Cain Appears Confused About Libya

If his recent interview with the editorial board at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is any indicator, Herman Cain just isn’t sure if he agrees or disagrees with President Barack Obama’s handling of the rebel uprising in Libya. Some pundits have speculated that the candidate really hasn’t been paying attention to world events.

When asked about the recent events in Libya that led to the rebel overthrow of that country’s longtime dictator, Moammar Gadhafi, Cain took a long pause before asking the reporter to clarify exactly what was being discussed. He said that he was having a hard time focusing on the question because he had too many things “twirling around” in his head.

After a pause, Cain offered his thoughts: “I would have done a better job of determining who the opposition is. And I’m sure that our intelligence people had some of that information. Based upon who made up that opposition . . . might have caused me to make some different decisions about how we participated. Secondly, no I did not agree with (Moammar) Gadhafi killing his citizens. Absolutely not. . . . I would have supported many of the things that they did to help stop that.”

The Libya question is not the first time Cain has left pundits scratching their heads with an answer. He has also been criticized over the past few months for what The Washington Post calls a “flip-flop-flip” on the issue of abortion because of his failure to say anything concrete about the issue.

A recent Post fact check said of the candidate: “…Cain shows an increasing tendency to simply recast what he said and then claim he was quoted out of context or he misunderstood the question.”

    Governor Perry had a problem awhile back answering also. So if you guys, Mr. Cain and Mr. Perry are reading this, you both probably are having a nutrition problem.

    You both are probably burning off all your B vitamins because of the stress. At least take some Brewer’s Yeast before and during your debate. If that upsets your stomach then at east take some a few hours before ! Also Glutamine might help your memory. It’s also good for your muscles. Maybe a shake in the morning with some protein powder and tsome glutamine – mix in some sweeteners – like strawberries or orange juice. That might help. You could also throw some brewers yeast in their also…

    They got a whole bunch of protein powders/glutamine powder at the health food stores – just avoid the ones with aspartame !!!

    You guys are beimg too tough on Cain.Where does the press get off asking the tough questions like this and what books and newspapers they read?They are not geniuses or Einsteins.Cain is just another businessman like dubya looking at all the free money.Your tax dollars to perhaps hand out to his cronies like most politicians.

        Bruce, by snagging a huge house for pennies, it doesn’t prove that Obummer is intelligent or ‘special.’ What it proves is that someone “OWNS” him.
        Do you think the seller of that house wasn’t looking for favors? Can you or I get a deal like
        that? Do his jockstrapping backers ever think twice about such an obvious, disgusting transaction? Obummer is a legend in his own mind. Deflate that 30 gallon ego, and you’ll see what you need to see. His jockstrap fans will never believe the truth, but they’re as bad as he is.
        Is there any difference between an Obummer fan and a drug addict who lives in a drug warehouse? So much for hope and change and “leadership.” We’re already paying for that codependent behavior, and it will only get WORSE.

      I agree…there is going to be a lot more twirling in every candidates heads between now and the election. Its a case of the survival of the fitest during your grueling campaign trail which will decide who might have a chance at the oval office. The fitest candidate will have to be physically, intellectually and mentally fit for the task as candidate and whoever your voters decide to vote in will also have to be a super diplomat too. Who amoung your current candidates will be able to out do Obama? Its going to be a great race… opinion from Australia

    Herman Cain was being honest by telling reporters he had lots things on his mind, but he should have lied and not told the media of his state of mind. But any candidate cannot tell any truth he does not know about when only the President has the most facts about internation security matters in relation to Lybia or any other nation. A candidate can only give an opinion based on incomplete information he can gleem from the media and does not have direct access to intelligence sources which even if he knew about he could not comment on in a truthful manner without breaking all manner of national security and intelligence protocols.

    So give the guy a break and fortunately your nations military and security services and civil administrations are really in control if any President for example like your last BUSH president was not quite up to a resonable standard of intellectual ability, and where able to do the right thing for your nation. In the final analysis the President is only a figurehead or an actor to demonstrate that he is in charge when really he does rely on numerous other people of higher intellectual ability and experience to help make appropriate decisions when required. At this point in time OBAMA has the highest level of intellectual ability than all the current candidates/actors trying for his job and that is the stark truth.

    Has anyone ever asked or drawn up a job description and what the qualifications of any Presidential Candidate should be? What his career progression should look like ? Has he had a pshycological test to show he/she can be calm and still act and think logically during many national disasters and make sensible military decisions? These and many more are the types of hurdles senior executives need to pass prior to even being elligible for important corporate positions and i would say that most politicians could not pass or be elligible for any corporate positions based on the little we usually know about candidates and the many that are currently in office. I have been a candidate many times and its very easy to make motherhood statements and give economic opinions based on the little we really know of what is going on behind the scenes of the public view. It is only after we get into that office that we find out the binding contracts that we cannot get out of, or the real CIA reports or other secret information we cannot share with the voters we may represent…the up to date information we need to rely upon to continue the administrations we get voted into. Unfortunately it matters not much if some candidate know more of the truth when on the campaign trail, because many of you voters will vote for good looking pretty boys who can act better than some others who might have been a better choice, but maybe not so well versed at telling voters what they wish to hear. The above is my opinion from Australia.

