can’t back them up with actual facts. Try it sometime eddie…you might actually start being listened to (rather than being talked down to).
Want respect? Want to be believed? Try giving us something besides your uninformed opinion.
        Have a nice day eddie…..

False opinions are like false money, struck first of all by guilty men and thereafter circulated by honest people who perpetuate the crime without knowing what they are doing.
        Joseph De Maistre

      • eddie47d

I worked in a union shop for 40 years Patriot67 and was never a union thug and we negotiated in good faith. So as I said you can be as hateful as you’d like but that doesn’t make it true. Now tell us about what kind of work you did or job position and I’m sure we can all find fault with just about anything. That’s the easy part in all your assuming.

      • JeffH

Average Joe, try as you may, eddie does actually believe opinions are facts…go figure.

        Example:
        eddie47d says
        August 21, 2011 at 11:30 am
An opinion can be a fact or just an opinion on a subject. What should we call your “opinions” Song? Maybe you are too “opinionated” to answer that.

      • eddie47d

Now Average Joe that is also the easy part. I state facts each and everyday. If you dispute something I say then feel free to tell me so. I don’t lie but if I do put a wrong fact or figure in any comment I don’t mind being corrected. If I dispute someone else the Internet is full of information to correct them. I do my homework so why can’t you. I see downloaded information that is bizarre and dishonest so that is not always reliable. Some of the videos are nothing more than biased and petty swill and only used to mock someone. Some of those videos bring up false and dangerous information yet seldom does anyone challenge them. So why lower myself to their level.

      • eddie47d

Poor sad man Jeff. Yes opinions can be facts and some people’s “facts” can be nothing more than an opinion. All we get from you Jeff is more trivial trash from the trash master. You prove little yet you always think you do.

      • Brad

        Hey Eddie,

It just dawned on me all union bosses and their enforcers are just like the klan, they want everyone enslved and have control of all the power for themselves and the choosen elite few.

      • Average Joe

        Your original statement:
“Most union workers are hard working and honorable.”

        Your next statement:

“I worked in a union shop for 40 years Patriot67 and was never a union thug and we negotiated in good faith.”

So, you are trying to make the first statement true…by giving us your personal take and personal (singular) involvement with one single union hall…to make your first statement true? It doesn’t..

While there are many hard working men and women in Unions…there are also many more who are worthless as human beings and only keep their jobs through Union Thuggery and intimidation. Your first post may or may not be correct, your second post was a lame attempt to make your first statement believeable…..which it didn’t accomplish.

Once again eddie, have a nice day.

The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

      • Average Joe

“Now Average Joe that is also the easy part. I state facts each and everyday.”

While it may be true that you state facts,, it would be much better if you could cite souces, add links to your posts etc…to back up what you claim to be the truth. Without citing your sources, you are simply giving us your opinion…which I’ve already addressed previously. Opinions are fine and dandy…but not neccesarily facts or truth….just opinions.Want us to believe you?..post your evidence….along with your opinions….and don’t be suprised or upset if someone challenges your sources or provides other links to decry your sources….truth is after all…subjective to the individual.

And yet again, Have a nice day eddie….

Well maybe you do and maybe you don’t. Absent cites to back up your assertions your “facts” are worth pretty much the paper they are(n’t) printed on.

“If you dispute something I say then feel free to tell me so.”

We have. Often. with evidence :)

      • Kate8

eddie – I would go a step further and ask just who it is that gets to determine what are “facts”. Does it get to be a fact because you can quote a media source? But media sources are only opinions and are subject to the source’s interpretation.

If we weren’t there personally, we have to rely on the accuracy of someone else’s reporting. Most likely, that person got his “facts” from yet another source. And, since almost no one tells the truth anymore, very little we hear or read can be classified as “facts”, since facts are undisputed truth by definition. Unless we use another tactic of the Left, and simply redefine the word.

My point is that your word cannot be held as fact anymore than mine or the next guy’s. We talk about what we deduce from our limited material as filtered through our perception of how things are, which most likely has little factual content.

      • Joe H.

        Kate8,
That depends on what is is!!!!

      • eddie47d

It certainly isn’t anything that would come out of Joe’s mouth. Heaven forbid! We’re looking for rational Joe and you failed the test.

