Rand Paul: Environmental Extremists Run Government

November 14, 2011 by

Rand Paul: Environmental Extremists Run Government

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that President Barack Obama’s Administration has allowed environmental extremists to take over political decisions and kill jobs.

The Senator’s statements were made in regard to legislation he has proposed to roll back an Environmental Protection Agency regulation that penalizes States for allowing air pollution to drift into bordering States, according to The Hill.

Paul also questioned the American Lung Association’s suggestion that pollution is behind a rise in asthma and said the $5 million in funding it takes from the EPA each year might be influencing the results of its studies.

The Senator also said that the push for electric cars did not make much sense from an environmental standpoint because 50 percent of electricity in the U.S. is coal-produced.

“[I] am afraid what has happened is we have opened up the White House and this administration to environmental extremists, the kind of people who say, ‘Well the polar bears are drowning,’” he said.

Paul said that this is not the kind of extremism that he wants to see driving policy in the United States.

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up
with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming,

The “Tar Sands” Campaign and the Suppression of North America’s Energy Potential…The “Tar Sands” campaign involves hundreds of environmental groups animated with millions of dollars from a few dozen foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Between 2006 and 2011 these groups planted 4,000 misinformation-laden anti-oil sands articles into the mainstream media.

10% of the oil imported into North America comes through two dynasties, the Irvings and the Pews – both major benefactors of environmentalism.

A 2011 US Chamber of Commerce report identified 351 environmentalist activist campaigns blocking specific American energy proposals. The Sierra Club was leading over 100 local campaigns against coal-fired electricity. Solar power industry front man, David Gelbaum, gave the Sierra Club $200 million.

I didn’t realize that Jeff gave us (environmentalists) so much credit.”hundreds of environmental organizations”. Thanks for the uptick!God Bless all who strive for a better and cleaner world.

        eddie,
remember you said that when you look up on your daughter and grandchild and see them eating grass cause that’s all they can afford!! I say look UP as I have a feeling that with your outlook you sure as heck won’t be looking down!!!

  • ONTIME

RP has identified only a mere part of the problems with this glutonous government of growing size, the EPA is in need of being defunded, the NEA and IRS need to be removed and several other massive agencies with police powers need to be rethought, in other words the size, scope and intent of this government needs to be Re-Pared.
Term Limits salary only with all elected and appointed officials being audited every year and made public on earnings and holdings. Decertify the government unions and rid ourselves of the progresive tax, use a fair tax to be put on the ballot every ten years. If you want decent representation repair and maintenance is necessary to keep this Republic up and runing so that government is a concensus of the governed and not poisoned by elites bent on constant incumbency….

  • Ray

The oboma administration is a total sham! I AM ashamed of my own govt. at this point. This is the most corrupt, cronism, chicago criminal administration to ever have control of the White House. Eric holder is just one example of the corruption. Nancy Pelosi and others have made millions off insider trading that is legal for Congress but not for normal citizens.
The oboma administration has let politics and the EPA kill about 250,000 jobs with the Canadian pipeline. Even the Canadian minister has declared this to be totally politically motivated. Now the Canadians are entertaining selling the oil to the Chinese. Oboma promised to get us off Middle East oil, but then again he promised a lot of things that never came about.
He promised to hold all hearings on obomacare and other bill public on CNN – what happened to that??
He and his total administration from the top down to clerks need to go, if he is reelected we will have a barren economy run by misfits and illogical, uneducated people.
Also, Iran will have a number of nuclear bombs by then under oboma.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Alex

Wow, Ray try the decaffeinated Tea Party—and check-in with your doctor once in awhile. Your screed of grammatically scrambled neo-conartist memes would have me convulsing with laughter were it not such a frightening example of Fright Wing hysteria—-you have been sucking too long at the Faux Noose gaspipe.

Perfect example? Right there, in the first passage, your running of the words “…corrupt, cron{y}ism, {C}hicago criminal administration…” shows that you take certain words of the moment (cronyism, obviously, but surely terms like ‘deficit ceiling’, ‘Sharia Law’, ‘class warfare’, and ‘insurgency’ entered your mind only as quickly as Sean insHannity or Flush Limpjaw could unload them) and throw them around, willie-nillie, beacuse you have downloaded them into your current mindset.