      Maybe you are wrong on one point – Bush’s IQ – I heard that Bush’s IQ was higher than President Obama’s IQ.

        WHO said Bush’s IQ was higher than Obama’s? Which reliable source was your information based upon? I remember Bush Junior and in my opinion he was not even a knotch on Obamas intellect. Did Bush get a Law degree? Luckily Bush’s advisers where able to steer him through the difficult times, but I still maintain until you can find real fiqures with reliable sources which prove whose intellect is better, that Obama wins hands down.

        g, you won’t have any trouble finding conservatives who will admit that GB’s ‘IQ’ is lukewarm. At the same time, remember that Obs is still an unknown quantity here. NO ONE knows much about him, and the lamestream media does its best to pamper and protect him yahoo 24/7. WHY? What’s he HIDING?
        IF Obs’ ‘IQ’ is even fairly high, then he does quite a job hiding it. Some people love to talk about America’s “elites.” The term implies that ‘some’ people are smarter than others, and that their position in life proves it.
        Can we agree that a true elite proves that he or she is elite by doing “intelligent” only things?
        If we can use that as a yardstick, then by definition, Obs is ANYTHING BUT an elite.
        Obs is a Chicago-style car dealer. He is a bureacrat’s bureaucrat. He is a flimflammer and a walking contradiction.
        NO ONE can produce any proof that he had any students. NO ONE is willing to talk about his grades. He AND his wife surrendered their law licenses, and Obs never hesitates to act like he’s a rock star or a filthy, rich twit who loves to take trips around the world at America’s expense.
        When I saw proof that GB was just another neocon poser, that was all I needed. In Obs’ case, he was a LOSER BEFORE he moved into the W H.
        HOPE and CHANGE, my aching arse! Elite, my pet mule’s aching arse. He’s a loser, and I doubt if he will ever change that. Case closed. g, you assume WAY too much. You might cut back on that Australian beer.

      Bush is definitely intelligent. The IQ estimates range between 111.1 and 138.5, with an average around 125. That places him in the upper range of college graduates in raw intellect (Cronbach, 1960). Admittedly, this average is influenced by Cox’s (1926) corrected scores, which may be overestimates.       Of course we can’t score Obama because his records are sealed. We also can’t know why he AND Michelle gave up their law licenses either because that’s sealed. There are a lot of “sealed” record involving these two that we can’t see and I wonder who put up the money to do that?

    How quickly we forget how inept the democratic candidate for president was when he ran and how incompentent he has been as president. There is no way that he could have stood up under the venting the liberal media is putting the Republican candidates through. Perry didn’t remember the 3rd department he would remove, but obama couldn’t remember how many states there are in the union. Without their friends in the liberal media, who refuses to vent their misspeaks, they wouldn’t be able to run for dog catcher and win.

        Funny Eddie I can’t really remember the press attacking Obama…maybe FOX once in awhile but mostly the liberal press paid him homage. Another thing about that entire election is that I live in Texas and here in the Democratic primary Hillary won hands down. Then the Democrats held caucuses (it’s called the Texas Two Step) and guess who came out ahead? Obama and that’s who the delegates voted for. Unconfirmed, not voting, nothing but Obama came out the winner. Unbelievable….

    Everyone is confused about Libya. The Constitution says: “Congress shall have the power to declare war.” It also says the President, as “Commander-in-Chief” must then prosecute that war. In attacking Libya, without any congressional authority, President Obama violated his oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution. Yet only a few congressmen joined Rep. Dennis Kucinich in his lawsuit to have a federal court so rule. Under the War Powers Resolution, of 1973, Presidents can now wage war whenever and wherever they want.

    Now that I’ve called a spade a spade, I have some relevant advice for Cain. Namely, NEVER go to a debate or be interviewed if you’re NOT prepared. And if you’re trying to get into politics, NEVER pull a “Ross Perot.”
    That is, DO NOT get into a political race, then get out, and then try to get back into that race. THAT is a proven way to screw yourself out of an election.
    Ask Ross Perot. He knows ALL about it.

        How about bringing our troops home?
        How about a $1 TRILION cut in spending the first year he’s in office?
        How about the elimination of 5 Departments with the over-sight going back to the states?
        How about someone that has a keen grasp of economics and has always voted his ideals and NEVER voted for a budget that was not balanced, never voted for war, never voted for any stimulus, gives back a portion of his operating budget to the treasury every year, and resigned his position to run for President?

        That would be Ron Paul and his message HAS NEVER WAVERED. He is honest, hard working and probably the last great statesmen in this country today.

        Read “A Republic If You Can Keep It” which was his address to the House of Representatives in, I believe, 2000 or 2001. It’s mind boggling how prophetic he is.