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
YOU, LOOKING FOR RATIONAL?!?!?!? WITH YOUR PROG RECORD???!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!GOOD ONE eddie!!!

Real Bob: you are dead spot-on. Congrats.

To me what’s really distressing is the fact that (IMHO) not one person in a hundred, and I’d venture to say not one person in 20 on this website, understands the situation or is even vaguely aware of these facts. So if you, like The Real Bob, are on top of your game when it comes to knowing all about unions, I congratulate you. However, if your insight is a bit lacking in this area then do yourself a favor and follow the links provided below.

Do you actually grocery shop? Banquet frozen dinners comprise a large portion of the frozen food section at WalMart because they can be had for under $1 each! Of course, I wouldn’t touch the suff; it’s nothing but chemicals. At any rate, it is generallly much cheaper to eat prepackaged unless you’re into the really good stuff.

It may have escaped your notice but ALL food is nothing but chemicals.

      • Kate8

vicki – Can’t argue with that one.

      • Karolyn

Give nme a break, Vicki! You KNOW what I mean! – Preservatives, dyes, artificial flavors, etc.

      • Joe H.

        karolyn,
fresh foods in the grocery, pesticides, chemical fertilizers genetically altered. What’s the diff???

      • Vicki

        Karolyn says:
“Give nme a break, Vicki! You KNOW what I mean! – Preservatives, dyes, artificial flavors, etc.”

Say what you mean and mean what you say. It is obvious that frozen foods are food cause so many people survive on them. If you don’t like some preservatives, dyes, flavors in your food feel free to say so.

Stating the obvious that food is nothing but chemicals when you mean that food has some chemicals in it you don’t want does not help your point.

      • Jon

Hi thx for the reply. My wife and I tried to do the farmers market thing, we tried to do a self sustaining garden, even going as far as cloning tomato plants, haha, but after the organic fert teas, the soil mixes, etc – it is simpler cheaper to buy at Safeway. I used the example of Mac and Cheese and top ramen because I figure if Americans were being paid the equivalent of a Chinese laborer that is all they can afford, the prices I listed were at the local 7-11 btw. Super pricey. Cheers!

    • libertytrain

I didn’t see it as inflammatory, but rather brutally honest. Mac and Cheese is still $1.25 or less per box here and Ramen noodles frequently 5 for $1.00. I don’t buy either but read ads… We can’t be like India or China because people no longer know how to be self-sufficient and can’t even cook their own meals. Need to buy prepackaged mac and cheese or ramen noodles….

      • vicki

Mac double is still only $1
It has grain and meat and letice and sometimes even a tomato

IF the economy collapses it will likely go away but till then a meal can be had for very little (fiat) paper.

      • libertytrain

        Vicki – yep.

      • Joe H.

        libertytrain,
Here, in BJs ramen noodles by the case (24 I believe) are 5.65. Mac n cheese at aldis is 37 cents a box. Milk 2.45 a gallon. Gas??? $3.29 a gallon for the cheap stuff!!!

      • libertytrain

well Joe, either wherever the other person lives things are much higher or he/she doesn’t know how to shop or where to shop…. :) I think it’s the Kraft brand that’s higher – store brands here are sometimes 3 for a dollar.

    • wandamurline

The Ows were not protesting the government who granted the bailouts, they were protesting the banks and Wall Street because they received the bailouts. They are in the wrong places protesting…they should be protesting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue…many of these protestors are being “PAID” to be out on the streets protesting to the tune of $500 a week from ACORN (under its new name), and their community consists of not only ACORN, but college students who want what you have without having to work for it, the nazi party, the communist party, Bill Ayers is out giving instructions, Frances Pivens is helping, George Soros is funding, and foreign countries are in it also, i.e. Iran and Chavez. What a bunch of loving Americans….what a bunch of commies that are out to collasp the economy of America. These people are being used by the very people they should be protesting against. Sure, there are some in the crowds that have a anger problem….most of Americans are angry about the corruption in Washington…however, we are not out setting fires, crapping on automobiles, trashing the cities, painting on buildings, committing rapes, etc. This is an uncivilized bunch of people who are being herded for the financial rise of those behind the protests…they are sheeples.