In short, one could be a part of a corrupt administration that practices crony Capitalism, but never a corrupt cronyism administration. Has my point registered yet?—-your very awkward interjection of the word ‘cron{Y}ism’ in that sentence betrays the dubious sources of your laughable ‘information’.

      • http://none Joe H.

you speak of limpjaw (don’t know who THAT could be) could that be like Madcow or FAT Harpo winfrey?

Controls on polution is fine. Businesses are doing a good job of cleaning up their businesses to protect something er the other. I do find taxing cow burps very E x t r e m e! Whoever thought that one up must be totally whacko. As with every bill, someone gets a kick-back. That is how the Federal Governement operates.

Ron has it right.. Have you ever witnessed any thing the EPA had a hand in that was not just another brick in the wall against freedom.. With as many as there are with their heads in the sand that believe anything green it’s not hard to see the problem..

    • John Lilleburns ghost

I cant wait to when these ridiculous laws are rescinded cos then I will have the freedom to burn old tyres next to Lyle’s house

      • http://none Joe H.

What???? I thought all you greenies used your old tires to make Ho chi Minh sandles!!!

  • Opie

Follow the money, if there is a possibility it feeds back to future votes you can bet the fix is in. The American Lung Association is addicted to the funds from the EPA which feeds the need for influence their reports. I’m sure it also appears quite subtle. Also like the relationship between the AMA,Pharmaceutical Industrial Consortium and FDA. This is also yet another example of how well intentioned governmental efforts get distorted over time, throw in there is absolutely NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Include the element of unintended consequence and it’s a very hard problem to fix. Put any label on it you wish to but it’s killing America. My hats off to Senator Paul. Great Work calling out the truth. We need more of him and soon or we are done. Follow the money.

  • Delfin J Beltran, MD

The problems are more basic. In 1953 the day before my MD at U.Wisc,Madison, the Dean presented for our edification, Edwin Witte,PhD,EconProf and former Wisconsin legislative Bill writer, who performed FDR’s bidding in creating the SocialSecurity Bill implemented 1936. His original Bill had included Universal Healthcare Coverage for the entire population. His 1953 comments were an introduction to ua as future physicians into the concept of total central contral of medical education and patient care, Universal Healthcare. His closing remark was the one-liner summary of Progressive-Democrat Political Philosophy, ” Before you finish your residency ‘ We will own you! ‘. That philosophy is the core of the Obama Progressive-Democrat Politic and defines the current Fascist Society desired by that mindset. The US has been morphed into the Germany of the 1920-30 under the National Socialist Party of Germany.

    • Alex

You should probably have yourself checked for early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease, doctor.

      • Joe H.

And you, Alex should be checked for ABS!! Absent Brain Syndrome!!!

    • s c

Dr. Beltran, thanks for your comments. I know it’s hard for programmed utopians to get a grip on reality, but that’s a problem that can be solved with true education, the ability to read and UNDERSTAND, having a sense of HISTORY, seeing through the lamestream media’s constant CRAP and having enough self-respect to sift and sort one’s icons. Some can, and some WON’T.
Obummer, The Anointed Loser, made a decision concerning the recent pipeline issue (XL), and it seems that he’s chosen to suck up to his environmentally and mentally defective hobags, and that means the union oil workers (pipefitters, etc.) will be LEFT OUT IN THE COLD [as in NO JOB!].
Now, that’s what I call a TRUE utopian progressive (in the W H). When it’s “time,” throw away certain ‘friends,’ and get on your knees and BEG for the support of ‘other’ friends.
So who’s next? Can you say COAL MINERS? That’s Obummer, the great nation DIVIDER (compliments of “the best government that MONEY can buy”).

