Nurses Don't Want To Be Abortionists

Twelve nurses represented by the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) have sued a hospital operated by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) for requiring them to participate in abortions.

“Pro-life nurses shouldn’t be forced to assist in abortions against their beliefs,” said ADF Legal Counsel Matt Bowman. “No less than 12 nurses have encountered threats to their jobs at this hospital ever since a policy change required them to participate in the abortions regardless of their religious objections. That is flatly illegal.”

Laws exist at both the Federal and State levels that give medical professionals the right to opt out of participation in abortions. The Federal law prohibits medical facilities that receive Federal funding from requiring employees to participate in the procedures—UMDNJ receives about $60 million in said funding each year, money the nurses are asking the court to revoke.

A September policy change at the hospital that requires same-day surgery nurses to participate in surgical abortions has resulted in threats to the jobs of nurses who have protested on grounds of religious belief. Hospital officials reportedly say UMDNJ has “no regard for religious beliefs.” In October, the hospital began training sessions that actually require assistance in surgical abortion for its nursing staff.

ADF attorneys are asking the court to issue an order that stops abortion training sessions while the lawsuit moves forward. If the order is not granted, the nurses will continue to be scheduled one by one to undergo the training and then to assist abortions on a regular basis.

ADF is involved in a similar lawsuit in New York against the Mount Sinai Medical Center, where a Catholic nurse protested required involvement in abortion procedures last year.

If you read or watch media, you can’t miss the insults. Today, both, left and right have even been hurling insults, calling Americans, who are using their rights to free speech and free assembly to speak out against questionable White House proposals, insulting names including, “un-American,” “thugs,” “racists,” “nazis,” “political terrorists,” etc.

The reason for using insults and illogic is to shut down public debate. Insults are an attack on public debate. The use of illogic is an attack on public debate.

By intentionally using illogic in debate with the opposing side, meaningful debate is destroyed. The public, unable to tell who’s winning the argument, is puzzled. The benefit to some of the left/right is that they are saying to all, “Join us and win power and money. Nothing else is relevant.”

Yes, there are those who are fooled by the illogic of the arguments – e.g. many high schoolers and college students to whom these arguments have been preached by some teachers, and who fall for it.

But that’s not the case with all the intellectual leadership of the left/right, many of whom are too aware to be fooled. The more profound thinkers on the left/right understand that the illogic is being used intentionally, to achieve a given goal, namely to confound all logical debate, and issue a siren call saying, “join us, and we will help you, and nothing else matters.”

Public debate works. The truth defeats the purposes of the unscrupulous. Therefore there are some who want to shut down and destroy public debate.

STRATEGY TO COUNTER THE ATTACK ON PUBLIC DEBATE

First, don’t respond to insults with insults. That’s exactly what they want. Because then they can claim, “The argument broke down into name-calling, and nothing was proven on either side. ” Ignore their insults and clobber them with the facts.

Second, bear in mind that most people in this country, regardless of political party, love America, and that civil public debate that communicates the facts to them will win. That’s why some in the leadership on the left, and right, are trying so hard to shut civil public debate down.

Conversely, i regretfully have to admit, since the law has legalized abortion, and until otherwise, no medical practitioner should be denied to perform said procedure. Already the government is moving to take colonoscopies off the books for preventive exams for colon/rectal cancer. They are saying the “finger” is good enough! I can guess which finger.
The system as it now stands is not perfect but it does allow some freedom to move and innovate. Obamacare does penalize a person whether doctor or patient for paying outside the system. As a matter of fact penalized even if done for free. Sounds wonderful to me.

OK, the REALITY is that pregnancy and being a completely trained medical professional are separate issues. For a medical professional there need to be set standards and profisency to assure the quality of care for each patient. Because these hospitals are run by morally corrupt individuals whose only fear is that their profit margin will shrink, they have no idea what they are asking of these nurses. Since doctors are able to detect a heartbeat at 3 – 4 weeks after conception, your arguement falls flat on its face. Jobs are hard to come by these days, but so are qualified nurses. This new hospital policy is straight from Satan, and has no reason to be required or enforced, so why is it? To be faithful to one’s GOD you must live His precepts and your belief in them, or you are not of Him. May GOD bless these nurses and make them strong in thier decisions to serve Him. It may become a sacrifice, but can this hospital survive without the services of these nurses, or any nurse who serves GOD first and lives by His words? I wonder if these nurses were Muslims if they would also be required to do the same?

Yes, but at the time, Jesus did not condemn, nor, did He call for capital punishment on sinners as evidenced with the woman who was caught in adultery. Let’s keep in mind that God condemns adultery, and fornication as well, and considers such sins to be no-less serious then homosexuality. Why is it that Christians refuse to vehemently condemn adultery, and fornication, as they do homosexuality? But then again, it is not up to us to condemn anyone, as we are all guilty of those sins, for when we look onto a woman to lust, we are guilty of fornication, and so much more, when we condemn others for doing the same, for when we judge and condemn, we expose who we are, in that, we are guilty of the same, when we do so. For when we condemn and judge others, we subconsciously perceive in them that which we are as well! One could argue that judging, is in essence, projecting!

One aborted spontaneously and the other had to be removed by a doctor. And the cancer they found in my Mother when she was 88 was sure not human. Do they not have enough nurses who don’t object who can do this task? Or is this simply a lawsuit intended to make a statement? Regardless of personal beliefs, abortion has been legal in the US for 40 years. Why is it that some people are vehemently against abortion but think fertility treatments are wonderful? In an abortion, a woman makes the agonizing decision to correct a mistake. In fertility treatments, 12 embryos are purposely created knowing most or all will die as a result of attempting to grow them in a hostile uterus. The ones that aren’t implanted are frozen indefinitely or disposed of. How can anyone think that cavalier disregard for life is fine but abortion is murder?

Hospitals tend to go by state and federal laws, but are seperate entities and not run by the state. Second, since you always scream about freedom of speech and religion in America, how no one can force their beliefs on someone else, you are a hypocrate! How can you stand for these things, but then turn around and do the opposite? Can’t have it both ways, butthead. Third, what the nurses are doing is legal and is their rights under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. It seems you know nothing about our God given rights, just only what you want them to be. It’s a free country (lol), and the 12 nurses that have morals should just quit. I don’t know what the medical staffing situation is in that state, but in Missouri, we are in desparate need of nurses…especially nurses with morals.

Maybe when the hospital administrators and politicians find out that medical care providers disagree with ending life rather than saving it, the message will be heard.

Until then, don’t support an employer with your services when they refuse to support your morals. Trust me…there are PLENTY of ‘pro-death’ nurses out there.

The people that “made a mistake” WILL be able to murder their unborn with help from medically educated people.

Many abortions were in hospitals at one time. In some states a hosiptal was the required provider. That is changing because abortion is safe, particularly in the first trimester. It is certainly safer than carrying to term.