      • eddie47d

We’ll need a couple of dumpsters to pick up the load of crap Wanda keeps spreading around. What a sinister evil mind you have.

      • http://AOL TXinSC

Pivens was at the NYC location. I saw her on TV, so don’t be naive and think she has no involvement. Ayers has been contributing his share to the movement also. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

      • Lost in Paradise

Eddie, I would not be so sure that Wanda is passing boat loads of B.S.. I think she is mostly correct. Look around you, pay attention, and stop being naive about it.

      • Doug

No Eddie we need to put all the poop they make in your mouth so you will be silenced so we don’t have to read your BS!

      • Karolyn

Doug – That was a pretty dumb remark. First of all, I don’t think eddie writes with his mouth; and secondly, you don’t have to read what he writes!

      • Brad

        Karolyn,

No Eddie47d just makes as azz out of himself on a daily basis, all opinions and no facts to back up his opinions. You sit here and back eddie for no apperant reason just because he is getting his azz handed to him every single day. Why don’t you research some of these so called facts from eddie before jumping the gun and supporting his rants. You just might find out eddie is just passing gas because what comes out of his mouth and onto this blog sure does stink!!!

      • patriot67

And all you do eddie47d is bad mouth people, you lame leptard.

      • eddie47d

Doug and Lost dish it out in spades and all they come up with is comments about poop. They must be thinking they are playing Trivial Pursuit with their trivial comments. Actually Wanda is dishing out a double helping of CaCa bull and you all follow like flies for the free meal.

      • Suzette

Agreed….they are easily led..and are only addressing 1 piece of the puzzle…and in all the wrong ways.

      • Kate8

Wandamurline – Excellent comment, and right on.

eddie and Suzette simply show their gullibility to fake movements like OWS. They are so plugged into he MSM that they can’t think outside the narrow box…they’ll believe whatever the puppet and the puppet media put out there.

It’s really pretty easy to tell what’s going on. If a movement is contrived by the PTB, they’ll get lots of media attention. Otherwise, they’ll be largely ignored and ridiculed. The instigators of OWS are plants, put there to inflame every nutjob with a cause and incite escalating violence…in other words, create chaos.

It’s intended to provoke police brutality, to help get us used to living in a police state. The PTB always have “incidents” break out exactly when they want to further their plans, so they can rush in with more oppression and control. Our young people have been carefully engineered by education, media and drugs to bring them to dance to the piper’s tune at just the right time.

And, of course, Congress is voting on a bill this week that declares the US a “battlefield”, and turns the military (largely foreign) loose on American citizens on our own soil.

        http://dprogram.net/2011/11/28/the-us-senate-is-about-to-declare-war-on-freedom-and-the-american-people/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wordpress%2FBcwy+%28Deprogram%29&utm_content=Yahoo%21+Mail

      • JeffH

Kate8, :) But the OWS’rs sound just like them…identify the common cause then align :)

      • Karolyn

Kate – First of all, here really has not been that much coverage of OWS lately other than cursory obsevations; and, second, could it not be right-wingers planted to create problems? – which, by the way, there have not been many lately. This is an evolving scenario and is not the same as when it first started.

      • Kate8

Karolyn – You obviously haven’t been paying attention to what’s happening out west here, like in Oakland. And how about the fact that they stormed the malls on Black Friday, just to make shopping even more miserable for people. I mean, why target the retailers?

Left/Right. No. Those behind OWS are the elite. They own both Left and Right.

      • eddie47d

I remember a few years back when Conservatives complained about folks not taking Sunday’s seriously. That stores were open too late and not enough time was spent with the family. I believe Sundays and maybe Saturdays for some should be a day of rest and that we have become way too commercial. Now it’s Conservatives coming to the defense of businesses open 24/7. We our a nation of Romney’s flip flopping on everything and being self righteous about it. What a hoot!

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
you left out an intricate part of that story. they were complaining about saturdays and sundays being MANDTORY! There were employers that were firing employees for not working sundays. there is nothing wrong with working saturdays and sundays IF the person agrees to it! Besides, most retail establishments are working so many employees that they don’t even get 40 hours in let alone overtime! I have worked about five different jobs where I worked six and seven days a week, but I agreed to do so! BTW don’t give your heroes the union too much credit on that as the GVERNMENT passed a law that says they can’t be forced to work seven days a week, meaning 56 hrs a week!!