  • bigJOHN

Unlike most of the people commenting on this page, I am a pipe fitter and millwright that actually works in coal burning power plants. Everybody is talking about “clean coal” these days, but the emissions from coal burning power plants are pretty damn clean. In the process, emissions are treated numerous times with filters, scrubbers and catalytic convertors. When in comes to Mercury, you might want to consider the Mercury in your yearly FLU SHOT! and then think of the hypocrisy. The FDA drums up Mercury scares from coal burners but then allows it in flu shots…….go figure.THAT’S THE POWER OF LEGISLATION THROUGH REGULATION. Our government has been bought off by the military/industrial/pharmaceutical/agricultural/banking/wall street complex!

    • SMSgt Z (ret) Nam 68

      bigJohn

The Mercury that is an emission from your power plant is Methylmercury which is harmful to everything.
What is in the flue shot is Thimerosal which has been used for 70 years and is closely regulated by the FDA(thank you FDA).The reason it is in the shots is as a preventative to stop the growth of germs/bacteria and fungi

  • Lawrence Ekdahl

Just another avenue being used to destroy America.

  • Lori

I recently started to research “cloud seeding/chemtrails” by our government since noticing the increase of chemtrails in our sky, almost every day a dozen or more trails. I live near O’Hare Airport and have compared the trails by regular planes whose fuel trails dissipate within a minute and planes flying higher whose trails linger for over 5 minutes. The chemtrail planes routes are not from O’Hare or Midway airports. Sometimes 2 or 3 planes flying in the same direction, approx. 500 feet apart, with their trails, creating a checkerboard designs in the sky. Articles and youtubes describe the chemical breakdown of these chemtrails containing extremely dangerous ingredients to humans and animals. A day after the chemtrails, we experience extreme cloudiness or unusual weather. My breathing becomes laborious and I notice more people wearing masks.

What is the need of our government to cloud seed our skies in Chicago?
Is this the reason for more people experiencing asthma?

      • Joe H.

that would be kinda hard unless they had a time machine!!! The paper in the very first picture has a date of 2006!!

  • Ted Crawford

From an artical in Newsweek April 28,” The longer the planners delay, the more difficult they will find it to cope with climate change once the results become grim reality”
N.Y. Times headline August 8,” Climate Change Endangers Worlds Food Output”
Nigal Calder- Editor New Science- “The threat of climate change must now stand alongside the threat of nuclear war”
C.C. Wallen- World Meterological Organization- ” The climate change since 1940 has been large enough that it will not soon be reversed”
All these warnings from all these sources can’t possibly be wrong, can they? The answer is a resounding yes! They were all issued in the 1970s about the impending ice age!
The effect that anthropogenic warming is having on the planet is akin to spitting into the ocean in an attempt to raise sea level!

    • Joe H.

      Ted,
The first two sources you post are two of the most liberal/greenie butwipe rags on the planet. Especially the NY SLIMES!!!

No one has said it yet, so here it is, ‘sarge.’ Do you have a license to patronize people who don’t share the same opinions? In particular, when it comes to comes to vaccines/inoculations, please do the rest of us a favor.
Line up and get every shot that is being offered. A good place to start is at the nearest VA, where they will be MORE than happy to stick you every time you go. Can I suggest the shingles or the flu variety?
Some of your comments are tinged with that half-assed, ultraliberal progressive stench. IF you have a military background (instead of a moniker), it’s hard to understand that you’ve lived this long and are still stuck on that ‘long live the revolution’ crapola, ‘sarge.’ Next time, include ‘soak the rich,’ and I’ll know what I need to know, ‘sarge.’

      • Joe H.

        SC,
PLEASE KEEP TAKIN THOSE MEANPILLS!! I LOVE IT WHEN YOU DO!!!

    • eddie47d

Since Raggs wants to go off the deep end then I will say you are 100% wrong. Climate and weather patterns have changed too much to call this phenomenon a hoax. Some scientist say this issue is even more urgent now than 10 years ago. There is plenty of testing going on so listen to the facts on both sides. This is very much an ongoing process.

      • Raggs

And I suppose that you think that I will listen to “MEN” that in their own made up mind believe in this horse crap?… WRONG!!!
Just because an idiot tells the world that he is a genius we should all agree with him????… Not hardly, not me and never!
The Climate always has changed and it always will and BTW it is called SEASONS… This Hocus-Pocus bat crap of the world is melting is a goal of the rulers to control the population…. These rulers have invested billions into this hoax in order for them to gain in control and in their riches….

      • John Lilleburns ghost

If you dont listen yo MEN (or WOMEN) who do you listen to?

      • Alex

Raggs—- Let’s say you are correct with your dubious claims about the fortunes being made by those invested in Green jobs creation. Under our wretched Capitalist system, those who get in on the early stages of Innovation often reap great rewards—we see this with oil, with the automobile, with metal-working and medicine, with radio, telephone, and computers. There is also, again under Capitalism, great risk to investors with new technologies.

What is needed for the protection of the environment, of our ONLY home, is, get ready for apoplexy, Socialism, if ONLY in regards to Green Technology. Please take a breath and read me out: the energy companies have reaped immense profit from the Earth, despoiling her in the process, piling treasure troves even when raising your energy prices in times of ‘crisis’.

We have been given, indeed Blessed by God, a beauty-filled planet with an abundance of water and food, as well as MUCH MORE energy than we could possibly need—-and these things are free and belong to each and everyone of us. Will you still be so enamored with Capitalism when the energy companies run out of Death Fuels and begin SELLING you the sunshine and the wind and the tides? Seriously?!?

A Socialized clean energy industry would have as its goal the complete turn-around of our destructive ways and would deliver to you plentiful and inexpensive energy. Their would be no motive to continue dredging the Earth of its dead only to burn their putrefaction and hang its residue from our skies.

Is Solyndra a disater? It sure looks like it. If their were improper dealings, like when Bush/Cheney hooked up Haliburton and KBR and Blackwater while killing your kids in a fake war, then punishment will be in order. But show me a totally new, world-changing technology that did not have birthing pains and misadventures along the way. Seriously.

The facts are there for all to see. Even the investigator hired by the Koch Bros, previously the most seriously considered of the Climate Change deniers, has changed his silly tune—-while some emails in England seemed like the smoking gun to the Flat Earth energy company hucksters, they have proven to be no more fluff.

Rather than listen to Reason and to Science and, yes, even to some “Green” Capitalist cronies with fortune instead of People in mind yet still armed with the truth, most of you instead listen to Energy Companies that screw you at the pump and are having a devastating effect on the home you are leaving to your grandchildren. The ones who have ALREADY sucked up trillions of dollars from the Earth and billions and billions more in Tax Credits and loopholes and outright subsidies. Who is zooming who?

      • Joe H.

        alex,
Let’s talk about GORE! He says the oceans are gonna rise fifteen foot and then buys TWO seaside properties! He is the only vp that was worth a cool 300 million within three years after getting out of office!!
Now let’s talk about those studies you don’t speak of. You know, the ones that said that climate change going on right now is MAN MADE. There is proof positive that a lot of the data that was put into those studies was FAKED to make the studies say what they wanted them to say!! Their only problem with that is that they were CAUGHT!! Try checking out the WHOLE story before you try to blame the wrong people!!

    • Alex

The EPA along with Obama’s goons ALLOWED the vicious chemical Coexit to be dumped, millions of gallons into the Gulf as a dispersant, hiding the oil from the surface of the ocean.

Pollution is NEVER a good thing. It’s the “gift” that keeps on killing – generation after generation.

    • denniso

It’s more than funny, that most so called ‘Christians’ who believe that their god created this earth in all it’s natural beauty and bounty, don’t seem to mind poisoning it,trahing it,destroying it,along w/ the little creatures he created in his own image?????

      • Joe H.

        denniso,
regulating the problem is one thing, but the EPA and the government has gone OVER BOARD by over reacting to the problem!! they use no common sense in dealing with the problem! What good is making the enviroment ubber safe for all if they are starving to death??

      • denniso

All big cities and some small towns have polluted air, many have badly polluted air. All rivers and lakes are polluted, some to a high degree. We still have toxic dumps all over the country that are seeping poisons into the ground water. We have new chemical toxins developed every yr that the EPA can’t even keep up with in checking their effects on humans. We are so far from a perfectly clean environment that your comment is a total joke.