      • eddie47d

Give it up Joe! You don’t have a clue.

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
I’ve got a clue about YOU! you PUT YOUR TIME IN IN A UNION SHOP FOR 40 YEARS. WORKED? I DOUBT YOU KNOW THE MEANING OF THE WORD!!!

    • Ken Furr

There are two major things that drove prices for our everyday commodities higher! First, unions with their demand for higher and higher wages and health care. The second is over regulation of the Federal Government of every single product and service. Companies have to raise prices to cover the expenses of these demands. However there is a third culprit I hesitate to mention for it will surely bring a world of name calling on me, but it is the GREED of individuals who cause the first two reasons to be possible! I now live in a poor foriegn country and a majority of people here are poor, I mean they are “really poor” and it shocks me to here what they say. I here from them constantly that it is OK to steal the property of the wealthy for they have more than they need. That is the same thing I see going on in America. The greed of the American people is destroying our country. We no longer as a nation want to help those in need because it would mean ‘I have less!’ Greed seems to rule in the world now and greed can help you convince yourself that anything you do is alright.

    • Marty S.

Jon, the American public is basically spoiled rotten from multiple decades of enjoying the position of the U.S. dollar as the reserve currency of the world. Our dollars used to get a lot more bang for the buck-that is changing as the price of precious metals, food, gasoline etc increasing has reflected in recent months and years. This spoiled populace still wants its deals no matter what and will throng the stores at 3 AM to achieve said goal. However, I must admit I did some black friday shopping if anything just to keep my wife out of the Walmart flash mobs and to buy ammo and other necessities from the sporting goods store for a song.

  • s c

Occasionally, a certain type of eMail makes the rounds. It shows the strange universe of WalMart shoppers. Some of them look like men whose only purpose in life is to show their vertical, aft smile showing above the top of their jeans. Some women look as though they were poured into a pair of quivering, expanding spandex leotards. And then you get to the incredible color combinations and wigs and multiple clothing styles. Interesting stuff, but there’s never a paid commentator.
Some may be human, and some are obviously from another planet. Looks can be deceiving, but it sure breaks up the monotony. So far, no Owsers have shown up. It seems Owsers don’t know smaller towns exist. I guess bigger towns make better soap box or soap opera moments.
And, so far, no union thugs have shown up to load carts with frozen food and then abandon them. What that is supposed to show, other than proof that some people do escape from asylums.
However, if union types do make the local scene to load and abandon carts, I’ll be there with camera, to get license plates and physical descriptions. No worthless, Soros-paid, sycophant SOB screws up my shopping adventure at WallyWorld and gets away with it.

    • wandamurline

Oh they know smaller towns exist, but they also know that smaller towns won’t put up with their crap. It would not be a smart idea to try to camp out in our little town because the residents would probably physically escort them out with a warning not to return. The sourthern states doe not put up with as much of this idiotic behavior as places like New York City and California…but these states are lost to the unions and dead beats and illegals already…that is why they are about bankrupt.

      • w h richardson

yeah buddy you folks did so well with human rights during the slave days, be real proud of that

      • FedUp

W H Richardson, Get a life and get over the past. History is something to be studied so you do not repeat it in the future; it is not something to be lived in perpetuity. Slavery in this country ended long ago because it was wrong. There is not a single person alive in the south who was a slave or owned a slave. Pull your head out of your back side, wipe the excrement out of your eyes, and look around. There are lots of people in the country, the south included, who think people should work for what they get and get what they work for. Most of us are sick and tire of providing more and more hand outs to people who prefer to stay home and collect a check than go out and work. It seems our country has devolved into two types of people: those of us who work for a living, and those who vote for a living (and demonstrate and cause trouble between votes). It’s time to end the gravy train and reign in the government. They need to read and abide by the document they swore to uphold and defend: the Constitution!

      • Capitalist at Birth

        Amen to that!!!!!