  • Lastmanstanding

All…Look at businesses in your community that are tied to govt entities like the epa…they hide under the 501 3c umbrella. they get your tax dollars in the form of “funding/grants” to provide “jobs” with your tax dollars for their cronies at the local level…this is another form of wealth distribution and it is bs.

These entities create “a different kind of govt. job” that you pay for with your tax dollars. ALL of these entities destroy private sector jobs and entrepenurial businesses. As the owner of 2…How much more can we take. We use OUR OWN MONEY THAT WE EARNED…NOT ANYONE ELSES!

I hope you have noticed a common thread here…”with your tax dollars”

I don’t want to hear about how they are dividing us…it is the plan. Soon you will have to make a choice as to what YOU will do and WHO is on your side. They will sit in the luxury box and watch with glee…problem is, their team is going to get it’s ass kicked by a few of us that have had it. They have no idea how much strength we have asked for to provide our kids and grandkids the freedom and liberty that we thought we had.

When the game is over, those in the luxury box are next.

So,in the mind of this article’s writer, air pollution has no effect on asthma? Great news! I guess toxic pollution also has no negative effect on any aspects of our health? That means we can turn the polluters loose(looser than they already are)and create a zillion new jobs! What fantastic news for the country and the economy! We can also then get rid of the EPA and all health organizations that have tried for decades to make our environment safer for our children and grandchildren. I bet there is also no correlation to any or all toxins in the food we eat and the water we give our kids to drink…de fund all water treatment plants, and sewage plants, and we will save even more money!! Don’t these Marxists health workers and doctors/scientists/researchers,who are all trying to destroy our country by their meddling in the ‘free’ market, know that all chemicals/toxins/poisons are ‘natural’ and therefore can’t possibly hurt or harm humans?? Get rid of these liberal elitists and let the economy do what it’s supposed to do…create jobs and wealth! If we’re wrong about pollution killing people, well at least we will have spurred the economy to new heights!

Irony is wasted on the vast majority of people who read and believe on this site. In future please keep your mockery simple and enjoy yourself but remember you can’t change what does not exist.

Are you suggesting what is held as commonly known – that some minds are like concrete, thoroughly mixed and permanently set?

      • Heidi

I’m not sure what side of the argument you’re on, but you do realize that it’s because of the EPA and it’s ridiculous regulations that are causing the pollutants. They’ve decided mercury is safe, they’ve decided that fluoride from aluminum plants are safe in the water, they’ve decided to spray our skies with chemicals… the list is long. They’ve also helped shut down business on their own whim. He isn’t saying that there shouldn’t be reasonable regulations – just not the form of regulations that benefit the elites and destroys small business, such as co-ops, guitar builders, and farmers.

What is going on is so warped it’s not even funny – we put chemicals in our bodies because someone tells us it’s safe and will keep us healthy. Monsanto is buying up all the seed supplies so they can genetically engineer it – which can cause cancer in humans (showed up in their tests on animals). They’ve added human genetics into animals that are being cloned or genetically engineered…. Could you imagine if in the future ‘solvent green’ became real? Instead of human bodies, we start eating meat that has part of our genetic make-up?

      • eddie47d

Why the ridiculous Nazi remarks Bev and Al? Since pollution from one state can’t be bottled and kept from drifting into another state then this is absolutely a federal issue. Since coal and coal ash contains Mercury which is deadly in even small amounts this product needs to be regulated.I doubt if coal states like W Virginia or Kentucky will care about other states if they are making money off of this product. It’s even more obvious that they don’t care about their own citizens within their borders. We’ve made fairly decent strides in protecting our air quality and controlling black lung so why take this nation backwards.

      • denniso

Hey eddie, how’s it going? Glad to see you’re still fighting these no-nothings and trying to get them to think, even just a little. I’ve backed off from the battle here for a while,my stomach has been turned enough for a time by all the nonsense and outright lies and smears and childish babble from most of these ‘people’. Good luck!

      • TML

I agree the Nazi comments are rather premature, but I don’t see how or why a state should be penalized over something as uncontrollable as air pollution drift. It’s at the mercy of the wind… and it’s like being taxed for exhaling CO2 (and probably where the Nazi comments come in).

Ultimately, I don’t think Rand is saying we should take this country ‘backwards’, but given the other examples such as; environmentalist pushing sales of electric cars, boasting that it keeps the environment clean, when 50% of electricity is produced through burning coal (that stuff you just mentioned), is rather ridiculous. It seems Rand is just saying we should be smarter about how we regulate… (hence his sarcasm, “well, the polar bears are drowning”) and to largely question the scientific conclusions of a government agency, which is designed and funded to produce the results it presents. It becomes bias which is nothing more than pseudo-science.

      • Joe H.

        TML,
I’ll give you a good example of what you speak of. Here in Lake county and Cuyahoga county in Ohio we have the AIM tests on our cars. now, the cars that come into Lake county from Geauga county and others, don’t have to be inspected. We pay for them. Also a car that is over 25 years old is exempt from the test. Now, I ask you, which car is more likely to pollute? a three year old car or a 25 year old car??? Regulations are BULL$HIT!!!

      • Al Sieber

        I didn’t mention any Nazi’s.

    • JeffH

Al, actually, and I’m sure you’re very aware, Obama isn’t the first POTUS who’s embraced the enviro movement, but he has certainly taken environmental extremism to new heights. Obama has taken a page from California’s embrace of environmental extremism and looks to model the nation after California…damn the economy and damn the jobs. To them, it’s better to feed everyone gruel at the government trough and let them live in poverty rather than have the worlds population die off because of a bad environment.

      • eddie47d

Oh Please Jeff. Get a clue instead of parroting this anti-environmentalist trash. It may bet a part of the equation but jobs were lost because of the housing market and failures on Wall Street and many other factors.

      • JeffH

eddie, don’t “oh please” me…I live and breath the environmental extremism’s effect on California and our economy. As for your parroting comment…you are eddie the repeating parrot so repeat after me…Polly want a cracker? bbbaaarrraaakkk!

I agree that catastrophic contamination of our air and water should be eliminated.

However, EPA definition of Carbon Dioxide as a Pollutant is a little bit overboard. If there was no CO2 there would be no O2; since plants use the CO2 to produce the oxygen we breath.

Reducing CO2 also reduces the O2 concentration and reduces our Food Supply.

I understand polution; being from Western Pennsylvania during severe polution times. Look up Monessen, Pennsylvania.

I’ve seen the Smog of Los Angeles; looking across twenty miles of atmospher it is apparent. However, it is nothing like the Smog of Pittsburgh, where it was impossible to see through fifty feet of it.

Things, in gerneral are so much better because people became aware of the real problems and forced the government to take action. Others, took the responsibility to become stock holders and help guide the Corporations away from practices that hurt society.

The Federal Governnment demanded that we have Catalytic Converters on our cars, when Catalytic Conversion is the method used to trasform Sulfur Dioxide to Sulfuric Acid. Then, everybody was surprised when we experienced Acid Rain and people become ill when breating exhaust fumes.

There is no easy answer; but, cutting off the nose to spite the face is not one of them.

If there is a problem with a Corporation, people need to become stock holders and bring the problem to the Corporation at Stockholder Meetings or by writing letters to the Board of Directors.

Publishing the problems will also help correct many of the greatest impacts on our environment. However, the situations need to be addressed on a local level, to correct specific problems. There is no “One Size Fits All” solution.

Mercury was mentioned as a problem in coal and other fuels use. However, the Governement is demanding that we use mercury in our houses, in the Compact Fluorescent Lamps. This can be far more dangerous than a couple parts per million of mercury in the atmosphere.

Are you aware of Mercurochrome? It was used to effectively treat minor injuries. I’ve never heard of any severe reactions to it. However, it has been banned because it contains Mercury.