      • DaveH

Have you noticed how those, who are actually currently enslaving others by voting to take a lion’s share of their money, are brazen enough to blame us for actions taken by those in the past who may or may not have been even distantly related to us?
Maybe it’s time to post this link again:

Obviously this Richardson character was alive and well and protesting back in that day…..or not as the case more than likely would have been in that time period.

      • Joe H.

        DaveH,
Welcome Back friend! they were asking about you the other day. hope all is well and no health problems!

      • Phil D

Yes indeed!! But do you suppose, somewhere along the way we might be able to hold “them” accountable for their actions, like the passage of S.B. 1867 (Senate Bill to OK Indefinite Detention of U.S. Citizens Without Charge, Trial).

        Check it out:

The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population….”

      • Capitalist at Birth

I certainly hope that everybody reads this historical reminder of where Republicans have stood and still stand. Thank You.

      • eddie47d

Yes the Democrats were arrogant and downright evil SOB’s in the past on racial issues. Why has the rolls been reversed and done so rapidly. I’m more concerned about what is going on now not 60 years ago. The Republicans have become the old Democrats.

      • Karolyn

        eddie – My thoughts exactly.

      • DaveH

Some reality on the slavery issue:
        http://mises.org/misesreview_detail.aspx?control=312

      • Bellagram

Those old Democrats were known as Dixiecrats, and after the civil rights acts went through, they left the Democratic Party and joined the Republican Party. If you want to cover history, cover all of it.

      • TomP

Or like how the Democrats have enslaved millions by making them dependent on the gov’t for thier daily bread.

      • Kate8

eddie – That is such pure liberal propaganda.

Setting aside for a moment the treasonous crop of weasels who’ve occupied the Congressional halls for some time now, Republicans are not now, nor have ever, stood for racism. That is nonsense put out by the Left to keep minorities enslaved to them. Lies. All lies.

The only reason minorities stick with the dems is because they are the ones offering the handouts. Handouts come with a price…ownership. Handouts only breed laziness and a sense of entitlement, not to mention anger, because it can never be enough. That is the whole idea.

The Right believes in showing and encouraging people to do for themselves, so they do not have to be dependent on others. This is the ONLY way to be free and have self-respect. The Democrats are not so filled with compassion…entitlements are a path to power. Period.

There is nothing admirable about forcing people to give money to the less productive. These people are not entitled to help…it should be an act of charity, not a way of life. Confiscation only leads to resentment and more class division, and the rich will always find ways around it. Just look at how the most wealthy (including Obama) give next to nothing in charitable donations, and pay little in taxes.

No, eddie. The Left has not done the poor any favors. They’ve succeeded in maintaining a permanent underclass, whom they only ever intended to use to help facilitate the economic and social collapse.

        Congratulations. You’ve succeeded.

      • libertytrain

DaveH – you were being looked for on this site yesterday I think it was. Apparently people missed you. I would think that’s a compliment :) I think it might have been Old Henry and a few others.

      • eddie47d

Stop patting yourself on the back Kate 8 we all know how great you are. Enough already! I could just as easily point out the faults of the Republican Party on the racial issue. I admit the Democrats are not without fault but you are too full of it to admit anything the Republicans are guilty of. Apparently that condrum is alive and well.

      • vicki

        Eddie47d writes:
“I could just as easily point out the faults of the Republican Party on the racial issue. ”

Bring it on. We are waiting. I notice that higher up you and Karolyn commented on how the Republican party has become the old democrat party. However unlike Doug, who gave a detailed history lesson of democrat abuses, you didn’t bother to even offer an un-cited example of your bald assertion.

      • Kate8

eddie – One more thing. If you think the Repubs have become the old Dems (which is not so far off in many respects), just what has the democrat party become today?

I’ll tell you what. They’ve become the socialist/communist party. They’ve become the party of inverted morality, embracing every form of deviance and depravity. They’ve become the party of increasing conrol and regulation of EVERYTHING we do and even think. They control our dismal education system, which is destroying our kids.

I could go on, but it’s all been said many times.

I’ll admit that the leaders of the Right aren’t much better. They are all corrupt. The democrats just flaunt corruption, in the name of their “new morality”, which is really just immorality.

      • Speak2Truth

I am always amused when the Left say “I could point out the faults of the Republicans…” but don’t.

Kate8 is at the top of my Heroes list along with Doug.

What astonishes me is the willingness of the “useful idiots” to believe the BS being foisted on them by the Left. They need only be fed a simple slogan like “Republicans and Democrats switched places on the race issue” to accept it, believe it and keep repeating it, without thought, without comprehension. No wonder Lenin laughed at them.

        So did this guy:

Yuri Bezmenov – KGB explains psychological warfare inside US, demoralization
        http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x32cxf_yuri-bezmenov

Every American, especially you folks falling for the Leftist manipulations, need to watch that video and understand what the former KGB agent is laughing about.

      • eddie47d

Hold on there Speak. I have brought up the faults of the Republican Party too many times to count and didn’t think it was a necessity to keep bring up it up. I have also brought up things I disagree with on the Democrat Party especially welfare dependency. We get off the subject so much that it all seemed useless to keep harping on. Why would Kate be your hero when she lied about Republican involvement? Now I do defend the Democrats and Kate defends the Republicans but that doesn’t make either parties saints.

      • Kate8

eddie – Wow. You really need to get a grip. I lied about Repubicans? Where? Defended them? Where? I said I think they are ALL corrupt. You seem to lack something in comprehension, or else you just don’t read closely.

Obviously, I push some of your buttons. Heh heh.

You and you Lefty pals really should watch Speak2Truth’s video link. You just might learn something important. The clowns you like to support will turn on you in due time.

      • John Lilleburns ghost

Politically I am neither left or right. I do hope I judge things on their merits and by what I see or hear

What is I find that the majority of people who:

1- Call black people n****rs etc.
        2- Call Mexican’s s***s etc.
3- Refer to Gay people as f******s etc.
4- Are generally mean spirited haters who resent anyone getting something they are not.

Identify themselves as Right Wing/Republicans. Are all Republicans like this; No of course not. Do any Democrats act in this repugnant fashion; Yes. .

I couldnt give a s88t about history, events are always relative to the time they occured in. However my experience is that currently the vast majority of racist biggots are to the Right politically and thats the main reason most minorities of any persuation vote with the democrats. Its nothing to do without hand-outs its about knowing who your enemy is. Rightly you are judged by the company you keep

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
Yes, you have brought up the faults of the republican party ad nauseum!!! the only difference is Kate8 uses sources to PROVE her complaints on the DEMS!!!! In contrast, you very seldom, if ever, use sources other than huff-po to prove ANYTHING!!!

      • eddie47d

I Have never read the Huff Post you ignorant MORON Joe. That also make you a fabrication liar and a typical right winger. What did I tell you about not presenting evidence only more ignorant comments?? You are such a boneheaded loser!!

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
you are right and I appologiyou NEVER show proof!! Sorry!!!

      • Joe H.

darn computer, that should read “I appologize. You NEVER post proof!!!

If Obama wanted to do something truely constructive, he should enact minimum standards for the wearing of spandex. That’s an executive order I could support

    • eddie47d

You’re not even comical SC although you keep trying. So many petty connections that never really connect. Try telling the truth someday and stop being so thuggish and acting like you are coming off of a binge!

      • JeffH

eddie…as if you even knew the difference between the truth, a lie or fiction…Your lies are well known and well documented…HYPOCRIT!

      • Opal the Gem

eddie is just mad he didn’t get in the first comment.

      • eddie47d

Jeff’s distortions of the truth are very well known and apparently is hitching a ride on SC’s false claims.

      • JeffH

But eddie…what false claims? While you’re very good at making accusations, you’re a complete failure at supportig said accusations with anything other than rhetoric. Two plus years and you continue down the same unsupported path.

      • DaveH

Seek Help, Eddie, if for no other reason than the well-being of your grandchildren.

      • Joe H.

        eddie,
I think 95% of the people here on this site would back up JeffH on his claim of your distortions, exaggerations, stretching the truth, and down right LIES, if asked!!! Give it up sonny, you’re on very thin ice!!

      • eddie47d

I’m still standing and you sank a long time ago Joe with your cheap remarks.

      • patriot67

        Right on JeffH!

      • eddie47d

What you say about me is a lie in itself and you have been spreading that lie for some time now. Your game playing has long passed the threshold of decency and smells like week old garbage.