The problem is that it isn’t the element that causes problems. It is the a Compound that might be digested into the body; as in the case of a Japanese case where it was discharged into a river and Ocean; permitting Fish to ingest it and ending up in the food chain. Fish was the main source of protein for the Japanese People in that area. So, they accumulated high concentrations of Mercury in their body.

Our bodies are capable of handling various concentrations of dangerous materials. The Carbon Monoxide in Tobaco Smoke is an example. However, it is possible to overload the body if these concentrations become very high.

So, the contamination problem is one of concentration in digestible and breathable forms. Mercury is not dangerous unlesss it can be taken in and held in the body. The vapor pressure of Atomic Mercury is too low to cause a problem. However, mercury tends to break up in very tiny spheres that can be attached to dust particles that are breathed in when the dust is in the air.

That is why Mercury from Flourescent Lamps is dangerous. But, the Department of Energy is pushing us to have them, without review or approval of the EPA.

      • theotherrhalf

Mercury becomes a vapor at room temperature. This is why it is so bad to have in your mouth, the vapors move through the blood brain barrier into your brain.

Mercury is still in vaccines, as a preservative.

If you are considering changing your light bulbs, led’s are much more a much better choice.

Watch video sometime about South American gold miners who use mercury to purify gold. Even they know that burning off the vapors will give them nerve and brain damage.

Being the son of a medical Dr., Rand Paul ought to know better. There does need to be some environmental regulation. Remember hexavalent chromium?
        How about acid rain?

Using Mercury for fillings and adding fluoride to water, both are a collusion between big business and govt. Big Pharma and govt.
The CO2 naysayers did not learn must not have learned anything from mercury and fluoride.

Be glad we at stopped arsenic from being put in chicken feed. And had lead removed from gasoline.

      • cincerely

The greatest mercury pollution comes from cement plants as well as emissions from incinerators. I live in one of the top three most polluted states in the US – and not too far from a cement plant and an incinerator. I believe that these facilities must reduce mercury emissions – contrary to my Republican representative who votes against any efforts to maintain or increase EPA regulations that would help to reduce air – as well as water – pollution in my state.

      • Joe H.

        cincerely,
actually, the highest levels of murcury occured during the heyday of the logging industry. Murcury was used to keep the logs from becoming waterlogged and sink. the levels in the great lakes is far lower than it was at the turn of the 20th century!!

      • Dennis48e

“Mercury becomes a vapor at room temperature.”

Thats odd, my chemistry class said it was liquid at room temperature.

  • Dr. smith

Go Se. Paul. Here’s someone finally standing up to the regime, someone with a set. Gren Green green, yea 500B wasted on Solondra, and there are many others.

It’s called money laundering and these green initiatives are bilking the treasury, paying regime supporters and kicking back money to the Commander and thief.

    any questions?

    • Capitalist at Birth

Actally it was $ 537 Million not Billion. When the total is calculated it will probably be $ 20-30 Billion wasted on Crony Capitalism.

      • OneOfTheBunch

Unfortunately, greed feeds Crony capitalism. That does not mean that true capitalism principles should be destroyed. Just as in all systems, the people involved have got to help ‘clean up’ the system. As long as greed drives these profiteers, that’s not likely to happen.

    • Alex

Yes, one question: How did you get the title “Doctor” with such laughable views?

    • cincerely

But the subsidies to GE (a corportion that paid NO taxes) and other energy producing companies that also got big subsidies is OK??

      • Filippo

I don’t believe anyone has suggested the GE subsidies were ok. It is not the topic of this discussion.

    • Lisa Johnson

What is it going to take to get all the criminals out of the gov’t? They have infiltrated every level. There are only a few great ones left. Ron Paul and his son Rand Paul. God help us and God be with them as they battle satin and his MANY minions! Pray for them.

      • Lisa

They have a huge job ahead of them if elected and hopefully they are good at dodging bullets!

All environment and medical charities are a farce. The CEO’s of the cancer foundation are on 6 figure incomes and cancer is exploding throughout the population. There is no money to be made in your ‘wellness’. Check out other ‘charities’ and you will find similar circumstances.