      • JeffH

eddie, it’s way past time for you to accept your fate as a bald faced liar…as you well know, your lying has been documented and re-posted on multiple occasions and if you continue to deny it I’ll re-post them over and over again. That is a fact!

      • JeffH

FYI and just for you, a 20-0 loser to boot!

        August 21, 2011 at 1:49 pm
You said this, Eddie, you lying slanderer — “We do see Jeff and Dave H. making personal threats (mostly mocking) against those they disagree with. That is everyday right Dave?”.
Here is the link to the comment where Eddie said that:

If someone is not a Libertarian (according to Jeff and maybe Jana)they have to be a communist. There is certainly nothing wrong with being a Libertarian except for the arrogance that flows from some of it’s members mouths.

        -August 20, 2011 at 11:25 pm
We do see Jeff and Dave H. making personal threats (mostly mocking) against those they disagree with. That is everyday right Dave?

        -August 21, 2011 at 11:39 am
Dave H can be a liar and a slanderer. As a matter of fact Jeff can also be a liar and a slanderer. You keep on doing it so I will assume the rest of us will have to put up with your occasional “fib”. I love when Dave says he didn’t say something when the words are right there in print. I may be misinterpreted in what I say but I won’t say that it wasn’t my words like Dave does.

        -August 21, 2011 at 11:49 am
WE(Eddie believes he speaks for everyone else) means everyone on this site Jeff or do you live in a bubble? Am I a liar? Apparently you think so and shout it from the roof top. If someone says something you don’t like doesn’t make that person a liar. If you can’t come up with a comment that proves me wrong then there is no lie. The lie would only be in your hurt feelings when you can’t prove me wrong. You slash and burn with slander(calling me a liar) instead of presenting the “correct answer” or don’t you have any correct answers from your own thoughts.

-Now eddie lies again and denies it after being proven a liar!

I see Jeff is still playing his silly troll game of hysterical nonsense. I don’t know if a doctor has a cure for your malaise but seek help. Now once again since I didn’t lie that makes you the liar. Now can you wrap your tiny mind around that?

        -eddie47d says:
        August 21, 2011 at 11:30 am
An opinion can be a fact or just an opinion on a subject. What should we call your “opinions” Song? Maybe you are too “opinionated” to answer that.

-Eddie says: September 29, 2011 at 3:20 pm
You never prove me a liar even though you keep insisting it’s true.

        - October 12, 2011 at 12:41 pm
The difference Jibbs is that I present facts each and everyday and SC never provides any. So get off your high horse and quit lying. Now if you don’t like my facts then disagree with them but don’t call me a liar until you do so. You are one sad lonely puppy in making up stories.

        -October 12, 2011 at 6:40 pm
I do prove you wrong and you respond with childish nonsense. Polly Want A Cracker or some other ridiculous BS. You hide you dishonesty with more frivolous spiced up crap.

      • JeffH

…eddie…this comment is just another lie to be documented just like all of the others!

      • Kate8

JeffH – I wouldn’t even waste my time trying to prove anything to eddie, especially if it concerns himself. He’s to the point of being laughable.

Every time he responds to one of my posts, he makes a nasty slur. Who cares. It just shows what a miserable creature he is.

      • JeffH

Kate8, you are correct. Every once in a while he needs a solid dose of reality which he knows is the truth despite his oft-childish denial and his totally hypocritical responses and demeanor.

      • eddie47d

Why do you believe Jeff,Kate? Go ahead and read all for there is no lies> Only fabrications brought up by Jeff. Just because he is dishonest and spreads falsehoods doesn’t make it true. If Jeff or Dave or anyone else mocks me or someone else and I call them out that is not a lie and Jeff only assumes so. You notice he never prints the comments that I was referring to in his little charade. That in it’s self is dishonest so he must be trying to become a politician.

      • Kate8

eddie, eddie, eddie. You really have a lot of nerve asking me to take your side after all the nasty remarks you’ve made to and about me, even just these past couple of days.

Actually, I couldn’t care less what you guys argue about. What I do know is that you make a lot of assumptions which you try to peddle as facts.

      • eddie47d

We seem to be accusing each other of the same thing.
